It's an American diner, very popular with the rural community and plenty roomy to accommodate lots of patrons. I've been to Busy Corner five or six times. Here are the pluses: * Great coffee and absolutely, unequivocally INCREDIBLE pies * Breakfast served all day * Good value for your money * Always very clean dining room and bathrooms * Convenient location right off I-74 * Plenty of parking, including large vehicles * Consistently friendly and attentive waitstaff Of all the times I have been to Busy Corner, it's typically been for breakfast. Good food at a good price. Great biscuits and gravy, delicious French toast, and it's hard to complain about eggs or bacon anywhere. Tonight I ordered off the dinner menu for the first time. I ordered the bacon-wrapped, charbroiled pork tenderloin with baked potato and coleslaw. The slaw came out first and was tasty if a little wetter than I'd prefer. Not vinegary slaw, but mayo/salad dressing based. It lacked something, and now after some reflection it strikes me that what it was missing was celery seed. That would have been a great improvement. However, it was obviously homemade. The pork was a disappointment. I prefer a moist, closer to medium pork loin, but this one was very well done, and as a result very dry. I had to request Heinz 57 in order to eat it. There was also a skewer going through the meat that probably should have been removed before I cut into it with my knife. Not even the smallest bit of it had been protruding from the surface, so I had no idea it was even there. The potato was not hot and I suspect had been cooked much earlier in the day. The butter barely even melted. In the interest of full disclosure, I did not complain to the server, and she may well have made it right given the chance. I was part of a large bus group of nearly 50 people and didn't want to hold up the group waiting for another dish. Also, as we were a sizable group, the kitchen may very well have been slightly overwhelmed. To their credit, they did a fantastic job of coordinating the timing of everyone's dishes, and I heard nothing but good feedback from the others in my party.

Has the best apple pie I've ever eaten. That's no exaggeration either. You must try the pie when you go there that in itself is worth it.

There was three of us eating and our food came out quickly and everything was cooked to order and was very good for as busy as it was in there. Service was great with plenty of refills given. I ordered the liver and onions dinner which was flavorful and very tender and for sides i got american fries crisp and cole slaw. I do think that the slaw could be slightly sweeter but it was very crunchy and fresh. My mom got a patty melt and fries with slaw and my friend got the hot beef sandwich which i have raved about before. Overall a very enjoyable lunch!

When I used to live in the area I was a regular here. I would bring friends and family from out of town and we always had a great breakfast, lunch and dinner at a very fair price and good quality homemade food. At most places you skip dessert at the end. You cannot skip the pies here and take one with you if you can't eat it there. You won't be disappointed in the turtle, peanut butter pie, banana cream pie and apple pie. The place is clean, has lots of space for groups and you can get in and out for $10-15 per person with a full belly. Give it a try, breakfast there is a favorite with a piece of pie to go for lunch.

I've eaten here at least 20 times in recent years --- its a few miles from the retirement community my parents moved to and its a far better option than most of the other small-town cafe type restaurants we've tried. The menu is not that unusual or special: lots of other resturants offer vary similiar fare. But the quality of the food is much higher in my opinion. They are known for their fried chicken and you can't go wrong with that (if your diet allows!); they also have non-fried alternative. Definitely don't miss the pies; there is always a large selection, nicely displayed, and delicous. The lemon merinque is one of my favorites; the various berry pies are very good too. The coffee is watered down resturant type coffee --- I would avoid it unless you are desperate, it not bad tasting, just not strong enough. I should also mention that this is a very economical place to eat -- I'm always astounded at how low the prices are. The resturant is roomy, new looking and comfy in sort of a country-kind of way without being too cutesy. We've always had prompt polite and friendly service here.

