Coney McKane's provided an interesting dining experience. I was going with a friend who had a dog. I had called earlier to ask if the outside dining area would allow dogs, and the Coney MacKane's staff member on the line said it would be all right. We arrive at the restaurant with the dog, and the staff at the front were hesitant when I told them we had a dog with us. They asked if there were already people eating outside... I'm thinking "isn't that something you're supposed to know?!", but I said "yes." Then they proceeded to tell me that they do not allow dogs if there are already customers eating in their patio. If this was an issue I really wished they would have been upfront when I had called earlier. Thank goodness for the great waitress that we ran into as we were heading out. She was able to accommodate us and the dog to eat outside even though other people were already there. Onto the food! I had ordered the JB Whiskey Burger, and it came out looking like a mess. The burger patties (not sure if it was just mine), but it wasn't round like a typical patty. It also falling apart before I could even bite into it. It didn't feel like anything special, and there wasn't much I could do to salvage this poorly put together meal. Both my friend and I left feeling as if we could have made what we had ordered on our own at home. Prices of the food was surprisingly cheaper than I would have imagined coming in, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Huge waste of money. $60 bill for horrible food and even worse service. Ordered wings, it was the best item we had. Pork chop took 40 mins and was over cooked, Reuben was poor quality meat, taco ""salad" was a small amount of lettuce on top of half a bag of store bought chips. Ordered pie because we were still hungry and got flavorless chocolate cream that was stale. The crust was good but that was it. Only came here because it was rated high. Trying to forget I made that mistake.

As soon as I walked in the door and saw the line it was clear this is the place to be in downtown Decatur. Lea offered me a seat at the bar and I was ready to roll. The waitress said they just opened this half of the restaurant and it was packed. The Southwest Turkey Club was super tasty. Homemade chips solid. Lea had me on the slice of pie when she said her Mom made it fresh every day. I told her if she could get some vanilla ice cream on it I was game. Blackberry pie. Yum! Thanks for the great food and hospitality. I'll be back for sure!!

After the other reviews I saw, I was expecting much better. Sorely disappointed. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. I make better grilled cheese at home. The cheese wasn't even melted. It must have been sitting in the window for a while because it had congealed. At least the soup was hot, but it was nothing to write home about. The only reason it got two stars was because the waitress was a sweetheart. I ordered the chocolate cake to go and shouldn't have. Yuck. Overall, I recommend one of the chain restaurants in town. Safer bet.

Good spot to have lunch. The service is friendly, there are lots of choices on the menu, and they have pie. My only criticism is the amount of chicken salad that comes on the sandwich, it's maybe two or three tablespoons on a croissant. Should definitely be more! Enjoy lunch on the patio while people watching on a nice day.

Have only been to Coney McKane's for breakfast but we had an awesome experience. We sat at the bar and had wonderful service from the very warm and friendly waitress. Wish I could remember her name but we had a nice conversation about living in Mt Zion :) Yes the restaurant is small but is that a reason to dock then a star on my review!? No! It's part of the charm and I prefer a cozy intimate place to dine over a cold cavernous room any day. The food we ordered was great, not a single thing I would change. The tough thing about my personal experience dining out in Decatur is with such a small population of independent restaurants you either get decent food OR decent service. A few places have shined for offering both (consistently at that!): Donnie's, The Beach House, Il Forno are just a few... Coney McKane's also deserves a spot on that list. We look forward to becoming regulars.

Took my parents and siblings here for dinner and we were all collectively pleased with everything. If you've never been here the employees applaud you when you enter. Their own little touch, very unique. The staff is hospitable, the food is great, and the place is very neatly decorated. A gem in downtown Decatur.

Am thankful to the wonderful staff for accommodating our group of 10 in your cozy restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive despite how busy he was. Good selection of food. Our large party ordered a variety of sandwiches and entrees and all were happy. Delicious dessert and coffee. Good option when dining in Decatur - would much rather eat here than any of the chain restaurants.

This place has a great atmosphere and great food. Upon entering you will be greeted with a round of applause and smiling faces. At first the clapping seems weird but as you sit and enjoy your meal odds are you will start clapping with everyone else the next time someone comes in. The food was great and the prices are very reasonable. This place may be small but it has a big personality. Give it a try.

This place is super small. Both the food and the service were just okay. Waitress couldn't crack a smile to save her life, and towards the end we had to wave her down to ask for the table to be cleared and for the bill. Don't bother going to Coney's Cookies just around the corner. The service there was even worse, the prices are crazy high, and the cookies aren't "consistent". I saw one cookie with barely any chocolate chips on top of another cookie of the same kind with WAY too many chocolate chips. Plus, they had maybe 4-5 cookies in each flavor, so because 4 of us wanted the same ones, they ran out. The lady had to keep going in the back to check for more. Really?! You're a cookie shop and you don't have more than 4-5 chocolate chip cookies lying around??? Then, I bought the same number of cookies as the friends I was with, but they all got nice boxes while mine were thrown into a small bag on top of each other. What a disappointment!

In town for a conference, saw good reviews, and decided to give it a try. Glad we did! Great local eatery with awesome food and friendly service. A little cozy, but if you can grab a seat, it's definitely worth a visit!

This place is so wonderful in so many aspects! My friends and I made the trek from Urbana one weekend just to experience it, and it was definitely worth it. This is a small family owned restaurant that has a very polished, yet home-y feel to it. Given the time of the year, there were even Christmas decorations everywhere, which is always a nice touch. Service is awesome. We entered the building and were greeted by applause, which my friend (who is actually the restaurant owner's daughter) explains has become a tradition whenever customers enter past 5 PM. Seating was prompt, and our waiter was very entertaining and attentive. It's evident that they value their customers and do a great job at making you feel welcome. The food was excellent. Lots of American classics to choose from like burgers, chili, and loaded fries (SOOOO good). I got the Philly Panilly Panini with chips. Hailing from the east coast myself, I've experienced plenty of similar versions, but this was great. Fries and chips were crispy and seasoned to perfection. Everyone enjoyed their meal - the portions were just right and not too expensive. All in all, a very satisfying experience. Go here if you want amazing food and a good time!

We came back for dinner service because we have been hearing good things about the food being fresh and made from scratch. We had the special which was chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. The meat was performed chopped meat from frozen, the potatoes were obviously instant and although the beans had a nice flavor, they were mushy and boiled out. I won't swear they were from a can and doctored up with bacon but they sure looked like it. The yellow gravy was poured on so thick it was overwhelming. Service was okay and the blackberry cobbler was the highlight of the meal. Dinner for two for $30. Could get a similar meal at a cafeteria for half.
