For my 99th and 100th review I will be reviewing the two biggest rivals in Chicago history. Giordano's Vs. Lou Malnati's. This is review 99. So I'm sure you know whose team I'm on considering.... Being a Chicago native, I was raised to make a decision in baseball as well as pizza. It's a hard life, but luckily I made the right choices. That being said, Giordano's you're no match against Lou's but you're still pretty damn good compared to anything else (other than Lou's) when it comes to pizza. Again, nothing against the quality of this fine pizza pie, it's just a preference I have when it comes to my deep dish and you just don't fit the par. This restaurant is okay. The servers kinda have an attitude, which they can go ahead and drop. But most places in the Oswego area have this teenage angsty attitude about them. It's clean, and never over busy. It's more expensive than Lou's which is a couple blocks from here. I wouldn't never say no to you Giordano's but you are never my first pick.

I just love a Giordano's pizza. I don't get here often, but when I do i enjoy myself. My last lunch visit, the staff was great, the place was clean as always, but it was CCC-OOOO-LLLLLL-DDDDDDDD. Uncomfortably actually, and i never complain about cold temperature. Always a FAV

So we went in on Saturday night expecting wait time. They told us about 15-20 min so we decided to wait. It was me, my wife and 3 year old. All of us hungry and craving deep dish. We waited about hour. Only thing that save them from 1 star is that they took our order while we were waiting for table. Server was good. That place is a cluster f#@! On weekends and diner time. We were seated at the booth next to entrance across next to bar/tv area where all the people were waiting either for take out or table. Very uncomfortable when you try to eat and you have some guys butt in your face. Won't be back to that location. Chicago downtown location was better in whole honesty.

Just ordered my pizza for a birthday dinner. I called it in and when I got there it was hot and ready for pick up! I am pleased with the service of Giordanos and plan to be back very soon.

They only higher illegal aliens to work in the kitchens and fire American workers if you don't learn Spanish would not do business with an unAmerican company like this!!!!

I was expecting better. Recently went to Chicago looking for the best pizza. saw this advertised and it looked delicious. First do not go in starving as we did. It takes 45 mins to make this famous stuffed pizza. I decided to order a salad in the mean time. Worse salad I've ever had. My hubby had wings which he said were good. Over all not the best pizza I've had but worth the experience.

They misplaced the order, brought us the wrong pizza, and made us wait 2 hours in the restaurant. Service is horrible. They did not even apologize.

Stuffed pizza is good, same as other locations. Ordered the bruschetta app (takeout) and it only comes with four small life's of bread. Hardly enough to justify the $8 cost and not enough to even touch the amount of tomatoes. Disappointed especially since bread would be the least expensive item!! Ordered the margherita pizza twice and very disappointed both times!! They have obviously never eaten a real margherita pizza ever!! First time they didn't use buffalo mozzarella and shredded. Second time they used buffalo mozzarella but there was one small sliver of basil. Not even close to a margherita pizza. They should visit Italy or at least NY to get it right. For crying out loud there are recipes online that are better than what they make! I know this is a Chicago "style" pizza, then don't call it a margherita pizza as it does have a specific definition regardless of locale. Oh and this is supposed to be a super thin crust but the crust is about the same as every other regular thin crust pizza they make. Very disappointed and will stick to the stuffed pizza until the owners learn what a real Italian pizza is.

The pizza is great, but this place is always slow and understaffed. Today I say for 45 minutes before getting an appetizer, when I told waitress we had to leave I cashed out my order and asked for it to go. They were missing one sandwich and one pizza, the voiding check process. I had pre ordered two deep dish pizzas ten minutes before arrival and they only made one by an hour passing. The waitress was so slow I told her I had to leave and she needed my card again so I slammed it on counter saying I was going to miss a train and she crumpled my receipt and through it at me. Never coming back!!! Staff your store or close!

I'm from Cali and I have had a few diff type of Chicago pizza's including to name a few Lou Malnati's and Gino's east which are all really good but my fav so far has been Giordanos. Awesome deep dish pizza and good customer service. I come here always when I come to the area. I even ship pizzas back home to LA lol.

I'm confused about why there are so many lower reviews. I don't think I've ever ordered delivery from this location, but I have dined in several times. I've always received good service and awesome pizza! I've also tried a few appetizers and have enjoyed those as well. I actually like their deep dish just as much, if not more than Lou Malnati's.

I thought I would give this place a try despite being a life long Lou Malnati's supporter. Needless to say I am not converting to Giordanos. I have had both of their pizzas the deep dish and thin crust. Thick Crust: I actually hated this and didn't finish it. The crust was too thick and not very flavorful, the cheese was so thick it was like biting into rubber. It was not very hot (which didnt help with the cheese situation) and the meats they used tasted cheap and fatty. Thin Crust: This was way better. I actually enjoyed their thin crust a lot. I will have that again for sure. It was the right a=mount of cheese and the crust was not too overwhelming. Restaurant: It has a nice charm. It has good indoor and outdoor seating for families. It also has a neat little bar right when you walk in.

