Absolutely love this place! Fast delivery and food is amazing! The place is dated but the staff, service and food makes up for it.

Really great chinese food. Tastes and looks fresh. Long, selective menu of chinese, sushi and a little thai. Friendly staff and clean restaurant. Definitely recommend.

I love this place my husband and I ho here at least once a week. They have the best bbq boneless spare ribs in the south Chicagoland area hands down!! Cant wait to go back next week.

5 stars because I am absolutely in love with the food. Sure, it's not high end, the place looks extremely dated, but there's something about the sauce they put on that chicken broccoli that is to die for. Best hole-in-the-wall chinese place I've ever been to. I used to live in Alsip and this was my favorite go-to place. I moved out to California for college but any time I come back to visit, it is ALWAYS guaranteed I will get food at least once from here. I know I am extremely americanized since I always only order the chicken broccoli but I've never came across any other better chicken broccoli plate, even in California with the huge asian population. I pretty much have their number now saved in my phone ready for when I'm in town. I'll be relocating soon for work back to Chicago and cannot wait to have this so close by again. I'm hungry just writing this review.

I've been going here since they opened. I have a hard time getting Chinese from anywhere else because I always find myself comparing them to En lai. It's cheap and delicious. I highly recommend if you are looking for a quick Chinese fix.

One of the best Chinese take outs I've had in the area! Yummy! I personally loved their sweet and sour chicken, crab Rangoon and egg rolls. Their portion sizes are big and the prices are small. Our family of 4 ate for 25 bucks and had some left overs for lunch the next day. Make sure to look for coupons when you go. They have them online and in the value flyer packs that come in the mail.

Quick and convenient Chinese food. The place is out dated like most Chinese restaurants but the food is pretty good for the price. The lunch special is enough food to fill you up. Some places load you up with rice but I would say this is a good ratio of rice to meat.

I wish that I could give ZERO stars, there are not a lot of times that I right a review but I had to after trying this HORRIBLE food! I should have followed my first mind and not even gave this place a try. But noooo after going to 3 other Chinese restaurants that were ALL closed, I decided to give them a try. What a TERRIBLE mistake! I have read mixed reviews on this place but went along and threw away over $20 nobody in my house liked their food!!! My son who usually will eat most food couldn't even finish his order of orange chicken. I had the chicken and beef with garlic sauce and it was very bland and let's not even discuss the Mongolian beef my guy ordered I am unable to eat ANY spicy food and I tasted his and switched my meal with his, the beef didn't have a lick of spiciness to it. The dish was actually sweeter than my sons orange chicken!! I'm SO upset and disgusted that we will NEVER go there again not even for a FREE meal because its not worth the gasoline to drive there. I wish I had waited until 2pm and went across the street to King Chop Suey next to Kenootz

OK, I was headed to Gum Wah in Midlo for Chicken, Pepper, Tomato because this is da place for it. The area is currently without power in spots because of storms, and wouldn't you know it, Gum Wah is closed. So, I spot this place En Lai on my way to the Hong Kong house in Palos, and they sold me a half order and some crispy noodles. I got Pepper, Tomato remnants, Onion galore and 4 bite size chicken pieces. (do you see where this is going?) The only thing I can figure is that they put the chicken in the container last, and there simply wasn't room for all the chicken they were supposed to give me to EAT........ TWENTY FIVE large pieces of onion, and NO CHICKEN. Anyhow, those 4 bite size chicken pieces were pretty tasty. Bon Appetite.

Even though I have lived in the area for 4 years now (actually 3 blocks away from this place) I had not tried En Lai's food. Went today. Food is fresh cooked on the spot. Portions ARE generous and the rolls are pretty good. Prices are just about right. I will be coming back to try out other things on their menu.

A nice small Chinese kitchen with quick service and good Chinese food. There is a little sit down area and the food is as good quality you will find in China or at least in Chinatown. The pork dumpling and chicken broccoli were pretty good and better than I have had in some of these similar places.

