So this review is teetering between 3 and 4 stars but what the hey, 4 stars it is (can I really give an ice cream shop less than 4 stars??). A walk up ice cream place with plenty of options from shakes, to freezees, smoothees, cones, sundaes, floats, and more. So many things that I wanted to try, they even had a puppy chow freezee as their special for the night, which seemed to be pretty popular! Went with a friend and I got the mini funnel cake and the small strawberry cone. Can't really go further in description, it was what it was. The funnel cake was cute, and only $1.50! What a steal. This is one of the first ice cream shops that I've noticed that sells strawberry soft serve in addition to the regular chocolate & vanilla. Prices were very good, the cone and the funnel cake all together were less than $3. As for seating, they have a good number of tables and benches. Parking was aplenty. Definitely worth stopping by if you are in the neighborhood.

Good ice cream , terrible service. I ordered when all the girls were there, and once I wanted to place my order girls were rude, like i was bothering them during their gossip time . Sorry kids do your job. It's customer service no one likes it but it's not about you it's about the service.

A nice little, Ma & Pa type place. The kids that work here are good, they keep very busy and do a good job. During the summer months, you can expect to see long lines during the twilight hours, but the line moves along well. The ice-cream machine they use are in good working order, as you generally don't get that ice-crystal taste like you do at some locations. I usually keep it simple and choose between vanilla with chocolate sprinkles or just plain chocolate. I generally don't get their sundays as I feel they are a bit pricy for what you get.

Amazing mozzarella sticks, and other food items are good as well. Ice cream is good, and I love to get a pup cup for the dog. Prices on some items seem a a bit high, but overall I enjoyed the food. The slushy tasted pretty bad though. Just tasted really fake and the syrup quality was bad. They should consider having real fruit in them overall good and I'd recommend it

I think this Tastee Freez is the cutest and it's in downtown Grayslake so it's a lovely warm day outing to check out the many unique little shops, and then reward yourself for all the calories you burned walking with a sweet treat! :) Kids and families love sitting at the benches (there are quite a few) outside on a lazy summer night nibbling on desserts. I picked up a cake batter shake that was delish, and managed to keep a frozen banana in my purse actually frozen for 30 minutes before I was able to give it to my friend! LOL I can't wait to try the funnel cakes another yelper mentioned. I wonder how many of those will fit in my purse...

Grayslake hot spot on warm summer evenings... It has a nice townie feel and is popular with the kids sports teams. But honestly, their soft serve ice cream isn't good. It's tasteless and watery. Other than location, this place is sub par. Culver's custard and even (gasp) McDonald's have better ice cream.

The Grayslake Tastee Feeze is one of those unique iconic gems you just don't find anymore! It brings back so many memories of hanging out at the local ice cream shop as kids on a hot summer night. The ice cream is awesome and the food is great! What makes me rate this spot with 5 stars is not only the ice cream and food, but the owner! John Santner is such an asset to our community! He is the first one to step up and donate to charity events and does so without expecting anything in return. He is an example of what small local business owners should be like in a community. As a strong supporter of locally owned establishments and Director on the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce, I say support a local guy who hires local high school and college kids and gives back to the community he calls home! Stop by for a great experience, awesome service and a flash back in time!!! Greg Koeppen

Can't go wrong headed here for ice cream treats. Lines at night are always long and into the street, but it moves fast - don't be intimidated. Lots of options and variety, and its a fun place to hang out with lots of other people. Bring the dog for a pup cup! (Ice cream and a milk bone). Never had their actual food, only ice cream.

Tasted Freeze gives any town that little town feeling. Our towns is great and always delivers the sweets. No complaints over the past 19 years!

Best ice cream ever. I get the banana nut freeze and it never disappoints. I never hate on the cheese fries and pizza puff either. Shhh... Great small-town feel - I will be going to this place as long as it's open!

The place has changed a little since I worked there...er...over 20 years ago (has it really been *that* long?!). The menu is close to the same (although, the chicken sandwich I remember is no longer listed), but I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and fries and it was tasty. They have added treats, like a mint Oreo shake and a cake batter freeze.

I LOVE ice cream, especially soft-serve. While I appreciate the small-town feel and location in downtown Grayslake I just don't think the actual ice cream is that good!!! It almost tastes artificial to me, just low quality. Don't kill me but...Dairy Queen is better!

Walking to Tastee Freez on a hot summer's evening is one of my most favorite things I love about living in a small town. Everything they serve is wonderful. The service is fantastic. I have never ever been disappointed with Tastee Freez and highly recommend it to everyone.