This is the only Giordanos in Oswego. The restaurant is a pretty good size. The decorations were really nice. I love the stuffed pizza and the thin crust pizza. The reason why I'm giving this location only one star is because of our waiter. Before I even said what I wanted to order, I clarified with the waiter if I can order a stuffed pizza with one half cheese and the other half special (which is sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions). He said yes and that we can order half and half for the stuffed pizza. So I placed my order and we waited about 40 minutes before we got our food. When they gave me my pizza, it wasn't a stuffed pizza like I had requested. It was a thin crust pizza. I never said anything about a thin crust pizza! I was really disappointed when I got the wrong pizza. I know I mentioned earlier in this review that the thin crust pizza was good, but still. It's really disappointed when a waiter can't even take down your order properly, especially when he said that I can order half and half for a stuffed pizza. Despite all of this, my parents were able to give me a slice of their stuffed pizza. By the way, this was the first time I have ever gone to a Giordanos. Never expected my first experience to be disappointing. Good service goes a long way for me when I go to a restaurant. I know I definitely won't be coming back to this location ever again.

I would leave less than one star if I could. Service is horrible. Food takes forever to come out of the kitchen. There were 5 tables with 2 servers. One table got tired of waiting and left. We spent 2 hours for two small pizzas and one small half baked. Which by the way was wrong. He brought me a half BACON pizza. We finally get our bill and walk to the front to pay. The MANAGER came to the front. He looked at the bill and said I needed to take it to my server. Um...what!?!? You're the freakin manager!!! You couldn't check us out on that machine right in front of you!?!? I will NEVER go back there!!!

I wish I could give zero stars. I ordered a pizza to be delivered and was told it would take an hour. After waiting two hours, I called and asked what is going on. I was given a ridiculous story as to why my pizza hadn't come after talking with THREE PEOPLE! when the delivery driver showed up a half hour later, I was given a completely different story by him. Not only that, but the pizza was cold. I don't know what these morons are doing to run such an unorganized business, but I would rather spend my hard earned money on Dominoes than trust these imbeciles ever again with my order. Then, an hour after the pizza came, I was called and told that a 28 dollar tip was put on my card, which I never ever would have approved of, so they voided out my transaction and asked for my card number again. I refused and after speaking to the manager, my horrible meal was comped. Do not support this place. The manager needs to be fired. He seems very incompitent, and the service shows.

Hi,I always love the giordanos pizza, but I only give one start because the last 3 orders for delivery, come late and we have eat a very good cold pizza I call the last before order and specific the lady in the phone, please don't send me a cold pizza again!!!,I tell her the last experiences and bingo we receive a delicious cold pizza I love this pizza, but in tired of get this service. I try one time different restaurant located at the same miles of distance, the delivery was fast and the pizza was hot. Both restaurants are busy all the time ,but in my opinion if you want eat giordanos, you may need go to the restaurant and eat there or pick up

The pizza is solid. A good meat and more stuffed pizza! The thing is like a brick it's so heavy and they are so generous on toppings. I must add that they recently hired more delivery drivers which has cut the delivery time nearly in half. I ordered a thin pizza and got it in about 35 minutes. I really can't complain about this place.

Pizza is great....but sloowwwwwww service! Called in our order for pick up...waited the allotted time, and went to pick it up. When we got there we had to wait an additional 30 minutes!! And that was for pick up...delivery is even slower!!

This place is run by vapid teenage girls. Don't go here. Goto another location if you want to fulfill your Giordano's deep dish crave because if you come here, you will more than likely get heartburn from rage.

This was a first time visit for me, with friends, some from out of town. The comment of the evening was 'That's a mighty good pizza!' We tried the mozzarella sticks, mushrooms and zucchini, which were tasty if you like fried foods. I ordered a caprese salad also. The tomatoes were a little pale in color but the flavor was good. The deep dish pizza is one of a kind...and tasty! It did take about 35-45 minutes and we ordered as soon as we got in the door. Since we had little kids with us, that was a bit long. Its a good idea to go hungry and start with something while you wait. However, the kids menu worked well. We will go back, I'm sure!

