High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

Stopped at this Applebee's on a Saturday night and it was jammed packed. I am not a huge fan of Applebee's since their menu provides limited options for my highly restricted diet. Damn you, once again food allergies. I had the challenge of finding menu items that were neither, fried, greasy, nor drenched in cheese. Oh how I miss cheese. Anyways, I settled for raspberry ice tea and grilled chicken Caesar salad without cheese nor dressing. The raspberry ice tea was way too sweet. My mother who also ordered it had to send it back. To my surprise, the cooks did an above average job grilling the chicken breast. The rest of my family seemed satisfied with their orders. They ordered onion rings for an appetizer. How I wish I could have tasted them. Oh well, at least I do not risk a coronary. My dad ordered the riblet basket with fries. The fries were too salty but he found the riblets adequate. My mother ordered the creamy cajun steak & shrimp with roasted potatoes. She seemed to enjoy her entree the most. Finally, my cousin had the creamy Parmesan chicken. Again, no major complaints. For being a busy night, our waitress provided above average service. You should really consider eating here if you are in the area running errands and do not feel like heading out to downtown LaGrange.

I'm a waitress so I know good service and Applebee's treated my boyfriend and I GREAT. We go here all the time and usually get the cute waitress, Karen, but this time we came in later than usually, around 10:30pm and Will seated us in a comfy booth and usually when being seated they just say have a great meal or something. he asked us how our day was and was very friendly, I didn't expect it but I loved it! Our food was great as usual I always get the chicken penne. but why I gave tonight's meal 5 stars was because our server Micheal! He was friendly, he was very attentive, he remembered little things, and just overall a great. usually at the end of the night people would tired and dragging ass and just ready to get out of work but he had high level of energy and gave off good vibes! thank you Micheal!

Do not, I repeat, do not go here when it is busy. Horrible service. We went on Labor Day and every server looked out of sorts and the manager working looked like she had no idea what she was doing. Most of the servers still looked like they were being nice to their tables, but were visibly flustered. Maybe they were shorthanded...but no one was doing anything to assist, certainly the manager was not helping expedite things. We sat at the bar and wondered where the bartender was for a very long time between ordering drinks and when we ordered food. And then it took forever for food to come out, so long that our apps and dinner came within 30 seconds of each other. We kept hearing servers going to the, slow as molasses, manager with their issues over and over and over. Just a complete mess service wise. The food was ok. Chicken caesar was average but tasty, the fish and chips was better than expected for a chain restaurant, the mozzarella sticks were eh, the quesadillas eh. The best item was the won ton tacos. Quite tasty!

When I walked into this location on Saturday night, I found it almost empty. In fact, during my whole visit, I did not see even one person sit at the bar. There were plenty of tables open and the place was as quiet as a library. Considering all the open tables, it annoyed me a little that the hostess wanted to seat my guest and me at the bar. We declined it and were offered a high table (which I'm also not fond of, as I'm a shorty) when there were plenty of booths and low tables available. The food was average to below average. The salad I ordered was very soggy and I sent it back. The chicken tenders basket was ho-hum. There was nothing wrong with it, but it was no different from frozen chicken tenders you can get at the supermarket. This place really is sad. I don't know how it stays open. During my visit, the waitresses and bar staff were all just standing around bored, chatting about Taylor Swift and watching an arm wrestling contest. Very weird experience.

Stopped in today while it was almost empty, service was slow and there was a hair, an inch and a half long, that looked like a pubic hair in my food. The manager agreed to remove the 3 dollar item from my bill and did not. The hair had a large follicle still attached, suggesting that it was plucked. Never returning.

What in the world happened to this Applebees? The night we went not only were they out of half the items we ordered, but the service was just sad. I felt bad for our poor server because he'd just gotten through taking abuse from the table next to ours for the order coming out in pieces, and apparently taking forever. Pretty inexcusable for 8 p.m. on a Sunday night when only a quarter of the restaurant was even full. The poor manager looked like she was at her wit's end too, running around trying to put out fires. She had that exasperated, "I don't even care" look on her face. When she came over to tell us they were completely out of the one thing we really wanted, we threw in the towel and walked out; telling her to cancel the order. I hope they get their act back together, but it seems like it's going to take either a miracle or a corporate intervention for that to happen. Miss you, Applebees. Come back soon.

