My daughter in law had a baby shower at Marzano's and I have to tell you the staff was excellent and attentive, the chicken marsala, fish, and zito were great. The salad plates were cold and just how we like it. All the plates were clean because the food was so good. The chocolate moulten cake and ice cream really topped the meal off. I would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could! I called ahead of time to see if when we arrived we could get assistance with some gifts, and when we arrived, again the staff was right there to help bring the large baby gifts into the restaurant. I would definitely have a function or just dinner here. I am from Skokie, Illinois Kathy Scherrer-C

Excellent pizza. I had the Prosciutto and Arugula Neapolitana, but they all sounded fantastic. Robust beer, wine, spirits menu to accomodate almost all tastes. Comfortable but elegant ambience. Friendly staff.

We had the margarita pizza as an appetizer which was very tasty! The crust was not as crispy as what you'd expect from a wood-fire grill. I had the scallops and mushroom risotto which was delicious! Scallops were huge and cooked perfectly along with the risotto. My boyfriend got the stuffed shells, had spinach, goat cheese, tomato sauce and more. He still craves them since we went a few weeks ago. My key lime pie martini was perfect and on special for only $4! The meal prices were a little higher than what we like to pay, especially considering the portion, but with the free pizza appetizer and the fantastic quality, we were definitely.impressed and hope to go back soon!

Been here about 6 times so I figured it was time to write a review. I love the atmosphere, it reads high end Italian restaurant, but the prices read "affordable." The pizza is the star, but you need to remember its supposed to be soggy in the middle...its the style - so when I see people posting on here that the pizza was soggy (like a bad thing) it drives me nuts! The stuffed shells are good BUT make sure you are a fan of goat cheese because its very prevalent. The Salmon is decadent but I always ask for the sauce on the side because it really doesn't need it. The bread - addicting - try to stay away!! I'm trying to get the courage to try to scallops with mushroom risotto because I've seen it and it looks amazing but I'm not too hot on mushrooms....one day when my boss is paying maybe.... Overall - very happy with the service and food.

Andrew the server was awesome! Very attentive and personable. Pizza was very good. Crust was crisp, not hard. The Banana Tiramisu was out of this world. We will definitely be back.

Thrilled to have found this authentic gem! We ordered salads to start, pasta with sausage, a pizza and desert and the total was less than 35 dollars!! They make their own cheese, the pizza is like no other. Massive space, this place is ideal for parties and receptions. The decor and build are 5 plus stars. We had a very sweet and well versed server this evening. I have absolutely nothing negative to say :). Clean, fresh, great service, authentic.

Excellent food. Had the margherita pizza and Diavlo farrfale pasta. We also got the red velvet cheesecake and banana tiramisu. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves quality Italian food!

Terrible! It's Tuesday evening and it's not even busy, and the 2 of us sat there for almost 10 minutes without any service and walked out! Other families were seated after us and we're waited on! Won't be returning.

I liked this place. Not an overly huge menu of selections but they have your basic sauce and cheese covered pastas etc. I had the caprese salad starter which was OK. The tomatoes were too small and the mozzarella cheese a little tough. But then I had the spaghetti bolognese which had a rich meaty sauce that might have had a dash of cream in it to thicken it up. It went very good with the fresh hot bread and olive oil for dipping that you get on the table. Prices were I thought reasonable with nothing really over $20 other than a few steaks. I'd go here again.

Found out they opened for lunch and we headed over there to check it out. Was pleasantly surprised by the lunch menu and the server was outstanding. She asked us if we were on a time limit and went from there. She kept our drinks full and gave us plenty of suggestions for lunch. I had the tortilla soup and the caprese sandwich which was fantastic. Overall a nice surprise for lunch and I can't wait to go back. I wish I could remember our servers name, she was fantastic. Probably the best service I had at a restaurant in a long time.

We went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner this past weekend. They had 2 salads, bread, and a variety of pizza. We had a whole room to ourselves, and we had several servers who kept our beer, wine, and/or sodas filled. They really did a great job! The bread was outstanding, and I probably ate an entire stick of butter. The salads were also very good, and they came with a variety of dressing. Lastly, we really enjoyed the pizza. There was so many to choose from so I was lucky to have tried more than I can remember. The one that stands out the most was the BLT pizza which had prosciutto and arugula. Those flavors together are out of this world! The wood-fired crust had a great char to it that you could really taste. My only complaint is that the pizza were served on a tray that did not really breathe, so the crusts seemed to get soggy pretty quick. It also made for some not-so-good leftovers, which as anyone that knows me will tell you, is one of my favorite snacks. Its only a small criticisms, and it probably doesn't make a difference for the average diner since I am sure the pizza goes quick, but we were there for awhile and noticed it. All-in-all, it was a great meal from start to finish, and the service was outstanding. I would definitely go back!

