I may be biased but I'm giving Jubelt's rave reviews. I love this little place. It is a local diner that is full of familiar faces. I think what I love most is the pricing. After living in the city you forget that Starbucks is horrendously expensive until you go to a tiny place like this. I can get a medium coffee for a dollar and a pastry bigger than my palm (not exaggerating) for $1.50. It's always packed on weekend mornings but the waitresses never cease to be friendly, quick, and thorough. It's not a beautiful place and is your typical diner but is worth a trip. The food is always fresh and the portions are large for what little you shell out at the end. Their omelets are fantastic and extremely filling along with the cinnamon roll french toast (not the healthiest, but definitely delicious). When I come home this is the first place I visit on a sunday after church and also the last place I go on my way back to school for a morning pastry.

Dine here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner Jubelts is much more than a bakery. The delicious scent of baked goods greeted me as my girlfriend and I walked through the door. The diner / restaurant has a homey and welcoming feel. Great atmosphere and a wonderful break from the road. My girlfriend enjoyed a delicious BLT while I had the combo breakfast with some of the best Biscuits & Gravy I've ever had. Don't underestimate this unassuming restaurant and if you're full, grab a pie to go. The doting grandma types behind the counter probably baked it today.

Stopped by here on way home from St. Louis. Excellent! We got the German sampler dinner and kids got breakfast. Busy place with yummy pie and pleasant service. Been in business since 1922. Skip the chains and swing by here for good prices and filling yummy food.

While on our way to Princeton, IL and Hornbaker Gardens we had breakfast at Jubelt's. We actually stopped in Litchfield, thinking Ariston Café might serve breakfast, but they don't so we ate at Jubelt's next door. Jubelt's serves breakfast all day apparently. I had a spinach, provolone and mushroom omelet. It was made with thin egg, which I like, so it was OK. The sausage patties were very commercial rounds, slightly spicy but over fried. Ms T had eggs and bacon and said the bacon was over fried as well and not the best she has had. The biscuits were doughy, not flaky. Since this is a bakery, they were probably home made, just not very well. This is a local place for typical breakfast, full of retirees killing time. Service was very good. Even though Jubelt's apparently has 2-3 stores, it is not a true chain and I would probably still come here versus a Denny's or I-Hop for example. Jubelt's has just moved a little past the charming local joint and quality suffered somewhat. Or else they expanded to serving breakfast, having started as a bakery. We bought two rugelach to go and they were not stellar either.

Stopped for breakfast here on our way from St. Louis to Chicago, and we all loved it!! The staff was super nice, and they had a surprisingly eclectic menu. I had an oatmeal that had blueberries, walnuts and dried cranberries with brown sugar on the side. Also a small order of biscuits and gravy (Which for a small was huge! There was a medium and large order too, I'm curious how big those are!) Everything was really good. I ordered a chai tea at the last minute, and that was delicious!!! Just a charming little place. I would most definitely eat there again!

Worth a stop if you are passing by and want to skip the chain restaurants. We were there at Christmas time and the place was certainly festive. The menu seemed really amazing but the dishes were a bit lack luster. We had one breakfast dish, eggs and everything as you would expect, but the biscuits and gravy were a bit bland. And we had a lunch item, the sandwich was alright a bit greasey. Was expecting a three blend grilled cheese with bacon, but it appeared and tasted just like American Cheese. The bakery items, however, looked and tasted fabulous. Took a box of assorted Christmas cookies to go as well. Would certainly stop again, but probably try something different.

Jubelt's is my favorite restaurant in Litchfield. It has a very thorough menu and the prices are very reasonable. I have always had great food and great service here. All of their bakery products are to die for!

Solid diner along Rt. 66. Decent food, coffee, exactly what you'd expect from a diner. Might upgrade to 4 stars if I eat what looked to be delicious baked treats!

Jubelt's came highly recommended to me by various family members. This review is strictly for breakfast in the cafe. I ordered the #6 combo which was two eggs, two sausage patties, hash browns and small order of biscuits and gravy for $6.59. It sure sounded like a lot of food on paper, but I thought the portions were on the average side. While the food was warm, it was bland tasting. I was glad to sit down for breakfast after four hours on the road, but I guess I was just expecting more.

