Great wings...breaded and meaty. Several flavors to choose from. The spicy garlic is a buffalo sauce with sauteed garlic mixed in...very tasty. The regular buffalo flavor is a bit on the spicy side, which I liked. Great draft beer selection and good prices.

I've lived less than a mile from Sals for I don't know how long and have never been in there. The first time was a few months back. I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza, I picked it up and the staff made me feel so welcome that I ordered another one a few weeks later. The pizza was delicious! I made sure to tell them that I like it very spicy and they made sure it was to my liking. I haven't gone to the bar part but I've heard that the Karaoke is pretty good. It sounds like they have kick ass deals as well. I'll have to make it in there on a Karaoke night, it sounds very entertaining, but for now...more buffalo chicken pizza awaits. =]

Typical Pizza Pub, but with better than you'd expect pizza. Also known for the coldest beer in town, which I have found to be true. Clean, comfortable atmosphere with televisions turned on the different channels to catch all the sporting events. Not a large bar area, but many tables surrounding with dim lighting inside. Mixed crowd of people, and it seems Sal's has a friendly disposition to all the patrons. My friend and I were treated to a round of drinks by the owner Sal who was sitting and talking with everybody at the bar. I'll be back again for the pizza and the cold beer, and the friendly staff at Sal's.

I had been past Sal's MANY times without stopping. I have been to bars with really good pizza and the fact that it was in the name made me think it worth a try. Unfortunately, "Sal's Pub" would have been a much better name. The pizza wasn't bad but was rather generic and unexciting. The general feel of that place was much more bar than anything else. The beer selection was not much better, either. Your basic overpriced cheap beer like Bud Light. I wouldn't drink that stuff if it were free. I am sorry to say I cannot recommend Sal's.

What attracted me most about Sal's Pizza Pub, apart from my wife suggesting it, was the prevalence of four-star reviews. Does anyone give it five or three stars? Such a small variance suggests a place that hides nothing, assumes no false airs, and has so much salt-of-the-earth to it that you'd swear you were at the ocean. On a beautiful Friday, reminiscent of trips to the ocean while we lived on the east coast, my wife and infant joined me for lunch at Sal's. With our little one, late-night rollicking is a memory. Too bad; I'm a big fan of karaoke. With an option to order at the register or at our table, we went for the restaurant treatment. The number of take-out orders during our stay confirmed Sal's decision to make the offer. If a place can be trashy without being dumpy, Sal's might be it. There are many non-matching TVs around the place. The carpet looks as if many a gallon of beer has been absorbed into its fibers, yet the upholstery in the booths are not in need of duct tape. And, for some reason, the place is devoid of women during the day. For most of our meal, my wife was the only XX'er there. Oh yes, the meal. Pretty dang good, I must say. We split a buffalo chicken sandwich and a "sloppy Jose." I can't say that the chicken sandwich is that different than other sandwiches of that ilk, but the quality of the ingredients were good, as was the balance. The chicken could've been a little thicker, I suppose. The sloppy Jose was my preferred sandwich. With two types of cheese and jalapeno slices, the sandwich had a nice kick that wasn't too powerful. Even my wife, who cringes at the thought of another Manwich, liked the taco meat in its place. The bun was a bit stale, but not too much to ding the review. Ordinary fries, rings and other sides completed our meal. Nothing special, but it was nice to get two sides with each sandwich. Every town should have a place like this. Many channels on many TVs, but local station WGN got the one audio track. The server wore an untucked T-shirt and jeans, but you wouldn't expect anything else here. Sal's is exactly what you think it will be, and that's a good thing. I think I'll enjoy coming here one evening, as soon as we trust a babysitter enough.

