Best spot in the Montgomery area. Carne Asada was good. Al pastor was a bit on the greasier side. Service was good. Horchata was mixed well. You have to go up & order unlike other authentic Mexican spots. Tapatios still my favorite spot.

First visit was today, food was amazing. You made a customer out of us for life. Super excited that you also deliver.

After living in the area for 4 years and driving by this place countless times, we finally decided to pull our heads out of our asses and gave this place a try. Now I am kicking myself for missing out on the tastiness that is Taco Madre. Holy cow. First of all, the service is great. We were greeted with a smile and the manager stopped by our table multiple times to make sure everything was good (and it was!). We ordered and sat down to some really tasty chips and salsa - nice, crispy chips with a really yummy seasoning on them and warm salsa with fire roasted tomatoes and peppers. I'm not a huge chips and salsa fan, but I could eat these all day! Our tacos came and they too were fantastic. I had the carnitas and al pastor and both were excellent. Very solid rice and beans with some lovely little sauces to accompany everything. I ordered some steak and chilango tacos to bring home to my husband and they were ready right as we were ready to leave... perfect timing... and the hubby absolutely raved about them. Needless to say, we have finally found our go-to spot for truly excellent mexican food!

If u r looking for great mexican food then come here. I had the big beef burrito and it was amazing. I'm picky about my mexican food because I'm from down south and that is my vice. I do have to say this place us better then back home based on flavor. The chips are fresh and not all greasy like a lot of places are. 7 different kinds of salsa. Little bit of a bite(warm) but great flavor. Last thing is their guacamole is fresh with chopped onions. Damn I'm hungry now. Its on the corner of baseline and hwy 30. It looks closed but if the open sign is flashing go on in. You will not be disappointed. Come hungry! ENJOY

Holy cow! Good thing we tried this place... Authentic and AWESOME! The warm chips are complimentary and covered in a delicious seasoning. My hubby and I ordered tacos and shared so we could each try a variety. He says the al pastor and steak tacos take the cake, but the chicken and carnitas were my favorites. Maybe this shows how good they all were! To top it off, the people who work there couldn't be more attentive and friendly. Such a simple place, but it's a good thing that delicious food and nice people are all I'm looking for! Can't wait to go back. :-)

Steak tacos were so tender and flavored nice. Guacamole is great and they have homemade chips! All they are missing is the Margaritas!

My maiden voyage to this place that has gotten excellent reviews from everyone on Yelp & TA..... live 10 minutes away but never tried it due to the outer look of the place. On a sub-zero night around 6 pm, place was completely empty and figured no problem---- decided to eat there instead of takeout. Chips & salsa were very good---salsa DOES have some heat but no blistering either. Guacamole was excellent! Huge portion (I ordered the 'half' portion, too!) By the time the shrimp tacos I ordered came to the table, I was fairly full but managed to eat 2 of the 3 I had ordered. They were very tasty-- wrapped in double soft corn tortillas--- and a very interesting & delicious sauce as the base. Overall, excellent food all the way around Reason for not giving 5 stars is the restaurant feel when you eat there. It wasn't a coincidence that while I ate there alone with maybe 8-10 other empty tables around me, there were at least 10 people who came in to pickup their orders & leave. It was also pretty cold in there----yes, it was -3 degrees outside but c'mon--- they do have working heat! I'd highly recommend it for anyone that enjoys excellent Mexican food as I will be going back for sure---- to pickup!

A great place serving excellent Mexican food at a reasonable price. Before you go to Pepe's or any other sorta Mexican place, check out Taco Madre. Ask for their avocado green taco sauce for a real treat. Their al Pastor is wonderful too. Best Mexican place in Montgomery or any of the nearby towns without a doubt. Check them out, you won't be sorry!

Just returned from here. I had the fish and shrimp tacos. Very tasty, but a little spicy and I like spicy. They give you chips and salsa while you wait on your order. I think this is a nice gesture. It definitely would make someone want to return. I know I will be back. The entire staff was welcoming and very nice.

Awesome job Israel! The steak meat is great, none of that ground up crap other places pass as steak. Fresh guacamole yep, awesome. Thanks Israel for the close deliverey. Dedicated business owner.

We stopped in for dinner with our kids and had a great experience. The inside is modern and clean. The food and service was great. The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. They put a special seasoning on the chips that was a nice touch. Highly recommend the fish and shrimp tacos. My kids had the chicken burrito that was very generous for a kids meal. We will definitely be regulars.

