When I first heard Bison Burger I was a bit skeptical to even try it like really who eats bison?? lol But to my surprise it's amazing!! and taste a whole heck of a lot better than a regular burger. So I've come to this place twice and both times I leave happy and content with both the service and the food!!.. I usually get the Kitchen Sink medium well please topped with a nice over easy egg, bacon, mushroom, cheese, onions the works baby!! My dear friend and I NEVER seem to stray away from this one as it's just so damn good!!! The first time we came we order the Kitchen sink and for appetizer we had the chili nachos that are a meal on it's own and freakin AMAZING!!! This second time we came we ordered a crab cake that was really good, it was garnished with guacamole and cole slaw. The guacamole was pretty good as we both enjoyed it. I am not a fan of cole slaw so I cant say if it was good or not but my friend seemed to enjoy it. However the crab cake it self was rather small to be shared as an appetizer if there are more than two people at the table. But for my first time having it, it was really good and we both devoured that sucker like no tomorrow lol. Both experiences we've had the waitresses have been very friendly and attentitive and there isn't much wait time from the time we ordered until the time we got our food. Once we get our food everything is nice and warm and the fries... Well let's just say they are secretely my second favorite part of the meal lol.. The portion of the burger is HUGE I usually only eat half but save the rest for later lol.. We both are always happy and would recommend this place to anyone willing to try a nice BIG bison burger.!!

I love this place!! They have great service!! I have a food allergy and the manager came out to speak to me personally to let me know what I could and could not eat. My boyfriend and I went in many more times and the servers and the manager always remember us and say hi. I love the manager there, she is wonderful!!! Now, on to the food. DELICIOUS!!! ALWAYS FRESH!!! And the timing is great!! Its not terribly expensive and I prefer eating here to wildfire!!!!

I love Ted's. When my lady and I can't decide where to go, Ted's has become our default. When we come in the door we are always met with quick and friendly service, not to mention the fantastic retro-rustic ambiance that is simply comforting and pleasant. This is all before we order and receive our dinner and appetizers, which of the latter will invariably their nearly divine onion rings. For the main course it will usually be either a bison steak or burger, which are always cooked to juicy perfection. The few times we've had desert it has been just as delectable if not more so than dinner. Because of all these reasons and more Ted's is and will be a staple in our nights out for years to come.

We don't love venturing to the 'burbs to eat at a chain, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. We have been to Ted's a few times, but this most recent time was great. We both got the salt and pepper trout which came with tomatoes and grilled asparagus. It's so hard to find a healthy option at a lot of places, but this was perfect for our diets. The fish was so flavorful and filling and the sides were perfect. We had great service. Sunday is their turkey dinner special (which my grandma loved) and it looked delicious - roast turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, the works. 60/365

I love this place. Their bison burgers are so much better than any other burgers out there. I usually get the Naked burger, medium rare. Ive had their other bison burgers like the New Mexico, Vermejo, and the Mushroom Swiss burgers (all delicious), but the Naked has become my usual. It doesn't need to be dressed up in anything because the bison is so good. It melts in your mouth. Their fries are awesome and so are their desserts. I've had their milkshakes. One of those is enough for two people. I've also had their apple crisp and more recently the strawberry shortcake. The waiters and waitresses are very nice and knowledgeable and FAST! I have never had to wait long for a table or for the food. The service, like their food, is top notch.

First visit, and I really liked it. The ambience is great, and we had a fantastic server. Portions were good, food was tasty, kids enjoyed their meals, too. I had the duo so that I could compare the beef and bison, but I really didn't taste a big difference. I'd order the bison again.

Burgers are the way to go here. And why not go lean and get a bison burger? I got a take out cheeseburger earlier this week, and it was quite the satiating meal. The only downside: there was a single triangle of cheese atop the mass of meat. Ted doesn't skimp on the meat, but he sure does on the cheese.

Teds is a great place for lunch or dinner. Great western, wyoming-like atmosphere and decor, but no televisions in view if you are not sitting at the bar FYI. Anything with bison on the menu is awesome, namely the bison burgers and bison meatloaf. Good sides, especially the onion rings. Service is just as good from my experiences.

We had EXCELLENT service and the meal was fantastic! Our chips were perfect and that dip... I could eat with a spoon. The burgers were cooked perfectly. My insanely picky 10 year old said this is now his favorite place!

Had a great Fathers Day meal with my family. I love the sunday turkey dinner but I had to have more bison with those onion rings crisp and full of favor. This place has such fresh food , comfortable atmosphere and jolly staff even on a holiday like today. Be back next sunday for some turkey

over rated and over priced. $50 for two bison burgers and 2 beers! Five Guys has better burgers and more reasonable pricing. Tried it because Ted Turner is involved but will not go back.

I know, I know. I give a lot of five star ratings. But honestly, I don't bother rating stuff that's merely "meh". Only the extremes get my time. This restaurant is a favorite of the Manfriend, and me as well. Helpful staff, delicious food, good atmosphere, it's pretty much tops. Never have to wait more than a moment or two for a booth (though we tend to go on the early side to dinner), and the prices seem reasonable for what they're giving you. The Avalon burger is amazing. The bison nachos are delicious. Even the mixed drinks are great, and they don't have to be. Though I appreciate that they are delicious. Order the bison when you go - - - it's their specialty and you won't be disappointed. I agree with other reviewers - - - order it medium rare. Don't overcook it because it'll turn into awful-rock-of-meat. It's an affront to man and country! Great place for the ladies to take a more, ahem, "rustic", gentleman on a classy date that will satisfy both sides. Or heck, great place for a lad to take a "rustic" lady on a classy date. Can't be getting all gendered up in here. In short, go. More than likely, you won't be sorry you did.

Arrived at the dinner hour, no reservation, we wanted a booth and the only option was alongside the order pick up area. They were upfront about the seating and commotion, but we just wanted a seat so we opted for their solution. First of all it really was not too bad of a seat, if you are going as a group, or just to garb a good meal in a hurry the location would suffice. Anyway, very attentive service, it was kind of a plus to have that seat because I can give them high marks for cleanliness, efficiency, etc, all the backroom stuff you generally do not see, we say, and I was impressed. Food: Great. I had the three slider combo, my Wife had the bison burger. Fantastic. Fries, great, natural not greasy, nice salads very fresh ingredients. It is our new Hackney's.

You really can't go wrong with Ted's in Glenview. The service, food and facility are excellent. If your going have the Bison - very tasty!

The Bison Burgers are awesome and leaner then ground beef, but order it Medium Rare because it is a very lean meat. I had the new England Clam chowder and it was great. think and loaded with clams. The Red Rock Chicken sandwich was incredible as was the shrimp appetizer. Another in our party had the Cedar Planked Salmon which was moist and flaky and delicious. The service was top notch and although it has been 4 years since I was here last time, it still remains one of my favorites when I'm in Glenview.

I had hoped that maybe the reviews were wrong... husband was told by a friend that he should try it out, and the idea of bison burgers was one I would jump on board for. Husband had the bison burger, I wasn't in the mood for a burger so I got chicken... and while mine was good, the kids did not enjoy their 'sliders' and the bison burger lacked flavor entirely! The one thing we had that was really quite good was the spinach dip, which wasn't even on the menu, but absolutely delicious! Unfortunately it was not enough to get us to come back.

Four stars for the food. Service is another matter. (Read on.) The food is hot and the menu varied. Live nearby and I have had many different items - fish, beef, chicken, bison. This is not a venue for the vegetarian inclined. After all, the Ted is no other than beef eating media baron Ted Turner. I heartily recommend the salt and pepper trout, the roasted chicken and the salmon. The beef and bison entrees are also good. Not the best cuts, but pretty good and reasonably priced. The kitchen sometimes can overdo it with the seasoning. Ask before you order. My main beef (no pun intended) with the place is its service. It can range from average to poor. I was there last night and it took 15 minutes to get a drink at the bar since the two bartenders largely ignored me. I realize they were busy mixing drinks for patrons who already had tables. I don't mind waiting, but it would be nice to be acknowledged and told how much time until it was my turn. What about the table service? It is mediocre and sometimes slow to nonexistent. If the restaurant is slow you get OK service. But when it is busy, expect long waits. Last night is a good example. Fifteen minutes after sitting down, someone dropped a entree near our table and splashed all of us with gravy. Mistakes happen. But the wait-staff kind of brushed it off and just offered us a few napkins so we clean up the mess. Many better-managed restaurants would have sent the manager over to apologize. Then there is the issue of our waiter. We had to continually ask him to bring things which he didn't. He failed to follow direction (e.g. salad with dressing on the side - and the dressing comes on the salad.) We finally gave up and just tried to enjoy the evening. So, The bottom line is - pretty good food, nice menu and OK prices. But don't expect much when it comes to service.

