When i first moved out here, everyone bragged about this place. I tried it and thought it was less than average. Maybe it was good back in the day, but I ordered pizza and a pasta dish and wasn't impressed and haven't been back since. Since then, I've heard others say the same thing. It's given all this hype but is disappointing. This place is really for old timers which is all I see going in and out of this place!

Absolute RIPOFF. They charged my mom and I $8.00 for a pitcher of RC. The pizza and raviolis were mediocre. Total bill for pizza, pitcher and raviolis......$38 Go

I love Q's, yes there is a lot of nostalgia as I have been going here since I was a kid, and my dad has been dining at Q's since them opened, but it really is good. I had the meatball sub, salad + escarole soup, and got a sausage pizza to go :) Delicious, friendly service, awesome regulars that hang there too.

Great pizza. Reasonable prices. This place has not changed in 40 years. Usually this is a bad thing but for q's it is a good thing

Love Qs pizza!! Local spot, close to office and takes good care of our pizza needs (Dynamic mfg). Thin pizza can be asked for as double dough. Very good shrimp too. Our out of town visitors have it often and rave about it each time. Too bad I live on Southside but at least I get to enjoy it occasionally here at work. Good job Qs.

My family has been coming here for over 60 years and I have been coming here since I was a baby and the food is amazing!! The staff is friendly & polite and it's like my second home. I would recommend this place to everyone I know!

Went there yesterday after Brookfield zoo what a delightful restaurant excellent service and excellent food what a hidden gem. The bread they serve has like slices of salami in it and something it is totally out of this world. My wife and I will go back there again the next time we go to Brookfield zoo.

I have been coming here my whole life. It's one of those "Hidden Treats" restaurants for the whole family. Not too big, but not too small either.... just right!! PIZZA IS THE BEST!! Also, Monday night Football, they have FREE pizza during Halftime, but it's only if you're at the bar. Check them out!! You'll find something to love, I promise!!

Q's is almost always a good choice to watch a Chicago sports game, as long as you're not trying to watch "The Fire". They have a nice three sided bar with quick service and conservatively priced drinks. The pizza is surprisingly delicious, as is the pasta. I usually sit on the bar side to watch games but there is a more family friendly restaurant side also. This side has ample room for larger parties. And if your party is extra huge, they have a back room for reservation. Overall, Q's is a solid choice. I would recommend it all the way. Although if you go during prime time dinner hours, you might be waiting a little while.

This is my favorite pizza joint. I make it a point to eat here every time I'm in Chicago. They have a thin crust pizza (which they cut into square pieces). I get sausage most times, but most are really good. Always ask for the special of the day. The antipasto salad is great for a starter. If that's too much, just get their garden salad.

My brother lived in Elmhurst back in the 90's and this was his favorite pizza parlor. Who would have thought 14 years later the pizza tasted exactly the same. Delicious The bar is filled with local friendly faces and the staff is part of the experience. Kay have been there forever and treats you like family Weds night buy one get one free fills the room with long tables enjoying pizza and spaghetti. A true neighborhood Italian restaurant. Thanks Q'S

Everyone loved the food, this is def my go to place now for any event! Thanks Q's!!!

A rare cool place in Hillside this looks like an old school pizzeria and bar that is worth a visit and regular hangout. Small ceilings and classic vibe makes this place much better than typical strip mall pizza chain and this is one of the best independent pizzas I have had for a long time. The service is great and prices reasonable for both food and spirits and makes me long for a time when all pizza joints were like this and not the numerous boring chains or small carry out dives that are ubitiquos.

The young server is nice and overall didnt do anything amazing but nothing horrible . the older Asian lady was yelling and b**tchin to ppl and I actually wanted to ask her to take her problems in back like a normal person working in service should do. Food was good . Pizza had allllot of that corn bread type mix stuff . But the spaghetti meat sauce was ooooo so yummy

WOW!! Great pizza. More than a fair price. My friend had the Veil Parmasan meal and loved it also. I can't wait to eat here again when I'm in the neiborhood.

