This is a very nice breakfast place. The food is very good and the service is fast. The wait staff is very friendly and reasonably efficient. I have been here several times. Every so often you might have to wait for 10-15 minutes for seating but that is not a bad wait. The food is almost always cooked exactly to order (only once were my over medium eggs over-cooked), and delicious. Parking in the lot is a bit limited but there is street parking available. As a breakfast place, it is very good. I can't guarantee a great experience, but I will say you wont have a bad one.

The pancake house is ingrained in my mind as an after church meal. After a years long absence my family and I went in on a Friday afternoon and without thinking I said "shit it's one a clock, we're never going to beat the church crowd." And they say Catholicism doesn't scar people for life. In 2009 writing a review of the food at the Pancake House is pretty pointless. Anecdotal evidence is the only purpose. Quality stuff.

The service cant be beat - I have eaten here over 100 times and dealt with many different waitors/waitresses and they are all very friendly and effecient. The food is always outstanding and will be on your table shortly after ordering no matter how packed the restaurant is. Outstanding Service & Food - what more can you ask for from a restaurant?!

Personally, I don't like this place. While the food is ok, the service is crap and just TRY getting a parking space EVER. Not worth the hassle, especially since their prices are getting outrageous.

STRAWBERRY WAFFLE. The waffle is three times the size of your face and the strawberry syrup is so good, I could swim in it. Save room for hashbrowns too. Oh god.

I'm so sad. This was my favorite breakfast place for years. YEARS. Keyword: was. The experience I had recently just solidified my decision to move on to other breakfast places. Service has always been slow. Waiting at this place is inevitable. But the last time I was there, the waiting times were obscene. I'm not talking about waiting for a table either (actually the breakfast house was half empty and people were still waiting for tables, probably because the restaurant is understaffed, but that's a whole other issue). Waiting to order, waiting for food, waiting for condiments, waiting for the bill. See a theme? For breakfast we were probably there for well over an hour (after grabbing a table). The waitress that we had has worked there for years. Honestly, I think she's just given up on the place. She was nonexistent pretty much the whole time we were there. Tracking down employees= not fun. The food this time was so overly greasy-it was pretty gross. I feel like I ate it just based on previous allegiances. Paying the bill took forever-even the cashier looked panic (someone was breathing down her neck for a take out order placed 30 minutes earlier that they couldn't find). Sigh. For the price of everything, you would expect things to come out much, much better. If you know me, you know how hard it is for me to write a review like this. It almost feels like a food betrayal. Unfortunately, I think the time has come to move on.

I had a long day ahead of me as I had my brought my car in for repairs early morning on 7/23/15. I was hungry along with wanting to get some exercise in on what was going to be a hot day. So I walked a mile to this establishment. I had been here before but felt like my experience was totally different because I sat in a totally different section which was nice and quiet along with being dimly lit and decided to be adventurous by trying a different item than I usually get when I go to this restaurant. I decided that based off the menu description of the peach crepes, it sounded like something that may be refreshing and good and it was! Fresh warm peach compote and the crepes were filled with peach pieces. I really really enjoyed them. The chicken sausage is always my favorite and if it doesn't sound like something you'd enjoy, think again! Wonderful flavor, I love 'em! What I really enjoyed is that I stayed in that establishment for hours, using my computer and reading my paper to just enjoy my time there while waiting on my car to be finished. My waitress was fine but I think she got off work while I was still there and I still got great service by another waitress waiting on patrons in my seating area. No one rushed me out, to which I appreciated. Thank you Original Pancake House, I appreciate your good service!

I don't know I'm just sitting down and they seated me pretty quick the issue I'm having is that everything seems to be extra. I basically ordered an omelette, hashbrowns and a side of sausage and I think this is going to be over $20 and it's just me no telling also about the serving portions.

I have a weakness for breakfast food and The Original Pancake House forces me to indulge at least once a month! The service is always with a smile, and the food is delicious. I usually order an omelette that comes with an order of pancakes. I'm set for the whole day after I eat here, because the food portions are so large! I love the cozy atmosphere and the coffee! If there was one thing I could change, it would be the prices. As I mentioned earlier, the food portions are large and the quality of the food is great, so I suppose it's worth the extra bucks.

I am a huge fan of pancakes and this place has good food, coffee and service. Not to mention, their pancakes are the BEST!!.

Finally went to The Original Pancake House after hearing about it from family members for years. While not the cheapest breakfast (seems most things are a la carte), the food was great. The service was good, and they really seem to be able to move people in and out. Would definitely recommend.

Wow 45 years this location has been churning out great food! I was lucky to go to this location w/cousin & girlfriend for breakfast while I was visiting Chicago. It was packed! Service was still great! 1 star Coffee hot and readily available! 1 star Food was as good as it gets! 1 star Cleanliness was great! 1 star Mood / Atmosphere was good! 1 star So my cousin orders this veggie omelete and all orders come w/3 pancakes, the omelete was the full size of his plate! Girlfriend orders Swedish pancakes the fruit spread was good, the pancakes were fluffy. I order 2eggs 2 sausage patties & I knew I was getting pancakes so my stomach was ready! The food was to my liking & what I ordered eggs over medium. pancakes were super fluffy & not dry! Can't wait to try the one in seattle! The back of the menu didnt even show this location that's how long they been open! 45 years they definitely doin something right!

