Love this place. Traveled back from Boca Raton and ordered my favorite...schezwan green beans and the Mongolian beef dish and it was just as great even after 3 years of being away! Great food...Great service. Highly recommend

Love this restaurant! The people who work there buy all their ingredients fresh early in the morning and deliver yummy food. This is, personally, my favorite Chinese restaurant. They also sell the best tea and cutest jewelry that I've ever seen/purchased at a restaurant.

This is basically really bland dumbed down Americanized Chinese food. It was pretty bad. Chopsticks (the next strip mall over) is not the best, but certainly better then this.

Walked to Red Sun as my car was being worked on next door. Stood outside for 15 minutes after they were supposed to open and there wasn't even a light on. "Order online" posters everywhere. Glad I didn't do that. Went elsewhere. Shame on me for giving this place a second chance. And since i can't find my first review of this place... The first time I ordered from this place two years prior, I spent $60 for delivery that took 1.5 hours to get to me. The food was cold, which is an accomplishment for packed up Chinese food, and they shorted me an order of crab rangoon. I called to see what gives and was told that "she" (you'll know who she is by her scowl and terrible customer service skills) specifically remembered putting the rangoon in the bag. I told her she was mistaken and she would not redeliver the rangoon. I went to pick it up and she accused me of being a liar and made a scene in front of waiting customers. Unreal. Again, shame on me for giving this place a second chance. Some things never change.

We used to visit Red Sun at least twice a month. Tonight after picking up my order I realized I was missing one entree after getting home. I went back and was accused of lying. The woman demanded I go home and bring back the order so she could see that the entree was missing. I did so...when I returned they had found the entree and offered it to me. I returned all the food and asked for a refund. What terrible customer service over the price of one entree - to accuse the customer of trying to cheat them out of one entree! I will never return to Red Sun.

This place serves up good American Chinese food. Although it has some seating it is somewhat limited and in someways is it almost self serve since the wait staff is concentrating more on the take out orders. The food is good and it comes up quickly. But if your looking for a dine in type of place, Red Sun is not the place to go and you would be better off going to Chop Sticks just down the road.

Okay. Again the inside is okay and in need of a paint job but who cares really. Most people carry out food anyway. What really matters is that this place has good food. Their egg rolls are seriously meaty and tasty. Their fried rice has the perfect texture, is not greasy, and is loaded with what ever meat you choose. I just ate left over lunch special of beef and broccoli. A real delight. Their beef is sliced thick and amazingly tender for as thick as it is cut. I've had nasty beef from places like Long Feng that are chewy/nasty. Prices are fair. Service is okay and it appears to be a family owned place which means they have my support as a local business. They have great Singapore noodles too! My only knock is their hours. I wish they opened at 11 am lunch instead of 1130.

This place does not even deserve one star. After waiting nearly 2 hours for a delivery that we were told would be an hour, we didn't even get the right food and they forgot the rice. After calling several times to find out how much longer it would be and again after we found out it was wrong, the staff did nothing. Save yourself the hassle and eat somewhere se.

The food is always good. The portions are large. I had gotten the orange chicken, beef and broccoli, house fried rice and egg rolls. It was very good.

Worst service EVER!!! Ordered food online and picked ASAP for delivery. BIG mistake they feel ASAP is at their earliest convenience not the customers. They told me when I called, at a 1hr wait time, that orders that are called in go out first and that I picked ASAP so it goes out when the rush dies down. They told me it will take another 45 minutes or so because they need to make my order. What? How is that ASAP? Never ordering from them again. Going to use chopstix from now on. Total wait time was 1hour 49minutes.

Worst Chinese food I have ever had. My 3 sons and I literally took one bite and proceeded to throw $40.00 worth of what they call food in the garbage. Do yourself a favor and go to Chopstix.

Ordered the food online and picked ASAP pickup. My husband was there only 15 minutes later picking up some of the best Chinese food I have had in a long time! He loved the Szechwan chicken, and I loved my chicken and shrimp with veggies. The sauce was great. I was hoping it would be good since the prices were a little higher. Worth the money!!

I stopped going here about a year ago. I don't know what changed, but I no longer feel that this is the best place in area. We changed because the food seemed a bit too salty (and I am one who loves salt so when I say too salty you know it's salty. My guess with this place is an overload of MSG). On some occasions the dishes also didn't seem all that fresh or was on the bland side. It doesn't help that they increased the delivery fee and made a strong point to mention the extra charge every time I ordered. They should just stop delivering to the Fox Lake Hills area if it's really that big of a deal! I never complained about the extra charge and used to order frequently too! Szechwan Palace in Antioch is a significantly better option now!

First, I would agree with some of the other reviews that this is probably one of the best options around for local Chinese take-out because the food is fresh and the portions are large. Strictly from a taste standpoint however, I would say their dishes are only marginally better than the rest in the Gurnee,/Lindenhurst/Grayslake area. I realize different strokes for different folks, but having eaten at great Chinese places in Chicago, SF and Hong Kong, I know of no other standards to go by. Would I go back again in a pinch? Sure...but you might have to pinch me hard.

Ok I tried this place twice and it really is terrible, it's been a while since we've been there but no way does this place deserve 5 stars. Maybe somthing has changed since than but I'm not trying it again. The food did not tase good at all and was not fresh. I usually don't like to leave a negative review but when I saw this place had 5 stars I had to leave a comment.....

This is a great chinese restaurant because the quality is good, the portions are huge and the prices are low. We (4 diners total) ordered General Tso's Chicken, Pork Lo Mein, Chicken Chop Sewey, Egg Foo Young, and Mongolian Beef and the total price was only $40.63! They even gave us 2 huge boxes of white rice for free. All the other Chinese places in the Gurnee/Lake Villa area would have cost at least $10 per entree so I was pleasantly surprised with this experience. I highly recommend this place and will be back there very soon.

Red Sun was incredible! They accomodated my needs outside of their regular delivery hours so I could send food to a friend for their birthday. They made sure everything was done to perfection, and went well above and beyond for me. Thank you so much for all of your efforts!!

Dishes are generally good as far as taste. Sometimes meat is over cooked. However for delivering they get 4 stars.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
