I have to say, someone like me, who loves the taste of coffee, I just love this place. The lobby is nice and clean. The customer service I received was excellent, if only I could have caught the workers name because he was so welcoming. Also I like the option on using almond milk, since I am not able to drink regular milk myself. I highly recommend going if you are near one, as I will be going back to one when I get a chance.

I like Peet's coffee and espresso a lot choose them over other "corporate" brands when I have the opportunity. This store is nice enough but does have a rather sterile feel. Perhaps it's the hard tile, high ceiling and all the glass looking out over the parking lot. When I go I look forward to the coffee but not so much to spending time in the cafe.

All the reasons I liked Caribou, are the reasons I don't like this place. Caribou was always cozier than Starbucks, and this place makes Starbucks way more appealing. Hard surfaces, tables and chairs without a cushion in sight. My espresso was about 30% more than at Starbucks too. First time I walked in, I just turned around and walked out. This time I forced myself to give them a fair try. Not a cozy place to hang out.

Peet's, a California based chain, entered the Illinois coffee market when Minnesota based Caribou Coffee pulled out of it. Caribou Coffees across the state shut down permanently or were converted into Peet's. The Long Grove location was originally a Caribou. To date, there are 13 stores in Illinois. Honestly, it's a shame that Peet's couldn't bring some of the warm, sunny and beautiful California weather with it when it entered the coffee market. But, I suppose a nice warm beverage is a nice consolidation and an acceptable way to beat the frigid weather. Haha, yeah right. *scoffs and scowls* The interior of Peet's is predominately wood, which gives it a warm feel. The shop is clean and open. There aren't many displays or extra clutter scattered about the shop. There are some displays where you can purchase packaged goods, tea and coffee. I definitely agree with Amy S. about how a fireplace would give it more homey feel. There's a large table in front of the bar where you pick up your drinks. It's a good place to meet with a big group of people. Also, the chairs are a lightweight aluminum, which is a neat touch. As far as the drinks go, I've only sampled the Peppermint Mocha. I had it once with soy milk and once with almond milk since they ran out of soy. I definitely preferred it with soy milk, but it wasn't terrible with almond milk. The drinks were made perfectly. A strong taste of coffee came through and the peppermint flavoring wasn't too artificial. I also liked the foam art on top of my drink. The only downside was that my drink was expensive. It cost just a little over $5 with tax. But, that's what you get for choosing a milk alternative. My fiancé got a triple espresso both times. He adds sugar or simple syrup since it's a bit too bitter to consume on its own. He hasn't really seen triple espresso anywhere, so he enjoyed that. I have yet to sample any of the food despite a pastry case filled with tempting options. I purchased a package of Peppermint Bark. It looked so good and I just *had* to have it. Service wise, all the staff members we've interacted with have been very friendly and more than willing to help if we needed it. This location also has a drive thru, which is convenient. Oh, and to me, their holiday cups are far prettier than that red cup from a chain who shall not be named. Pretty holiday cups does make the winter a bit more enjoyable, if I do say so myself. Overall, Peet's is a good replacement for Caribou. I can't say for sure if it's better, but so far, it's pretty good. We've had two good visits, and I've got no complaints. I'm sure we'll be back in the future.

This is my third time here at Peet's. The people are awesome and their coffee and tea is amazing. I really appreciate that they serve it in front of you and give you great recommendations if you haven't tried something on the menu before. Peet's beats Starbucks FOR SURE in my opinion. My absolute favorite is the Soy Matcha Latte with Vanilla, although I haven't tried much yet. The ambience is very chill, with an open concept. I have nothing negative to say about this place! Bonus: it's two minutes from my house. And the music selection is on point.

4196-A address of store.... sadly are riding on the laurels of a name. I wanted a black large medium roast coffee; 4:30 pm on Saturday afternoon. Came upon the dregs of a spent pot and had to wait for a new pot to brew. One of the three Fakistas (fake barista) kept chatting with some gal at the closest open large table who had her 3x5 cards arranged in some utopian piles of whatever.... 15 mins later I had to ask for my simple non fu-fu coffee. I just wanted a large black no-room coffee. One of the three Fakistas methodically put together why I'm asking for my large cup of coffee.... The first chatty Fakistas didn't bother to stop chatting long enough to finish my order.... My other half of the order was not completed as well; simply a macaroon in a bag... The third Fakista completed the order with no apologies that "gee Mr. Customer, so sorry our service sucked and you had to wait sooooo long" That was service... The new air and appearance of the store was geared toward an Internet cafe wannabe. No comfy chairs to sit in like the old tenant had, Caribou. Neither was greeted in the friendly manner I had become accustomed to by the friendly staff Caribou Coffee offered. Good luck with your order.

You cannot fault the folks that work here for what a German investment group has done with Caribou Coffee and Peet's Coffee and Tea. This Peet's Coffee and Tea has taken the place of a former Caribou Coffee that invaded us from MN and bringing us the SF Bay Area Peet's to IL. This former Caribou location was a little over a year old before German investment group Jon A. Benckiser decided to switch all Caribou Coffee locations outside of MN, CO, ND, SD, NC, IA, and KS to Peet's Coffee and Tea in the summer of 2014. With Peet's now at this location, the space has opened up with Peet's decor filling the entire space. Gone the signs of any Caribou crossings, fireplace, and Caribou Coffee Blends. The beige tan walls cover the space with pictures of older Peet's Coffee and Tea locations when it was owned by founder Alfred Peet. Coffees are similar to Caribou Coffee in terms of acid and bitterness levels. Teas are Peet's blends however Mighty Leaf Teas has started to show since Peet's has acquired them in August 2014. There are more tables since Caribou because the fireplace was taken out however the space could easily fit more table and chairs. Folks working here are the same folks that ran Caribou Coffee which is great to see as their service is stellar. I even seen them coming around asking if anyone wanted refills on any drip coffee. Something that Caribou Coffee always offered but you just had to ask. Food has expanded to have more sandwiches and breakfast options. So far so good Peet's. I am still bitter to see Caribou go but hopefully we will see some of the traditional Caribou blends come over as well as more Mighty Leaf Teas. Food - 5 Décor - 4 Service - 5