I LOVE Sals!! It's a place where you feel welcome- no matter what. Eric the bartender is EXCELLENT. He's got a finger on the pulse of everyone's needs and the family that owns it is always there to help and maintain that energy. I really love them,

Located in a little strip mall in a town in which we'd never before set foot, we entered expecting to split a pretty decent pizza and a pitcher of beer. Surprised by multitude of TV screens and sports galore, drink specials ($4 Long Island Teas on this particular Friday night - one'll do ya'), and efficient service with a smile. It's a pizza place, but it provides a fairly diverse selection of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, salads and entrees, none of which will break the bank. I saw several patrons tearing into big platters of chicken wings, and the pizza selection was decent, but I decided to try the Philly cheesesteak with thick, crisp onion rings (really delicious), while my husband ordered a burger customized with chili, jalapeños and cheese (the cheese was omitted, but unmissed until he was nearly finished devouring it) and fries (a little on the cool side but pretty good). Drinks were never empty, and we left the place wishing we lived near enough to come back regularly. Terrific service, wallet-sparing prices, and an atmosphere that rivals larger-scale sports bars that try a lot harder and cost a lot more. Come grab a table or belly up to the bar - you won't be sorry!

I had a surprisingly great time at Sal's. I was in L-Town (as I like to call it) for a friend's birthday party. We went to Sal's for some karaoke on a Saturday night and had a blast. When we first got there, the place was PACKED! It was standing room only. We had about 10 people in our group, and there were a couple other big birthday party groups there. We literally had to stand off to the side of the room right where they set up the karaoke "stage." Once people started singing, we were pretty much standing right in front of them, like they were singing right to us. Ha! It was cool, though. The DJ they had hired for the night (DJ Q) was really great. He was funny, and I liked the songs he was playing between performances. He really got the crowd into it. Eventually, the crowd died out and we were able to sit at a table in front. At that point, we ordered some snacks, you know since we finally had a table to put them on. We ordered mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms and cheesy garlic bread. Everything was really good! I definitely want to try Sal's pizza. I had been eying it from nearby tables, and it it looked really good. I guess the two negatives for Sal's would be that it's a small place, and the bathroom situation. There were only one men's and one women's bathroom, so you were always waiting in line. Overall, we had a really great time. Next time I'm in L-Town, I'll definitely hit up Sal's and try their pizza.

It's raining outside. Usually, I go pick-up. Love this place!!!

Do not come here with high expectations, because this is your typical dive bar. Located in Lombard in the middle of a strip mall, the neon glow of SAL's draws in a lot of locals. Seating is limited on the weekend, but they're always able to accommodate if you have a larger party. The food is deliciously greasy, and the drinks are cheap. If you're looking for somewhere to just 'grab a beer' with your friends - this is your place.

  • Real H.

Wouldn't go back. Karaoke guy was rude to me. The regulars are obnoxious- they should really just drink in their basements rather than bringing the rest of us down.

This is a little hole in the strip mall wall that is definitely worth checking out. The food is pretty good for your typical bar food. Usually we get pizza from here because I love pizza! The pizza is really good. Luckily it is in walking distance from the apartment, so it is pretty convenient. We have gone here to watch a couple hawks playoff games and it can get pretty crowded because it is small. I would suggest if you are going to watch a sporting event or from what I hear karaoke to get there early. The price is right and the food is good. Worth checking out for some drinks and dinner!

  • Rosie M.

my favorite dive bar :) the employees are so nice and their snack selection is huge for such a small place! the pizza is also really good for such a little place (try the italian beef pizza yummm) and I get the cheese fries everytime. It's typical bar food but a great location, good music, and fun people. Now how do I meet Sal????

    (4)
  • Tony H.

A great little hole in the wall type place. Beer is cold, drinks are generously poured, food is tasty (so i hear), Karaoke is pure fun, and it happens like 3 nights/week. You really feel like you're there with a bunch of your friends. And that's mostly because a few of your friends are bound to be here partaking in the fun already. I have yet to try any of the food, but I hear it's pretty stellar. There are plenty of tv's to go around, and it never gets slam-packed in here. One of my new favorite local spots since I moved back home.

