Cheap, delicious, and decent delivery service Highly recommended I would order until my conscious decides to start a diet

The pizza from here is pretty bland, but not bad if you just need to have pizza and it's down the street from my house. I'm looking for more flavorful pizza options around me.

We stopped in for a slice since the smell outside was irresistible. $2.50 for a slice of cheese served hot (but not too hot!) The staff was nice and quick, and the place was clean. I'd go back again.

They made me an offer I couldn't refuse! I have lived here in Uptown for the past 8 years now and I have lost count how many times I had walked by The Godfather's Pizza place, That aroma that would follow me down the street for about a whole block, pretty much drove me nuts every time! Ah, that aroma, it's enough to drive you mad, but in only the best of ways because when this place starts baking up their pizza's it's one of the best smells in the world.. Now, honestly, I don't eat pizza very much anymore, but when I do you'd better know it's not going to be a Totino's.. And, yes, yesterday I was craving pizza and I was sitting in my apartment contemplating where to go for this craving.. Now, since I stalk Groupon on a daily basis, I couldn't believe what I found, A $25.00 Groupon for $12.00 at The Godfather's! So I secured myself this sweet little deal and I walked over the 2 Blocks to Wilson and Malden and I went inside and ordered. Let me also say that The Godfather's has the nicest people who work there, The Woman behind the counter has been there forever and she Rocks.. truly! And, just so you know this place is very small, It has about 3 small tables inside, I'm pretty sure their main business comes from carry outs and deliveries. And, they have daily specials and a great variety of items on their menu, something for everyone! They don't open until 3pm daily but on the weekends they do stay open until 2am.. And for the record, their thin crust pizzas are pretty near perfection, just the right amount of ingredients, good sauce. nice chewy/thin crust! Pasta dishes are excellent as well! So, do yourself a favor and take $12.00 and go buy this deal for the Godfather's.. It may be small on the inside but it's big where it counts.. Big on quality, flavor and service.. Can't really ask for more than that...

OK - I almost had to laugh here. I order a baked potato with sour cream and brocolli. It costs over $5 so you think it has to be a big potato with a generous amount of sides. It was a very average size potato and had a teeny tiny container of sour cream on the side. But the brocolli - it was $1.55 extra - it was a super small container - maybe 3 inches across by 3 inches deep. I could have bought an entire bag of frozen brocolli.

Ordered the thin crust, it was pretty fantastic. Delivery was extremely fast, food was still pipping hot. Sauce was great, ingredients were fresh. New favorite neighborhood delivery spot.

Dropped by on an expiring Groupon this evening; better than I would have expected. The pan pizza (tried the Pan Pizza #3, 10") had a great crust and tasty cheese, but the toppings left a lot to be desired. Like most places, when you order 3-4 ingredients but only one of them is meat, it's pretty funny how often you get a ton of the veggie ingredients instead of the sausage or the pepperoni. That's an easy fix with future orders. The pint of chocolate gelato was store-bought and did the job for a very fair price; the mozzarella sticks were right out of the freezer, but they were served hot and greasy with a side of hot marinara sauce that I was a fan of. The huge patio outside and BYO made for a nice dinner tonight with perfect al fresco weather, so I can't really complain too much. Not sure I would go back, only because I love about five miles away and there's a ton of pizza between my place and the Godfather's. But, for a Groupon deal, this was pretty solid!

Guy on the phone was friendly. Pizza was made quick. We used a Groupon and ordered a 12 inch pizza with salami and black olives. Pizza was odd tasting. I would get a different kind of pizza maybe sausage. The salami just does not taste right in a pizza. We also ordered the seven piece chicken wing dinner the wings were very good and it came with bread ,macaroni salad and fries. I do recommend the wing dinner. I also had a cannoli which was good.

I wasn't wowed by the pizza whatsoever. The crust was quite thick for a thin crust. The ingredients tasted average and were buried underneath the processed cheese. Also, if delivery, pizza arrives in bag not a box. Not as easy to store.

Ordered from here on a Monday evening using a Groupon deal they had. Got a 12" #1 with pepperoni added, as well as a deluxe Italian beef sandwich (came with fries) with mozzarella cheese added. I'll start with the sandwich. It was a good size and a good amount of beef. The bread was just ok, nothing fancy about it or any special taste. Overall it was way too plain. No grilled onions, peppers, or "dipped" option. The cheese was an added cost for a small fee. The fries that came with it weren't anything special either. Overall I wasn't thrilled with it but it was decent. The pizza wasn't very good in my opinion. It's hard to make a bad pizza so of course it hit the spot, but so would've a frozen pizza. Decent amount of toppings but the toppings weren't very tasty. Digornio frozen pizza has better quality than this. The crust was hard and bland. The sauce was almost non existent and too pasty. The cheese was ok I'd say. Overall I wouldn't go here again, even with the Groupon which is rare for me to say since it was a decent deal with it. Lots of better options out there.

