It has been 3 years since my wedding, and yes this catering company still gets under my skin. My husband and I chose Food for Thought to cater our wedding at the Kenilworth Club. As soon as we signed the contract, it turned into a NIGHTMARE! Our sales consultant Mary B. became difficult to work with, communication was lacking. After 3 years, I am not sure if she is still working for FFT. Using this catering company was the only thing I regretted about the wedding (Even after 3 years of marriage ;)) Cake is always my favorite part of a wedding. My wedding cake was not catered through FFT, but was ruined by them when they decided to serve it with a very tart lemon sauce. #1 The cake was not catered with FFT. It was never discussed with me or my husband or my pastry chef that we would add anything to the cake, #2 I hate tart things, #3 lemon does not go well with chocolate at all. Unsurprisingly you could see it across the room, many of our guests left the cake untouched, it was too tart. very very disappointing The food on the day of the wedding was mediocre, not as impressive as what was presented to us at the tasting. Food was made in advanced and only preheated in the Keniltworth kitchen, not cooked on site. Throughout the whole process, I spoke to Mary on the phone a total of 2 times, both calls were initiated by me. She never called us with any questions or suggestions. This became a huge problem because we quickly found out that instead of bringing her concerns to us (her clients) she overstepped us and brought her concerns directly to our other vendors. My husband and I decided to rent an ice cream truck for our wedding with permission from the director of Kenliworth Club months in advanced. The week before the wedding, we received an email from the Director saying that she could no longer allow the ice cream truck, based on a conversation she had with Mary they thought it would disturb the neighbors. I was shocked, because Mary did not address any of her concerns with us and the ice cream truck was rented through a third party (not through FFT). To change your mind a week before the wedding?? Can you imagine how much stress this adds after everything has been booked??? My only suspicion is that Mary was upset that we decided to go with an ice cream truck instead of using FFT to set up a sundae bar. Just wait it gets better. Months in advanced, my husband and I applied for a permit to reserve Kenilworth Beach for our ceremony. We knew that it would be a quick ceremony so we had the beach reserved for 2 hours. We hired FFT to rent and deliver the ceremony chairs. 2 days before the wedding, my husband received a call from the association asking for more money because our caterer requested more time. Again, shocker to us because this was the first time we heard she wanted more time. Mary never discussed a plan with us and how long the ceremony would take, she never mentioned a concern about time. Fast forward to the day of the wedding, its 30 mins before the ceremony and the chairs still had not arrived . We paid for extra (nonrefundable) time which was not needed, and as an added bonus we got more stress on our wedding day. The day of the wedding it was tense, but I remained non-confrontational because it was my wedding and I did not want to ruin the moment. After the wedding, I wrote Mary an email with my concerns in hopes that they will take those suggestions to help future customers. Mary called me a few days later in response to my email and she was apologetic. She admitted to me that she did not try the lemon sauce before they put it on the cake. I appreciated the effort but her apology did not feel sincere, some of her reasons she gave did not make sense. What it boils down to is sales is her job, it benefits her to network with the Director of the club and the Association, they are the people who will bring her new clients. I on the other hand will only be getting married once. Based on this experience, I will not be doing business with FFT again and I would not recommend them to friends.
UPDATE: I shared my feedback (from original review below) to their corporate website contact form and was pleasantly surprised by their response! Going from 3 to 5 stars here for excellent customer service/response. Within a few hours, corporate had passed the feedback on to the head chef at our location and he called me and addressed every concern, point for point. A sandwich that's been really funky lately was fixed, he addressed the customer service issue, etc. Their temps at our location aren't great but that's sort of the nature of temps... overall their food is great and I give them 2 thumbs up for customer service!! FFT provides food services at our office building in Deerfield and while the food is quite good, the service is terribly inconsistent. They have some great chefs/line cooks but seem to be struggling with staffing because the temps that fill in pretty often have consistently been terrible. We also have a cashier who has been there for quite a while and is consistently rude to customers and her coworkers. The food is good, despite being a bit over-priced, but I'm not always all that excited about interacting with their staff... I would opt to eat out much less often and go for the FFT-operated cafe if they made some staffing improvements. The head chef (not sure of his name), Gerald (line cook), and a young woman who's recently been on sandwiches during lunch have all been wonderful - cashier and temps not so much.
We're so glad we picked Food for Thought to cater our "post-elopement" party! Since the celebration we've continued to receive compliments on all the tasty food, snacks and service. Mary worked with us every step of the way to help us come up with a menu that wowed our friends and family and fit our budget. Mary didn't flinch when we told her we'd need to provide options for our vegetarian guests and several guests who can't eat foods with gluten. When we came to Food for Thought's facility for a tasting we were blown away by the food, service and professionalism. In the run-up to the event itself, Food for Thought coordinated with the vendor for drinks and the venue to make sure that everything ran smoothly. Their work paid off brilliantly. If we had to offer any criticism, there were a few moments during the party when we could have used some extra attention from the wait staff to make sure that we were getting food and drinks, but since this was an informal event it was probably hard to keep an eye on who the "bride" and "groom" were. With that said, we wouldn't hesitate to go with Food for Thought if we had to make the choice all over again, and we recommend them enthusiastically!