Decided to pay this place a visit with the family in April. I had made reservations for dinner, which was wierd since the person answering the phone never asked me a time. We arrived and were pleasantly greeted by the hostess and spotted the pizza oven right away. Servers were very attentive even with a couple large groups dining at the same time as well. We had the Margherita pizza app, which was great. Nice crispy crust and very flavorful. The entrees were very good as well and grandma even liked the place. We will have to visit agan soon.

I was very excited to dine here. We had 12 people and their Vino room was open. The Vino room is a semi private room with a large table for 12, Perfect! We were celebrating a birthday and it took a little to find a place to accommodate us. Based on the Yelp reviews and pictures, we booked the reservations. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our experience. I expected more of the food to be cooked in the wood burning 1000 ° brick oven. It's the focal point right as you walk in (stunning). But all that a side....our server (not even sure his name) was very quiet and his timing was off. I'm not going to get into the nitty gritty of all the little things that added up to be about 15 things that were just off...he probably was lucky to have the gratuity added right to the check for our large party. The food: was overpriced for what we got. 5 people had the fish fry and everyone commented on how greasy it was. The "American" pizza (cooked in a regular oven) tasted like a normal pizza. (yea, you say....well with "wood fired" in the name, the logo and right when you walk in, I was surprised at how little the brick oven is used) The brick oven pizza had that char, but much smaller and not worth the "dough." (hehe) They really should cook more stuff in that beautiful brick oven. The butternut squash ravioli was good but considering there wasn't any protein in the dish, I felt overpriced. Our bill was well over $300 and I felt I could have cooked a nicer meal at home for that.

I ate here with my husband and brother-in-law while we were in town visiting family. I'm so sad I don't live in the area, or I'd be eating here all the time. We started with calamari, which was unbelievably tender and delicious. I also got a caprese salad, which was the highlight of my mea. The fresh-made mozzarella was some of the best i've had in the U.S. My husband got a pasta dish with clams, which was simple and fresh, with a hint of smokiness. My brother-in-law and I each got Neopolitan style pizzas, with more of that delicious fresh mozzarella. I can't speak to their American-style pizza, as we didn't order any, but I can't stop thinking about the Neopolitan. So good!

We went to Marzano's recently with another couple and we all really enjoyed it. Definitely a place we'll be back to time and time again. Went on a Saturday night and it was very busy but we did have reservations and were seated immediately. Very warm and inviting environment. Our waiter was outstanding, service was great among everyone we came into contact with at the restaurant. Bread was pretty good, and they kept it coming. We tried a Margherita pizza for an appetizer and it was very tasty. In fact, I'd come back just for the pizza. Also had a salad which was very good. I ordered a filet and it was "okay". I would select a different entree next time. My friends ordered pasta dishes and they all loved them. Mashed Potatoes were really good too. All in all, everyone left very happy with or belly's full and we are already making plans to meet there again for a future dinner date. It's very nice to have a place like this in the area.

For this kind of pizza, I had to drive one hour to SpaccaNapoli, but now it is right here within 10 minutes. . I don't know anything about the rest of the restaurant, pizza is all I have here and it is very good.

Stopped by after a conference at lunch time. Great service. Free pizza - thanks Yelp ad! The group had as an appetizer and it was delicious! Orders included bacon cheeseburger with fries - well cooked, nice bun, crispy fries. Chop salads were fresh and delish! Spinach salad was huge and full of great veggies. Overall a wonderful experience.

My fiancée and I went there for our first time and were quite impressed. We had reservations for 6:45pm on a Saturday and arrived about 20 minutes early, expecting to wait. Instead, we were seated right away and even got to sit next to the fireplace which was nice and toasty on a colder February night. I ordered the create your own pasta with fettuccine noodles, marinara sauce and broccoli. When the bus boy arrived with my food, I noticed right away that the sauce was a cream sauce and clearly not marinara and mentioned it to my fiancée. I didn't make a fuss of it and didn't even mention it to my waitress because I also like alfredo sauce and it tasted fantastic. Later on the waitress came to our table and explained that the bus boy told her of the mistake on my order, apologized for the error and told me that she already took it off of my bill. I had told her that it was no problem, it was a simple mistake and the food was great, and we had a Groupon to use anyways so to not worry about taking it off our bill. She insisted, however, to take it off the bill and apologized again for the error. I was quite impressed with the way she handled it because I never once told her about the error - the bus boy told her about it and she could have simply just waited to see if I said anything to her. But no, instead she was proactive and admitted her mistake and took action to correct the mistake. In addition, I filled out the comment card to let them know how great our experience was and dropped it off at the front desk. Within minutes, the manager came over and gave us a $10 gift certificate as well! I'm very impressed and we will certainly be back again. The food was exceptional and the service was amazing!

