I have been going to Otts Tavern for years now, but the most recent time I went with my family, both my wife and myself got sick from their fish. If you want to buy Captain D's quality fish soaked in grease for far too long, then I would go there. Otherwise, stay away. Plus, the place was always a shithole but now the bar is so dilapidated that the wallpaper is peeling up. If you want high quality fried fish in the St. Louis Metro area, this is no longer the place to go.

The fish is sub par at best and over priced compared to other fish stands in the area. The owner went out of her way to be rude to us, which I guess is not surprising since she has a reputation for being nasty. Do not bother giving this place your business.

Best fish I have ever had. I drive 150miles at times for the fish there. It's nothing fancy but AAA food. Takes a while in the summer months but go inside have a cold beer and wait for heaven on a plate!!!

I gave them a 1 star bc i had to pick something.. My family has been coming to the fish stand @ otts tavern for literally my entire life and my mother and her entire family before that. Unfortunately the new manager who apparently runs the stand, sort of doesn't understand that you really shouldn't be rude to your customers, just because they're there to eat. From the time we sat down with 8 people we were greeted with a frown and attitude bc we didn't come in knowing exactly what all we were ordering. Then the experience got actually worse as the the dinner went on, the only upside was the yummy fish, the bartender inside otts was great and very personable and didn't seem to be too bothered to help is since she was at work anyways, but with all that after we were done eating and asked if something was wrong, the rude I'm busy response she gave my sister was laughable, bc I've seen that fish stand busy (easy2-3 hr wait) granite it was probably years before she ran or actually had to work in the fish stand herself. Needless to say my sister who was highly upset with that response stated we would no longer visit this establishment and was greeted with a smile and a wave of tongs in her face....appalling from someone who expect customers to come back since that's how you make money, but that's OK I'll definitely be putting this on blast for a long time and posting everywhere how even though the fish us decent, it's definitely not worth the awkwardly rude experience if the owner has to work the day you come in......sad excuse of a lady there boy!

After an afternoon of apple picking, we stopped off for a fish sandwich and a drink. What a great find! The sandwich was great, the bread was great, the coleslaw was even good! We decided to sit at the bar and eat, have a drink and chat with the bartender....who by the way was so much fun to chat with!

I was very surprised at how the fish is not very good at all. Very dry and not anything special. I had high hopes, cuz family members rave about this place a lot. Prices are also pretty high too for what you get. I don't know, probably won't go back. If people aren't aware, fried fish is the only thing on the menu and served with 2 pieces of basic white bread. I could pay the same for very good fish somewhere else.
