I was driving by, had to stop in. The business lunch is still $4.95 ($3.95 without the piece of chicken!). You get shish kebab, ketfa kebab, falafel, chicken, rice, salad and pita. Its $6.95 for dinner but you get more. Appetizers (eg hummous+pita) average about $2.25, sandwiches (eg shish kebab) $3.50 and dinner entres $7.00. My favorites include the tabouleh. I think I'm the only person who ever orders it here (or, as a matter of fact, in any middle eastern restaurant). I guess parsley is an acquired taste. The lentil soup is great stuff with a sandwich esp during the winter months. This place has a lot of reviews so this is more of an update: the Pita Inn hasn't changed and neither has its prices. Try the lentil soup.

One of the best Middle Eastern cheat eats restaurant out there! I love their amazing vegetarian platter. It comes with a little sampling of everything: hummus, baba, falafel, tabouleh, and stuffed grape leaves. I'm not a big fan of stuffed grape leaves, so they will always substitute a couple of falafel balls for them. Not to mention, their tahini and hot sauce is out of this world. I know it's not hard to screw up, but these guys kick ass! Their shwarmas and kababs are wonderfully seasoned, and when you add the sauces, it puts them over the top!

    very very very good

at first i was very skeptical of this place (despite my friend's rave reviews). but i have seen the light. the food here is delicious. honestly, i don't think i've ever had a better falafel sandwich anywhere else. it comes with lettuce, tomato, and the pita bread is awesome (i think the pita bread can make or break the sandwich). their hot sauce is also delicious as well as the tahini. the chicken schwarma and kabobs are soo good too. the meat is always flavorful and not dry. i love the rice i love the baba ganouj i love the hummus i can go on and on and the best part is....its CHEAP.

Amazing place. Amazing food. Every time. It's pretty cheap as well. Miss it.

We went to the one on Dempster St first, but it was way too busy. I wonder if they have better food there??? Anyways, the one in Glenview was great. Had a lot more open seating available. The place was clean, and had great food. I had some kindof chicken salad. It was great. Also had a hummus side dish. Overall, Great good for a VERY reasonable price.

I have been to many mediterranean places and Pita Inn compares with the best of them for the quality of food. This is a fast food kind of place, but the staff is still polite. THIS particular location is also much cleaner than the one in Wheeling. I absolutely love Fatoush Salad, Hummos and the spicy sauce and my wife loves falafel and baba ganoush. Quick, cheap and good; you don't always get all three, though you do get that here.

Pita Inn...where "The Hummus Is Yummus" (tm) Going to Pita Inn is a unique dining experience which blends the homey atmoshpere of a sit-down restaurant with the speed and price of a fast-food joint. When you first come in (for eat-in) you order your food and pay for it at the counter and they give you a number to wait for your food. When your number is called you get your meal on a plastic cafeteria tray, but there are no styrofoam boxes or paper plates here, you get your food served to you on real dishes with stainless steel flatware (plastic is available). When you are finished with your meal, there are plenty of busboys prowling amongst the tables ready to pick up your empty dishes and trash, which is a really nice touch. Now for the food...the food is DELICIOUS!!! Pita Inn serves Mediterreanean and Middle-Eastern dishes made fresh and home-style. The food is definately authentic because I see plenty of Middle Eastern folks enjoying a quick meal here. There are many yummy things to try including shewirma, kebab, falafel and hummus. If you are coming for the first time and are not sure what to try, your best bet would be to try the Combination Feast Entree ($6.95) which includes Shish Kebab, Kefti Kebab, Beef Shewirma and a Falafel with sides of rice pilaf and a simple lettuce and tomato salad with a yogurt-based dressing. Other favorites to try would be the Mediterreanean Chicken Tender Entree, with juicy marinated chicken breast and The Count's fave, Chicken Shewirma. And don't forget the appetizers, the hummus is the BEST, nicely blended with a topping of olive oil and spices...yummmm so good! I will have to try the Baba Gannouj next time we go. Everything is served with hot and fresh pita bread on the side which complements the fillings quite nicely. Don't forget to get your spicy red or mild white sauces to top everything off! The Best part of dining at Pita Inn...the incredibly LOW price!!! The two of us can enjoy a nice meal with appetizer and soft drink for under $20! If you come during the week (Mon-Fri, 11a-3p) there is a Business Special which features everything on the Combination Feast Entree PLUS a chicken breast for only $4.95! If you really want to be cheap you can omit the chicken and only pay $3.95 for your lunch. **Just a warning, since this place is so popular, expect it to be crowded and noisy, especially during peak lunch and dinner times. However the Glenview location is much bigger and less busy than the Skokie location, which makes it easier to find a table. There is also the option at Glenview to eat outdoors on the patio, which is nice for warm summer days.** If you're looking for a delicious and healthy meal for a low price...look no further than Pita Inn!

My boyfriend and I love this place. It is cheap unpretentious and never disappoints. The combination plate is the best deal around! My boyfriend loves this place so much that he has an on-going dinner date with his brother every monday night and this is when they catch up. Its fast food without sacrificing the quality.

Simply Superb. Affordable, delicious and great service. And they are open late night too!

I'm in town visiting with a client and he suggested the Pita Inn for a quick bite. I was astounded with the cheap pricing here. 9 different appetizers from $1.55 to $2.95... 8 different sandwiches from $2.75 to $3.95, and 11 different entrees from $3.95 to $7.95. The Beef Shawarma Sandwich I had was quite tasty. Thinly sliced pieces of rotisserie cooked seasoned beef in a pita pocket with lettuce, tomato and tahini sauce... mmm... and only $3.45? Score! Great bang for the buck here.

  • Mei D.

I love the location on Dempster, but was very disappointed here. The falafels weren't as crispy as usual, and the baklava was soggy, doughy, and inedible.

    (2)
  • Philip P.

Tabouleh was way too sour and the meat was very dry. Place was absolutely packed and I'm not sure why - it was as if this was the only middle eastern restaurant around but there are so many great places in the city! Prices were cheap and you get plenty of portions, but not much flavor.

    (2)
  • Esther Y.

This is a great place to get some fast Middle Eastern food. Portions are good, and they are a great price. The chicken is juicy, it's flavorful and it's just plain old good. The rice and the hummus were also good, but the bab ganoush was just mediocre.

  • erika s.

this place is pretty good. came highly recommended by a friend. it's extremely cheap and well run. i can't say anything is completely out of the ordinary that i tried--had both the veggie combo and the meat combo and split with a friend. all was tasty and again very affordable. the only thing that struck me as seriously impressive was the mint iced tea. would be worth going again just for that.

    (3)
  • J P.

Goddddd this food is BEYOND amazing!!! The hummus is seriously to die for and so addicting. I either get the vegetarian platter or chicken schwarma platter...sooo delicious!!! They have tons of seating packed into this place, and rightfully so; because let me tell you, it gets packed on the weekends, especially at dinner times and even for weekday lunches! Go there, you will not be disappointed!!

  • Alena K.

Love me some Pita Inn! Get the combination plate for lunch - it's around $5 and you'll still have left overs for dinner - it comes with all varieties of meat, rice and some veggies (plus a falafel) Otherwise I love getting - lamb sandwich (very flavorful and filling) - generous portion of meat - hummus - mango drink They are always busy and sometimes it's best to call ahead and order to go. when traffic is busy it's annoying to take a left into their parking lot because there is no turning pocket!

    (5)
  • Ali D.

PI continues to deliver. Big fan of their Skokie location and stopped by Glenview today to be equally pleased. Solid kifta sandwich & baba!

    (4)
  • Christina O.

All-time favorite chicken shawarma! When we visit my parents in the burbs we always stop here. I have yet to find a Mediterranean place in the city that can compete with Pita Inn. Also, you can't beat the BLS.

  • Phil S.

What can I say. This is the first time I checked in on Yelp, but definitely not the first time I have eaten here. This place has excellent food w/an incredible Business Lunch Special. For $5.99 ($6.51 W/tax) you get the Pita Inn - Business Lunch Special Shish kabob Lifts kabob Chicken Tender Falafel Served w/rice & salad In all the years I have been coming here the price has never gone up. They continue to produce the same great quality meal for a great price at all their locations (I think there are 5 now)

  • Felice C.

Pita Inn is a place I've been coming to for years and will continue to do so. Their $6 business lunch special is seriously where it's at. I'm not sure I'll get anything else! Everything you can ask for on it and more. Deeeelicious. Definitely ask for extra sauces for the best experience. They are always consistent and they are not picky about using card or cash. When dining in, you can leave your dishes as is and they bus it away for you fairly quickly (: Their business lunch special is also available for carry out, which is usually unheard of. But oh so appreciated!

    (5)
  • Laura H.

Talk about value! The Business Lunch Special at $5.99 is just that. I ordered for a team meeting, so it was truly a business lunch. It contains shish kabob, kifta kabob, shawarma, chicken tender and falafel and is served with rice, salad and pita bread. It's a huge portion and probably could have served as three separate meals for me.The rice was great, in addition to most of the meats. The only one I didn't care for was the chicken, as it was pretty dry. However, everyone enjoyed their lunches, and you just can't beat this price for the quantity of food included.

  • Jaci Y.

Who doesn't like Pita Inn right? New location and delicious combo platters for $9.95 in the evening $6 for lunch special. The best falafel and pita bread around! The new location has a huge dining room seating. We'd totally recommend people to get their Middle Eastern Food there.

  • Janey Y.

The first time I tried this was actually when my hospital internship ordered party trays. I made it a goal to try it out again, and I did so one year later when it was close to my rotations. One thing on my to-do list-- Is there anything like this in Los Angeles?! I love their falafel sandwich and the pita came out warm and soft. I may epitomize the meaning of "foodie", but I ordered both a combination lunch meal and a falafel sandwich (for two meals of course!). Would love to come back again if I ever see myself nearby!

    (5)
  • Roman S.

from the outside this place doesn't look inviting. frankly, it's pretty rundown looking and the inside is not the best. however, the food more than makes up for the lack of atmosphere (although the music can be a bit too loud). the food is quite tasty and it's really affordable. the $6 lunch option is one of the best middle east options i've seen. it's like a sampler plate and it's cheap. their "salad" that comes with it can be improved. don't know why they call it a salad since it doesn't even have any dressing.

    (5)
  • Nate B.

Reasonably priced and fairly swift if not always fast, Pita Inn is a tasty treat that perhaps I overindulge in. But it's far too good for me to feel more than a slight twinge of regret. I'm a big fan of the Lamb Kabob Sandwich, my wife loves the Falafel and we're both into the hummus. She swears that Pita Inn has the best baklava and I find it hard to argue with her. Writing this review has made me hungry for Pita Inn, I think I'll go there now!

  • Jessica C.

Hands down the best pita bread in Chicago - we go there and buy a dozen for $2 (in a to go bag, not as a side to a meal), freeze them and then toast the in the toaster until they repuff - really, no one does them better. And that's saying something because I've bought pita bread from lots of middle eastern bakeries all around the area. I also highly recommend the lunch platter (best deal in town) the kefta kabab, chicken shawarma, and chicken tenders. Oh, and also, try the mint iced tea - great compliment to the meal. Years ago it was hilariously cheap. Now it's just cheap and still tasty :)

  • Jessica L.

Great for carry out or dine in. Have been coming here for over 10 years. Inexpensive medditeranean food! Their $5 lunch special is easily the best deal in town. Various kinds of meat, salad, and rice and pita all for a low amazing price. My favorite is the chicken tenders (yellow chicken served with yellow rice and salad).

The portion of food are great and its tasty. I give 4 stars because i ve tasted better chicken tender with better spice. But it really good just i expected more...

The lamb kebobs. WOW. Just - Wow. Perfectly prepared, whatever they do to them, and however they do it (I'm a kebob newbie). Tender little flavorful lamb medallions, just a little pink in the middle, on a bed of rice that you want to keep eating forever. I got the lamb kebob entree and I'm glad that I paid the extra $1 to upgrade to the fatoush salad, because the parsley in it and other flavors were such great companions to the lamb. I also got my companion and I a container of garlic sauce, which was also well worth it, because if you stick your lamb with a little fatoush salad into a pita (DO THIS!), ya just need a little sauce in there too. I've been daydreaming about going back every day since I've been, and will make it a regular stop any time I head south to the Chicagolands. You order up front, get a number and pick up your food when its called. Fast and super casual atmosphere; inexpensively priced. We received kind, thoughtful and patient service at the register.

Hands down best middle eastern food!! Everything I've gotten here is good. Both chicken and beef shwarma absolutely delish. Babaganush, falafels, and Jerusalem salad all a few of my favs. However pita inn has gotten pricey!!! A family is easily spending $40+ on dinner here yet they want to charge you $1 for bread after your first basket. Then .50 for sauce. And the dinner meal portions have gotten smaller. The lunch special is still very reasonable around 6$. Regardless these reviews might be pointless to them because they've gotten their clientele up. All the locations are packed!!

    (4)
  • Ag C.

I would have given them at least a 4 if not for them repeatedly left something out of my order. The last time they left out the falafel I paid for. This time I ordered 6, clearly paid for 6, n I got 4! What the hack, n they are way to busy deal w little thing like that but it costs me $1.50 n not enough falafel to go around.

  • Tabahi H.

The one star is for the awesome pita bread. I was expecting a healthy vegetable packed pita sandwich. No such luck. I had the schwarma which was very dry with shredded iceburg lettuce and tomato slice. I'd say this was the subway of Mediterranean food. So sad.

  • Liz L.

Low priced, freshly prepared Mediterranean fare! Visiting family in the Chicago area and they recommended we stop in here for a quick bite. $4.99 for a filling-sized chicken or beef Shawarma sandwich! Also ordered a handful of other appetizers: falafel, grape leaves and Pita with Hummus. The best part is that everything was remarkably fresh tasting and well-made. Pita is fluffy but sturdy, hummus is creamy and tastes perfect, grape leaves moist and tender, and the falafel was so crispy on the outside and warm and cake-like on the inside. The house Tahini and hot sauces are great. Nothing is overly-flavored or salty. The hot mint tea is refreshing with free refills. Ample dining area, cool color changing bubble wall, and clean tables. Definitely keeping this place in mind when we come back next time!

  • Calin D.

Best Hummus ever. I've eaten at least 50 kinds and these cats are #1 in my book. This location has a well laid out people flow and a large parking lot, as well as the same wonderful pita and falafel as always. Fountain drinks, plenty of seats indoors and out, and all kinds of yummy food at reasonable rates, what else could you ask for? Kids and in-laws will like it too!

    (5)
  • Marianne A.

Everything is delicious, especially the rice and sauces. Go-to spot for Mediterranean when out in the burbs. ABT+Pita Inn after=

    (5)
  • Chrissy S.

I have been to pita inn many times. The food is never bad but in my opinion never that great. I do really like the rice. Tonight I got the kifta kabob plate which was seasoned beef patties, rice, and a side salad. The meat was okay but nothing special. The hummus is also mediocre. I like the fact that it stays open until 11 so I don't have to choose a fast food option, but I wouldn't come here when other good restaurants are open.

    (2)
  • Gracey D.

This restaurant is wonderful. The staff is always friendly and the cashier even gave me a free falaffel because I've never had one before! I ordered the chicken shawarma which was delicious and their yogurt sauce is literally perfection. The rice is simple, but so tasty. My date ordered the combination entree which he said was amazing. The one and only complaint I have that prevented me from giving them a full 5 stars is the steak is always on the tough side. It's delicious but very chewy. Over all, I love this place and will continue to be a repeat costumer.

    (4)
  • Laurie W.

For years this is my favorite restaurant for this kind of food...I usually get the lentil soup and salad. My kids get the pita sandwich special and we love the yellow rice!!!! Always feel great after leaving.

    (5)
  • Ace R.

I have been a customer for over 12 years and this place has always been great. The food is fresh, delicious, and priced just right. Portions are great as well...everything on the menu is delicious so just try different items. Don't forget to add a side of babaganoush!

    (4)
  • Mike L.

This spot can't be beat. It can get busy and crowded, but the quality of the food makes up for it. I get the combo plate every time because everything is so good, I can't decide. If you're reading this, just go here already.

    (5)
  • Anooj S.

My family has been eating here since I was a child and it has never disappointed. Being that my family is vegetarian, we would always get the falafel plates which till this day are great. I have grown to love their chicken and lamb as well. Their lunch special is a steal! Service is always promt and efficient.

  • Denise S.

I've had hummus in Israel, so my frame of reference is tweaked. Nothing is as good as hummus there. However, the hummus at Pita Inn is really yummy. For take out food, they are really rocking it. Nice pita, warmed up for your noshing pleasure. Of course super yummy vegetarian options. I had a falafel sandwich and tangy tahini sauce. Plenty of seating if you want to sit and eat. They have super quick take out.

    (4)
  • Shaila L.

Excellent service! Amazing food! Fresh and worth the price! Their lunch special is $5.99 which comes with falafel, salad, rice, chicken, gyro meat and beef skewer. Definitely worth the price! Great atmosphere too!

    (5)
  • Matt A.

Solid Mediterranean cuisine. Chicken shwarma is fantastic and 5.99 for a business lunch special is best deal around. Only complaint is the music. I feel like they should have a snake tamer in the corner. Other than that it's good food at good price. There is another on Dempster in Skokie. Same owner I think.

    (4)
  • Halisa V.

Went to all of the locations several times and loved it every time! The combination plate is a popular item and their hummus is really good. I also used them for catering several times. Great food!

  • Shambavi K.

