Great place for breakfast and lunch- friendly staff and reasonable prices. I've been coming here for a few years, I don't know why I've never given them props on Yelp before.... going to change that now: Both locations (the one in downtown Mokena and the one on 191st St) are clean, bright, and warm. I always have been seated quickly with fast and efficient service. I have never ordered coffee, but the juices are all pretty good. Food items- no matter if I'm here for breakfast or lunch, I always try to get a cup of their soup. I love all the soups here- cream of broccoli is the best one for sure. Egg dishes are all great, the pancakes and waffles are great, and the bacon and sausage have never let me down. Definitely will continue coming here to eat- good food, prices, and service.

Visited the Eggcetera cafe after purchasing a groupon. The place is quaint and clean. We went on a Friday morning and were seated immediately. The server was friendly and fast. I ordered the cinnamon swirl french toast, a half order of biscuits and gravy, and my husband ordered a skillet. The french toast was delicious, but a bit overpriced for the three little slices that I received. The biscuits and gravy were homemade and delicious. My husband didn't have any complaints about his skillet (but really how can you mess that up?). Not sure we would go here again as we don't go out to breakfast that often but this was decent food with good service.

I am writing this about the restaurant on 191st, I didn't see that one in my search. Anyway, we stopped in here after an exasperating experience at The Egg and I... in which we ended up walking out. Here, we were quickly seated and almost immediately given huge glasses of water, our orders were taken and the food arrived probably less that 10 minutes after our arrival. The food and service were excellent! The waitress was attentive and friendly. I'll definitely be returning here.

Don't confuse this with the 191st Street location. This one is, from the outside, is a cute diner located next to the tracks in old downtown Mokena. The "cute" stops as soon as you walk in. Cramped, loud, and could use a lot more cleanliness. I watched as one of the waitresses ( who doubles as bus) wiped the meal remnants, from a table full of children, onto the floor. Five minutes to get coffee. No flatware or napkins until we asked for them. Food was tasteless. Hash browns aren't; they're just warmed up potato chunks. Breakfast ham is diced lunch meat. Not a place that I would return to. Eggcetera Café in downtown Mokena needs a lot of work.

There are two locations of this restaurant in Mokena. The restaurant seemed to be a favorite among locals, so I was excited to try this place out! I had the Traditional Eggs Benedict, which came with two poached eggs, Canadian bacon, English muffin, and with hollandaise sauce. My husband had the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs with a side of Biscuits & Sausage Gravy (the half order, as we had an order of 2 entrees). My dish was solid, and a very simple dish. My husband thought his dish was okay, but was not a fan of the sausage gravy as he wasn't a fan of the flavors. The service was nice and the place was very cheery. I really like the chicken paintings on the wall. I'm glad I was able to check this place out! +Traditional Eggs Benedict +chicken art

Had breakfast here and it is so cozy. I visit both eggcetera locations as often as I can. I love sitting on the porch in the spring and summer. Jen is my favorite server ever!!

So today I decided to try somewhere new for breakfast. I regularly take the Mokena train into work and have regularly seen Eggcetera so I figured I would give it a try. Upon walking in, I noticed the tables were all occupied with the exception of one six person table. After speaking with the hostess, she stated it would be a ten minute wait. Rather than argue, I gave the hostess the benefit of the doubt. After waiting 12 minutes, another father walks in with his two children. Upon arrival, they are immediately seated at the six person table. Being that I was a party of two, I was frustrated to say the least that I had waited and still given the back burner to another family. Does my money spend any differently? What frustrated me even more, was that when I brought up that I took exception to their actions, I received a blank and dumbfounded stare. It is absurd that a place that appears so welcoming and endearing would blatantly disregard another patient family to accommodate someone else. I am also of Middle Eastern descent, but I would hope that would not have played a factor in the blatant and ignorant disregard to customer service.

