Just ok. Food is good, but not great. Staff was ok. Was there when it got a luttle busy, got food in reasonable time. Did take a bit long to get our drinks, but it wasn't horribly long. Heard they are known for their fried chicken, been to a couple placed in Peoria that were much better. Also tried the chicken pesto Flatbread pizza. Tasted great, liked the toppings, but the crust was more like a floppy store bought flat bread. Needed to be thinner and toasted longer. Did like the variety of foods on the menu. Something for everyone. I wouldn't recommend it to others, but I wouldn't turn people away either. Only big plus was the price. Had a couple beers and a meal, final bill seemed pretty cheap. I'd go back if friends/family wanted to meet there again.

Ate here recently, Food was very good, Service, I would say the need to do some hiring. This was a Saturday night and the hostess was answering the phone, seating people, setting tables and handling the cash register. Way to much on this poor girl, She was really stressing and letting everyone know it. There were 2 bus boys moving at a snails place to clean off tables. This place was busy and most tables were full but there were empty tables too, but people had to wait anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to be seated. People were getting very upset. I don't even know how the bartender handled it. Poor guy couldn't even get glasses cleaned. I just think you need to get better organized. But will be back.

Bernardi's Pub at Lake of the Woods plaza is consistent with the other Bernardi's locations we have visited. Good food and clean, friendly atmosphere for family dining. My only complaint is that the meat sauce for the spaghetti smells and tastes exactly like canned Chef Boyardee. No kidding. Some people, however, swear by this meat sauce recipe. I, however, am not a fan. Other than the spaghetti, I've ordered the fried chicken (delicious), pork tenderloin sandwich (delicious), chicken wings (killer but only available at this location on Sundays) and today, best of all, the grilled shrimp po'boy. This sandwich is so freaking delicious: Cajun grilled jumbo shrimp, jalapeño bacon, onion, lettuce and tomato on a hoagie roll with a side of cucumber ranch dressing. It's served with Bernardi's signature homemade potato chips and typically sells for $11.95. Tuesdays are signature pub sandwich special day and you can get this and most others for $7. It's a steal. I'm a fan of Bernardi's despite the processed tasting sauce. Everything else is fantastic. Not sure I'll eat anything new here after that life changing po'boy.

I ate here with my son for one of our eat local nights. He had the "special" Mac N Cheese which was tasty. I have the "Godfather", which was Italian Sausage and Roast Beef. The sausage was good, as was the bread it came on. The beef was a tad dry and the amount of green peppers on it was too much to pull off. I figured I would be able to just pick them off, as I am not a fan. The sandwich had very little sauce. The homemade chips were amazing, as was our server Kaitlin. We will go back again, since it is close to our home. However, we will likely go when short on time.

Have a beer at the bar before being seated and enjoy the company of the verbal and awesome bartender Mary who has been there since this place was called the Woodcutter

I waited almost half an hour for my to-go order of just a seafood salad. I chose to have the shrimp in the salad and there were 4 small shrimp. That was disappointing for a $14 salad with a lot of iceberg lettuce.

This a go to place that we take our friends when they come visit. The fried chicken here is AMAZING!! Its consistently hot, fresh, crispy, juicy and most importantly flavorful. You add in great prices, service and convenient location; you have a Peoria hit for sure

Avanti's seems to be an institution here and to our tastes it tastes like it - institutionalized food... Think prison or maybe a mental ward. So we have been looking for a little pasta place for a weeknight dinner and I think we just found it. Just finished dinner. Honeybun had the Chicken Bruscetta Pasta. Very nice. I had the tenderloin sandwich with the little sidewinder potatoes (up charge but totally worth it). The tenderloin was immense. Very easily enough for two big sandwiches. Waitstaff was very friendly and made recommendations - something we always like to hear. We will be back again soon!!

This place was great! I had the walnut pear salad. Huge portion and I ate only half. My mom had the bruschetta pasta w/Alfredo sauce and side salad with the best creamy garlic dressing we've ever had! They're known for their fried chicken so I wanted to try it. I was able to get a single leg on the side. Very tasty and juicy, and still piping hot. The bread and butter was also fresh out of the oven and hot. Although the desserts sounded great, we were too full to indulge. We can't wait to come back and try some more.

We've been here twice. The food was decent and the sausage was actually good but the service was so horrible as to guarantee that we will not be back. The place was almost empty and after waiting for an hour after we ordered, we had them pack it all up so we could take it with us. The waitress and hostess just shrugged it off like it was business as usual. Not even an apology to an upset customer.

Love this place! They know us when we come in and treat us fantastic and we only go out there about once a month. Food is great and kids love it too!

Can't give a review except for the service and the pasta as that is all I seem to eat there. Just get a large Combination with some Garlic bread and/or the great onion rings as a starter and you'll leave satisfied and very full. - never seen anyone order a desert ...Only negative would be the wait sometimes and the slow service sometimes.

New menu, still great food! They definitely made this place better than it already was. They re-did the menu, adding a lot of different items, all of them are delicious! Must try's: Fried asparagus and beer pretzel with cheese sauce! - SO GOOD! I can't wait to try more from this new menu. Also, the bar was revamped, they added a bunch of new draft beers! Great beer selection! Can't go wrong with this place!!!!

Good friend chicken and huge portions. The sauce is like a fancy canned sauce, but I kinda like it. Good tortallini.

The food is always incredible. I have been a fan of Bernardi's for years. In fact, I hired them for my daughters wedding dress rehearsal. However, the last 2 times in the last 6 weeks, the service has been poor. Both times the order was wrong. The first time I was in the restaurant. The manager came over and gave discount coupons for future visits, explaining that they were short of staff. I'm not sure how that is my problem, but I listened. Tonight, I had carry out for a dinner party of 8. When I got home, I had half of the order as the gentleman who took the order misunderstood that I wanted a family "pack" when I ordered (as I always do fpr the last 10 yrs) family style for 8 people. The party tonight had to wait for an additional 45 minutes. The first part of the order was cold by the time the second part was ready. The young lady at the cash register apologized saying that this happens from time to time. I'm glad that the food is good. I hope that the service can improve.

Great food! I am not a big fan of beer but I tried one of their import beer and I like it! Too bad they ran out of ribs when I went there. I would come back again.

For an Italian place they may have the worst pasta sauce I have ever tasted (taste like chef boyardee). Fortunately the chicken was good and my wife enjoyed the steak and that redeemed the meal a little. Ok place to eat but STAY AWAY from anything with a tomato sauce.

Hubby and I ordered take out from Bernard's on 8/23/2014. We were impressed! We are total food snobs but were interested when we saw two sandwiches on the menu. I ordered the "Mac Daddy Melt" (mac and cheese with Italian beef on Texas toast) and hubby ordered the "Ballsagna" (meatball lasagna on a hoagie). It took longer on the phone that I would usually wait (was on hold for ~5 mins) but the food was to die for! And we had so much food. We have enough leftovers for tomorrow for lunch. Quick. Easy. Two huge sandwiches for $22. We will be back.

Ridiculous wait time for 2 kids grilled cheese and a tenderloin. I don't think that should take over an hour!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