My first impressions of Peet's: 6:45 pm. I am the only one in here. Noise. Sound level right now seems beyond the usual loudness of a coffee shop. a) Continual gratuitous banging of various metal surfaces and appliances behind the counter. b) Screeching christmas music blasting out of tinny speakers. Not delightful. Frightful. Workplace. Manager guy's body language, etc. and is clearly that of a boss. Pointing, jarring loud voice, constant giving of direction. While relaxing with a warm beverage after a long week, I don't want to feel like I'm at someone's workplace. I've found that the most pleasant retail experiences are those where I'm not aware of the staff heirarchy. "That said," my first beverage ever at a Peet's was perfect. Chai tea latte made with almond milk. Yum. The fact that Peet's offers almond milk as a dairy alternative (most coffee places use the cheaper and less tasty soy milk) will have me coming back ...after the holidays.

I really like this place! The staff is super friendly and they are always playing my favorite music (indie rock, yaaaa!). The coffee is pretty good and they have occasional tea tastings. I am in super study mode so I am turning into a regular customer here. I do wish there was a fireplace or something to make it feel more homey, maybe books or board games would do that too. But the furniture is mostly wood, which does create a warmer ambiance.

I don't know what to rate this place or what to say... I am a religious Starbucks drinker. I'm a coffee enthusiast. But I decided to give Peet's a try. It was fall so I got the maple latte. Let me tell you it was one of the best things I've ever drank and I've gone back again and again. However my low rating is for the service. The staff just seem bored with their lives and that doesn't bother me. But coffee is my lifeblood, and your blah'ness bums me out. Also, 7-9 minutes of sitting in a drive through for a latte is too long... Eh. If you can overlook the service the drinks are worth it.

Nice little coffee shop. Dark wood come and bring laptop and surf the Internet . Nice switch from other coffee shops. I especially like the dark roast. Have a nice array of sweetness and creamers. They have a patio for Illinois temperamental weather.

I've been here a couple times recently, and I must say, I've really enjoyed my experience! I can't say that about all of the Peet's I've been to, so this was a pleasant surprise! I've had the same barista both times, and she was sweet and personable. My favorite drink is the Black Tie, and it's been consistently delicious. I was informed that they can make it two ways, the "regular" way and then the way that includes darker, heavier-caffeinated coffee - I prefer the regular way. (I've also never heard that at any other Peet's, so thanks!) The patio is a nice place to relax for a bit, too. :)

Peet's coffee is my new favorite! Try the "Black Tie" (cold brew with chicory coffee & condensed milk). The "salted caramel white chocolate mocha" is delicious as well when you're in the mood for a hot beverage.

UPDATE 7-21-15: I was charged twice for our buy one get one free drink and our seven layer bar. Our $10.22 order has now turned into a $20.22 order. This past Saturday 7-18-15 I called to speak to a manager/shift supervisor and was connected with Alan. Alan didn't seem too sure of what he was doing and kept reading back my phone number and name wrong after I had to correct him multiple times. He was supposed to call me back Sunday 7-19-15 and of course never received a call from him. I was hoping he would've communicated to a manager the issue and received a call yesterday, but no call back. I'm extremely disappointed as I really enjoyed their coffee, but don't enjoy the fiasco now of having to call around now about refunding us the extra charge. Unfortunately, I'll be contacting their corporate office today to hopefully get compensated for the overcharge. Peet's Coffee, I don't know where you came from, but I'm impressed to say the least! As luck would have it they were at a dog event located at our dog park serving iced green tea. Along with tea they provided coupons buy one get one free on their coffee/drinks. We had to head over to Bently's for dog food after this event so figured we would go to Peet's before getting the pet food right next door. We wanted to put our coupon to good use! The employees were kind and provided excellent customer service! The staff even offered to bring our drinks outside to us because our dog was with us. What service! While waiting for our drinks to be made my husband surprised me with a seven layer dream bar. That bar tasted AMAZING and is perfect for chocolate lovers such as myself. I highly recommend this sweet treat! My husband ordered a maple vanilla iced coffee. I had a sip of it......WOWZA!!! It tasted like breakfast almost like pancakes or waffles served with maple syrup. So unique and different from the "OTHER" competitor!! Since I did give up caffeine months ago I ordered a blueberry pomegranate iced tea. My drink came after my husband's and the barista brought out my drink along with a little serving of whipped cream for our puppy. So impressed that puppy received his Pupacino without me having to request it. The barista apologized for the long wait. My iced tea tasted amazing and fresh with an incredible kick of flavors! The drinks may have taken a little bit longer then their competitor, but the wait for this kind of quality in coffee/drinks make it worth the wait! I'd rather my coffee/drinks turn out tasting amazing because time and care has been put into it rather then a pumping station to get customers in and out fast. I look forward to coming back to Peet's again. This place is giving the "Other" competitor a run for it's money.

Great coffee and I find it shameful that a store with such rich history is worked by lazy kids. "Alex" managed to remain too "busy" to help any customers and made the other girl do all the work. It wasn't until I spoke up after 6 minutes I was even looked at. No greeting, just asked for my order. This place will keep customer's just because it's here. Rich history, shame.