Ordered for delivery. They showed up very close to being late. Pizza was a torture device. Mostly torturous because everything was good, but the crust. As for the crust, it was mostly raw. Only browned on the edges. Soup in a bread bowl. Do not recommend.

Ordered a pizza from here last night.....OMG....AMAZING!!!!!! Sausage/Pep. Pizza (X-TRA THIN CRUST).....My only regret is not getting a bigger pizza. However, I think the family may be on board for pizza again tonight :) I woke up thinking about this pizza!!!!!! It was DELISH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good drunk pizza by the slice. If you want pizza to fill your belly after a night of drinking or for a party-I'd go here. Better than some of the by the slice joints I've had. Very very decent. Not greasy, cheap, and quick. Good drunk pizza-if you are in stumbling distance.

Since moving to the Uptown neighborhood, I figured I would support a local pizza company before opting for a chain or a pizzeria a bit farther away. This location always looked a bit sketch, but the aroma blowing from the kitchen always smelled delicious. My partner took the plunge and ordered from here a Thin Crust Contract #1 Pizza (sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onion). The pizza was quite decent and is really thin-crust as I prefer. They also make pizza in the pan, and stuffed/puffed pizza (which takes 50 minutes to cook). They have a good variety of items: every fried appetizer you can think of, American staples (french fries, corn dog, corn on the cob, baked potato with sour cream), salads, sandwiches (you can get anything cheezy), pasta, BBQ, fish, and chicken. Their pizzas come in various "international creations" (e.g. North of the Border, Tex-Mex, Hawaiian, The British, New Orleans). A few perks is that they have late hours being open past midnight every day of the week. You can always find a coupon on their website, or order online through eat24.com . They do have a minimum order of $15 for deliveries and charge $2.50. During the summer you can't miss their outside patio with blinking lights. Check it out.

This is garbage food. They offer extra trans-fat and shame as pizza toppings. (I once got a free slice, though!)

Just had the worse pizza ever! We were ordering dinner to celebrate the birth of a new family member at St Joseph hospital and the nurse suggested your restaurant. BIG MISTAKE! The pizza tasted like lighter fluid. We couldn't even finish eating it. Called to complain and the manager said it probably tastes like that because we're eating it at a hospital. Huh??? Did not give us an apology or a refund. We told the hospital what happened and they were surprised at your lack of response. Told them they need to reconsider ever ordering from you again! Thanks to you I am going to bed nauseas.

Just met my match, at the ripe old age of 29. This magnificent Godfather's stuffed 12" pizza came in like a cheesy wrecking ball, and delivered an effortless TKO in one, yes ONE slice. My colon says to tell you, if we don't make it until morning, that you were always my favorite...Final score: an unheard-of perfect 5 stars for the za, 3.5 stars for the rib tips, and 2.5 for the chicken nuggets. I would take another swing at it, (the box is mere yards away, taunting me with delicious smells and an oozing, glistening torrent of melted mozzarella) but I literally, physically, can not sit up. Well-played, Godfather's, well-played!

  • Desiree S.

The pizza was ok. The wings were not very good. I would not go out of my way to get this pizza, but I would not turn away if it was readily accessible. The lady who took my order was really nice though!

  • John S.

Got a pizza and breadsticks and carozza bread. The bread and breadsticks were just a sub sandwich bread with cheese on it. Could of made at home. The only difference was the other had sauce on it. Very very disappointed. Pizza was a lot better but kinda soggy lots of cheese. Probably won't go back due to being deceived.

  • Franz K.

Decent pizza. Nothing special and not bad. A little over priced but open late and convenient enough for me not to care. Would defiantly come here much more often if the customer service was nicer. I feel as though my buisness is not wanted every time I come.

Delivery on a friday night was speedy, the man on the phone and the delivery guy were nice. However, they delivered my pizza in a paper bag . . . my cheese and toppings were stuck to the paper (so no longer on the pizza). Pretty messy. Also, their thin crust is almost 2x thicker than most thin crust pizzas I've had. Maybe you'd like that. I didn't - just too much, and more than I was expecting for a Chicago thin crust. If you're a huge fan of sauce on your pizza, you might ask them for extra. Mine was pretty bare. This was my first time ordering from here.

