Entenmann’s Thrift Bakery

10802 S Cicero Ave
Oak Lawn, 60453
Reviews:
I love this place! Entenmann's products dirt cheap! About $1.75 for the doughnuts, they also have cakes, breakfast bars, bagels, english muffins, bread, etc. Stuff that expires the next day is like 3/$1. Just buy it and freeze it, you'll have enough bagels to last a week or two for a dollar. If you like Brownberry bread and are sick of paying $4 a loaf, you can get it for $2 a loaf, and it's usually at least a week away from expiration! They have a good selection of the Brownberry bread too, about 5 or 6 kinds.

China Wok Restaurant

Reviews:
I discovered this gem not too far from where I work. I order the Kung Pao (here, "Bao") Chicken at every Chinese restaurant I eat at, and China Wok's is among the best I've ever tried. Everything is always fresh and piping hot, quick and extremely nice service too.
Excellent Chinese. Fresh, hot, delicious! Gives Chitung a run for its money! Try them out before other Chinese joints, the owner is a very nice hardworking woman and does a great job with the quality and taste of the food. My goto chinese spot,
All I got was the tapioca tea. I paid extra for the tapioca. They were hard and uncooked and gross. But the smoothie part was good. Too lazy. wonder what else they are lazy with here

The Great American Bagel

Reviews:
Best bagels and cream cheese. The asiago bagel with jalapeño cheddar cream cheese is my go-to, and is always amazing.
Everything here is DELICIOUS. I like to switch it up every time I go but my favorites would be the bacon egg & cheese or a jalapeño cheddar bagel with cream cheese. Lots of choices and I've always had a good server. I'd also recommend their broccoli cheddar soup or the pasta salad. Not pricy & for the most part quick. I would also recommend asking for light cream cheese as they do load it up but hey some might like that!
they have tons of options for both breakfast and lunch. everything i've had has been good. however, unless you like a pound of cream cheese on your bagel, ask for it lite. who eats that much cream cheese? very wasteful.

Andy’s Frozen Custard

9507 S Cicero Ave
Oak Lawn, 60453
Reviews:
I have to say I thought, "Are these guys crazy? Opening a frozen custard stand on the brink of winter." There were always lines, no matter how cold. I finally tried it not that long ago, and its delicious. I had a regular old chocolate malt. Thick and chocolaty. The one negative: pricey. For a chocolate malt and a milkshake it was over $10. I felt like Vincent Vega when my wife's milkshake was over $5. Just like he said in the movie "That's a f-ing good milkshake."
I went on a very hot day and got me a nice sundae to cool off...
Andy's is good but not great. The custard is very good but it is super expensive. I'm talking $7 for a banana split. If I'm spending that kind of cash, you'll find me at Oberweis.

This place is probably my favorite bar by my house. The crowd is friendly (not always the case with regulars in this area). The prices are crazy cheap. I don't think I've ever had a tab over $12. They have darts and some video games and a lotto machine. It's perfect on cold or rainy nights to sit by the fireplace and enjoy a drink. The service is always top notch too! *Call ahead for late night/holiday kitchen hours-Sometimes it seems closed early**
$1 drafts 3 nights a week (mon, wed, sun) $2 house shots all day everyday. .25 hotdogs during Monday night football. Apple pie shots are the best! Bartenders are awesome! This is my place to get rowdy for cheap. Atmosphere is chill.
A great low key bar. I don't have a single complaint about this place, cheap pitchers and shots, free arcade bowling and darts, lotto scratch off machine and plenty of places to sit. The food is your average bar food but this is my type of bar.

A great local bar. People are friendly. A great bartender that is always nice. And great place to watch the game for the food and good priced drinks. When it's nice out u can play bags in the patio.
This is a decent sports bar in Oak Lawn. I actually miss living near it. The crowd ranges from normal to strange depending on the hour/day. It's located right next to Fox's and you can order delivery right to the bar. I wish more bars in the area would up their game in the craft beer department. As long as you can stand a somewhat boring beer list you'll be fine here.
This place belongs in Cooperstown and Canton. Definitely in my Hall of Fame for bars. I was visiting from Seattle and I felt like a regular. Michelle, the bartender, was terrific. After a little while, I felt like we had known each other for years.

Wagner Seafood

9626 S Pulaski Rd
Oak Lawn, 60453
Reviews:
I was in the mood for a fried fish sandwich for lunch. My husband did his Googling magic and found Wagner's. Apparently, there was a newspaper article from a few years back touting them as being 1 of the top 5 fish restaurants in Chicago. I've lived in this area almost all of my life, and have never been to Wagner... I am so sorry I haven't tried them until now. The store is located in a defunct area in Oak Lawn, but don't let that deter you from going in. When walking in, it looks more like a fish monger market rather than a restaurant.. especially since there is no place to sit and dine in. They fry the food fresh, made to order... no grill. The gentleman, Mick, was very pleasant. When we got home, we opened our containers.. I had a grouper sandwich with fries... the hubby ordered cod dinner (fries & slaw)... My grouper was tasty. The fish portion was bigger than the bun! My husband says the cod was delicious and flaky (he normally doesn't like fish). He even mentioned possibly going back for dinner. We will most likely go back on Friday, for the specials. This was an awesome find.
Good service and nice people, that's about it.. Way over price and shrimp plus fries tasted it was cooked from last week's oil. Very disappointed.
I have been meaning to try this place for about 2 years so when driving home one day and I happened to be hungry I decided to give it a shot. I would rather give them 3.5 stars but since I have to round it I would edge them up to 4 due to being friendly staffed, attentive and good quality. I got the walleye dinner. It was cooked to order, which is good. I like things fresh. The price was adequate. The dinner comes with fries, coleslaw, and sauce. The fries were good. The slaw was ok. The sauce did it's job. The walleye was very good quality. Very fresh tasting. There was no seasoning though, even in the breading. I expected at least some salt or such. So it left a bit to be desired. Overall, it was very much a positive experience. I will definitely be going back, probably to try the shrimp or catfish.