I had a nostalgic visit here over the weekend. Last time I had Pita Inn was high school or college. The place is still going strong now. It's a good compromise for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. I could not believe the number of Indian customers at this location. ...my family being one of them by coincidence :P. The food is fresh and made to order. I like the combo plate so I can try a little of everything. The combo plate does not come with lamb however maybe you can request (?). I actually enjoyed the juicy and tasty chicken breast (it was not dry at all). I am usually a fan of the kifta, shawarma, and baba ghannoug (eggplant/yogurt dip to share).

    (5)
  • Lisa A.

I go to the Pita Inn in Skokie usually but have visited their location here and in Buffalo Grove and consistently you get the freshest food and speedy service no matter where you go and it is so economical as well. I always order the falafel sandwich but their combination lunch platter is the best deal and you get to eat a little of everything. Heavenly...

    (5)
  • Heidi L.

Love this place! So much better than Naf Naf! I always get the chicken shwarma sandwich and hubby gets some variation of lamb kebab (either combo or sandwich). The combo is good enough for 2 meals! I love the tahini and salsa that you can get up front. Salsa is spiiiicy. It's probably not called salsa but it sure looks like it and tastws very fresh. Place is clean and there is always a busser going up and down collecting plates and cleaning tables. Tip him a couple dollars if you can.

    (5)
  • S K.

The food is always consistently great. Staff is friendly. We ordered the combination plate to get the best of everything. Falafel and hummus always go well as an appetizer. Perfect place for a great, inexpensive meal!

    (5)
  • Alina S.

Nothing bad to say about this location AND/OR Pita Inn in general. I LOVE this gem of a mediterranean place. They have the tastiest yellow rice, hummus that is perfectly seasoned and the most amazing Kefte. I always end up ordering the combo platter so I can taste EVERYTHING! I noticed that recently they added chicken to the combo plate, which is awesome because I would always find myself adding chicken on. Speaking of the chicken, it is seasoned unbelievably as well. The side salad provided with all the platters is also always fresh and crunchy. Let's just say last night I ate it for dinner and ate every morsel of the leftovers for lunch today.

have been here 3 times now ; had business lunch with chicken ; chicken was good but rice is always off now a days any place you in chiland ; no pine nuts no nothing ; ( i have tried places in Villa Park also Jerusalem cafe , Shwarma Inn etc.) Second time had the filafel wrap ; it was good edible. the sauce is watery and spicy sauce is like a salsa of some sort ; they do have the actual garlic sauce with anything Finally chicken shawarma dinner ; chicken had the raw smell ; could eat 1/2 of it then found it too bland ; no salt no pepper ; I have eaten middle eastern food in Muscat ; Dubai ; Abu Dhabhi , Bangalore & Hyderabad ... the biggest problem here is they don't use any of the ethnic spices at all ; just plain bland ; it is almost Swedish version of Arabic food ... I could eat the sandwich again here

stale dry food bad service the reason for one star is its cheap make sure if pay for soda you get the right red cup or the old man will catch you and ask for recipt for your soda do people actully steal soda not recommended

  • Sarah V.

This place is nothing short of amazing! The food is absolutely delicious, the place is well decorated, clean and the service is quick! This isn't a full sit down restaurant. You order, find a table and then wait for your number to be called. The kitchen is right behind the counter and you can see how fresh the food is. The falafels are perfectly crisp, the chicken is juicy and the kabobs are well seasoned. They have a variety of sauces that can be added to your food should you find it bland. The hot sauce is really hot and a little goes a long way. Your money does too! The prices are so reasonable and the portions are large. The lunch special is the way to go! As far as appetizers, the hummus and falafels are a must!

Making the trip to Pita Inn is well worth the trip from the city on the weekends. I have been going here for several years and have never been let down with any of their meals. The restaurant is right on Milwaukee Ave and has a large parking lot. When the weather is right, I often eat outside on the spacious patio. Pita has a pretty big selection of authentic Middle Eastern food. As far a price goes, I think it's very reasonable. Dinner can get packed, so I make an effort to go during lunch time. I also appreciate that they have a bus person who seems to constantly be cleaning tables and clearing plates. My favorite dish on the menu is Chicken Tenders with hummus. It's a delight to find healthy food that tastes really great.

  • Danny L.

The best middle eastern food in the Chicago area. The daily business lunch special can not be beat for the price and the amount of food they give you. We've been dining hre for more than 20 years and will continue to do so on a regular bases.

There lunch special is hard to beat. Super cheap and super good.

  • Jorge M.

I have been going to Pita inn for almost 3 years now and it's just to much. I found this place by mistake driving to the suburb but I'm so happy I found it. They have business lunch special for only $6.99 but with so much food that unless you are very hungry you would have to take it to go. This lunch comes with combination of Shish Kabob, Kifta Kabob, Shawarma, Chicken and Falafel served with rice pilaf, salad and a pita bread. Seriously I loveeeeee this place so much you can't bit that price.

  • Sameer R.

Great food. Always consistent and cooked to perfection. You know this place js good because they are always busy.

    (4)
  • Celia C.

Place is clean. This is a fast food type atmosphere, you order at the counter and seat yourself, your number will be called when your food is up. I found this food to be a somewhat watered down version of typical middle eastern food, and believe me, I know what middle eastern food IS. The falafel was good, the kabobs were tasty, the shawarma isn't true shawarma, its more like gyro meat, the rice was overcooked. My experience was mediocre enough not to want to go back.

Chicken shawarma!! Lunch combo $6!! Where does it stop? Flavor city can't get enough of pita inn , always consistent, fast clean food made to order

  • Molly A.

I crave this place all the time. The vegetarian combo platter is the best think you can get. Comes with 3 stuffed grape leaves, 3 falafel, hummus, tabouleh, babaganoush, Israeli salad and pita!! All that food for only $8! Such a steal

  • Biancs R.

Great customer service, amazingly crispy falafel, & open late :))

  • Alvina C.

There's something about luscious fried balls of chickpeas in my mouth that I can't get enough of. I heart falafel! I love that this place is open late, has ample parking, seating, and uber friendly staff. Never disappointed when we come here. Always leave full and happy. Lunch special rocks but even for non-lunch special times---for the amount of food you get--it's not bad at all! Love washing down my copious amounts of meat and falafel with the mint tea. Can;t get enough of Pita Inn! This place is always hoppin!

The guy who works at the counter call Sulayman has to be the rudest person I have ever seen. He made the wrong order for my family and when I complained he told me "you have to eat it" and said the work sh!t in Arabic. Will never eat here again

Great food and great price. I love that I can get a vegetarian meal. Can be really busy, but is worth the wait (which is not long). Love the falafel, hummus, pita, salad, rice, etc. Really good, inexpensive good.

I love their food. Everything is cooked perfectly. They use great seasoning. The place is always clean. Very quick service.

The lunch special is now $6, unlike when I last went here before my fall 2014 revisit to this place. It was nice to come back, since it proved the food here is still as good as I remember. Though I don't think I'll quite give it 5 stars, I'm glad it's there when I'm getting Mediterranean food cravings in the suburbs.

Pita Inn is the best casual Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant that I've been to! While you do have to order your food, and then bring it to your seat yourself, the value, the taste and everything in between makes the experience wonderful. The food is usually ready very quickly, it is priced perfectly, and is slammed during lunch hours. Everything is always fresh, and the owner pays attention to even the smallest details. It is one of our favorite casual spots in the area for this type of food! It is definitely a must visit!

I have tried much of the menu but I keep coming back to the chicken shawarma, the decadently large plate when I am out of control and the sandwich when I am running a few pounds heavy for the week. My father won't come along because Pita Inn lacks the traditional greasy/spicy gyros served almost any other place you go that has vertical broilers. Their equivalent has a beef flavor, no grease, and is not spicy. Dad's tastes run more toward Dengeos where I confess that the gyros are seductive. Back to Pita Inn, the food is excellent and a the prices are fair. So why only 4 stars? Because you have to pass three "You Customers Are Really An Annoyance to Management" signs in the 15 feet from the front door to the counter where you order. Chef Robert Irvine of Restaurant Impossible would make them take it down.

Good food, horrible attitude by the cashier 'Marlin' (that's what her name tag said). Very unprofessional, not coming back to this place.

We had carry out food from Pita Inn while in Glenview, IL. I opted for lentil soup and a falafel sandwich. This lentil soup was so comforting and perfect...pretty close to the way my Mom makes lentil soup. Following this with a falafel sandwich was just perfect. The only problem is, I ended up quite sleepy afterward, but it was super tasty. So, this is a place I will patronize the next time I'm in Glenview. What a treat!

I love every food item here.... My favorite is the vegetarian plate..... So delicious!

  • Sonia B.

Pita Inn has been one of my go-to's for years and the quality of the food has always remained consistently yummy! :) Their business lunch special is unreal! It is about $5 and can feed 2 people...the portion is huge! My favorites are the business lunch special, the chicken shwarma over hummus, the falafel, the lamb kabob sandwich, and the rice! The service is quick and they accept phone orders. This place is always crowded, but offers a rather large size of eating space and they have outdoor seating.

    (5)
  • Otto A.

Yep! Great value and decent food. I won't go on and on. For under $12 you get plenty of good food. Beat that!

  • K T.

I've been here so many times that I'm actually sick of their food. At first I really liked it - portions were large, they give you lots of meat, and you can eat their dinners at least twice -especially the combination plate. But at one point, the food became a little too dry for my taste (even with the tahini and hot sauce), and just a little overseasoned and left a funky aftertaste. I do still go back once in a while and just order the sandwiches so I only eat it once -Chicken Shawarma and Falafil sandwiches are still good, and their Hummus and Baba Ghanouj are yummy as well.

  • U.M. S.

I absolutely love this place. The food is gloriously delicious from the beef shawarma to the baklava! Also be sure to try their garlic butter, it is to die for. During the week from 11am-3pm be sure to snag their BUSINESS LUNCH SPECIAL which contains a combo of Shish Kabob, Kifta Kabob, Shawarma, Chicken Tender and Falafel served with rice pilaf, salad and homemade pita bread AKA a total bargain for $6. I had left overs for days!

  • Anwar H.

Always a great place for some Mediterranean food. The Executive Lunch special is a steal! The meat combo plate was too much food. The beef, lamb and chicken were all fantastic. Their Baklava's are the best... too bad I forgot to pick one up the last time I was there. Ambiance is so so, but the food is excellent!

    (5)
  • Krunal P.

Food is excellent but service is terrible. If one person takes your damn sauce you can not blame the whole damn race. ITs a sauce get over it because thats the only reason many folks come here. Soon Naf Naf is going to take over because of your service issue.

    (3)
  • Len L.

Best hummus I've had in a long time. All the food is good, but oh the hummus. You need to wait in line to order, then wait to get your own food. If you don't mind the line you will be fine. This is great food!

    (5)
  • Becca H.

Like others said the food is good but the employees attitude sucks! Make sure to ask for sauce for your salad on the combo meal or you won't get any dressing for the salad or sauces for your meats.

Best place plus free refills. Its everything you want in a middle eastern restaurant. . Great service, great food, fast and cheap.

My opinion on Pita Inn has not changed but I want to add a couple of new "good" points. First of all, I'm so glad they were able to expand the back of their lot for parking spaces--- that really helps during the busy lunch times. Now, if either businesses next to them were to close or move, I would like to see this PI restaurant expand. Second of all, my wish is coming true because Pita Inn is opening their 4th location in Mundelein IL. I'm thrilled!!!!

  • Christopher B.

Just put up with this dump on Mother's day. Place was packed and all tables were occupied, huge crowd inside door AND in the dining area because there was NO place to sit. People were watching the diners like hawks ready to pounce if it looked like a table was about to finish. And what did the jerks that run this place do to help their customers, NOTHING! THEY RANG UP THE SALES WHILE THEIR CUSTOMERS WERE TREATED LIKE PIGS AT THE TROUGH.

  • Ryan M.

Fantastic food and it's an unbeatable deal. $5.99 for the lunch special that comes with 3 different meats, rice, pitas, and lettuce. The ordering was quick and I had my food in less than 5 minutes. Plenty of seating and outdoor seating as well for those few nice days we get in Chicago! Overall, I'll definitely be back!

  • Johnatan A.

We were shopping in the area and wanted a quick fix for lunch. The reviews seemed to suggest the hummus was good. What a disappointment. It was clearly taken from a mass produced box and not made in house. For decent hummus, go elsewhere.

    (1)
  • Violet V.

The food is stunning! The entrees come out quickly and the house is packed! Not only does the food come out instantaneously, but the taste is amazing. The hummus is rich, and the "Business Lunch Special" is delectable. I will definitely be back.

Love love love. Still can't find anything in the city that beats their meat. Lamb pieces amazing. Best baba I have ever had. Even my hubs is a fan and he hates eggplant.

  • Nineveh Z.

I love their food! The employees (99% guys) always stare tho. Lol. But very quick service even when they're busy. I love their chicken shawrma (salad, pita, plate, etc.) yum yum and also recommend their combo plate

FAST, inexpensive, and quality - TRIPLE THREAT! The falafels are da bomb.

  • MoMo K.

Great service. We catered from here for one of our events. I was suppose to pick up the food at 3 but ended up picking it up at 7! The cashier said they had to remake my food ($190 worth) because the shelf-life of the food expired and they aren't allowed to keep it that long. However, the cashier was very nice about it even though it was my fault. He even brought the food out to my car. I felt horrible they had to make my food twice. At least you all know your food is freshly made and never microwaved!

  • Mariane M.

I thought maybe writing a review for this place would be redundant since everyone I know (myself included) LOVE the chicken/ beef schwarma, hummus and falafels! I am extremely picky about chicken (or any meat for that matter) and 9/10 times go for the veggie option but this is a rare place where I find that I am equally satisfied with both. Staff is friendly and helpful and there is plenty of seating. Being so close to x-sport, this will probably be my the go-to place for flavorful, protein-packed meals for my gym buddies and I. Love this place!

    (5)
  • Jayson J.

This is a great restaurant for a somewhat healthy, affordable lunch. I enjoy the businessman special as it fills me up for around $5 +tax. The kabob is very good and their hummus is always a nice side dish. It gets a bit crowded so plan that into your commute time over there.

    (4)
  • Payal S.

I'm a regular here. May be biased but probably the best falafel around. I always get the falafel plate and share with someone else. Today I changed it up and added the garlic sauce which was yum. A must try for anyone who lives in Chicago!

    (5)
  • Eric G.

I can't say enough positive things about Pita Inn. I used to go there a lot when my job was closer. Their business lunch special is always a winner. Place is always busy but they get through the orders pretty quickly. When I have a jonesing for express Mediterranean food at a reasonable price, this is the place to go to. Wish I lived closer to the area, I'd go more often.

    (5)
  • Angie P.

This place is a great go to for vegetarians and vegans alike. I bring all of my friends here to enjoy a quick bite. Our favorites are of course hummus, falafel, tabuleh, babaganoush. (Sorry for the spelling) The food is consistent, great quality (fast food) and nice portions. I'm a fan, and will be for a long time!

Great food, great service, lots and lots and lots of vegetarian options. Good ambiance for a casual date, more restaurant looking than most fast food places. Try the baklava, it's yummy!

  • Nick R.

Pretty good middle eastern food for the price. Especially if you stop in during the lunch special for 4.95. The rice is really tasty as well as the falafil. The chicken is seasoned nicely but I've had a few pieces that have a strange texture. The kabob chunks or ground are not very flavorful but pretty good for the price. The white sauce is delicious on too of your food. This location on Milwaukee ave is way better than the location on dempster.

I've been eating at Pita Inn in Skokie and in Glenview for well over a decade; I'm a loyal fan. The food is really good and a great value. FOOD: - Business Lunch Special (highly recommended) offered Mon-Fri: 11am-3pm (as long as the weekday is not a holiday). The special is $4.95 and includes Shish Kabob, Kifta Kabob, Shawarma, Chicken, and Falafel served with rice pilaf, salad and pita bread. Outside of weekday lunch hours, this is the same as the Combination Feast which is $8.99. - Lentil Soup: pretty good - Lamb Kabob Sandwish: pretty good - I've seen the rice pilaf being poured out of a plastic bag once, which didn't look appetizing, but I guess whatever works is fine. - Sometimes the meats seem a little overcooked, but everything is still tasty. SERVICE: - They call out your number, and you pick up your food, salsa and yogurt sauces, and utensils at the counter. - Staff clears tables fairly quickly. - One tip you should be aware of: check your receipt for accuracy. The cashier sometimes charges for the wrong entree even if you receive the food that you ordered... which doesn't work out in your favor. AMBIANCE: Casual; nicer fast food restaurant. Many different ethnic groups eat here. PARKING: Free parking is available on three sides of the restaurant. From the street, there is only one entrance and one exit, meaning traffic flows one way only. Be aware of the numerous clueless drivers that frequent this establishment. Overall, this place is worth is worth checking out, especially for lunch.

Got the veggie platter with grape leaves, hummus, baba ganoush, etc. and it was pretty delicious and a great value. Very kind service as well.

Possibly the best "fast food" restaurant I've been too. Big lunchtime crowd testifies to its popularity. The falafel are fresh and tasty - nicely seasoned. The humus is rich and creamy with a nice garlic taste - not too strong. The baclava is amazing. Service is fairly fast and they bus the tables. I found this place using Yelp while on a quick business trip. Great find. I wish I had one near my home.

  • Melissa C.

The food wasn't anything spectacular, but it was still good and tasty. It wouldn't be at the top of my list for a fast food-like Mediterranean restaurant.

  • Janni V.

See my review for the Dempster Pita Inn location. All of the good points hold true for this location, but this location trumps the other because of the parking situation and the outdoor seating. Sure, it doesn't have the bakery right next door. That's a minus point, but not enough to deduct a whole star. Love Pita, and look for excuses to be in the area during lunch when the weather is nice! We've stopped here while on a long motorbike ride more than once, too. Great food, nice people, good value. Can't say fairer than that.