Eh, it was ok. Tacos were bland, but enchiladas had more flavor. I would try it again because it's convenient and the prices were reasonable.

My wife and I live in the area, and visited Taco Madre on 7/11/14. This was our first visit to this restaurant. Other than the restaurant being small, the service and food were both very good! The food is fresh and prepared to order! We will definitely be back.

  • Belen V.

This place was Amazing!!! The tacos we're delicious! We ordered steak and Chilango tacos. The steak is actual steak cut in big chunks. The chips in salsa were also very good. Definitely our favorite new Mexican restaurant!!

  • A. Y.

Taco Madre has the best Mexican food in the area. We are so glad they opened. This same building used to house a Mexican restaurant owned by different people and it was dirty inside with mediocre food. The new owner has done an excellent job so far. The inside is very clean now. The service was great too. The food was even served on nice plates. They were polite and friendly. We dined in, and they brought us chips with warm homemade salsa which was great. They also gave us 3 different hot sauces, and told us what each one was. Our favorite was the avocado hot sauce. The food tasted authentic. Great beans and rice, which is a good way to judge a Mexican restaurant. The beans were even served in a little hard shell taco bowl. We went back a second time within a week!

Chilango Tacos or Nachos are my go to for this place. I can't find this anywhere else. The combination of their chorizo, steak and jalapeños with hints of bacon is fantastic. I also really enjoy their salsas. The warm salsa that comes out with their 'made in house' seasoned chips are irresistible. And if your fortunate enough to visit Friday through Sunday, you can try their Avocado Salsa!!

  • Josue O.

It's nice to see a local, family-owned shop nearby serving ridiculously fresh, authentic Mexican food. The steak they use for the tacos and burritos is juicy and flavorful and I love it. But, my favorite is their pastor. I can destroy a half dozen of these tasty seasoned-pork tacos. And don't forget to try the refreshing pineapple-coconut punch! The service here is very friendly, so chat with the ladies here while you wait, and the restaurant itself is so clean, it borders on stark. A little more decor couldn't hurt, but it is hard to fault their cleanliness!

    (4)
  • Joe O.

Solid three stars. Five being Bîen Trucha in Geneva. Good food. The restaurant is basically a good traditional mexican restaurant with an attempt at being trendy. The atmosphere is a bit gloomy, but the staff is super nice. I'd give them four stars if their salsas were much better. They aren't spicy at all and a bit on the bland side. But the tacos are solid and well made.

After driving past this place for years I'm glad I finally tried it recently. Although it's a little challenging to enter from west-bound Route 30 (you have to pass it, turn left into the WalMart entrance and then an immediate left into the bank driveway which connects to the side street you can enter the Taco Madre lot from . . . whew! Got that?) I ordered the fish tacos. Based on this initial experience I'll be back. They were excellent. Perhaps not as good as the best I've had in San Diego, but very, very good. Large pieces of fish, expertly fried and with fresh and tasty toppings plus several salsas available to dress them up with. Chips and salsa were also good. They were very busy when I visited on a Sunday, mid-day, and so service was a tad slow but not to the extreme. Well worth the wait for some excellent fish tacos.

  • Rob C.

Taco Madre was excellent, it's a little on the pricy side but probably worth it if you like authentic tacos. We got a variety of different ones and all of them were good, Carne Asada tacos were juicy flavorful and fresh. Pastor tacos were excellent perfect balance of spice and sweetness. Probably the best chorizo taco I've ever had. The beans and rice were average but that's not why I went. They make their own tortilla chips, they're warm and delicious. Will return.

  • Andrea B.

Taco Madre is a hidden gem in Montgomery. The salsa is served warm with fresh tortilla chips. Yum! The food is made fresh to order & Taco Madre also offers take out. We love the steak tacos (Mexican or American style) and guacamole, but the fajitas and burritos are very good as well. Refills are free & the horchata and virgin Pina Colada are delicious! Located off of Rt. 30 in Montgomery. A little cramped for space if you decide to dine in, but an expansion is in the works.

  • Lalo B.

My family and I have been looking for quality Mexican restaurant all over Aurora, Yorkville, Oswego, and finally found it in Montgomery! Tried the burrito Al Pastor, tacos de lengua, tacos de carnitas, and Chile Relleno. All dishes are EXTRAordinary!

  • Gina P.