I used a groupon here, and it was definitely worth the $40. There was an insane amount of food for a great price, and the staff was extremely friendly.

  • Joe S.

I had a Groupon so I ordered the largest sized pizza with two toppings and a chicken parmesan thinking I would have food for three or four days. Big mistake. The pizza was disgusting. It had a very thick, chewy crust that tasted undercooked and very little cheese on top. I previously thought Domino's had the worst pizza in the country but Godfather's beat them by a wide margin. I ate three pieces of my huge pizza, felt like I might throw up and tossed the rest out. The chicken parmesan wasn't any better--there seemed to be a pound of weird tasting mozzarella on top but none whatsoever in the pasta. The pasta was a soggy and overcooked mush and there was virtually no marinara sauce. The chicken tasted weird and was way too soft. I ate about half of this, threw the rest out and then spent over an hour trying to find something that would get the gross taste out of my mouth. I never would have imagined that a Chicago neighborhood pizzeria could possibly be this bad but Godfather's Famous Pizza is the worst. If I had bought a frozen pizza and a Stouffer's chicken parmesan that would have been a hundred times better than Godfather's.

I really enjoy this spot in my neighborhood. Delivery is always quick or you can walk right up to grab a slice in about 3 minutes and your on your way to the red line. Pizza is great.

I will never order from them again. I placed my order at 12:30 al thru grubhub. I got an email saying my delivery was en route w an eta. Never showed. Called grubhub twice and they offered no solution except a refund and $5 credit. Plus my refund wont post for two days. Its now 3:10 am and im starving...i pray my next order shows up. Calling them tomorrow for a formal complaint as well!

  • Matt S.

if you want good food fast. order from here. if youre expecting someone to be nice and say thank you...order from here....but pick up. every delivery driver ive had from here has been rude and i have never ONCE heard a thank you even after tipping very well from my original order on GrubHub. BUT every single time i go in to pick up my order the two women i have encountered over and over have been more than friendly and nice and those two (more than anything else) are the reasons i continue to order from there. the management needs to tell their drivers that their attitudes affect whether or not i will order (and tip).

In my infinite wisdom, I checked the reviews just AFTER placing my pizza order. Many complained of slow, inaccurate food delivery, and rude service. This especially scared me since the guy on the phone asked if I wanted to add the tip over the phone as mine was the final order for before closing. CRAP! Now I've ordered, paid, and tipped the guy, and am now reading a plethora of one and two-star reviews to whet my appetite. Did the cook finally get it right? Maybe low expectations improved the taste? Perhaps the delivery guy just forgot to screw me? As it turns out, Godfathers delivered me a very decent Special #3 (mushroom, green peppers, p'roni & sausage). I liked it. It was hot, tasty, and got to me in about an hour. The guy on the phone was somewhat curt, but I was starving so I wasn't mad at his lack of small talk. He got me a good pizza, at an ungodly hour, on time. What else could I ask for. 4 stars.

  • Peter A.

The thin crust is good, even tasty. For local pizza it's a great spot, especially for pick up. I haven't done the other style pizza.... Delivery is inconsistent, as they have forgot items multiple times. A-OK gets right to the point. Decent delivery chi thin...don't expect much else.

I don't understand the negative reviews. My old roommates and I have been ordering godfather's pizza since 1991. It is as good today as when I first tried it 22 years ago. They also deliver late. Excellent thin crust pizza.

  • Becca M.

I live right around the corner from Godfather's & this is my quick go-to-fix for Italian beef :) I usually get the italian beef dipped w/ hot peppers. It is pretty tasty! The only reason why I like it is because it's always piping hot and I really like the sport peppers they use instead of the original giardiniera peppers. It makes it taste less oily! I tried their thin crust pizza & I'm definitely staying away from that. Their hot dog was also way overdone when I had it once. Definitely recommend it if you want a decent Italian beef & you're nearby. It's not really worth going out of your way for it b/c we live in the city who invented Italian beef (I LOVE THAT!).

I liked this pizza pie ALOT, but the lady friend thought it was just "ok". I think I have found my go to place around the area for now, taking place of Chi Pie. Until next time...

I live right by this place. It is awful. The food is tasteless and the worst part is the last time I was there waiting to place an order I happened to look down at the floor to see two cockroaches making out. Never ever ever going back. Go to gigios it's 1000 times better.