Every single time we eat here, I ask myself "Why don't I come here more often?" The food is amazingly delicious and the service is always great. I love that they start you off with a hot towel. It can get crowded on weekends - to avoid, arrive either around 5 or after 8. They do take reservations so if you're coming during peak times, call ahead. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained. Decor is dated and the building is non-descript so you might miss it! They've been on Chicago's Best for their sushi so be sure to try it!
If you are looking for authentic sushi without all the frills and snobbery surrounding some sushi restaurants, no need to look further. The fish is always fresh and delicious at this casual restaurant. I normally go for the maki rolls, but I've tried other items on the menu. Personally, I would stick with the sushi even though other plates are delicious. You will not get a fresher or better spicy tuna roll anywhere else. The staff is also super friendly and accommodating. Love, love, love this place!
More sushi, less rice, nice amount of wasabi under the sashimi. 5 Stars, Hisao (owner) is a nice guy who adds more of a family touch to the business. He carefully watch every table from the front of the sushi bar to make sure that all customers are happily eating. Finally, he also sincerely thanks everyone in his native language, which is very uncommon for many restaurants as your rarely even get to meet with their owners. Tip: try eating sushi with your fingers after cleaning them with the hot towel provided.

Not 5* just because they wouldn't offer any veggies with the chicken strips. So i got the salat with chicken... Where the chicken was so amazingly moist, seasoned and just delish! Good fries as well! ;)
Meatheads blows the (sorta) nearby Five Guys out of the water. They do what they do well. Great burgers, sandwiches and fries. Being able to get a Wedge salad is a plus at a "burger place" The place is clean, the staff is well trained and attentive to the customer . This site is unusual for a Meatheads location as it is freestanding and not in a strip mall. They did a great job with the building and the decor.
We were very excited to see a place like this open close by. The decoration is nice, staff friendly. Fries delicious. Big problem is the buns fall right apart making the burgers and chicken sandwiches messy. New buns would be a huge bonus.

I enjoyed my meal so much that I left in a food coma. Luckily, I wasn't driving because I passed out literally in the car on the way home. My boyfriend took me here for Valentines Day. The place was crowed. We were sat at a table in the way way back. I liked the table because it was larger than normal for two people. I ordered salad, steak and baked potato. They bring out free bread and butter. I ate that and had the Planters punch cocktail while waiting. The side salad was very large, and nice and fresh. I cannot complain. The steak was good and the baked potato was normal. I was very full and satisfied. I had heard the key lime pie was to die for so I took a piece home. I ate it for breakfast the next morning. IT was delish! I hope to go back sometime soon.
Came here for my dad's birthday and thought the theme was a little strange. I'm Illinois born and bred, but Wisconsin supper clubs are hardly some exotic concept, so I thought the whole idea was a little silly. That being said, we all enjoyed our visit. Our server was friendly and even brought us a complementary flatbread to welcome us "into the club." That was a very nice touch and it tasted good to boot. We all shared the onion strings, which were pretty standard. However, the french onion soup (sensing a theme here?) was excellent. It has a different taste than most- sweeter, but it works. Since we came on a Sunday, half of the table tried the weekly fried chicken special. They didn't see what all the fuss was about. I had the ribs and they were good, but not anything past that. However, the macaroni and cheese side is the best mac n' cheese I've ever had. Period. I cannot recommend it enough. For dessert we were a little ambitious and ordered both the apple strudel and gooey chocolate cake. The strudel was hard as a rock. Seriously, we all had to use our knifes like saws just to get a bit. Fortunately, the cake made up for it. All in all I'm glad to have come here, but except the mac and cheese, there are better places to be found.
I brought my mom here for lunch last week. They were busy but we were served quickly. She had fish, large piece, loved it. I had a chopped salad, asked for different dressing than listed on menu, no problem. Salad was huge, crisp, nicely presented. Lots of leftovers my mom took home. Recommended.