  • Chris L.

This place is good but seems like they're getting a bit cocky, and they show it how they treat the customers.

    (5)
  • Jeff C.

Oh I just keep coming back here for the great food and flavors. They added to the fatoush salad a colorful group of red, yellow and green peppers now. Now I know that the non green peppers are higher priced but they are sweeter tasting and for them to add these and keep the price the same says alot about the owners pride in the food they serve. Highly recommended.

  • Oliver S.

People really do exaggerate about this place. It's pretty simple food, nothing special unless you never tried middle-eastern food. -The beef is very chewy and hard to swallow -The staff members need to loosen up and smile -Seating is packed -People always get in your way if you're trying to pick up your food.

  • Peter K.

WOW! The business lunch special is awesome!! For $4.95 plus tax (I think it comes out to be slightly less than $6), you get all sorts of meat (lamb, beef, and chicken), rice, a salad, and pita bread. The pita bread was a bit stale tasting but everything else was AWESOME!!! My only regret? That I'm moving away and I won't be able to experience this lunch special more! Holy cow you get a lot of food. I couldn't finish it all. The chicken is well seasoned, the beef is tender, and the lamb is thinly cut and doesn't have too strong of a gamey flavor. LOVE IT! I'd recommend trying this special if you can.

  • Michael C.

I love Mediterranean food. Having said that, we have been meaning to try Pita Inn. The luncheon special was very tasty, but the pita bread was kind of dry. It was decent for $4.99 and we'll be back. The ONLY problem I had with the place is the VOLUME of the music that they played. People were actually yelling to each other, and when the called out the number of the order that was ready, the music cut out and it was blissfully quiet! Food is good. I've had better, but for the price it's really nice. And filling!!

Juicy beef I can never make! Falafel-tried about 10 in chicago-this is the bomb!!!!! Saucea are free hahahaha never have I saw them free delicious ! The pita is fresh, a little crusty on outside, inside soft gorgeous!!! The lamb has frash herbs ah!! Service so nice, I saw the owner interview a girl for a job. Hi son was there they were so nice! He was smiling, he also treated his friend to a feast so I saw couple of items hehe Best mniamuuuu

Over the years, I have visited the Pita Inn in both Wheeling and in Glenview. Since I am a Yelp contributor, I thought it would be a good time to write a short review of the Glenview establishment. Pita Inn, for the uninitiated, is a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern casual counter-service restaurant. About half of the people who come in eat on-site in their dining room, and the other half are take-out customers. As others have mentioned, they offer a huge combo lunch plate for $4.98 M-F, and you can knock off a buck if you do not want a chicken breast included in your meal. I happened to arrive today (a Saturday), and they hike the price for the plate to $8.98. My wife ordered it and had enough leftovers that she got a box to bring home for another lunch. I bought a vegetarian plate for $6.98, but I managed to consume it all at one sitting. After you order and pick up your entrée, you can go into a large adjoining room to eat the meal. The facility is a converted drive-in restaurant of some type, but it is comfortable and can accommodate at least 100 diners. The room is generically decorated, and does not offer any Mediterranean ambience of any kind, except for a non-stop track of Middle Eastern music that (I guess) sets the atmosphere. I enjoy coming to Pita Inn once every 6-9 months. The food is good (in my opinion), and is a welcome contrast from the Eurocentric meals I usually eat. While there, it looks like about half of the diners are from somewhere in the Middle East, and people from all ages and ethnicities are present, too. I can't say much about the service, since this is a counter-service/pick up environment; but one rarely waits more than 10 minutes (usually 5) to get his meal, which is placed on a cafeteria tray for you to carry out to your selected dining table. So, I give Pita Inn a good rating for good prices (M-F, at least), and enough tasty food to satisfy me.

  • Yari P.

The beef shawarma is delish! Chicken is tender. Hummus is good (not the best). Rice is OK. Place is clean and employees seem nice. Overall it was a good experience. I guess I have to try more things on the menu to truly rate it more accurately. Will be back soon!

    (3)
  • Muj N.

Ummm... very bland and they compensate by giving salsa. The meats as part of the combo are chewy. Falafel on the other hand was excellent. Nice people, good service

    (2)
  • Nabeel S.

Pita-Inn has been my favorite joint for years! Low price, huge portions, happy tummy. I will give this location 2 stars because the men working behind the counter are rude. One of the guys gave me a hard time when I reached for the extra sauces that are available to take as you please. There's a sign right there that says so. If you ever ask them for extra bread or substitute one side for another they give you the look of death. I begin to feel bad that I even bothered lol.

    (2)
  • Shaye Lee C.

Very happy with Pita Inn!!!! The Chicken and Beef Shawarma entrees with Hummus were delicious and extremely satisfying. The meat was full of flavor, pita bread was fresh, portions were excellent, and the staff was friendly and eager to answer any questions. I recommend checking out this place!

As an operator, I have a lot of respect for what The man and his sons have accomplished. Their restaurants are ultra clean, well run, super tight, and bright. Foods always comes hot and is always fresh. While their hummos, baba ghanouj, and tabouleh are really high grade in terms of flavor, their grilled meat sandwiches and platters are very dull in my opinion. Very little flavor. No seasoning. Tough not tender meats. A weak shawerma. NO CREATIVITY HERE. Same iceberg, tomato, on soft dull pita. No innovation overt the years whatsoever. This is why as an arab, i rarely feel the desire to come here and eat. When you have had grilled meats in the Arab World even from street vendors (West Bank, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan), what is offered here wouldnt come close to making cut. Yes sandwiches are cheap 4.59-5.99, but their weak with little flavor and meat that is far from tender. Id be happy to pay 7-10$ for bad ass sandwiches on various bad ass mid east breads. You wont get that here. Dont get me wrong. While not as cheap as it was once, it offers good value especially the business lunch special. However, if i wanted to bring an American friend to a Middle Eastern restaurant to experience the incredible flavors, Pita Inn would not be on my short list. If i wanted to show someone how to run a great fast casual restaurant operation that sells good fresh food fast at good price in very clean and nice setting, id send them here.

O-M-G! Being from Birmingham, AL, I crave good Mediterranean food and this place totally fulfilled the craving. I am glad I discovered this gem of a place thanks to Yelp. When we stepped in the Line was long, but moved very quickly. We got our food pretty fast and the service was great. The staff was friendly and quick! The food was delicious! I had this every day I was in Chicago! I tried the Falafel wrap -- so, so, so good! Cooked to perfection. Also, tried the mixed meat plate with all kinds of meat, can't remember what its called but everything was great. Can't wait to go back to Chicago and visit Pita Inn again!

  • Fred M.

The falafel sandwich I just ate was as good as what my Lebanese grandmother used to make. Well... ok. I never had a Lebanese grandmother, but if I did, I'm sure she couldn't make falafel this good. The perfect combo of crunchy outside and gooey, chewy center. The hummus was also excellent - super smooth and you can definitely taste the tahini. Lentil soup was good, but not mind blowingly so. Excellent food, excellent price, I will be back. My pretend Lebanese grandmother would be so proud.

$6 lunch special till 3pm almost feeds almost two and couldn't be any more fresh. Get a mint tea also.

  • Yelp F.

I tried the gourmet falafel wrap and it awesome. The best falafel sandwich in ever had. Also like the hot sauce though I wish the tahini was a lil more creamy. Next day I tried the lifts kababsandwich but didn't in find it as that great as that falafel sandwich. I wish the beef had some more spices and it was a lil more juicy. Also I wish it had some more veggies like tomatoes & cucumber. Overall a great experience. The pricing is also really good.

  • David L.

my wife and i only go to get the daily business lunch special. portion are usually fair. $4.95 for a full platter isn't bad at all. lunch is very busy so either arrive early or little after the lunch rush. don't have a single complaint. no need to get friendly with staff - everyone gets treated the same. parking in the back has been expanded for more room. people there are pretty polite; and at time feel safe because state troopers come for their special lunch too. happy eating!!!

    (4)
  • Inae L.

I always end up getting the lunch special because it's affordable and has a little bit of everything. So good. Just wish they had dill rice since I'm not a big fan of the oily kind of rice they serve. They let you substitute one meat for another, which I switched my chicken to another falafel. $6 can get you a full satisfactory meal, also comes with warm pita. They also have the best hot sauce in town, and hummus is pretty good, even for someone who had some of the best in the middle east. Their other sauces are also a must-try.

  • Anjolena M.

Delicious food, hands down. Lamb kabob entree totally rocks. However I am only giving this location 4 stars because I noticed they do things a little differently than the Wheeling location I grew up going to. All in all, the food tastes exactly the same. However, I noticed the portion sizes at the Mundelein location are not as big as the portion sizes in Wheeling. Very disappointing. For instance, the Chicken Entrée at the Wheeling location comes with four pieces of chicken. At the location in Mundelein it only comes with 3. And when you've grown up sharing these dishes with friends for over 10 years, something like one missing piece of chicken makes a difference.

  • David S.

I love Pita Inn and this location is a crowd pleaser due to it's speed and size, it can accommodate twice as many folks as the Skokie location, with the same exact delicious taste. I have been to the middle east, I still prefer Pita Inn. I tend to go for the sampler, but the hummus and falafel are to die for! Do yourself a favor and call ahead if you are in a rush for lunch, that was it is ready for you when you get there!

  • George J.

Awesome middle eastern food and a nice place. They have a great lunch special that just can't be beat $4.95 for a combination plate I believe it's from 11am to 3pm. I have been coming here for many years now and their food has been consistently good. Enjoy!

  • Kevin K.

This place is great. I work nearby and often go for their business lunch special which is a great deal for only $5! I don't know how they pull it off for that price, but they do, because the quality of the food is still really good. Gets crazy busy around noon so I would advise an early or late lunch!

  • Douglas B.

I love Pita Inn! I have been going to Pita Inn for years! They have an amazing lunch special during the week that can't be beat. You get rice, salad, two kinds of meat and rice for $4. And if you want Chicken, its an extra buck! The falafel here has got to be the best I've had. No other restaurant makes them as crispy and tasty as this place. I usually go for a kifta kabob sandwich or chicken tender sandwich with a small hummus and a half dozen falafel. The seasoning on the chicken and beef is super flavorful. The only thing is, if you want lunch during the week, you better beat the lunch rush because it gets uber packed in there. The lunch rush is insane! The place seems like a fast food place, but you get to sit down, the food is great quality and they clean up after you. It's a great place for lunch or dinner any day. The food is consistent and never disappoints.

This is a great spot for Mediterranean\ Arab cuisine. They have an open kitchen which is great, outdoor seating, and great interior decoration. They offer great lunch specials which are practically a steal. My favorite items are the shish kabob sandwich and falafels. Also they have the best hummus in Chicago!! I come here once a week and is practically my home.

I have a very simple palate and usually wont eat many different ethnic food but the boy brought me here for lunch and told me that I was gonna love it... Well he was right this place is AMAZING. I am not brave enough still to check out the entire menu but the chicken sharwarma is my go to meal and the rice is good too. And the prices are super cheap. If you like Mediterranean food I strongly suggest you try this place out!!

This is my go-to spot for days when I'm just not feeling domestic or have a busy schedule. They're ALWAYS busy so the food is fresh and prepared quickly. I never have to wait long and am always satisfied with my order. They have THE best falafel in all of Chicagoland.

Really awesome place (all three of the locations are equally great). I've brought 3 friends here, and they kept coming back on their own. The business lunch special gives you a good bang for your buck! The wait can be annoying during rush times, but the food is so yummy&inexpensive I can't complain!

This is the worst place you can possible order from. Do not go there, there are many other better places around Glenview, if you are craving Mediterranean cuisine. We have being ordering from Pita Inn for about six years now and unfortunately their service has been declining, as opposed to their prices. For the last few times we've had nothing but disappointments ordering from this fast food restaurant. Food items have being missing from our orders so often that we started checking our food every time before leaving the restaurant. Tonight was the worst experience of all. First they charged my husband double for a food he did not order and then they sent him home with a meat plate when he ordered a vegetarian option. Our extra bread was missing, too. I have seen that their business got bigger and they have more restaurants, maybe this is the reason for the decline. When I called to complain and spoke with their manager, Adel, he was nothing but rude on the phone and basically told me and my husband, who was there with the returned order that it is our fault and because they are very busy we should have being checking our orders including opening the boxes to make sure that we got was what we have order. Well, we also own a small business and I do know that this is definitely not the way you should respond to any consumer issues and complaints. If these guys want to operate this way, good luck to them. In the meantime we will spread the news among our family and friends living in Glenview and the neighboring suburbs that this is the place where nobody should get their food! Maybe if they loose some costumers because of their ignorance, they will start looking more into their costumer service and less into blaming the costumers for not checking their orders before leaving the restaurant.

Three words --- BUSINESS LUNCH SPECIAL You have got to make it here for the business lunch special monday to fridays from 11-3pm. A heaping plate of shawarma, kifta kabob, shish kabob and chicken , plus rice and salad and a falafel? Bring your appetite, and a friends appetite when you come here. After ordering your food, you are given a ticket stub, and you wait for your food. They are constantly pouring small bowls of tahini and hot sauce at the counter. I usually grab 2 of each, then I mix 1 bowl each with the other giving me the perfect trinity of sauciness; plain tahini, plain hot sauce, and *spicy tahini. I usually pay a buck and up-sub a Fattoush salad for the plain salad in the business lunch special. A huge lunch for under $7 and a free glass of water makes for a happy Keith. And even if you don't make it for the business lunch special, the food is just as good, and just as worth it any hour, any day of the week. Your belly will thank you for it.

Stopped in for a weeknight dinner. Often enjoy a meal at the Wheeling location, but this was my first at this restaurant. Expecting the same, I had a mixed response. Starting with placing my order. I was the only person in line (a rarity at Pita Inn, more often having a constant flow of diners), and the guy at the register was very impatient when I looked at the menu. I placed an order for Falafel and a drink, with money in hand. As soon as I finished the order, he put his hand out, literally 12" from my face, as I counted out the cash for him with the next folks just coming in and wondering what to order. Geez, guy! Can't you wait 10 seconds since you have to wait, anyhow?! Food was prompt and hot. The Falafel recipe they use is the same as I am used to, and I was very happy. The food service guys are very efficient, though they lack the tact and patience which indicate customer service is a priority when asking for sauces. Friendliest guy in the place was cleaning tables! Asked if I was finished when I was still cleaning out the tray, but came back as soon as he saw I put my napkin down. He smiled and was very friendly. The restaurant was clean and otherwise stocked except for one of the sauces (silverware, napkins, etc...). I would come back, though the Wheeling folks or just a little friendlier.

This place is spot on every time. Been going here since I was a kid, about 7 years of age. I guess that from 17 years ago, my taste hasn't changed! So i can't believe that I didn't post about this place sooner. Glenview location is excellent, but i grew up in Skokie/Evanston and went to the Dempster location before. Glenview's is better i feel because of that baba ganoush, that they somehow nail every time. Great chicken shwarma and you gotta pour on that tahini sauce. Don'r forget that red hot sauce if you like a little fire you in your mouth. I have a pallet for spicy food. This is delicious, quick and simple Middle Eastern food.

There is no greater lunch value than the $5 lunch combo. Add a bottomless iced mint tea and the value is still there.

Come here for the lunch special at $4.99! Monday thru Friday 11am-3pm I think. You get 3 different meats, rice, and salad. Can be enough to feed 2 people. Highly recommend the baklava - one of the best I've ever tasted! Plenty of seating, plenty of parking, and the food comes out fast!

  • Sherri B.

Had the ground lamb pita, to go-comes with tahini and very spicy delish hot sauce. It was super yummy, and economical to boot. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Open until 1130 pm on a Sunday, and hopping. I will definitely go here again.

  • Eric D.

Always good and friendly. The food is really very good. Even though this is a self serve type restaurant, that does not distract from the quality. The menu is a little limited, but a nice selection. Stick to the sandwiches and apps -- best choices.

I asked the cashier what he considered to be the best thing on the menu & he recommended what was essentially a combo platter of meat. Delicious. The service was great. The meal was plentiful. Would go back in a minute.

  • PJ J.

Babbaghanoush, hot mint tea, kefta plate, falafel sandwich to go, tahini sauce mixed in the rice. 50/50 chicken/beef shawarma. Business lunch is to die for, combo plate is to die for. This place is an institution, Skokie and Golf Mill are equally good. Props.

We just returned now from there. -We tried the Chicken Schwerma. First time trying one, so can't compare it to anywhere else. Very tasteful. Lots of good spices in that. It was a little dry, possibly could've used a little oil or some sort of cream sauce, but still very good. They looked small when on the plate, also, but filled us up pretty well (and I can usually eat a lot). -Baklava: there are 2 ways of making this that I know of. The common, easy and cheap way is with honey. The correct and authentic way is with liquid sugar. Pita Inn uses liquid sugar. Very sweet, very rare and very good, -The service and friendliness of the employees were very good. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to be treated so well. :) -One minor downside is that the parking spaces are a bit skinny, so many cars were parked over the lines. But there are many more spots around the other side and in the back. No headache so far, so I'm willing to believe there are no harmful chemicals in the meat's spices. :) -Summary: Clean, very good prices, not loud in seating area, friendly and helpful staff, good food and food appears to be healthy. (4 stars instead of 5 only because the schwerma was a little dry.)

when im home, i go to pita inn in wheling, which serves pretty much identical food. whenever i visit my parents in glenview, even after i devour home food, i cannot resist getting a dinner plate, with their chicken shawarma(whatever with spelling), falafel, or anything really.. since everything is good here. this place and any other pita inn i've been to, have been serving all consistently good food, so kudos for whoever owns this 'chain' inns. this place is a must visit place if you haven't... especially for lunch. so good!