Bison is good, burger decent. Summer Sangrias are very nice. It's a good place in a mall-like atmosphere. Been here at least 10 times now, with guests. No one had a bad word to say about the food.

Great Atmosphere, delicious and healthy food, and the staff is very friendly. There is never a wait which seems very strange to me because the food is so good. If you have never had bison before you are really missing out.

Came here because they have one table left for outdoor seating. Food is average as expected. If you are seeking outdoor seating and this is your only choice, go for the bison meatloaf. Also liked the pickles they give you. Waiter and waitress were nice and polite.

Very friendly service, and a good, solid burger. I had the "New Mexico", since I just got back from a trip to that state and have been missing the food. The NM burger at Ted's is really nothing like any burger that I ate in the Enchanted State, but it was tasty nonetheless. Hand cut fries are always a bonus as well, in this era of frozen products. Lots of options on the menu and in general it's a good place to go if you want to catch a movie at the Glen.

Service: Slow and unfriendly Food: Mediocre Price: Inflated Decor: Classy, warm I like the paper straws, Ted. Way to strike a blow for the earth! Too bad the rest of your restaurant blows. I tried it twice but won't be back.

Deep in mourning for the now-closed Schaumburg Ted's, I tried dinner at this Glenview Ted's, still draped in a black veil. Okay, it was a black scarf, but whatever. Sad yelper was very sad. When we pulled up to the valet area, there was nobody there to park our car. We circled around and came back again, thinking maybe we'd just missed somebody. Nope. Since this is in The Glen, the parking here is, like everywhere in The Glen, kind of ridiculous. We managed to find a spot reasonably close to the restaurant, which is probably a certifiable miracle warranting a call to the Pope, but still. If you don't really have valet, take down the sign, please! My expectations at this point were rapidly falling. I was soon to be surprised, however, by friendly staff, only a five minute wait on a Friday night, a choice of booth or table, and the same tasty pickles showing up on our table that I remember from the Ted's of yore. Also, while it doesn't appear on the menu for some reason, they do have not just regular iced tea but SWEET TEA. Trust me, there is a huge difference between dumping a sugar packet into regular iced tea and actual sweet tea. Ask for it! Maybe they put it back on the menu in the summer, but either way, it turns out I can get it year round. Mmm, mmm, diabetes in a glass..... I do not eat any meat at all, including fish, so I got the skinny dip with a veggie pattie. As always, the avocado at Ted's is fresh and neither too ripe nor too firm. My husband ordered half a chicken and found it did not satisfy his hunger, although that was, in part, because he does not like dark meat and therefore did not eat that portion of the meal. Refills were offered and delivered promptly, the beer selection was equal to that of the Schaumburg location, and the salt & pepper onion rings were crispy to perfection. In short, I will probably end up coming here as often as I visited the Schaumburg location, maybe even more often if they get that valet thing working.

Know that everything in The Glen is a tad overpriced. As in, chili cheese fries, a chopped salad, a burger, and 2 iced tea = almost $40. That's a pretty dollar, no? I enjoyed my time there. Our server was super sweet and the food was alright/mediocre. The chili cheese fries needed less salt and far more cheese - ooey gooey cheese! The salad wasn't too memorable but I liked how they had chick peas, artichokes and salami in there. It was a shame that I had to ask what they had in their salads. The menu descriptions in this department are seriously lacking. Still, as far as suburban "mall" type destinations go, the parking and general roominess of the place makes it a win over Old Orchard. The next time I'm in the mood for a burger, bison in particular, I'll come back here. The booths are crazy comfortable and I like their recyclables everywhere! Paper straws are WEIRD but being green is so trendy now. Good for you Ted!

I'm not sure why this place isn't better rated. We've always had great tasty food. Bison burgers are their specialty. Make sure to ask for the complimentary half-sours! (pickles that aren't as pickly!)

essentially: environmentally friendly (paper straws & recycled paper!), good for burgers, i've eaten their other food and found it overpriced and just ok, but customer service is pretty terrible. I went two weeks ago with friends for their burgers (and to use a restaurant.com certificate), and I have to admit that they're pretty darn good. Huge, juicy, and well seasoned. Their strawberry shake is also really good, made with real strawberries! Our waiter was nice, and informative, but he (or the kitchen?) messed up two of our orders. And the entire place was empty except for us and one other table. Second, the buffalo burgers are supposed to have an American flag on a toothpick stuck in them, but my burger's flag was missing. So did I have buffalo? I honestly couldn't tell you. Lastly, our waiter was nice enough to split up our check into our seats and apply the restaurant.com discount to each seat. He took our credit cards, swiped them, and when our individual bills came the discount was no where to be found. We tried to explain it to him, then tried to explain it to the manager, with no luck. Eventually we just agreed to have one person pay the whole tab and have the discount deducted from there. Unfortunately, we were not only charged on our individual cards (w/o the discount), but one of my friends was charged the whole tab as well. Overcharged AND double charged! I called them the next day after we'd looked at our credit card statements and spoke to the manager on the phone to get it sorted out. Not gonna lie, I expected to get something free out of the deal for being double charged. Not so. I received no apology at all, no incentive to come back, and was just told to "wait a few days" and the cancellation should appear. The manager's tone of voice was cold and unhelpful.

My reactions to this place are contradictory. The aura is in-genuine and manufactured, like Applebee's or Friday's, and the menu seems to try to shock-and-awe you with its size, which I am not receptive to. However I still had fun, our wait staff has always been professional and attentive and most of all I like the bison meat. I've been a fan of bison burgers for many years, but never heard of this chain (it was never in my area before). I don't recommend the bison meatloaf, which I found bland and indiscernible. But I look forward to returning and trying the bison steak.

This our my second time here. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, and the manager also stopped by a couple of times to check on us. My wife and I couldn't decide between the salt and pepper and the almond encrusted trout, so we ordered both and shared. (We liked the salt and pepper better--it brought out more of the flavor in the fish.) The restaurant presents itself as being environmentally friendly, and there are lots of organic options on the menu. Though I did have to explain to our kids why a green restaurant would have a large bison head mounted on the wall. ("Ted is using the WHOLE bison.") Overall, an excellent experience.

We had burgers from lunch and they were excellent. We had a skinny dip bison burger (avocado slices) and a beef burger with grilled onions, Monterey Jack cheese, and mushrooms. The bison burger didn't seem as lean as another we once had and it was a little more greasy, which made it better in my opinion! It must have been an inch thick. If we didn't have to pay $11 per burger, I might go with 5 stars. Will be back sometime.

I was very skeptical the first time I went in here. I generally not a big fan of chains but I had heard pretty good things about this one so I took a risk and took my sister and mom here when they came to visit. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Ted's has a good atmosphere, the staff greeted us with a smile and were very friendly as they took our name for a table as the place was pretty crowded. We took a seat at the bar to wait and I was happy to see that they have a pretty good selection of beer on tap as well as appetizer service while you wait. Needless to say, almost as soon as we got our drinks our table was ready which was much faster than the fifteen minutes we'd been expecting. Our waitress was great and very prompt in refilling our drinks and taking our orders. Ted's also does an interesting thing of putting cucumbers out on the table as a little snack, they were fresh and delicious. I had never had bison before and we were all feeling adventurous so we had the bison nachos as an appetizer. We all agreed that they were delicious. I would definitely order them again. For our main meal my sister and I had bison burgers and my mom had the prime rib. Our burgers were great; bison meat is leaner and has a tangy taste to it that was brought out well in our food. My mom enjoyed her prime rib but did feel it was a little chewy, upon tasting it, I agreed even though it was still pretty good. The salt an peppar onion rings were delicious and unlike onion rings at so many places, were not greasy at all but rather crisp and tasty. The major drawback of this place, as with all places in The Glen, is parking. There were very few spots so we had to walk a fair distance. Also, the valet parking was not very well staffed and people had to wait a fair amount of time. I'm not sure if that service is run by Ted's or The Glen though. The food is reasonably priced though a little on the expensive end of things. All in all, I've definitely enjoyed my meals at Ted's and would go back in an instant. I'm adding an addendum to this review after trying to go here with some friends a few days ago. I had called early in the day and made a reservation for 7:30 PM. My friends and I showed up at 7:20 and were told that it would be at least a twenty minute wait. One of my friends commented that she felt as though she were in a Seinfeld episode. What is the point of making a reservation if it isn't going to be kept? I could understand if we had showed up ten or more minutes late or having arrived early were told we would have to wait until 7:30 when our table is ready, yet we were treated as though we had no reservation. The host was dismissive when I asked about this and was not helpful. I would still go here again but it definitely has lowered my opinion of the service.