A friend and I tried to go to the bar here tonight, but couldn't get a bartender to pay attention. I texted my friend at 950p while standing at the bar, waiting for a drink. The female bartender was taking care of tabs for a table of guys, that's totally fine. The male bartender looked at me, took care of someone's tab, then got his own drink, and proceeded to talk to another customer - not serving the customer, just chatting. He then went to look at some girl's phone, who went behind the bar with him. He then started playing around on his phone. I could not get his attention, and he was not serving other customers. If he'd been busy serving other customers, I would've waited half an hour. At 9:55pm, I texted my friend that this bartender obviously didn't want my money, so we went to Coach's on St. Charles Rd. instead. There were two other customers who witnessed this, and I told them to let the bartender know he just lost 2 customers.

We found this place by chance after coming to Chicago to see the symphony in April of 2014. My family really enjoyed the pizza recipe and the genuine old style Italian family ambiance. During a three night stay in Chicago we ate at Q's twice it was so good. I am bringing my daughter back in November for another CSO concert and we can't wait to go to Q's.

Very disappointed with the food and the service. Used to hang out here when I was in high school (1970's) but recently met with some friends here & we had a rather large group. It took forever to get our first drink order and even longer for our server to take our food order. The pizza was less than par seemed under cooked and tasteless. Almost impossible to get drink refills as we had to track down our server to get drinks and many time she was sitting at a table conversing with other patrons. Will not be returning.

Great food, family-owned & family friendly, good value. Went here with a couple of grade school buddies for lunch. Each of us is part- or all-Italian by nationality. We all had the eggplant parm - it was great! (We all know what a pain it is to make!) Since we were celebrating a significant birthday, they even gave us free dessert! Good Italian food, good service, very casual atmosphere. No complaints about the food, but the atmosphere is what prevents me from giving it 5 stars.

Coming here since 1959. The quality and quantity continue. I only get the pizza. It is thin crust and cut "Chicago style". Really great prices in a no frills family friendly dinning room or local bar.

My daughter had her sons communion party catered from here. Everything she ordered was a 10 or above. My grandkids couldn't get enough of the baked mostaccholi, and neither could I. Best catered food I've had in a very long time.

Q's is delicious inexpensive and has awesome catering. Try the Italian beef pizza with gardiniere on the side. Great soup and solid breaded clams. Everything is good; the aforementioned is great. There is some communal seating and lots of families, so be warned you may end up sitting next to someones toddler on a busy night. It is very casual but always enjoyable. They have a party room that I have used on a couple of occasions. They are super accommodating As for the catering, amazing convenient and they deliver ANYWHERE! Once they brought me catering in Mokena and only charged me a $20 delivery fee. The chicken ala Q's is a must do as well as the antipasti salad. The sign was recently named a Hillside historical landmark. I think the restaurant should get landmark status too. Bravo Q's!

Love me some Q's. We went there for Monday Night Football last night and it was a really fun experience. Very chill atmosphere, $2 miller lites and free pizza at halftime. The pizza was really fantastic and definitely some of the best suburban pizza you can get. The bartender was friendly and hilarious, and the place was really well maintained and clean. There was also ample parking right in front of the place which makes Q's extremely accessible. Needless to say I'll be back soon.

Yummmy!! Some of the best pizza you will ever find. Amazing service and you will leave with a stuffed belly!! You will never go wrong ordering the sausage pizza! Onion rings are amazing and so are all the soups! Also had a glass of the cupcake riesling! It was delicious! Mike the owner is so sweet and kind...he makes you feel like you're at home enjoy a delicious meal with friends and family! This is a must go OH!! AND DONT FORGET ABOUT THE CHEESECAKE.

I love Q's. We go there a lot. The pizza is really good, as are other entrees. You get a lot for your money. If you get an entree it comes with soup and salad and a side of pasta. I love the food. They have a separate bar area as well. People have been going there for 50 years. It's definitely a popular place to go to dinner for a lot of people. It gets busy on the weekends, so get there early.

You couldn't have much more of an authentic Italian restaurant. Great food! Mike, the owner, comes around to the tables & chats with you. I've never been in here without seeing him. It's good to see pride in one's business.

As generous as I tend to be with stars (well, not really, I just tend to avoid places with sub-par products and service), I hate to give this place only three of them, but I must. This place is a classic pizza joint that you don't see much of anymore. And I do plan to return - probably to try the pizza, which I haven't enjoyed there in years. But tonight, I opted for a lasagna dinner. First of all - it's a pretty good deal for $9.95 you get a breadbasket, soup and a salad (that came in one of those classic small plastic salad bowls - I didn't know they made those anymore!). The entree came out on a small platter and as servings go nowadays, was small - average portion-wise. The sauce was good, but the dish was warm at best, wish there was a little evidence of steam. The pasta also had a starchy taste to it - more-so than what would be considered normal. Along with dinner, I had two Peroni's and an order of spumoni (which was good, but a little small). The bill with tax - $21.35 - a decent deal as prices go nowadays. I sat at the bar and got great service. Glad I visited and will go again - I love the atmosphere. Hopefully the food will be a little better next time.

