I decided to use Allegretti's bakery because they had a groupon. I was super happy to have discovered a fantastic bakery that made awesome cupcakes for my friends shower. Delicious and reasonably priced! I will definitely use them again:)

The chocolate cake donuts are the best I have ever had. And the pizza bread - if you are lucky to get it before it sells out...DELICIOUS! Honestly, everything I have had there is so good and when I bring it to parties or for guests, they cannot stop complimenting.

Wow, unbelievable awesome, fresh donuts. I just tasted them yesterday at work and was really blown away by the taste and freshness of them. I love donuts, but I don't eat them that often because that aren't exactly health for you. In the 40 years I have eaten donuts.....these are the best I have every tried. I will now have to try their cannolis....let's see how they compared to Caputo's cannolis(my all-time favorite )

Kind of sad. I got there today at 7:30am. I had an appointment nearby . I wanted to bring donuts. Also had to get rye bread and such for myself. Well, I left. I waited awhile and there was only 1 employee helping people. It would have been 8 before I was taken. I went to Sweet Connections instead. Not the same but I got in and out.

They are the best bakery that I have been to in a while. I had a small football that was made out of cake and chocolate icing on Saturday it was delicious. I went the next day in a blizzard from the south side of Chicago to get some more for my Super Bowl party they were sold out but they had a bigger one for the Super Bowl that cake was the hit of my Super Bowl party.

This establishment has been here for years! Coming here on St. Joseph's Day/ San Giuseppe to order nothing else but our traditional Italian St. Joseph's Day sweet, zeppole. The demand is so high today, that there are over 15 people waiting in this small bakery for the zeppole to finish being made. Selling so many, they can't keep up. Allegretti's was also featured on NBC's Chicago Fire a few months back. Great neighborhood bakery.

Delicious, delicious, DELICIOUS pastries! My mother introduced me to this cute little, family owned bakery with their chocolate covered pound cake. Instantly fell in love. Allegretti's has plenty of options and are creative with their desserts! Would totally recommend them to others for the pound cake, cannoli's, and cookies.

I blame my mom and aunt. They introduced me to donuts from Allegretti's and ever since, I crave them. I dream about them. I need them. It's the only thing I've had from there thus far but, woah, talk about a beautiful donut. My favorite is the frosted cake. Their frosting is nice and crisp and the cake super moist. In fact, now I'm going to have to go there in the morning tomorrow because writing this review is making me need donuts again. Thanks, Yelp!

I'm a huge fan of good pastries, their coffee cakes are very good but the cherry strudel is fenomenal !!! The best in Chicago area so far. I'm giving 4 stars because coffee cakes and strudels are the only goodies I tried from their selection.

Three words: whipped crème cakes. No where, upon no where do they do it better. And for those of you who say 'fie on butter-cream', it's even more better. This little storefront is located in a relatively small strip mall, with decent parking, and is adjacent to other businesses that cater to the European contingent living amongst them. For specialty cakes, we have been coming here for years. But don't just stop at the cakes, the cookies (I love the biscuit tortoni which are almond-coconut) are also great. They also have the traditional lemon Italian cookies with that awesome lemon-brandy flavor. Baked goods seem to go really fast here; we usually order ahead or call ahead. But for the price, the quality, and the friendly folks behind the counter; it's great.

This was my first and last trip to Allegretti's. The cake I got for my 30th birthday was very, very disappointing. The inside of my cake was supposed to have a fruit filling and whipped cream. It had both of those things, IN MASSIVE AMOUNTS. There was so little actual cake on the inside of this monstrosity, it literally looked like they baked one single layer cake, split it into three layers and just heaped on the filling. It was a mess. The following day, the amount of filling had completely saturated what cake was in there and there was no longer any texture. It was all just mush. To top that off, the butter cream frosting on the outside was just not good. Canned frosting would have been an improvement. I ate a sliver of the cake, my husband did the same, the rest went right into the garbage can on day 2. What a waste of money!!!

I've been coming to Allegretti's for Zeppole (St. Joseph Cakes) all my life and now that I work in the area, a yearly visit to pick up several dozen of these delicacies is always part of my plan. During this visit I noticed a Yelp sticker on the door and decided to check in and to my surprise a 15% check-in offer popped up on my phone! The owner or manager didn't seem to know what it was or the benefit that a Yelp check in can bring to a business but they honored the coupon anyway and I was off with my two dozen pastries.