The waitstaff is absolutely lovely here. I just wish the food lived up to their excellent service. After two visits I can only give two stars. On this last vist both my dining companion's meatloaf and my veggie burger came out cold. Hers so much so she sent it back to be heated. Regardless of the temperature issue, the food is serviceable at best. My veggie burger with guacamole and jalapeno was rather bland. The atmosphere is nice and parking is easy.

The service was terrible! Had to wait forever for drink refills and to place our order. Dirty plates and were left on our table even after they brought the check. When the food came we were underwhelmed. Our onion ring app had a skin left on...gross. Two in our party ordered the bison meatloaf and got different sized portions, one person got two rolls and the other only one, and even a random French fry! No QC out of the kitchen!! The mashed potatoes were bland and unseasoned. Even the manager had a bad attitude. Won't be coming back, ever.

Come here for the buffalo..really, it's not that bad. We've been frequenting this place for a while, and although a bit pricey-er than your regular burger joint, it's decent food. Our fav thing here actually are the little rolls that they serve to you with the pickles. They come out warm and a comforting start to the meal. We've had the steaks (which you can taste the slight gamey-ness of the buffalo), burgers (there are so many kinds to chose from, and you can have it beef or buffalo), and every so often, we'll order off of the rest of the choices as comfort food. Portions are fairly large, even the burgers, so bring yo appetite. Notes: the bathroom has cool powder soap and some of the things found on the table are earth friendly. Kudos for trying to keep green!

Is it just me or do the pickles taste a little bitter? (not that it really stops me from eating them each and every time I go there) The only thing that I can think of that prevents me from coming to Ted's more often are the prices. You can expect to shell out $20+ per person for a burger and maybe an appetizer to share, not including drinks. Other than that I can't really complain about Ted's. I've been here on serveral occasions and have never been dissapointed with the service or food. I have to admit, my first time trying the bison was a little nerve racking, but after the first bite I am now a lover and a believer!! The meat is leaner than regular beef and has a distinct taste (not game-y in my opinion) that is not over bearing. I highly suggest ordering your meat cooked at medium rare (if you can handle it) or at most medium to get the best flavors. I find that the more meat is cooked the more it tastes just like any other burger in which case you might as well have gone to Ruby Tuesdays instead! Overall, as long as they keep serving bison, I will continue to come to Ted's!

Went to this place on Sunday evening. There were not many people in the restaruant so the service was pretty quick for seating. I didnt enjoy there pickle/ salty cucumber-ness that they gave us to eat. I am a vegetarian, so I enjoy going to steak houses and burger joints and trying to find something to eat on the menu. LOL. I had the fish sandwich which was tasty. I love their side options besides the usual french fries. They have asapragus, sweet potatoes, onion rings, creamed spinach, etc. I ordered the onion rings and aspargus and the onions rings. The rings were huge ad very crisp and delish! I would not mind returning to ted for some more :)

Came here on a Wednesday night with my husband and his best friend. The restaurant was fairly empty at 7pm (we made reservations but clearly wasn't necessary if not a Friday or Saturday night) but got busier as the night went on. Our food and our server were fantastic. If you go, ask for Carl to be your server. He was attentive and nice without being overly in your face. His food suggestions and humor were a welcome addition to our experience. Here's a rundown of what was ordered between the three of us for our app, dinner and dessert. Appetizer: Onion Rings were amazingly good with the right amount of crunch and breading. I think it came with honey mustard sauce for dipping. Dinner: I had the Skinny Dip Bison burger with an oatie wheat bun. Decided to substitute my fries for the asparagus and made the right choice. After a hard day at work, this was just what my eyes and appetite devoured. Hubby got the S.O.B. Bison burger and friend got the Beer Can Chicken. Both men seemed pretty pleased. Dessert: I was eyeing the freshly baked cookies but really wanted ice cream so I got the ice cream with a cookie. The Haagen-Daas vanilla was good but the cookie was subpar. Didn't taste like freshly baked that day to me. More like something I could have purchased. The boys both got vanilla malts and they were delicious. Overall, we had a great time at Ted's. They are running a special right now if you buy a $100 gift card, you get a $25 gift card for free (to be used within 45 days though). What was nice is that the $100 was applicable to our current meal right away. We'll be back!

A-OK for the food We went there with good friends Moe and Lee, after a trip to the Holocaust Museum in Skokie. I had the Bison Meat Meatloaf mashed potatoes and gravy. My wife had a Juicy hamburger with fries. It was good, but the problem was my glass of red Merlot contained a piece of residue from Lord knows where. The waitress was a doll and poured my a fresh glass of Merlot. The ambiance was nice, among a fairly new Boutique type shopping area with upscale shops like Von Mauer, etc. Next to Glenview Naval Air Station, which brought back patriotic memories for us I'm sure. I liked this Ted's a tiny bit more than the one back home in Naperville. But they're close in style.

Let me preface that I am not a HUGE burger person. I don't go out of my way to find an amazing burger. But this place was pretty darn good. I would go back for sure. I wasn't in the mood for some crazy bison, so stuck with the regular cow instead. Mine came topped with bacon and blue cheese, and holy goodness, it was awesome. Let's just say, I shouldn't have eaten the whole thing. But yet, I did. And that is one large burger. Will power, Sara, will power. The pickles prior to the meal are super yum-o. The fries were really good too. The fiance had the chips instead of fries and was sorry he did. Just not as good. I also love that this place is super eco-friendly...although, I can't say I'm a fan of the paper straws they use for your drinks. I'm 100% in for going again...just not for using the straws.

My wife and I tried Ted's a few weeks ago and had a mixed experience. My wife ordered fish and about 10 minutes after we placed the order, the waiter came back to tell us it was unavailable. He suggested an alternate fish, which my wife agreed to. Another five minutes later, the manager came by to inform us that the other fish that the waiter had suggested was also unavailable. She offered us the crab cakes "on the house." I remarked to my wife how this is how restaurants stay in business and keep people coming back, despite the mistakes. Incidentally, my meal was unremarkable, but some of the sides were really good, so we decided to return. Well, unfortunately, our return meal tonight was disappointing at best. The cedar plank salmon was bland, dry, and very overcooked. My wife's entrée-the beer can chicken was also overcooked and dried out, and had soggy skin. When our waiter asked how the food was, and we responded "not very good," he left without comment. As I was recanting the problems with the order from our previous meal, our waiter came by to tell us they were out of chocolate chip cookies (this was at 6:00.) We both laughed at the irony. I'm sorry to say that I don't plan to return to this establishment.

My wife and I wanted to finally check out this place and we were glad we did. I got the New Mexico bison burger and I have to say it was the best most flavorful burger I have ever eaten. Bison burgers there are expensive but to me it was well worth it. Their fresh cut fries are delicious. Their shrimp appetizer was excellent I wish I could have ordered three of them. Their dessert was so good we got the berry cheesecake. Can't wait to go back.

Great food, service and any place where I can order an Old Fashioned and not get a double look from the waiter is golden in my book.

I'll have to admit, I've been to this place well over 20 times. I used to work right over here and we'd convince the bosses to take us out to eat. The lackeys and I were so happy with our burgers we started taking long lunches there on special days and now, even though I don't live or work anywhere near this place, I still come back here now and again because I like it. Let me just say, I don't get adventurous with the menu. I've had a few things and everything was good. You don't need to have a salad here, people (well, that salmon salad is pretty good) you need their BURGERS. And when I say need I mean NEED. Honestly, their burgers are so freakin' tasty, juicy, big, well-seasoned, fresh, natural and perfectly cooked it's totally worth trekking up here. Here are some key bullet points for you in the front row: -Their beef and bison are good quality. -The patty is hand made and not super pressed together dry. -I love the combinations of toppings you can add on there (I'm sorry, I think I have to take a drool break) -The oatie bun is super tasty with this burger -The chicken sandwich is great (although I admit to ordering it less often just because the burger is so good) and really seasoned...not the usual grilled chicken dry tasteless nightmare you usually get. -You can sub out asparagus for fries or even get a sweet potato. HOLLAH! -They have sweet tea -I like that the bison comes from Ted Turner's own personal ranch -Oh, I almost forgot about those half-pickled cucumbers you get to eat! AHH! Yum! Yeah, the straws are paper but I kinda like that in a way. I like that they have the crazy old-fashioned soap in the bathroom. I've been to the Yard House and that other place across the street and their food is fine - nothing super exciting good or bad - but honestly, if you want a burger this place is a slam-dunk. It's waaaay better than those places for that. The other food on the menu? I dunno! Don't care! I'll never want anything other than their perfect hunk of meat on a bun.