  • Stacy S.

Tired of typical fast food? Pita is a fresh alternative. I'm a huge fan. The food is not only healthy, but affordable! If you can get here between the hours of 11am-3pm on weekdays, the Business Lunch Special is a must. It's a little bit of everything: shish kabob, kifta kabab, shawarma, chicken, falafel, rice pilaf, salad, and pita bread ALL for just $4.95. If I don't make it in time for the special, I either get the Hummus or Baba Gannoug as appetizers. As far as the types of kababs, shish kabab is my favorite. The beef has a tender, juicy taste. I usually go for the sandwich or the entree, if I crave a little more. The tahini sauce (white sauce) is really compliments the taste as well. I HIGHLY recommend Pita Inn for delicious mediterranean food.

  • Tushar B.

Pita Inn is simply just amazing. I've been going here on a regular basis since 2005. I have been to their other two locations (Skokie and Wheeling) and like this one the best because they are fast and have a very spacious location. The food is amazing. I usually get the Vegetarian Falafel plate, which is a lot of food for one person, with a side of Baba Ghannoug. You can get all of this food for less than $10! They have amazing tahini (white) sauce as well, which you can pick up when you get your food. Also, if you are looking for a nice sweet dessert, they have good Baklava. The only negatives about this place are that even with their expanded seating and parking, they are usually jam packed. It can be pretty hard to get a table, especially at night or during the weekends. Also, the pita bread can be dry and hard sometimes, as if it has been sitting out for a while. Even with these small negatives, I still love this place.

  • Clement C.

If you can make it here before the Lunch Special ends, you've got your deal right there. A little of everything for $5 and you'll leave asking yourself why..why did you eat all the rice! Booze would send this place through the roof, but they don't have alcohol, and I assume the owners like it that way.

  • Kareem A.

Best Mediterranean food around. Quick service if you don't go during lunch time. Keeping the quality consistent is what drives me daily to this place. It's a healthy and rather pretty inexpensive choice ( 5$ lunch special). 11am-3pm expect to wait a little cause it's packed

I wish these where closer to home but a few recent trips to this area has landed us in multiple Pita Inn locations. Although we found the Falafel was a bit dry and not nearly as good as what Taza does in the Loop, the Chicken Shawarma was very good. Decided to try the Baba Ghannoug and it was okay. The Mint Tea and Tamarind drinks were pretty good as well. Probably a 3 star experience, but a return trip to the Wheeling location easily kicked it up a star. This time we shared a Combination plate and the Shish Kabob was excellent, as was the Shawarma again. A small hummus plate with pita bread made the meal the perfect amount to share. And the fact that the food is cheap and served relatively fast makes it a no-brainer; if I worked nearby I'd be taking advantage of the $5 lunch menu 3 days a week.

Great spot for delicious mediterranean food at reasonable prices. Hummus sensational. Long line to order food, but it moves fast. Business luncheon special was a good deal. Try it as an alternative to the vast array of fast food spots and I think you will love it.

I survived my whole pregnancy here. Its a healthy alternative to fast food and the food is seriously amazing. I am not a huge fan of their rice. A bit bland but not awful. I love their chicken fatoush salad with their amazing viniagrette dressing and the chicken shawarma & hummus is to die for. I can't think of anything on the menu that isn't amazing

Food here is really good!!! Will definetely be coming back here when Im in the area.Had their Lamb Kabob w/some falafel.Really enjoyed it.Looks like its family owned which is a big plus for me.The people that took my order were really nice and friendly and so were the cooks.Had a side of hot sauce that was really tasty and not extremely hot.Just right!!!! I intend to try more items from their menu.

The food here is ridiculously delicious and so affordable! The lunch special is great if you are an omnivore and they have an amazing veggie combo for you herbivores. The staff is super friendly and the wait is never too, too long, even on the busiest workday. The only downside is that there is sometimes not enough sitting if you want to dine in. So, try to get there early or late for lunch to ensure that you can get a seat. Enjoy! I'm sure you will.

Been eating here for about 18 years since I was in Jr. High and I never get sick of this place. For a really long time I always got a combination but 7-8 year ago I started getting the Chicken schwarma and I never looked back. I'm addicted to it. Yeah true I can get a business lunch for $5 or so which has a little bit of everything except chicken schwarma but it just doesn't satisfy me. After living in NYC for 5 years I've tried many many chicken schwarmas hoping to find something as good as Pita Inn's and I have been unsuccessful at finding one. I still think the food at the Dempster location (original location) is better but this location will satisfy my cravings for sure.

  • Jennifer L.

This location is quite a bit larger than it's sister-store in Wheeling, but the food is pretty much the same! I heart Pita Inn! Fabulous Mediterranean food at a fair price. Very nice portion sizes - I always have enough to take home with me. I always get the chicken schwarma entree and it's just so tasty. Their red sauce is really spicy, and I love to torture my tastebuds by pouring it all over my rice/chicken. In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, I think that's what I'll get for dinner tonight. This place is ALWAYS packed. It's not fancy, so please don't go with that expectation. In fact, it's almost a "do-it-yourself" kinda place. You stand in line to order your food, then go grab a table. They call your #, you pick-up your food at the counter, and bring it back to your table. You get your own napkins, silverware, etc... So it's more like a "fast-food" place, but with hearty real food. However, nobody is there for the ambiance - cuz their food just ROCKS. Everyone I've ever brought there becomes a fan for life. I've never heard anyone say they disliked Pita Inn. Give it a try!

I can't say anything new about this place that hasn't been said already, but I'll reaffirm and sum up how great this place is with 3 simple words: BUSINESS LUNCH SPECIAL

  • Kathleen C.

Delicious, inexpensive food - you can't beat it! I've visited Pita Inn before, but it's been a while - I stopped in again and was delighted. The food was delicious as usual. I seriously love the hummus. I've also enjoyed all of the entrees as well. This is a great spot for quick, casual Mediterranean food in the suburbs. The food is fresh and flavorful and quite reasonably priced. A must visit. Food - 4 Atmosphere - 3 (a bit bright, more for a quick, casual meal or lunch) Bathrooms - 4 Service - 4 (no "real" table service, but the host taking orders is really helpful. The food came up quickly and the person cleaning tables is fast and efficient and everything is spotless). Value - 5 (Great Price/Value ratio)

Oh man, do I love Pita Inn. I was in this neck of the woods on Friday night and since I'd skipped lunch, I was starving and needed food quickly. I remembered Pita Inn was on my way home so my lovely mother and I went here. She's a vegetarian so Pita Inn seemed like the ideal spot for both of us. This place is packed, but it's a well-oiled machine and the service is friendly to boot. Just like David R mentioned in his review, the combination of taste and value simply cannot be matched. As I said earlier, I was starving so I ordered with reckless abandon. My mom couldn't believe how much I ordered for just the two of us, but at these prices, I couldn't pass them up. We shared a small baba ghannouj, Jerusalem salad, tabbouleh, fatoush salad and I also ordered a shish kebob entree. To that we each got a fresh-squeezed lemonade. All of this set me back just $16.20, plus I had plenty of leftovers. Everything was bursting with freshness and flavor. I initially had my doubts that the lemonade was freshly squeezed since it was dispensed from one of those wall containers, but after tasting it, I'm happy to report that it was homemade. I love Pita Inn and can't get enough of it. If only they opened a location in the Loop; I'd probably eat there every day. No joke.

I really can't add much to what people are saying about this place already. I've been going to this restaurant since I was a little kid with my family, and it holds a special place in my heart. Make sure you get enough: Baba ganoush (go extra on this, trust me) Falafels Beef Shawarma ...and hot sauce and white sauce by the truckload! :)

  • Nikhil A.

The Best Mediterranean food..... If you are vegetarian...Vegi Combo platter is the must have. You get salad, falafal, babaganoosh and Hummus. Top it with there HOT SAUCE and its paradise. Depending on the orders, the quantity of food is great. As known from my friends, chicken and other things are awesome too. We usually go as a group atleast once in 2 weeks. Don't forget to end it with baklawa...Muah :D

    (5)
  • Amit V.

I love the food here. Even if the place is busy you don't hv to wait too long to be served. The spice level is really low that's the only thing missing. Should add a few spicy meals too.. Overall, great food and a clean place.

  • Yvonne Y.

Winning! Two of us shared the hummus topped with beef shwarma plate and the lamb kabob served with rice, lettuce and tomatoes. You can taste the tahini in the hummus, yummy. The lamb kabob which weren't pieces of roast lamb but more ground lamb patties were very delicious and moist. Loved the spicy and creamy sauces on the side. We asked for the pickled olives/beets dish that's complimentary. Pita is fresh, soft and served warm. What an amazing meal.

  • Cecil S.

Grew up eating their chicken shawarma sandwiches from here. Their green spicy sauce is pretty spicy but it adds a ton of flavor to the pita sandwiches. You can mix it with the white sauces if it's too hot. There are some great $6 lunch specials where you get a lot of great different meats along with rice to mix it with. The Baklava at the front is sweet+delicious. This is a great place to also sit-down and eat, there's no waiter and you order your own food at the register; but they keep it super clean at this location and the busboys clean your tables/dishes after you're done. There are a few tables outside as well. Takes them roughly 10 minutes to prepare an order

    (5)
  • Katie P.

The food was decent. We had hummus for an appetizer which was good. My husband had the lamb kebabs, I had the kifta kebab. I would definitely recommend the lamb, my kifta was tasty, but overcooked. I think that part of the problem is that the meat is so thin it can easily get overcooked. The rice underneath the kebab was delicious. Note that if you get the salad on the side, you have to buy dressing for it separately.

Falafel, falafel, falafel. It's so flavorful here with their bomb homemade pitas, spicy sauce and delicious salad. I've only ordered the veggie plate from this location and I leave stuffed. I enjoy the grape leaves and salads but for me it's all about the falafel, baba and hummus. The baba is so tasty--smokey flavor but cool and creamy, I can just eat it with a fork. The veggie plate is a great deal at under $8. I'll be back to get the amazing lunch special soon.

Couple of friends and I stopped in for lunch right at 11:30am. We were one of the first to arrive before the line went out the door. Although there is no visible menuboard to order from, everyone seem to know exactly what they wanted. Of course my first glance was a photographic sign that read "Business Lunch Special $4.95". I was immediately sold at that point. The plate was like a sampler piled high with combination of Shish Kabob, Kifta Kabob, Shawarma, Chicken Tender and Falafel. Served with rice pilaf, salad and homemade pita bread. Add a drink to the mix, you just about spent with tax $7.32. Not a bad deal. The restaurant is spacious but fills up quickly resulting in some late lunch customers to dine on the outdoor patio. Nonetheless, Pita Inn is great no matter where you sit.

These guys have a parking lot that only a masochist can love. Thankfully the food makes up for that engineering disaster. If I can make any suggestion to parking there it's to drive as far around as possible before taking your spot. Do not grab the first thing you see. Between people who must have learned to drive two days ago and the traffic flow you might regret any other decision. During the week most people are there for one reason and one reason only. The lunch special. For myself I prefer it sans the chicken and it only costs $3.95. It's always more than enough food. The pitas are typically delicious. Soft and warm - ready to be stuffed to the brim with rice, meat, hot sauce and whatever that white sauce is. I've recently discovered that their best sauce is actually the garlic one they poorly advertise for fifty extra cents. It's a worthy investment to any meal you have there. Too bad they way they promote it is basically an afterthought for most and no one remembers to get it with their meal. I've probably eaten here upwards of fifty times and still can't get enough. I want to put it all in my mouth all the time.

Prior to dating my boyfriend, I had an extremely limited palate due to my stubborn finickiness. Pita Inn was my first attempt at Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food, and I was hesitant. Upon walking in, you can tell the owners strive for an authentic Middle Eastern look and feel. I ordered the beef shish kabob with a rice pilaf. Wow! What an excellent meal. The rice was brilliant and full of flavor, the beef was succulent and seasoned deliciously and the pita was fresh and warm. Absolutely delicious! I cannot wait to head over there for the lunch special! The prices are reasonable outside of the lunch special. We ate for $18 with drinks. I knew there had to be a reason why this place is packed every day!

  • Phill C.

I was thinking about Pita Inn and decided to update my review, well add onto it. I've probably tried everything on the menu at least 3 times, some many many more times. Everything is seasoned and cooked so well, from stuffed grape leaves, to crispy falafel, all the different cuts of grilled meats, the best hummus ever, and made in-house pita bread. Don't forget the spicy red sauce and the tasty tahini sauce (I call it the white sauce). I could eat here every day and not get sick of the food.

I'm letting you in on a little secret: I hardly even think about that dude name Sultan these days. I know! But Pita Inn just keeps getting better and better... Today I tried the $4.95 lunch special. In case you haven't heard, you get a heaping plate filled with kefta and shish kabobs, a chicken tender, shawarma, AND falafel complete with salad, a ton of rice and their freshly-baked pita bread. The baba is tops and I adore the smoky, grilled flavor of the meats. Is there a freakin' Weber back there?! You will wait a bit at lunch, but can you blame the room full of people scrambling to get their cheap fix? No, they're smart, just like you and me! Really, this is my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant (and local chain) in all of Chicagoland. Probably the United States. A win-win-win for taste buds, stomach and wallet. Good thing I have a friend who's obsessed as I am. And judging by the way we both polished off our lunches today, we should both be in jeans four sizes larger by summer! Awesome. Two locations down, one to go. Who's coming?

    (5)
  • Christy L.

Head to Pita Inn for the lunch special! You can get a huge plate of tasty Mediterranean food for only $5! I crave this place, especially the two sauces (spicy and yogurt) that you can dump on top of your plate of rice, falafel, lamb, beef and chicken (chicken is optional for an extra $1). You will not find a better lunch deal anywhere!

    (5)
  • Neetha V.

This place does not need a review. Visit this place and you will see it!! Always crowded - the only reason is the TASTY FOOD! The BEST Falafal I ever had!!! Any day my first option for quick meal! This place is just WOW for the price! I wish I had a count for the number of visits I paid to this place ;) Worth every $$

  • Carla B.

Oh boy. I love Pita Inn's food and woke up with a craving for it last week. I made the trip out to this Glenview location for carry out and I will never be going back to this specific one. The cashiers have very condescending attitudes and when I picked up my carry out order the cashier asked me THREE times if I forgot to order any food. Um, no I know what I ordered and I didn't need to be their laughing joke. After being asked if I forgot food the two cashiers started laughing making me feel as if I'm being made fun of!!! really?! And I heard them start talking about me before I was even out the door. So rude. I got home and thought well maybe the food will be worth it and the falafel sandwich I ordered was smaller than my palm. The falafel was NOT fresh and just tasted gross. If I'm ever craving Pita Inn I will go to their Skokie location even though I am very turned off by this last experience.

    (1)
  • Aileen O.

Out of all the Pita Inn locations, this is my favorite one. I live close to the one in Skokie, but sometimes the one in Skokie overfries the falafels = ick! That said, the business lunch specials are great! I wish they could add a paleo/gluten free version without the rice/pita and substitute with some of the veggie items. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers with such a great deal, but I haven't gone in a while since they aren't as substitution friendly as other places.

The fact that this place has an average of 4.5 stars with this many reviews shows just how mediocre Arabic restaurants in Chicagoland must be! This place has an excuse to be mediocre - perhaps it's the lack of Arabic boaters in the immediate area, or the general lack of authentic Arabic cuisine. You see I'm from the Detroit suburbs - home of the largest population of Middle Easterners outside of the Middle East. We know Arabic food. One word - Dearborn. This exact spot wouldn't last a month back where I'm from. While I was born and raised as a child in Chicago, I have been in metro Detroit for the past 15 years or so, but have much family in Chicago and frequent the area often. I've also ate at this Pita Inn a couple times with some cousins as well. This place has a ton of Middle-Eastern inspired platters that come with a meat component, hummous, rice, etc. and some nice sauces and yogurts on the side. I ordered an open faced chicken shawarma platter, expecting to at least get the standards I get at the basic Arabic spots back in the "D." Nope. I got dry, seasoned chicken that tasted like American chicken with a few stereotypical Arabic spices drizzled on it. The hummous was grainy and tasted like from the can - not smooth, creamy, and heavenly delish like it should. The rice tasted like rice pilaf - there is a difference between authentic Arabic rice and rice pilaf people. Rice pilaf goes with American seafood! Another gripe is that the folks behind the counter and behind the scenes during the ordering process were very rude and operated is if it were a hot dog stand in the city - just yelling, hurrying customers, not answering questions, etc. This is not reflective of the festive spirit of joy and kindness real Arabic restaurants have. Overall, this is an Arabic-wannabe that is really just Mediterranean & Middle-East inspired American cuisine in my eyes that caters to a crowd that just doesn't know the difference. If you've never had much of any Mid-East food, you would probably find the tastes and prices here pleasing. It's not bad at all, really. But again, it's far from being a real Middle-Eastern restaurant. There's definitely gotta be some spots in in Chicagoland, in areas like Bridgeview perhaps, where there are more Arabic boaters that influence the authenticity and quality of the cuisine. Note to readers, be sure to try an Arabic restaurant in Dearborn, MI, if you are ever passing through or by metro-Detroit. I would recommend heading that way for real Arabic - or heading this way for a quick, cheap lunch catered to the busy North Shore suburbanite.