HANDS DOWN BEST PIZZA IN CHICAGO. I live and die by this place. Granted delivery to Lakeview averages 1 hour, it is well worth the wait. Their think crust pizza is unbelievable and combined with the price and size you cant go better on the Northside. Besides the pizza they have an extensive menu which includes almost everything, and I mean everything. I like to play this game with my friends where we wager our meal on whether or not they have an item without looking at the menu. I almost always win because Godfathers has everything! If you are not in the mood for pizza, their chicken is absolutely mouthwatering. Their broasted is good, but if you really want to get your taste buds going you would order the BBQ. I have had 2 problems with them ever: -They didnt hear my address and phone number correctly and they never delivered my food, when I called they were not apologetic at all and didnt offer any kind of discount -They switch my orders once with another order which made delivery time over 2 hours and all they offered me was a 6-pack of RC cola. Overall this is my go to for pizza in the city of Chicago and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Okay...Godfather's Famous Pizza loves to full my mailbox with flyer's advertising their famous pizza and finally I decided to give in and order one of their so called famous pizzas. Huge mistake. First of all, it took an hour and half to arrive, mind you I live two blocks away. Big mistake. Secondly, the pizza was a hot mess. It looked like it was dropped from the top of of their building. Last, I still had hope it was edible and flavorful, which would trump all the negatives. I was of course let down. The pizza was so dry we managed to only eat a slice and then proceeded to throw the rest away. In conclusion, Godfather's Famous Pizza owes me $15. I'll take that in cash or money order form. Thanks Kito

They have a motto-the Pizza you cant refuse.Well, I refuse to order from there again. As for the people that say this place is good, they must work there, own part of it,or are having their friends give positive reviews because this place SUCKS. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review. But this place hit the big suck on almost every count. The only good thing was it took them 45 minutes to deliver. I have been reading the reviews for months and was very afraid to order from this place-then I saw a string of "good" reviews. I still had a bad feeling before I ordered and it turned out the feeling was right. Pizza: Tasteless toppings. Sauce had a fish taste to it! Do they use the same utensils to make pizza and fish?!!! Crust was brittle like the dough mix was old or something. Cheese was not fresh at all. I still have heartburn from this crap almost 24 hours after I ate it! I will NEVER order from here again and I suggest you do not either.

Just FYI delivery guys of Godfather's - your persistence in leaving your menus on my doorstep finally paid off. I was in the mood for pizza and since the menu had not made it to my garabge yet, Godfather's pizza it was last night! Also got the cheese sticks, which were nothing to write home about, but the sauce was. It was sweet and delicious! The pizza was pretty good and once again had that sweet sauce on it. The crust had just the right amount of crisp and a slight buttery taste. I'll be keeping them in my pizza delivery rotation. Or pizza pick-up rotation. It's nice they are only a few blocks away, so bonus no delivery fee!

I ordered food to be delivered from Godfather's and was told it would take about an hour. After an hour the delivery driver called because he needed directions to our apartment- which is directly off of a major street. When he finally arrived and we opened up our food, it was cold, soggy and actually wet. The "chicken parm sandwich" was actually a chicken patty (clearly from a box) which was, quite literally, just defrosted and cut in half. Too bad, had their pizza one and it was pretty good.

  • Angel S.

I am surprised by the number of haters that have posted here, is it possible that you just need to reassess your expectations of a $3 slice of pizza at 2 a.m.? There is absolutely nothing gourmet about this place, but they don't pretend like they are. The menu is filled with fried deliciousness (pizza puffs, mozzarella sticks, etc) and a walk-up window for late night service. The first time I stumbled upon Godfather's was in 2007 and I'll admit it was a little undercooked and not really to my liking, but now I just ask for it crispy and it suites me just fine! If you are looking for quick, cheap post bar food, this fills the void for a midnight snack.

How their Pizza became Godfather's "Famous" Pizza is beyond me. One night I ordered the Special Contract #2 Pizza ( I have no idea why it is called that) but it was a cheese pizza consisting of green peppers, onions and mushrooms and the eight piece jalapeño poppers too. Both arrived in the said time and both were luke warm, not hot or even warm. The poppers were bland with little heat and came with a mini cup of sour cream. Not ranch or something under those lines, but sour cream. I quickly went for the pizza hoping it was going to be something better. To my dismay it was even worse. From the flavorless crust, low quality globs of cheese, old crusty vegetables and a bland pizza sauce, it was a great disappointment. I was really hoping for something better. What made Godfather's Pizza "Famous", made a Nonbeliever out of me.

