Just retruned from deployment...Alex's pie is the best! He was nice enough to also make garlic knots...they were Awesome. Alex is a great guy making some great pies...if you want east coast real thin and chewy crust, wonderful sause without being sweet, please don't pass this place up.
Great pizza... Period! Reminds me of authentic Italian pie from Italy. Once you start thinking about the pizza, you just can't stop yourself from picking up the phone to order. Great pizza!!
O'Fallon is inundated with pizza options, both chain and local, and Alex's is one of the BEST. I eat here way more than a girl on a diet should because it is so delicious. I cannot vouch for authenticity, as I've never had pizza in New York, but this pizza is GOOD. Alex, the owner and sole employee (and total sweetheart), used to work in pizzerias in NYC and somehow ended up here making his own. Lucky us! I definitely recommend eating here. The only "cons" to Alex's is there is no delivery option and because he runs the place 100% solo an order takes 20-25 minutes versus the 10-15 of the chain places down the street. WELL worth the wait and few minutes drive to grab it! I like that he uses all fresh veg on his pizza, including mushrooms! There are a few places in the area that used canned...gross. Veg on his pizza always come out just right and don't make the pizza soggy. The crust is thin and a little chewy, not the "cracker" style of STL. Give it a chance and you'll be back again and again! We've had the pizza and calzones - no complaints on either.

Different style of pizza. Like the chewy New York dough type feel to the pizza. Can eat a whole large by myself but I have to share. No real place to sit down at eat, designed more for carryout. Recommend you try it at least once, most likely you'll be back for more.
Love Alex's pizza!! Real east coast pizza right here in Ofallon! This is my go to pizza place- check him out! You won't be sorry ;)
We moved to Ofallon a year ago and we have eaten at most of the local eateries. To say that this area is starved for some good restaurants and take-out eateries would be an understatement. We have little kids so we have had pizza at most of the chains and from the local Gia's Pizza. Alex's was good. I didn't think it was a "dive" at all. Just because it's small and there isn't room to eat doesn't mean it's a dive. It was clean and organized. As stated on other reviews, the owner does it all. He takes the orders, cooks them up, and runs the register. I didn't see another body in there. We got a large pepperoni pizza, a stromboli, and a calzone. The pepperoni pizza was much closer to East Coast thin crust than anything else around here. It wasn't award winning, but it was good. I thought the calzone and stromboli were pretty good as well. The owner was very nice, told me about how he escaped from Albania in the early 80s, and gave my young son a high five and a sucker. Overall, I enjoyed it. We will be grabbing takeout from here again in the future. It isn't going to blow you away, but compared to other local options, it's definitely towards the top of the list.

This is truly a hidden gem in the O'Fallon area. The service was fast and friendly, the selection of food while varied wasn't overwhelming and the quality and taste of the food was some of the best Thai food I've had in awhile. We started with a chicken satay that was juicy and tender and served with a peanut sauce that was full of flavor along with some cucumber on the side that balanced it all out. The wife had drunken noodles with tofu that was prepared perfectly. The tofu was crispy while not oily as some fried tofu is. I ordered the chicken with cashew and veggies, extra spicy. While not as hot as I would have liked they were quick to bring out extra spices to allow me to doctor it up like I wanted. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
I've been here a few times with my boyfriend. He's Laos and he says the the food is pretty authentic Thai/Laos food! Spring rolls: very good and fresh tasting! larb gai: very very very good! This is my favorite here! I absolutely love it! Papaya salad: get it level 5 heat if you tolerate spicy was. Chicken and shrimp Pineapple fried rice: very sweet and moist. It's not dry like most places. Shrimp Pad Thai: it's also sweet and moist. Not dry. I'm not a pad Thai fan since most places make it really dry. Zap noodle doesnt. Beef Panang curry: they over did it on the coconut milk but it's not to bad. Shrimp tempura: the batter is very fresh and crispy. Shrimp is very flavorful. Esaren: chicken was ok, but combined with papaya salad is good. Pot stickers: please pass on these. They're prepackaged frozen. For the price it's a total rip off considering you can purchase a 16 pack at the Asian grocery store for 4$. 1 star off because we had ordered beef salad and the beef was old. Smelled and tasted sour. Sent it back and they took it off the bill. That was very nice. I will be back to try the beef salad some other time. Other than that all food was good!
Just spent the night in ofallon and couldn't stomach your "steak and shake" type place. I loved this place-they made my food actually hot! I did order the max heat level but its rare they actually make it hot. The lady working was super friendly too. I ordered the udon drunken noodles. Wish I had this in Oak Park, Il! I never write reviews but had to cause I loved this place.