I travel extensively for business so I rely on Yelp to help me find the best places to eat in every city. This time, Yelp, you let me down. I took a seat at the bar and looked over the draft beer menu. When I ordered the beer I wanted the lady taking my order stated "We have xxxx and yyyy on tap (my choice apparently not offered)". "Oh. I guess you used to have it since I see it here on the menu" "We have it out there.....not in here". Huh?? After choosing xxxxx, she brings me a 10oz mug of beer. What?? Ok, so I decide to order a pizza. I went with the Q Special because heck, how could the special not be good at a place that gets 5 star ratings on Yelp. As I was waiting, I tried to strike up a conversation with the lady behind the bar by noting the old cash register and asking if it had been here since the beginning. She didn't even look at me while offering a flip remark in response. Ok.....guess not. When the pizza came, I opened the box remembering the yelp reviews raving about the pizza. Uh Oh Batman. The first thing I noticed was the runny sauce and pool of liquid in the middle of the pizza. Next, I had to try to remember if I had ordered an onion and green pepper pizza. Mushrooms.....nada. Sausage.......nada. Ground Beef......some. Cheese.......nada. I was excited about the thin crust but if I wanted to eat a soggy paper towel, I would have ordered that. I ate a couple of pieces from the edge and it was tasteless. I rooted around and found what I thought was sausage, but again, no taste. Not once was I asked how I liked my meal or if I wanted another beer. I paid my $20 bill and left the nasty, mushy mess on the bar. Maybe it's a Chicago thing, but I don't get it.

Q's is a great value and offers great food. If your into thin crust pizza you have to try this place. The rest of their offering are great too. But the pizza is what they're most known for and it's worth it. Usually I'm not into thin crust but Q's is the exception.

You know how you know you found a gem? When you move several states away and its the only thing everyone in your family asks for when someone comes to visit. I grew up eating Q's, not realizing what we had. The perfect pizza with the perfect sauce. The lasagna, the meatballs, the red sauce, the minestrone soup.. Ugh, I could keep going on. We use to eat there all the time, 2, 3 times a week when I was pregnant. The italian cookies baked by the waitress sitting at the register.. the italian sausage dinner and even the garlic dressing on the tiny salads you get. Did I mention we moved and we can't get this incredible food anymore? There is something wonderful about Q's, and its not the tiny place that I watched expand over my teenage years nor is it the friendly group of older ladies who squeeze between tables to bring you your bread basket. Its not the little glasses of RC (which you just can't replace) or the groups of older men who come in and take up 2 lengths of tables and eat family style and make you smile from ear to ear.. Its the pizza that comes to the table cut in squares, covered in an incredible red sauce topped with true italian sausage that was not precooked beforehand. Add some properly drained ricotta and a good layer of mozzarella.. and you have what I consider the best pizza on the face of the earth. Heck, I have never eaten anything at Q's that we did not devour. We have also had several family events at q's including my sons graduation from high school, birthday parties and even my parents wedding rehearsal dinner.. Q's my family misses you. I feel horrible for taking advantage of the incredible food we had at our fingertips while living there.

Had dinner there tonite. The noise was oppressive. It was impossible for the four of us senior citizens (old old people) to hold a real conversation. In our little corner of the place, we had enough space, but the room is really crowded with tables. Service was a little spotty. At first we were seated, given menus and water and bread, and the waitress took our drink order. Then, there was a gap and we noticed another table seated after us had drinks and salade. The other couple had a pizza they seemed to enjoy. I had a slab of ribs that were very meaty and cooked to perfection. The bbq sauce was ok. My wife had chicken parmesan - hold the breading on the chicken, which they did. She said it was OK. Over all, the food is adequate with good size servings at a reasonable neighborhood price. Not a place to go for any atmosphere. Certainly would never be a destination restaurant.