Only after I purchased a Ted's Montana Grill $25 gift certificate for $10 from restaurants.com did I read the reviews from Yelp. Had I read some of the horror stories first, I would never have picked this restaurant to take out-of-town guests. I'm glad I went. Here's my take: Food: The garlicky pickles on the table were a hit, we asked for seconds. Great way to start. I had the bison meatloaf. Not a very pretty looking thing, but better-than-average tasting. The sliced tomatoes served with it were fresh and tasty. I ended up finishing some of my son's sliders (small bison burgers). They were FANTASTIC! I would strongly suggest getting the sliders, the bun was so buttery and delicious, pairing very nicely with the flavorful burgers. My older son LOVED the salmon ordered off of the kids' menu and my wife liked the naked chicken sandwich. Service: I was petrified it would be as bad as described. While the waitress did have a thick eastern European accent that made comprehending a bit challenging, as described in other posts, she was attentive, courteous, helpful and nice. I'll take a slight language barrier and good service over poor service from a native born every day of the week. Also, the manager came over twice to see how we were doing. Very nice touch. This may not be my favorite place, but I would not hesitate to come back.

This could be the most irritated I have ever been during a dining experience. To start, the service sucked. Things like my sister ordered a no-ice cherry coke, which came to the table with lots of ice. Then when the 2nd cherry coke was brought (after the first one was quickly consumed due to lack of ice), it was promptly spilled by the waiter alllllll over our feet. They brought us some paper towels to wipe off the sticky liquid, but didn't bring anything wet to get the sticky off. Drinks were not quickly refilled, when water was requested it was forgotten. The burgers were fine, but a HUGE mess. I literally had to eat my burger with a fork, which defeats the whole point. To top things off, I kind of expected to have something comped on our tab... like, say, the cherry coke that was on my feet. No such luck. Needless to say, I will never be going back to you, Ted's Montana Grill. Never.

3.5 stars! I'm a bit obsessed with any place that has pot roast on the menu, and Ted's bison pot roast does not disappoint. It melts in your mouth, the gravy is tasty, and the portion is perfect. I order it just about every time I come here. My husband and I dined at Ted's on Friday, the service was excellent, we got the grilled shrimp appetizer which was very good. My husband got steak, and pot roast junkie (me) got pot roast., thumbs up all around. I also love that you can get bison instead of beef on almost any cut of meat on the menu, which I like because it's much leaner. My only complaint would be that the wine list is a little bit average.

I have been to this place a bunch of times since they opened. In my opinion, it's the best place in the Glen, and that's acknowledging that the Yardhouse is very good. When I have a craving for a burger, this is where I go, because they are delicious. I'm not crazy about the bison - I find it has a game-y taste - but the beef is really good. I have seen the reviews that say a burger shouldn't fall apart, but for this burger, I will eat it with a fork and knife. And I do, because they are next to impossible to eat with your hands. But they're good enough that I don't complain about it. We've always gotten excellent service, and the outside patio is really lovely on a nice day. For me, skip the fries since any of the other sides are way better - the onion rings, asparagus, broccoli and creamed spinach. All are delicious!

Awesome place for Bison burgers. I love both locations (Schaumburg and Glenview). The pickles they serve you before you get your drinks is crunchy, fresh and just delicious. Bison meatloaf is excellent.Strangely they run out of prime rib after 7pm. You should go.

My experiences at Ted's have always been excellent! The staff is amazing, food is fresh and delicious. I have never had a bad meal here. It is surprising that people haven't caught on yet...The Yardhouse is always overcrowded, overpriced, and the food there is less than impressive compared to Ted's. However, if that means I can sit down right away and enjoy an amazing dinner, ok! Definitely skip the other restaurants in The Glen and come to Ted's. They won't disappoint.

When it comes to eating the remains of an animal, I feel like I'm rather qualified to give an opinion. I like all kinds of meat and in essentially all variations they come in. I was excited to hear about Ted's Montana Grill. First off, the place is casual which is a plus in my book. You won't have to feel bad wearing jeans in the joint which seems to go against some of the other restaurants inside the Glen. We went around 4:30pm on a weekday and I will say the place was rather empty (and never really filled up). It was clean and comfortable. The service was good. In fact, one person in our party ordered their burger Medium-Rare and received it Medium to almost Well Done. She mentioned it to the server who re-did the meal and took the entire charge off our bill. We pleaded that it wasn't necessary and they insisted which was a nice touch. I ordered a Buffalo burger and it was high quality. Juicy, thick, and tasty. It's a large portion (believe 1/2 pound) so I wasn't even able to finish the entire thing. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and there was plenty left over for lunch the next day. I think I was most impressed with the prices. A group of 5 of us (including 3 men with big appetites) at for around $60. That includes a full entree apiece and drinks. That's about what I'd expect to pay at an Applebees or other family restaurant, except that the quality of food at Teds is much better.

So below is my original review written immediately after eating here and it was 3 stars. An hour later I became very ill most likely from my salad. I obviously have to drop this down to 1 star. We had lunch here after a trip to Kohl's children's museum. We had the $13 lunch special where you get your choice of soup, salad, onion rings app and entree of burger, salmon, and 2 salad choices and cookie for dessert. Considering all these items are $11, you'd be a fool not to get it. Baked potato soup great. Slad with BLT ranch was ok with the dressing saving it. We had bison burgers. They came out a bit overcooked but were tasty as were the fries. Service was alright but those straws were wierd.

I'm always on the lookout for new places to bring the fam-aka the 'rents and my sis-and for awhile this place fit the bill. Although their service has always been slooow, the prices were decent, and their burgers and sandwiches were always a good size. In other words, they filled up my father, which is basically our main concern when we head out. Luv ya Dad ;) Anyways, we hit the first speed bump with this place when I decided to buy my mom a gift card for her birthday, and they gave me a bonus card. Of course it was never activated, and when my mom tried to use it they ran out of the restaurant after her accusing her of not paying her bill. Luckily I had the receipt, so after about four or five hours of going back and forth with their corporate office, I was able to get my money back. We decided to give the place another shot for my Dad's birthday. When they asked why we were there we told them, and they came out with some dessert and sang Happy Birthday. Of course, when the bill came we were charged for it, even though we never ordered it. The best part was, when I sent an email commenting on the two situations, I got a reply from the manager-who was the one who actually sold me the gift cards and gave us the birthday dessert-inviting me back to experience "The Best"... ummm....how about no.

Wow, I expected so much more from this place. I mean, when you first walk in you are very impressed. The interior is decorated in a sort of "old elegance" way, with tile floors, warm wood paneling, and milk-glass pendant lights. However, why it is run by folks that look and act like they are 12 and never have worked in a restaurant before baffles me. The service was so spotty and unprofessional I thought maybe we had accidentally stumbled into a Chuck E Cheese by accident. The food was good, even though it took FOREVER to order and FOREVER to get - and this is after we told our server we had to be out by a certain time to make the movie showing across the street. The clam chowder was lovely and maybe if they offered take out I would go back for that, but until they remedy the very poor situation with their help, Ted's will sink like a stone among the other restaurant selections at The Glen.

I went back to this restaurant to give it another try. I had been here years before when it first opened and was never impressed with the service. The place is adorable inside. I decided to give it another try and was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent on both of my return visits. I never had to wait for a drink, it always magically arrived. The burgers were very good. I tried the bison and the regular burger. We have now found another place to go in The Glen.

Well I expected taxidermy... so the clean interior and mock art deco lights with pseudo tin tiles were classier and pleasant (for a chain). They make the chain restaurant risk averse mistake of cooking a level above what you order to be safe. That to me is screw the customer we just don't want to get sued. The service was not sharp. Ted Turner should stick to snake farms and initiating global cable news channels. Maybe Ted Nugent should own this place instead?