Nothing says awesomeness like their bake apple pancakes. WOW! mmmmmmm!!! Seriously, these little crack-cakes could bring Osama bin Laden "out" of hiding! wow, they're good. This specific location is always crowded, so be careful if you're trying to park your car in the tiny lot. Service is lacking, but I can't blame the servers, as there weren't enough servers on the floor (I blame management). All in all, I'll be back!

BEST breakfast place! IHOP does NOT compare lol. Very packed, especially on Sundays- prepare to wait, but well worth it. Delicous food- I love the crepes, apple pancakes and coffee.

Strawberry pancakes; the only way to fly. The food is really good, I just hate their parking lot and how slow they are to get you to a table. Food-5 Stars, everything else-2 stars. Caution: Their coffee is battery acid, stop somewhere else on the way and bring it in with you.

The food omg is awesome pancakes are soft and fluffy in the right way...I personally hated pancakes until my sister bet that I would love the pancakes so I tried them and I'm hooked I have been going every week since Oct 2010....I never thought I would b a breakfast person... Although their service is horrible and some what unprofessional they also forget that when they give u your food then your check that u still have to finish your meal and need refills on your drinks......

Somewhat standard diner-ish breakfast only food, with an emphasis on pancakes of course. 3 star average atmosphere, service, and food in general... They have a wide selection of pancakes... My curiosity caused me to order the Dutch Garden with mushrooms and broccoli and other stuff in it. This was great... The Dutch baby is a pancake batter poured into a bowl and oven baked with various toppings... Kind of like an omelette meets pancake. It was worth having again. While the quality of ingredients was probably your average high-corn everything, the OJ was "fresh squeezed" ... One of the only options in Beverly for a decent breakfast/brunch. $85 for 5 adults, 1 kid. 3.5 to be more fair...

Awesome Food - Awesome Service - What's not to LOVE about this place! My daughter loves the chocolate chip waffles, says they are the BEST. I cannot get enough of the bacon! If you love bacon you will not be disappointed. The staff is always super friendly and very attentive. Looking forward to another trip there this weekend!

Amazing breakfast after partying in Chicago for the Dead shows, whew I needed that. I ordered the eggs Benedict which was flavorful and used quality wholesome products. The dish was served with potato pancakes, MMMMM! The best part about the meal was the fresh squeezed orange juice. It was pricey, for 5 of us we spent $100, but I will stop on my way to Chicago every time. A little ways off the road but totally worth it. Lastly, our service was incredible. Thank you!

I went to this location on a Monday, around 11:15 am, I was seated and waited and waited for a waitress to come and take my order. I observed that 4 other tables that were seated after me were served before me, and one of the tables had finished their meal and left the restaurant by the time my food arrived. The service I received was slow and sloppy. The food was OK and hot, but one of the ingredients in my omelet was omitted. I will not patronize this business again, they are just too disorganized and slow!!

CHECK HOURS ONLINE! DIFFERENT FROM WHAT'S POSTED ON THE DOOR. I no longer count the years I've been coming here. We love, love, the food! I typically stick to my normal meal, a 2x4 with pecans, strawberries and whipped cream. Mmmm. The service is good, except today when the waitress gave me the receipt and said there is no rush. About 10 minutes later, the cashier comes to ask for our money because she wanted to close out her register. According to my time, they weren't supposed to close for another 35 minutes, and that is extremely rude. Like I said before, LOVE, LOVE THE FOOD!

Omg! The Dutch Fruit bowl is amazing! I am also addicted to the French toast and the thick cut BACON!!!

They really should offer meals that include the waffles! Not every one eats pancakes! They won't even let you substitute them in place of the pancakes! Should have driven a few miles over to ihop! At least they are a bit more flexible with your preferences. I am giving 2 stars because the hot chocolate was great!

As soon as we walked in I knew it would be trash... the carpet was soaked in filth and there were 3 women gossiping at the front counter... of course no one said hello. So we sit down and see a waiter come back and forth to the table next to us. Ignores us in the process. Cool. So we decide to leave cus we didn't get any water or attention. Empty, atrocious restaurant with lazy gossiping employees. Good luck surviving as a business...

I was hoping for more after seeing 4 stars on yelp. The waitress was very nice, good service. Food though - MEH. I had the eggs benedict...and it was very very average... and the sauce was really kind of - thick and well, not that great. I think our party's overall experience with food quality was 'disappointed'.

The food and service was nice. I had the Pecan Waffle very tasty! The place was not crowded and we were seated very quickly!

For the past 30-years, The Original Pancake House has been a "must stop" spot for our family when going to brunch in Beverly. The service is always prompt and the waitstaff is very friendly. The coffee is outstanding, and though we all like different menu options, everyone leaves happy.