Simply put this place sucks! I ordered the rib and chicken combo and carrot cake. Wanted something different. I placed my order at 5:51. At 6:45 the driver called and asked me what my address was. I figured he would take an hour to get to me, which isn't bad on a Saturday night. At 7:15 still no driver. I called the place to check on my delivery and they told me the driver was lost and would be here in 2 minutes. I called back at 7:34, and was told the driver is 2 minutes away. At 7:41 he finally decided to show up with an incorrect order. The food was cold and I will not even discuss how greasy and disgusting it was. I noticed they forgot my carrot cake, so I called to ask for a credit, and the woman told me she would bring it back. I told her just to credit me. An hour later, my door bell rings and it is the delivery guy with the cake. I opened the cake and guess what it was........Banana cake. At this point I could do nothing more than laugh. I will never order from here again. Besides sucky delivery, inaccurate orders, and greasy food, it is not worth the aggravation.

First, the food. The pizza here is not good. even when drunk it is barely passable. The crust and pie itself is always really dry.. they must pre-bake this stuff and leave it under lamps. Pizza puffs are always oversaturated in grease. Godfathers, here is a tip: turn up the heat on your fryers and the puffs won't absorb so much oil. The italian beef was probably the best thing I've had here, and that says very little. Also, this place lets people just 'chill' in their main area and watch tv all night until they close. I'm fairly certain that these people are not customers, as I've come in, placed an order, waited the 20 minutes for it to be ready, and not seen a single person eat anything or take off their jackets. Oh and when I went back an hour later to pickup something else for an unexpected addition to the group, same people, same spots, still no food.

Now this is what I'm talking about. My folks come from Michigan for pizza like this. This is the "real" chicago style pizza. Great thin crust, great cheese, and generous toppings, cut into squares. The sause is on the sweet side, but it was great. This is going to be my go-to pizza joint in the new neighborhood. I can't complain about anything with this place. The "thugish" or "scary" people add to the charm. Chicago happens to be "the city". You can get scared by a mentally ill person in Uptown or you can get mugged in Wrigleyville.

2 1/5 Stars.... This time the pizza was much better, less crust, more sauce and it was hot. So, they did improved and I felt I should give an update.

  • Andrew K.

Godfathers has some of the most mediocre pizza I have ever had. It's just not good, by any stretch of the imagination. If you are looking for a place to go for dinner, do not go there. The slices are of reasonable size, but rather poor quality. You're better off going to Jewel and getting a Tombstone Frozen Pizza. So. When do you go to Godfathers? You are drunk, and just getting back from the bars. It's not after 12:30 on a weekday, or 1:30 on a Saturday night, are hungry, and don't wanna drop the money on delivery from somewhere better. You're working a late shift, its on your way home, and you don't want to cook. If you order the fries, use the salt package they give you, or take it home and add your own.

  • Cameron H.

Overall, it was good. I have had better pizza but the sauce was tasty and the crust was very thin. From there, I also ordered broasted chicken which had a delicious sauce. I would order from there again.

The sauce and cheese were good. The crust however was horrible. Almost as if it was bought frozen and they just put sauce, cheese, and toppings on it. NOT good!

Just got my food from here. As everyone else noted, super late. 20-30 minutes after you say the food will be done? Which is an hour after we order? Not cool. But whatever. The food shows up finally, so it's all good, right? No. My friend and I had ordered a garden salad, a 10" cheese pan pizza, a lemon Italian ice, and a 6-pack of 7-Up. We also ended up adding a free 6-pack AND 1 liter of RC to our order (*shrug*, GrubHub deals). We didn't get ANY of the drinks we were supposed to get, OR the Italian ice (which irks me to no end because I have the flu and was REALLY looking forward to that to make my throat feel better), AND they gave us a thin crust sausage pizza instead of a cheese pan pizza (not sure what the hell size it is, but it's bigger than 10", so I guess that's a plus, at least?). And of course the delivery driver didn't call us, so we didn't have a number to call him back at when we realized we had the wrong order and were missing half of what we were supposed to have. I'm calling this place as soon as I wake up in the morning to complain, and they had better send me a damn Italian ice, for free, to make up for it. And some pop. I don't think I will ever find a reason to order from this place again. Edit: Oh, yeah, I had ordered some mostaccioli in meat sauce from this place about a week or so ago, and it was pretty mediocre for costing over $8. I didn't finish it, but it was so meh that I didn't even want to eat it for leftovers. That alone wouldn't have been a deal-breaker, though. This? This definitely is.