I was shocked to see that I have never written a review of the place, as I have eaten here (this location) about 20+ times over the years. Combining total visits over the 3 locations, probably over 100 since the mid 80's (mostly Skokie). I would guess about 50% of their business comes from the M-F "business lunch special". Great deal for $5, but good luck getting a seat and a parking space around noon. The shish kabob can be a bit tough to chew, but get a combo platter and you get a bit of everything. This past weekend we ordered catering for the first time and our party of 20 had plenty of food to eat. My only recommendation is to skip the Jerusalem salad, as orders come with a house salad; which is almost the same the thing. Go with the Baba and the Hummus. Not the best Middle Eastern option in Chicago, but Pita Inn is a great option for a quick meal.

You'll be in heaven. Whether it's lunch or dinner The Pita Inn is a knock-out. The prices are excellent, most expensive thing on the menu is $8;95 and the business man lunch is $4;95. That and a glass of mint tea for lunch, WOW!!!! The reason it only gets 5 stars is because it doesn't go any higher. All I have to say is homemade gyros and falafel. Someday I hope to go to the Middle East and eat what could my new favorite cusine. Well if the Middle East is still there, until then, The Pite Inn is my go too.

Very delicious food. Great staff, clean facility, and for a fast-food kinda place, kinda pretty inside. The felafel is delicious, the shawarma is delicious, the pita, delicious! My husband can't get enough of the garlic sauce. Not enough seating, though, for such a popular place.

  • Merrie W.

What's there NOT to say? Great food and quality for the price. There's a reason why it's always packed, people!!!! Service is mostly self-serve, the girls at the cashier can be a bit snooty, but the food is GREAT. In good weather u can sit outside and eat, and make all the passerbies jealous! I usually get their falafel, or kifta kabob sandwich, and of course, their dessert. When you carry out, your order is ready in 10 minutes or so.

By far, they have the BEST FALAFELS that I have ever tasted!!!!!!! I've been to many different middle eastern, Mediterranean restaurants all over Chicago and the suburbs and you just can't compare Pita Inn's falafels to anyone else's... oh and not to mention their red spicy sauce. I just want to take a jar of their spicy sauce home with me!!!! For the entree, I normally get their vegetarian combo which includes: falafel, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, baba ghannoug, Jerusalem salad and tabouleh salad, served with our homemade pita bread. Great priced business lunch special during the weekdays between 11am - 3pm! FYI, they can get crazy busy at times, especially the peak meal times but it's well worth the wait... cuz it's so de-lish! I'm so glad that the north suburbs have Pita Inn....wish they had more locations, like in the city....

This is an awesome restaurant. Fresh, tasty ingredients at a low price. I keep coming back. Tip: the vegetarian combo rocks because their Babaganoush is without parallel.

I haven't been here in seven years, so when I came back to Chicagoland, it was on my list, and I can tell you it is as good as ever. I can't recommend more!

This is hands down THE BEST Pita Inn. Don't even bother with the Skokie one as they forget stuff all the time and their staff can be outright rude. As well, the food at the Wheeling location never quite lives up tot he freshness of this location. The Niles/Glenview Pita Inn is the TRUTH :) My Favorites: Shish Kabob Sandwhich Hummus Mango Drink (ITS A MUST!!!) Oh ya, just in case you've been living under a rock, their $5 lunch special is a ridiculous value and you'd be a fool to not treat yourself to it at least once in your adult life.

  • Christine S.

This is my go-to for lunch (even on weekends)... I love the food. F'n FAB!!!! The prices are low, the food is WONDERFUL and healthy... The place is always slammed though so be prepared for about a 10 minute wait (soooooo worth it though). This review is for all 3 locations and I frequent all of them equally...

  • Kent B.

I've been to the Skokie location many times, but this was my first visit to Pita Inn in Glenview. This location is superior to the Skokie location in many ways--more parking, larger ordering area, self-service soft-drinks and larger and brighter dining area with huge windows. Lunch service was quick. I ordered the usual business special and it was delicious--as it is at the Skokie location.

this place is my addiction. Nothing comes close. I really wish they would take over the world. FYI, they switched to pepsi products. Parking is always fun during the lunch rush.

Solid 4 stars. Pita Inn is comfort food that is always consistent, I've probably been here about 1000 times! Love the falafels, especially when they are fresh. Their Hot sauce is out of this world ... super HOT just like I love it. Their chicken breast pita sandwich is fantastic, better than the shawarma chicken and cheaper too. The shawarma chicken was a little dry. Their hummus is also fantastic as well. Price alone I would give this place 5 stars for cost of food/quality/quantity, but some things were a little off. I ordered their hot mint tea, which was fantastic, but they give it to you in a tiny little cup (1/3 cup measuring wise), yes it's free refills, but my fiance went up about 10 times to refill it. The ambiance could be a little better. I realize that it's a fast food Mediterranean restaurant, but it could be a little more cozy when you eat. Although they probably do this so that you leave right away since this place is always packed. Will be back when I am in the area again :)

  • Ryan P.

The bar is set here, and with their business lunch special, I really can't see anyone ever one upping this place. Its just that good. I wish that they'd bottle the white sauce or serve it from the soda fountain. Parking can be tight, so if you come on lunch, try to carpool.

Dude: you can't Not like the Pita Inn. Been going to all three locations for years. Love nothing more than sitting, eating that heavenly chicken shwarma and hummus then sitting for while with a cup of their fabulous mint and black tea and a slice of baklava. (And dude, I can't get enough of their hot sauce!!!!) I've NEVER had a meal here I didn't enjoy and we've even gotten food from their grocery/bakery for major celebrations....but i suppose the grocery is a separate review. Go. Eat. And tease the staff because they're very playful and fun.

This is my family's favorite Pita Inn location, and one of our favorite area restaurants, period. We're a family of six, so when we agree on something, it's a big deal. We've been known to make the 45-50 minute drive just for dinner because someone had a craving and talked the rest of us into piling into the car. It's clean, it's casual, and the menu offerings represent a great value for the money. This particular location offers a more comfortable, spacious dining experience and you can get your own drink refills (which you'll need if you're using the hot sauce). It's usually crowded even outside of peak meal hours, but you can usually find a table without too much trouble; the downside is that the noise level can be pretty loud when the restaurant is full. The wait for food (you order at the counter and then wait for your number to be called) can be anywhere from 10 - 25 minutes, depending on the crowd. The hummus is smooth, tasty, and served with a side of fresh, warm pitas -- order a large! My favorite menu items are the shish kabob and chicken swarma, which you can order as a sandwich (pita) or as an entree served with rice and salad. There are sides of tahini and hot sauce available at the counter where you pick up you meal, so be sure to grab them. My only complaint about Pita Inn is that there are none close to us. So sad!

One of the best middle eastern restaurants in Chicagoland. They have been in business for years with several locations open in the suburbs. This is a fast food restaurant with the quality of a mid-level sit down dining experience. They have everything from shish kabob, chicken, shawarma, falafel, rice pilaf, and Hummus. They even have excellent Baba Gannoug. All of this at very low prices. They have a lunch special during the week for $4.95. They are so busy everyday that you have to come at certain times to avoid the rush. It can take up to 10 minutes to get your food. When you arrive at off-peak times the food is cooked fresh. When they are busy they are working so hard, that they have cooked so much food, and you may get a slightly colder entree. Not complaining..just a tip. I would highly recommend Pita Inn next time you are in the Chicagoland area.

Pita Inn has always been a great bang for the buck. I really like their Sish-Kabob plate and the baba ganoush is the best I ever had. The red hot sauce is my favorite. I have been to a lot of other Medeteranian fast food places and I must say, to this day Pita Inn remains my favorite.

Pita Inn... think Middle Eastern fast food with a flair for ambience! Great restaaurant with consistently awesome food. Try the Kifta plate with a couple falafels , add some "ghannoush" to dunk and just go ahead and shut the FRONT DOOR! they are off the hook. In all seriousness, great food, clean place, reasonably priced. Cmon now, DO IT!

PITA INN. The name alone makes me hungry. This place is as good as it gets for quick, fast & delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Sure most of their locations are in quiet Suburban spots, but take one step in a Pita Inn location and you immediately feel like you're in an overcrowded foreign city. The folks behind the counter are working hard, and food is coming out SUPER fast. Make no mistake here. You are not trading promptness for taste. The food is delicious. I haven't had a thing here I didn't like, and that includes falafels (99% of falafels I eat are dry). The baba, hummus and beeef shawarma are my favorites. Bottom line, Pita Inn is EPIC!

Delight your taste buds with some delectable and inexpensive Mediterranean food from the hummus and falafel to seafood salads and kebabs, these Pita Inn restaurants all offer fresh delectable dishes. This restaurant is a fairly good size compared to their other locations. The lunch specials are a must, during the week, but if you go the day before a Holiday, you will not get the lunch special prices. Everything here is worth four stars, from the chicken to the hummus to the stuffed grape leaves to the beef and rice to the salads and kababs. The Pita bread is ethereal, and always consistently fresh. This is also a very good choice for vegans and/or vegetarians. Place your order, pay, you'll be given a number. Listen for your number to be called over a P.A. Go grab your own silverware and soft drink, find a table. This place gets fairly busy at lunch time and on Friday evenings for dinner. Once you hear your number go back to the front (pick-up area to the left of the register) and pick up your food. This is considered "fast food" and doesn't compare to a formal sit-down Mediterranean restaurant, but for what it is, it is definitely worth trying. Their prices are very reasonable, and portions are generous.

  • Anna S.

I love this place! They have the best hummus I've ever tasted. I've tried other hummus (fresh & store bought) and nothing compares. Service is quick, place is constantly being cleaned and the prices are very reasonable. I always take food home since the portions are plentiful. If I lived closer, I'd be there every week. Pita Inn, please open a store in the Western suburbs!

(This review is based on Pita Inn in general). I love Mediterranean food and Pita Inn, though a fast food restaurant is truly authentic, delicious, and cheap (Mediterranean food is usually expensive). Best Hummus I have ever tasted, and I eat Hummus several times a week. The tabbouleh is also very good, just a little heavy on the parsley (i also eat tabbouleh fairly often). Love the schwarma (both the beef and the chicken), falafal, kofta, rice, lentil soup (by now you could probably tell that I am absolutely IN LOVE with Mediterranean food), fresh baked pita, and tahini sauce. Did I mention cheap. Huge portions also.

OK, so yes, their food is very good. SO why am I giving them 3 stars? Because recently, they have become very, very stingy with sauce and pita for to-go orders. I'm talking retardedly cheap. So we always order the falafal plates to go (eating in, there's never a problem getting more sauce or pita). So for one plate, which includes 6 falafal pieces, they will give you only 3 halves of pita bread, and 1 - 2 sauces, depending on who packs your meal. One time I ordered 2 plates, and rec'd 4 sauces each of tahini and hot. Another time I ordered 3 plates, and I rec'd the same # of sauces. When you ask for extra sauce packs, they act as if you're robbing them. Further, they don't even fill up the sauce packs all the way (see attached picture). yes, again, their food is very very high quality. However, the fact that its not becoming impossible to enjoy a to-go meal because of how stingy and cheap they are becoming with items as small as sauce and pita, I pass on them when it comes to finding a carry-out place. PITA INN- if you're listening -- stop being so dumb with sauce!! We love it, we don't stock up on it at home, we just like a lot of it on our food.

I like that this place is affordable. It's quick, fast, and an easy fix to your Mediterranean food craving. I like their chicken dishes here. More specifically, their shwarma dish is so tasty. It's not too salty or oily. Thank goodness! They always cut it right when you order it, so it's fresh every time. They also give you complimentary pitas with tzatziki. Score! Oh, and be prepared to have leftovers. The serving sizes here are huge.

Delicious, cheap and not to be missed! Pita Inn delivers the best bang for your buck when it comes to Middle Eastern fare- hummus, falafel, shawarma, kabobs, kifta and fresh salads. I always tend to order a large hummus along with the combo feast. It's a LOT of food, but for $8.95 (for dinner) that's not bad at all. I suggest the freshly brewed iced tea with mint. It's quite refreshing! They even have a cute little patio section to take your freshly prepared grub. Pita Inn will not disappoint!

My favorite restaurant by far these days is my best friend Pita Inn. :) Look at all the awards they've won and you'll understand the hype. You gotta go get yourself some of this to FULLY appreciate what I mean! For $6.55 you can get a yummy yummy chicken shawarma on fatoush salad topped with pita croutons. I love their all you can eat hot sauce and the tahini yogurt sauce...as you can tell. For just a little over $2, you can get a tasty house-made hummus with warm pita! Overall - 4.5/5 Taste - 5 (Authentic, flavorful, and all-you-can eat hot sauce & tahini yogurt sauce. I'm in heaven!) Originality -3 (Standard Mediterranean food. No surprises here) Plating - 3 (Nothing special, but not bad for a "quick-joint") Value - 5 (You can't get much better than this) Service - 5 (For a fast-food-like joint, Pita Inn has fast and polite service every time!)

I can't stop raving about Pita Inn. I used to frequent the Skokie location, now that I changed jobs the Glenview location is close...errr kinda. You see I work in Rosemont, yet I make the hike for lunch when the 'Pita Inn' mood strikes me. I have tried almost everything on the menu. For lunch I usually get the Business lunch special. It can't be beat. The portions are generous and filling. You get Chicken, beef seesh kabob, a grilled meat kabob which is tops, with rice and salad. I absolutely love the Harissa and sesame sauce. Not many people know, but they have pickles which include Olives, beets, radishes and onions. You have to ask the guy who fills the sauces, he will hand you a plate of the above mentioned delicious pickles. The Babaganoug is excellent, it goes so well with the Pita bread and suprisingly with the rice.Mix it up with some of the harrisa sauce and rice, chase it with a kabob...and you are in heaven!! I tried the Baklava once, and was very disappointed...I am not going to hold it against them, I am always a 'Happy' full when I leave.

I was pleased to find a new location in my hood. The food from this establishment is top notch. The food here is made to order, so always hot and fresh. I always order the managers special and an order of hummus. Manager's special $4.95, but if you do not want the chicken it's $3.95. This special only from 11am to 2pm. The lunch crowd finds a bunch of 9 to 5, business casual workers out for the same deal. Ample seating and parking, order food first and wait for your number to be called. Even if I eat in I order to-go 'cuz I always find myself taking home left-overs. Hot sauce comes upon request. I brought my brother here and was unable to decipher the names of all the items listed. Grab a menu and wait in line. They also take plastic.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? This place has great affordable food, and the people who work here are great. Go here, get food, have leftovers, be amazed at the price. Sometimes getting in and out of the parking lot makes me feel like I'm in Tel Aviv, but its worth it.

  • T C.

Food was great. The people cooking the food were very friendly. But if you want help while ordering please help yourself. The staff taking the order, most likely the owners children, were not friendly at all. Asked a question and got an unfriendly answer. Also given a blank are you stupid look. Hey if you hate your job....leave. There are plenty of others that need a job. To sum it up, Pita Inn is really good. Cheap and healthy! Just don't go there with questions. You better know your order!

I do like Pita Inn. It's a pile of food, mostly grilled meats and a falafel or two on rice with a side salad, for not a lot of money, and you leave there feeling ridiculously full if you're so hungry you down the entire thing in one sitting. My beef (har har) with the place is that the food is somewhat mediocre, either too dry or too well-done, or just not well-seasoned. It's just OK. I do like this location because unlike the other one near the former Poochie's Plaza, you can actually usually find parking and it's easy to get in and out of. Same food as in Skokie, but, much easier experience, I think.

Like most of my acquaintances, I have extremely high esteem for Pita Inn. You get cheap, clean, delicious Middle Eastern food. End of story. It's the best combination of taste and value ANYWHERE. See my other review for details. You cannot beat the $4.95 lunch special. Throw in a small hummus or baba ghannouj, and you will not need to eat again that day. My office used to be two miles from the Skokie location. Then we moved to Glenview; too bad we didn't move closer to this location. It's a 15-minute, 6.5-mile drive but I still come for lunch about once per month. There's often a long line, but they have a large enough seating area that the customer churn usually yields a wait of less than five minutes for a table. You will wait at least that long for your food. Also, now that it's warm weather, you can opt for the handful of outdoor tables.

I grew up in Skokie near the original Pita Inn. This location opened up a couple years after I moved to Morton Grove, which I was excited about. This place is bigger and parking is definitely easier. Throughout the years I've tried pretty much everything on the menu and I like most the dishes. My faves are the chicken fatoush salad (which has chicken shwarma) and the shish kabab platter. I like the kefta kabobs too- they are nicely spiced. I take that white sauce and drench the meat and pilaf in the sauce, yum! Their hummos and their lentil soup are pretty good too. You definitely get a lot for your money here. It's a nicer fast food place. A definite recommend if you are in the neighborhood.

Fast, Delicious and large portions this is one of the best Pita restaurants I have ever been too. I got the combo plate and could not even finish it that's now much stuff it had. The mint tea was pretty amazing though. Next time I'm"m trying out their desserts. Did I tell you it was cheap? yeah.

I love this place. I have been to their other location on Dempster which is always so crowded, no parking (or park & get hit in those tiny spaces.) I like the Glenview location, they give bigger portions, and there is more consistency in how the meat is cooked (not rare, always medium-well). I have to say I'm a fan of the $4.95 lunch special. Where can you get that much great food under $5, heck McD is more than that now. I'm a bit surprised at the references to Middle Eastern taco bell, cause I couldn't disagree more. It's not "rice-a-roni" its rice with saffron spice, which is one of the top 5 spices to ward off heart problems. Geez people, know what you eat before you rip on it. My only gripe is that the guys that handle the pita from the oven, do so with their bare hands. Then I see them handling buckets and carrying stuff, not sure how sanitary that is. I go here for great food, at a great price...and dont worry about undercooked meat, like I would in any 'mom-n-pop" middle eastern restaurant. Is the decor gorgeous? No, its a sit down eat & split type of place. What ticks me off about the Glenview location is the yuppies that stroll down Milwaukee from Allstate & Aon and think that since they came into a cheaper food place that they are kings and should be served. I feel bad for the servers & bus boys that have to deal with those arrogant smartasses.

