We discovered Del Carmen's East this evening, while looking for someplace open late. Boy, am I glad we did! The pizza here is great. Really thin, crisp crust. Nice sauce, and generous toppings, but not too much--just the right amount to keep the crust crisp. We also had their small side salads. Really good, basic salad with iceberg, onion, green pepper and cheese. Add a little combo of their ranch and French dressings, and it was so good! Oh, and I should mention, these great little side salads were just $1.75! They have a variety of sandwiches on the menu, but we didn't try any this time. The place is a little, neighborhood place. Nothing fancy, but comfortable. Eleven tables. The service was good, and it was obvious that everyone working enjoyed their job. I think that says a lot. They have stamp-cards. Buy 6 pizzas and get the 7th free. I think we'll be filling up that card!

Best pizza in Decatur hands down. Breadsticks good too. Recently remodeled and expanded seating helps to allow more people to enjoy the experience. Sauce is sweet and the double crust is the only way to go.

So with pizza my reviews are generally different than with fine dining. I am really only rating the pizza here, and I do it relative to what else you can get locally. I only take points away for non-food related aspects of the restaurant if they are REALLY bad, as in bad enough to detract from the food. Because lets face it, if you're outside of a major metro area, you're getting pizza for the taste, not for the ambiance. That said, Del Carmen's is awesome. I put it as tied with Filippo's pizza in Mt Zion. I have a hard time choosing. Easily the best in Decatur. The double crust is the way to go, get some extra sauce on the side for dipping if you like extra. The thin is popular but not my thing. Definitely a must have if you're in the area.

Thin crust pizza seems to be the route to go and Del Carmen serves up a good one. I was craving a good pizza, so I ignored all the chains and looked for a local pizza joint on Yelp. Yelp delivered with Del Carmen's Pizza East. As it was night, I really couldn't tell you what part of town this was located at but my guess it was near some of those big honking soy plants that dominate the Decatur sky line. Place is on a corner and looks older and rather modest, almost seedy. The restaurant has about a dozen tables but I get the feeling that take out is what Del Carmen is all about. Restaurant offers soda but no beer. Not sure what their BYO policy is. I ordered a medium sausage and mushroom. They said about 10 to 12 minutes and it took about that long. Pizza is classic thin crust, crunchy crust, the right about of cheese and lots of sausage. Mushrooms were chopped so they were almost unnoticeable. Sauce was sweet and hot, there was some spicy kick going on in there. All that for about 10 bucks and change. People were nice and friendly. Definitely worth a repeat performance. If they had served beer, I woulda given it another star. But you can't deny a traveling man his thirst.

The best pizza in town...by far! We are locals and always get the La Carmencita with black olives and usually on the double crust. They have thin crust pizza and a double crust is just 2 of them but with a layer of their sauce in between. The pizza sauce they use is to die for. Really it's the perfect sweet and savory. Also try their breadsticks! They are the softest breadsticks I have ever had! One word...delicious!

Absolute best pizza in town!!! I hate thin crust pizza but I LOVE this place. It has the best sauce in town. I order double sauce every time. Also epic cheesy bread. So so so good. One of the best ways to spend money in decatur.

Found this little gem as we were travelling home on Hwy 36 from Indiana. It is located right off of Hwy 36 (less than 1 block), so it is not even out of the way for the traveller. The pizza was great and so were the prices. Fed a family of 5 at lunch for under $30. 4 lunch pizza specials which included cheeze pizza (extra toppings 0.35c), salad, and drink for $5.50, and a full loaf of garlic cheeze bread approx $3. Pizza sauce was sweet which we all liked, sausage had a nice kick to it. I enjoyed my pizza so much I got an Italian Beef sandwich for the road. Served with au jus and loaded with meat...I thought it was a bargain @ $4.50. We'll stop there again if we go through Decatur.

I enjoyed Del Carmen Pizza East's pizza, as the crust was extremely thin and crisp, yet not very greasy. The topping ingredients were fresh and as one reviewer wrote, the pizza sauce is very good. It was not too heavy, nor too light and gave it overall a flavor that was not too bold to steal the taste away from the rest of the combination.

It's safe to say that we weren't so safe to say everything that we safely said in our previous review. Now it seems prudent to myself and others involved in the entire smorgasbord of events that ensued once upon a Thursday lunch to tell our story in the manner in which it truly happened. Here's the deal; Our five star reviewed changed to two stars. Now, don't get me wrong; I'm not the type of guy who takes jabs just to stab. But, myself and an elite food eatery group entered the del Carmen premisis for a free lunch that we obtained after many fine pizzas. We got our pizzas and the confusion began. The lunch was fine but afterwards we were called on the phone by a worker at Del Carmens to let us know that the order was processed incorrectly and that we still owed 15$. It became apparent that we were charged incorrectly and that our free dinner was attributed to the wrong pizza, thus breaking up our family feast deal and causing our six drinks to be charged separately, skyrocketing our bill. However, they also forgot to charge us for a pizza, which is why the call came later. It was mainly their mistake and there was a whole big stink and we ended up paying but it left a sour taste in our mouth (not literally). The foods good and we historically have considered this the best pizza in d-ville but we had a real bad experience this time.

Really good pizza- family of four- all enjoyed it! Tried the meat and the deluxe- both exactly what i want in a pizza- next time will try one of the double crust but this time was all thin crust. These folks don't skimp on toppings! Sauce is just a little on the sweet side- but was not too sweet.

Best pizza in Decatur! Love the double crust pizza, family sized salad. The cheese and sauce is just delicious. It's better to call in an order, otherwise plan to wait a long time, especially if it's a weekend night.

Awesome pizza! fresh, plentiful tasty ingredients. The thin crust is world class--qualifies as low carb ..Very short wait time ...7 mins from ordering to walking out the door