I am absolutely positively obsessed with Taco Madre. The food is phenom. The atmosphere is casual and they treat everyone like family. Their Mexican style tacos are my absolute fav. If you dine in they give you homemade chips and salsa. I don't think that montgomery has much as far as food options go so not only is Taco Madre a well needed place to dine but it is top notch. I saw a sign recently that said they now deliver....BONUS!!!!

  • S K.

Have been 8 or 9 times now and it's excellent every time. Steak burrito is off the charts. It's been a nice secret so far, but the word is getting out. It's been busier every time I go in. And I hear they are expanding into the space next door, which will be great. But if they keep up the quality and service even that may not be enough space. It's basically a fast/casual counter but the manager Sean treats customers like it's fine dining. He really does a great job. Keep it up Madre! Best food around.

This place has me hooked! I have yet to find any place in this area with steak tacos like Taco Madre's. They grill the steak to a perfection and it is very obvious that they aren't cheap when it comes to the food quality. A place isn't a 5 star in my eyes if it doesn't have a friendly staff, Taco Madre has that. Every time I come, I am greeted with a smile and a sincere welcome. I was speaking with some of the staff members and they did mention to me that they will be expanding to the side and adding a bar area. Can't wait to be able to sit down, have a delicious margarita, and enjoy some delicious tacos. Keep up the great work Taco Madre!!

Best Mexican food around us! They always deliver with a smile and the flavor is delicious!! The fried ice cream and horchata are fantastic! They're always busy, so make sure to give them an hour to deliver. I've never been inside the restaurant though.

YEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!!! I'm hungry and I want Tasty Tacos!?!?!? Low and behold a new taco place should appear. 1-10 The Place: Kinda off the side of the road behind the W.M. Parking lines need to be re-painted. Inside is very minimalist. You have a choice of Black, Grey or Stainless. I hope that a Menu or a Chalkboard with the basics is coming soon, because if there is a line, it's kinda hard to find the printed menus at the front of the line. That said, it's a taco place.... What do you think they have?!?! Location and de-core... 4 The Staff: Pretty cool and outgoing folks, very happy to accommodate you and very hospitable while you wait. I had a bunch of my minions with me and the gave them chips while we waited! Score! Gonna go 10 on staff! The Food: Tacos: I have had all of the tacos, the best was the Shrimp Taco and the Alpastor! 10 Torta: It was good, not a big avocado guy... 8 Nachos: .... This is a sticking point for me.... I HATE Yellow Gunk Nacho Cheese.... It's just oil that tastes like Yuck! Please change to real cheese and just melt it ever so slightly :-). That said, it was a nice presentation and everything else was great! 6.... Good cheese will earn 4 more points! Rice: I've said it on yelp before... I just don't like Spanish rice... It was ok... No rating since I'm bias... Beans: I love that the side comes in a little Chip Bowl, tasty and deliciousness... 10 Burrito: Normal solid Burrito 8 Chips and Salsa: Outstanding!!!! Well seasoned chips with very tasty Salsa, little on the warm side so beware. 11! Pineapple coconut punch!!!: Killer!!! 10! I look forward to seeing this place grow over the coming months! Great owners and food! Little help needed on De-core and ambiance, and a menu would be awesome :-)

  • Caroline M.

The restaurant is right off of route 30. Easy to get to, but a little difficult to leave. It looks dismal on the outside and they could use some better signage. But, I don't judge a book by it's cover (or I guess, I usually don't). So, we went inside anyway. The ambiance is a little strange on the inside, but the food is good. It's a pretty small restaurant. They take your orders at the front cashier, but then bring the food to your table. Drinks are self serve. I'm not 100% sure if chips and salsa are complimentary, but we received them for free. But, they are also listed on the menu for a few dollars. The horchata is delicious and food is delicious as well. Only improvements I noted were maybe some more colorful walls and better decorations. The walls are grey and tables are black, so it's a little dark on the inside.

Oh No, what happened? I think this place went to the owners head with the crowds and reviews. Nacho Supreme with steak went from $6.99 to $9.49 Yiks. I thought maybe the portion would be larger But actually the portion and toppings got smaller. They changed the menu to up prices.. Very disappointed not worth it!!!

  • Chris P.

Nice to see a new place pop up in Montgomery that's actually good. You can tell that each menu item was thought out and planned. This is definitely not the typical Mexican restaurant you will find around here, it's not the best I've ever had but for the area it's definitely my favorite! I wish other restaurant owners gave effort that taco madre does! Thanks!