I was just thinking about the first time I sat down in Sal's Pizza Pub with my best friend from college. I had walked in here once or twice as a kid with my parents to pick up a pizza, but other than that, never ventured over until well after my college graduation... Cue first real visit. Cold Beer, Great Service, and Tasty food...the nachos weren't my fave (and still aren't) but the pizza---OH MAN---the pizza. Yum Yum Yum. I felt like I was home, but still a stranger in this new bar. Fast forward about 5 years (now), and I walk into the place, and it really is like walking into my home. The bouncer knows me, even if it's been a few months since my last visit. The owners/bartenders (Sal and Danny) smile in my direction and almost always remember that I drink vodka and club soda. The stellar superstar server Ryan always remembers my drink it feels like I'm getting drinks from old friends. There's always someone I know, so I never feel like I'm drinking alone at this place. But typically, it's loaded up with pals that I've met along the way. Make sure to check this place out during karaoke night (Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday) for a show you won't want to miss. Thursday is the Q & A session with Quinn and Adam. Let's just say, you won't have a more interesting night than one watching these two showmen rock out with their...well maybe not...but you get the gist. Trust me when I say this is the place to be.

Go on Kareoke night! Once upon a time when I was in middle school, I recall a very large individual (the largest I knew, in fact) tell me that Sal's had some of the best food he'd ever had. Despite hearing this from an incontestable source I put off visiting Sal's for 10 years or so. Since I was newly back in town off of active duty and lacking in acquaintances, I convinced my sister to check out the place with me. The bouncer was very friendly. It was one of those rare nice days in March, and the place was packed. It was a very light atmosphere, with some people dancing, and some people that should have been too old to be dancing :) The 2 guys running the Kareoke were a lot of fun. 5 dollar pitchers were also a lot of fun. Good time at Sal's.

I moved in the apartment complex right next to Sal's so I decided to go in a few days ago. The environment is great, very relaxed and lots of tv screens (for the sports lovers). The server we had was really chill and overall a really polite guy! Food is good and prices are reasonable.. All around, really great place to go, have a few drinks and watch some sports :) Will definitely visit again.

  • Chris H.

Overall, not bad. It's kind of a local dive/hang out. I like the place quite a bit for what it is, but compared to some other bars I've been to, it's average. The food is pretty good, the beer is cold. Service can be a bit slow. Great place to watch a game or just grab a beer. Just don't expect high class drinks. It's a watering hole for locals, plan and simple, and I like it that way.

Food is great and reasonably priced!! Staff is SUPER friendly! We eat here a lot because we all work close by and have never had a bad meal every-great place-we love it!!

For me this is the place to be. I always tell people this is my "Cheers" and that's exactly how it feels. I know everyone's name and they know mine. From great pizza, karaoke x3/week, and friendly staff that warmly greets familiar faces, this is a bar for those who don't need a theme, overpriced drinks, or blasting pop music to have a great time.

Long story short, everybody has a good time at Sal's! This is my favorite place to go for cold beer, pizza, and the best wings I've had (try the Chipotle BBQ wings) for Bears games, and on Karaoke nights! The Karaoke DJ's are hilarious, and most nights that I've gone, the bar has been packed with fun, beautiful people like myself. They have Karaoke 3 nights a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The crowd at Sal's is consistently pretty cool, and the staff are, for the most part, sweethearts. All the food that they offer tastes wonderful, just don't expect to eat healthy - after all, "Pizza" and "Pub" are in the name. I had the turkey club last week (I just left the gym and I was like "turkey can't be bad for me"...with bacon...and mayo... BUUUT, I drank MGD lite, and I DID have the the sandwich on wheat bread instead of white...with fries) and while it was delicious, I'm wondering why I didn't just eat wings or pizza instead.