Possibly the best in the northwest! The calamari was the freshest I've had in the NW burbs. The wood-fired style pizza was excellent and so was my wife's Eggplant Parmesan (only available on Mondays). Even the house wine was easy drinking and balanced though light and watery - pretty good, considering it was only $3. I definitely say it is worth going a little out of your way from Crystal Lake or Algonquin - avoid the chain restaurants and try this understated, though nicely appointed gem.

Went to Marzanos for dinner. This place used to be a good steakhouse and it looks really nice outside and in now. I ordered Chicken Parmesan and my wife ordered Chicken Marsala. The service was nice and friendly. The restaurant was not very busy (not good news for 7pm on a Friday night). I felt everything was moderately priced. My Parmesan was decent, not great. Te sauce was a little bland but it was HUGE. My wife was not a big fan if the Marsala, she said it tasted a little powdery. If I went here again I would try something else. If that has the same feel as tonight did I probably will not return.

My boyfriend and I ate here last night....it was amazing!! We ordered mozzarella marinara and drinks to start, and for dinner I ordered the Farfalle al' Diavolo (HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!! I will be hard pressed to order other things after this....except the pizza) and my boyfriend ordered the Beef Bolognese Ravioli, which was also amazing. The service was great - our waitress was super friendly and prompt. If you order a salad with your meal, get their house Italian....it's so good. I highly recommend this place to everyone.....it's worth a trip for the meal if you don't live close by. They're also open for lunch now, so I'll definitely be checking out their new lunch menu ASAP. p.s. if you're staying for dessert, try the red velvet cheesecake!!

Enjoyed the bar area, fast, good drinks very similar to when the restaurant was Dunhills. However there seemed to be a disconnect when we moved into the dining area. The menu items that I consumed were the following: 1. Marinara & Salsiccia Pizza 2. Seared Sea Scallops with Mushroom Risotto 3. Gnocchi with Vodka Sauce The pizza, for which the restaurant has declared as their specialty, was disappointing, lacking the intense flavors that I expected and the true crunch throughout the entire crust (edges were great, but got soggy towards the middle). The seared scallops and mushroom risotto was the item I enjoyed the most. The scallops were cooked perfectly, great flavor and the risotto was also cook very well. A very enjoyable dish that I would order again. The gnocchi and vodka sauce was OK. Not spectacular, not terrible. Probably would not order it again. The sauce did not seem fresh made, similar taste to many vodka sauces I have bought at the store. A couple of other things: - Out of coffee: I don't think I have been to a restaurant on a Saturday night where the location did not have coffee to serve, especially an Italian restaurant (coffee or cappuccino) - Service: The service at our table was fairly slow, now to our servers defense there was 8 people in our party, but a few times we felt forgotten about. Overall the atmosphere was decent, our group had a decent time, but I could not say that there was anything special that would immediately draw me back to dine here. I will probably wait a few months before returning to see if the management has worked out any of the "just opened bugs".

what a great place to go with a group of friends , The atmosphere is great, We sat in the Bar area instead of the dinning area. We tried the BLT pizza or an appetizer and it was delicious, I had the Bolognese spaghetti with meatballs it was very good , my wife had the clams in linguine and a red spicy sauce , she said it was good, the others in the party had fish , and both of heir dishes was very good . the manager came over and offered to buy us our deserts which was really a nice thing to do , he was a a friendly guy Let me tell you , these deserts where freaking awesome , we split a Terramasu which i didn't eat because I'm not a lover of that. But I split a Red velvet cake that was out of this world, I have to put out a good word to our waitress "Audrey" she was wonderful , knowledgeable and very sweet all in all I recommend trying this place out .Im giving it five stars because of Audrey her service brought over the top.

I want to start with a disclaimer, their "pizza" is not a New York or Chicago style pizza. Their "Pizza" is more of an "old world pizza" so if you go in there with a taste for a good thin crust you may be disappointed, but if you go with no preconceptions of what "Pizza" is then you will get a wonderful treat. I have been there three times now and I just want to say the staff is good but lacks experience. I have only eaten the pizza thus far.

Food was favorable and fresh. I would recommend trying the ahi tuna steak medium-rare even if you aren't a fish fan. The atmosphere and service was good. They do tend to use more salt in their products then I'd like. That's one bad thing. Otherwise, good.

If you have never enjoyed a wood fired neopolotan pizza pie then get yourself in here fast. My wife and I love the pizza here and you MUST eat it onsite, in my opinion, since it does the pie no good to travel. We typically eat in the bar area but the whole place looks great. Check it out!

