This was my first time eating here and heard good things so I decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is very cozy and gives off an old school diner vibe. They have a descent craft beer selection which is nice. I ordered the BBQ beef brisket with fries. The fries had nice texture and were homemade not frozen however they were bland and needed some seasoning to add more flavor. The sandwich was good and all in all I was satisfied with the meal and portion size. If I am in the area again and want some BBQ I will come back.

Best food ever!!! BBQ beef sandwich was really good. Fried chicken was Excellent! ! I seen a lady say from the color of her skin is why she might of had poor service ... my boyfriend and couple friends who are a different race other than white had great service at this place.

Rude Lack of customer service. I am a new business in the area and thought I would patronize them and they were very rude and judgemental, not sure if it was dt the color of my skin. Then to ask if I worked in the area, like u were praying that I would not come back! No worries, I will not be back and neither will anyone I know. The 30ish blonde lady that was so darn rude, had no idea who she was talking too. Then to charge xtra for BBQ sauce at a darn BBQ joint is absolutely ridiculous. Where is the justice in that picture. Never again will I be there for anything.

This place is amazing! Any time we are out here working, we make sure we come here for lunch. The pulled pork, mac and cheese. Everything is on point!

Delicious food, made fresh and consistent. Love the "Hot & Dirty Fries." Veggie burger is fantastic. BBQ is well balanced and unique. Salmon Burger is also a good pick. Cupcakes, try the Key Lime, Strawberry, and/or Peanut Butter- ohh man!

Not bad for a BBQ place but certainly not the first place I would go either. If you know someone that can't have a lot of salt but wants BBQ this is the place.

Fantastic food. Best fish and chips within miles. Fast service and quality ingredients

This place has a decent selection of chili and good corn pudding. The service was excellent! Unfortunately, the BBQ feel very short. They use a strange sweet rub on the brisket and slice it as well. But if it is a cold winter day and you want a good good warm cup of chili, this is the place!

This is a small and cozy restaurant with a great bakery. I was disappointed in the bbq and the ambiance in the restaurant. At dinner time, I think there should be some policies which would prohibit groups of rowdy kids making fools of themselves and disturbing people trying to eat dinner. I am sure there are nights where there aren't distubances like we encountered but the bbq wasn't good enough for me to risk it again. But those cupcakes? Now those I would venture in and buy!

I've been here twice now. First time was ribs. They are to Die for. They are so good, I had them with no sauce. Also, the mac n' cheese is just awesome. Second time was the burger. It was good, but if you come here, go for the ribs... Lastly, the dessert selection. I found out that the owner's sister bakes Everything on this menu herself. I tried the peanut butter pie first visit, and chocolate chip cookie second visit. Both are... WOW. The only bad thing about this restaurant is their location. It seems only the locals know about it. I wish they would expand one day... :)

Awesome food! Best BBQ around for sure, and a friendly and attentive staff. The pulled pork and brisket are VERY good. The white chili is also a must try. They also make great fried and BBQ chicken, awesome salmon, and a very fresh and tasty Caesar salad. Not to mention some really great soups. The bakery is fantastic as well! The pie and cupcakes are all very good!

I am not kidding!! This place rocks!! Great BBQ and the best soups that I have ever had the joy of eating!!! Yesterday the girls and I went from work and had: Pumpkin soup (incredible, not low fat, but awesome!!!), White Chili (just finished it! Awesome), Chicken & Dumplin (better than mine, and that is good!!); Brisket, fantastic!! You all had better save some for me! Go see them today!!

I was waiting on this place to open for some time, the signs were up, they just took a minute, but it was worth it. Twisted Q is both bakery and bbq; they have a small dining in area with waitstaff, but they also have take out. Have not tried the baked goods, yet, but the Dixie Brisket sandwich was delicious. I tried it with the hot and dirty fries, which have pork and nacho cheese! Yumx2, considering how much I love fries. My friend had the Italian beef, which she said was good, just make sure you get it with the mozzerella cheese(which she forgot to add) It is right by the Homewood train station, so if you ever stop there, stop here!