If I could give 0 stars, I just might. This was, bar far, the worst pizza I've ever eaten. Like eating raw dough, tomato paste and greasy cheese. Took one bite and couldn't take another. Needless to say, I don't plan on giving it another try.

  • Ariane M.

Wow, I am surprised about the negative reviews due to their delivery service but that still won't stop me from ordering their awesome delish pizza! relocating from the southwest side, I was not too familiar with the uptown neighborhood, so I was super ecstatic when I found out that there was an authentic pizza spot was just a block up from me. I always order the 10inch sausage and cheese pizza, sometimes the just an italian ice. this is by far my fave restaraunt so far, plus they have some pretty good and I can't forget, their combos are the bomb.com !

What the hell was I thinking?! Avoid all late night, jet-lag-induced GrubHub.com surf-a-thons.

ok, i'm a pizza eating fiend... i learned to love thin-crust pizza since pan/deep-dish was hard to find in cali. but, i'll admit - i'll eat it any way it comes. i will also admit, that my 2 faves for "thick" pizza still remain: giordano's and lou malnati's - ack! CHAINS! so my quest for an independent establishment has begun: godfather's is not it. it's similar to art of pizza (which used to be a fave as well). way too doughy (and tasteless dough at that). needs more sauce, needs more cheese, and needs fresher ingredients (the broccoli was yellow...ew). also, the delivery time was slow (promised 45 minutes took closer to 2 hours).

My boyfriend ordered a vegetable pizza saying that he and a friend had awesome barbaque chicken from here last week so he trusts the pizza. After he ordered I went on yelp and saw all the one stars and said, "uh oh babe, we should have done our research." I was expecting some kind of pizza disaster but it turned out fine. The cheese was good and so were the vegetables but it did have a thin crackery crust which is kinda a deal breaker for me. I still kept eating it, but I wouldnt chose to order it again. But the bf liked it, and since he is usually the payer of pizzas....i might be seeing godfathers again.

They litter the neighborhood with paper (i.e. menus) despite specific requests not to leave them at my house. I don't care what their pizza tastes like - pissing off neighbors is not the way to get customers.

I will not be ordering from them again. I ordered two pizzas...thin crust with meatballs, roasted red peppers, hot peppers and mushrooms and got a pizza loaded with green spinach. Yeah, I may eat weird stuff...but NOT green spinach...just freakin' disgusting. The whole pizza went into the garbage. The other pizza was stuffed and just blah. The stuffed poppers were good though. Either way, no more godfather's for me.

I had a romance with Godfather's a few years back. They called me out of the blue to let me know that I hadn't ordered from them for a while and to offer me some special deals. What the hell, show me a little attention and I'm yours. So we had an on again-off again thing for a few years. My usual order was not pizza, but the cheezy combo sandwich -- Italian beef, sausage, and your choice of cheese. Add some sport peppers and you're good to go. Instant heartburn. But the truth is, Godfather's is nothing special. Every take out place in the city has the same menu -- pizza, ribs, fried chicken, sandwiches. I left Godfather's for Laurie's because Laurie's let you charge it and delivers until 3am. I've ordered from Godfather's few times recently, but the love is gone. BONUS MYSTERY: This place has the same address and menu as House of Ribs. Only the phone number is different. What's the deal? I remembered this from my first experience with Godfather, but I had assumed they replaced House of Ribs. But today there was a House of Ribs menu in my front hall, and indeed, it is Godfather's doppelganger. I'm gonna have to cruise by there to see what the sign says.

i have been to Godfather's at two different times of day: around 5 p.m. on a tuesday, and then at about 2 a.m on a saturday. saturday experience: after imbibing perhaps a bit too much, the pizza was not bad. tuesday experience: after workign all day and being completely sober, the pizza was awful. i deduce my dear watson that this pizza, therefore, is good only when inebriated.

I'm not sure why there are this many yelpers trying to spread the Sicilian Message about Godfather's. I pretty much only order their Pan Pizza, so I guess I can't speak to much else, but they're generous with the mozzarella and the price is good. This place actually has a really nice byob patio in the summer, and it's right next to a moderately priced liquor store. Plus, they're pizza-tainted exhaust fans that are pointed at the sidewalk give me warmth in the winter .... but then again, maybe that's why I crave it.