When I think about what a dining experience at an Italian restaurant should all encompass, my pondering will take me to Marzano's and doesn't need to go any further. My girlfriend, five month old daughter, and I met some very dear friends at Marzano's. Immediately after entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a large wood oven called a Pizzaiolo. The warmth and slight smokiness it permeated was a foreshadowing to the coziness that our visit would turn out to be. The hostess made us feel like family, but without the corporate insincerity you get from a teenage greeter at, say, an Olive Garden. The décor at Marzano's is that of lush, warm wooden pillars, tables and chairs. There's no cliché mafia or Sinatra posters hanging from the walls as far as I could tell, which was a breath of fresh air. Who wants to get wacked when they're eating? The restaurant is spacious with vaulted ceilings, but this doesn't mean voices bang off your chest like you're sitting in your little brother's car while he's pumping the bass and showing off his new system. The lighting is dark, but inviting, and it has an uncanny way of making everyone's skin look flawless. We were fortunate enough to be seated in the "Vino room", which is just an extension off one of the main dining floors, but they didn't put Baby in the corner if you know your Dirty Dancing. Our server, Joanna, greeted us cordially. Looking at the likes of us (three children under the age of three, a teen, and eight adults) she never once appeared dreadful or frightened of the challenge she was about to face. And she proved confident all the way through the duration of our meal. We started off with two Pizze Rosso's (red sauce appetizer pizzas). We chose a Margherita, and a FUNGHI e SALSICCIA (mozzarella, basil, mushrooms, Italian sausage). We also chose one Pizza Bianca (white) and we went with the Quattro Formaggi (mozzarella, gorgonzola, gran cru, pecorino Romano cheeses). Marzano's prides themselves on their creamy fior di latte mozzarella, which is made in house, and they should be very, very proud. It is wonderful. It melts perfectly, is über rich, and there's a flawless amount of salt. The dough is crispy on the crust where the wood fire has toasted over its little, airy pockets of goodness. The Italian sausage on the Funghi e Salsicca was brilliantly seasoned with just the right quantity of fennel seed and the Quattro Formaggi was luscious, like the chef took all the good stuff out of a stuffed shell and put it on their amazing crust. My only hang up on the pizza's were minor. The red sauce on the Margherita and on the Funghi e Salsiccia fell a little flat and thin in my view. Perhaps it's kept simple to showcase the brightness of the sausage and their mozzarella? But this really should not discourage one for ordering them. They were very scrumptious and the ideal starter for a party of our size. For the main course, I chose the Butternut Squash Ravioli with a Brown Butter Sage Sauce. And it was simply the best ravioli I've ever had. The pasta, itself, was al dente and chomp-into-an-apple-you-just-picked-off-the-branch fresh. The filling inside was velvety and sweet and savory. The chef finishes the dish with a squeeze of citrus (lemon?) and it cuts the richness of the brown butter, but makes the filling inside the ravioli burst to the surface. Each bite jogged my memory back to Thanksgivings previous and gave me a tremendous reminder of family. I got to try bites from others dishes too. The Seared Sea Scallops and wild mushroom risotto with a white truffle oil drizzle was a bad ass mofo. The scallop was faultlessly cooked; caramelized and crusty on the ends, but flaky and tender on the inside. I tried the Chicken Marsala and the breast meat was extremely juicy and tender and succulent. The Marsala sauce was a little too garlicy for my liking, but my girlfriend loved it, so my small gripe is irrelevant and gets canceled out whenever she's happy. For dessert we tried several dishes. There was the Neapolitan Nutella Pizza, which was huge, a kid-pleaser, and it brought the adults back down to their age. We had the Banana Tiramisu and it was decedent and the filling beats the snot out of any banana pudding I've ever had. We rounded out the dessert with their Profiteroles, which are what happens if a hot fudge Sunday had sexy time with a cannoli. Wonderful stuff. My friends, which are my family, and I had a fantastic time. It was just like being at one of our homes; where an old, Italian Gandmother put together a lavish spread. But the only difference was that none of us have an old Italian Grandma and Marzano's did all the work...and probably much, much better. Sorry, granny.

The brunch is awful and way over priced. My husband went there for Easter and him plus 5 family members got food poisoning. I had to go there yesterday for Mother's Day and I too was taken with food poisoning. I don't know why people keep going back. The service was subpar and everything we tried was tasteless and very dry. Do yourself a favor and never eat the horrible brunch

lousy service, soggy pizza crust and blah pasta. When this was Dunhill's it was a bit better but not much. unfortunately they kept the same management it seems which was a misfire. in a state filled with good pizza joints this isnt even in the running. You want good Italian, go to Paisanos.