    (5)
  • Nicole L.

I'm obsessed... This place has The.Best.Nachos. Hands down.... The portions are a bit small, which I'm not used to from a Mexican restaurant, and the cost is a bit high considering this is a highly saturated Mexican food area. But YUM! Their Chorizo tacos are also spot on.

I wanted to give this place 5 stars because it's a great discovery for us. We'e been there twice now, and the first time, we were blown away. This time was good too, but I have to be honest, they blew it with my carne asada. I asked for the steak medium well, and it was rare, or close to it. I think most people would have sent it back. I know they would have taken care of me if I'd sent it back, but I don't mind it rare. Rare just wasn't my preference this evening. On the plus side, the food quality and presentation are way above what I would have expected at a place like this. The price is reasonable, and the service is very very friendly. This place serves some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. I was happy to hear they're expanding, with more seating. This place deserves all the success they seem to be having. In spite of the little issues I had, it's tops on my list for Mexican restaurants!

5++++ stars! Taco Madre is truly one of a kind. So glad I found such a delicious, fresh Mexican restaurant. Everyone is very friendly and the food is incredible. My go to is the 3 taco plate - one mahi mahi, one al pastor, and one steak. Amazing!

  • Michelle N.

We like the food a lot and often order, however, we dread placing phone orders for pick up and that's often what we have to do. Every. Single. Time. Our order is wrong. Every time, the girl on the phone says she can't hear us, no matter where we call from. Placing the order takes about 5 times longer then it should. Then when we get there to pick up and run.... They START making our food. So calling it in was totally pointless. Then when we get home we discover what's wrong with our order, but we never call because that would mean starting the vicious cycle all over again. Wish it wasn't so annoying to order from!

    (3)
  • B C.

So we've been here a couple times.. The person who is supposed to take your order when you walk up to the register is also the same person who happens to be on the phone taking an order at the same time so you kind of just stand there until she's done with her call. The carnitas tacos are probably the best thing here along with their rice and beans. They are to die for! Chicken tacos are good. However, I'm not the biggest fan of the weird seasoned salt they use on their chips and French fries. It's also a little pricy and doesn't have a lot of seating. I also remember being very cold the last time we went. Might of been the fact that there are a lot of windows but I'm sure turning up the heat a bit would've helped. Everyone sitting around us were eating with their coats on.

  • Eddie C.

Tasty authentic Mexican tacos- plain and simple! The carnitas and pastor was overall delicious. The meat was a bit dry for both but still good. The chips and salsa were very good. Mildly seasoned chips and roasted pepper and tomato salsa with a kick. Horchata rice and cinnamon beverage is not on the menu but I highly recommend it. The overall pricing is fair- not exactly a steal. Nice decor though limited seating. I didn't know that ordering takes place at the counter since there was no overhead menu, no visible cash register, no "order here" sign, and the counter was partially blocked by decor. I sat there awkwardly waiting for service until other patrons motioned the staff. There is a sliding scale when it comes to authentic Mexican food. In a predominantly Latino urban area, this would be an average place. I rated this a 5 star because the nearby options are limited and this is in a rural suburban area.

  • Christian C.

A little pricey for just being tacos, but the food is really good, the staff is extremely friendly, and the décor is much improved from the restaurants that have occupied that location in the past. I always end up visiting Taco Madre when visiting my parents. They also deliver now which is amazing.

Best steak tacos#!! They melted in my mouth. They were very reasonable to three tacos rice and beans for $10 you can't beat it and they were delicious I would definitely be back soon

Good place. Ok food. Short hours. Can't figure out why a lot of places in this area close so early. Ordered to go more than 3 times. Still just ok. Not impressed. Just ok.

  • Victor S.

Steak burrito suizo style, chicken burrito, kids tacos, nachos were all delicious. The kids taco came with rice and beans or fries, my adventurous kids chose fries and they took a little while but by no means disruptive to the meal and they bought a dessert for us. It was a sopapilla which is a cinnamon thing. The guacamole was also delicious. Extremely friendly service

Just walked in I was treated like a special guest. I had to do some work on my laptop the waitress came over to give me the Wi-Fi password without me asking. Then I ordered the Maggie Maggie shrimp taco and steak tacos they were the best tacos I've ever eaten in my entire life

The tacos are good. I like that they have a Mexican style and an American style option when you order tacos. I also ordered enchiladas which were good but they got my order wrong. It would be nice to garnish the enchiladas with lettuce, tomatoes and avocado. I guess that would be American style too. You can also see them cook the food. However with my experience it was not too pleasant. I really don't like seeing cooks throwing food to each other. It makes me think what would happen if they drop it. Would I go here again? Most likely not. It was ok. The place is landlocked so you need to make your way to the Walmart on Orchard road to get out.