I love this place! The decor makes you think you are going to pay an arm and a leg but the prices are great. Everything is fresh and homemade. First time there I,had the turkey dinner and it felt like Thanksgiving, the turkey was so juicy. Second time I had a cheeseburger and it was just as juicy. I recommend the lemonade as well :)

Yes, this is Ted Turner's restaurant, but don't hold that against it! This is THE place for bison! It's all shipped in fresh from Mr. Turner's ranch in Montana. Excellent bison meat loaf, bison pot roast, and bison burgers. Terrific side dishes, too! Huge onion rings. Also try "Aunt Fannie's" squash casserole. I'm not big on asparagus of any sort, but Ted's serves delicious roasted asparagus. Oh, and if you've got a sweet-tooth, you can't beat Ted's Fresh-Squeezed Cherry Lemonade. There's a full bar, too. The place has got a very 1920s - 1930s feel to it. There's a lot of dark-stained wood and a number of huge windows. Go to tedsmontanagrill.com for the full story and menu.

This is the second time dining at this restaurant and both times have been superb. I'm not giving it 5 stars because I have not tried anything else on the menu. This time we sat at the bar because of the TV and the NCAA basketball games. Both times I've been here I had the $13 SOB Bison burger and both times it's been great. The burger has Swiss cheese with bacon on a Oatie bun. My wife had a $14 Bison Blue Cheese Burger on a Oatie bun and she loved it. There are sides you can choose from if you don't want the fries. I had the buttered broccoli and my wife had the creamed spinach. They also have a few 1/2 salads if you like a salad with your burger. If your a pop fan they offer little bottles of Coke and Sprite. I'm a beer fan and the bottled beer was served with a frosty glass each time I got a new beer. The bartender provided good service and the restrooms were very clean. Outdoor seating available if it ever stops snowing around here. When we left, we went across the street to the Tower Grille (where the awful Red Star Tavern used to be) to check it out. I'll write a review when we try the food but the beer and live music was all good.

Should have listened to the previous reviews. Average at best. I can now say I've tried "Bison". No big deal. Parking was fine.Street parking was taken but there is a parking garage (free) 1/2 a block away. Service was good but food was nothing to write home about.Very average. Our group had 3 burgers (none fell apart as in previous posts) and 1 chicken dinner. Desserts were also blah. The Kahlua brownie was just a brownie with a scoop of ice cream. No hint of Kahlua. I would not recommend this restaurant. FYI...prices were fair.

Ate there for dinner a while back, was not impressed and went back this time for lunch with co-workers hoping for a better experience. Service was effective but in no way friendly or attentive, the best description was simply cold. For food I was looking for a lighter, "healthier" lunch and picked a grilled salmon salad with dressing on the side thinking it would be a safe bet. Salad was fine with fresh ingredients but I was later horrified when checking the nutritional facts on their website that I had just ate more than 4800 mg of sodium. How is that even allowed with no warning on the menu? For reference the recommended daily value is 2500 mg, and more like 1500 mg for folks battling high blood pressure. Almost twice the daily value in 1 salad, simply unbelievable and irresponsible! My co-workers ordered the bison burgers again thinking bison is supposed to be a leaner version of beef. The comments at the table were unanimous, burgers taste fine but nothing special and they are so greasy! Our conclusion, unless you are trying to clog your arteries, just skip, if the fat doesn't get you, the salt will.

I visited this restaurant for the very first time in January, 2007. . The food was excellent, but the service left a lot to be desired. The server seemed very nervous and ill-at-ease throughout our entire visit, was not at all well versed in the menu nor in enacting his responsibilities as a server. Though the restaurant was not crowded, our server brought our drinks and then made us wait 15 minutes before he returned. Even then, we had to flag him down. He continually walked past our booth without looking at us. Then he served the chili and it was only lukewarm, not hot, certainly not HIS fault, but we had to wait too long for him to return in order to return the chili to the kitchen. By the time he arrived, the chili was outright cold and we canceled it from our order. Finally, he made an error on the check, charging us for something we did not order. When this was brought to his attention he attempted to correct it, then told us that the manager informed him they would have to exchange one item for another, subtract the first item and instead add a new item to the check which would then balance it out. We had no idea what he was talking about and he had to re-do the check TWICE more before it even began to make sense. He apologized profusely, but in the meantime we wound up staying in the restaurant twenty minutes longer than we intended while the mess was being straightened out. Though our server kept telling us that the manager was giving him instructions on how to correct the problem, the manager never once made an appearance in the restaurant to communicate with us on any level, much less to apologize for the confusion, none of which was our fault. I felt the biggest disappointment was the manager never making an appearance to help settle the issues and stand behind the establishment. I was going to request to speak to the manager that evening, but was already upset and didn't want to further exacerbate the situation nor spend any more time there than I had already. As it was our visit there had been extended at least 45 minutes longer than intended due to bad service and mistakes made by the restaurant staff. Had the manager come out to discuss the situation I would have addressed the problems directly, but he/she chose to employ the server as a spokesperson. This is a bad reflection of the professionalism for a restaurant of this caliber. I feel that my $33.00 could have and should have been spent elsewhere. I subsequently wrote the restaurant with my concerns and the so called "proprietor" replied saying he was sorry and requested that should we ever return we should ask for him and he would make sure we were treated right. Wondering how he could ever imagine that we would ever return, I brought this to the attention of the corporate office for TED'S in Atlanta. They apologized for everything and said the proprietor would once more be in touch with me. This time he sent a full refund and a gift card. I thought this was a very professional response and thanked them, though I really had no intention of ever going back there. In August, 2007, while once again visiting the Chicago area, I decided to return to TED'S to see if things had changed. I asked for the proprietor to introduce myself as per his request, but I was told he no longer ran the restaurant. I decided to stay anyway, use the gift card and then determine if the service had improved. The "manager" who usually worked as a server tried to seat us in the bar area without even first asking us if that was okay. Given that it smelled of spilled stale beer, we told him we would rather not eat there. As such, he claimed they were busier than usual and that we would have to wait for a table in the dining area. While we were waiting more customers came in and he immediately sat them in the bar booths, once again never asking people if that was alright with them, a practice most hosts/hostesses will do at just about ANY restaurant. Finally we got a booth and then waited about 15 minutes for our server. When she arrived her first words to us were: "Wow, I am exhausted! I can't wait for this night to end." It was 6:30pm and this is how she greeted us. Neither our appetizer nor main course was as we requested. As our server was not the one who brought out any of the food, it was left up to the "busboy" to straighten it out. It was also at this point that we noticed the guy who was bussing tables had apparently switched places with the "manager," who was now wearing an apron and bussing tables while the former busboy had taken off his apron and was seating people. ??? HE was the one we eventually had to signal for our check as our server never returned to our table, not once. Needless to say, while the food is excellent this restaurant has a lot of problems. YELP won't allow ZERO STARS, but that's my rating. I do not recommend TED'S at all.

I was on my way to the Yard House when I passed Ted's. It looked nice enough and it smelled so delicious I turned around and went in for the first time. Food: Starter = Complimentary bowl of sliced pickles was unusual but very tasty. Soup = Bison chili was delicious. Properly portioned and meaty, topped with diced onions and shredded cheese warmed me up just right. Main = I opted for one of the specials: shaved prime rib on ciabatta bread served au jus with fries. Different toppings on the sandwich allowed me to customize it to my liking (pepper jack cheese and onions). It arrived quickly and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Dessert = Temped by Haagen Dazs ice cream, I chose a combination of vanilla + a chocolate chip cookie. The service was absolutely outstanding. My server was friendly, attentive, and very competent. Other wait staff were also milling about and one cleared my plate when it was obvious I was finished. One of the things I noticed on the menu was commentary about using fresh ingredients. No warmed-over frozen dishes or pre-packaged anything. Correctly or not, I attribute the outstanding flavor of everything to this philosophy. Quality ingredients do make a difference. As one experience should not a believer make, I'll reserve the fifth star for my next visit. And there will be a next time.

super awesome place, the food is tasty, they have a nice salmon/beef plate this is very reasonably priced. staff is friendly. one time we sat where we could see the kitchen, those guys in the kitchen work their butts off, they are busy the whole time! i love this place and highly suggest you try it out.

Ok, what is scary, I too just ate here, and am feeling sick!!! And, to add, I only ate the salad, because my food didn't come out in time with everyone elses. Our waiter just couldn't get it together and the worst part, he actually blamed the kitchen! Am a Glenview resident, who eats out a lot, was hoping this would be a good experience since it is so close, but it was awful and there are plenty of other good places in the Glen. I soooo do not recommend this restaurant..go to Yard House instead!

i used to go here quite often. i always got the cobb salad which was delicious, and their bison burger with avocado. anything with avocado i'll get! but i always had issues with my order since i do take out most of the time. they always seem to forget something, like the dressing for my salad, and to keep going back to get the dressing is such a hassle. or they take down my order wrong which is also extremely inconvenient. but the food is great, just make sure if you do a take out order, you get everything you asked for.