This spot actually makes some serious BBQ! The Dixie Brisket Sandwich was tasty and the peanut butter pie was slammin! The catering seems to be reasonable as well. Its weird because I was just in Austin Texas and ate at a few of their more renowned BBQ spots and walked away disappointed, thinking about the multiple spots in Chicago that are so much better and lets face it, we're not exactly a BBQ destination. Anyway, Twisted Q proves my point and its good and you should check it out.

We moseyed over because we love BBQ and some friends recommended it. Not hard to find, with parking right in front. So far so good. The restaurant is small with a bakery counter, a pick up counter and some tables for eating in. There were many choices as only one other couple was eating in. We chose a table on the other side of the cozy restaurant from them. We ordered and didn't have to wait very long for our food. Right after its delivery, a loud and noisy group of young teens spilled into the place, treating it as their hangout. One person in the group ordered something and they sat immediately behind us and yelled, pushed each other, grabbed each others' phones and generally let you know why their parents didn't want them in their own homes at dinner time. We complained to our server and the owner came out and just stood there. These young people were not intimidated. We moved to the other side of the restaurant. The beans were excellent, great texture, variety and flavor. The Mac N Cheese was average, nothing spectacular. My brisket was very salty, I didn't finish it. The chicken was quite tasty, great flavor. We brought cupcakes home and the Cherry Chocolate was really delicious but I wouldn't go back. I can get better BBQ in Frankfort or LaGrange and not have undisciplined kids marking it as their territory. I believe management should have policies which would prevent such low buying customers from spoiling the atmosphere for the rest of the clientele. Too bad the twisted part was the out of control teens.

Not impressed. We've tried at least five times to like this place. Getting food poisoning after the last trip was the nail in the coffin for us to go to this place. The service is stellar. That is the only reason I'm giving the place two stars. The BBQ is okay. The sides (including potato salad, the not supposed to be hot variety) were warm. Several of us got ill. The baked goods aren't great, just okay. Not exactly sure how they stay open.

White chili is great, perfect amount of flavor and heat; ribs and sauce are delicious down to the bone, especially if you appreciate the charred bits; corn pudding is a yummy sweet and buttery side; mac and cheese is so-so. Atmosphere is cozy, great for pick up or grabbing a quick bite inside. They have a few beer selections if you're dining in. Family friendly, near the Metra in downtown Homewood.

We visited for a late lunch/early dinner. I had the Dixie Brisket Sandwich, which was smoky/tangy and a big mess to eat. Good thing there were extra napkins on the table. I did enjoy the sandwich quite a bit. I chose potato salad as a side and it was so good that I took a container home with me. Husband had the white chili which I tried and we both really enjoyed. My son had a donut and it was OK, but nothing too special. My husband had an Almond Joy cupcake that was acceptable, but not memorable. The place smelled like barbecue and the service was excellent. Bathrooms were clean, too.

Loved the smoked chicken. Sides were top-notch. Had the roasted vegetables and potato salad. Rarely like deli or restaurant potato salad but the Twisted Q recipe is outstanding. Potatoes were cooked perfectly. Companion raved about the brisket sandwich. Good service. Good prices. Going to become a regular here.

Had a great meal here last night with my husband. We live locally, and had driven past Twisted Q many times yet never stopped in. Last night we decided to change that. I had a hamburger with caramelized onions, cheddar and 'special sauce'. My husband had the Dixie Brisket Sandwich. We dined in and were both a little surprised when our meals arrived in styrofoam take-out boxes (thought it was a little unusual for sit-down customers), but once we both bit into our sandwiches we were hooked. The flavor from both my burger and my husband's brisket sandwich was out of this world. Both meals were better than anything similar we've had at higher-end restaurants. (It's so nice when you find a great new place to eat out!) Service was friendly and speedy. Prices were very reasonable, considering the quality of the meals. We were too full after our meals and didn't have a chance to try anything dessert-ish from their bakery. We will be returning here soon and intend to bring family & friends with us. BBQ this good needs to be shared.