Living in Mc Henry County leaves you little choices for great dining. So every time I hear of a new place opening gives me hope. This week Marzano's opened, specializing in wood fired pizza and authentic Italian. Once again I was disappointed. The pizza had a nice flavor, but the crust was soggy and uninteresting. When you cook in a wood fired stove you should expect a crispy crust. Not so here. The pasta was priced right. My wife had the pasta w/ bolognese sauce with a side salad for $13. Good, but just that. The salad was good, the bread, warm and crunchy. The pace of dinner was really off. Our salad arrived and the entree's followed withing 30 seconds. I would be hard pressed to be back, even with the $10 certificate given to us when we mentioned the pace problem. Maybe that is harsh at these prices and given the locale.

The food is just ok. Not a lot of flavor. I liked this place a lot better when it was Dunhill's. At least then the chopped salad was good, as well as the bread. Now the dressing for the salad is as bland as the bread. How sad.

I've been there twice since they opened in early Dec - i really enjoyed the pizza...apparently exactly like the pizza you would get in Northern Italy...thin but not cracker like. A bit different than a traditional American Pizza. Service was good; quick drink orders, but they don't serve bread until after you order...a bit annoying. Entrees were out in a reasonable amount time, food was at the same quality and price level as an Olive Garden. overall - a good mid market meal in a nicer ambiance.

Great experience last night. My wife and I went with my five year old daughter. Ordered a cheese pizza to come out early so my daughter could start eating. Of course being a type of pizza she wasn't used to she didn't like it. No big deal - with her it happens often. We got her pizza boxed up to go then my wife's and my entree came. Meanwhile the manager saw that we had boxed up my daughter's pizza. He came over and asked us what was wrong. We simply explained that she didn't like it. He offered her something else so she got plain spaghetti noodles. The waiter brought them out and she loved them. Then the manager came to our table again, this time giving my daughter a $5 gift certificate for her next visit. My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised and thanked him accordingly. We finished our meal. (My salciccia pizza was delicious as usual and my wife enjoyed her stuffed chicken balsamico). When the waiter brought the check we saw they had removed my daughter's cheese pizza and didn't charge for the spaghetti. We would have gladly paid for both since we are used to a five-year-old's picky eating. That on top of the gift certificate was very generous. The manager made sure we were satisfied with our meal. In my experience such above and beyond service is very rare and we really appreciate it. Thanks to Marzano's and that manager for making sure our experience was so positive.

With Marzanos finally open for lunch I wandered over to give it a try. I chose the Funghi e Salsiccia pizza, and it was ready very quickly. I have never had a better pizza in my life, the fresh mozzarella on these pizzas is fantastic. My server was fantastic, my drink refilled quickly, The owner (I presume) was walking around and checking up on everyone's experience as well. The staff was very welcoming, and I look forward to going over there again for lunch (they also have carry out, and since it's walking distance from work, I may do that too.)

I went there last night with my family (5 of us). We went because we had a restaurant.com certificate and, after looking on the Marzano's website, saw that kids eat free on Sundays (it also stated that on the menu). The kids (12, 12 and 9) ordered flavored lemonades, which they loved, and immediately dove into the bread which had a garlic butter brushed on. Very good. We had calamari for appetizer, again good. For the entrees, the kids all ordered a pasta off the kids menu (2 spaghetti w/marinara and 1 penne with meat ragu), we got a side of meatballs for them to share, I got the orecchiette and my husband got the baked ziti. There was a good amount of pasta for the kids. The meatballs were a little overpriced at $5 for 2 regular sized meatballs. My meal was a little bland and my husband's ziti was like any other baked ziti - nothing spectacular (though it did come out so smoking hot that he couldn't eat it for about 5 minutes). I don't know if it was because we had kids with us, but our service wasn't very fast. It wasn't busy at all and yet we had to wait to get refills of drinks, have plates taken away and for the check. When we got our check, we were a little surprised when we were told that because we used the restaurant.com certificate, the kids' meals weren't free. It says on the cert that it is not good with any other offers or promotions. I thought that meant any other coupons, not deals on the menu. My question was if lasagne is $2 less on Saturdays, is it full price if you use the restaurant.com cert? The other problem was figuring out how to get into the parking lot when heading north on 31. We'd been there when it was Dunhills, but had forgotten the back entrance. All in all, I don't think I'll go back here. There are better Italian food places.

We decided to go here for dinner on a Saturday because we wanted pasta and couldn't find a better place close to Woodstock. However, when we entered we saw the wood-fired pizza area and had second-thoughts on the pasta. Our server highly recommended the pizza, too, so we caved and ordered two to share (there were two of us). We got the meatball one and the prosciutto one, and both were terrific and were brought to our table in a timely manner. We were definitely glad we opted for pizza, but we plan to come back to try the other dishes this place has to offer. The decor is casual/simple but nice, and prices were reasonable!

