My mother had guacamole and the "homemade" soup which looked good and she liked it a lot. The. Chips were a bit heavy, but crispy. The salsa is good - slightly chunky, and a bit spicy. At 3:30p on a sunny Fri afternoon the place is almost.empty. The Pacifico was cold and the class chilled. End of the goodness. My pork burrito was large ($10), but the pork didn't taste very good, was full of fat (yes, more that one might expect, and in almost every bite) the pork was like it is machine cut and it is a bit tough. I would recommend ordering the burrito w ground beef. Dear reader you might like to know that a "small" Margarita is $10 and a "medium" $12 and up. Yes, come on in. Your mileage may very. Good luck.

Absolutely horrible horrible horrible quality food. Honestly, you'll get better food and service at taco burrito King-sober. That's saying something. The drinks were way watered down, the meat(skirt steak) was so bad, the service was god awful. The waitress was so rude. I asked for a drink and it came on the rocks. Fine, being super polite I asked due to the miscommunication if I could get it frozen instead. You would think I asked her to give me her unborn child. I really watched myself to be polite all she could say is well we're gonna throw the other one away. Okay? Sooooooo I'm just suppose to drink it because I feel bad? I sincerely apologized but asked if there was any way to swap and I got the worst attitude. Just overall awful service, not polite at all. The food is just bland and not good. The chicken was dry, the meat was chewy and the shrimp was not seasoned/bland tasting. It's as if the chefs don't even care to try. I don't think they try at this location because suburbanites don't know the difference between good food and bad food. "Oh it's expensive ? Must be good then" um no, overpriced for poor quality food and not to mention skimpy portions. Save yourself the 50.00+ and go elsewhere.

I have been here twice for business lunches and enjoyed my meals. Not a huge menu, but you should be able to find something you like. It was quiet both times and the staff was prompt and on the ball. Not very big, but we got in and out quickly and for lunch that was important.

Just OK. Nothing really to write about. They are apparently famous for their margaritas. Mine was just OK. I got tacos for dinner.. they were just OK as well. Kind of dry. The rice and beans seems to have zero flavor. They offered us soup. Said it was free with dinner. It was plain, condensed chicken noodle soup. Huh? Something is weird about this place. Avoid.

This my first time at this location and it didn't disapoint great service and the waitress recommendations were spot on. There is plenty of parking and the small Margarita was bigger then most larges at other places with a perfect alcohol ratio. They have a lot of deals for lunch and the lalos special for lunch was tastey and hit a lot of flavors with sweet savory salty and spicy. I will def... be coming back here.

The food is terrible. Got chile relleno and it was soggy and gross. The waiter lacked a personality and couldn't even properly pronounce menu items properly. Additionally, the meal was pretty expensive. I will not be coming back.

I can't get enough of this place. Every time I go there's no wait, the food arrives quickly and the staff are always so friendly.

Surprisingly pricey They were not sure what to do for vegetarians Margarita was giant but not great ....

I was very surprised at how expensive this place was considering the food isn't good at all. Service was okay but a Mexican restaurant that cannot make your food spicy?? Also very overpriced for what you get. Food tasted microwaved. First and last time. Overpriced because your in Glenview ? At least provide a good dish.

2nd time at this location and it continues to disappoint. Sad menu, brief and uninspired. Not bad service, but just not enough servers. Way to expensive for uninspired blah mexican food. and and, the guacamole was just bad, old avocados. Go to El Jardin at the Glen.

I love this place, highly recommend the steak fajitas! They are cooked well and come with a generous amount of vegetables. The appetizer sampler is also great if you go with a group- the quesadillas and tamales were my favorite. I have never ordered the burritos, but have been here countless times with friends/family who had and loved them!