First, my brother and sister both worked here about 10+ years ago, so I know how the restaurant has changed over the years. The place used to have all sorts of interesting artwork, props, and photos displayed all over the walls, but within the last year they decided to take it all down and put up some Chicago attraction art and sports. Also adding a bunch of giant TVs every which way you can turn your head. It seems like every place is trying to have that "sports bar" look to attract more people to watch the games, but I think this takes away from the personal touch of what a restaurant can be. Hate this remodel. There was a time when my husband ordered a bacon burger and his bacon was cold, which we had to send it back )which we hate doing). Last night we went, our waitress seemed to be swamped with too many tables. After our food arrived, she never came to check in on us. Finally when she came to our table after our meals were eaten and we've been sitting for about 15 mins with our plates at the end of our table, I ordered a little shooter desert, which took another 15 mins to arrive (just for a tiny shot glass of chocolate!). The table behind us had been sitting for a long time without ever being approached by the waitress and when she was finally flagged down she explained to the table "Sorry we only have 2 servers in the restaurant", and also complained to another co-worker (who was trying to get her to attend her table after he was flagged down to fetch her) she yelled out loudly "I'm a little busy can't you see!". the table was dirty, had bits of food on it, and the menus were greasy. the bathrooms always smell awful. The service of the place has gone down, and I was very unhappy with my service I got last night. This place isn't what it used to be.

Haven't been to this location in quite some time - nice remodel! Hostess was very nice and obliged us when needing to sit away from windows and bright light due to friend's eye sensitivity. Ericka, our server, was very quick with drinks and refills our whole visit. She took our dishes away when finished but didn't push for us to leave while we sat and chatted. Even when it took us another 20 minutes to decide if we were having dessert - she seemed to always have a smile on her face. Our appetizers came quickly and were very tasty! Lunch was great - food tasted very good, and lunch specials were greatly priced! The Chicken Penne/ house salad combo tasted very freshly made and was just the right portion size for a lunch. I will definately be returning to this location when shopping in the area!

I probably come here too often but I only go after 9pm for half price appetizers. the appetizers are pretty good but they only offer a limited selection. I wouldn't come here for a full meal because applebees is kind of blah in my mind. The evening wait staff is kinda slow and seems to socialize a lot. I'm pretty sure they just want to get out of there though so that would make sense.

I mean it's Applebee's I'm not really sure the scale can go any higher than 3 or 4 stars. Service was decent, food was ok and the price was good.

I go here from time to time and I've always had a pleasant experience. The staff is super friendly and very accommodating! They recently remodeled and the ambience is much more open and relaxed. We went here yesterday for the happy hour 1/2 off appetizer special after 9pm and couldn't have been more pleased with our purchase and bill! My boyfriend got 3 appetizers and I got a meal and 1 appetizer and 1 drink and our total was 26 dollars. The happy hour special is definitely worth it. My sister ordered the trio appetizer plate and something happened with the order wherein it came out later than the rest of our food and they completely took it off her bill. That's 13$! We didn't even make a big gripe about it so way to go above and beyond, Applebees! Food was fresh and super tasty! Definitely get the chicken won ton tacos. Super Delish!

Stopped in for lunch on a weekend while doing some shopping in the are. One word. Sucks! Service was efficient, but far from hospitable. My son's burger was RAW.. not sure how they are okay with serving raw food to an eight year old! Food was less then good. The manager did do good by taking off the burger and giving us a discount. As far as I am concerned I would rather pay my bill in full and enjoy my food. I do not believe you should try getting customers to come back by the size of the discount you are willing to give if you mess up. Bottom line, go elsewhere.

I don't know where to start. We got in and there was 10 minute wait which is understandable. We go to sit at the bar and all the drafts are broke except for Budweiser. So I settle on having the diesel, alright shit happens. We get sat and order appetizers and the waiter says he will be back to take our orders, our appetizers come... Still no real order taken. We don't even get plates with our appetizers. We finally get to order our food after an hour. The waiter barely comes around to refill our drinks. Had empty glasses more than half the time. We get our food after two hours and sure enough they dropped it on the seat because they hadn't cleared any of the appetizer plates. They say the manager will be up to talk about it instead she finally drops off the beer we had ordered and walks away with out even saying sorry. The steaks we ordered weren't the way we wanted it prepared. They told us the kitchen was backed up.... It wasn't just one problem, just everything. The waiter, the manager, the kitchen, the bar. If you're thinking of going here to avoid the wait at good places don't, just don't. I wouldn't send a terrorist from ISIS here.

