One evening a group of us found ourselves searching for a place to eat in De Kalb, so I went to the trusty Yelp reviews to find something that looked good. This restaurant had a high rating, so we decided to give it a try. Success! We were very pleased with the flavorful food, reasonable prices, and great service. Today we went back a second time, and were just as pleased. Our party of three had crab rangoon (with actual pieces of crab in the filling, not just flavoring), green curry, mango chicken, and a beef dish with thin noodles (don't recall the name). All were great, washed down with Thai Iced Tea and followed by Thai custard. Once again, the food was fresh and flavorful, the prices were lower than we would expect for the quality, and the service was just the right amount of attentitive and friendly. The menu boasts a large selection, and we will most certainly be back to try more of the choices. I wish the place were a little larger, though, as it was difficult to seat our party of six the first time.
Went back the other day and got the green curry fried rice with chicken. I think its my new favorite item on the menu! Also, the quantity was more than enough for 2-4 people. Would definitely recommend the green curry fried rice!
Hands-down, best Thai food in the DeKalb-area. I was a DeKalb resident for nearly a decade & visited or ordered take-out from the Thai Pavilion at least once, if not twice a month. I know there were periods of time when my Thai craving got so bad that I ordered from the Thai Pavilion at least once a week! Now when I return to visit friends & family in DeKalb I ALWAYS stop off for dinner at the Thai Pavilion. Easily the most flavorful, diverse & down-right tasty place to eat in DeKalb. My best friend loves their Thai Pepper Steak entree. If you like Pad Thai, I highly recommend the Bean Thread Pad Thai (the bean thread noodles are clear & a far more healthy alternative to the regular Pad Thai noodle.) I simply am addicted to the Bean Thread Pad Thai! I always ask for it to be made with no eggs, extra crushed peanuts & I choose tofu instead of meat (they will make almost anything on their menu with tofu or vegetables for all you vegetarians out there!) Another addiction... the Thai Pavilion's green curry. If you like spice, ask for it "Thai spicy." You will not be disappointed! I just had green curry at the Thai Pavilion last weekend for the first time in a long time, & it was simply incredible. Super-fresh veggies including FRESH FIGS. Not the dried, weird figs you're used to... but fresh, delicious figs. INCREDIBLE.

I give this place four stars for affordability and awesome deals. The meals typically include two tacos or a burrito with beans, rice, and a drink for about 5-7 dollars. WAAYY cheaper and way more delicious than any of it's other competition around DeKalb such as Burritoville and El Burrito Loco. You also get unlimited free chips and salsa when you dine in! However, I take away one star for having less-than-stellar horchata. I'd save a couple dollars and skip it if I were you.
This place is the best taco place I've ever been to. I'm from Chicago and went to school in DeKalb. I ate here multiple times a week for years. I could not get enough. I was a "regular" and the waitstaff knew my order almost always. I'd switch it up on them sometimes. You can not go wrong with their burritos, steak tacos, and enchiladas in green sauce. The enchiladas are my fav! You guys should be open late night. Unfortunately I moved out of DeKalb but I will be back just to eat here!
This is the only place to get Mexican food in dekalb. Great service, speedy cooking, and awesome prices. I've been going here for ten years now. Sure it might be a little rundown, but it's better than the other Mexican places in dekalb. Only downside is that it isn't open late!