I recently met some friends here for breakfast for a destination ride. I've been here 2 other times, once for breakfast and once for pie and coffee. This was an old local diner that has been around for years with a good reputation. About 2 years ago they moved from their old building into a big new building. Unfortunatly, I feel they lost a lot of their quality in their growth. Their pies are worthy of 4 stars, but their breakfast is mediocre on a good day. Unfortunatly, this visit, I caught them on a bad day. My wife ordered a Skillet Breakfast, and despite what she ordered, she found out their only skillet option consists of hashbrowns with a 2 egg omlet on top covered with gravy or cheese sauce - $7.95. No peppers or onions anywhere to be found on the skillet. ??? I decided to try their "special receipe" blueberry pancakes - tall stack. They consisted of 3 pancakes about 5" in diameter. Seriously, pancake batter cost next to nothing to make, an average should not be able to finish a tall stack of pancakes. Anyway, the pancakes were burnt on one side and undercooked on the other. Very little flavor and no fluff to the hot cakes. They should have never been allowed to leave the kithcen. I should have sent them back, but it had already been a long wait and I did not feel like waiting so I could eat by myself. Bottom line, $18.00 for breakfast and coffee for 2, and I walked away still hungry and disappointed with a bad meal. Usually when breakfast cost that much in a small town, you get more food then you can eat. If you are in the area - go for pie, but skip breakfast.

I'm a breakfast fanatic. I could eat breakfast all day, every day. Some of my family loves Busy Corner, so I tried it out for the first time last week. For my meal, I had the Heritage Special. It comes with two scrambled eggs, 2 strips of bacon and a half portion of biscuits and gravy. It was awesome! I love biscuits and gravy but I also wanted eggs, so this was perfect. The coffee was good as well. Service was friendly and our waitress made sure our coffee cups were never empty. The interior and bright and clean, which a lot of seating. The bathrooms were really clean as well. I have heard that their homemade pies are their specialty, so I will have to come back to try a slice. They have a big variety in the case. I will definitely be back!

We were quite disappointed with the Busy Corner. We had high hopes that this restaurant would become one of our regular spots. I had breakfast a couple weeks ago and it was great. Decided to try supper last night and was very unimpressed with the food. I expected a great meal for supper, but unfortunately the supper does not match the quality of breakfast. I had a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. The chicken fried steak was not made in house but was a cheap frozen steak. The mashed potatoes were instant and not even homemade. The gravy was a package gravy and didn't appear to be homemade. My wife had the baked chicken special and it was barely lukewarm. The high spot for our meal was the cinnamon butter that was served with the bread. The pies are ok. The chocolate cream pie was basically a premade pie shell with chocolate pudding and whipped cream. I could not believe that the Busy Corner did not use fresh ingredients. I would have used fresher ingredients if I had stayed home and cooked. I could have prepared a better meal at home for 1/3 the cost. I will probably not return for supper in the future, but would consider returning for breakfast. Our server was excellent and took great care of us. It was not her fault that the restaurant serves subpar food. Anyway, there are better places out there to eat for supper and I would recommend that you keep driving until you find another place to stop.

Classic diner fare. Nice location right off of 74. The restaurant was bright and clean. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. My turkey melt was delicious. I wish I'd been here for breakfast. The pies looked amazing. Only downside: RC Cola!

We enjoyed our visit this morning. Good breakfast and great atmosphere. Clean wide walking lanes, perfect for my mom with her walker. Great parking lot for handicapped. The pies are great we grabbed a few slices to eat later on our way out. We had a good breakfast that was not huge. Many places it seems wants to push you to huge breakfast at a higher price. Here the prices were modest and we could get the size we wanted. We will return.

Good food at reasonable prices. We've been here for breakfast and dinner and just for pie. The regular food is good but the homemade pies are excellent. Minus one star for the bad coffee. We'd eat breakfast here more often if they at least had decent coffee.

small town dining at its best: This place is off of I-74 and is a place you want to go to. I don't give to many places 5 stars but when i do there's a reason behind it. This is the place to get good solid home cooking and excellent desserts. Its also priced fairly so you won't go broke after you leave there. My girl & I ate here one Sunday night and i had the fried chicken. Its beer battered chicken and its the best around the area. Its hard to find good fried chicken anymore so this would be the place to go. i also had there stuffed green pepper soup which was really tasty and good.My girl had the fish and she really enjoyed that and commented how good it was. Busy corner is very famous for there pies and for good reason there all homemade. I got the chocolate creme pie and it was out of this world. If your looking for a good homemade small town cooking this is the place to go, go there and you will not regret it.