If you have never been here, this is probably the most reserved Mexican place you will ever eat at. It is very quiet and sacrosanct, even the bar. In fact, I had to ask the bar to put on the Blackhawks game one time, yes seriously. It tends to be a little pricey for mexican food imo. So let me detail what I have found that works for me and my need - usually this is a good third place for my wife and I to decompress, chat, and have a drink and share a nacho. They feature specials all week long but if you go on Mon/Tue evenings they have half price margaritas which ends up costing about $6 if you get the large. I hear they mix their own and that there is some secrecy to it. In my experience, the margarita tends to be potent but I have also experienced one with too much ice perhaps. You have your pick of easily a half dozen nacho toppings, may I suggest the chorizo. The staff can be hit or miss but mostly they are polite and courteous. Know that this place is located in the burbs and week day evenings tend to start rolling up around 9pm so plan accordingly. Cheers!

The margaritas are big! That's it.... My girlfriend recommended this place because we usually go to El Jardin in the Glen for Tequila Thursday. So we tried it. The waiter did bit seen thrilled nor interested to have us. We ordered 2 medium margaritas and I ordered the appetizer of 3 tamales. She wanted dessert and got cinnamon crisps with ice cream. Not only did it take 15 minutes for both margaritas but... The chips were stale, the salsa tasted store bought, her dessert was brought out 10 minutes before my tamales and they were dry. By then we had been there for an hour plus. The server pushed us out faster than he even came to greet us. We're sticking to El Jardin for sure.

Came in with a group of friends on a Friday afternoon. No wait. Food was good, ordered enchiladas suizas with chicken. A friend asked if she could make her own type of enchiladas and they were more than happy to accommodate. Three of us ordered a pitcher of mango margarita and the other three their own. The pitcher served about 6 drinks. For dessert we ordered a flan and fried ice cream. It was all very good and the service was very friendly.

It rockes. Their food is awesome, their drinks are strong, and their flan is cloud 9. strawberry margarita...wow burrito yumminess

I grew up in glenview and have never been to this restaurant, although I've passed it NUMEROUS times. My wife and I were in the area with a craving for mexican so we stopped here... Margarita's were good, and chips and salsa were good. But the rest of the dinners weren't so great. My wife got fajita's and I got carne asada dinner. Both turned out pretty bad. It was one of the few times I didn't bother to finish my food. Considering the price of the meals it was certainly not worth it. Probably the result of high rental cost in a nicer Glenview retail spot... But if you charge high prices, the food best be great...

    (2)
  • Todd W.

Expensive for what you get. The fajitas are mainly vegetables and for 16.99, I thought that was pricey. Monday's and Tuesdays have half off margarita's, which is ok. Time to try other places.

I so underwhelmed by the food here I've gone to Lalos since I was a child. I used to frequent the one on 26th street and Berwyn. Since I do spend a lot of time here I was excited to bring my boyfriend to the place where the soup reminds me of home. Sadly, the soup was water the 'hot' sauce (green) was not at all spicy. I had to ask our server to keep bring out hotter things. The shredded beef was sweet and served with a sauce that I've never had before. The service was good but the food was bland and sad nothing at all like the other lalos. I would make the trip to go to the south side next time.

I ordered a shrimp dish that was described as plump shrimp with garlic and butter infused flavor with rice. They were small shrimp with slightly cooked slices of garlic and had no flavor. Served with potato salad and some iceberg lettuce. I didn't see potato salad on the menu or wouldn't have ordered it. I sent it back and although the manager took it off the bill, he never came by the table. My boyfriend had the skillet and that was pretty good. I won't be going back.

Great for 2 visits Friday night. Family friendly. Ordered Carne asade and came with rice beans and enchiladas. The enchilada was delicious. Steak perfectly made medium well and the rice and bean. My wife and son ordered steak fajittas. Came with a lot of vegtebles juicy. Service not as attentive. Will come back.

Sigh. This place disappointed me. Just left this place with my family. We had a father's day lunch here. Lalo's by Berwyn, IL was fantastic so when we saw this nearby location we were excited. Guess we got excited too soon because the food was gross. The service was semi poor. The waitress got my order wrong, charged us 2 extra drinks and tipped herself 20%. The place was empty to my surprise because the Lalo's by Berwyn is always crowded. Now I know why this location is empty. I ended up paying close to 25.00 for 3 tacos? Never again will I eat here. Sorry. Smh.