Great bargain dining. Simple food, no frills and freshly grilled. A good place to check out when you're hungry. However, I'd be willing to downsize the portion a little bit in exchange for better quality ingredients. But overall, good stuff. How this places makes any money is beyond me.

i agree with the reference to pita inn being the mcdonalds of middle eastern food. it's fast, cheap, but has mediocre food. they do have nice portions at a good price, so there's certainly value for your dollar. i had the business lunch special ($4.95) --- combo of shish kabob, kifta kabob, shawarma, chicken tender and falafel served with rice, salad and homemade pita bread. make sure to get a free side of their hot sauce for dipping; i wasn't a fan of their tahini. the food was just okay... the rice was bland and kabobs were overcooked, but the seasoning was pretty good on the meats and the pita was light and fluffy. overall, it's a nice place for cheap eats and is a solid contender against the $5 foot longs ;)

  • Andy M.

The Pita in is an inexpensive way to get your fix of good Middle Eastern Food. The place is a no frills dining experience. You order your food at the front counter, they give you a number and you pick up your food. They give you a plate, a big Red Tray and send you off to your table. The set up reminds me of my old high school Cafeteria. The food is pretty damn tasty. I ordered the Beef Kabab. The Beef chunks are served with a tasty Dill rice. They also offer you two different sauces. The lighter dill sauce went quite well with the beef. There was also a darker sauce that had more of a spicy kick to it. All things considered, it was a hearty meal for the price. The bottom line on the Pita Inn is this: If you are looking for a good meal filled with great food at a price that won't dent your wallet, head on down to the Pita Inn. You will walk out with a full belly and a some extra dead Presidents in your pocket.

Its been about 4 years since our last time at Pita Inn because of the last experience. I remember going there when they opened in Skokie and then many years to follow, the owner was involved and cared about the customers and his food. until 4 years ago when we stopped by for lunch with a group of 4. That lunch confirmed that these people are now strickly in it to feed the masses at a low price. So we thought lets try it again, so yesterday we went back. Two of us ordered the businessmans lunch and Two ordered the kifta kabob plates. To be polite the food lacks taste and freshness, the steak on the businessmans plate is not worth giving to my dog as it was extremely tough. The hummos & tabouli both lacked flavor. I just hope that the owners can read this and go back to the way it was prior to them becoming weathly off there customers.

What can I say? I love this place. It's a lot of food for a good price. Now, I don't have a lot of experience with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. Everyone I know who has gone to this place, though, loves the food (or maybe got tired of it and wanted something else). My absolute favorite is the falafel. They're small, but crunchy on the outside and just so delicious. My favorite dish is the chicken shwarma, which is basically shredded chicken over rice. Their beef dishes are also very good, and the vegetarian choices look interesting. Their hummus is very smooth and a little grainy, like microscopic bits of chickpeas in your mouth adding a bit of texture. A few friends and I went for a bit of a late dinner and paid under $30 for four people. Two of the dishes we ordered were sandwiches, but I also ordered some extra falafel on the side. It's very filling and I always enjoy eating the food. I especially love the free dishes of yogurt (not like the gelatinous yogurt you'd find in Jewel--liquid like and has a very distinct taste) and hot sauce they provide with your meal.

One of my favorites for the hummus and chicken shawerma sandwich. The falafel gourmet sandwich is also to die for. Meat isn't the best but everything else is respectable given the price.

I woke up with a craving for Mediterranean food, and I'm new to this area so the good ole yelp iphone app helped me navigate my way there! I had no clue as to what it was I wanted, except for falafel, but I wanted more than that because let's face it- I didnt want to be hungry again in one hour! Pita inn is a quick serve order at the counter restaurant, and when I approached I saw they had a lunch special for 4.95. I went for it! The staff was very friendly and helped me with what to do next, and I appreciated that because there is nothing worse than being in a situation where you don't know what's going on, and not being provided direction from the staff. My lunch consisted of an iceberg salad with a watery dressing that I really could have done with out! Very disappointing start to the meal, but the rest was fantastic! There was chicken, steak, lamb, and falafel on my plate with rice pilaf. It was all very good, the falafel was amazing! After I finished my meal I actually went up and ordered a falafel sandwich to go! I know I'm a pig, but who cares I embrace my flaws and enjoy them okay! I ordered a mango drink that I could have done without, it was just way to sugary for my taste and came off tasting more like kool-aid. I saw they had an unsweetened mint iced tea and that was great! All in all a great experience, and I will be back! #that's all folks!

Good quality, great value pricing, friendly service. You know this place is good because it is always has a steady flow of people. The good part is their service is so quick that you never have to wait long to order and they have enough seating that there will always be a table. I always get the combo plate with chicken(good value at under $9 for two meals worth of food) when I come here then vary up the appetizers. The combo plate for a weekday lunch is a couple dollars cheaper and an awesome value at less than $6. Just thinking about their hummus and grilled meats is making my mouth water! I usually do takeout and the wait is not longer than 10-15 minutes. If you want even quicker service, call in your order when 15 minutes away.

OMFG. I'm writing this review on a belly full of pita inn. I swear it must release endorphins or something. I realize I don't need to even review this place, as it is rightfully at 4.5 stars w/ over 100 reviews, but I must concur! And I don't eat a whole lot of mediteranean cuisine, so I'm no expert on the matter, but bottom line is this food is GOOOOD. Everything is grilled-to-order, fresh, and dare i say healthy! The business lunch special is unreal - 4.95 for a platter or meat, rice, and pita. yummmmm. And don't even get me started on the sauces...(ok ok ok, there's creamy yogurt and a spicy tomatoey sauce-i could drink both) Don't be a fool, eat at pita inn!

I heart Pita Inn. The food is always fresh and delicious. My favorite is the vegetarian combo. Their homemade mint tea is awesome too. My boyfriend loves the hummus and shwarma. There are tables outside, perfect for eating out in the warm weather.

Combination Feast ($3.95 at lunch time) is a plate piled with rice and meat. It is a mountain of kabob, shawarma, and kifta plus one falafel and lettuce and tomato with tahini. So very delicious and cheap. You can add chicken to the plate of meat for $1. The baba ghannoug and hummus are divine and the pita bread has the perfect chewiness and is served warm. I sometimes crave the Jerusalem salad and lentil soup uncontrollably. The bakalva is not to be missed. Pita Inn is totally worth the drive from the city and I make that drive about once a week!

Pita Inn- the middle eastern staple in the neighborhood. Cafeteria style seating. Cheap but good food. What's not to like?

  • Insun M.

I did my order to go so I'm hoping that is the reason for the subpar food. Hummus is pretty amazing with a perfect smooth consistency. The pita bread that it came with was actually pretty bad. It was kind of hard and had that "few days old" kind of taste to it even though they bake it fresh everyday? Business lunch is 4.95 for a reason. Mediocre seasoned meats but the falafal was the best thing on the plate. Chicken schwarma sandwich was pretty good but once again it was in that hard pita. I'll be back next to to dine in and hope for an improvement in taste.

I just flat out freakin' LOVE the Pita Inn's food. All of it. When I go there, which is fairly often, and have to drive 30 miles one way to get there, I order enough for 3 people just for myself. Half is gone by the time I get home. I get multiple mint teas, too, because I can't make it at home like they do. Drooling just typing this. Wish there was a Pita Inn in my neighborhood, I'd single-handedly keep them in business. I recommend everything on their menu except the pastry with the pink stuff on top; it is pasty and tasteless. But everything else there truly rocks.

Some people may describe this restaurant as Mediterranean in nature, because it is a more generic term that most people understand. The Pita Inn is a melting pot of exotic spices influenced perhaps from the Middle East, Persia, Iran, Israel and Syrian cuisines. For fresh, delectable and fab-u-liciosly prepared food -- the Pita Inn is a flavorful fast food experience with a mecca for a melting pot of incredible, explosive flavors. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable (lunch is only $5)! The key word here is fresh. For starters, I recommend the stuffed grape leaves, taboulesh salad, hummus or their kibbeh. Stay away from the baba ghannoug which lacks much flavor. The hummus is made from scratch, daily, using fresh chick peas, tahini, salt and lemon juice. The hummus is creamy, smooth and very delectable. RECOMMENDATIONS: Chicken schwarma -- the marriage between the tahini, salt and lemon juice seasoned with turmeric, cumin, saffron, chicken consommé and all-spice adds to the flavorful and well-balanced taste. I also recommend the beef schwarma which is just as fabulous. The Pita Inn is a great place for die-hard vegetarians because there is also plenty of flavorful, delectable choices. For example, try their lentil soup, falafel sandwich or the gourmet falafel sandwich. Their salads are very satisfying also. The falafel is wholesome with a fluffy interior. The Pita Inn restaurant has several locations in Skokie, Wheeling, Schaumburg, Palatine and Glenview, IL. Their largest location, however, is on Milwaukee Avenue. It is a no-frills, open space, very casual, diner style with large windows. When crowded, the noise level can be loud. This is a self-service restaurant (order your food, grab your soft drink, silverware, straw, sit down and LISTEN for your number to be called over the P.A. -- or wait at the front area). It is like a mini-United Nations as you look around the restaurant. A Little History: The most prevalent flavorings are turmeric, dried lime powder (or fresh lime) and onions. Persian cuisine also uses various fruits, leafy greens and fresh herbs to add color and flavor. Schwarma, or shaved marinated meat on a spit, is like the hamburger of the Middle East. It's also called gyro in Greece, and doner kebab in Turkey. Some may prepare schwarma with turkey, lamb and chicken seasoned with turmeric, cumin, saffron, chicken consommé and all-spice. Other commonly used spices, particularly in Israel, are cilantro, parsley, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper. In Turkey, one of the most popular is marash, or Turkish red pepper flakes, prized among foodies around the globe for its gentle heat and fruity, aromatic flavors.

You get your moneys worth here, especially the daily lunch special. The food is amazing too!!! Also the service is fast & friendly. The lunch deal comes with a few types of meat, rice, lettuce, pita, and some other stuff. all of it is GREAT together. Their hummus is also quite addictive!!

Pita Inn was a great surprise! The quick service mediterranean restaurant has great food, a great selection, and great prices. You walk in, place your order, and wait for your number to be called. You then seat yourself in their large yet dated dining area. On this occasion, my wife and I chose the combo plate, chicken shwarma sandwich, and a large hummus. The result was a delicious array of perfectly cooked meats accompanied by excellent hummus, pita, and rice. The combo plate was a great value, but it is an even greater value M-F as a lunch special. However, we both left stuffed for about $17. I would definitely return to Pita Inn!

Pita Inn beats down Pita House, hands down. I love the food and it provides such a great change from the traditional fast food. I love the prices as well. I wound up paying for an entree on my first visit since I didn't think I would get enough, but they proved me wrong. I will probably get the smaller portion next time.

I've been going to this place (starting off in Skokie) for about 20 years and it's always great! The good falafel and great beef kabobs. The best baba ghanoush! Great value - The lunch special is the best deal around. The food is consistent and the service fast and friendly at both the Glenview and Skokie locations.

Hawt damb, I LOVE this place! Like people mentioned before, it's cheap top notch (relative to other places) food made fast. Get their business special if you go during lunch time. Definitely worth stopping in.

A much better alternative for fast food. The Glenview location is the biggest and cleanest. All the sandwiches are excellent. I love the way the chicken is seasoned and served on the softest and freshest Pita you will ever have. When my wife was pregnant, I had to run here a few times for cravings. Definitely one of the best Mediterranean places in Chicago, especially for the value.

I ordered 2 of their business specials, overall it's nice because you get a vaiety of meats with the dish, such as lamb, beef and chicken, a falafel ball, all this over a bed of delicious yellow rice with a small portion of shredded lettuce and a couple of slices of tomato. All for only 4.95. No drink included. I love their tahini sauce. On this visit every thing was tasty as usual, the chicken was perfectly tender, the lamb tasty, the beef was a bit chewy, thgough this was my first time at this location, I usually go to the one on dempster, word of caution the both get packed during the lunch hour. This pita inn on milwaukee offers more seating and a bit more parking. The one thing that left me a bit unpleased was the girl at the cashier, she did not offer me a drink, and never thanked me for my business when she returned my change. This happens to me all the time at the other Pita Inn on dempster. Maybe their clueless to the fact that thanking a customer is a standard in all business. To me service is half the experience. Overall, if you are on a budget and would like good mediterranean food go there, the food is good. Good luck!

The food at Pita Inn is extremely fresh and delicious. The price simply can't be beat for what you get. I would definitely suggest the Kifta Kabobs and the Beef Shawarma. It can get fairly busy during lunch and dinner, but still remains less crowded than their Dempster location. You can enjoy a wonderful meal here with a drink for under $10. If you do happen to visit their Dempster location, they have a bakery next door where you can purchase freshly baked Pitas and great Hummus.

My husband, daughter and I stopped in for a quick lunch. We've enjoyed the food many times in the past, althought it's not our favorite mid-estern restaurant, it's not too bad and their falafel's are delicious. This particular visit was disturbing, however. I was cooling an order of rice down for my 3 yo when I noticed it had a peculiar odor. It smelled sour. I had my husband smell it and he agreed that it smelled spoiled. He tasted a few grains and said it was a bit slimy. Naturally we took the the rice up and told the worker. He got the manager and the manager could have cared less. I guess they feel thy're so busy they can afford to be rude. We were given another plate of rice which smelled the same way. Mu husband was disgusted and we ended up getting a take out conatiner for the meat on my husband's plate. We figured our dog could have it but when we got home the sour smell was in the meat too so we just tossed it. IHow disappointing. I will not be back at least not to that location.

This is the best Pita Inn location ever! The decor is beautiful and in the summer you can sit outdoors by the fountain. You can't beat the prices here and the great selection of middle eastern foods. For $5 you get the the lunch special with all sorts of yummy meats and falafel, rice pilaf, and a salad. Pita bread is always fresh and soft. I always get the Chicken Shawerma plate or Shish Kabob plate. The shish kabob is always so tender, flavorful, and juicy. The owner is so sweet and since me and my friend stop by so often he knows are names and always makes sure we have extra food and our food is always hot and ready. Although the lines always seem long, don't let it scare you, it always moves so fast. Oh and I adore the white sauce, I drown my food in it. i have had everything on the menu no joke and you can' t go wrong. Did I mention it's healthier than a lot of other places because they grill everything here! Also it has great hours open till 11pm and 12 am on weekends. Man I could go for some right now....

So after reading about this place here on Yelp, of course, we decided to try it out after our visit to Abt and we were both SO happy we did! This place is amazing! I was a little scared when I saw how busy it was because I was hungry and I thought we wouldn't get a seat, which we wouldn't have had it not been for the picnic tables outside. But I liked sitting outside, even though it was a tad dark because the lighting was a bit dim considering it was about 9 PM!! Yes...9 PM, and this place was PACKED!! We both ordered the comb plated and a small side of baba ghannouj. Everything we had was excellent, especially the falafel and baba ghannouj, the baba ghannouj was seriously the best we have ever had!! DELICIOUS!! We also ordered a piece of baklava, which is outstanding! Can't wait to go back! If you love Mediterranean food, you HAVE to try this place...you really won't want to go back anywhere else! =]]

Don't know what to say that hasn't already been said already. The food is great and affordable for nice big portions (even cheaper during their lunch special). It's great for both take out and dining in.

I love going here. It is pretty much the best deal in town, and we have never been disappointed by our orders. Even though they are always crowded, I have never not been able to find a seat. They are also very quick about clearing tables. Sometimes the girls taking orders seem a little unhappy and hurried, sometimes that bothers me when I want to ask a question, but seriously, there are always like 20 people behind me, so they are working hard to keep those lines moving. They always get the orders correct and they come out pretty quickly (depending on the crowds). I like the falafel, chicken shwarma and baklava.

this place gets 10 stars. why? because the food is amazing! especially their business special! from 11 am- 3pm! Why spend $5 on junk fast food when you can just go to Pita Inn!

Yes, there are too many kids running around and I wish the owners would say something. It is difficult for a White, Anglo Saxon American speaking to address some of the customers. Now with that said, I love the place. I love seeing all the people in various head coverings, various multi cultures...you see Indians, Americans, Muslims, Lebanese, Jordanians, everyone all sitting close together and smiling and enjoying. I usually go to the Dempster St. place...yes it is crowded and the crowds move fat...but it is the best. There is a grocery stall in the mall, about 3 stores down to the West. They are the bakers of the pita and they have a wonderful store. As Skokie is a liberal area with lots of Jews and Israelis, they often frequent the store for middle eastern food. It's a good thing.

You get your money's worth at Pita Inn and will enjoy eating what you get. My SO and I grabbed lunch on a Saturday. She had the falafel sandwich and I tried the vegetarian sampler. For what you pay, you just can't beat 'em. Sadly, the dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) were the of the canned variety- they were not made on-site, which by my experience has been the tastier way to go. In any case, VERY reasonable prices, adequate portions, clean environs. I'll go back. Three stars b/c I'm a big fan of good dolmades. Otherwise a solid four.

Consistent good Middle Eastern food, inexpensive and efficient at getting you what you order in record time. So in a nutshell, this is the perfect place for a quick lunch out of the office. My personal favorites: falafel which you can order by the unit if you don't want a plate or combination, the Kefta Kebab, the hummus and baba ganoush. Weekdays you will also find a lunch special for $4.95. You really can't beat that for the quality and quantity of food you are getting.