The building is very cozy, charming, and the floors take you back to an older time. Love it. The trains come by but won't bother your meal or conversation as it slows down enough to pick up passengers. Food was pretty good. Coffee was great and the waitress came by frequently to check on us. Parking was easy to find. We came on a Saturday morning and didn't have to wait at all.

I was only at this location once, by accident...but it was worth the Mokena tour. I ordered online, for the Mozzarella and Parmesan Grilled Cheese on Focaccia... OH MAN! This was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches of my life. I was in love. The sandwich was huge. The flavors were a magical blend of Italian joy. For no charge, you can sub out the fries and get soup, which was also awesome. I went to pick up my order, and the server was pleasant and welcoming. She made sure to invite me back to return, on purpose, though she apologized for my mistake in ordering online for the wrong location. Apparently this happens somewhat regularly. (Just make sure to click the right address, people. Learn from my mistake!) The interior of the restaurant, itself was really cute and homey. I would definitely return if I were in the Mokena area again.

Service great. In and out fast for a breakfast place. Only problem was the food I ordered was the traditional eggs benny. Not impressed. Bland, thick sauce barbarians dry and the grapefruit juice was bitter. Not worth $12 meal for breakfast.

Terrible food, terrible coffee. I order a skillet and the potatoes were uncooked, in the bottom of the plate, the food was watery, look like the potatoes were boiled, so disgusting, when you expect crispy nice cook potatoes. The regular coffee was so clear, don't even taste like coffee and it gave me a terrible acidity. Second time there. Second bad experience. I will never come back.

Our family has been here a couple of time and we like the place. During my most recent visit, I had the egg white omelette with plenty of vegetables and a side of ham. Very solid breakfast. Wife had salad and the kids had pancakes. Everyone liked the food. I do like the coffee here. The service is fast and friendly and the prices seem reasonable. We will go back.

Nice little place in town. Food is good and you get plenty of it. I always come away stuffed and the price will not break your wallet. The seating is a little lacking but you have to work with what you have.

This is a hard place to give a review on, for me anyway, I went for breakfast today, upon entering I was told I had to wait to be seated, the place was almost empty so I waited and got to sit where I wanted to anyway. The service was OK they stop by every two minutes to ask if everything is alright, No it's not, I have a mouthful of food and I have to stop eating to answer your dumb questions, once in a while is OK but not every couple of minutes.then they have a low counter where all the help stands and watches you I find it uncomfortable to look up and see five people watching me eat. I had a farmers skillet, it was a lot different than any skillet I have ever had, it was OK but not good, three eggs on top of piles of ham, cheese, onions, and potatoes, all separate from each other. It's a nice new building so it's clean inside, just not that great of food and rather expensive $10.00 for a skillet.

The cutest little country breakfast spot you could want. It's right off the train stop, and you can see the train pull up through its beautiful windows. It's such a sunny little spot, and the food has flavor. The "California Benny" Breakfast meal is delicious! the waitresses are so friendly they make you feel so welcomed

My wife and I have been stopping at EggCetera Cafe in Mokena for quite sometime now. It's an adorable little mom and pop place right in downtown Mokena by the Metra train station. Recently the owner's son has opened a second location at 10120 W. 191st street, also in Mokena. Well on our recent trip we ordered some daily specials, the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich (which included onions and peppers) and steak cut fries. A Granny Smith Apple, Strawberry, Walnut, Grilled Chicken and Cheese on a bed of lettuce with Poppy Seed Dressing salad (man was this an outstanding salad). A bowl of Beef Barley soup (excellent!) and a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup. Along with two ice teas. The total bill came to roughly $25 dollars. So with extremely friendly service and reasonable prices, Maria and I highly recommend EggCetera Cafe to everyone. It is definitely worth the stop.

Dropped in on Wednesday at the new location on 191st, and the service was good and the food came out hot and fast. The pancakes were a bit thicker than I like, but my son loves them that way. I had one of their omelets, which was just like the Omelet they serve in the original location. The original location has more character, but it is not as well located for most. For myself, I will go back to the one near the station.