I swear, I think I'm the only person who grew up in this town who had never been to this bar. Something about it terrified me for a long time... maybe that it's in a strip mall with a 7-11 and a Kenny Roger's Chicken Brooster... okay it's not Kenny Rogers, it's just Brooster's but it's more fun to add the Kenny Rogers part. The point is- I finally took the plunge and now I'm pretty pumped to go back. The staff here is super friendly and make it seem like home... A home that has 17 flat screen TVs in one room that is. They have cheap beer, cheap food, and a whole hell of a lot of karaoke. There were 2 guys hosting karaoke on the night I went and they put on quite the show. Seriously, I would pay money to watch them karaoke all night. They are hilarious! Totally a reality show kind of couple... like Pumba and Timon from the Lion King. I will definitely be back and I may even make it a point to show on a karaoke night.

Pretty darn good... so it's really sad that i've basically lived by this place all my life but finally experienced it two days ago... and now wish I new about it a LOT sooner. Friendly service and ice cold beer, even the bar patrons were just very talkative and friendly. Got a thin crust "The Jerk" pizza (basically Jamaican jerk chicken pizza w/ pineapple, red/green bell peppers and jerk sauce) and it was great. Got my parents and wife just the standard green peppers and onion and they like it as well I'll be back here soon.

Order the Big Papa and chili cheese fries. This is seriously as good as fast-food gets. Big, hot, steamy, greasy portions of delicious food: I love you, Sal's.

    (5)
  • Jenna S.

Oh, suburban Chicago... you kind of ratchet. That said, Sal's is a pretty good place to hang out with your townie friends who never moved into Chicago. Before 8 p.m., this place is a 'family restaurant' (though I'm not entirely sure how that works), so just keep that in mind when you want to watch sports and begin drinking at a bar before 4 p.m. This place has good specials, cheap prices and karaoke every weekend. At first, you think karaoke is lame but wait... it'll be great after four or five beers. I'm not entirely sure what kind of food this place serves late night, but there's a chicken joint and a Chinese place in the same strip mall if you're hungry. I like hanging out here with my friends, especially since some of them only live like 5 blocks from here. It makes for good drinking and non-driving after a nice evening out.

Just moved to Lombard not too long ago and I Love this place!! The pizza is awesome and wings aren't so bad either! It's basically a townie bar but prices aren't bad and they're usually always packed!

  • Juan B.

My uncle moved to Lombard last year and told us this was a good place for a few drinks! You won't find anything fancy here but what you will find is a bunch of people from different walks of life having a good old time! It ranges from a bunch of guys getting together to have a few beers, to girls night out to a couple on date night. The Karaoke is great and Q (The karaoke DJ) is really good and keeps the party engaged. I don't do karaoke but I loved how people here can literally get up and sing and no one judged good or bad. There pizza was also really good! Price for food and alcohol is extremely reasonable here! Like I said a bunch of people from different walks of life just looking to have a good time! With my uncle down the street, I'm sure there will be many more nights at Sal's to come!

  • Ron B.

Lived in the area for a long time, but never tried this place until recently. It clearly is a sports bar so as long as that's your frame of reference you'll feel comfortable here. The bar area itself almost takes up half the restaurant. First, the chicken wings are great! Some of the best I have had. Try the sweet & spicy. They are excellent. The pizza here is good as well. Nice amount of ingredients and served hot. Finally, the staff here are good. Our waitress was sweet, attentive, and took care of us well. Overall, for an evening of beer, wings, and pizza, this would be a great place to meet friends or watch the game.

    (5)
  • Patrick W.

Saturday night karaoke! Awesome staff, friendly patrons and great food. Their pizza is top notch and the wings surpass the likes of hooters, which is right down the street. They always have drink specials and pour cocktails with a heavy hand. Everyone feels welcome here and you'll never know who you're going to run into. A Lombard favorite!

    (5)
  • Andy M.