I've only had cannolis from here but they are worth writing a review for. They are $1.90 each (for the big ones) so they aren't exactly cheap if you're buying in bulk but they too tasty! It looks like they don't have a great selection otherwise, but I'd just come for the cannolis!

I love this bakery nothing bad to say about it all the coffee cakes are great the donuts are to die for and everything is more than reasonably priced. Definitely the definition of what deserves 5 starts on yelp.

They have a huge selection! They are very resonable, and their cakes are amazing! I would recommend their cannoli cake, strawberry/banana cake, and their pumpkin pies! Great service too!

  • Annette U.

Just had a cannoli from here-ahh-amazing. I will have to get here right when they open to try the other treats-probably will try riding my bike here to burn off all those delicious calories. They also have foccacia and other savory delights. So happy to meet my new Italian lover.

I have been going to Allegretti's Bakery for some time. A local neighborhood bakery and well known. No matter what kind of products I buy they have terrific product and excellent service. There are other bakeries in the area and to me they are the best!

Although I am guessing this may have changed ownership over the years, it is pretty much the same as it was when I was a kid. I will spare you(me) how many years ago this actually was, but suffice it to say it spans a few decades. It is a simple bakery serving Italian influenced breads, pastries, cookies, and most importantly proper cannoli. By that I mean, you order one or six, they grab a shell and fill it to order. The ricotta filling is lightly sweet with just the right amount of semi sweet chocolate and citron for my taste. Wafer thin crispy shells with a hint of Marsala wine and cocoa. The ends are dipped in crushed green colored nuts. Also if you get there early enough on the counter will be the pizza bread. This rectangle consists of pizza dough, good quality tomato paste and cheese, that's it. Simple well balanced yeasty goodness. I could eat the whole thing no problem, if I was not currently in the carboholic protection program. Clemenza would be proud. Shoot over here and check it out sometime, leave the gun, take the cannoli.

Allegretti's is fantastic. When I lived on NW Side this was the go to for cannoli. I also love the cannoli dip and the donuts are probably some of the best I've ever had. If in the area, stop by and try it out.

This bakery has the best Dutch Apple Pie, It IS great!!!!. The Italian cookies are rather good too.

  • Lenny G.

Pretty good bakery. The doughnuts are really good (though maybe a bit greasy). The prices are great. I didn't get to try the cakes. The only complaint is that it's a pretty small place with less variety of selections than I had hoped.

Our family loves the donuts !! They are a stable at all family parties. And now the extended family travel from all over the northwest suburbs for their own celebrations. We always call ahead and place an order to guarantee they are there waiting.

We stopped in for some Italian pastries but changed our plans as soon as we saw Allegretti's donuts. Much to my surprise, their donuts were awesome. One was an apple cider cake donut, which I had never had before. It was great. Another hit was the chocolate cake donut. I picked up a cannolo, too, but it was just OK. The stars of the show here are the donuts.

Bought some zeppoles a few weeks ago. They were delicious! Can't wait to buy some next year!

Met Ace and he let me try the carrot cake because I told him my moms is the best I have ever had, needless to say his out did my moms, just don't tell her I said that. Great place has been in the area since 1962, family owned and operated, can't wait to go back and try more yummy pastries. Oh and the chocolate donuts are to die for!

NOT bad, I've had better cake, prices are NICE, I will go there again

The absolute BESTEST EVER chocolate frosted CAKE donuts. i have no idea why these things are soooooo addictive, but they are. The vanilla frosted ones are second and even the plain cake donuts are wonderful. Worth driving LONG distances for these delights!! Now I will never get any...cuz they ALWAYS run out of these first. But learn the secret and order first!! You will not be disappointed.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! BEWARE!!! I was informed by one of their "staff" I would have to pre-order zepoles. However, upon picking them up, I was told they didn't make enough and therefore my order wasn't filled. That's it. Just "sorry. have a nice day." Stupid me pre-ordered an angel food cake, and it happened again!!!! When I arrived, I was told the order wasn't filled. Manager didn't even come out to apologize personally or explain. I expressed immense frustration to a very disinterested 17 year old girl. VERY disappointed and will NEVER be going back there again. Will also be passing the word along to others about their unreliability and nonchalant, rude attitude. Agree with Ron S about the service, too. That must be the benefit of hiring immature, unfriendly girls - cheap help!