Hosted a business holiday party here in December. They did a great job keeping everyone happy. The separate room was fantastic. They personalized the menus for us (which I thought was great). The servers were great, let us set the pace for the evening instead of trying to rush us through dinner. My only suggestion (can not even call it a complaint) is that I wish they had more vegetarian friendly menu options. Great place!

I'm addicted to a particular authentic pizza place in the city. I'm a mom now and I live in Woodstock. These circumstances don't allow me the freedom of the regular Chicago jaunts I used to enjoy. I've been missing my legit bubbly crust, minimal pizza toppings, just great authentic pizza from the 1000 degree brick oven! When Yelp led me to Marzano's I was excited but hesitant. As it turned out, I'd nothing to be hesitant about. The food was amazing! After a Margherita pizza and Chicken Vesuvio, I was sold on the authenticity this place will provide me as a perfectly satisfactory replacement for my Chicago pizza restaurant/winery fav. Not to mention this last as it's a top consideration: The service was perfect! Attentive, but not annoyingly so. Considerate of all parties at the table, even my 1 year old daughter. I'll be back, Marzano's. So many more pizzas to try! Not to mention that wine list! :)

Came for my birthday dinner! Reuben, our waiter was VERY good! Service was outstanding!! Started with the margherita pizza, thin, crispy and delicious! I had the gnocchi with marinara sauce, while my husband had farfalle al' diavolo but since he doesn't like spicy, he had them make it with olive oil/garlic. Bread they served with meal was warm and yummy! They give you soup or salad with every entree. Too much food but so good! We took home leftovers!!! I would DEFINITELY come here again!! Ask for Reuben! You won't be sorry!!

I ordered a martini dirtier than my wife but not as dirty as my girlfriend. Either the bartender knows both or is just really good at their job. As an added bonus they can hold a decent conversation. The seared scallops were the best I've ever had. I have to assume the rest of the menu is just as good. The interior looks like a steakhouse. Which to me makes it comfortable and a place I'd come back to any time I'm in town.

Finally a great italian/pizza place in the CL McHenry area! No wait on a Friday night. Great service, great menu, great atmosphere!!! Ordered the tarragon shrimp and substituted linguine for gluten free pasta. Yummy! Great salmon also. Will definitely be back!!!

We recently had a small holiday party here. There were 9 of us, loud sales people drinking on the company's tab. So you can only imagine. Luckily it was a Wednesday night and no very busy. Regardless the staff was super supportive and let us do our thing. The food was excellent, the wine was fine, and the shots were... maybe a little too much. Sorry Marzano's. Regardless, great staff, great food, and a good time. Seriously, I have been to Marzano's several times for lunch and dinner and it has always been an excellent experience. It is a great place for a business lunch or to celebrate a special evening.

Pizza Margherita! Such a good experience from the time we stepped into the door and saw the wood fired oven. The staff was excellent and offered suggestions on the type of Margherita pizzas. After ordering we went to the oven where you can see pizza prep. The pizza only took about two minutes to make and were very tasty but not amazing. We probably will try occasionally because are just not super fans of that type of pizza.

Loved this place! Great atmosphere, service was awesome, food was yummy, and prices were reasonable. If you go, be sure to take advantage of their Groupon offer or check-in offer! There is a nice dining area, a bar area, and two private areas for groups. The menu has a good variety so there is something for everyone!

Working at an Italian restaurant I had higher expectations, and good job! I really liked our server Mackenzie, she did a wonderful job and very knowledgeable. People should ask for her as a server. I appreciate good service when I have it. I shared the chopped salad and the braised short rib penne with my brother, and both satisfying dishes. I will be back! :)

They brought me some delicious bread and a plate of parmesan. I am not sure what I was suppose to do with that so I tried it with the bread and with some oil and the bread and it didn't go well. Maybe it was suppose to be for my food. I have no idea. I got the chicken picatta with spinach and broccoli. Everything was cooked well but the chicken was lacking in flavor which was sad becuase it looked great. I ended up having to get some lemons to add to the chicken just for taste. It was good but I think I will try somewhere else next time.

When in McHenry you must come here. If staying at the Hampton Inn it's a great place to have a pizza delivered from directly to your room. Definitely take advantage of their check in offer: free Margherita pizza! The wood fired oven clearly brings out the best in bread of any kind. Fresh leaves of basil were used on this delightful appetizer and I only wish they used more. My dad still doesn't understand Yelp, but he was all too impressed to see how low the bill was at the end of our meal. Thanks for the freebie! Dad got the chicken marsala and I got the salmon. Our dishes were simple and I loved it. Just meat and potatoes. My salmon was covered in a wonderful cream sauce. The red mashed potatoes did not need any doctoring with salt. The restaurant had been open only a couple hours, so no one was there yet. We basically had the place to ourselves. Our food arrived promptly and it was hot and fresh. I took away a star because both my dad and I were not satisfied with our drinks. I wanted cider and they did not even carry it. My dad felt that his martini was not made as well as others he has had, which were made with the same liquor at other venues. Honestly, that's just knit picky as we both left more than happy. With limited selections in McHenry, you can't go wrong choosing Marzano's to satiate your appetite. Big shout outs to the staff for being so friendly! Bros, if you love sports bars, they have the big TV screens and comfortable seating. There is plenty of parking and a hotel next door should you get too drunk to drive. I am not familiar with the area but it seems like the restaurant is kind of far from residential areas, probably catering to the Hampton Inn residents more than anything. Well worth the visit, enjoy!