The "Ted" is Ted Turner and they have locations in around 18 states now, including Illinois locations in Glenview and Schaumburg. The interior is supposed to remind you of a Montana ranch, but other than extra deep booths, it was nothing special. As you'd expect, the menu is all about meat, but they do it very well and at surprisingly fair prices. I know people rave about the hamburgers at Charlie Beinlich's, but, although I like to support local businesses, the burgers are better at Ted's. I was even more surprised by their buffalo burgers - in my experience, buffalo tends to be somewhat drier and less flavorful than beef, but not here. I strongly encourage you to opt for buffalo - even if you've had bad experiences with it in the past. Our server was trying very, very hard but lacked experience. He was about 18 years old and clearly nervous... maybe it was his first day? He made one small error with our order (brought someone mushrooms on their burger when they had asked for no mushrooms and, when told, claimed that they hadn't asked for no mushrooms) but it wasn't a big deal, we are all pretty easy going so he just picked the mushrooms off. So, if you're in the Glen, try the buffalo burger at Ted's.

Ted's a great place with a great concept. I really enjoy everything about Teds up and until I get the bill. I understand that they offer high quality foods, but their price points are well and above other similar restaurants. The Glenview Location has a great outdoor patio and nice interior seating, however, $12-$15 for a burger or $25 for two crabcakes can't justify.

I'm really having a hard time seeing where the bad reviews are coming from. I definitely think as far as burgers goes, this place is one of the best places for a burger. They have bison and beef (I can only vouch for the beef) with a variety of toppings. I also have tried the turkey dinner and really, really liked it. I have never had a bad meal here and the service has always been good. I like Ted's and will be going back in the future.

It seems that I am a spoiler in the review column. If I could take a star away and give it a minus, I would. The only positive thing I can say about my last visit was that someone greeted us at the door. It was all downhill from there. We sat at the bar and in front of the cooks. Got a drink and then had to wait 20 minutes to get someone to take our order. Still, I'm OK. I ordered the chicken with cranberry because it said it was a specialty of the restaurant. The food came and I had to ask for flatware and napkins. The chicken was just awful. I'm guessing if it were cooked all the way it may have been better but I don't think it would have been what I would call good. The whole experience was not good. I have been to this restaurant more than a few times and mostly would have given 1 or 2 stars but I will not be going back to do another review. Overpriced and they need to spend some time training the staff.

I was here on a Friday night & ordered from their Blue Plate Classics; food made from scratch and cooked daily. The Friday special was the St. Phillip's Island Crab Cakes: A half-pound of jumbo lump crab served with asparagus and cole slaw. This is probably one of the most expensive items on their menu but well worth it. I substituted the cole slaw with the squash casserole- they will let you substitute it with any of the sides. I probably should've chose something less starchy and peppery but I loved everything else. I devoured my food and my plate was spotless. It was two pieces of crab cake and a pretty generous size with a serving of guacamole and some kind of soft bread. The combination of the three together were awesome!

I was disappointed to find upon entering that there was not some sort of large stuffed Bison for patrons to sit on/ride for photo-ops. Anyhow, the interior is warm and really cute with its red picnic napkins and Eco-friendly mats that cover each table. The straws are biodegradable too(pretty spiffy). Instead of the usual bread or what have you, they bring out some little semi-pickled cucumbers which were tasty but a little too salty for my like. After inquiring about Bison filet our server brought a sample of their regular bison meat, which was pretty good. I think this place is a way better burger joint than a place to go for steak which is what I was craving. I went with the Bison Filet which they would not cook rare and it was okay- hmmm no. To better describe it I will say -it tasted "healthy". I was glad that we had also ordered a regular Beef filet since it turned out to be more of what I was seeking. All sides that were ordered were decent. The service was really good and the prices okay. So all in all I did like Teds but wouldn't recommend the steaks-just burgers. Oh and Ted should really invest in a few giant taxidermy Bison for photo ops.

This place has below average food and very poor service. Some examples include the bison burger being very bland, the cherry lemonade being much too sweet, and the servers failing to refill our drinks even once. I'll never go back.

I'm not kidding when I give this place 1 star. No one I know, including myself, has ever had good service. The buffalo burgers literally fall apart when you attempt to eat one. I'm not sure what kind of atmosphere they're going for, but it's a little too mini-tile-floored for me.

    (1)
  • Michelle L.

The atmosphere does not match its location. It is in the glen which is a very up beat busy never any parking location, yet Ted's usually is not too busy. The service is mediocre, but the food is great (what I have tried at least). Top recommendations are the grilled chicken salad (very good with the shrimp as well), the sausage gumbo soup, and the burgers are good. Try their honey mustard sauce and/or horse radish sauce with their delicious fries. I will admit though the food is pricey, if the service was great I would not mind paying their prices. By the way, stay away from the salty pickles

The decor. The atmosphere. The food. Each aspect brings me back to Teds. I'm personally drawn to the recreation of the bygone Western restaurant with the simple chairs and a prairie motif. I admit that it might all be creative license in the Disney-mold but hey, as long as you're having fun. The food is American, like you're sitting to supper in a John Ford Western too. Steaks, burgers, and meatloaf with a few salads thrown in there but first timers should go for the bison, it's like ground beef but sweeter with some tang. If I'm not watching the scale, the Swiss and mushroom bison burger with some sweet potato fries does it every time ( I sometimes swap out the fries for a whole sweet potato). I've never seen it too packed and it's pretty quiet as far as restaurants go nowadays, good for discussion. Service can be inconsistent so stay on your toes but it's worth the meal. I suppose eating at Teds is a lot like the pickles they serve as a starter, odd but surprisingly refreshing and I'll always ask for more.

The place was nearly empty since it was 5 degrees F outside and the service was amazing even though in that instance usually the service is the worst because the servers are often distracted by themselves with nothing to do - not that night! The fried onion rings came in a large basket (way too many) but they never bring ketchup and instead serve it with a horseradish creamy sauce - it's OK but it needs some acid (ketchup or hot sauce helps) to cut all the fat. The George's Cadillac burger was moist, with good flavor and of course dripping... The bowl of chicken noodle soup tasted homemade with thick cut noodles and large shreds or roasted chicken. Tasty and a nice light alternative the rest of the menu.

Best Bison Steak - juicy and tender! Best way to cook at medium rare. Filet for those who want their steak lean while ribeye for those who want that extra fat. Don't like their appetizer - pickles- bread and butter is preferred although ordinary.

Ted's is an enjoyable place to dine on casual food in a casual atmosphere. Bison burgers are their thing but all burgers are available in a beef version as well. The bbq/onion straws burger (Cadillac ?) with fries and tge bison nachos are both a messy affair but quite tasty. The strawberry shortcake (available only in the summer) is to die for! The Sunday mimosas were not so good... Especially for $8. But hey you can't win them all.

Great place for business lunches... Quiet enough to to carry on business especially in the booths.. Food is wonderful and the staff very professional and friendly.

Ted's Montana Grill is an upscale restaurant with a country menu. Being Paleo, it was hard to find something on the menu that would be okay to eat, and when I did, I was told that they were out of it as well as my second choice. For something this expensive, I was shocked that they lacked any of the food on their small menu. Regardless, I ended up going with the steak and some sweet potatoes, which were delicious and satisfying. I will probably not go back to Ted's, but I did enjoy the food that they were able to serve me.

The quality of the bison burgers and sides here are extrardinary. Burgers with so much flavor. So juicy. Great handcut fries and onion rings, or a kale salad with lots of flavor. Bison chili rocks. The only drawback here food wise are the bun options are crap. A big 8-10oz quality restaurant quality burger requires a sturdy bun, a brioche, a kaiser, or pretZel if youn will. Here its a soft corn meal bun where the botton part turns to soft wet dough. Lastly, service here is a trainwreck. They employ young hosts and hostess who are so awkward with zero interaction skills. Our service in last 4 visits in past 3 months has been ok to crap. Wrong orders..drinks not filled. Mistakes. Also, this company in an effort to save money doesn't employ busboys. Know what that means? Dirty tables that dont get cleared fast enough and dirty plates and empty water on my table. Ted's kicks out some great food folks no doubt. I think the company would do better if they made over the ranch cownboy dim light ambiance, tweeked that menu, and focused on providing service as good as the burger.