Every once and awhile you come across a place or event that you shout out "That was incredible" I had such an experience at The Twisted Q in Homewood. It use to be a bakery but has been converted to a restaurant/bakery and an added bonus is the local entertainment. It has BBQ, pulled pork, and a great hamburger. I found my new favorite local beer, Shock Top, a honey crisp apple wheat. The service was very friendly and the owner was present and friendly. We met friends here and were treated to local music from a group called Weeds. The energy from the small local crowd added to the participation of friends from the audience. We plan to go again soon.

A BBQ place in Homewood.. Interesting. and they deliver to my office! Even better. Lets try them.... Ordered the combo meal - Baby Back ribs and half chicken. Side of Mac n Cheese. Chicken - Super moist and juicy. Well seasoned and the flavor was just right! Ribs - I thought the chicken was great and would be hard to beat - the ribs have a dry rub on them, my first chuck of ribs was an end piece, at first I thought the ribs were dry, but after getting past the end and into the meatier part of the ribs the ribs were excellent. Ribs were tasty, nice bark on them and the seasoning was just right. Between the two it would be a hard choice on which I liked better, if forced to choose, I would go with the chicken again. Mac n Cheese - Was ok, tasted like it was out of a box. Sorta bland. This is a cash only establishment and doesn't except credit cards. Delivery was fast and I will definitely order from Twisted BBQ again. Great BBQ spot in Homewood.

The bathrooms aren't clean. Which leads me to assume that kitchen isn't clean. I had the Dixie brisket with a side of Mac and cheese. Neither were tasty in my opinion. Let's just say they didn't give me reason to want to return.

Excellent BBQ! The Best up North! Excellent Food! Great Service! I highly recommend you try this place! Carrie, the server, was excellent! The owner was also present and very nice!

Pretty good...pretty pretty good. Above par ribs and pulled pork. Nice white bean chile, good sides like corn pudding. Italian beef was just so-so, so I'd stick to the BBQ related items. More of a carryout joint, interior ambience is not their strong suit.

Great food, great service and fair prices from the new southside "Q' treat. Dixie Brisket sandwich, dirty dog, in-house hand made fries, specials, etc... are wonderful. Not to mention the dessert, which are produced by French Pastry School graduate, Kelly Donohoe. Local craft beer, Argus Brewery also on tap.

It's been difficult finding great local restaurants since moving to Homewood from Chicago. Chicago is oozing with excellent food options and Lillie's Q on North Ave was my hometown BBQ spot. I put off going to Twisted Q because I was certain it would let me down. I was wrong! Twisted Q is delicious! The service is great and there are several side options (I tried them all and they're all good). The ribs and brisket were a little on the dry side, but they were still satisfactory and so far my favorite has been the pulled pork. Twisted Q will be my regular BBQ spot now.

I went to visit Twisted BBQ based on a recommendation from a friend. I called in my order for takeout. I ordered 2 BBQ dinners. I entered the restaurant and was not greeted at all. I proceeded to go to the dessert case and a man asked me did I want anything. I told him I was there for a pick up order and I also wanted to buy 3 items from the dessert case. The guy did not smile the whole time and I felt like I was bothering him and I am a patron. He gives me my food and starts to box the 3 desserts. He ask me do I need a bag. I said yes and he leaves an empty bag on the counter and goes to the back. Very rude!!!!! I was very upset put my items in my bag and got in my car to cool down. I called Twisted BBQ and asked to speak to the manager and complain about the poor customer service I received. To my surprise the guy who waited on me is the manager!! I told him he should not have to ask me if I wanted a bag and then have me bag my own desserts. He apologized on the phone and claimed he asked if I wanted him to bag my items which is a lie. I told him even if I liked the food I would never walk in his business again because of the horrible service I received. Well on to the food, for 10.00 the ribs were not meaty, not seasoned and burnt. The portion of food was very small for the amount I paid. The desserts were decent but I have had better. If you want real BBQ, big portions and great service visit Rib B Ribs in Calumet City, IL and Exsenator's in Markham, IL.