Delicious!!! Came on a Sunday after 12pm and it wasn't overly crowded. Nice laid back atmosphere. We were seated immediately and offered coffee right away. Decent coffee and someone came around regularly to warm up our cups. Husband ordered the Rio Grande omelette and said it was incredibly good. I ordered the gingerbread pancake breakfast, which included eggs, hash browns and sausage or bacon. I ordered it with sausage. The entire plate was amazing! We were definitely impressed and happily full when we left (I took the pancakes home because I was so full and I can't wait to eat them, just from the small taste I had when they were on my plate). Would definitely recommend!

Located in downtown Mokena next to Metra station this little place has some good grub. My dad (a regular) brought me to both locations and I enjoyed the food. The Mokena location is small and the chairs for ME (bad back) were not too comfy BUT the service is great and the food is good. They post daily specials which are worth ordering. Good place for kids if you have any because they can watch the trains pass by. The 191st location (which is closer to where I grew up) is pretty new and is really nice inside. Same there as far as great service. The owner goes back and fourth from the locations which is great because it shows how involved he is and how much he cares that his locations are taken care of. I have always enjoyed food from these kind of places over the usual chain places. Keep up the great work! Cheers! :)

Love this quaint little restaurant. Came here the other morning for the first time. Everyone was very friendly (including the customers that were waving at my one year old daughter) Ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, and hash browns. Pancakes were delicious. Slightly sweet and perfectly cooked. I would definitely come back.-especially on a Saturday, since the farmers market is going on.

Great place for breakfast or lunch. I have been coming here for years and never been less than very happy w all dishes and the attentive service. Homemade soups, great sandwiches and a delish Cobb Salad. The building was a train depot and retains the old charm while being bright and spotless. I had the Pumpkin Pancake breakfast special today with eggs, hash browns, sausage and fluffy Pumpkins pancakes. Yummy!

First, this place has a terrific location...really great location. It's quaint and the kids love to watch the train go by. But other than that it's just ok. It's too expensive (like most breakfast places) and it doesn't offer anything worth those prices. The food is just ok and I always leave thinking...I could have made that better for way cheaper than $30!!! The bacon is soggy (what is it about restaurant bacon? Why can't they ever get it crispy? do they boil it? what do they do with it?) The kids love the pancakes, but my eggs are always average. But it is a great location. I just wish they'd improve the food. I've been to very few breakfast places that have great food. This isn't one of them. But it's a Mokena landmark. And I'm sure I'll be back, for the kids, wondering why I continue to do this to myself.

Went there for the first time; Sunday at around 11:30 am. Place was crowded, and very busy. The first thing we noted was the host, and older man who literally said nothing. Odd, but ok. We were seated and immediately felt as if we were in a high school cafeteria. My god the NOISE volume in there was off the chart. We could not even hear each other across the small two person table we were at. Our waitress arrived - wearing sweatpants - and took the order without incident. As we were waiting we noted that the flooring appears to be hollow underneath as evident by anyone walking near or around our table sent vibrations up our chairs. Very disconcerting. Food arrived, nothing really to say here. Eggs and pancakes nothing special. We were very surprised at the higher ratings this place got. If there was a 1.5 star I would have done that solely because the waitress got the order right. Sorry Mokena, we won't be back here.

The breakfast here is delicious! Both locations and are equally good. The downtown Mokena location is a fun treat for little ones because it's right at the Metra stop and the kids love to watch the trains. They offer specials everyday and the seasonal pancakes, especially the pumpkin ones served with cinnamon butter are the best. My other favorite is eggs benedict, which is absolutely delicious. My daughter loves it here because they offer gluten free bread.