  • Jennifer G.

The food at the Glenview Lalo's was ok and a bit overpriced. The service was all right. I ordered the beef enchiladas suizas and the waiter gave me chicken. It seemed to take a little while to get the check. The reason why I'm giving three stars is because I love the margaritas. I got the strawberry margarita on the rocks and it was delicious. I would say best margaritas. I had one and I still felt the warm happy feeling. I recommend my friends go for drinks and not so much for dinner.

We have been here for lunch and for dinner. I like the seating area to the right of the entrance because of the beautiful tile work. The area to the left of the entrance is nice but too dark - but that is where they also have their bar, They have all the usual menu items but are not willing to make minor changes upon request. For example, their steak is good in their tacos or for carne asada but they would not do a steak flauta. Good portion sizes. The refried beans taste like they are out of a can. Their rice is not well seasoned. Basic tacos or burritos are fine. Servers are friendly. I ordered a medium size margarita and it was HUGE Free parking in the mall lot. Wheelchair accessible.

Lunch visit - tried the buffet and it was OK. Busy place so turnover of items was fast and variety was unexpectedly varied and beyond standard high carb Hispanic fill up cheap food. Not exactly healthy all around but options there that at least were less evil than others. I'd go back

  • Christine K.

The food is nothing to rant and rave about but its decent for the price. The chips and salsa are great and the random soup that comes with your meal is never a disappointment. The thing I really enjoy about this place are the drink specials and staff. If you want cheap Mexican food and great drinks come here.

Pretty standard Mexican joint. Love the half off margaritas on Monday and Tuesday. The carne Asada was perfect juicy and flavorful. Looks nice inside located in a corner of a strip mall. Not bad prices for the large portions. Only wish they had more variety n done fried plantains the flan was ok kinda too sweet. But over pretty good spot for Mexican but not unique

I thought food was pretty good, albeit expensive. Loved their guacamole. I had the taco dinner with pork, chicken, and shredded beef. The beef was definitely way superior to the other two.

Gross had to give yours star to review. Waiter told us everything is microwaved so on the queso fundido they are unable to brown the fish because they don't have a salamander and u serve good to the public. 59 cent entrees for ten dollars. Go back to the neighborhoods that supported your scam. I'll head to Pilsen or 26th street for dinner no scam there

Great service every time we've been there. Festive ambiance and ample seating. Always seems to have customers. It's a plus that they have a kid's menu. Nice place for a celebration. The food is pretty good too. Would like to try their margaritas.

Nice private party room! Great service for a private party of 60 people in back room (no extra charge ). Very accommodating, server worked very hard. Food was decent, not stellar, but it was a buffet and the food did sit a while. Recommend!!

This is our local mexican restaurant. My kids like it. My 2 stars are because the food is pretty decent. The service has always been lacking. First the food. I have heard the margarita's are really good. I have never had them, but my wife likes them if we go with adults. We really like the Guacamole (didn't get this time) and the queso fundido with chorizo. It's really good. The salsa is not hot, so get a side of hot if you like. The kids love the chicken soup! How weird is that. I usually get a burrito. Pretty standard fare. The food quality has never been an issue for me. Here are the issues I have. They are all service related. 1) I am eating food with hot sauce, please do not let my coke go empty for 5-6 minutes. If the wait staff is busy, have the bus boys shag drinks. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. 2) When you deliver the food, come back shortly to see what else we might want or need. Maybe some drink refills. 3). When I ask for some carry out containers, it's probably a smart idea to inquire about desert or the check. I had to get the hostess to get he check on the way out the door. I know I expect a lot on service, but this is the basic.

This is a review for their Friday afternoon lunch buffet only. Probably the best Mexican Buffet I've ever had. Only offered on Friday's. The food items are plentiful. Quality is good. They even serve guacamole which would normally cost $$ if ordered on its own. 2 selections of soups and the food is fresh because of high turnover. 3 treches cake for desert is icing on the cake. For $8.99 per adult, its a great value!