I don't know how you can't love pita inn. They're pita is awesome, as well as the hummus and falafal. I always get the falafel sandwich, tabbouleh and hummus. Everything is fresh and cooked perfectly. And you honestly can't beat the prices. They have lunch specials for like $5. I love the quick service, the staff is on top of it. And even with how busy it gets my order is never wrong. The only downside is the parking (which is ridiculous at lunch time) they're parking lot is small and always packed.

You can never go wrong with Pita Inn. I've tried 2 locations so far (the one on Oakton and another one on Milwaukee) and both locations fail to disappoint. I went there yesterday and for the first time was able to catch the lunch special (Mon-Fri 11-3pm) and my boyfriend ordered the combo platter (only $4.95, or $3.95 without chicken) and I ordered the Gourmet Sandwich (regular priced $4.39). Both unbelievably great!! My Gourmet sandwich was so delicious filled with falafel and potatoes, pair that with their mint iced tea, can't go wrong with that! We also ordered a large hummus and that never fails to disappoint either, sprinkled with olive oil and paprika, yum! And its only $3! (you do need to order extra pita but thats only like $0.95) Everything is so reasonably priced, you'd be surprised at the quality of the food. Bravo Pita Inn!

  • Sid P.

Impressive. This places manages to serve mostly above average Mediterranean food at prices that are reasonable. I mean, c'mon, we know that crushing and finely chopping fresh vegetables takes effort, but paying $9 at some neo-fancy Mediterranean place in some trendy neighborhood in Chicago for some hummus or baba ganoush is ridiculous... and so that's not what Pita Inn is all about. They have a good balance between efficiency and tastiness. It's all fresh, it's all real (ok, "shwarma" is shwarma anywhere) no McMeats. There are some very good prices for lunch specials. A wide menu, vegetarian and meat-eaters can both be satisfied. Freshly squeezed juices. A clean and modern environment though mostly reminiscent of fast food. That's all OK -- we know economies of scale also can work in our favor. Service is friendly and efficient. This place does great business too. On a Saturday evening, I went in to pick up dinner for a whole group (we wisely ordered in advance). There was hardly even one parking space available -- and for "fast food"?? that's got to signify something. Keep up the good work, Pita Inn!

  • Kelly F.

I love this place! It's my go-to lunch when I'm working in Glenview. The pita is always so fresh and warm and I could easily drink a gallon of their homemade lemonade. They are always busy, but I call in my order and it's always been ready and waiting when I get there.

Something about this place makes me crave it nonstop at the most random times ever since I've been introduced to it 5 years ago. Crisp, warm falafels, well marinated beef shawarma, juicy chicken, Kifta Kabob drizzled with yogurt and hot sauce on top of a bed of seasoned rice and salad with iceberg lettuce and tomatoes = the greatest (business) lunch special ever. Next to the chicken and rice from the street carts in NYC, this is the best meal $5 can buy. It hasn't disappointed and the huge portions always makes the deal even better. Hummus and baba ghannoug with homemade pita bread are delicious companions/starters to the meal. Well worth the trip for such a treat.

This place is great for Cheap, fast food Mediteranean or Middle Eastern style food. My co-workers and I come here for their awesome and cheap Lunch specials, mostly under $5.00. At lunch time, most people order the Combination Feast for $3.98.... which consist of a combination of Shish kabob, Kifta Kabob, Shawarma and Falafel served with yellow rice, salad and their homemade pitta bread (add chicken for $1.00 more). This is a great deal, and usually costs $8.95 for dinner time. The portions are huge, and I always never finish my plate. There is always a large lunch crowd, so they are always turning out freshly grilled meats. My food always come out nice and hot and my pita bread is always warm and never hard and stale like some other Middle Eastern places. I've ordered their Hummus, Baba Ghannoush (cold dips), Kibbeh (cracked wheat with minced ground meat inside), their Sish kabob sandwich....all very good. For a healthier meal, I sometimes opt for their Vegetarian combo plate (Combination of falafel, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, baba ghannoug, Jerusalem salad and Tabouleh salad served with pita bread. For you non carnivous, the Vegetarian Combo plate would be a good meal option and it always leave me full and satisfied. Its best to come here before 11:30am before the mad lunch crowd, else you may have to wait for a parking spot or wait for a table to open up.

I HAVE to give this place 5 stars. I have been here plenty of times and it's always been great. They manage to keep their business and service really steady. Now I have only come here for lunch so this review is based on their service and lunch time food haha. Sorry guys. But for around $5-$6, you get yourself a plate with chicken, rice, lettuce, tomato, 2 pita, 2 different meats, and a ball of something. For the money, this is THE BEST special I have come across. You get a huge plate filled with food. They also have a red hot sauce and a white yogurt sauce to go along with your food. I personally love the hot sauce because of the flavor and its a little spicy which gives my food a kick! Yogurt is mellow and not sweet, it doesn't have a weird taste but, "weird is different." Their service is always great, I always see the same guy cleaning the tables so their staff must be reliable. Silverware is always clean, although you have the choice to use the plastic utensils. Definitely come here during lunch if you really wanna get your best bang for your buck. I would recommend this place to anybody that is looking for good Mediterranean food. BTW - Lunch special is good between 12-3 I believe.

I've experienced a wide variety of Mediterranean cuisine and this place in the burbs was quite tasty! Not far from work, I'm wondering why I haven't tried it sooner. Although the atmosphere is much like a fast food place, the quality and price of the food makes it worth while! There are times when you just want a relaxed atmosphere without compromising the food and this place is it. They were quite organized with taking / distributing orders and the fact that the place was packed didn't impact their timeliness....not to mention, a good sign the food is on point!

  • Caroline A.

Whenever I'm in the area, I make it a point to stop in Pita Inn. This is often a meeting place if having lunch with my friends in the burbs. The hummus here is sooooo good!! I usually get falafel, hummus and babaganoush with lots of pita. I'm pretty sure I've gotten the tabbouleh and dolma as well. If you're a carnivore, I highly recommend the seasoned meats. Best of all, service is fast and everything on the menu is very inexpensive.

What can I say that others already have not said. Pita Inn is a great place for Mediterranean food. The fact that I we drive 25 minutes from the south western suburbs to get here should speak for itself.

The $4.95 business lunch is an excellent value and delicious. It probably provides enough protein for three days. The garlic sauce--50 cents extra--is a delightful enhancement. It is justifiably crowded, ambiance is nil, and music is loud.

This place has been yelped to death but I'll try to keep it short I have been to Europe and they are fanatical about their shawarmas, doner, and durum kabobs. Particularly Germany has a fondness for these kabobs. Many a night after stumbling home from a pub in the early hours of the morning, I would find these vendors and taste a bit of heaven. As I have been back to the states I have tried a lot of different places for chicken shawarma and frankly they all kinda sucked. Typically the chicken is underseasoned and dry. The first time I ordered the chicken shawarma here it was dissapointing. It was dry and grisly, though i could taste that it was seasoned well. I was very sad. I came back again and ordered the sandwich...and my eyes lit up. This is the taste I had been searching for, for a very long long while. The sandwich was fabulous. Especially topped with their hot sauce and accompanied by one of the best hummuses I have had. It was awesome. BEST SHAWARMA I'VE EATEN OUTSIDE OF EUROPE~~~!! ...man, just imagine if I visited the middle east....

Pita Inns all over the greater Chicago area are simply amazing. Whatever you are doing, stop and drop into the Pita Inn for lunch. The lunch business special is pretty amazing and it comes in at the hefty price of $4.95. Everything about this place is glorious. I have never had anything other than the business lunch combo and the veggie combo but I feel like I can vouch for the entire menu. Will I visit again? HELL YES.

This is a hit or miss place. The ingredients of the sandwich that are grilled sometimes are partially uncooked. Their salad is really good though. Consistently! They are fast. Oh... the guy at the counter with mustache is funny!

I'm surprised I haven't Yelped this place yet - maybe it's b/c I go here so often when I'm in the area it's like habit and not out of the ordinary. I love love love this place. More than the food, which is flavorful and tender, I think this restaurant takes pride in getting your money's worth. Especially when you think about their business special: $4.95 for a falafel (which I love!), chicken tender, shwerma, beef tender, small side salad and a pita, how could you not say they don't value the dollar for their customer???

This is the best value in lunch anywhere. Business lunch special is awesome. Xtra hot sauce is a must! Friendly staff and quick. I can't say enough good things about it. Get there at 11:30 and there should be no wait. At 12:15 it could be out the door.

Really good food and the business special is the best lunch deal going in the city. The kifta, hummus and falafel are the best around and all the food goes so well together. One of my favorite lunch spots in the city

Vegetarian platter + large order of hummus and pita + lamb kebab sandwich + baklava = Lunch and leftovers for $16!! I've heard a lot about this place, but it took a rainy Sunday with not much to do for us to drive all the way to Glenview just for lunch. So glad we did, though, as the food was delicious. Even more impressive was the cleanliness of this restaurant; I was expecting a dive diner; instead, the Pita Inn was expansive, with lots of windows, and very, very clean! They've received a lot of awards, and the Hungry Hound loves them too!

I just discovered this place and can't get enough! Everything is delicious and you get lots of food for your money. The hot sauce is the greatest thing I've ever tasted.. By the time I'm done, I've got sweat dripping down my neck! I really like the Kibbeh and Falafel appetizers, and usually get either the chicken or beef shawarma dinner. Its like greek souvlaki or gyros, but without all the grease! I crave this food so much and can't stop thinking about it sometimes. My cousin called the Kifta "little burgers from heaven" and I agree too. Everything they make here is outstanding. The only thing I don't like is the Tahini sauce, but that's just me....I just don't like it period.

I love love love this place. I must have tried everything on menu twice ! It is amazing. The chicken fatoush salad Is to die for ( I would ask for the dressing on the side ...it can be overwhelming) the hummus is amazing. The falafel pieces are great...Amazon g hot sauce

I've had takeout here but recently stopped in for lunch. Despite arriving just in time for the lunch rush, orders were coming up quickly and tables were being cleaned fast - there was no waiting around for a place to sit. Food was tasty, fresh, and hot. The lunch special is almost too much food for lunch, but it's all too good to leave anything behind. Very good value as well. At these prices, you'd halfway expect crappy food but Pita Inn delivers.

Pita Inn was a surprise to me- I'm going to be blatantly honest and say I wasn't expecting much. Possibly some mass made falafel and and canned baba ghanoush. Now I'm sure the falafel was mass made (obviously it's one of their staples) but that baba ghanoush--- FANTASTIC. The service is quick and to the point. You really should overlook the menu and decide what you want prior to ordering though. The restaurant in general is clean. The food is very very very reasonably priced. The taste makes you feel as if you are robbing this business. I definitely recommend it- especially to Chicagoians- hop in you're damn i-go car and go!

Can't give any place a 5 star because its extremely rare - but Pita Inn is definitely worth 4.5 stars, or close to a 5. Food quality is excellent, never had gristle in anything, chicken or steak; never had a problem with portions as are are all very decent; and price is not too bad. Totally love the shish kabob and chicken shwarma sandwiches; the rice is good albeit bland (duh); though I am no hummus and falafel expert, both are excellent, and the hummus comes with pita so no need to order extra unless if you want. They have two sauces, one is a bit milky-ish which is flavorful, and the other is kind of a salsa, great for the sandwiches but watch its bite. Staff is friendly, though the two young gals at the ordering/paying booth seem a bit frosty but they are nice though anyways. Tables are clean as are the metalware (yes, real forks & knives). Recommended!

I cannot write anything about this place that hasn't already been stated. Really delicious food at really low prices. There are Mediterranean places downtown where I live, but none taste as fresh as Pita Inn. My only grievance is that I treat the place like a fast food joint, and get impatient during the dinner rush when it can take awhile to get your food :)

Best six bucks ever spent! The lunch special has four different types of meat. My favorite was the chicken and beef shwarma. Their sauces were good although I didn't know what they were.

solid place lunch was a bargain 4.45 for a lunch plate that has everything chicken shawrma kefta lamb its an awesome deal. so dont expect ambiance, or some sexy place...its just get your food and eat it and get the hell out

We go to Pita Inn quite often. This place is completely fabulous! The hummus is some of the best I've had. They make their own pita bread, so it's always fresh. The falafel is tasty. I usually get either chicken schwarma or a chicken tender sandwich to go with my hummus and falafel. Everything is very inexpensive. They are open late (at least until 11, depending on the day) and they are always busy. Even at 3:00 in the afternoon when no other place is busy. You can eat in, carry out, or eat outside. In the restroom is the most powerful hand dryer I have ever seen. It practically blows the skin right off your hands.

Words can hardly do this gem of a joint justice. Whenever I travel north, I always find an excuse to stop at Pita Inn. The baba ganoush is the best I have ever had. Period. It is creamy (I think they add some yogurt), smoky, and simply delicious. I would drive to Glenview for the baba alone. Yet is also worth noting that this place is always full, day or night, for other good reasons. They have a stupendous vegetarian platter, fantastic tabbouleh, and very generous portions. The meat is fresh and plentiful as well. You really can't beat this place--head over heels above Sultan's Market. If only they would open another location, maybe in the center of Logan Square. That would truly merit a sixth start.

SOOOOOOOOOO good mmm mmm mm! 1-get the hummus There are always lunch specials but everything is so good there most people get the falafels, but for me its all shish kabob baby! that or the combination platter sooooo good, you have a variety of everything this is must have, i love middle eastern/Mediterranean food and i love Pita Inn. It's always where my family goes Also, if you speak arabic they speak it as well, props for keepin the business where it came from holla!

After visiting New York and trying the "chicken and rice"/ Chicken shwarma stands, I fell in love with that dish. But coming back to Chicago, me and my friends could not find a place that could get as close as those stands. We tried multiple Mediterranean restaurants and some just couldn't get close. Pita Inn has been my best experience for Mediterranean food and the closest to what i have been looking for to match the food carts in New York. I think one of the main reasons their dishes are the closest is because of the hot sauce and white sauce they have. Everything I have tried here has been delicious and been happy with, but the one thing that no one can beat is their business lunch special. I always try to make it just in time to get their special. This place is ALWAYS packed!! Parking kinda sux but sometimes it okay. The location on Milwaukee is really really nice but the Skokie one is a lot closer to me.

I LOVE Pita Inn!!! On a busy night, it's difficult to find parking, but it's definitely worth the trouble. Great Chicken Schawarma. Great rice. AWESOME falafels! (the BEST in Chicago, I think...) They just have great food for a low price and you most likely won't be disappointed. On a busy night, the wait can be a little long for takeout -- about 15 mins. -- but, hey, that's a shorter wait than for other takeout places. I cannot attest to the service in the dining room as I've never dined in before. But carry-out is quick and people there are friendly. I wish I could be around during lunch to take advantage of their lunch specials, but, alas, having any opportunity to eat Pita Inn is always a treat!

  • Yogesh P.

I've been going to pita inn since I was a teenager. We would drive great distances to get here. I still drive over an hour to get here. Favorite is the falafel. Probably the best I've ever had. Bakhlava is good and hummus and baba is great. They have the best hot sauce. Don't go here if you're looking for a fancy restaurant with great service. You order at the counter, pick your food up there, get your own silver ware and napkins. But in the end your tummy's satisfied. Isn't that why you came in the first place?

    (5)
  • beno g.

The pricing is very good and they have nice patio seating for the summer. Compared to the Skokie location, this one is more comfortable and spacious with more parking. Best bet for this kind of food in the immediate area, quick, cheap, late, but not impressive. Sometimes the falafel patties are short on flavor and the meat a bit dry. Other times its perfect so this is hit or miss.

What more can you ask for? $5 lunch special is ridiculous. Top quality and fast as all get...

  • Lorna S.

I am a huge fan of this restaurant. The food is amazing, and it is served fast! This location is larger than the one on Dempster, and I like it more because it has an outdoor area. Although you feel a little rushed when you order, I'd still go there in a minute when I want this type of food. Also, their parking lot is large, and I've never had a problem finding a spot to park. You can also call ahead and they will have your food ready for you when you get there. I've heard that many people do this because it is always so crowded. I usually eat the hummus with pita bread, and the shish kabob dinner. It comes with tick and a salad. I don't care for the white dressing that they put on it, someone told me it's a yogurt dressing.

    (4)
  • Lindsey D.

The one star is for the awesome hummus and pita bread. I was expecting a healthy bean and vegetable packed pita sandwich. No such luck. I had the schwarma which was very dry with shredded iceburg lettuce and tomato slice. I'd say this was the taco bell of Mediterranean food. So sad.

The business lunch special is Great!! For $4.95 plus tax you get (lamb, beef, and chicken), rice, a salad, and pita bread. Most of the time I call in advance and pick up the food..Quick service and always fresh food..A lot if choices for meet lovers and vegeterians also..Yes I am a fan..and recomend this place.

Pita Inn is great. I love everything about Pita Inn from their fresh ingredients, juicy meats, their sauces and how they always give me an extra free pita when you ask when they call your number up. Awesome. If you like Mediterranean food, Pita Inn is the place for you. My usual is the Combo Platter which gives you pretty much all the major meats in one plate. Yeah, sounds like a winner. Their hummus is also legit so make sure you get that too. Every time I've been there, I've always been greatly satisfied. And that my friends, is how you know you got a 5 star restaurant on Yelp.

    (5)
  • David S.

Excellent food. Freashly made and resonably priced. Best Meditearnian food for the money. The combo platter is the best deal. Get it on the lunch special when it is $4.95. The regular price is $8.95. Stil a great deal.