Q's has quite a following and on a cold snowy Friday night, I thought I would give this place a try. Among the praises I've read about and heard, was their thin crust pizza. Once inside, the restaurant definitely had an old-school appeal about it, a bar area all lit up with christmas lights and two separate dining areas. The walls were made of a white brick that was big in the early sixties. The bartender and waitresses were all ladies old enough to be my grandmother but they were attentive enough. Menu was your basic italian, various appetizers, pasta dishes, some chicken and veal and of course, PIZZA. I ordered a cheese pizza, a sausage and mushroom pizza and some linguine with white clam sauce to take out. The whole thing cost about 45 bucks plus tip. When I got the whole thing home, I was just a bit disappointed. The pizza itself was a little lean on toppings, but I found the sauce to be very unappealing, very sweet and bland, like ketchup. The linguine with clam sauce wasn't bad, very garlicky and the the pasta was nice and firm, but probably made from a box as opposed to made from scratch. I didn't give Q's anything less than a three star because the food isn't bad. Just not to my taste, I prefer more toppings and a spicier pizza sauce.

I have been going to Q's for nearly 30 years and it is still the best value in town! Every entrée includes bread, soup, and salad. The wait staff is friendly and fast. Great place and great food!!

  • T M.

Very over rated. Pizza sauce lacks flavor, saw "bits"of what might have been sausage and the crust was just okay to below average. Combo appetisers were over cooked to a dark brow hard crunch and bread was stale. This place might have been THE place to go in the 60's & 70's cauz it was more than likely THE only pizza place to go in the neighborhood. But time to kick some flavor into the mix...it's stale AND the hostess has a terrible attitude. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Haveing not been here in a long time my family and I decided to go to Q's for a friday night dinner. When I first entered I couldn't believe how small the place was. I remember it being bigger for some reason. The tables are close togather but it is still comfortable. Our waitress was also very friendly. We ordered the antipasto salad as an appitiser. When they say large here they mean it. This thing was gigantic. It was enough for 10 or 15 people and we only had 4 :) For dinner I ordered the cheese pizza. While the pizza had a great taste my one complaint was it was a bit on the greasy side. The food here however is all very fresh and homemade. If you leave here hungry it is your own fault.

Unfortunately I have to give a thumbs down on the pizza for this place. The pizza was BLAND.... Honestly... A $1 Tortinos is better than this establishments.

I've been to Q's quite a few times. Mostly for parties in the back room. For some reason my boyfriends family loves it. Their food is just average. I do like their sausage plates a lot. It is definetly old school, including the waitresses. I'm not kidding. I'm almost convinced that they've been there since it opened. No wonder they always act like they woke up on the wrong side of the bed! Lol

My Mom has wanted to go here for some time after seeing it on Check Please! and we had a family meal there for her birthday. We know friends of the owners (fuggeddabaddit), and had reservations. Special attention: A friend of my Mom from Florida bought the group a bottle of wine over the phone and they accommodated that request. They also brought out a complimentary spice cake for her after the meal (delicious I was told, but I'm not one for sweets and pastries- I'm sweet enough already thank you!) Jalapeno bread is great, but add some of the oil from the hot giardiniera and it makes all the difference (must try this if you like spicy)! Pizza was delectable- thin crust with light corn meal on the bottom. The prices are extremely affordable and it came to less than $10 per person after tip for three large pizzas (one specialty and two-2 topping), a pasta dish, and a pitcher of RC. The atmosphere is kinda stuffy- no windows, low ceilings, and cafeteria-style seating. The noise and voices echo uncomfortably. They do have frozen take-out right next to the restaurant entrance.

I stopped in this restaurant while visiting Chicago because it got good Yelp ratings and it wasn't too far from the hotel I was staying at. This is a family style place with long rows of tables, relatively high ambient noise level and a classic pizzeria feeling. It had a good selection on the menu. The serving size was large, and left feeling stuffed. The presentation was plain but the food was prepared well and tasted good. There was a bar attached also if you wanted to go hang out and have a few beers and watch a game. The cost was low and I feel I got great value.

Worth the drive for the homemade gnocchi, OMG! and I really don't like using OMG! but OMG! so good. The pizza is pretty good also, there thin crust is reminiscent of Marie's on Lawrence. I had a taste for pizza, my husband wanted to try the gnocchi. Well as any good wife would do, I stuck my fork in his plate for a try. Yeah, he had to fight me off of his plate. Little angel clouds of goodness. Get this straight, you go here for the gnocchi, not the decor, not for a quiet romantic dinner, but for the gnocchi. Pizza if you must. I want some now! OMG!!