Mediocre chips and salsa, terrible nachos with warm sour cream and cold refried beans, beyond watered down margaritas, chilly dining room that was half empty but they still seated everyone in a row so you could hear everyone's conversations, stinky, nasty bathrooms... Will never, ever be back.

I went here last night for my brother's birthday. He has always loved the place. Me? Not so much. After our experience last night, I have a feeling that even he won't be returning! We had made reservations for a big group for 5pm. We got there on time, and the table wasn't ready. The hostess seemed concerned and called the owner of the restaurant. Since we both speak Spanish, we could understand what she was telling him. The restaurant was empty and she was asking him where she was supposed to put us. We ended up waiting a few minutes for a table in the bar area. While we were waiting, I went to the bathroom and almost fell flat on my face as soon as I walked in. The floor was wet and slippery, and there was no sign indicating that. When I came out, I told the hostess that there should be a wet floor sign in the bathroom because I had almost fallen once I stepped on it. No apology was made. She just looked at the bus boy and said "Ramón!" He went into the bathroom and did not ever put a sign there. No apology from him either. We were seated and waited for the rest of the party to get there. Once our party had 7 people, the waiter did not even look over at us or anything. He was watching the TV next to the bar and walking around. I finally got his attention by waving. He was not friendly and didn't introduce himself or tell us the specials. When we mentioned that it was my brother's birthday, he just said "oh" and that's it. He just asked if we were ready and seemed annoyed that we had only ordered one queso fundido as an app. During the rest of the dinner, our waiter did not check in with us at all. It took forever to get water. The busboy would come and only fill some of our glasses and then leave, only to come back a lot later. The manager/owner walked into the bar and never greeted our table or asked how we were doing. We had all finished eating and the waiter was nowhere to be found. The owner could see that we were all done but did not seem concerned. No one ever came to sing my brother happy birthday, of course. As the owner walked by with a drink for another table, I asked politely if we could get the bill, and he gave me a sassy yes. How dare I ask him for anything! We finally got the bill, and everyone paid cash except for me. I told the owner to put the rest on my card, which was supposed to be $15.75. He brought the card back with a charge for $20.95 on it. I looked at it confused because I had counted twice and was sure that I had given him $74. I got his attention, and I said "Excuse me. I gave you $74..." and before I could continue, he cut me off and said, with a smirk "$69, $69" and walked away. I was shocked and asked everyone again what they had put in. It was as if he were calling me a liar, and we have been going there for about 10 years. He came back with the cash and started counting it out loud in front of me. "20, 40, 60..." then he got to a $10 bill, and I said "70." Then, he gave me some BS "sorrryyy, I thought it was a one...blah, blah, blah." Buddy, your "sorries" aren't enough to get me back to your restaurant. Needless to say, I think my brother has finally seen the light.

Went here for lunch w my mom and her friend. It was my 1st time trying this place. We had arrived just when they had opened up, so we were their 1st customers for the day. I was quite disappointed though. They didn't have green chili verde w pork rice and beans. That's my favorite whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant. I ended up trying their chicken Sopes, which was alright. They bring you chicken noodle soup to start off with, had some noodles, chicken, zucchini and carrots in it. It was okay. They also brought chips and salsa as starters as well. I did enjoy their fruity raspberry margarita. Overall my experience was so so.

Been here so many times in the past, but have not been here in quite some time. Checked Yelp before we left....found the ratings surprising. We had one bad experience w a waitress in the past, but that was like 1/12 times being here. Came in on a Sunday early eve...the place was slightly packed, waitress was kinda slow to take our order...she politely kept asking us to wait, but it kinda dragged out...I WAS HUNGEE!!!!! NEWAY, we had the chile rellenos (stuffed peppers) and a steak taco dinner.....everything was excellent, food quality made up for the wait. Staff was overall friendly, place seemed decently clean. Enjoy!