Have driven past the place before and never had wood fired pizza. Got a deal offer so gave it a try. Pizza was good...had a sausage one and a "white" pizza. Both are thin crust. Both just seemed so "rustic" and minimalist. Guess we're just spoiled on multi-ingredient thin crusts or thick deep dish. Worth the try to do something different with a discount deal but just not our slice of pie so to speak. Place was only 1/4 full on a Sunday evening...not sure that bodes well for future.

NOTE: Review is based on pizza alone. Wow ! What a find ! A REAL Napoletan pizza in McHenry ! Funghi and Salsiccia pizza was true to its Italian roots, while simple pizza Marinara (not on the menu) tasted just like in the streets of Napoli. I know - that's as far as you can get from the "Chicago pizza" style, but that's what the original pizza tastes like. Decent and very reasonably priced wine list. Yelp check-in will get you a free Margherita pizza, but Mon-Thur only (

A change in plans found us unexpectedly at the Hampton Inn for the night ... which led us to Marzano's for dinner as it was right across the parking lot from the inn. Very positive experience. DH and I shared a medium Marzano's Special Pizza with sausage, onion, green pepper, and mushrooms. It seemed a little short on the mushrooms but all around was quite delicious and filling. Nice thin crust which we prefer. DH was delighted to find that the Guiness was on tap. I was quite pleased with an Australian Petit Syrah. We were not able to finish our medium (16") pizza. Nonetheless I could not resist a dish of spumoni. The first dish that arrived to our table was already melting. So the waiter left that one and brought us a fresh dish. The ice cream was still a bit on the soft side. It was tasty, but I would have preferred more nuts and candied fruit which is the traditional style. The décor of Marzano's is what I would call "casual with a touch of upscale." Nice to have cloth napkins and "leather" upholstered booths. Unlikely we will be in the area in the near future, but I would not hesitate to recommend Marzano's to family and friends who live in the McHenry area.

Had a wedding rehearsal dinner at Marzano's in a private room just off the main dining area. The food was great, but the service was even better! Reuben and Kasey bent over backwards to make sure our event went off without a hitch. The timing on the salad, main course, and dessert could not have been better and the staff stayed on a little later than normal just so some of us could enjoy an after dinner cocktail. If you are planning an event, give Marzano's a try......and be sure to ask for Reuben and Kasey!

We had a great time here. We went for dinner on a Friday night around 6:30. It was full but there was no wait. We loved the atmosphere. The tables and chairs had a super club feel but it also felt a bit rustic. The lighting was just right. We ordered a bottle of a delicious Moscato and thought it was a great price at only $18 a bottle. It was served on ice with nice glasses. Our server Ruben did a fantastic job. He was 100% on point with his personality, service, and timing. I'm a picky eater and everything was perfect with our order. He was very attentive and his service helped make it a great experience. Their bread is amazing! Crunchy, warm and served with oil and Parmesan cheese it is delicious! We couldn't finish our meals because we filled up on the amazing bread. The steak was fine and the wood-fired pizza was good. The soup and salad were very tasty too. We thought it was a great place! We'll definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone.

Terrible. Ordered what was a very tiny Chopped Salad for 12 dollars, which was actually a side salad. Also, had the Prosciutto DI Parma. Completely soggy, not crispy at all. This was a carryout, I live 3 minutes away. Was really looking forward to trying this place. The tiny, terrible meal was 27 dollars. I had to put in in the oven to try and crisp it up but nothing could save this soggy mess. Lesson learned and now I know I can spend my money at Slyce, where I should have gone to begin with.

