Flour House Bakery & Coffee

Took a day trip out to Princeton on Father's Day. While we were there, we wanted to try a coffee shop and bakery that was featured in a magazine article for UIC alumni. The article was short, but we were curious, and wanted to try something new, so we stopped in for some coffee and treats. I had a caramel latte and a honey wheat bagel, as well as my husband, who had the same bagel and he had an iced coffee. The bagels are homemade vs. the cookie cutter bagels and we both liked our coffees. The selection is somewhat limited, but we still bought one of everything to bring home! (Such as sour cream cheddar twists, almond joy scones, two large oatmeal, chocolate chip, m&m, & peanut butter cookies, pumpkin cinnamon muffin, be sure to enjoy the glaze!) This place is adorable. It is bright and modern and it feels comfortable, but not cluttered. A great place to grab some coffee and read a book or the newspaper, or chit chat with friends. There are three chalkboards in the back by the bathroom. One features the local doings, and the other was labeled "Things my dad taught me." There was a metal bowl with chalk sitting in it for customers to reply about what their dad taught them. Really cute. Mine was: Love of coffee. Be sure to check out the bathroom, cute as well.
Great coffee, great snacks, and great people in a beautifully executed shop. What's not to love! The only way to make It better would be to clone the owners and have it open 24/7. There are a couple food spots in town that have the potential to be this good, but the Flour House is the only one that puts all the pieces together.
Good coffee. Excellent bagels. Wonderful cookies. Decent scones. All are feakin homemade! Wtf! This place is amazing! If you're driving through or you are from around town, you MUST check them out. It's am mom and daughter amazeballs duo! I can't believe they're so far for me. I would totally kill for the toffee chocolate chip cookies and the jalapeños cheddar bagels. Brought home day old bagels and my family went nuts over them all. Go, eat, wifi for free and enjoy all the nice smelling toiletries in their water closet.

Prime Quarter Steakhouse

250 Backbone Rd E
Princeton, 61356
Reviews:
A reasonable, no-frills steak and baked potato meal... You can choose to grill your own steak, or for $2 more have it done for you while you enjoy the salad bar. For a girls night out, we opted to have it cooked for us. Will definitely be dining here on our next road trip.
For upscale options in the area, prime quarter is as good as it gets. It's definitely a niche with cook your own steak, but with the salad bar and the friendly service, it's definitely worth a trip if you're in the area. It seems very old-school to me, with the bar snd the wood paneling on the walls, but I love it in many ways. The ambience and Decour are not much to look at, but again it's a niche restaurant serving steaks that you have the option of cooking on the grill yourself or for an additional charge of two dollars they will cook for you. They make a great martini, which is clearly something notable from my perspective. I had the prime rib and it was a little tough but delicious. Dinner comes with the salad bar and a baked potato and Texas toast. A creative spin on steak in a charming little town. A great value....$20-28 ish, excluding booze.
I have literally spent the last 10 years travelling the world and I am obsessed with this small chain of steakhouses. I have gone out of my way to eat at one every chance I get. From Saudi Arabia to Turkey, from Germany to Italy, from California to North Carolina...you won't find a better steakhouse experience than this. One time I even did the Beefeater Challenge where you eat this massive Porterhouse in a certain amount of time and I succeeded because their cuts of meat are that good. I could go on for days but why should I? Go experience it for yourself...you're already missing out! Happy Eating!

Great food and low prices. Try Monday nite chicken special, also good burgers. Drinks today were still $1, with refills. Love the homemade au gratin potatoes, usually to full to try desserts. Seems to be consistently good food.
Excellent food. They have a German food - Octoberfest special on Thursdays in October. Very good and the price is right! They did not have any draft beer but I tried a heiney dark in bottles and it was very delicious. I'm told they have very good hamburgers - the best in town.
Great food at a good value served by folks who seem to love their job. I would highly recommend.

Kramer’s Kitchen

Like many others, it seems we came by Kramer's by chance...well, sort of. We used our trusty ol' Yelp. So, as we were at Hornbakers Hosta Farm, we left and decided to hit downtown Princeton. It's cute...seems to be one long Main St., but it's pretty occupied. So, it's Saturday, around 12:45 and we head into Kramer's It' a sandwich shop, so if you don't like sandwiches, you are not at the right place. They have soup and a salad bar, neither of which we tried. My husband got a cold sandwich with coleslaw, and me, a hot with the chips. Why 5 stars? -Friendly, fast service. Def a local hot spot -fresh, GOOD food. The chips were great! So was my sandwich -prices very reasonable. $17 for lunch for 2, including iced teas and we were both full -it's cute...the decor is ecclectic, which is my style anyway :) They are closed on Sundays, be forewarned. We are going back the next time we're in town!
Never had a good experience at Kramers. Bread is always stale. Prices are ridiculous. Would much rather go to subway down the street...
While passing through Illinois on our cross-country jaunt, we stopped in at the small town of Princeton. Let me first say that being that I live in San Francisco, my standards are a bit high when it comes to food. Road trips can be miserable when it comes to food options! Looking for a bite to eat, we happened upon Kramer's Kitchen-located on their Main street) and am I ever glad we found this place to eat at! Their business card reads, "Great Sandwhiches~Awesome Salad Bar~Excellent Soups". The sandwhich was good and so were the fries! Everything was deelish! Great food, reasonable prices and the place seems to be hopping. Servers were friendly. Guess in smaller towns it is obvious which are the good places to eat-the places that are busy! Good stuff, Maynard!