Was out in Aurora for work and was looking for a non-chain restaurant for lunch. Found Taco Madre on yelp and man am I happy that I did. The food and service were excellent. This is a great gem in the midst of all the chain restaurants. I will def be back soon!!!

Great authentic Mexican! The only thing that would make this place better is a 1$/Taco Tuesday special!

Not happy with Taco Madre for raising their prices. I use to eat here all the time but everything was marked up and I agree the portions got smaller. I will not be coming back to Taco Madre unless they lower the prices.

I love this place!!! If I could eat from this place every single day, I would! The shrimp enchaladas, steak tacos, fish tacos, salsa, chilango taco, Did I mention the salsa?!? Such great food AND service!

A great spot to have lunch. The portions are hearty, the food is delicious, and the service is tops. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa had a good kick to it and it was served hot. I've never had it like that and I enjoyed it. I ordered the chorizo burrito and loved every bite. The burrito was a good size for dinner or for lunch and a nap. My workmates enjoyed their steak burrito and chicken taco salad. They also have Coca-Cola from Mexico (made with real sugar!). Stop in here and give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Being stuck all day in Aurora at softball fields, my family needed some real nourishment. I found Taco Madre and couldn't have been happier! This place is an oasis in a sea of fast food. The outside isn't much to look at, but inside it's the nicest taco joint I've seen. Great prices, freshly cooked tacos, and a killer pineapple juice drink make this place tops in the area. The manager, Isreal, greeted me with a smile and even gave me a few things to try out, on the house. For that alone, I give this guy props. He wants his taco joint to survive, and knows customer service comes first. If you're in the area, don't miss Taco Madre!!

Just got some steeak tacos to go and they were fantastic. They also gave me two kinds of sauce red and green, I prefered the green but stop in and decide for yourself. The girl at the counter was very friendly as was the gentelman who brought me my food. Nice place I'll dine in when I have more time.

Delicious food. They deliver 2!! However the girl who answers the phone has let us sit on hold for over 30 minutes that we ended up going to the facility and her words when we told her we're "oops I forgot" but honestly the fold and management is what keeps us going back

Very good food - had great experiences dining in and with to-go orders. They have always been very quick to fix things. I don't like beans - any kind- and they have had to remake food for me before when I have asked for no beans. You may want to double check just in case you ask for something out of the ordinary.

Very nice choices for tacos and tortas! The salsas are amazing too, and it's super cool that you can get free Horchata refills.

Love this place. The staff is very very nice. I've become more of a local owner restaurant than the big corporate chains. And Taco Madre fulfills that with their great food. My favorite hands down are the steak tacos and the awesome Horchata. Stop in you won't be disappointed. They also have a pretty good layout for dining in. Hope this helps!

We are so thankful for Taco Madre!! We love that they deliver :) We got the supreme nachos and two tortas. We were really impressed with the nachos, especially since they were delivered. It was a very generous portion and delicious! Honestly, we only got a few bites in of our tortas; we were stuffed!! We got to have the tortas the next day for lunch which was amazing. Okay, I lied. We definitely had them for breakfast! We love you and will be ordering again!!

This is the beat Mexican restaurant around here! The new owners really cleaned the place up. Their homemade sauces and horchata are delicious, as are their beans, rice, and every dish we have tried here!

I returned 6 months later. Not sure why its been so long but the food has only gotten better. Plus their salsa's are amazing. Had 3 tacos & all were great. I will definitely be back sooner than 6 months. Need to try their burritos.

UNFRICKIN BELIEVABLE!! Amazing Mexican food cooked to perfection! I am a burrito fanatic and it was the best I have ever had, BAR NONE! I am from the Southside of Chicago and have had great Mexican food, but this blows them out of the water. Another thing is the Steak is grilled and it has that BBQ grill with Charcoal taste...Amazing! Next, their salsa for the chips is awesome! It is roasted warm salsa and it is hot and spicy, perfection. Their sauces are good too and they add a Guacamole type of sauce. Kind of like a Guac/Sour Cream sauce...very different and good. Another great thing is the cleanliness of the restaurant as well as the way they plate their foods artistically and unlike any other Mexican restaurant I have been to other than Rick Bayless joints (and that is high praise)! The price are nice and overall, I cannot say anything remotely negative about Taco Madre other than it is kind of hard to find (stinks for them but good for me since it is not packed), is not open late and the place has made me crave their food everyday! Love it and hope it stays this good forever. IT IS A NEED TO GO MEXICAN RESTAURANT!