We won't be back. We were seated right away by the most unfriendliest person ever. I was hoping we'd never see him again but he turned out to be our waiter as well. He exuded "I really hate my job". Really, who doesn't?!! That's most of the working world. Not all of course, but most. Still not a valid reason to exude such disinterest at work. I ordered chicken tacos and my husband, enchiladas with mole sauce. My tacos are terrible. The chicken was dry and tough, the rice and beans were cold. My husbands food was hot but the mole sauce was just alright. Nuevo Leon is much better. The guy that filled our water came like every two seconds up until our food came. After that, never saw him again when we needed it most. We waited for a while for our waiter to come back and ask about the food and if we were enjoying it, you know what they are paid to do, he never did. We waited for him to come by the table and at least bring the bill, you know what they are paid to do, he never did. I had to go look for him. I found him chit chatting it up and laughing it up with his buddies. Now THAT's what you're paid to do -- obviously. As I mentioned at the outset, we won't be back.

The Margarita was not bad, the food was. Burrito Dinner for $10.50 was nasty - flavor was not distinctive - ingredients not fresh or possibly just over cooked and combined into a non-distinctive mush. The Margarita did help kill my disappointment. However, after a nap it was clear that $50 for two Margaritas at Lalo's is overly expensive when paired with the poor service and food. I would give it 2 stars but maybe they were just having a bad day all around. If I ever go back I may update this review.

The service was great. The food was average, but the margaritas were not good-the mix was not at all sweet.

Terrible, I'm into real Mexican food that has flavor and spice so I wasn't expecting much when I walked into a place in Northfield, IL. I was hoping for standard average food. Instead I got way below par. Chips were super stale and salsa taste like out of the bottle vinegary crap. Flautas were disgusting. Service is below avg. just close this place

  • Nicole S.

Let me start by saying that I would have originally given this place 3 stars, because their steak in the burrito I had was decent, but this place is just pretty awful. The food came out of the kitchen in under 10 minutes, which clearly indicates that it isn't very fresh. Their refried beans taste like they are fresh from a can, and their salsa tasted jarred. For the price, it just isn't worth it. A few hours after dinner I became very very sick, and stayed sick all night and most of the following day. This place doesn't deserve even one star, you are better off cooking at home or going down the street to Las Palmas, which also is not great but atleast better then Lalo's.

Had Lalos when it was on LaSalle Ave downtown, so i was excited to try this place. Excited to hear about 1/2 price margaritas Mon and Tues - however it doesnt include anything on the menu. It's their house margarita - lime only. I had crushed ice, my friend had ice cubes. Mine - not tasty nor strong. The $11.99 Target Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix was tons better. Food: i had the Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo, mild, shrimp very good. chips and salsa - bland. my friend had steak tostada and she had to salt it up - very bland. Service - not good at all. Felt rushed. Never filled our water glass - yes we had margaritas but our water was low - maybe a strategy? Asked for napkins - margarita overspilling they gave us 2. We asked again later on.. he pointed to one that we didnt use and i'm like no we want more- jerk. We got there at 730pm, place closes at 9pm, we felt rushed. Never going back.. EVER!

This place is simply awful! We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon while shopping in the area. We should have taken it as a sign that there was only one table of four on the patio, but decided to check it out anyway. Once we were inside, there were only 2 tables in the entire restaurant with any partrons even though it was 12:30! The decore is a mishmash of brightly colored painted Mexican kitsch & we were seated outside the "Caverna de los matadores" ( private room.) We were promptly seated and the waiter took our drink orders. While studying the menu (which had no lunch options) our waiter brought chips and salsa. About half the chips were stale, but the salsa had an interesting, somewhat smokey flavor which wasn't bad. I ordered chicken enchiladas suiza with salsa verde & my wife ordered beef flautas. Our meal came quickly, but that was about the only good thing I could say about the lunch. There were two chicken enchiladas which were covered in cheese, salsa verde & drizzled with sour cream. They looked fine, but as soon as I started cutting into an enchilada, I really had to saw away as the chicken was tough, dry & flavorless. The refried beans were rather watery as well. My wife's beef flautas were basically inedible as they were so hard, you could practically break a tooth biting into one. The "meat" filling was dry & stringy and probably would have been at home on the sole of a shoe. We ordered tres leches cake for dessert to cleanse our palettes which was actually (surprisingly) quite good. Overall, a lousy meal even though the service was pleasant, but impersonal. Stay away, stay far away!