Does it get any worse. This is atypical of an ugly suburban DPage county bar in a really ugly area of small strip malls and office buildings. This bar is tucked and hidden away from the rest of the world and that is a good thing. you really will never see this place unless you get loss around Yorktown mall. It is an ageing bar with bad interiors and crummy look. They have pizza on their title but do not be mislead by the name. The pizza is like what you normally get in a bar and nothing special. Infact, it is pretty bad along with the flat beer on tap.

I went here for the first time a few months ago for an impromptu casual date night with Fred. We have lived SO close to this place forever and never went in, so we just had to check it out. We walked in and sat at a booth since it's not the hostess seats you kind of place. It definitely feels much more like a bar than anything else, which I loved because that's how I was feeling that night anyway. If you live in the VP area, you will know what I mean when I say that it feels like Lombard's version of Cap's. It seemed like almost everyone inside were regulars and that this is where the Glenbard East alum hang out. Anyways, we were greeted quickly by the server who took our drink order and brought us some menus. We heard that we had to try the pizza, so we did and also got a salad. We ordered the Chili Cheese Dog pizza and the Hawaiian pizza and some kind of salad (can't remember exactly which one) that came with a little bag of dressing. I know it's just a bar-type place, but I HATE getting bagged dressing! Even if it's not homemade, I still prefer it in the little cups, totally a personal preference though. But that pizza...WOW!! SOOOO tasty and different. They have a wide array of topping options and combinations and the two we got were fantastic. My favorite was the Chili Cheese Dog one...seriously...fat central station right there...but SO worth all the fat and calories that came along with it! It even had a drizzle of cheese sauce on the top. Yeah...I know. And the Hawaiian was as expected...sweet, juicy and delicious. I have told all my WB friends how good it is...so who knows...we might just make that into Caps 2.0 before you know it! HA!

What took us so long? We live a short walk from Sal's and only just tried their pizza. I have no excuse. We went simple: a 16" rolled dough cheese pizza. I picked it up, and noted the interior for future visits. It's small, cozy, a local sports bar. I have no idea what their beer list is like, although there was a sign for Moose Drool, so they may have a craft brew or two. The pizza was very tasty. Cut into larger pieces, with a sturdy crust that didn't flop and wasn't too floury and had a nice taste. The cheese broke nicely and it had a good browning. There was a slight sweetness, which may have come from the sauce, which was perhaps a little skimpy -- but I don't like sauce oozing everywhere, and it blended nicely with the cheese and crust. Given their proximity, tastiness and affordability, I have to imagine Sal's is going to become a regular feature of our pizza nights.

  • John G.

Was not impressed! Wings were chewy, and pizza tasted like cardboard. I should have ordered pizzza hut. Wings did have a great flavor of sauce, i ordered the Chipotle barbecue, too bad they were chewy.

    (1)
  • David C.

Had the pizza...it was very good. Had carry out so can't speak to anything else. Inside had a local sports bar feel. Hawks game on the many TVs, casual atmosphere.

  • Laura N.

There's a reason this bar gets packed every weekend! The staff is extremely friendly, everything is clean and comfortable and the crowd is diverse and welcoming. If you like to just hang out and have a great time, this is for you. Nothing pretentious or exclusive here! Karaoke gets wild, I can't remember a night here without laughter and good times! I love this place! Oh and of course it's not just a bar, come during the day for great pizza, wings, burgers, whatever... everything is cooked with love!

  • Tommy S.

Great food for a great price. Their beef sandwich with mozz is arguably the best one you can get outside the city. Not only is it delicious, it's huge! You more than get your money's worth at this lil joint. There are about 25 TVs all the way around the bar, dart board, and some video games. They run tabs and make a free pizza for you to sample while you're drinking. They also do a business card give-away every once in a while. The chicken strips are the best thing on the menu in my opinion. The buffalo sauce is VERY hot so be careful on that one. Enjoy! Regards, CFC

  • Amy L.