The Egg & I

Reviews:
The servers were helpful, it was a very busy morning when we came to eat and we didn't feel to neglected. Sadly the quality wasn't there, we often eat at First Watch and expected the food and flavors to be on par. No such luck.
While the Egg & I is clearly a breakfast/brunch type place the food is clearly top notch and the chefs have a complete grasp on properly cooking of their menu item; it's clearly some of the best local talent around. This was my third visit here and I plan to keep coming at least monthly. The servers here are the best I've seen in a long time; very polite and professional to anyone who comes in the door. So far, we've come in on a weekday, at mid-morning after 10:30am. The "downshift" between breakfast and lunch crowd, it was fairly packed still; with the wait staff busing the tables but with smiles on their faces (a rarity in most modern restaurants). On the breakfast menu, they have 8 different varieties of the Eggs Benedict: (7 in their own Benedict column and the Cambridge Skillet which is a heavier version of an Egg's Benedict). They have a wonderful "tomato hollandaise sauce"; that's is a unique twist on the traditional hollandaise sauce to provide more flavor to the Benedicts choices on the menu. So far I've had the traditional EB, the Parisian Benedict, and the Cambridge Skillet; all were perfect every single time I couldn't ask for better service or quality from the staff and cooks. I love the "Key West Sunrise Cooler" (A mixture of lemonade, orange juice and Sprite® with a splash of grenadine) is a nice morning pick me up with a free refill included. They have all Coke Products for beverages.
Had the corn beef hash. Awesome! Served very hot. Take your time eating this. Had my eggs basted & they were perfect. They have Apple Butter for my English Muffin...wow. The Jalapeño sauce is great alternative to Tabasco. Check this place out!

Peel Wood Fired Pizza

I went here under protest as my wife is culinarily adventurous and I am not. We had some pretzel rolls with a parmesan and a mustard dipping sauce as well as the coconut chicken to sample. All of this was very good. Then I ordered a custom pizza of parmesan sauce, chorizo, prosciutto, and feta. It sounds weird, but this was an amazing pizza. They should come up with a mexi-greek-italian name and make it a staple. The dryness of feta with the wet chorizo and tasty prosciutto played off each other perfectly. My wife had the wild mushroom staple and added chicken and tomatoes. It too was excellent. She raved about it all evening. Go give Peel a shot and enjoy your meal like we did.
Very cool place, pizza amazing, they brew their own beer...a must go place The pizza dough is sooooo good... Love their menu, very cool with metal on the cover... You have to try it once and you will be returning, promise. .. Try weekend, I heard that upstairs, chef make special...need to go and find out myself...
I was a little upset because we came in right at opening on a Wednesday and we were sitting for over 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge us before another server had to step up for her. Jamie was awesome! The pizza was delicious and the double IPA was nice and strong and crisp without feeling way too hoppy. Ended up having wonderful service. It will be our new go-to date night. Thanks Peel!

Shooters

Reviews:
Went to Shooters for dinner last night. Never had been before. If you are going for the first time here is a piece of advice....get the deep fried ribs and order as many of them as you can eat!!! They were AMAZING! They slow cook their ribs like most places do, but the deep fried ribs they coat in some sort of brown sugar rub and drop them in the deep fryer. What is on your plate is nothing short of heaven on a rib bone. The best ribs I've ever had. Unbelievable. We also had an order of Wings for an appetizer. They were very good juicy chicken wings and the sauce was hot, but not crazy hot... exactly what I'm looking for in a hot wing. The only thing keeping me from giving this place 5 stars was that the service was a little slow considering the restaurant wasn't very full. I will say though, the food was well worth the wait. The other thing was that I was a bit disappointed with was the sides I had ordered with my ribs. The sweet n sour cole slaw was not too bad, but I didn't feel like it had much flavor. And the potato salad was, for lack of a better term, "fluffy. It was like a really fluffy mayo based potato salad, but my serving was almost all "fluff" and no actual potatoes, and again was very bland tasting. But the friend I ate with ordered fries and onion rings, which i also tried, and they were both delicious. Overall though, this place was great. Fun atmosphere and AMAZING deep fried ribs. Will definitely be frequenting this place!
Don't take much stock from the reviewers who can't spell. We went here twice during a weekend, and I admit I only had: deep fried sugar ribs, deep fried sugar wings, and onion rings. If you don't like those things, well, I apologize for your outlook on life. Maybe you were not raised with love, I don't know. Because when I ate here, I gave thanks to the good Lord who bless us here in America with such nice things as Shooters' Deep Fried Ribs. I may die that much sooner from all the ribs I ate, but that's okay. I couldn't imagine enjoying myself more if I stood in line at that place in the city.
I travel for a work and the people at this place made it feel like home. Most people in the area showed a good bit of animosity to this Texan when I lived here last year. Not at this place. Nice little neighborhood bar in O'fallon. Service is fantastic and the food is off the fing Hook. I think I ate everything in the menu within a mouth and its all good.I have nothing bad to say about the place. The people that go there seem to be more on the classy side which is kind of a shock to me. Sweet smoked wings are a must eat. The best in the world!! Way better then Smokey Bones down the street. It's also a great place to watch games.