I came here with my hubby's family. The waitress was super friendly the entire time. The water boy was super friendly but I felt he came too often and always interrupted our convos by asking if we wanted more water. Normally, ppl just fill them up without asking so they don't interrupt. Not a big deal but just noticeable. Here are my food reviews: Shirley temple: perfect amount of grenadine vs sprite. You'd be surprised at how many places can't get this right! Calamari: the taste was just ok... It did maintain temperature really well. Once you bite into it, it's super hot! I think it needed more seasoning because it was pretty tasteless. The texture was good though. Spinach and artichoke dip: It came with thick chips instead of bread and the dip was just amazing!!! They don't give enough chips though, you have to ask for more to finish the yummy dip. Tuscan soup: it was okay, not something I would order separately (as opposed to it being included in my meal). The sausage in it was good but the base was just okay. Gnocchi a la vodka: this is always my favorite dish to order when offered at restaurants so I was super psyched: however, it was just okay. The sauce was pretty good- but it was the gnocchi that I was not a fan of. I looove chewy homemade gnocchi and this one just tasted like cheap boiled ones. I was pretty disappointed. It was my mother in law's birthday. I told the waitress and she gave her a large slice of chocolate cake and a scoop of ice cream with a candle. It was amazingly chocolatey and delicious!!!! I loved it. We asked for 4 boxes to go. The waitress kindly put all of our food in the 4 boxes in front of us and bagged them. Normally restaurants either give me the box and I do it myself or they bring my plate in the kitchen and bring it back to me boxed up. I thought it was interesting she did it in front of us. She also poured the martinis in front of us instead of bringing it pre made from the kitchen. The pro is you can see they are packaging all of your leftovers and pouring it fresh from the mixer. The con is it is kind of awkward with her doing these time consuming things in the middle of us, causing us to pause our conversations. No biggie either way, just an observation. To conclude, the service was amazing and some of the food was good and some (including the main dish) were just okay. I'd come back to try something else next time!

My wife and I normally have a good experience at Marzano's,but this time I have to say it wasn't that great. There is nothing more annoying than wait staff persistently moving around while you are eating asking to remove plates, glasses etc as soon as you pause or finish.Rushing around setting other tables for the next day at 8.00pm kinda ruins the ambience.I understand people want to get their work done , but this might make us try somewhere new

I suspect Marzano's gets by on stellar pizza, and a rather upscale ambiance. Normally, I don't expect those two things in the same place. I was there with a group of business associates, and we had several types of pizza as appetizers. The sausage pizza was pretty incredible, and the chicken pizza was better than decent. On the entree side, I opted for filet mignon with broccoli and garlic-mashed potatoes. The filet was cooked properly, but left totally unseasoned and lying in a pool of what was supposed to be demi-glace. It tasted faintly of garlic, and strongly of "chemical". The garlic-mashed potatoes I'm guessing were pre-packaged and warmed up, given the "wet" consistency and lack of flavor. The real surprise was the broccoli. It was like they took a microwave bag of Green Giant frozen broccoli, and gave me a fifth of the contents. On the other hand, the bread they left at the table was completely awesome. I was sad they took it away, because I wanted it more than my entree. The staff was quite friendly and accommodating, which is a huge plus. Overall, though, the not-pizza was tragic. For McHenry, I guess Marzano's is pretty high-end, and where you go on a date. Unless you're going for pizza or to fulfill a dating requisite, I can't say I'd recommend it.

Wonderful food and wonderful service. My husband and I only just discovered this gem that is only just up the street from our home and we absolutely love it already. I went here on a date with the bf last night because I had bought a Groupon a while ago - it was good! We had a few Stella draughts, devoured the bread basket, and ordered two Neopolitan pizzas - the funghi and the roasted red pepper. They came out in probably about five minutes which was great, and they tasted pretty good too - nothing exceptional but I would get them again. I definitely liked the roasted red pepper one better because it had kalamata olives, pepperoncinis, and the peppers - which was a delicious combo. All in all it was great - our server was attentive, the food was good, and the ambience was perfect for a date. I'm giving five stars because I really can't think of any negatives about our meal!

I had the Chicken Marsala with sautéed spinach. The Chicken was a wee bit too salty for me. The service was just ok!!!

Was a nice family dinner table was ablil xlose to the fireplace. Food was good we had 3 pasta dishes ribs and veal. Salad was nice dressing i like mine but the ranch was real thin. Soup a potato was ok. Family thought it would be thicker by discreption. Hot i think 4 or 5 choices. Service was great. Very attentive.

The atmosphere is as wonderful as the food and the staff. The owner is friendly and makes sure his guests are taken care of wonderfully.

Terrible! It's Tuesday evening and it's not even busy, and the 2 of us sat there for almost 10 minutes without any service and walked out! Other families were seated after us and we're waited on! Won't be returning.

For this kind of pizza, I had to drive one hour to SpaccaNapoli, but now it is right here within 10 minutes. . I don't know anything about the rest of the restaurant, pizza is all I have here and it is very good.

I definitely say it is worth going a little out of your way from Crystal Lake or Algonquin - avoid the chain restaurants and try this understated, though nicely appointed gem.

what a great place to go with a group of friends , The atmosphere is great, We sat in the Bar area instead of the dinning area.

If that has the same feel as tonight did I probably will not return.

lousy service, soggy pizza crust and blah pasta.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