I literally order Godfather's at least once a week. It is a terrible addiction! I keep wanting to try other pizza places in my area but I end up ordering Godfather's because I crave it like none other. This a great local pizza joint and you can feed a bunch of people for a cheap price. Try the thin crust!! Crust and sauce simply de-lish. Yumm!

if you're looking for a quick, classic, no frills pizza, this is your place. Godfather's uses good ingredients, has a good sauce and cooks the pie consistently every time. This is my go-to pizza place when I want a basic one-topping, thin crust, take-out cheesey

Seriously, I have never felt so insulted and treated so rude in my entire life from any phone order! First when I called someone just said "HOLD" really rude and put the phone on the counter, then I said "hello?" (thinking it must have been a mistake) and hung up and called back, and the exact same thing happened, but this time when I said "hello" I heard someone in the background mock me and say "HELLO HELLO!!!" and then pick up the phone and in a very rude way say "godfathers pizza" then I asked what the special was, and when I didn't understand him twice (because the worker was mumbling) he said in a very rude and snide tone "ITS A PASTA DISH" I then asked "I wanted to know if you had any PIZZA specials" and before I could finish my sentence they cut me off and said "NO" at that point i gave up and hung up. Nonetheless too bad someone told me they have amazing pizza because I would have loved to give them my money, but I went somewhere else and will never try to order from there again. Wouldn't recommend to anyone other than people who dont care about customer service, but being in the industry myself it is very important to me. BUYER BEWARE!

On the search for a great thin crust pizza, this has been the best place thus far. They deliver and offer a wide array of items. Can't seem to go wrong! Haven't had anything but pizza, and probably wont but it's close to the hood and easy to order!

After reading the horrendous and nonsensical two-lined reviews about Godfather's, I am compelled to write a rebuttal to the pizza place that I've patronized fairly regularly for the past 8 years. Godfather's is a solid pizza and takeout spot that has been a family-run institution amongst the Uptown community. Given, it's not mind blowing cuisine, but I happen to think that their pizza is fantastic. I don't really understand what other's are saying about bland dough and bad sauce. I know that they make their dough and sauce fresh every day. Their thin crust is delicious, the crust being a nice thickness with a nice crunch and almost hollow edges. I love how the bottom always has a slight tinge of burn on the edges and the sauce is tangy with a nice herbalness. As well, their deep-dish and stuffed and puffed pizzas are killer! The crust has always been buttery and tasty and the mozzarella nice and rich, but not waxy like a lot of other joints. To top it off, I used to religiously eat their sandwich combo specials. The Italian beef, gigantically piled-high tasty beef topped with hot peppers. The meatball sandwich is also incredibly huge, with four giant meatballs adorning a sub roll. For $6.50, you really can't beat their sandwiches. I know that there are a lot of shitty take out places in Chicago, but Godfathers ain't one of 'em. This place deserves some well needed credit. As well, I like how they recently spiffed up their entrance and patio....nice touch.

We've been trying to find a great pizza place in the neighborhood since we moved here, and most recently tried Godfather's. Just AWFUL. there is more flavor in one of those wafers they give you at church. Ketchup sauce, and the place is overpriced. I'm kicking myself for not looking at reviews before ordering from this place! Should have gone with Domino's. I'm telling everyone I know not to order pizza from this place. I have no idea if any of their other food is good, but I won't be trying it.

Stopped over for a late night bite after a show at the Riv. The pizza was hot, super cheesy and cheap. Really, I don't need anything more than that for a post going out nosh. Added bonus that no one noticed/cared that I opened a can of beer from the liquor store a few doors down while we waited for our pizza.

I'm surprised at all the negative reviews here, I've never had a problem with the delivery. I have to say I love the pizza. I'm from Cincinnati and I've had trouble finding pizza that hits the spot, and the Godfather's Famous Pizza had the right combination of sweet sauce, thin crust and provolone cheese. The delivery does take a while, but it has usually come earlier than expected.

I don't care for this place much myself, and I gave it plenty of chances--I live two blocks away. If you're looking for thin crust, then you want to drive to the South Suburbs and go to Aurelio's or Beggar's. Heck, even Giordano's has better thin crust. Mike's parents must live in the land of crappy pizza joints to desire this place. (Unless Mike is "The Godfather and he made them an offer he can't refuse.) Just avoid this place take the 15 minute drive to the real pizza places like Gino's, Lou's, or Art of Pizza.