The Busy Corner has been around for decades. It recently moved from its old location to a new one a block closer to the freeway. Not a chain restaurant. Family owned and operated. Fantastic, varied menu. Great service. The Busy Corner is as good as it gets. It's located on Illinois 117 at Highway 74 (exit 112), at the southern edge of Goodfield.

Terrible, terrible breakfast!! This is the second time we have stopped for breakfast. It will be the last! Eggs overdone. Gravy was pure flour. Biscuit was all flour. Wait staff disappeared. Could t even get a second cup of coffee. I would not recommend this place!

After reading the reviews on Yelp, we stopped here on a Sunday pm. Long line waiting to be seated but we were called after 15 minutes. We both ordered the special prime rib dinner. Excellent! From the reviews we knew we had to order the pie. Cinnamon apple for him, caramel apple for me. The reviews were right. They were both deeelicious!! and the service was excellent.

First timer had breakfast before Sunday morning golf and was pleased. I had the Heritage breakfast which is 2 scrambled eggs 4 pieces of bacon and a half order of biscuits and gravy. Service was prompt and friendly considering I was only somewhat responsive nursing a slight hangover. Food came out fast and being a gravy snob I found the biscuits and gravy were up to par top notch. So left full and pleased and would recommend this spot for breakfast. I have heard about their pies too may have to stop for that next trip.

I go to college an hour away from this place and the drive to get pie is worth it. They have cheesecake pies, chocolate pies, and fruit pies. If you don't know what to order you should try their triple berry pie. I've only had dinner here once and everything was delicious and the waiter was really friendly. This spot is a good place for the whole family and it's reasonably priced. Every pie I have tried here has been superb and i wish i could try them all!

Great breakfast! Classic diner. Very friendly service. Great prices too! Breakfast available all day. I had Farmers French Toast with bacon, sausage and eggs and it filled me up. Hubby had Western Omelet with hash browns and gravy and it filled him up too.

Absolutely love this place! Great service, great prices, great food! Heard of it through several recommendations when I had mentioned I'd be visiting the area. Some of the best home cooking comfort food I've had in a long time! Taco salad: My friend said it was very good. Doesn't come in a taco bowl, but I think it had tortilla chips in it? They gave him plenty of salsa and sour cream! Turkey Melt: I think this was the name of it. Very tasty and comes with a sandwich sauce that you dip it in made of (trying to remember) French, Thousand Island, Ranch....maybe it was just those 3 things...I might be missing one item. Mashed Potatoes: This was just a side with my sandwich, but wow, are they good! Cookie Dough Cheesecake; They have soooo many fresh baked pie slices and cheesecake...I mean a lot. The dessert menu was overwhelming. I had to go to the case and just look. One of the servers asked if I wanted help and proceeded to tell me what each one was called. There must have been 30 different ones! Oh, and yes, the cookie dough cheesecake rocked! I wasn't even going to order dessert but just had to after the lunch was good and the selection of dessert was so large.

Stopped by there with my little kiddo and liked the place. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, which was tasty. Why they put American cheese on it, I'm not sure. I probably should have specified something else, but that's ok. I guess I just wasn't expecting American cheese on that. I had a side of homemade chips, which were a little soggy but tasted pretty good. My son got Mac n cheese with fries and a chicken strip. His food was pretty good. Now, the highlight: the pie!! They have a very good selection of pies that all looked wonderful! I ordered a strawberry pie and it was the best pie I've had in a long time. I will definite return just for the pie.

