I have been to this Starbucks at the train station many times, It's really awesome that they have a Starbucks here. They are super quick with taking orders and getting drinks out fast so you so you don't miss your train. It's not cluttered and very clean. The patio area is also great to just hangout until the train gets here. Love it!

Great location for commuters. Friendly and fast service. Just don't ask them to grind a bag of coffee. They don't grind to the correct size. Requested cone shaped paper ADC grind and got percolator grind which is much more coarse.

I know I sound like I'm 1000 years old saying this, but there sure was a lot of tomfoolery, shenanigans, and horseplay amongst the employees here. Luckily, what they lack in professionalism they make up for in speed and agility because my latte was piping hot, filled to the brim, and ready in less time than it took me to make up my mind about what to order. For a Starbucks located within a train station, speed of service is just as important as the quality of the brew and they certainly have both those credentials on lock. As far as the tomfoolery goes, I'd normally be fine with this. The good employees at Starbucks work hard and absolutely deserve to cut loose every once in a while, just maybe tone it down just a tad on Saturday afternoons, por favor? Because Saturday afternoons are when I'm most in need of coffee, most likely to be hungover, and least likely to enjoy the dying cat noise-making competition coming from the back room. And I know no one is actually going to believe me, but honest to god, two employees in back were making these just terrible screeching noises while one of the employees up front decided who "sounded more like a dying cat." Kids these days and their crazy imaginations... Again, thank god for their speedy beverage service to get away from the sounds and also throwing in a hallelujah for all the church pew seating inside the warm train station,a s well as the rather nice patio/sun deck with a fountain just outside their side door facing Smith street. Overall, the amenities outweigh the annoyances and it's a location that's might convenient when taking the train to the city.

So fast! While parking is limited, this Starbucks is a great place to walk to and sit outside when the weather is nice.

This is my cute local Starbucks! Love it here and it looks good after the renovation! Very convenient since it's at the train station, but that also makes for long lines. The employees here are all very sweet, with that typical Midwestern charm. Most times when I come home for Christmas at least one employee remembers me! I will definitely be back!

Very cool and quaint location. Enclosed patio makes for a nice area to relax. The service is good and the staff are friendly.

Since I go here everyday when I am not traveling I must like it! That said, who doesn't like to get coffee and watch trains go by! If I was 5 the 5 year old me I would sit there all day. My favorite part is that 9 out of 10 employees know what I drink at this point so I don't even have to say anything really.. And who wants to talk before their coffee in the am. I love being a regular.

When I used to work in the city of Chicago and took the train downtown every day, I used to frequent this Starbucks. They are located inside the Palatine train station and are usually busy. One thing I particularly like about this one is, even though they have a high volume of traffic, they make the effort to know their regulars. This sets them apart in my mind from some of the others. Unlike many Starbucks, they don't have tables in the store. There are tables in the train station though that are available to patrons. And, since it is a nice train station, that works out okay. Other than that, they are a Starbucks. They have the same stuff every other Starbucks has. They have the same great service.

Nice little Starbucks tucked inside the Palatine Metra station. (Boy, I'll bet the Sbux rep who secured this lease got a nice bonus!) We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon while shopping in the area. I was surprised to see a line out the door! At first I suspected it was a crowd grabbing some beverages before jumping on the train and heading downtown for an event. But, nope, it was like-minded folks stopping in for their caffeine fix before moving on to wherever they were going. So, even on a Saturday, this "commuter" Starbucks is doing lots of business. Good for them!

What? A 5-star review on a franchise...and a STARBUCK'S you say? Samantha V, what is up with you today?? First of all, these guys are about the quickest I've ever seen at a Starbuck's. And while the product itself doesn't vary from any other location, I really do love the atmosphere here. It's incredibly convenient for Metra riders, of course, and the train station is so clean and cheery I've actually seen people holding small meetings there. It's air conditioned and has plenty of seating, a bathroom and just seems a really comfortable place to hang out and pass some time. I love the outdoor seating area too, very pretty with several tables surrounding a very quaint fountain with decorative live foliage everywhere. Very calming to come and relax to enjoy a beautiful day. It's not incredibly accessible to those who drive, however, there's a parking lot just across the tracks $2 daily parking, free from 5 pm to 5 am!

I like this location because the employees understand that most people are trying to make a train or get somewhere fast in the morning. They generally do a great job. I have to take away a star because this morning and on several other occasions the people taking the order don't know the specials and the specials this season and last seasons specials which are frequently ordered still. I have occasionally gotten a slow unconcerned with people trying to make the train employee who took her time with the drinks almost causing a few people to miss their trains.

It's a great Starbucks. The staff is really friendly and efficient during rush hour times. It's fun with kids since they can see the trains. It's also convenient for a morning shopping at the farmers market or when you want to just sip coffee and go for a walk around downtown Palatine.

They are quick, quick, quick at this location! They have things down to a science, and my mocha cookie crumble frappacino was AMAZING, as usual. There was a line when I got there around 10am on a Sunday, but they definitely keep the line moving--they know that people have a train to catch. There's also really cute outdoor seating for patrons. I will definitely be back!

It's a pretty standard Starbucks---pretty much the same as all the others. The staff is friendly and efficient and I love the convenience of grabbing coffee at the train station. They don't have a full store though many of the Starbucks goods aren't available here.

As others have posted, they are very efficient and accurate with your drink orders which is particularly helpful when seconds count in making a train. I like the outside patio seating and the train station has plenty of tables and benches to find a place to sit inside easily. It can get a little cramped when there is a long line waiting to order, but they move the line quickly so that is really a small inconvenience.

Expensive as any Starbucks is, but the folks here are always nice. They sometimes have to deal with some real dodoheads and there still NICE.

Very bitter. Today the coffee was burnt and bitter.

After a renovation and some new employees, this place is GREAT! I love the friendly faces who always remember my drink. They are always hustling to get drinks out as fast as they can, but still manage to engage in conversation. For those of you who stopped coming because this place used to suck, give them another shot!

A tad on the slow side for my liking, but my drink is always well made (definitely not so at other 'Bucks) and the staff is always quick to offer a venti ice water for my panting bulldog (endurance is not her forte). For her part, Lola loves the fountain on the terrace, which is a great place to lounge in the nice weather.

Good 'bucks. I don't go weekday mornings so I have nothing to say about the quickness, but on the weekends the baristas are cool and nice. One made my drink, gave it to me, I took two sips and then she admitted she made it with whole milk instead of soy and asked me to give it back so she could make me a new one! I wouldn't have noticed (until the stomach cramps started), so I thought it was cool of her. If you're reading this, barista, I'm sorry I only had change to tip you with.

I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but these baristas are courteous and quick! I'm a little biased because I've gotten comped there before (I'm a firefighter and I was in uniform), but regardless, these people are good at what they do and can handle a rush! If you are around the area don't even THINK about going somewhere else for coffee! ;)

Some of the best barista's around. I've never had better hot or cold lattes and cappuccinos at any other Starbucks. Very pleasant employees. I usually go in the afternoon or evening so I have never experienced a delay during the rush hour. But I agree quick service when the trains are roaring through is a must. Maybe the commuters should just order regular coffee's. They only take about 30 seconds even during rush hour.

  • Diane F.

Same experience as Tom M. I was in on a weekend when the manager took a break to sit on one of the few stools in the shop with four people in line waiting to order. Weekday morning service isn't that much better when it comes to speed. These baristas would never make it in Chicago!