Brrrrrrr, it's cold in there! On a hot July morning, I really didn't anticipate needing a sweater but maybe I should have brought one. I was running a few minutes early to meet someone. While waiting, I saw two people venture out to their cars in search of another piece of clothing to wear inside. This, on a 90+ degree day. Eek. Other than the freezing AC, I have one other minor complaint. I really have a hard time when the staff comes over eight thousand times to refill my coffee. My cup of joe is a perfectly calibrated combination of coffee, sugar and creamer. Topping it off is complete chaos to my formula and I do not like it. And I don't like having to repeat that six times before my food comes. So now onto the food. I ordered the banana pancakes and they were, I must admit, great. There was roughly a half of a banana cut on top. The pancakes themselves then had slices of banana cooked into them along with some nuts. Overall, it was pretty good and I didn't feel I needed a lot of syrup, which to me is always a good sign.

This place is one of the best breakfast places in the far south suburbs... and we have our fair share of pancake joints. First of all, this place is great for kids - we went to the new 191st Street location, and with their poured concrete floors you would think the noise would be a problem, but not so (other people have mentioned that it was an issue - we were there at 9am on a Saturday morning and the place was packed and we didn't have any noise problems). And taking a toddler there was no problem because there were many families there, and the floor means its easy to clean up after the unavoidable mess of a toddler. The pumpkin pancakes are out of this world. I know they are seasonal, so get them while you can. They were fluffy and flavorful, and the compound butter that came with it was perfect, no need for syrup to drown the pancakes. My husband had the french potato omelet and was completely wowed. We tried to recreate it at home, but it didn't even come close. They did a wonderful job of balancing flavor and texture in both of the dishes we had. We've already taken out-of-towners to this restaurant and plan to keep doing so.

Came here on a Sunday morning and the place was half full. 5 minutes later it was mobbed. We choose a table in the front with a view. That was a mistake. They have a heated entrance with seats to wait for your table. Nope. These jackasses needed to be in the restaurant standing next to your table. What's that all about? Not one person was in the entrance with all the chairs. Did I mention that it was heated. The food came right away but the eggs were not very warm. The toast was cold. My skillet was good, but they put the onions in a one pile, the ham in another and the potatos on the side. The three eggs were covering everything. So when I bit into the onions they were a little raw it took me by suprise. They didn't have time to mix the ingredients up. Or does the cook have a problem with food touching? When we went to pay the $25 bill for two people. This lady with a bag the size of Tokyo was standing in front of the register and wouldn't get the hell out of my way. I said excuse me twice. WTF is wrong with people? The food would have been four stars if it was warm. Another star off because the owner at the front door didn't have the nuts to tell the crowd to wait in the appropriate area. It was very uncomfortable eating with people staring at you. .

Very good food. Good service and prices. Try to avoid Saturday & Sundays from 9-11. Too many people with little kids and they tune out the screaming and screeching. A few times I have left frustrated that it was so loud you could not speak.

A nice breakfast/lunch place in downtown Mokena next to Metra station. The place is not to big. I love a good omelet and was not disappointed with the meat lovers. You have a good variety to choose from and the food is fresh. The service is always friendly and inviting.

When my boyfriend and I first moved to Mokena, we were in search of a nice breakfast diner. Eggcetera was what we were looking for. They have top quality food and very nice service. Also, I think it is a nice touch that the restaurant is very clean and always has fresh flowers on the table rather than fake plastic ones! My boyfriend usually gets the meat lovers omelette and biscuits and gravy. I have tried both and they are very good. I normally get the thick sliced french toast. However, I decided to branch out and try the banana bread french toast. This was the best decision in the world. I am looking forward to my next trip there, just so I can have it again! I would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

Cute, quaint, breakfast/lunch place in downtown Mokena, right next to the Metra station. This place gets packed on Sunday mornings/early afternoons, and for good reason. The food is fresh and delicious. They could probably stand to have a little more help during the busier times, but who is in a rush on Sunday morning? Despite that, the staff is still very friendly and pleasant. I normally don't like most breakfast food and usually hate eggs, but I love their omelets/skillets/etc.