This place is legit ... awesome menu with plenty of options for everybody. Go HERE instead of "Pita House" imitators. Food portions are huge and meats are very tasty. This restaurant offers a great value for middle-eastern cuisine. I went on a monday evening and it was BUSY. no less than 20 cars in the parking lot at any time. You can't argue with that! Also... Pita Inn is open late, 11pm weeknights and midnight friday/saturday nights.

  • Albert K.

Lunch special-- great price and great taste. The fact that this restaurant has been around for such a long time really attests to the quality of this restaurant.

  • Elizabeth D.

Terrible. "Middle-eastern" Taco Bell. Place was ridiculously crowded, loud and dirty like a middle school cafeteria. Lunch special was basically burnt, yet still raw in the middle meat, inedible shreds of iceberg lettuce with a side of yellowish Rice-O-Roni... neither of us could eat this Not much of a bargain since we had to go eat elsewhere afterwards... Avoid.

The food is amazing and the service is quick and easy. The prices are affordable and my husband I eat here at least 2-3 times a week. The chicken fatoush salad is very delicious and one of our faves. Everything we have eaten is delicious. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite places to eat in Chicagoland. I've been a patron since I was a kid, and don't see my love of Pita Inn slowing up anytime soon. My visits to Pita Inn are usually a result of me getting a craving for it and I just can't resist. I always order the Combo Feast w/ small hummus, and every single thing on the plate is amazing. Shwarma, kabobs, tahini sauce, pita bread, it's all so damn good! The rice pilaf and falafel stand out as incredibly delicious. I'll typically split this with the gf AND have left-overs because they give you so much food. Pita Inn is also very consistent every time you go, as well as across all 3 locations. Pretty cheap eats too for the amount of food you get. I'd definitely recommend Pita Inn to anyone that enjoys Mediterranean cuisine, and even people that are willing to give something new a try, it's insanely good!

  • Adrian W.

Highest priced entree? 7.95 Wait time? 3 minutes. Maximum capacity? 75 occupants. Best deal? Business lunch = combination of all the meats with rice and a small serving of lettuce and 2 pita. 4.95. Happy customers? 75 occupants. Just be prepared to wait to order if you swing in at noon.

Amazing and it you don't know it's good simply from the crowd, you are missing how people really do love fresh food. Fast, delicious. Wasn't a huge fan of the tabouli, but the hummus, lamb, falafels, rice, baklava and sauces were all fantastic. Best stuffed grape leaves I've ever had.

  • Carolynne M.

Love, love, love Pita Inn. I dont know how they do it and I don't care. Cheap, fresh and fast. Falafel is yummy, hummus and baba ganoush are divine, sandwiches are big and piping hot. A huge lunch for about $5! Only downfall to me is the crowds, but hey, can you blame people for coming here in droves?

I use to visit a different place in Niles but unfortunately they closed. Then I started going to Pita Inn. Their lunch special is the best buy around ($5). A combination of Shish Kabob, Kifta Kabob, Shawarma and Falafel served with rice pilaf, salad and homemade pita bread is enough to feed me and my two children. With order a side of Hummus and we're all set. They also have vegetarian plates for those who either don't eat meat or partake in Lent. All and all this place is a must try whether for lunch or dinner. Just make sure you bring an appetite.

    (5)
  • Renata M.

Someone told us it's great place to eat, but we went there, we wanted to tried sandwiches because we were little in hurry. I got little bread and in it meat - which I ordered without knowing what I actually ordered - Shahi or something like that - and it was too expensive for that small amount of food. We were still hungry!! Maybe we should ordered the meal, which are little more than $7.00, but this was little less than $5.00 and it was disaster.

  • Chris G.

How can you go wrong with this place??? Man, you get a meal for 2 days for $5 (the combo platter business special), especially when you are there on weekdays. Their food is good and satisfying. I only wish we had one of these in Seattle.

We go to the Pita Inn located in Skokie on Dempster whenever we want "cheap eats" (check out Dengeos for another). The Pita Inn is a great melting pot of people. A miniature United Nations. Everyone is always polite despite the fact that it gets crowded paticularly around lunchtime and dinnertime. What they call their noon business lunch is $5 and an incredible amount of food -falafel, gyros, chcken shwarma, beef kabobs, rice and salad and $1 less if you don't order the chicken. Best falafel and hummus i know about. Everything is fresh and freshly cooked before your eyes. Order at the counter and find a table and hold it until your order is ready in 10-15 minutes. Try their pomagranate juice. Their store next door sells fresh hummus, stuffed grape leaves and cheese as well as pita.

The McDonalds of Middle Eastern Food. If your looking for something flavorful and with some similarity to middle eastern food staples, I guess this place would be it. The food was delicious and the portions are ridiculous- for someone looking to fill up on fairly good food and not spend too much, I'd recommend this place :) The rice slightly oily and globby, nothing spectacular, and tahini watery to my taste, the shawarma and kebabs tasted pretty good. Hommus was alright. Regardless, try it and see for yourself :)

  • Sai M.

Great food at great price. Their chicken tender is amazing and you cant go wrong with anything else there at pita inn.

    (5)
  • Matt W.

This place rocks! Being an average fan of mediterranean food, this place heaps on tons of food on one plate, with lots of hot sauce and tahini sauce to go along with it. Great value and fresh food off the grill. I recommend the chicken tenders dinner (i know sounds cliche) but probably the juiciest chicken I have ever eaten. The rice is like uncle ben rice but fluffier and 10x satisfying.

  • Nery E.

their falafel are the best! u try one and you are hooked for life! they got u! i always order 3 additional falafels with my business special order! i also love their jerusalem falafel sandwich! great staff, they get your orders out fast! if crowded, call in, place your order to go, skip the long line, and eat there!

    (5)
  • Virginia T.

The hummus, shawarma, pita and falafel are really great...I won't say excellent but it's convenient, fast, cheap and tasty! Most everything at the Pita Inn is inexpensive but the weekday lunch special is the best ... for only $3.95 you get salad, shawarma, falafel, rice, shish kabobs and kefta kabobs. And of course, that great pita bread! (M-F 11-3) This location is less crowded than the Dempster location, parking is easier, etc. There are still lines, but they move quickly. Whenever I'm in the area, I'm here!

    (5)
  • Sara B.

Went here for lunch. The place was PACKED. From what I understand it always is though. I got the falafel pita, a small hummus to share with my sister and some baklava and it was all yummy! I got a mango drink as well and it really hit the spot for a sweet non-soda drink. The key here is to have a tad bit of patience and a touch of determination. Getting a table can be tricky if you are lacksidasiy about it and you need to be ready to sit in close quarters with strangers. The food however, will make that all seem trivial once you take you first bite.

Even if the orders are slow, the food is worth the wait! Love it! I always get the combo plate. Amazing!

I've reviewed the other Pita Inn (in Skokie), only to realize that I haven't yet reviewed this one. The Glenview branch was my first experience with Pita Inn, and that's when the obsession started. You really can't go wrong with anything you might order here.

    (5)
  • Joan L.

What can I add to the outstanding reviews for this top notch operation? The food is excellent and always prepared perfectly. The hummus, Baba Ghanoush, falafel, and meat entrees are fabulous. The vegetarian plate was perfect for one of the first warm days in spring. The falafel is perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed. Not to be overlooked are the tahini and hot sauce for dipping the meat and falafel. It really gives the dishes an extra kick. The home made mint iced tea is an excellent accompaniment for the exotic fare as well.

    (5)
  • Rachel M.

This is the best mediterranean food I've ever had in my life. This place is always packed with patrons who are either dining-in or waiting for their take-out, but it's so well organized that there never is a long wait which is impressive for a made-to-order establishment. The portions are bountiful and the meat is always perfectly cooked. The baklawa is a must, no matter how full I am at the end of the meal. The mint tea is a superb blend. For the quality, price, and portions this place rivals any fast food joint with bonus points for authenticity and healthy options.

My Thursday lunch pal and I went to the Pita Inn on Saturday. While he eats there regularly [enough that the staff acknowledge him personally], I was somewhat skeptical. I am not overly fond of middle Eastern food, but since it has been some time since Ive had any, I agreed to go there with him. The service was fast! The restaurant was CLEAN! Though my friend picked up the check that day, I thought it was reasonably priced and without need for tipping. The food that I had was pretty good. I had lamb, which I thought was quite tasty. I only have ever had falafel once before, and didn't like it, but the way it was served there, along with some tasty dipping sauces, thought it wasn't too bad. The rice and lettuce were somewhat un-remarkable, but not worthy of complaint. All-in-all the food was a good value, and left feeling satisfactorily filled. As I said I'm not overly fond of middle Eastern food, but I would eat there again, maybe in 6 months or so.

  • Luke S.

The business lunch special is near perfection. They give you four different meats, salad, rice, pita bread, and falaffel. All of this for 5 dollars?!? The food is always fresh and tasty. If you go during peak lunch hours expect a short wait. The line looks more intimidating than it actually is. Enjoy the deliciousness!

  • Laura P.

I would consider working in the suburbs again just so I could eat their lunch special.

  • Leocris L.

yummy! quick service. since i don't live that far, i phoned in for a pickup order. when i got there, probably a 5 min drive, the food for 3 was already ready! their falafel was tasty, my lamb kabob sandwich was very filling. it's a man sized portion. and i think their rice has crack in it. it's quite addicting. only thing neg i can say about the place is- they go a little overkill on lettuce in their dinner plates. doesn't seem to mind me though. just gets a little messy.

Great food, good prices, quick service and fab mint tea. Of the Pita Inn locations this is the most comfortable to dine in. Love it

  • Andrew H.

I could eat here every day. Everything is good, and it's all cheap. The business lunch special is just stupidly cheap, they could charge at least two more dollars and people would still be in awe at how cheap it is for how much food you get. The hummus and pitas are incredible, as is the baba ganouj. Writing this review makes me want some........

  • Erik N.

This place honestly opened my eyes to new kinds of foods way back in the day, so I feel I owe it to Pita Inn to give it a great review (and my first as well). They have a $4.95 lunch special that is packed with all of the good stuff: beef kabob, chicken tender, rice, beef shwarma, a fallafel, and salad. Definitely a good alternative to fast food lunches, and CHEAPER! It's not one of those situations where it's cheap, because it's all food from the night before. They make everything fresh and right there in front of you. They've been making their containers/utensils/bags more eco-friendly, so that's sure to please a bunch of people who frequent it on a daily basis. I'm glad they've opened up multiple locations, but have still managed to keep up the quality of food. It's definitely a first option whenever I'm in the area.

I often fantasize about a Pita Inn landing somewhere in the Loop to make my lunches that much happier. Alas, it has yet to happen. I used to frequent this spot when I was taking some classes in the area, and I was never disappointed. The chicken shwarma, kefta kabobs, hummus, rice, spicy red sauce, lemonade... Mmmm.... I wish I could have you right now Pita Inn! Damnit, why do I review places that aren't near me before lunch?

    (5)
  • Jinhee S.

their baklava is ridicously toooo sweet. but other than that, this place is too good. they have specials during the week, and for $4, you get more than enough, and their hummus is so good. the pita is always hot and fresh, and the food itself is so healthy, no grease or anything. if you decide to come here during noon - lunch time, the parking gets kindof hectic, so probably best if you order carryout and just park on the side for a minute and run in. not a single bad thing to say about this place!

    (5)
  • Lester L.

Excellent. Won't comment on the food as everything has been said. Will comment on the service: I bought a tray of baklava to take home. When I mentioned to the guy at the counter that I would be taking it onto the plane with me tonight, he offered to wrap the container in plastic wrap for me. Excellent service and thoughtfulness.

Inexpensive fare where the most expensive entree clocks out at $7.95. Since we didn't come during "business lunch hours," we paid $6.95 for the same $3.95 meat combo platter. The meat combo order isn't any fun unless paired with the vegetarian combo platter - also $6.95. The food is OK and comparable to stuff you'd find in Hyde Park (one of my few benchmarks), but not as good as Reza's (another benchmark) - although some are not fans of Reza's. Pros: Crispy falafel, Inexpensive, Excellent tabouleh (heavy on the parsley vs cracked wheat); Baba ganouj is very good Cons: Forgettable plain "yellow" rice (incomparable to Reza's dill rice or vegetable rice); Beef schwarma is more like gyro meat; They don't offer lamb schwarma!!!; Hummus is just like any other place's hummus; Iceberg lettuce & tomato slice "salad" is ridiculous; Mint iced tea is like water you washed mint leaves in; Total "meat weight of all the portions in the combo meat platter appear "less" than single orders of meat entrees. Next time: I'd order the falafel, baba ganouj, tabouleh and perhaps the lamb; I'd skip the meat combo unless getting it as the "business lunch special."

I love this place. Can't get enough of the fatush salad. Need to expand to downtown Chicago so I can go eat there every day.

I drive from Chicago to Skokie about every other week just to go here. The food is amazing and the service is quick and efficient (you order at the counter and pick up your food). The look is no frills but nice and clean. No one should be without at least one visit to Pita Inn.

I cant say it any simpler than you cant find a cheaper better Falafel sandwich and order of Hummus!!! Great food cheap prices. Enjoy!!!!

LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Pita Inn. My boyfriend introduced me to it and omg best hummus in the world. I've never been disappointed there. The food is always delicious. My favorite is the chicken and hummus with the mint tea. It's so yummy!!! The prices are extremely reasonable and its pefrect for light eating, if you're watching what you eat. The music is a little too loud, but the food is so great that you'll deal with it. :)

.This Pita Inn is far better than the one in Dempster. More parking, outside tables and better food quality and as always the Hummus is awesome!

I should give it 4 stars because this place is very out of the way for me. However I was in the area because I had to go to Gold Mill's JC Penny's to get new glasses. Seriously, I would go back. No I will go back, but to the Dempster Location because it's a bit closer to me. Enough about location, let me tell you about this place: Cheap and good. I had the combo plater and it was very good. I've only had Mediterranean food like this 2 other times - Reza's in Andersonville and Marrekesh in Wicker Park. This place had both places beat. The meat & rice tasted just as good as both, but the price @ Pita Inn made it unbeatable. Reza & Marrakesh were $8 + while Pita Inn's combo with all that meat and extra was roughly $7.50. The Kefta Kabob would have been about $6 if I got it. It's soooo good. Am I going to go back? Probably becuase Thursday's seem to be my Mediterranean dinner night.

Great food, love the falafels, hummus & tabouleh salad! They give generous portions and it's always fresh. The other thing we love is the service--we always see the same people cooking as well as the ones that clean up. The staff are fast and friendly!

I didn't go there, I just ate the food. But boy did I eat it. I saw this place on Check, Please! and was surprised at all of the excellent reviews. But seriously, so good. Usually food that comes in a styrofoam container is maybe not the freshest but I got a combo platter and even after a 40 minute drive it was still delicious. If I lived over there, I'd be there all the time. Recommended!

WOW! I actually just go home from eating at this place. Have driven by all of their locations many times but finally decided to stop by with my husband. Wasn't sure what I was ordering but everything turned out to taste great!! We started off with the Baba Ghannoug and Falafel. My main dish was the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich and my hubby ordered the Lamb Shawarma Sandwich. They also gave us a side of something spicy and me being a lover of anything spicy I certainly enjoyed it on my sandwich. To top it off its reasonably priced and certainly won't hurt your pocket book.

I love mediterranean food, but this was just mediocre. I ordered the lunch special and was disappointed with everything but the chicken tender. The beef wasn't tender at all, which was a shame because there was so much of it. The pita bread was hard and tasted store-bought. The chicken in my mom's shawarma sandwich was very dry, though I liked the seasoning. Service was great -- flexible and fast, which is just what I want when I'm in a rush to grab lunch. The prices are amazing ($4.95 for everything you get in the lunch special is a great deal), so next time I'm back in the area I'll give something else off the menu a try.

Fresh falafel, tasty hummus: can't ask for anything more out of a Middle Eastern joint.

One of the best Mediterranean places in the NW burbs, Pita Inn is a local legend. Others have tried, but none compare to the consistently great menu Pita offers. One of THE best lunch specials you can find in the area, I believe their lunch combo runs from $3.95 - $5.95.

Lucky for me this place is close to where I work and I have been frequenting this place for the last 12 years. Hands down, the best Middle Eastern "fast food" in Chicagoland!! I love a place that is consistent and that's the way I feel about Pita Inn. The hummus is fantastic, but so is the soup, gyros and the chicken fatoush salad...how can it get any better than this? The price is also right!! One of my co-workers gave me a couple of gift certificates for Xmas this past December...man, was I happy!!!

Always passed this place up and never thought it would be so good. And who could pass up 4.95 for business lunch. Meat, rice, salad, and a pita... MMMMM.. what else is so good about it. Healthy Mediterranean food.. They give you a very generous sized portion. Fast service and the food is great. You can't go wrong with any of the food they have available, also at a great price, who can complain. I would definitely recommend this to anyone needing a quick fix at a great price

Worst chicken shawarma sandwhich I've ever had. I liked the hummus and bread, and the Jerusalem salad was just ok.The girls behind the counter were incredibly rude. I should of just had my husband order, but he was taking care of our 2yr old son. According to my husband "they weren't rude to me" Hmph.

My favourite middle eastern / Mediterranean restaurant in the Chicago area! I used to work up at Milwaukee & Dempster and loved going here for lunch. You get an amazing lunch combo with more food than you can even eat for less than $5. Well seasoned meats, excellent spicy and savoury sauces are complimented well by some of the best yellow rice I've had. You can't beat Pita Inn for a quick lunch.

shish kabobs were tender. chicken shwarma (shredded chicken) over rice was good too (but still not as good as the halal cart in NYC). the hot sauce had a kick but my only wish would be something a bit hotter. overall good experience