I'm sorry to say this place has changed from even a few months ago... In a very negative way. Are they under new ownership? Last time they blew me away with an awesome chicken tortilla soup (w/fresh avocados)! So, what happened? This time the chips tasted like they were out of a bag, the salsa out of a can and large garlic chunks in the mariscos (shrimp dish) were uncooked and simply awful. And, to top it off, they served the shrimp dish with some sort of potato salad concoction which smelled rancid. Enchiladas suizas. Only OK. No redemption for the above problems. The menu seemed different, which is why I am wondering if they have new management or ownership. Still, no excuse. This restaurant is out in my book.

Prices are high. Even with the coupons that you get from the back of grocery store receipts, 2 people easily pay a dollar shy of $40 (including tip) and that's without alcohol. They have a bad habit of seating the obviously noisy family with obnoxious kids right next to the couple trying to have a romantic evening. I've experienced it first hand and I've witnessed it. I like the food and service but the prices keep me from being a regular.

Lalo's has a great lunch menu. Friendly staff, great service. Half-price margaritas on Monday and Tuesday. Nice bar and has tables outside in the summer, which to me is a big plus.

Well, I have been going back, but not as often. I would have to agree with other negative reviews.. the restaurant and menu needs some updating. Salsa is not as good or fresh anymore and chips super stale. I have ordered stake tacos and I was really sick the same night and the next morning. I would really like to write a great review but believe changes must be made. New management or chef is needed.. Now I really enjoy Maria's ..Sorry...

Went here for the first time last night. Food was overpriced. Our waiter was rude and I noted him smirking quite a bit. Doesn't even matter how the food tastes; Why would you choose to dine with someone waiting on you who knows his tip is included with the bill and could care less about the customer? Save yourself the experience. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Been here for the occasional margarita..not terrible. The food was good the first time I came, looking back it may have been after a couple pitchers, my subsequent visits were not so great. The food seems like it has been sitting around and then just gets plopped on your plate. The servers are nice and very accommodating, probably to make up for their so-so offerings. Words to the wise: Stay away from the Mole. It was so thick, a chip could stand straight up in it. eh. Not like any I have seen before. If you are just looking for some pitchers of margaritas and free chips then this is your place....IMPORTANT: make sure to ask for the vegetables that come with the salsa (Its a secret, you only get it if you ask and they are goooood!)

Two words: Fishbowl margarita. Four words: You will get wasted friends. After you're about halfway done with your fishbowl, your chicken fajitas will seem above mediocre tasting. Like, way delicious. And the restaurant will look high on Mexican art. Hey man. Whatevs. I'll be back.

I did like Lalo's when I was younger, back before I realized that the food here is fake, commercialized Mexican. Since experiencing high quality Mexican food I've realized how inauthentic and bad this place is. Along with the food not being very good, the service is pretty impersonal. They also often in the evenings have these live Mexican bands go around from table to table, playing music for all the patrons. Although the music is good there's major pressure to tip them, which isn't so cool on top of the money I'm already spending on my meal. The decor is pretty typical for a Mexican restaurant, and there isn't much ambiance to have at all. A few things that I like about Lalos are that they have decent margaritas, they serve a tasty soup as a free first course before your meal, they're prompt with getting out your food, and there's almost never a wait to eat here. Still, that's not enough to balance out all the negatives of this restaurant. I've heard the Chicago locations are better, although I can't imagine the food is much more authentic.