Haagen Dazs has delicious ice cream but it is sometimes expensive. By sometimes, I mean the NAVY PIER Haagen Dazs. Ridiculous prices. This Haagen Dazs is comparable to Baskin Robbins (or is it 31 Flavors??? Same thing) in price but in flavor-- no comparison. Also, customer service is great! Only downside is the mall they're in isn't *that* great. It used to be in it's heydey, but since Fluky's left it's been struggling. I think it's working it's way back up there, and I go there for three things, Charlotte Russe, Kohls, and Haagen Dazs!!! In the neighborhood, with the free lot parking, it's worth it to go to the mall just to get some yummy ice cream. I think the last time I was there they also had Caribou Coffee. I don't know what that lady is talking about with her review about napkins though... every time I've been there the napkins were on the counter in a dispenser. Why ask someone for them???
I've been going here since like 2004, I got hooked since the 1st time I had their chocolate Belgian shake. They mainly have young high school kids working here and they're like always changing them, so I guess they all make it differently -- but the problem js that lately (for about a year now) it feels like the shake has lost some of it's magnificent taste, so I've actually started trying different stuff there and although it tastes good -- nothing tastes as good as the Belgian shake used to or actually even as it is now.. but yea definitely recommend their Belgian shake and the midnight dazzler isn't bad either
Haagen Dazs Lincolnwood has the best staff of any ice cream store I have ever been to. They are always clean (never have I ever seen Roaches in the 5+ years I have been going there) and friendly. I have been going there for years for my favorite Dulce De Leche Dazzeler (a MUST try). Its the best!! They tend to get crowded at times (like during the holidays) but I promise the service and ice cream is worth the wait. I have recommended them to all my friends and family. They have even catered my sons graduation party (40 high school kids) serving ice cream sundaes. Haagen Dazs is a little more expensive than Baskin Robbins but its just like buying Starbucks instead of Dunkin Donuts, you are paying for a quality all natural ice cream and its WORTH EVERY PENNY!!

The food was really good! Loved the steak and the chips and salsa. Too bad their service is horrible! We had such a rude waitress. She only came to us when it was time to order, didn't even bother to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything, which we did! We asked for some drinks and she just went and brought them, we thanked her; no response/smile/acknowledgement. If she hates working there she shouldn't be there making the business look bad! Even after tipping her she did not bother to say thank you. HOW RUDE!
Wonderful discovery! Delicious fresh salsas and chips (and a little bowl of queso dip, too). The food was plated so nicely and the service was just right. I had chicken flautas and my friend had huaraches. Both delicious and perfectly seasoned. Rice and beans were good. No complaints here and the perfect excuse to run errands on Touhy.
Amazing. You'd miss the place if you weren't looking for it, but LOOK for it because they're the best mexican around. The tacos are always amazing and the salsas are always made fresh. I'm always afraid this place will become super popular and I won't be able to get a table........

What a great memory; coming here after 20 plus years! Food was great! Order the hot dogs or hamburgers for a great experience. Fries are great too! Check out the fantastic ice cream at oberweis across the street afterwards!
What a fun course!!! Brings me back to being a kid, with all the windmills, and fun kitchy decor.
I came in for a burger, it was ok but really messy and the fries weren't fully cooked. I'm not sure where the red hot ranch rumor came from because the burger here is nowhere near red hot ranch's level. If you're hungry and in the area, I recommend you look elsewhere.

I highly recommend Whistler's restaurant. The food is great! The staff is so friendly and welcoming that they create such a great environment for the restaurant. You can tell they want to be there and serve their guests with such great attitudes. The two owners Sophie and Chris and their daughters who help out are so kind. I always bring family and friends here whether it's for breakfast or a late meal considering the place is 24 hours. Awesome food awesome service what more can you ask?!
Chicago - my beloved roots, my home, my grandeur. Going to Whistler's on Sunday and ordering the Cream of Chicken soup is still stuck in my head. The fresh bread served upon arrival is always welcoming. The decor is nothing that would make you say "ohhh la la", but it is cozy. Great for lunch with the friends and family.
Over priced, the food was bland and the service just as bland.