Sals has a relaxed atmosphere, decent food, fantastic pizza, and cold beer! The owners are cool and laidback and prices are definitely reasonable. It's small, but cozy, and not too loud. There are 15 TVs playing everything from sports games to the news to Food TV. Playoff games are a blast at Sals and they often raffle off Jerseys (Hawks and Bears)!! Darts and a juke box complete the place. Oh and there's Karaoke on Saturdays! It's my kind of bar!

  • Anne J.

    Good Food! Beer is cold!

    (3)
  • Chester R.

kind of a hole, with pretty good food, and really cold beer. it's a decent choice for lunch, if you feel like eating really unhealthy that day, they do sell pizza by the slice. not a place i would hang out at to watch a game (unless i lived within walking distance), but a do recommend it for an artery clogging lunch.

    (3)
  • Scott T.

Pretty amazing pizza! Loved their buffalo chicken and Sals special. Drink specials are pretty on point. They actually have a decent amount of bottle beers, you just would never know it because they don't have any sort of beer or liquor menu. Which sucks because your choices on tap aren't all that impressive. Service was pretty good, we went on a Thursday and they have karaoke, so it was super packed. You could barely find a place to sit. The only down side of the service is that the employees have no form of a uniform so your just guessing/hoping someone comes up to you asking for an order. Over all it was an average place to hangout. But I really loved the pizza!

How can you complain about a place that saved you from a tornado? I'm not even kidding you. Allow me to set the stage... Chrissy W. and I had just left our fabulous sex & the city-esque dinner at Capital Grille not too far from Sal's when the sky started to turn dark and the wind began to pick up. By the time we were out of the Yorktown parking lot, it was pitch-black outside and pouring, and the street lights all shorted. Then, the tornado sirens began. (turns out there was a touch-down in Downers that night) I thought she was going to rip the center console out of my car. I floored it. She told me to head for Sal's. We arrived, in one piece, and promptly got her a drink. The place was empty that day, but they saved us from imminent doom. For that, we love you, Sal's! The fact that I'm rarely in there (once a quarter, maybe?) but the waiter still remembers me and my drink, is points. Karaoke is fun. The food is decent. But they saved me from a freakin' tornado.

Sal's is a great place to throw back a few beers with friends any day of the week or belt a few Karaoke tunes if you show up on Thursday. Nice $5 / pitcher of high life deal on Thursdays and half price appetizers till 7. Aside from the cheap booze they get a nice beer of the month and have a few other good ones on tap. Their Philly is pretty damn good. Guy (Ryan) is also an awesome server... so tip well!

Perfect hole-in-the wall neighborhood bar. Service is fairly quick, and everyone is very friendly. I recommend the hot wings!

First and foremost, the service was great. Our waitress told us the specials and most popular items since it was our first time. We got a pitcher of beer for 7 bucks which came with chilled glasses (always nice). The mozz sticks with marinara were good and were timed nicely. The sals pizza was awesome, but you definitely need to like spicy hot. Our waitress was very attentive and prompt. There were a ton of tvs in the bar which was a plus for watching sports!

I live down the street, and on my way home I searched pizza on Yelp. This place came up, and I called in a carry out. The woman behind the counter was so friendly. I ordered a Large Pepperoni. Thin crust, it was yummy. My boyfriend and I both liked it. We shall be ordering from there again.

I could repeat Ron B's 9/29/2013 review word for word here, since his review perfectly described Sal's Pizza Pub. However, that's kinda not my style. Even back in my school days, I wasn't the type to just copy someone else's work... so, here we go! Cool little neighborhood sports bar. Pizza is terrific Chicago-style thin crust. Sauce is tangy and flavorful without being too sweet, crust is perfect thick yet thin and crisp, and cheese is melted deliciousness. You can throw some darts, catch a game, or order one of a handful of beers they have on tap. All at reasonable neighborhood sports bar prices! I'll definitely be back when I am back in town again.
