Out on a long weekend motorcycle ride my girlfriend and I stopped here at breakfast time. We rode past it first, decided it looked like a good stop so we wheeled around and popped in for breakfast. I'm glad we stopped. Great breakfast menu. We got solid service right away. The dining room looked like a mix of local and travelers. From the big menu we settled on sharing a big breakfast wrap. Nice to see some things on the menu that weren't the ordinary fare. It was FAN-TAS-TIC and huge. If we're back in the area we'll definitely stop here again.

Worth the drive South of 20 on 84. Substantially sized entrees and sandwiches at a very good price. I just tried the tasty Philly Beef Steak sandwich with freshly sautéed onions and peppers. My dad enjoyed the open faced breaded pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes.

Good small town cafe. They cater to a lot of local groups. The waitresses are great and always nice. The sandwiches are good and the dinner entrees are better than you might expect from the looks of the place. If you're driving through and looking for a bite, it's worth a stop.

I had the breakfast steak wrap/burrito, it was very good. Our waitress was very upbeat and happy to share her menu fav's, and checked on us frequently. The menu is big. It should be posted online, so that people know it serves more than just the basics.

My husband and i eat at Charlie's with our children often. The waitresses are very nice & always attentive. The food is always properly prepared the way we ask and tastes phenomenal. The price is just right & we never have to wait long. My boy's (ages 20, 18, 11, 9 & 4 mos) are always satisfied and that makes me happy.

Yelp, you got me! After probably the 100th time of you suggesting I review this business after checking in, I have finally given in. Heck, I could use another "First" to hit 200 so here I go. After leaving Rocky Waters Vineyard and Winery on the backroads of surrounding Galena, we were starving. I pulled up Yelp's app on my iPhone with everything appearing to be in Galena proper backtracking 20 miles. I then search Google for the closest town with "Hanover, IL restaurants" and without a doubt, Charlie's Place appeared. With a population under 1,000, it doesn't surprise me that it is Hanover's only eatery, or that there were crowds. We were stepping in just after the busy lunch peak and got all the "you're not from here are ya" looks. We sat down in the "newer" building which still lacked any form of decor. There was a breakfast buffet still cooking away that did not appear to be very appetizing---even though I love some good farm cookin'. I ended up with a comforting creamy chicken soup, of course with oyster crackers. My entree was a fried chicken sandwich with bacon that was recommended by the waitress as her favorite item. I honestly think the chicken was slaughtered in the back of the restaurant because that was some deliciously, fresh chicken! Not to mention, the prices are a steal. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, as I would expect any small town to be. Yet, Charlie's lost one star because they really got to do something about the interior. It could appear on Restaurant Impossible for God's sake!
