I am so happy to have found this place! I've been driving all the way to Alsip (Taco Burrito King) to get tacos and I don't have to anymore! My steak and picadillo tacos came out to 2.19 a piece which is more than fair for how much meat they give you. I had steak falling out of both sides of the tacos and it was seasoned really well. The picadillo is like the tender, well-seasoned stuff I make at home and I was really pleased with it too. I'm from the south side so I don't mind the hand-written paper menus on the wall. There isn't much space inside but enough for a few people to sit and wait for their orders. Be sure to ask if you want something you don't see written on the menu, the cashier is really sweet!

One of the best Mexican spots in the area. The tacos and burritos are great and the price is good as well. The restaurant isn't much to look at but the food is beautiful

This place wins the award for largest burrito... ever! I ordered a chicken burrito, it weighs like a pound and a half; I'm not joking. Keep in mind, I've been to Mexico!... still, this is the biggest ever. You could feed like 3 children/ 2 adults on one burrito. Taste: Good burrito, the chicken had good taste, was moist, etc. Ambiance: I think the family lives on the other side of the partition. The restaurant is just a small waiting area with some bar stools. The signs are all hand drawn. Pretty basic. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because it is a must to order ahead of time, and then come and pick the food up. That or sit and wait inside your car... especially in wintertime. I walked in and ordered my burrito and had to wait... like 20 minutes. No joke. Recap: You can get a great meal for a very reasonable price. Don't plan to sit down and eat. Order ahead.

Idk about the other "reviewer" but my experience is quite the opposite. I recently moved to the area and several months later, El Rey Del Taco opened up. I live with my wife and we just had a baby and with this take-out place being right around the corner, it's a no brainer to pick something up quick when we're short on time. I'm Latino so I assume my judgement in Mexican food means something to the community. It's good. There's a restaurant almost equal distance from my house as El Rey Del Taco called Burrito Express, but this place is more or a dine in and is a little more expensive but it's just as good. El Rey Del Taco offers daily specials like $1 tacos, which is awesome if you ask me seeing that the price of everything is going up and avg. price nowadays is around $2 per taco. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind paying $2-3 for a taco if it was amazing and fully loaded. This place sells various tacos that are on special that day for only $1! Seriously? Even at regular price they're reasonable.. I forgot how much they are but maybe like $1.50 or somewhere along those lines.. AND they are FILLED! The best example I can give of the tortilla with meat in it is it resemble the letter "U" flared out alittle more. They're fat, believe me. Check it out, I wouldn't waste my time writing this review if I truly didn't believed this place deserved the chance for your business. I like it, my wife loves it and i'm sure plenty more ppl do too.. It's unfortunate "Glenn" had a bad experience but I don't think he had to run on Yelp and dog this restaurant out the first chance he got.. If you notice, I gave four stars. The reason is because I went there once when they first opened and I ordered a burrito like "Glenn" did. It was shut well unlike his but the only issue I had was that it was too greasy. And I hate that... I told my wife I'd never order the burrito again but a few months later, I did the unthinkable and ordered a burrito instead of the regular Carne Asada tacos... :O IT WAS AMAZING! I wrote four paragraphs and I never mentioned my bad experience because they made up for it. It's a new business. Give them a chance. I have my own business and if I make a mistake, I acknowledge that. I, like this restaurant, make my money from happy and satisfied clients. These become repeat customers. Repeated business. And they have ours. - Jack

Lower your expectations as far down as you can, and this place will far exceed them. This place is pretty much a dump, but the food is outstanding. I've had almost every taco they make and have never been disappointed. The tacos are filled with fresh, delicious meat, and are a great deal. All food seems fresh and is clearly made to order, so after you check their menu, you might want to call your order in ahead of time.

First, get my order right. A Burrito, hold the sour cream, hold the onions, doesn't mean I want a burrito with sour cream and onions. Also, try wrapping the 2 pounder, instead of just folding the tortilla over it and cutting a slit in the top. This monster was a foot long and bent when lifted. My lap got most of it. Drive past this one.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