O.M.G. If you don't stop here for pizza or for the meatballs, you don't know what your missing. I love their meat sauce. You can buy it by the pint and take it home. I try to go at least once a week.

My wife's family has raved about this place for years. I finally went there to try it. I think my In-laws could be insane. I ordered a pizza with mushrooms. The few mushrooms that did show up looked like they came out of a can. The rest of the pizza was bland, as though it were made in a junior high cooking class. Service was very slow. We had a group of 8. The pizza's were served 20 minutes before the pasta entrees were served. And to clarify, these were not Prima Platti pizzas; they were the entree. Bar service was also inconsiderate. I ordered a pint of an Italian beer. It arrived as 10 ounces, about 25 minutes later. Their explanation? They couldn't serve it in a pint glass, even though other beers could. I could not find the Candid Cameras - I think she was serious. Bottom line, don't go unless you consider Little Ceaser's to be too flavorful and exotic.

Q's is the type of place that takes me back to my childhood. A little bit of background information: I did not grow up on frou-frou foods. We would have a steady rotation of hamburgers, pork chops and casseroles (tuna noodle anyone?). Going out to eat was pretty basic as well, where we would patronize a family restaurant or a pizza joint. Maybe Chinese or Mexican if we were feeling more exotic. We never ate things like pork belly or tofu...or sushi (yuck, it was fried fish for me!) So, despite the fact that my tastebuds have evolved and I have a much wider palate these days, I still appreciate places that take me back to simpler times (both food-wise and life-wise). Good food at reasonable prices...my dad would love this place! We started with some delicious pizza bread and drinks. Their house red wine was not bad at all and inexpensive to boot. Off to a good start, Q's! Pasta was tasty and inexpensive, and we all left full and happy. I will be back to try some of the pizza (and more pasta) and to return to my simpler times where fish was served fried and pork was served chop.

Being pizza nuts, we had to try Q's based on a recommendation from a fellow co-worker as well as that the place has been around almost as long as I have, LOL! We ordered a salad and an app of friend ravioli and a large thin pizza 1/2 cheese 1/2 sausage, our gauge on rating pizza. First of all, the ravioli's were amazing, light and crispy, breaded and fried to perfection. Unfortunately, the marinara sauce was bitter, but the creamy garlic dressing was perfect for dunking the delicious little pillows of cheese in! The pizza arrived, and yum it was perfect. Just the right amount of oil dripping off, thin, not too crispy crust and great flavors of cheese, basil and oregano. No doubt about it, we will return here very soon!

A kitchy and amusing hole-in-the-wall... ...and I wouldn't have it any other way. This place has "Local" written all over it. That's why you go--you're in the area. I've given it an extra star just because I find the slow sixtysomething no-nonsense female servers to be a stich. (One of them reminds me of Maxine, the Shoebox Cards lady.) The counter lady, who's part of the family, is super-sweet to kinda balance that out. The food is nothing you can't get anywhere else, EXCEPT the homemade gnocchi, which IS in fact worth going out of your way for--as is their red sauce--nothing fancy but for some reason just perfect. The vodka sauce is good as well, but they charge a whopping $4 extra fot it. (Percentage-wise, that's a Lot!) Pizza: if you like it with a super-thin crust you can roll up (and a little greasy), their pizza is for you. Something tells me they've been doing it the same way since before stuffed and deep dish became so popular. An added plus is they do a nice job decorating for holidays, especially halloween, in an Old-School sort of way. Bottom line: What can I say except--while NOT for gourmands--this place is a nice landmark on that Strip-of-Hillside-that-time-forgot (just west of Wolf on Butterfield). It has a gruff charm.. Pick up a T-shirt or cap while you're there.