  • Donnie S.

This is by far the best mexican food in the western suburbs!!! I wish they would open up another location by my house in Oswego so I don't have to drive so far to get my taco fix. I love their mexican style steak tacos with cheese. YUMMY!!!

Guess I'll be the first to post a bad review but I did not like this place. Went after a friend raved about it & was pleased at first when their chips & warm/spicy/chunky salsa was tasty but was disappointed with my tacos. The meat was good (I got carnitas & alambre) but the shells, one of the most important parts, were TERRIBLE! I tried as soft & hard shell. Soft shell were the lesser of two evils but the hard ones were no different than what come out of an Ortega box from the grocery store. Not authentic tasting. I don't know how they stay in business with sooo many better places in the area.

Great food! Haven't gotten anything we don't like. My husband usually gets the steak taco dinner. Steak is always flavorful with no fat. They have a special hot sauce on the weekends that has avocado and is fabulous! Mahi Mahi tacos are the best fish tacos I've ever eaten.

Ohhh this has to be the best Mexican place in the area! I kept hearing people talk about it. Finally went last night for my husband and I. We started basic with steak tacos and beans and rice. The steak was amazing! Cooked perfectly! There was great taste! No fatty pieces which I hate and normally find in my tacos. The guy taking my order who seemed like the owner was also very nice, friendly, talked to you. The girl who was the server was also sweet. It's a family place, where you can go and they will know you. The price wasn't bad. I ordered 8 STEAK tacos and the sides and it came to 23 bucks. Great portions. Could eat everyday if I wanted to.

I have been in search of a good Mexican restaurant since moving to this area. This place is awesome! I've had the steak and chicken taco dinners which were definitely better than the average mexican restaurant. This place will also deliver if you spend more than $20. Omg! A mexican delivery place!! So happy I found this place!

  • Crystal R.

This place has become one of my fav for authentic Mexican food. I love the steak that they use, it's very tender and flavorful, and the best part is its not fatty like a lot of other Mexican places which you may find a chunk of fat or grizzle with your meat. It's the only place I really eat the refried beans too since it's served in a cute little homemade tortilla bowl. Delicious!!! Would definitely recommend and I hear they deliver now as well!!

My husband and I decided to try Taco Madre last night. We'd passed by it before and were curious. Not sure where J.C. (an other review) ate because nothing was bland and this is the best I've had in a very long time. I had a favorite place that has locations in Aurora but Taco Madre has bumped them down on my favorite list. My husband ordered the enchilada trio. He said that it tasted fresh and that the sauce was good. I had the taco trio and ordered all al pastor as this is my favorite. Excellent. Not too much pineapple perfect spices. I ordered them Mexican style with the cilantro and onion. I agree with another reviewer....the rice was wonderful. Not the usual Mexican boxed rice made with water, flavorful and a perfect compliment to the other food. The beans were served in a taco cup which I thought was a nice touch. They start you off with a bowl of warm salsa and lightly seasoned chips. Very tasty. The sauces they served with the food were excellent. There was an avocado sauce that was to die for. I tried to get the recipe but was told that it was a secret and that only a few chosen knew. That was understandable. Drinks are self serve and refillable. I had the wonderful, not too sweet, refreshing pineapple drink that was a perfect balance to the spice and heat of the salsa. The place is clean, the staff friendly, the food is great, and it's close to my house. It IS as good as it gets. I'll be back to try other items on the menu.

Highest recommendation! I'll start by saying we've tried countless tacos places in the area with no luck finding even an average quality restaurant. Taco Madre exceeded all expectations and offers wonderfully presented tacos made with fine ingredients. Our order included 3 different fresh and chilled salsas and homemade salad & chips. We ordered steak and carnitas tacos and the steak was moist and juicy and carnitas had nice texture and flavorful. Go with the Mexican style over the American prepared tacos. The rice and beans were excellent and had a homemade quality and not the common canned versions. The portions are perfect with an emphasis on quality not quantity. This is clearly not the average Mexican restaurant you expect in this area. The only minus is the sterile interior that is plain and minimal but clean. This place is a welcome find in an off the path location that will be no doubt be your top destination for authentic fine tacos!