Pita Pete’s

I love the menu and the food to the moon and back, which would generally warrant a 5-star review, but the caveat here is that the one employee who made our order was a straight up b-face. Yep. There really isn't a nicer way to say it. And I'd totally try to nice it up a bit if she were even remotely pleasant---hell, I'd even take mildly annoyed to neutral, but no. What we got was some of the coldest stares and rudest remarks I've ever encountered. Ever. youtube.com/watch?v=TCeu… There were 2 employees who were plenty friendly. The blonde girl who took our order was so sweet and welcoming and patient and the second employee, a guy who gave a courteous smile but appeared to be finishing up to take a break (understandable since we were on of only two tables in there at 5pm on Saturday afternoon), but the young girl who made our food --- nope. A f*ck was not going to be given by her that day, that's for sure. The ordering process isn't intuitive if you've never been there before. I got a seitan schwarma pita sandwich and my partner got a falafel. We paid (with the nice girl) and thought we were done. I didn't realize you do it up all Chipotle-style so I came back to the counter that my partner was still standing at and I could already see the girl rolling her eyes at me-- to my face, but I'm super hungry + I'd already paid so I did the only thing I could do and played out a scenario in my head where birds pecked out her eyes the way the the bible says they will if you roll your eyes. No. That's wrong. I did not do that. Only a mean person or Jesus, in this instance, would do that, but I was certainly peeved with her initial stance. I can see that she's going to go out of her way to be as unpleasant as possible. Maybe because she thinks it's punk rock, or the cool thing to do or whatever, but you know what, I have a weird hair color and a septum piercing too -- that doesn't make me too cool or the right to be a dick to people... especially to people who I'm specifically paid to not be a dick to. So my partner tells me I need to tell her what I want on my seitan schwarma sandwich, as she stands there putting all her effort into looking extra annoyed, as if we interrupted her. I look over the counter to see what ingredients are hiding behind the wall and there's about a million options, so I panic and just say, can you do a little of everything? What's good on it? She audibly groans and then follows it with a huff and puff and even my partner started to get scared so he turns to me and says to just pick a couple things on my own and be done. So I pick my toppings and at the end she asks me what sauce I want on it and I ask if there's a spicy sauce, ya know, there's usually a sriracha or red chili paste or something when there's Mediterranean fare involved, and she looks at me and says in the absolute snottiest voice ever 'Like, what do want? Like, hot sauce?' I confirm, and ask again that I want hot sauce, but since there's no visible list of sauces and I'm not fluent in telling what a sauce is when there's a dozen different red options inside plastic squirt tubes that all look the same, I have to ask again, what's the hottest sauce you have? She replies and says 'horseradish'. As if that's a comparable spice when someone is looking for something like sriracha. I say that definitely don't want that. Anything more like just a hot sauce? And she says they have a sauce called 'hot sauce'. No description. No nothing, but whatever - I'll take it. Thankfully it was something along the lines of Frank's Red Hot Sauce - which is one of the most delicious sauces ever - so I was happy, but she could have just said that to begin with and moved the process a little faster. When my partner went through the topping spiel he got the same brazenly rude attitude, even though he went out of his way to be nice to her, a courtesy that frankly, she wasn't even trying to deserve. When our food came up my partner and I each loved our sandwiches like they were our own children. I actually loved mine so much that I wanted to order another, especially after having seen the staff favorite combos on each of the napkin dispensers (wish they would have made that more visible when we walked in), but I didn't want to risk having to have another interaction with that girl at the counter. It just wasn't worth the stress. Our food and an Honest Tea (white peach, yo) came to $17 and some change + 20% tip that I left in good faith before the terrible, horrible, no-good, very, bad attitude girl came along. It was probably one of the best sandwiches I'd ever had in my life, even though it came with a surprise order of high-and-mighty. If I'm ever in Dekalb again I know I'll be heading back in here, but I'll make sure to request that not-the-crabby-patty make my pita. I came here because I wanted to eat a pita, not because I wanted to be treated like a PITA.
Pita Pete's is pretty good, but honestly it's a little expensive for what you get.

I love this place! It's my go-to for Mexican in town. I've never had a bad experience. The service is always quick and friendly. Plus they give lots of extra salsa without complaint (or an extra charge) if you ask for it. They're always really accommodating about substitutions or combinations so if you want something that's slightly different than the menu don;t be afraid to ask. I've had barbacoa/steak/chicken/carnitas in the forms of burritos, enchiladas, tostadas, tacos, etc. and it's all been great. You get a lot of food for the money so it's a great value.
Ok, so first off, I find it hilarious when people talk about this place and are unimpressed by the interior and the atmosphere. It is a taco place, plain and simple. That is it. Nothing more, nothing less. So live and let be. The food is great and prices are low. I have been there post-night of drinking and I have been there for a quick, casual dinner.
Great place to eat! Their food is of high quality and tastes amazing. Definitely recommended!