Great meetingplace!! My wife and I met her aunt here for breakfast as it was half way between our homes.. What a great choice. Her aunt had eggs with toast and sausage it looked great, with plenty of jelly for the toast.. It sounded like they had 6 or 7 different bread choices. My wife had the biscuits and gravy, she said it was very good. I had the eggs Benedict, WOW. It was all made from scratch and was absolutely perfect. Our food arrived pretty fast and our server was right on top of the coffee. Great experience overall. The chef even came to the table to make sure we enjoyed our meal. I would recomend this place for breakfast and their lunch menu looked good, too.
this was a great place to start your day. the staff is friendly and polite. the breakfast dish to ha e is the eggs benedict. they are very good and the Oliver's are a nice fresh touch along with the tomato slice. This adds a freshness to the meal. The for a lunch I recommend their Rubin sandwich, it tastes great. The roast beef Philly style is a good choice as well. Then there are the fresh home made pasterys and chocolates. Can't go wrong those. The place has a welcoming environment and is very clean. However, the restroom is very unacceptable to people with disabilities. Over all, love the place and the owners are very welcoming to everyone.
High quality ingredients, skillful cooking, and friendly staff make for a great experience! I was visiting Princeton for a week and ate here three times. Breakfasts were excellent -- eggs benedict was stellar, and biscuits and gravy also was a winner. Lunch was a regular burger, also excellent. Everyone who works here is very welcoming.

Myrtle’s Cafe & Pie

Reviews:
This place was unbelievable. Everything tasted so fresh. We had the French Dip with killer bread (yummy bread with a garlic cheese sauce) that had the choice of a half order of the most amazing biscuits and gravy on the planet. The best my husband has ever had - and he didn't even use any Tobasco. I had the chicken salad in a croissant with fresh fruit. But the best was the pie. I had the red raspberry pie with whipped cream. I am never going to order pie again ever from any other restaurant. It ruined me. It was hands down the most extraordinary pie - dessert - I have ever had. I wish it was nearby, or then again, maybe I don't...
Pie is the only reason you need to eat at Mytles. Today we ate Dutch blueberry, chocolate raspberry and German chocolate. Delicious as always.
What the hell was I doing in Princeton? Or anyone else for that matter! (Trying to eat Myrtles pie!) I was at the Wally World for work. After spending three hours there I was ready for some chow. I Yelped local eats and Myrtle's popped up. I drove right by it as the only sign is a painted window and a picture of the women on the door. I was greeted and told to have a seat. A drink and menu were lickity split. I didn't hear a soda gun, and there wasn't any pulp in the lemonade. But it was quite tasty for $1.99. I had the reuben on marble rye. It came with cucumber salad that was homemade. It was ok, but they didn't bother peeling the cucumbers and there were big chunks of onion floating around it. The reuben was just average and on the small side for $7.99. I did have a piece of brownie bottom banana pie. It was delicious, but not for $3.99. I thought homemade pie slices at the Blues Café in Kankakee were expensive at just under 3 bucks. The rent in the place that has been here since the 50's cannot be that much. And the décor came with the place. They don't have a fryer and I don't see any modern conveniences behind the counter. Am I paying for the atmosphere. I guess that's the price of home cooking in a town that has a Walmart.

As far as McDonald's go this one rocked! Lots of space for parking and it was very clean! Staff was friendly and very polite! Food was freshly made and hot! We also got our food quickly! Compared to other McDonald's restaurants I've been to this one was one of my favorites! It was just an overall good experience. Bathroom was modern and clean :)
I love that others have given this place five stars. It's McDonald's for Christ's sake. It is what it is, highly processed food that's only fit for killing your hunger when you're in a hurry. Who cares if the building is new, does that warrant such a high rating? Some of the best food I've ever eaten was in places that were only a step above being a shack.
New building. New parking lot. Very nice and modern. Food is same at all McDonald's so you know what to expect. I tried the new grilled chicken sqeet chili McWrap. Not to be confused with the value menu wrap, this thing is huge and much better. Included cucumbers which I think is the first time McDonald's has used cucumbers in one of their main menu items. Yummy yummy in my tummy.

Don't waste your money on some other pizza place. The Pizza Cellar is the best in town!
Best pizza in Princeton. Homemade crust, fine ingredients, and savory sauce. Small but decent beer selection, and fun atmosphere.
My all-time favorite thin crust pizza. The standard by which all others are judged. A perfect ratio of cheese, sauce, crust, and -- most importantly -- grease. The pizza here has one of the most distinct flavors I have ever come across in my many years of pizza-eating across this great nation.

I love ORIENTAL GARDENS, I always get Kung Pao chicken. Great portions, very friendly.
I drive from Iowa to Chicago every week and need a go to Chinese take out place on the road. I am also a fan of Singapore noodles so imagine my disappointment when the yellow curry/spices they put on their noodles didn't taste very good. I am a big fan of curry too, good Indian, Thai and Japanese curry are some of my favorite dishes. Not sure if Chinese curry is different but this really had an off taste. Everything else about the dish was good though.
We love this place. We usually go there for lunch about once a week. Food is cheap at the same time generous quantity and excellent quality. They have one of the best hot and sour soups I have had in the States. It is fresh and home made. Decor is OK, and service is fine for the type of restaurant. Their hot tea is free! It adds as a great compliment to their lunch. Would highly recommend them for a dine in or carry out.