To be honest, the service in this place has always been horrible. I don't think I ever had a meal where I've been able to get more than two cups of coffee. It seems like the staff is pushing you out before you've even finished your meal. Typically, I would believe that they want to turn over the tables quickly on the weekends, but this has happen during the weekday as well. The food is average and nothing spectacular. The reason I go here is mainly based on the location. Other than that, it's just okay quality-wise.

They consider fried salami a breakfast meat. Which pretty much makes them the shit, right off the bat. Sourdough pancakes - thin, huge, almost gooey in the middle...ohhh.... Decor - Kind of like how Kathy Bates' house looked in "Misery." It's all just all around awesome. And the menus charmingly look at least 40 years old, sometimes with syrup on them. Actually, most likely with some syrup on them. And like with all of the Original Pancake Houses, every single one seems to have a totally different menu than every other one. But they so kind of stick it to you, cause you have to buy the meat in addition to the pancakes. But it is seriously all so good, so you will buy it and you will love it. Breakfast for two, with two plates of pancakes, two extra meaty things and coffee is always just over $20. And totally worth it. And the waitresses are nice. But don't even think about trying to come here Sunday morning unless you have some serious patience.

first of all the staff are not friendly whether if it's crowded or not. however none of the staff smile, also me and my 2 children were waiting at the table literally 20 minutes before a waitress came to take our order. i ordered a vegetarian omelette when i cut into it to take my first bite, as i was chewing, i immediately started to notice that something in my mouth was'nt right. i spit the food into a napkin to observe the sharp object in my mouth and it was a piece of glass. i'm 6 months pregnant what if, i did'nt notice something strange in my mouth as chewing, i could've had some serious cpmplications. i immediately flagged down the waitress to inform her of what's going on with the breakfast. i showed her what was in my omelette as well as ended up in my mouth, she picked up the little piece of glass and said let me get a manager ok. however it took the manager literally 30 minutes to come to my table and address this situation terrible. luckly i'm not a dramatic ignorant type of woman or else that could have been on the news and i'm pregnant. when the manager finally came she plainly said, i'm sorry for your wait and for the glass being in your omelette, i won't charge you anything ,i'm sorry. my point is it's definitely not money the situation was not handled appropiately point blank period. i would'nt recommend a homeless starving person to have breakfast at this place unprofessional as well as careless sloppycooks that rush food orders! this took place on 05/25/2012

I went here after Toy for Tots in 2007. I had a great experience. The food was well priced and came in unbelievable proportions. You must have the baked apple pancake. The service was very fast even though the place was packed with families. Regulars and newbies seemed to get ample amounts of attention. Great all around.

My wife brought me here (my favorite restaurant) for Father's Day. We ordered 49'er Flapjacks, a cheese omelette and, of course, buttermilk pancakes. It should be against the law for pancakes to taste this good. Great Day In The Morning!!!! I was so happy when I left the pancake house, in fact, I just had to get up and leave or I would have kept ordering more pancakes. The breakfast here is on a completely different level of delicious. Our waitress was very nice, the food came out super fast and everything was piping hot and fresh. *Update* The portion sizes have decreased, especially the size of the pancakes, (trust me, I watch that like a hawk), while the prices have increased. Please don't do that OPH. The prices don't bother me as much as the portion sizes. Don't get greedy. You have a great thing going.

You cannot go wrong with any breakfast item here. Our absolute favorite spot on the south side. Everyone is so welcoming, it feels like your family inviting you in for a weekend brunch. Get: strawberry pancakes with a hot coffee and side of bacon. Their bacon game is on point - crispy and always perfect. Good to know: bathrooms do not have changing tables and you will wait on Saturday and Sunday mornings, though they are prompt at turning tables around. Overall: amazing breakfast for amazing prices. Fresh ingredients, killer coffee. A must try.

Went on Sunday after church. Food was fast and good. Pancakes are nice and fluffy! Server could have been a bit more attentive but otherwise I would go again. Definitely will need to get there early on Sunday though. There was quite a line as we were heading out.

Nice pancake house not far from where I live. The Baked Apple Pancake was HUGE and so succulent- almost sinful! Wasn't too impressed with the sausage but I guess you don't come here for that. Clearly the pancakes are where it's at! The OPH isn't the cheapest place in the world either. Although huge, the Baked Apple Pancaked ran me around 10 bucks. Two medium sized glasses of grapefruit juice also cost me $10. Overall, this was a good place to visit seeing that it was right up the street from my residence- just a lil pricey. Will I be back? Maybe.

On point every time. This is the best OPH location. Their bacon is perfect. Love the Dutch baby!

It's usually crowded, but come on, ya gotta go. The pancakes are thick and fluffy. Waffles are delicious as well. Other than Ridge Country Club, I haven't had a better breakfast in the area. The price was reasonable; it's more than Denny's or some other such place, but I would pay even more for the quality of food at OHOP. Also, unlike many Beverly attractions, the crowd is diverse. PS: Never say these words while in OHOP--or anywhere else: "Kanda. Estrata. Amantos. Ilres. Lagt. Nousferatus. Kanda. Amantos. Kanda."