Busy? Yes. Corner? Not quite, at least not with this location :-) The parking lot will be full and you think to yourself... I don't really want to wait. Then you get inside and say "Wow, this place is huge!" And the hostess greets you with a big smile as if you're old friends and sits you down right away. Unless of course you've opted to sit at the counter with the regular old dudes. But being that you're new and you don't want to take someone's space you opt for a table. Paraded past a case of pies you start to think "I can have pie for breakfast right?" The hostess notices you've gotten sidetracked and reminds you that you can take one home with you :-) Good idea. Then you sit down and discover the following: - The creamer is on the table in a tiny metal pitcher and its cold. This coupled with the real sugar in a tall glass container (old school) and you realize you can't tell anyone if the coffee is good or not because you fill it with so much stuff you'd never know. - The breakfast menu has more choices that you thought, and you're disappointed to learn that you don't have the option of pancakes instead of toast. But you are mildlly entertained by the tiny glasses of water on the table. - Your waitress is really nice and smiles a lot. She gets your coffee fast and keeps it refilled and hot. She also recommends the sausage patties instead of sausage links. You later regret following her advice because the patties are just little frozen circles. Perhaps your expectations of fresh breakfast sausage are too high. No they aren't. - When the Blueberry Pancakes arrive all looks good, and the waitress kindly brings blueberry syrup (by Smuckers) in case you want that too. But you don't, because its crazy thick and sugary. Also you are disappointed to learn that the syrup is not real maple syrup as you had inferred from the menu. And while the pancakes taste good, they aren't anything special. They taste as pancakes should taste, but you wanted more. Again with those darn high standards. - Looking at your husband who has ordered a Western Omelette you quickly realize he is disappointed that the ingredients don't taste fresh, which is a bummer when you order veggies. However the hashbrowns are done perfectly and he is quite happy with that. Overall you leave feeling full, satisfied and no crazy sticker shock from the $20 check. Everything was good, but not great. But if you're going to drive 25 minutes from Bloomington to Goodfield, you're looking for greatness. So you will keep looking...

Busy Corner is VERY well known for their pies. Such a great place to get a pie for a party, holiday dinner or just because. My favorite is the chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake...so good! Definitely try Ron's homemade tenderloin (SO big and really tasty), this is really Ron (one of the cooks) family recipe and their fried chicken is pretty darn good too! Definitely kid friendly, great for groups but be sure to call ahead to make a reservation on the weekends! Great for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or just dessert & coffee at the counter! Check it out!

As an Iced tea lover, I love to have it every day with lunch. I have clients in this area and find myself here once a week. Six months ago, I ordered lunch and my usual Iced tea (unsweetened) and almost lost my stomach contents due to the bad taste from a tea holding tank that had not been cleaned and had soured. I brought this to the attention of my server, who totally ignored me and texted on her cell phone. I returned occasionally and had two more bad experiences. The last time, three weeks ago, I talked with a tall blonde haired male manager who tasted the tea, totally agreed with me and said he would fix the problem permanently. I went in this last Thursday and had the same problem. Very sour tea, it turned my stomach so badly that I canceled my order. The waitress (the one who ignored me the first time) offered to get me tea from a different source. I explained how my stomach had turned and left. I was able to eat about an hour later and went to a small bar in Deer Creek who has the courtesy to wash their tea container before they refill it. Would you drink from a dirty glass? Drinking from a tea container that has not been cleaned is very similar. If the help ignores something this simple, how many other food containers are not being cleaned properly? Not going back, I will not give my hard earned money to any business that does not care. I have worked in food service as much of my family has, I am not that hard to please and I ALWAYS TIP AT LEAST 20% OR MORE! I know how hard it is to work in a restaurant. I rarely criticize food service unless it is horrible and repetitive. I called and left a message asking the owner to call me (he is on vacation). He needs to know how his help is running HIS restaurant!! I was asked if I wanted to speak to the manager on duty, but what is the point? Already tried that.......

The fried mushrooms came out steaming hot and were delicious. My main course came out lukewarm and lacking in flavor. Waitress almost sneezed on me while refiling my iced tea. She clearly wasn't feeling very good as her service consisted of asking what we wanted and then dropping the plate of food in front of me. I stopped drinking the iced tea after the sneeze, but this wasn't much of a loss because it wasn't very good iced tea. One glimmer of hope for this place is the pie. The rhubarb pie was delicious and came out nice and hot with a delicious scoop of ice cream on top. So if you feel compelled to visit this place, go for dessert, otherwise go elsewhere.