It's a convenient place to stop for a bite to eat while out shopping or before going to the movies. It can get very crowded on the weekends, but the tables move quickly. I ordered the black & bleu burger and it was actually very good. Very decent prices.

I have to ask myself why I keep going back to this place with it's sub-par service and more sub-par food. I know why! It's because it is the suburbs and for whatever the reason is that businesses in the 'burbs tend to want to roll up the sidewalks in front of their stores and lock the doors as if the Boogyman somehow comes out after 11 pm. I found myself (yet again) at this particular Crapapplebees (how witty, I used a play on words... lol) after leaving a later movie at LaGrange Theater, now here is a town (LaGrange) that really knows how to roll up the party at 9pm, and since there wasn't much to be had at 10:30 I found myself pulling into a parking spot in said restaurant. With a deep sigh I exited my car in hopes that this would be one of the rare occasions where my time will be at least somewhat enjoyable, but was prepared for the usual worst. I did have one plus, it being 10:30ish on a weeknight I wasn't going to have to deal with teens that think the place is cool or parents and their whiny/crying ass kids. Yeah, right. Little at the time did I realize how wrong I would be. The usual custom where the greeter was ready to rip the door from your grasp to tell you welcome wasn't forth coming this time around and as I entered the establishment I quickly knew why. The greeter looked as if she just taken a hand full of Ludes (yeah, I'm keeping it old school here) and wasn't too thrilled to remover herself from the perch of the chair that was holding her up. But like a champ she somehow she did and showed my wife and I a table in quick walking distance just in case, you know, that she had to quickly sit. She mumbled something after depositing us (surprise, surprise, right next to a group of teens that thought this was a cool place to hang) and disappeared completely after that. Thankfully she had sense enough to leave the menus in her wake. The place was near empty and I was a little stupefied that it took more than five minutes for the waitress to come over especially with a table full of customers right next us. But when I saw that our waitress was also the clean up girl it all made sense. We decided to make it easy on her (the waitress) and the "cook" and we both ordered the same thing. The drinks came out promptly, however, I was on my second round of beer before the food (the Nar'leans Skillet) made it's way to the table. Before the food arrived the waitress went back to vacuuming duties with what they call a vacuum and the wife went to powder her nose (lol). Upon her (the wife) return I was informed of the high standard and quality of the bathroom where there was a large pool of water in the corner in the back stall from a leak. And after watching way too much "Kitchen Nightmares" and "Restaurant: Impossible" we weren't surprised by this or the fact that Crapapplebees wasn't sited for a fine or even shut down. The food, as to be expected, was sub-par. Somehow the "cook" (I use that term loosely) undercooked half the shrimp. Which is amazing since it is easier to over cook shrimp than it is to under cook. We quickly made our exit just before 11 when a family made up of mostly young children made their way to a table next us and the whining began. (what did I say about teenagers and crying kids not being around?... lol) Needless to say that this is and will be my last visit to Crapapplebees. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I had a great time and meal here, I will be honest the food is not top quality but my total bill came out to $30 for two people with dinner, appetizer, and drinks. The reason why I am leaving this review is because I ordered a steak but asked for no almonds on top, however it showed up with almonds. So I Instantly pointed that out, and the waitress apologized multiple times so I knew it was an honest mistake and offered another steak but I said it was fine. THEN the manager walked over and offered anything else we may want, once again I said I was okay but thanks. At the end of the meal our check came and the manger took over 25% off and apologized a 3rd time for the mistake. Very good customer service and we will be back!

This is a nice family restaurant with affordable prices and decent food. The food isn't going to blow you away, but the prices are right. Currently they offer a 2 for $20 deal which provides an appetizer and two entrees for $20. The food is not super original, but you really can't ask for gourmet at these prices. The atmosphere is nice. It's a neighborhood feel and a good, clean place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I didn't have any problems with these two areas. This is a nice place for an affordable price. It's not for a fancy night out, but it serves a good purpose. I'd recommend it.

Typical chain food/atmosphere/service. The younger waiters/hosts are definitely not professional - they need an additional couple of years of training...... There are two (much more experienced) waitresses that are very good in what they do - they have true customer service knowledge. We've been coming here for the past 3 years and only come here when we're desperate or really, really hungry. Overall experience and food: just OK ....not sure if we'll come back.....