Their food is awesome, great portions, not greasy at all. All of the appetizers we have had are really good. House fried rice is really tasty. Fair prices

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to grab a favorite, Szechuan green beans. It's basically a take-out joint (a few tables in the front), which didn't look all that clean to me, but what the hell. So I ordered the green beans and chicken fried rice. I was surprised when she said it would be $5.98, because I thought I was ordering full-sized portions. She hadn't asked but I figured at this point it might be better to go with whatever downsized portion I would be given. I wasn't aware until I sat down to wait and read the printed take-out menu that I was apparently being given a luncheon special. Just as well. While the beans were actually quite good, the disappointing fried rice brought the whole thing down. Apparently they make a bunch of rice and fry it with soy sauce. Then when someone orders "chicken" (or beef or whatever), they throw in a very few measly pieces of that substance. That's it. No vegetables, no egg, nothing else besides the rice and about 5 or 6 very small chunks of chicken. There are better options for Chinese take-out in the area, such as #1 Chop Suey in Oak Forest, or Hunan Palace in Palos, so I won't be back to En Lai

i absolutely LOVE en lai! i grew up in blue island, moved to oak forest, and when i got married, moved to milwaukee. milwaukee has only one chinese restaurant my husband and i will go to...we are picky when it comes to chinese food. when we come back to visit family, we ALWAYS go here. the portions are huge...even for lunch it's enough for 2 meals! we ate there once and it was pretty standard for sit down chinese restaurants. never had delivery, so i can't comment on that...but i still highly recommend this place to anyone in the area, or someone visiting looking for good food at an incredibly reasonable price!

I have to admit I've only had the carryouts from here. I've seen a review of this placing saying it has the best Chinese food on the south side. I wouldn't go that far but the food is good and reasonably priced. Portions are generous. Extensive menu - they can cook you up whatever your heart desires. The typical breaded meat dishes with sauce (eg General Tso, Orange Chicken) are tasty while the vegetables in other dishes are always fresh. They have dirt cheap lunch specials and something called a "Diet Menu" for those watching their calories. Solid Asian fare at cheap prices.

This place was ok. We order delivery and the food came fast and was still hot and the driver was very nice. We didn't have a menu to order from, so I just asked for the lunch combos. I'm not sure if it was because I asked for lunch combos, but it didn't appear to be a lot of food. I'm accustomed to having leftover chinese food and this was a rare occasion when I could finish everything. I was pretty full when I finished so I can't complain too much. My boyfriend had a stomach ache, but we don't know it was from the food since I did not get sick at all. Most likely it wasn't the food. Overall, pretty good, I would order from here again and now it will be easier since I got a menu.

If I could change my first borns name to En Lai I would. This place is by far the best Chinese ever! Crab Rangoon is beyond amazing and the chicken sticks are full of flavor!

I'm a traveler to this area, and Chinese food is one of my favorites. Here in Alsip, Il, Its hard to find good Chinese food. En Lai does a good job of breaking this mold. The food is fresh, plenty of options, and delivery is fast. I recommend En Lai to my fellow travelers because there's no better place I know of when you need a quick fix of good Chinese grub. Wings is a good second choice, but they are not as good as En Lai. In my humble opinion.

I am new to the neighborhood and was looking for a good Chinese food restaurant. After looking on Yelp I decided to try this one. The food was fresh but it wasn't the greatest. It was hot that's for sure. It was so hot it melted the lid that was on the food. Apparently this caused the lid to crack and small pieces of plastic were in my food. Which I did not see prior to eating, so I found out the hard way. It wasn't bad food but I will try a few more places before I go back to this one.

It's more like 2.5 stars for this establishment only because my family orders from them a lot, and enjoys the food immensely. The portions are very generous and the service is very fast and efficient especially when you order take-out for delivery. I just think they give my fam better service (because the recognize the address) and when I'm flying solo and walked in they didn't realize who I was (yes I'm being that self-centered person). The last time I personally ordered from them the food wasn't very good *at all* and I'm convinced my beau and I were sick from what we ate. Maybe we just didn't order the right thing but I felt like what we had was greasier than normal. UGH! I just felt sick! I know I'll eat from them again at my mom's house some day, but not on my own. No thanks.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