Sunday afternoon A friend and I went to Qs restaurant with her daughter for dinner. We had appitizers, pizza, and cheese cake. The service was great. The pizza was outstanding. My friend and her daughter enjoyed the cheesecake. Qs Cheesecake is home made and it is the little known secret of Hillside. You must try it. Upon arrival at the table we had three different types of Italian bread served. The Qs home made Italian bread is the best. Everyone likes it. The wine was good at only $6.00 a glass. For family dinners I recommend this restaurant. There was no waiting and we were seated quickly. I thank the staff Cindy, Marsha and Tim. Qs is a keeper .....have a nice Sunday Night (:

Went to this place last night with my daughter and boyfriend. I have been there before and had pizza which was always good, not to mention my extended family has been going there for over 20 years. I will never visit this establishment again. I ordered their version of Chicken Franchese. It was 2 frozen chicken breasts on top of linguine drench in some sort of a sauce. I am in this business and also cook this dish at home. How they can try and pass this dish is off as Chicken Franchese is beyond me. Horrible customer service there. Our server never even came back to see how our food was. When she finally came back everyone else was done with their meals. I told her it was horrible and all she did was say she was sorry and brought the bill. The $12.95 for that frozen dog food was on there. Are you kidding me? I complained to the manager and he made sure to charge me for soup and salad I had that came with the meal. That came out to $9. The salad consisted of only iceberg lettuce in a cereal bowl. No other vegetables. How has this place been in business for so long? I will never, ever go there again

I don't usually go to dive bars, but ended up here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The place was pretty hopping, but thankfully we had the back room reserved for us. And, the back room was just that: a back room that evoked the feeling that you were in someone's basement in the 1970s. The food was good, but not stellar. The pasta sauce was a bit too salty, and the pasta was a little over-cooked. The pizza was okay, but again the sauce wasn't great. The italian sausage was probably the best part of the meal. I get the sense that Q's is the kind of place that either regular neighborhood types frequent or those who've left the neighborhood return to because it reminds them of the good ol' days. Since I didn't grow up with Q's, I'm sure I could find a much better substitute.

My husband has been going here since high school and it's become a family favorite. Love the pizza and minestrone. Lasagna is HUGE and there is no better meat sauce. We get the frozen quarts of sauce and take it home. The cheesecake alone is worth the trip.

This place has a huge selection but nothing was worth mentioning and the shrimp de-jhong was actually terrible. This is a cafeteria style place with lots of local folks.

It was ok,we waited for a long time before our order was taken, they serve cold bread due to not having a bread warmer, I wanted to ask if there was a microwave near by, prices are inexpensive, did hav 1 complaint, they can't fry Chicken .other than that, its a cool place to eat & hang etc..

4 stars for nostalgia. I grew up a block away and remember when Q's first opened next to the liquor store. It was was OUR pizza place in high school in the early sixties, and its great to read the pizza is still good. A large sausage pie was about $4 then. I was heartbroken last trip back when I saw Villa Marie on S. Hillside Ave. was gone...that was as good as pizza gets. Some of us are marooned on the West Coast, thousands of miles from good pizza and Italian beef sandwiches. Be grateful for what you got, people.

Cindy was our server and was horrible...Unfriendly, never checked back with us and smelled like a big fat nasty cigarette. Pizza was good but I can't say much more than that...Not a good experience at all. Uncomfortable surroundings..I would not go back.

Delicious! I had the cheese ravioli my mom had the lasagna and my boyfriend had the mostacoli (sp?) all were delicious. They delivered fast and the food was warm. The Italian bread thru give is pretty good also.

So I was craving me some pizza tonight, and I came across a menu with coupons that someone had slipped into my mailbox for Q's Restaurant and Pizzeria. I decided to keep it simple and just order garlic bread and pizza. Sadly, the garlic bread was the kind I have lamented in previous reviews--a mixture of butter and garlic powder carelessly slapped onto a sad, half-stale chunk of Italian bread. I could have done without. The pizza, pepperoni and mushroom, was fairly good. The crust was great, and way closer to what I have been looking for in a pizza crust, compared to any of the pizzas I have eaten since moving here. The sauce wasn't bad--it was tangy, which is how I like my sauce. However, the mushrooms were canned, which smacks of laziness, in my mind. Fresh mushrooms are the bomb, yo! Remember that pizza places! Spend a little extra time slicing those suckers up, and it makes the pizza way better. I just can't get down with canned mushrooms.......they're like moist pieces of rubber. Ugh. And oddly enough, we ordered a large pizza, and what we got was the size of most other places' medium pizzas. I know this because, when we normally get a large pizza, there's at least half leftover. But we mowed this sucker down in 15 minutes, and it wasn't cuz we were extra hungry. Not sure if I would order from there again. The search continues.......

This is the place for pizza and anti-pasta salad in the Chicago area. If you don't like the pizza here, go to Domino's with your lack of pizza knowledge.