We ordered a take-out for 8 people. The food was really terrible. Even corn chips were too bland. The salad did not look good at all and had some wilted lettuce in it, so it went into the garbage. Chicken enchiladas had no taste either. The filling was plain, unseasoned chicken. We ended up throwing away most of the dinner. Needles to say, we were very dissapointed and I would never go back. Just to be clear this refers to Glenview location only, I have not been to others.

I work in Skokie, co workers kept raving about it. I must say I was pretty impressed. The food is not the best, but it is not bad. I had the Carne Asada, beef was very flavorful and cooked just the way I like it. You get a free cup of soup before your entree. It way too salty, and the veggies were mushy ( Carrots and Celery). Since discovering Wholly Frijoles in Lincolnwood, I have dumped this place.

Tasty, huge portions with sub-par service and pricey platters. Went for lunch one day with my bf and ordered the steak fajitas platter. Delicious and huge and big enough for two people but it'll cost you close to 16$! So we decided to split it and got a dirty look when we ordered from the waiter. It was delicious and autentica but its not worth the price if I were to eat it by myself. Margaritas are good and plentiful but I can go somewhere else for better service and prices.

I love their guacamole!! We ordered one extra side of guacamole, but they gave us two more extras, and only charged us for one! We were a bit scared at first, but it worked out well! Food was pretty tasty too! Service was ehh..the bus boys who came to refill our water and brought us chips and salsa serviced us more than our waitress. She took our order and never showed up throughout the rest of the night. It was another waiter that gave us our bill. They weren't really busy either, so I don't know but oh well, we went there for the food and it was good! Definitely try out their guacamole if you love guacamole like me!

This rating is for the lunch buffet only. Did not try the regular menu. Came here with several friends for lunch and found out that they have a lunch buffet for $8.99. The buffet had all the typical Mexican dishes. It may not be not the most authentic Mexican food but they tasted pretty good. With a drink, tax and tip, expect to pay around $14 a person.

i've been here a few times before, and it never really did disappoint. we were kind of craving some mex food, and i decided to treat my baby nephew and fam here. it had a great feel to it. quiet enough for a baby to sleep thru too. i had the pick 3; taco, enchilada, and tostada. i enjoyed the enchilada the most. the steak was a little bland for my liking, so the taste wasn't all there imo. i did enjoy the company, and baby newphew looked like he had a great time.. sleeping through the whole ordeal.

Always one of my North Shore favs. The margatitas remain the best I've had anywhere, and the food is as good as ever. This place remains on my comeback list whenever I'm in the Chicago area.

We had the Friday buffet and it was tasty. Small crowd of mostly office workers. Service was good. Host was welcoming. The food was hot (temp wise) and that is my first test for a buffet. Fajita's (chicken and beef) were the best item on the spread. I love having red peppers instead of green peppers in Fajita's- shows quality. Soup was good with lots of fresh veggies. Chips and sauces were good. They have fresh fruit and salad. I did not care for the fish. I'd go back.

Reading over the other reviews, I have to say that I have never had bad service here, and the chicken is always super tender. This location has a big party room in the back which is great for groups. It is really brightly decorated, and makes me feel really cheery even on those days that suck really badly. Of course, it might not be the decor, but the extra strong margaritas. I love the peach flavored ones. I usually go with the chicken tostada dinner, which is no longer on the menu, but they will still make it for me. Dinners come with bottomless chips and salsa, which is a staple BUT they also add pickled spicy vegetables, as well as their house chicken soup with every entree. This soup is magical. When I'm sick I order it carry-out (its like the Mexican version of Jewish penicillin). On top of all that, you get a sucker when you leave. Honestly... what else can you ask for?

Glenview doesn't have a huge selection of great Mexican restaurants, but it can certainly get one that's a little better than Lalo's. The food is kind of bland, the servers always seem a little down, and the place is never crowded.

This is the only Lalo's location I've ever visited. And I'm not understanding how this place has multiple locations. The food isn't very noteable and the margaritas are decent but not great. I will say that the service was pretty good. But I've tried the tacos, enchiladas and tamales at Lalo's and have been underwhelmed with them all. The food lacks the flavor and seasoning necessary for good Mexican food. It's bland.