  • Jo J.

Been here three times. Shrimp tacos are my favorite, shrimp has great flavor, are meaty and the sauce they use is great. My boyfriend has the steak or pork tacos. He says they are good, have been a little dry once or twice. Salsa is good and chips are NOT the really oily type and are also good. Not your typical Mexican restaurant as far as décor, appears clean and updated although somewhat bare inside. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Seems to take longer than expected to get your food once ordered so plan for a little extra time.

I am so happy to have close (good) Mexican food! Their food take a bit to make, but it is worth every minute. Love their tacos and guac! Not crazy about the warm salsa, but it's not bad. Not a ton of seating, but great for takeout.

I absolutely love this place. There Steak and shrimp tacos are delish! The carne Nortena Plate is just as good. Its like a orgasm in my mouth every time I eat here. The food is very filling and seasoned to perfection. The quality of the food is top notch! I wont go to any other mexican joint in the area. I know at times I have to wait a bit longer for the food then most places but its Definitely worth the wait. GREAT FOOD TAKES TIME!

Great tacos and rice. The tortillas are so soft! Atmosphere is kinda odd... Mexican restaurant... Nothing on the walls... Gray walls and pop music playing... But the service and food makes up for the confusion...

My family really enjoys this place. The salsa is spicy, but you can tell it's homemade because it varies every time we go. This is the only Mexican Restaurant the kids actually request.

Best shrimp tacos outside of San Diego, steak tacos were good also. Tacos are a good size and priced reasonably. My wife and our ten year old daughter ate 2 tacos a piece and were full. Free refills and our waitress was really nice. My favorite taco place in Aurora area. Lastly the salsa is just like Moms.

Absolutely DELICIOUS food! Authentic, tasty, rich flavors, and incredibly good service. We've been looking for a new, local hangout for excellent Mexican fare, and we've found it at Taco Madre in Montgomery. Don't be put off by the location - it's worth driving twice as far for this kind of food. My son & I were biking through Aurora on Memorial Day, looking for a place to have a late lunch. We found Taco Madre using Google Maps and headed over, after calling and finding out they were open! When we arrived, we were greeted & seated immediately. The soft drinks were customer-facing, so we could serve ourselves and that included their smooth, sweet, just-right horchata. The next item on our mind was an appetizer, so we started with the homemade guacamole, which was perfectly seasoned - neither bland nor plain, it was flavorful and fresh, with just the right blend of vegetables, spices, and avocado. We both ordered the 3-taco meal, including rice & beans. EVERY part of the dish was flavorful, with an obvious attention to detail in each area. Each taco was its own, unique creation, an intense combination of steak on one (which we were given a taste of beforehand), shrimp on another, and a seafood combo on the third. We also had ~8 other taco types to choose from - only choosing three was tough! Most of the time, the rice on your plate is an afterthought, but that was *not* the case here - I loved the rice and ate every bit of it. The same held true for the refried beans, which had just the right amount of cheese baked over them. And don't get me started on the sauces they provided to add to our tacos - again, SO FRESH, unique, and savory. We are definitely returning soon with the whole family, so everyone can try their delicious offerings hot and fresh, right out of the kitchen. I understand that they're working on expansion, obtaining a liquor license, and adding a bar - can you imagine how awesome their Margaritas will be??? :D

Love this place. Their guacamole is awesome. My new favorite is the al pastor tacos, Mexican style. Service is OK, food is excellent. We are regular customers!

  • Michael N.

Such great food but for the second time getting delivery it took over an hour both times. Waiting for an hour for a place that is less than 10 minutes from my place is crazy. And the food is cold. Great food to eat in but never order delivery because they don't know how to do it. Both times told it would be twenty minutes and over an hour.

  • Joe F.

Crazy busy, but the food still came out hot and fresh. Will be hitting this place up more often.

  • Nicole M.

This place has delicious Mexican food! We tried it because we saw all the other great reviews, and we were really glad we went. The guacamole is amazingly flavorful, and the melty (chihuahua?) cheese they put on the nachos is to-die-for. I got a veggie burrito with low expectations cause vegetables can be pretty bland, but the chef seasoned my veg to perfection! My husband had the steak tacos and said they were better than the ones at his favorite Mexican place. Although from the outside this place does not look like it has much to offer, try it and you will be impressed!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