I was looking for a new pizza place to start ordering from since I recently moved to Oswego. I always loved Giordano's stuffed pizzas when I was a kid living in Glen Ellyn, so I was pretty excited to see one nearby. We didn't order deep dish this time, but we ordered a 'specialty' Hawaiian pizza (not my first choice, but my finance was craving one). We ordered the pizza for delivery and when the pizza arrived it was cold, over-cheesed, and bland. The sauce had no seasoning, the cheese was a cold 1/8 thick, rubbery layer blanketing the top, and the pineapple was sparse and most likely from a can. We actually ended up adding our own salt, basil, oregano, garlic powder over the entire pizza to try and make it a little enjoyable. While I can't speak for the deep dish, this cold, over-cheesed, under-seasoned pizza experience doesn't exactly make me want to take a gamble trying.

The food was AMAZING! The Chicago stuffed pizza was by far one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time. Service was great. The manager was a creepy douche man!

Fantastic Chicago style stuffed pizza! It's worth the wait for this huge pizza!

This is THE pizza place in Oswego, in my view. They do a very nice job on their stuffed version. I've had several the past few years and I especially like their stuffed spinach pizza. Their thin crust is pretty good too although it doesn't get near the press. Try it sometime, too. Service can be spotty at times depending on your server. Most are usually pleasant though one kind of rubs us the wrong way. Service may also see slow but that is due to the 45+ minutes it takes to cook a stuff pizza so allow extra time for that if you're ordering it. I might add however, Giordano's is probably the slowest pizza delivery in town, if you're having it delivered to you home. No real qualms but in the end, it is pizza so I'll reserve the four and five stars for finer restaurants but make no mistake, Giordano's makes a very good pizza that rivals the old originals in downtown Chicago.... without the hour drive and parking hassles.

Great food! Great stuffed Chicago-style pizza. The service was a little slow but the food made up for it! Before you go, buy a gift certificate from restaurant.com to make this dining experience a little cheaper.

It has been several years since I have visited this location, but came for a visit recently with family who are from out of town looking for some quality Chicago style pizza. While the pizza was very good, the service was very lackluster and left something to be desired. When we entered the building, there was a hostess at the station, but we were never greeted by her. I was the one who initiated a friendly hello to her! When I told her how many were in our party, (11) she told me it would be a few minutes, which of course, was fine, but I don't think she ever smiled! Our server, who was very sweet, clearly lacked guidance/training. We waited so long for her to arrive to take our drink order, we had already decided our entire order, which she took at that time. Someone in our party ordered a cup of coffee, and was informed that a fresh pot was brewing, and would be up shortly. I believe at least 15 minutes passed before the coffee arrived. Luckily, the coffee was very good! One of the little guys at the table accidentally spilled his drink. We scrambled to gather the napkins at the table to clean it up. The wet pile of napkins sat nearly 30 minutes before she cleared the mess away. Our server would take drink refill orders one at a time, meaning she would ask one of us if we would like a refill, then walk off before asking if anyone else would like one too. One of the children ordered a sandwich. It was brought up with the appetizers, which I thought was strange, as we didn't ask her to do so. He was finished with his sandwich before our pizzas arrived. Empty glasses and plates from our appetizers began to pile up. We began to stack and organize them ourselves. The pizzas finally arrived, but we had to ask for clean plates. Maybe this review sounds petty, but with the amount of money we spent, I believe that we deserved better service. Believe it or not, I was in the service industry many years myself. I understand that it is a difficult, thankless job. Most servers work very hard for their money, and many customers don't understand what is going on back in the kitchen and how it affects your dinner. I have had more than my fair share of customers speak to me like I was their servant, then stiff me. But I always smiled, worked hard, and on a busy night, ran my ass off. My experience with a lot of these chain restaurants is the servers think if they just show up, they deserve 20% gratuity for doing the absolute bare minimum amount of work. (Not saying I got this vibe from our server, just a generalized statement.) Why do I write this review, then? To bring attention to THE MANAGERS of this facility that it is their responsibility to make certain that they have fully trained, competent staff. It wasn't the hostesses fault she didn't welcome us in, or the servers fault she didn't keep our table clear of dirty dishes. It is the fault of management. I know I am not the only one who feels this way based on other reviews. By the way, this is the first review I have ever written about a restaurant on any site. I was not impressed at all with Giordano's and have no intention of dining in this restaurant again.

My first visit here was great, but I wont be coming back after tonight's to go order. I placed my order via phone, my order was repeated back to me and my total was given. Upon arrival I was told a different total, so I inquired about any missing ingredients and all I got were blank stares until the (assumed) manager offered to cook some up on the side. (Still doesn't make up for incompetence.) I paid for my pizza, and left, very annoyed, but the worst is still to come. I get home, still angry about my order being messed up (I've been on a diet and today was my cheat day, so to be eating something that I didn't totally want, made the situation even more unpleasant) I open the box and 3/4 of my pizza was burnt. ...There isn't much else I can say to reiterate how displeased I am. This wouldn't have happened at Lou's.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