Often the service makes or breaks a visit... 3/18/2013 - (yes 2013 I apparently left this in draft, so if all the reviews since then are good, you can ignore mine.) Early Sunday Dinner (4:00) the place was mostly dead and unfortunately our server Brian was not anything to brag about. The hostess (Niqui) however, was extremely nice and really tried to help out. Niqui got us seated, took our drink order and offered to place an order for complimentary onion rings (a specialty). Our drinks arrived and Brian took our dinner. He returned with a basket of chips (not onion rings) and was MIA for 15 minutes. Niqui noticed that we had the wrong appetizer and offered to correct it. We asked her to only bring 1/2 an order since our dinner was sure to be ready soon but we really wanted to try the famous rings. Niqui also gave us a card for another complimentary onion rings on our next visit. The Rings and dinner arrived pretty close together. As onion rings go they were OK but I am not sure I would tout them as famous. We ordered the Bison Burger and the Pair of minis (Beef and Bison). Both meals were cooked to perfection (I love med-rare meat). My husband asked for a refill on his iced tea when the food arrived as it was 2/3rds empty. Brian was MIA until the food was nearly gone and the iced tea long gone. I do not believe we saw him or anyone else for 30 minutes. He did not check to see if the food was OK - good thing it was. He forgot the iced tea a second time. So no drink, no TLC from Brian and the restaurant was really dead. There were 2 servers working and no more than 4 tables with diners (including us.) They were setting up for a very large birthday party however the table was set before we arrived and the first guests arrived 10 minutes before we were finished. (So no impact) Brian brought the check and disappeared, did not clear the plates. Niqui cashed us out. I almost never tip badly as I used to waitress, I left $2.00 My husband has been here several times in the last 3 months and did receive good service, so I cannot fault the restaurant, just the server. Ask for someone other than Brian and I am sure you will enjoy the food and visit.

Hands down the food of TMG is tasty. I always go for the burgers wether it's beef or bison but I dislike how the burger buns are always cold and that the service is slow.

I went to lunch here with a longtime friend for a late Saturday lunch. We were going to go to Bravo not far from there but she had eaten there days before with her husband and was craving bison meat. It was a really nice day so most of the folks dining were sitting outside. We walked inside and the male host didn't seem all that nice but did direct us to a table near the windows. The interior is minimally decorated with the primary decoration being a big Bison head near the back of the restaurant. Inside seating was pretty adequate and there was only one other family dining. Our waitress was friendly enough and gave us a few minutes to narrow our orders. For an appetizer we opted for the Bison Nachos. We got the nachos which themselves were fine but unfortunately the bison chili and melted cheese was almost cold. We were able to flag our waitress and stated the nachos were cold. At first she was questioning our objection to it saying the condiments on the nacho wouldn't be warm. Well of course the sour cream and maybe the peppers wouldn't be. But we explained the chili bison and cheese itself was cold. She took it back and a few minutes later another server bought a new plate. This time the chili was fine but this time it had shredded cheese. When the server asked this time if it was okay, I kinda just shrugged my shoulders and said it was fine. They were better than the first batch minus the colder cheese. We both opted for burgers with my friend ordering a Naked Burger well done and I the Mushroom Swiss burger. I had wanted medium well but it was well done too. My friend and I agreed the burgers were tasty though they weren't as warm as we would've liked. But I wasn't about to bitch about it after the appetizer fiasco...*LOL*. I ordered a mojito as well which was very good. So the main issue was that the food could've been warmer but otherwise it was good. To top it off as we were walking out to leave, the host looked at us and didn't say the standard 'Have a good day'. Even if they don't mean it, it's hosting 101 to greet the guests as they're leaving. Ah well...we had fun anyway catching up on old times. Sometimes who you hang with makes a less than stellar lunch a better one, hence the three stars.

The service here is not the greatest. They always appear to be short staffed- the few times I've been here, I had to stand and wait for a table before even being approached by the host. They have an open kitchen which doesn't work when the cooks are swearing openly when they run out of items. The service is slow- asking for our check was like pulling teeth. The other day we sat at the bar and our food was delivered in a timely manner but we had no silverware, napkins, ketchup, etc. The reason I come back is for the bison burger- it is outstanding! Overall, I think if they had more staff on hand and they focused more on the customers it would be a better experience for all.

The food was sub par. However, the service was great. The big sky salad looked like a 5 year made it and the BLT dressing was warm and tasted disgusting. The onion rings were average and my dining partner had the crab cake. The cake was good, but not the presentation. I should have realized the food was not that good given it was empty around lunch time.

Very well put together. Impeccable service (not that I tried pecking... I'm not a pecker... not today... well, at least not when we were in this joint) Back to my review: Fine wood trim. Cloth napkins. Big honking' steakhouse steak knives. Comfy booths. Giant plate glass windows provide a nice view of the people passing by on a beautiful summer's day. Excellent service. A fine establishment indeed. My 3yo son and I shared everything with so much pleasurable trouble finishing our plates. We started with the crab cake app. This was no cake and almost a meal. Comprised of seared chunky hunks of tender and juicy crab euphoria accompanied by a spicy, chunky monkey guacamole, and a course-cut creamy tangy cole slaw. Enough by itself to have been our lunch. Then we had the bison meatloaf with garlic mashed and squash casserole; a casserole that was off the charts and out of this world. The chunks of tender, steamy yellow squash were surrounded by a perfect bread-crumbiness that was not over-salted or buttered-up. It was, in fact, superb. The bison meatloaf was not dry at all and loaded with flavor. Topped with a chili paste and rested in a zero-depth pool of brown gravy unlike mother's... no lumps. The garlic mashed were just that. As expected. Sofa king delicious. We also got a side of the roasted broccoli. It was perfection. The color had just changed from dull green to deep bright green and the veggie was crunchy but tender through every single bite. Two things in this world I hate are mushy broccoli and raw broccoli. This was neither. Then it was covered in garlic and relaxing in some type of fat (butter or oil) it was outstanding. We rounded out our gluttonous gut-busting gastro-delights with a hand-dipped chocolate-infused monster mother-lover served in a glass with the frosty steel mixing cup on the side and a long twisty spoon to get every last drop of the melting mid afternoon madness that was our malt. The paper straws suck but touché, I guess. They melt and collapse before the drink is done. But hey, they don't fill the landfill with plastic. Kudo's. The check was pretty hefty but not ridiculous.

The service was excellent. The burgers were incredible! The wife and I had chips as an appetizer, they were just OK. They could have been better--some chips were nice and crispy, while others were ... almost damp? We each had a bison burger, cooked to medium perfection! Seriously, this was hands down the best burger I've ever had! It was cooked perfectly medium.. and crazy juicy! The fries were amazing as well! Crispy and seasoned perfectly! 2 out of 3 ain't bad; Especially when the burger & fries were THAT good. We will definitely be back.

Came here after a movie at the Glen. Had an iceberg salad with ranch dressing (homemade with bacon, tomato and chives). It was delicious. Also tried the bison sliders - solid. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the table and chairs on the patio weren't well wiped down.

I haven't been in a Ted Montana in years, but it is as tasty as I remember.it . The staff is nice and asked us if we wanted samples of their bison. Ummm... yeah! They came out some of their bison meatballs and they were delicious. This place I guess is very environmentally friendly as their straws were made with some biodegradable paper and their soap is some hard pebble-like substance (more on that in the bathroom review). I was with a group of friends and they seated us in some semi-closed booth in the back of the restaurant, which was pretty cool. I decided on the "Green and Hot" burger cooked medium. It had Pepper Jack cheese, grilled jalapeños, fresh-made guacamole and chipotle ranch (ordered on the side, of course). It was awesome! By far, one of the better bison burgers I've had in a really long time. For those who are hesitant on eating bison, fear not. They do have their burgers in traditional beef as well. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries which were delicious when I dipped it in the chipotle ranch sauce. Overall, really tasty experience. The staff was friendly, the restaurant was well-kept, and the food was really good. BATHROOM REVIEW: The mens bathroom was somewhat small. There was one stall and one urinal. The urinal reached all the way to the floor and the stall was huge and had stacks upon stacks of toilet paper, so you never have to worry about running out. The soap dispenser dispensed some gritty pebbly soap, not the typical liquid soap that I'm use to. Rub it a little vigorously against your hands and it eventually turns liquid. Overall, wish the bathroom was bigger, but it looked somewhat clean. Sit or squat? Squat

Ted's is one of those places that is comfort food, with a bison twist! The food is all tasty and you almost can't go wrong, but I tend to stick to the burgers, bison, of course. Friendly and prompt service tops it all off!!!