Yeah, this place has that dive bar/local flare & is as casual as casual gets( I felt overdressed just by wearing a button up shirt) The bread was cold and stale. Our fried calamari ($7.95) weren't too bad even though they looked like onion rings at first. Next were the fresh clams ($11.50 dozen) that seemed kinda sour. The Pasta Fazool was the highlight of our meal. Had amazing flavor & should've ordered one big bowl as the main meal. I was so full from all of my appetizers that I couldn't stomach my Baccala ($10.95). Later on after trying it at home, the fish (decent size) had a light fish taste to it but, had a buttery/lemony sauce that kind of overshadowed the meat. The place had some good specials going for them. On Fridays, you got a free beer or a glass of wine if you ordered veal, baccala, or shrimp. Its definitely not a place I wouldn't recommend going a long distance for , but at the same time, its bar grub pretty much so don't exactly expect it to be the Four Seasons. I also didn't like how they only had 2 beers on tap.

Great food here! Came here with a couple of friends looking for a pizza place, and this place truly has the 'family/friends vibe' about it. Pizza was delicious, the appetizers were great, and wait staff was super friendly. Definitely going to be a repeat costumer.

My family and I have visited Q's several times and have enjoyed it. But we were there 7/30/12 for a family celebration and though the food was good, every course for most of our party of 8 was not warm! The soups were room temperature at best, the meatballs for my grandson's dinner, as well as his angel hair pasta was cold. The pizza bread appetizer was cold. Wow, what was going on in the kitchen! If they were having an issue they should have said something. We mentioned it to our waitress, but, she didn't say much except to ask if we needed our soup reheated! To be fair, she was a good waitress, even thou not very friendly, (only polite), to our table. We were celebrating a birthday, and they did bring us a nice dessert for the birthday person. I was so disappointed, because we aren't used to this type of quality from the place.. I hope it was a one time problem. We're hesitant, but, might give them another chance in the future. It's too bad with so many restaurants around that they wouldn't have been very concerned about our issue with the food.

The pizza is just OK. The crust although nice and thin is flakey and like a pastry crust. The service was very good and its a nice neighborhood place to take the kids. But, not worth a long trip for someone looking for good thin crust pizza .

My friend is a bartender here and her uncle is also the owner of this small restaurant/bar in Hillside. I really like their food here...it is very fresh and almost everything is homemade daily. Their pizza is phenomenal, if you like really thin crust, like I do. They also have very good pastas with homemade sauces and their gnocchi are homemade, which means they are delicious!! They also have an awesome pizza bread as an appetizer that is to die for...if you ever just want to go to the bar for some drinks, make sure at least to order this! They can get pretty busy on the weekends but they have a bar attached to it so you can always sit in there while you are waiting, which is nice. As far as the bar area, which is open till 2 AM, just like a regular bar; I probably wouldn't ever go there except for the fact that my friend works there so we will once once in a while. It is a small dive-type bar that usually has the same small group of regulars and most them are older, kind of perverted men, so if you're not into that, then maybe just stick to the food. But my friend is a great bartender, so maybe stop in just to say hi to her! Overall, I LOVE the food here and the service is pretty good, that's what keeps me coming back...I can do without the bar, though.

