My favorite ice-cream shop! I always get the cotton candy chip but lately they have been offering the birthday cake which amazing! Omg I lie this place. Have been coming here for years. The serving size is huge and the prices fair. I always miss this ice-cream when they close for the season.

The atmosphere is fun! They do a great job on their cakes and their ice cream is the superb!

Pretty generic ice cream counter. Someone got gelato and said it was good, but everything is obviously just out of a big box-o-ice-cream. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing stand out about it. We'll go back if all the Dairy Queens burn down.

Very solid selection and tasty. I'm not sure where these negative "Dean's ice cream in a box from the grocery store is better" reviews are coming from. I make my own ice cream at home (with eggs - aka the real deal) and appreciate quality. Cool Creations, while not the best in the world or the Chicagoland area, is definitely worth a trip.

You can really taste the difference in that the ice cream here is homemade. There are so many unique flavors and they're all great! I get the kid's cup and that's actually more than enough for me so it is also budget-friendly.

I love ice cream and have tried to try it here for a while, I am glad they are finally open. I ordered red velvet, a new taste sensation, and it was fun to experience a new flavor. I also enjoyed the sitting/eating area of the shop. It was cute with plump red cushion seats and darling tables. I wish the serving area had been nearly as cute. It was a mess and a more than a bit off putting. There were boxes and junk all over the place. That area of the store looked like they had just opened the door and not done a thing. And the woman (manager? owner?) joking that she was going to lay down on the floor and cry, um, pretty much weird. Ice cream - 4 Store - 5 for sitting, 2 for ordering/serving Personnel - 4 for young gals/1 for older woman I would try it again but I sure hope they make the front part of the store more appealing and keep odd emotional life reactions in the back!

Meh. Just okay. My first disappointment was the ambiance. Walking through the front door, your eyes are immediately drawn to the seating area on the right of the shop - beautiful, plush, gleaming red vinyl booths. My heart skipped a beat in anticipation of lounging at one of those lovely tables to enjoy *homemade* ice cream. My bubble burst upon turning to the left, where it would appear their stockroom projectile-vomited all over the rest of the establishment. Large boxes and supplies were strewn everywhere, including the service counter. Really, really unappealing. At the time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking they might've received a shipment of inventory earlier in the day that was yet to be put away. After our visit, I was shocked to read some other reviews to learn this condition is apparently the norm. Alrighty then! My second disappointment was that despite several advertisements of 'Homemade Ice Cream' on the exterior of the building, all of the five flavors my family selected (and seemingly all available in the freezer case, as well) were scooped from bins with an obscure brand name on them. Maybe at one point in time the ice cream is/was homemade, but not the day we happened to visit. The ice cream itself was average; everyone agreed it was nothing memorable. The two teenage employees who served us were very pleasant; however, they could benefit from a little sales training. My Hubs asked some questions about the ingredients in a few flavors with ambiguous names, and was met with blank stares and stammering. Though he didn't inquire, from my experiences at other ice cream shops, I would've expected for them to offer him a sample of the flavors he was asking about. I love to support local, mom & pop businesses, but don't plan a return trip to this one. Cool Creations could really be something special if the ownership put a little more love & effort into not only the establishment itself, but also the kids in the community they're employing.

Went in here when I heard that they sell gelato. However, they had only a few flavors and it was pretty much all fruit flavors and vanilla. The gelato comes from the Gelati place in Naperville, which was sort of a disappoint. Vanilla wasn't bad but I've had better. Also got a quart of the cookie dough, cheap at $6.79, which actually fared better than the gelato, As quaint as the outside looked, the inside felt old and dusty, as if the place hadn't been cleaned or aired out. Expect to be served by high schoolers so don't count on the most attentive service. Ice cream was very good, but if you want gelato, Naperville Whole Foods is better in terms of price and flavor, which is saying something as much as I don't like putting a chain over a small business.

Their ice cream is amazing and has been for a long time. Their portion sizes are pretty generous and their staff is very friendly too.

Great ice cream (try the Hawaiian Delight), brownies and chocolate covered bananas. The no bathroom thing is unfortunate, so make sure you make prior arrangements. They have seating inside and out, and there is usually a crowd on summer nights. They do not accept debit/credit cards so bring cash!

Well, I have a slightly different opinion of this ice cream shop. Yes the choice of gelato, sorbetto and ice cream is a nice plus and the ice cream is good and you get a big serving for the price asked. Yet I expect a local shop to actually serve its community and provide a friendly service. So here is where my rating went down the drain: - no water available to go with your ice cream, not really nice when you've been biking the I&M canal trail and you just want a nice break. - no restrooms for customers, restrooms are for employees only. Are you kidding me? - Well, the kids serving the ice cream could be a bit more customers friendly as well.... So yep, good ice cream but doesn't deserves your money.

We love this cozy ice cream shop. It is inside a historical building. They have many varieties of ice cream. I personally like the sorbets and gelatos, because I am lactose intolerant. The rest of my family says the ice cream is the best around!

One thing that I love the most about summers growing up was when this opened for the season. Oh how my eyes got big and my tummy giggled with anticipation. I think my parents knew to get me a drool cup when they told me we were going for the first time for the summer. No place in CA will ever compare to the HOMEMADE ice creams made here in a variety of flavors from the original vanilla to superman. (Oh god someone send me home so I can go get some superman ice cream now please). It's located near State Street, next to the Public Library and the bank, across from a bicycle shop. Eat inside or out on picnic style benches. Get taste test scoops. If you want more than just a cone you can get tubs of it to bring home as well. All ice cream is made right there at the location. They also have cookies, brownies, and other assorted pastries. It's been around since I was a toddler and now going home I bring my own kids there (thanks for making me feel old). Everyone is bound to love it here. It is a MUST STOP during the summer.

My boyfriend and I went to Cool Creations tonight to get ice cream, and enjoy the Summer sunset. They have ice cream, yogurt, gelato, slushes, etc. We both had ice cream in a waffle cone. The waffle cone was big, and I could tell it was homemade - it was delicious! The ice cream was delicious as well, and again I could tell it was homemade. They had lots of flavors to choose from. It was hard to make a decision. The girls who work there were very friendly. We will visit Cool Creations again for sure!

Unbelievably good ice cream! They have tons of flavors, fresh cookies and brownies, and low fat sorbet. The prices are fantastic, and the employees are very nice.

I really love this ice cream shop. They have been taking my money for the last 18 years and are still worth every dime and then some. They are reasonably priced for large portions, My favorite is Cookies and Cream on a sugar cone, but everything is great!
