Most Brown's Chickens are franchised, so they have their own little quirks, overall the chicken is usually the same, although there is variation on the fried mushroom recipe sometimes. This particular Brown's location offers spicy versions of their chicken (its the only one I've seen do this), which is ok, but not really what I go to Browns to get. Their mushrooms are so-so at this location. So far the Mundelein location or the one off of Lawrence in Chicago are my reference, "best" versions of the restaurant. Please see may other Brown's Chicken review for the Chicago location on Lawrence ave for my comprehensive chicken-centric review of Brown's Chicken.

Eh food isnt that great anymore. Came here before for their apple pie pockets. Now they no longer sell it. No reason for me to come in until I had dinner due to business reason. Eh. Chicken dipper was ok. Nothing to write home about. The biscuit was undercooked. The italian beef was supposed to be extra dry it was soggy. Cheese wasnt even melted. Not eating here again even if other people at work want to eat here.

Ew. First and last time at any Brown's Chicken. Got a 2 pc fried white meat meal and it was dry and tasteless. One huuuuuuge breast and one dinky wing. The interior of restaurant looks so dated and dirty. Tables have a sticky film over it. Lost my appetite sitting there waiting for my meal.

Another dud in Northbrook. I see a doctor near here and generally stop somewhere in the area for a quick lunch right before the appointment. Why I choose fast food is a choice based on time. I really should leave a few minutes earlier so I can get a better meal, or I should simply wait and eat later on. I though the idea of Brown's sounded good. It's been years since going to one. It was around 12:30PM on a Friday and there were only a few people in there. Since the last time I ate at a Brown's Chicken, they have expanded their menu greatly. They still have fried chicken, but added a lot of other non-fried options. For some reason, I chose the pulled pork sandwich. It was way too sweet and fatty. I won't mention what it looked like when I opened the bun, but we'll just say I lost what was left of my appetite when I took a quick look. Two stars rather than one because at least the people behind the counter were n ice, and the service was fast. But, that does not make up for the food. Oh well...

Wow, I felt compelled to write this review based on my recent order t here. We picked up some Brown's for a picnic at our son's preschool. The white meat was so dried out--all of it, that it was inedible. The breasts were like thoroughly dried out and chalky tasting. I'm not sure how they managed to do this and not burn the crust--maybe it was from sitting under the heating lamp all day? I have no idea--no matter--I would probably never order from here again. The mushrooms were the only saving grace food wise. The staff was friendly and seemed to care. Also, even if the chicken weren't so horribly overcooked, it really didn't taste like I remember it tasting back at the old Wheeling Brown's that I always loved. Perhaps I'll give the well-rated Chicago location a try, but Northbrook no more.

This Brown's has gotten better. The last handful of times I went, service was nice and quick, food was mostly prepared as it should be. Now if they could just overhaul the eating area, it could be very inviting. I finally tried the Italian Beef. Avoid it.

I wanted to like this place, I really did. Visiting from out of town and with a packed schedule, I came here for dinner despite it being a 15 minute drive because fried chicken and mushrooms sounded great. Even with my stomach growling from hunger, this place was quite disappointing. The chicken was so so, the mushrooms were decent, but everything in general was subpar. One of the onion rings (which I didn't finish which, if you know me, is saying A LOT) was 100% batter. It was like biting into a hush puppy ring which would be cool, I guess, if I had ordering hush puppy rings (you heard it here first - if you make hush puppy rings and make millions I expect a cut). Even the soda from the fountain was off. In the end, this was time, money, and calories wasted. I feel bad because I sympathize with small business owners, but I have to be honest.

I have visited this location on and off since the mid 1980's and it never really had a clean atmosphere to it, even when the dinning area was freshly remodeled years back. As far as I'm concerned this location has hit an all time low. This review is based on my most recent two visits within the last two weeks. This place smells bad. I'm thinking the garbage cans never get washed out in the dinning area. The man at the register was wearing a shirt that looked like it hadn't been washed all month. I know the difference between getting food on your shirt during a busy workday and not washing your shirt all month, this guy is committing the latter. I noticed this the last two visits there. Both times I was served chicken that looked and tasted like it was under the heat lamps for an hour, also at each of these visits I was told that I would have to wait for biscuits and that I should sit down and they would be brought to me. Each time halfway through my meal I had to walk back to the counter and inquire about the biscuits. If this wasn't bad enough, their soft drinks taste like the hoses to the fountain haven't been flushed in a very long time (the drinks taste dirty and moldy). If all this wasn't bad enough, the (mens) restroom was dirtier than the average north shore gas station restroom. Considering the rate at which Northbrook and Deerfield restaurants are closing, I can't imagine this place surviving much longer.

Mediocre chicken, beat up dining area. Service nothing to write home about. Meh.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