Spoiled, rotten guacamole. I used to love this place for one reason. The Santa Fe Salad. It usually comes with their delicious gauc. This time it came with spoiled rotten guac. After telling the waitress, which by the way was amazing, friendly and very attentive, her name was Suzy, the manager came by and said "oh you didn't like the guacamole? I explained to her that is was spoiled and her response was that they're making a new batch and she'll bring some out to see if I like that instead. Sure enough she brings out more guac and it's spoiled too. Her response again was "oh you didn't like it". Does anyone want to pay for spoiled food??? I kindly told her again that it's rotten and spoiled and she shouldn't be serving it to her customers. Her response was that it was just made. I asked if she it could have been the avocados that were bad and she just stared at me like she didn't understand me. She rudely offered us free dessert. My daughter had tasted the guac both times also and she spit it on a napkin both times. It was spoiled. This actually happened a few months ago, I haven't been back since.

Went here as a last minute meal while shopping, and forgot why I haven't been here in 6 years now I know why. Our server was great, but the food and atmosphere was not. The menus were sticky and had old food on them, and the tables didn't feel clean. My mom and I ordered ice teas which were rather small and cost $2.50 each. My mom ordered a ruben and only ate 1/4 of it cause it was so greasy. I ordered a burger that was dripping with grease, and came with shredded mozzarella. My mom wanted to wash her hands after we left because they felt so dirty. Won't be returning again.

Okay...it's a chain; no shocker there. So if you grade it within the category of chain food a la Friday's/Chilis/RedLobster/Shenanigans/whatever...it'll be better for all of us. Also, do not order the steak of sea bass at a chain! If you do that you are asking for trouble, stick to the basics and you'll have a fine time... My sister and I popped into Applebee's at about noon on a Monday. The place was half full with office workers and groups of gals looking like they were heading o the local Kohls or Target that share the parking lot. We were greeted quickly and sat in the bar area where career chain restaurant waiter Wes took or order and served us in record time. The trick to a good experience here. Be clear, order basics, you are not at the Four-Season's Dining Room... We had the $20 buck lunch for two (chicken fingers/four sauces/cheese sticks) healthy? Hell no. Fast, crispy chicken and cheesy stuff to eat, yesiree! My only other suggestion is to try to get Wes the waiter. He was all-pro.

I came in here for gift cards and left feeling like I was cursed. I was directed to the bar as soon as I walked in. I told the bartender that I needed seven twenty dollar gift cards. As soon as the last card was swiped, the system crashed. She told me that this was the first time it happened this year and corporate told them that it wasn't suppose to happen any more. And that it was my fault, with a smile. Hmm. That is kind of rude. Especially when there was 4 other people at the bar and they all found it funny. 15 minutes later they still couldn't get the system back up and asked if we could all come back later? We all declined. After a free soda and another 10 minutes, the registers came back on-line. She promptly took back all my cards because she wasn't sure if they would be funded. So she could give me new one's. I had to explain 3 times why I wanted the envelopes back. I had signed and greeted all of them and didn't want to do it again. This took way to long and much to much trouble for something that should have taken less than 5 minutes. The curse continues.

This place is OK for a chain (aren't they all) I have still yet to go to a chain restaurant that really knocked me off my feet. We went there for lunch as we had $5 burger coupons and I had the quesadilla burger which was a different spin on your ordinary average burger. The staff here was friendly but they seemed rather confused. We had three waitresses come over to our table to wait on us. We were wondering if this would create added confusion and we would get sub par service. They made a good recovery though and we had a decent lunch.

I had a great steak there today. Good service. Prices weren't bad. For a chain type restaurant the food was pretty good. The flavoring even on the vegetables was good.

I always got the chicken quesadilla grande as a meal, used to be so filling and well proportioned. They made changes to the menu and now they are miniature sized and taste differently yet still cost the same. When my wife came home with the order i was very disappointed and still hungry afterward. You're so called upgraded bar menu has cost you loyal customers. The quesadillas were the only item that attracted me their and now i will move on .

My family and I stopped in on a Sunday for a late lunch. The burger I ordered was sloppily presented on the plate....the plate was dirty around the perimeter and when we asked for a clean plate, she gave us one and we had to move our food to the clean plate ourselves.....our server had green nail polish (which I'm not opposed to) on her chewed-up nails and the polish was pealing and chipping. I normally would not notice this except that when presenting our beverages, she held the glasses by her fingertips. Needless to say, we all asked for straws. And - something that really bugs me: she kept on calling us "guys" ("what would you GUYS like to order"; "can I get anything else for you GUYS?"). There were females in our group and she was talking to us as if we were teens. Lesson learned: table service does not always equal better dining than McDonald's.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