Cannoli are good and the eclairs. I enjoyed the Easter bread too. I'll be popping in for sweets when I am in the neighborhood.

Nice cute bakery. We had the strawberry tarts which were good and other desserts which were all very tasty. I would go again if ever I am in the area.

Delicious made to order cakes, excellent St. Joseph's sweets - never bad order. Everything I have ever bought here as been to die for. The bakery is family owned and shows the pride of ownership.

The BEST chocolate donuts EVER! Drive a half hour like me, or more if you have to, just to try one. You'll not regret it. We have also used this bakery for birthday, baptism, graduation, etc. cakes as well. The other thing they are famous for is their chocolate frosted poundcake, which again, is outstanding. When St. Joseph's Day comes around (March 19, for all you pagans), make sure you try their Zeppole. It's an Italian custard filled puff pastry which is out of this world!! God I'm hungry now....

My wedding cake was from here...it was DELICIOUS. People still ask me who was the bakery and its been 1.5 years since the day. I brought in the picture of what I wanted and they did it even better! The cake tasting was really fun and we picked out a get combo! Chocolate cake with chocolate custard & Cannoli filling....AWESOME

Great bakery! Let me start off by saying I am not a cake or "sweets" person, but their stuff is totally yum. The Mirage banquets are contracted with this place so we just went along with their "wedding package" and were pleasantly suprised. I posted a pic of the cake and it tasted as good as it looks - even better. It was a beautiful cake! My pic doesn't look as good as the profesional pics, but it gives you the idea. A little over a year later we ordered my son's christening cake and it was also delish and beautiful! I am now trying to find a bakery closer to home for my God daughters christening and and can't find a place that makes me happy. I'm looking at taste, design, and costs and I think overall making the trip into Norrige is going to be a must! So far I've been quoted on the pricey side everywhere around here for the same thing, for about $50 dollars less. I'm looking for a cross cake that feeds 60 w. strawberry filling. They are charging $75 while everyone else is quoting $125 - 140. It's a no brainer! Horray for Allegretti's!

I will be honest and say I never bought a baked item here. My reason for going here is to buy pizza dough. For a ridiculously low price of $1.35 you can get a dough ball for what would make a small deep dish or medium thin-crust pizza. I go home, add sauce, cheese and toppings and the end result is better than any frozen pizza and costs a lot less than ordering one. If you want to be a gourmet chef and make your own pizza without the hassle of mixing dough and aging it, this is the place to go.

I love this bakery the cakes are so delicious I've been getting birthday cakes here since I was a tot. Real whip cream real strawberrys. Oh gosh the canollis are yum! And the canolli cake also very good. Every canolli lover should check this place out.

  • Kristen S.

Every single star that I gave Allegretti's is for the cannoli cake alone. I haven't had anything else from here, but they have the most amazing cannoli cake. Better than any other bakery.

Our family has been a huge fan of Allegretti's bakery for years. Their cakes are delicious as well as beautifully decorated. We've also had their pastries for our sweet tables at various functions. Our guests have never been disappointed with the quality of their products! Grat bakery!

I love this place. It has been around for ever and is always consistantly good and delicious.Love the mini cannoli,I don't feel so guilty eating 1 or 2. They fill them as you order them, so they are not sitting around and getting soggy. The Italian cookies are always a good choice as well. I know many people love the cannoli cake from here. It is delicious, but 3 bites is plenty for me, very rich! The chocolate eclairs are also very yummy, but not as good as my childhood favorite,But that place is closed anyway. They are one of the best, give them a try!

  • Stella S.

Yummm! The custard filled b-day cakes rock the casbah!!! For real. When we really like someone, this is where we get their cake. Everyone else...Jewel cakes all the way.

  • Ren H.

I love the cakes and pastries here! We always get birthday cakes for people in the office from here and there is never a let down! The staff is awesome too!

  • Ron S.

I would have to say that the bakery goods here are alright not the greatest. The cookies always seem hard instead of soft. The girls that work there always seem like they are in a hurry to get you out of there.