With restaurant only 1/3 full they were too busy to wait on me. Two different servers said they would be right with me. Left after 15 min. Went to different (busier) place up the road and got served immediately.

Pastries are great; LOVE the apricot danish. Breakfast is good, but food could be warmer. Prices are reasonable. Service is a stick in the eye! If you aren't a regular, plan on being ignored until you actually manage to catch one of the ladies walking by....then they act surprised that you haven't been waited on! Guess I needed another stick in the eye because we stopped at Jubelt's Tuesday, 11/4, for lunch. They have a large sign, strategically placed to block the vision of anyone working the cash register, that says please wait to be seated. So we waited, shuffled out of customer's way, waited, shuffled out of waitresses' way, waited, waited, waited....gave up and left. Folks, if you only want to serve your regular, everyday customers, then add that to your sign! We won't try to eat here again -- I'll stop for pastries to go, but not to sit down. Too bad as your food is pretty good.

Great family place with good comfort foods and a friendly staff. Worth driving 1 block over. Oh, and of course, we added to the bill by taking a few things home.

I love this classic diner. I stop here whenever I'm passing through, for a club sandwich, a salad, quiche, breakfast any time. The service is excellent and the food is great. It's nothing fancy but it's quality and good hearty classic diner food. They've got a big menu and make everything themselves. I'm not a fan of their cookies but they have a full bake case of homemade everything, plus candied popcorn. It's worth a visit!

I heard a lot of good things about this place so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the philly steak and cheese torpedo, it was pretty good, except for the fact that they used cheese wiz on it. After, we got a Mississippi mud cake to go. When I ate it it tasted burnt and was very dry. For the place being a bakery I was not impressed

We ordered belgian waffles which were good. Coffee was very watery, but the service was attentive. The atmosphere is pure Route 66. On the way out we ordered some doughnuts. The sour cream doughnuts were stellar. Pies and bread looked great too, though I haven't tried them yet. It's a great place with a cool old-time atmosphere.

Was planning on eating across the street but they were closed. We were not disappointed I ordered a hamburger and I have never had a bakery bun in a restaurant...so good! The service was wonderful and listening to the older locals conversation over coffee was a treat.

Full lunch menu plus bakery sweets available. Ordered the chili which was lukewarm and very bland. Also had a burger which was definitely homemade. Girlfriend had burger with steak fries, which she liked. The bakery looked very good, but we came for lunch. Will definitely come back and try other menu items.

I hadn't been to one in years, and apparently the one in Springfield closed. lol So, I went here, and tried their cookies. Cookies = beautiful presentation and they taste great too. I had a Route 66 iced sugar cookie, and their nut horn (it was addicting!) Prices = reasonable. Parking = easy enough. I don't know anything about their food/restaurant portion, as we were only here to take home some cookies.

They've been open since 1922 so you know they have to be doing something right. They have great food and a nice little bakery as well. Be sure to try a Route 66 soda. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

Yummy fun local. This is a local favorite restaurant that I was introduced to on a recent trip to Litchfield, IL. The large restaurant has a bakery attached to it and many of the goods are available to take home. The traditional breakfast is a healthy serving of heart attack on a plate favorites. The waffles with fresh jam looked delicious. We tried to stay healthy and order a salad. Even the salads are healthy portion. This location is friendly and slow and fun to go to with a group.

Looks like a dicey fast food joint from the outside, but the food is surprisingly excellent. Grilled chicken on pretzel bread was moist and tender. Don't know if they make the bread in house, but it was perfect. Friendly staff. Great selection of bakery items too

We were in Litchfield from Chicago and I am giving them 5 stars! We really had no idea where to eat as we were in a motel in like a mall area. This place was GREAT! Nice service and the food was actually incredible! I had pancakes and they were maybe teh best pancakes I have had in a while. I know you are thinking, pancakes are pancakes. But no, these were incredible. The bacon was just a little to crispy, but, yeah, most people DO like it crispy! I did a sort of poll on facebook.

My Mom is from Hillsboro and we were in town to visit family and attend Old Settlers. We came in three times during our visit-once just to pick up donuts, and twice for a sit down breakfast. Our waitress was nice-the locals definitely know when you are not local. The donuts are tasty and coming from the east coast the price is reasonable on everything. Breakfast all day. Have been here for lunch but it was a long time ago. I even bought a shirt!