We ordered Twisted Q catering for my daughter's birthday party last night. While I normally don't venture away from the Dixie Brisket Sandwich, I decided to go with the Pulled Pork for the party. And let me tell you, it was just as delicious! Everyone commented on how good it was, along with the corn bread pudding side. I was very impressed with how the smokey flavor of the pork and just all around fantastic flavor of the BBQ sauce were not lost in the larger catering order. Besides our standard Friday night take-out dinner, Twisted Q will be our new go-to place when ordering for parties now too!

It was worth the wait for their opening last week. We have had their st louis ribs andbbq chicken twice now. Excellent food and especially good bbq sauce. Their wait staff is still working out kinks of being instantly busy with what looks like an overly complicated ticket system and management pushing them hard to keep up and learn the choreography of serving takeouts and sit downs and bakery goods all at the same time. Good coffee for the morning commute too and terrific donuts and pie.

The food is solid! The apple pie was delicious and not overly sweet. The pie could have been packed a bit more but other than that no complaints. The thing that was amazingly awesome though was the bread that came with my barbeque platter - if it's the bun for sausage sandwiches and such I'm definitely going back to try one!

How did we not know about this place?? I tried the banana leaf wrapped tilapia, and it was very good my husband had the pulled pork sandwich and he enjoyed it. However, I did not know that the tilapia would take 40 minutes to cook!

What a hidden treasure Twisted Q BBQ is! My Railroad Club went on a Metra Trip Saturday to Homewood and what a find this place turned out to be. We planned to eat like we had two years ago when last in town at Tom's. Marching the three blocks east from the Station we soon discovered Tom's was out of business! Thank heavens Kathy had seen Twisted Q BBQ on the way to Tom's. In fact it was just three doors from the Station and on the south side of Ridge. We had walked along the north side. Opened last year, it is next to another closed restaurant. There is really nothing fancy about the place except for its amazing portions and super home cooking. If this place were in Milwaukee, I'd be here weekly. Emily and her associate greeted us and once situated helped us with the menu and large water glasses with the outside temperature a humid 85 degrees. I ordered a Senior Hamburger with fries and what a treat it turned out to be. No simple burger here, covered in caramelized onions and served on a double-buttered bun with hand-cut fries it was amazing. Almost made me feel I was back in the Dairy State! Kathy ordered the Taco Salad which was huge and even turned some heads on its way to our table. One Bob ordered the Brisket Salad and the other Chicken Wraps, two huge wraps enough to feed three and he finished it all! Thanks to Kathy we all split one of the bakeries large and filling chocolate brownies. Yummmmm! Not only was Twisted Q BBQ a "lifesaver" for us, but we hope it will be a valuable asset to Homewood. Its extensive menu lives up to its name offering a wide variety of bar-b-que as well as traditional offerings, great bakery and reasonable prices. This is the place we will be sending all our members to when visiting your many outstanding Railroad attractions.

Straightforward BBQ menu with ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, and the usual sides, like mac n cheese. Service is good and it comes out fast. You can get a local beer too: look for their selections from Argus Brewery. The fish is a surprise and it is good, so give it a try. They also have great bakery goods in there... the selection of cupcakes was another surprise! Great way to end a good dinner.

I will update my review when I've had a chance to eat the food and not just the cupcakes. However, the cupcakes were a huge disappointment. The frosting was way on the sweet chalky side. The cream cheese frosting wasn't as awful, but the cupcake it sat on made it worthless to me. The cupcakes were flat, didn't rise at all above the cupcake liner. The taste wasn't awful either. But what got me was that I am convinced they are box mix. I am convinced of this b/c of the carrot cake cupcake and the red velvet cupcake. My mom loves red velvet, but always uses a box mix, which were identical to these. Also, I've seen carrot cake box mix. In those cakes, the "carrots" are little dots of orange throughout the cake. Perfect little dots of orange. No grated or shredded carrot. Perfect dots. If you can prove to me that those are natural, I will take my statement back. This will not prevent me from trying the BBQ, but I will not try any of the overpriced cupcakes again. Remember, you can buy a box mix for a $1 at Walmart and make 24.