Lalo's in Haiku Decent Mexican. Giant strong margaritas. Take a taxi home!

This location knocks the socks off the Clybourne Lalo's. First of all, the lights are low and there are multiple seating areas with cozy booths. Its fairly quiet (even if you're seated in the bar)... I've enjoyed the food and the margaritas are excellent. Service is very good to stellar. And its in a strip mall! Imagine that.

Great salsa and margarita's with very authentic Mexican food for a chain. They also have some Tex-Mex items including chimichangas and burritos, which seems a bit unusual for a sit down Mexican restaurant. This must be to cater to the gringos.

We made the mistake of trying this place due to its proximity to another business we were about to frequent, but did not check reviews first. Service was decent enough, but food left much to be desired. Has to be the most limited menu I've ever seen at any Mexican restaurant. Tried the tacos and they were just not tasty. Hubby split some queso with chorizo with his mom, which I also tried and liked better than the tacos, but nothing special. We will not be returning to any location of this restaurant.

I have to admit the food is delicious and all the server are great!! but they always say that the face of a restaurant is the host, something went very wrong there!!! The man not only does he have a bad attitude but his character and clothing isn't presentable for a name like Lalos. I would suggest inventing a more presentable host!!! Some one that actually smiles at you when you are coming in. Just a suggestion!!! My rating is based only on food and the service.

I LOVE this lalo's. Its my favorite. I come here on average, every 10 days. I have a specific waitress when I come here and she knows my order by heart! I heart you Cynthia!! Its kinda loud sometimes, but they serve booze and there's always a bunch of kids here. You always get soup before your meal but the soup is hit or miss because sometimes its salty and delicious other times its greasy and just tastes like chicken water. But other than that the place is tops! I don't drink so I can't tell you about the margaritas but I hear they're pretty awesome! Run, don't walk to this lalos in Glenview! PS. This is the ONLY good lalos in the area. The people are friendly and I've been to the other ones and they are SO different!!

We have been to Lalo's many times. After last night, don't think we will be back. Restaurant was fairly busy and they only had 2 waitstaff. Our waitress was the worst, never came to ask how our dinner was, never came back to ask if we wanted more drinks. The food was HORRIBLE. My daughter ordered quesadillas, what she got was 3 small tortillas with unmelted cheese in the middle folded over. I ordered burritos suiza, what I got was unseasoned shredded chicken rolled up in a tortilla with chopped tomato on top. They also offer a cup of homemade chicken soup before dinner. Waitress never offered it so I asked for it. It looked like she brought me someones who didn't eat all of it. It was cold and half empty. When she finally came by and I told her of our disappointment she went to get our check. I was shocked to see that she didn't deduct anything off the bill at all. After asking to speck to the manager she came back and had taken off the two entrees but the manager never came to talk to me.

Met hubby for lunch a few weeks ago, not all that impressed. The decor is nice but service was slow. As far as food goes, I've had better mexican food at Las Palmas and Toreo(Palatine). My chicken burrito was full of tough, overcooked chunks of breast meat so I ended up eating the rice and beans, which were tasty for you know, rice and refried beans. Can't fuck that up, can you? Chicken soup was excessively salty. Lalo's catered a luncheon for my employer and again, edible food but nothing spectacular. If someone else is paying, maybe I'll go again, but probably not.

Just like others have said the service is SLOW!!!!!!!! and they didnt even care, food was AVERAGE at best!! I will never be back, I had to flag down the hostess and have her be our waiter because our waiter didnt even come by the table once, place was half full at best It amazes me that this place can stay in business like I said, food was average at best, chips and salsa were below average, and the service was just about the worst service I have had in a long time hope you enjoy spending my 3% tip!

This branch of a local Mexican eatery chain has very good Mexican food at slightly high prices. Standouts here are their great margaritas, their mole dishes, and their flan, which is served with liqueur. Pleasant atmosphere in rather large strip mall restaurant.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