I like the thin crust pizza, it's all I've had. Regardless, it is up there with the best of them. Good old thin crust with tasty sauce, good cheese, and quality ingredients.

This place isn't anything special. Everything I have ordered has been edible although some tings are pretty good. I order from here in a pinch and it's close to my place.

I grabbed a slice of cheese pizza here the other night after going out drinking. The pizza seemed cheesier than it should have been, but it soaked up the alcohol nicely. Wrapping the pizza seemed totally unnecessary because I intended to eat it while walking. Apparently their patio was still open at 1:30 because a bunch of thuggish-looking guys were sitting out there. I doubt I'd go here if I was sober, but not bad for a $2/slice late-night hangover prevention.

I live and work in Uptown, and Godfather's is a good solid choice for delivery. The folks on the phone are always a pleasure to deal with, delivery is within the hour if not faster. The pizza is good in my opinion. It's very fresh and cheesy. But, the main reason to order from Godfather's is the broasted chicken. (It's basically fried chicken). It is delicious! At work whenever we have a jones for chicken we order a big bucket, which comes with free bread and butter and honey. Sooo good!

I really hate to diss on a small local place like this, but Godfather's just isn't good. The pizzas are weak, all of the appetizers they promise are frozenly pre-packaged (buy a bag at a store to get lower prices and higher values), and I told my friend not to experiment with their peanut butter & jelly pizza. I tried to tell her....

Update: We still order pizza from here and it's still great. Twice I have gotten by the slice (cheese) and it was perfect. The crust was slightly crisp, and not greasy at all. YUM! Contract #2 is my favorite.

Just moved to the neighborhood and was looking for a new pizza joint. Ordered a medium veggie and was sorely disappointed. The cheese and veggies were good, but the sauce was beyond bland. It was like a straight up tomato sauce and hardly any of it. I'd rather go a little farther for Stefano's on Lawrence or Pete's Pizza on Western.

I got home on Easter evening to discover my usual pizza joint wasn't delivering for the holiday. Being too lazy to walk and pick up some food I scanned the delivery menus I had and Godfather's won. They won and I lost. The mushrooms were frozen and then fried and then at a moderate temperature by the time they arrived at my door. The pizza wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either. The biggest turnoff was the delivery itself. I live in a building with 10 floors and 5 apartments on each floor. The driver rang to get in the building and then showed up at my door a good 10 minutes later, no kidding! He told me he couldn't figure out what apartment it was, (the apartments are all the number of the floor followed by a letter). I notice he has a dirty blanket on the floor of my hallway which he unwraps to present a greasy broken large pizza box. From this box he pulls out my smaller pizza that was wrapped in a separate container. It's not so much how long the delivery process took and then the driver inability to find the apartment but the actual blanket covering a big pizza box with a smaller pizza box inside; that was a huge turn off. I threw out the menu so I wouldn't make the same mistake again with this place.

I don't know about all the haters on this sight ecspecially in regards to Godfathers??!!!! Alright I am from the South side, but have been a north sider since college. Original Home Run In, Falcos and now Godfathers. Don't get me wrong it could be better, but this is as good as I can find it up here. Good menu including great daily specials. The one to keep and eye out for is the sunday special a whole chicken for 8$ ask for the Cajun bbq they don't even offer that unless you ask for it, but its good. Good pizza too, the only thing i wish is that they would use fresher ingridents. I want fresh jalepnos on my pizza and not canned. either way its a must try.

Just ordered a cheese pizza and a canoli (to hit the minimum) and it took almost 2 hours to be delivered! The pizza finally arrived, however not the canoli (still waiting on it...). The pizza was cold and tasteless...and I like just about any type of pizza. I will never order from this place again and would not recommend this place to anyone.

I've read the review and must say I don't agree with most of them. We love Godfather's pizza. We don't order anything special (sausage and cheese or half sausage and cheese and half mushroom). Consistent and good. Now if you are want to compare it to say Uno or Lou, then there is no comparison. But giving in one star says it's on par with Domino's or Pizza Hut and I'm sorry but their pizza is much better than that. I won't vouch for the ribs and personally only like their beef ribs. Good portions on the dinners and priced right.

Worst food ever. Please, I beg of you, don't pay for anything at this joint. Frozen desserts, freezer-burnt fries, and pizza with enough grease to deep fry something in. Oh and your pizza will be delivered to you in a BAG, that's right a bag. And the bag is drip drip drip dripping with grease. GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