Awesome burgers and not only. They have nice steaks ( beef or bison) and some fish dishes. The bison nachos as an appetizer , wow! Might be a little walk from the parking lot but that will only do you good after the meal :)

First time ever at a Ted's Montana grill. Let me just tell you the service was amazing. Our server's name was Jenn! My burger and nachos were delicious!!!! I plan on going back again. The menu had so many options to chose from it was hard to pick just one! I will def be back and will be letting others know!! I do hope that they add more desserts to their menu though.

I love Ted's... I wish the Bison meatloaf was a little fresher. Three of us had it and it was just not as good as the last time. The fruit crisp dessert was hot and delicioius.

For a good fresh hot meal in a comfortable setting, this is the place. I have been here many many times, so I'm not writing this like some other reviewers who dismiss it after just one visit. It's my "go-to" restaurant. The bison burgers are fresh and tasty and there's a big selection to chose from, including sliders. You can have the burgers in beef if you so choose, but man that bison is so darn juicy and fresh. The Big Sky salad is another really good option. It's your choice of meat (bison, beef, salmon, chicken) in a big loaded salad. The cedar plank salmon dinner is super tasty too. The sides I have tried have also all been very good, but when I'm feeling healthy, I like to ask the server to swap fries for a grilled vegetable, and they always oblige with no upcharge. If I had one suggestion for Ted's, it's to toast the buns before serving. I dislike a room-temperature bun on a hot burger, so I usually specifically ask them to toast the bun, otherwise it does not come that way by default. The kids meals are among the best I've seen. My boys, being typical picky eater kids, usually only get chicken tenders wherever we go, but here it's real breaded chicken breast prepared fresh, not the semi-fake stuff at most chains. Ted's also amazingly has steak and salmon options should your kid want that. My daughter likes the kid's salmon and it looks and smells great! As far as drinks go, Ted's Signature Margarita is really good, and if you still have room after dinner (I rarely do) their desserts are yummy too. The wait staff is almost always friendly and attentive with just a couple of rare exceptions over the years, so I'd have to say overall Ted's is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Parking Tip: Some people here have complained about the parking, so here's the deal: Don't even bother driving down Tower Drive looking for street parking during prime time. It's almost always full and you're just wasting your time. Instead go straight into the south entrance of the parking garage and park there on the south end. You'll have to walk a little bit to the restaurant but it will still be quicker than circling around looking for parking on the street. There may even be valet service at the curb by Ted's if I recall but I can't say for sure because I never use valet.

I haven't come here in several years due to sub par experiences compared to the other area restaurants. The bison burger tasted stale and freezer burnt and the normal burger ordered medium rare came raw. I see nothing has changed, definitely won't be coming back and I suggest if you are reading this review to check out some of the better restaurants like the curragh or yard house!

Recently returned from Wyoming, we were craving bison burgers and thought we'd try this place while driving back from Wisconsin. Overall, service was friendly and helpful but it was hard to overcome the poor preparation of the burgers. My husband ordered his burger medium and I ordered medium-rare. My husband's arrived with a raw center, mine arrived also with a raw mealy center and the mushrooms on top were cold. Our waitress was nice and solution-oriented when we brought up the issue. The manager mentioned that medium-rare at Ted's is a raw red center, so keep in mind when ordering. For kids, they have high chairs and a kids menu (chicken fingers, burger, salmon) but they lack healthy alternatives to fries as a side.

I'd like to review the food and service at Ted's Montana Grill, but we received neither. We arrived at 5:00 pm and were seated promptly. After that, we were completely ignored for 15 minutes. At one point a waitress stood at a table with her back to us reading and completely ignored us. We finally decided enough was enough and got up to leave and a waitress finally arrived asking us if we wanted drinks. We told her to forget it after being ignored for 15 minutes and all she said was "ok". To make matters worse, people were thanking us on our way out! I tried to give our menus back and there wasn't even a hostess there because she spent the whole time we were there raising and lowering the blinds. Lesson learned. Never go to a restaurant that is empty on a Saturday evening since there's probably a reason for it. Ended up at Yard House and had a 4-star experience.

Located in the Glenn (Glenview). Just what the doctor ordered on a nasty windy cold snowy night out. Our first time visit and great first experience. We were seated immediately. The atmosphere was super conducive to date night and kept us warm and cozy from the cold. If you are on a date, I highly recommend the booths, I felt that it really helped focus our attention on each other, our conversation, meal, and limit other distractions and noise. The atmosphere was conducive to conversation, i.e. not overly loud. In contrast I find the Yard House to be very boisterous with more sensory overload, here, just you and your beau with some faintly discernible background music. The homemade pickles they bring out are very yummy, they disappeared quickly and they brought more with no issue. Apparently Ted's is known for their use of Bison meat, although they still have Angus beef as well. Burger meat is ground fresh onsite daily and burgers are handmade. If you have ordered a bison burger elsewhere, you know that they tend to be between a 10-20 dollar burger. They run about 16 here, so not cheap but then again you are ordering foo foo gourmet burgers. I thought the menu did a good job of offering a spread to choose from - burgers, sandwhiches, salad, steak, and meatloaf - with a choice of chicken, fish, Angus beef, or bison. Nice plus - subbing out sides was no issue, so I swapped my fries for some asparagus. They have a full bar but we opted for draft pours - Fat Tire and Guinness. We both ordered the Avalon burger and it was tasty, the online menu states half pound. The service we received was very pleasant and prompt. Overall the experience was very pleasant and we will definitely return.

We had a horrible lunch yesterday. We came in for a late lunch at 2 pm, so no surprise , the restaurant had only a few tables filled. Therefore, you'd expect the kitchen and the wait staff to have plenty of time to have plenty of time to prepare a fresh, hot meal. No. We both ordered bison burgers....rare. When the burgers finally arrived, our buns were ice cold---like they literally took them out of the freezer and just let them thaw... our french fries were cold and rubbery and my companions burger was cooked well done when he ordered it rare. Our "side of broccoli" was ONE stalk. The toppings on the burgers were just sort of thrown on. Net, we went to Ted's years ago and enjoyed great burgers--clearly it has gone downhill and we won't be returning.

For a chain, Ted's Montana Grill stands out. This was our first visit to a TMG ... none in California. While outside seating was available, we decided to eat inside -- good choice. The booth was comfortable and its high backs made it intimate and separate from other diners. Like the casual, comfortable décor. Off white plastic table covering which was topped with brown butcher paper which was printed with a "map." Red and white checkered napkins. Our waitress Jen was friendly and helpful. She was also covering the patio dining so sometimes there were gaps in service. Neither DH or I had tried bison before so Jen offered us a sample first. A few minutes later she reappeared with two meatballs. As described it was a bit on the sweet side but delicious. So bison it was for both of us. DH had the bison ribs and I had the bison pot roast. My garlic mashed potatoes were perfect. Both DH and asked for asparagus rather than the green beans. The asparagus was grilled and a few stalks were a bit tough, but still was happy with the choice. When it came time for dessert, DH asked about the coffee. No, they did not have espresso, but Jen offered to bring a sample of the coffee. So often restaurant coffee is weak. While not truly robust, it was fine so we both ordered a cup. I rarely pass up dessert, knowing that DH will usually help me finish it. But the two of us still couldn't finish the brownie sundae. The brownie was very fudgy, very dense -- more like candy than cake. The ice cream and topping were delicious. We ate as much as we could and then had a take out box for the remaining third of the brownie. Perfect the next day. While we do not have a TMG nearby, we will look for another on our travels. Probably will try the one near Bonita Springs, FL when we travel there in the winter.

Went to Ted's on recommendation from my sister but was a little concerned because of some of the reviews. The waiter staff can make it or break it.I have to say out waitress Armi was fabulous. Didnt try to upsell but was very helpful when ordering. There were 7 of us for a late lunch. We started out with onion rings that were perfect, not greasy at all and large.I ordered the Bison filet cooked medium rare and it was perfect. Tender as could be and flavorful. Best I ever had. The only disappointment was I couldn't get a baked potato because they don't serve sweet or baked potats until after 4 .But 2 sides came with the meal. Which is unusual these days. My two friends had the bison strip steak. And enjoyed them as well. Two other girls had the Bison pot roast and also enjoyed their meals. We also had cheese cake with BlackBerry's.Yum.I can't wait to go back and bring my husband for another filet. And I will be telling my friends about my experience at Teds

Just okay. Pickled cucumbers they serve when you sit down Are amazing. Menu is so so. Trout with pepper and lemon was good. They have buffalo , but who cares they need more Game , elk, venison, wild boar as well quail. I would not make this a night out. Better to go to Ruth Chris, which also not so great but better protein. We had reservations on a Wednesday night in June for 10 and the service was terrible. 60 min to place order and limited contact. Malts were good. I would pass.