I grew up over here, and every now and then I come home to the place that introduced me to the world of Chicago style thin crust pizza, cut into squares with homemade Italian sausage- Q's in Hillside, IL. And after all these years, they are still family owned and operated, and one of the best Chicago style thin crust pizzas with homemade Italian sausage around. For Pete's sake, Marie is still working the tables even at her advanced age, and doing it very well, too. Q's is as old school, no frills, blue collar, tavern style pizza as you can get. They are truly the last of a dying breed in and around the Chicago area. The Q's sign outside the restaurant is a landmark in and of itself. That sign has always screamed great pizza to everybody who grew up in the neighborhood, and everybody else who has ever had the privilege to step into the place. If you're looking for overpriced (very overpriced) Neapolitan pizzas with wood burning ovens or other trendier/hipster "artisinal" pizza styles, then go somewhere else (And by the way, what the hell is "artisinal" pizza anyway?!?!!? We're Chicagoans- we like homemade Italian sausage, whole milk mozzarella, and great tomato sauce- the classics. The things that actually make up a great pizza- you know, those little things... LOL). But if you're looking for old fashioned, Chicago style thin crust pizza with homemade Italian sausage, then please allow Q's to introduce you to their version of a Chicago classic. Q's has something the other greats in the world of Chicago style thin crust pizza lack- balance. Please allow me to explain. Some places have world class sausage, but their tomato sauce is lacking (i.e. Pizano's thin crust, Lou Malnati's thin crust). And some places just have world class sausage, but their cheese is nothing to write home about (i.e. Joe's Italian Villa). Thankfully, Q's gets it all right in one neat package through their balance of outstanding cheese, great sausage, and great tomato sauce. In particular, what really makes Q's great is the balance between their cheese and their tomato sauce. The natural oils from the cheese are perfectly balanced and intertwined with their tasty, perfectly seasoned tomato sauce. Don't make the mistake of blotting the top of the pizza with a napkin because you will miss out on the flavor explosion that is this natural intertwining of the oils from Q's cheese and their outstanding tomato sauce. This natural intertwining between the oils from Q's outstanding cheese and their very tasty tomato sauce is what sets Q's apart from many other pizza places that just make greasy thin crust pizza. This is the natural balance of the oils from the cheese and the tomato sauce that only Q's gets right, but the vast majority of other pizza places never get right. As a result of this perfect balance between the natural oils and the tomato sauce, Q's bottom crust is softer and not as crisp as other Chicago classics like Vito and Nick's and Joe's Italian Villa in Palos Heights. Thus, if you like a softer bottom crust on your thin crust pizza, then Q's is the perfect pizza for you. And if you're in the mood for something else other than great Chicago style thin crust pizza, then you're in for a treat because Q's still makes some of the best homemade Gnocchi anywhere. Their Chicken Ala Q's (Q's version of chicken vesuvio) is awesome, too, along with their large pan of sausage and peppers if you're having a catered party in their party room. Their Chicken Ala Q's is my favorite chicken vesuvio anywhere. And that's saying a lot because there's some really good chicken vesuvio here in Chicago. And Q's still features their signature Italian hot pepper bread on every table before your meal. Delicious. Over the years, I've had numerous family parties in their party room- everything from my son's baptism to my daughter's first birthday party, to just meeting up with old neighborhood friends on a Friday night. Q's has never failed me, and they never will. They will ALWAYS represent the classic example of the friendly neighborhood, blue collar bar/restaurant. There is not a better place to enjoy a nice family dinner on a Friday night (or any night for that matter) or to watch the Bears On Monday Night Football/Hawks/Cubs/Sox game with friends at the bar. If I could post this review somehow, someway in the Chicago Sun Times or the Chicago Tribune, I would. But I'm just your average, every day, blue collar Chicago guy, who happened to be fortunate enough to have grown up in the Berkeley/Hillside area. I'm not some snooty food writer. I'm normal, and I wouldn't have grown up anywhere else in the world. For many of us (and I'm talking entire generations of families from Berkeley, Hillside, Westchester, Bellwood, Villa Park, and Elmhurst), Q's will always represent great service, great food, great times, and only the best of memories. It was great to come home. PERFECTION.

Went there yesterday after Brookfield zoo what a delightful restaurant excellent service and excellent food what a hidden gem.

Love Qs pizza!! Local spot, close to office and takes good care of our pizza needs (Dynamic mfg). Thin pizza can be asked for as double dough. Very good shrimp too.

Delicious The bar is filled with local friendly faces and the staff is part of the experience.

Food was good . Pizza had allllot of that corn bread type mix stuff . But the spaghetti meat sauce was ooooo so yummy

Best gnocchi ever! I have been here a number of times over the years and they never fail no matter what they serve. Old school neighborhood place with a bar attached.

My daughter had her sons communion party catered from here. Everything she ordered was a 10 or above. My grandkids couldn't get enough of the baked mostaccholi, and neither could I. Best catered food I've had in a very long time.

Q's. Used to love you. Had to leave you. Last couple of pizzas were just flat out gross.

Q's pizza is amazing. I've been eating here since I was a kid...it's some of the best pizza around ChicagoLand. A must eat for any pizza lover.

You couldn't have much more of an authentic Italian restaurant. Great food! Mike, the owner, comes around to the tables & chats with you. I've never been in here without seeing him. It's good to see pride in one's business.

Lol

I have been going to Q's for nearly 30 years and it is still the best value in town! Every entrée includes bread, soup, and salad. The wait staff is friendly and fast. Great place and great food!!
