There is an Ancient Chinese maxim, which translated into English says, "the further one strays from the Hipster Belt, the more one must suffer at the dinner table." Whitey's answer to the age-old "what's for dinner?" question is a bold refutation of this maxim. On my first trip to this ramshackle dive of a restaurant manned only by a soft-spoken man with a rugged Marine-like appearance, I ordered the salmon dinner. This is how one eats like a King on peasant's wages. The slightly charred salmon was so perfect, I swear it practically swam off the plate directly into my mouth. The only thing that kept me from wolfing it down like a wolf in bearskin clothing in Gap attire was the distraction of the deliciously salty garlic bread, and, most surprisingly, the fresh green beans (and I used to think green beans grew only in cans on the west side). Second visit, steak dinner with baked potato. Perfectly seasoned, that cow was not bad. Not bad at all. I may have to permanently change my definition of "walking distance" to accommodate more visits to this place.

Best damn food in the neighborhood. Stopped in this place after I found it on Yelp. I live a couple blocks away, but there's no sign so I missed it. Ordered the steak and salmon dinner. It was absolutely perfect. The steak was tender and juicy. The salmon was fresh and delicious. The fries and bread were good too. All for $10.95. Had a great experience. We'll definitely go back and try other menu items.

So I came to Whiteys to eat w my boyfriend, his sister and her boyfriend. The Food was delicious but while I was eating my boyfriend noticed a black and white hair on my fries, it was not human hair..looked like either cat or dog hair. But I continued eating my burger that I also ordered w my fries. Then my boyfriend noticed a long black and white hair on his sandwich. He picked it up an threw it on the floor and noticed a ton more of the same kind of hair! After that I was disgusted! We wanted to tell the owner and when we turned our head, we seen 2 Health inspectors walking into Whiteys. The health inspector told the owner to close the doors to not have anymore customers come in. I'm disgusted that there was so much animal hair in there! I hope there doors are closed FOR GOOD! so no one else has to go thru that!!!

They would get Zero stars if that were an option! Worst food/Customer service in this area! I ordered a steak dinner cooked medium. They killed it. It was completely well done (No pink meat at all) and super dry. The garlic bread was wet and there was so much salt that it was not edible. My daughter ordered a cheeseburger with a fried egg that they forgot to fry? It was raw on top and dripping slime. Her fries were burnt and steamed so they were floppy and wet with way too much salt on them so they could not be consumed. Her bun was soaking wet and the tomatoes on the burger were cooked (From the steam?) and were droopy and falling apart when she attempted to remove them...eww. So, we called GrubHub to complain since we ordered through them and they got us $20 of our money back as a credit at the restaurant. We were hesitant but hungry so we called to order more food (dumb idea) and the guy taking our order was arrogant and condescending from the start. So we honestly thought they might do bad things to our food and cancelled our order. Disgusting food prep and packaging was the worst. Beware people! $30 bucks in the garbage! Jerks.

I used to enjoy this place based just on the corn beef sandwiches. The past two times I've called for delivery, I heard sob stories about either the driver or cook. How can a place that's supposed to be open until 10:00 P.M. close at 8:30 on a Saturday night? Obviously, they want to put themselves out of business. This app needs a zero star rating. It sucks to have to give them one star. Actually it's ZERO stars. Avoid them like the plague!!!

By far the worst food I have ever ordered for delivery or ever and completely inedible. I ordered a steak meal medium, a burger with a fried egg and fries; which sounds simple for a with such a limited menu. The steak was a very dry well done instead of medium, my mixed vegetables were overcooked & disgusting, the garlic bread was soggy & pure salt. The fried egg for my burger was not cooked all the way; the top of the burger was slimy clear with some white. Needless to say but I did not eat it. The fries were burnt yet completely mush and pure salt tasting. Ordered through Grub Hub and they were wonderful in trying to help resolve the issues, but because we paid cash for the food the restaurant would only give a $20 credit. Since we were still hungry and didn't want to waste more money, we called the restaurant to order again. The guy working was arrogant, condescending and all around rude. I ended up cancelling the order. I don't want food poisoning, nor do I trust them to handle food. Never eat at this establishment.

I ordered a steak sandwich on french bread with fries. Good food. Friendly staff. The steak came out as ordered - medium well - brown on the outside, a tad pinkish on the inside, no blood. I had a choice between a bun or french bread. French bread here actually meant garlic bread. So I got a sirloin steak on two pieces of garlic bread! The fries were a surprise. I expected regular fried potato slices, the usual fry. What I ended up with were flavorful herbed fries. Needed a dash of salt, but otherwise a pleasant and tasty surprise. I saw a sign saying $1 for a scoop of ice cream. I didn't ask or get to try any though because it was way too cold for ice cream. The food was good. The man who took my order, Tony, was friendly and very helpful to a first-time visitor (me). They have 1/2 price burgers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 1/2 price steak sandwiches on Thursdays. So, I'll probably visit again on one of those days to try other items.

Best burgers! Work right around the corner and decided on a fluke to try them and we were pleasantly surprised by the hand packed, juicy, and huge burgers we got! The price for a burger and fries is with tax like 6.50 so its affordable and for the price its alot of food! Also tuesday and wednesday they run a special for 5 bucks for a burger and fries! My boss tried the chicken blt sandwich and it was wonderful and huge! TRY THEM!!!
