YUM! I've only been once but I'll be back. Really friendly and helpful staff. It was a little hard to see all the donuts that were available in the display. I had spent some time picking out flavors online before I came and I still struggled to pick out my half dozen assortment.

This place is fantastic! It's spacious and nicely decorated inside, and they have a wide selection of donuts. I have tried more than I might like to admit and have absolutely loved (almost) all of them. You must try the buttermilk bar - it is SO good! You can see my full review here: cositasilove.wordpress.c…

Love it. Best cinnamon cake donut I've had in years. Decent bagels. Excellent apple fritter. Fabulous creamy dark chocolate frostings. Wonderful selection. Service is good and the inventory isn't all gone mid-morning. I didn't realize this is related to the Stan's Donuts in the Los Angeles area that we love. Welcome to Chicago!

I was worried about the service as previous reviews stated that the people there were rude, but I found my experience to be quite pleasant. The donuts are a bit expensive but they are worth it! I would recommend getting them before 1pm, as I can see how they can get stale the longer they sit out. My favorite was the Nutella-banana stuffed donut. Just the right amount of each to stand out but still not overpower the delicious yeast donut.

Fantastic, I mean FANTASTIC donuts, but terribly slow and rude service. Will not return until this last unpleasant experience is forgotten!

I love donuts. I mean I seriously love donuts way more than cupcakes or other treats. I knew that this location was being opened soon, but didn't know how close it was to one of my doctors. After doctor donut visit is a must. My bus runs right along there too, so double bonus. I visited late in the day before a long holiday after a bit of a health scare aka my baby #2 is causing me to lose balance big time. After getting checked out and given the okay from my doctor, I headed over here for some sugary goodness. By the time I got here, they were running low on donuts. I went with the classics of a yeast donut and an old fashioned one. To spice it up a bit, I got a chocolate frosted yeast donut too. The donuts were good, not mind blowing amazing like some of my faves are. I preferred the chocolate frosted yeast donut to an old fashioned one which is rarely the case. I'll admit that I'm not the biggest fan of Stan's Donuts, but they're pretty solid as far as donut shops go. I see future post appointment visits here since it's so close to my doctor's office. I'm sure that my baby #2 is thrilled by the sugar rush too after those fun routine pregnancy appointments.

I've been a fan of Stan's since I first visited the Wicker Park location. So when I heard that Stan's was FINALLY open down in my hood I had to put on my winter gear and head on over to get a donut or two. Sadly, they didn't have my favorite, the Nutella Pocket Donut, so I had to try something new. Well let me tell you I tried the Chocolate Twist Pretzel and it was delicious! I will definitely be frequent visitor to Stan's.

Stan, you are the man. Great donut shop. Large selection, pleasant staff. Really nice, airy, post-modern space with swivel chairs and a long white banquette. If you're just going to pick up your donuts and leave, that's fine too--greater choice of tables for me. How are the donuts? Top-notch. I tried the regular glazed donut. It was cake-like and sweet. Also the citrus old fashioned--the ratio of frosting to donut was just right. What I liked about both was the absence of the fried, almost burnt taste you get at that National Chain known for donuts and for "making America run." Yeah, run to Stan's. The coffee here is good too, nice and bitter, goes well with the donuts. So when I'm in the neighborhood and looking for a sweet fix, Stan will be my choice. But watch the prices--depending on the type, you can pay anywhere from $1.75 to $3.25 for a single donut here.

Boyfriend had to go to Northwestern way too early in the morning & I needed a pick-me-up so searches for nearest anything-that's-not-Starbucks & !!! Thank you, Stan the Man. Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel was $2.75 & I got an Iced Caramel Latte that I could've done without, total came to $8.01 yikes, overall I'd return & recommend even if just for experience. Nice lobby area, pink atmosphere & they deliver !

Okay, I'm not a huge sweets fan, but the concept here seemed interesting, like all specialty donuts. I got a blueberry something (it was big, filled to the brim with blueberry filling, and lots of sugar on top) for 2.75. It was very good, crispy and even though it was 7 pm, they didn't taste stale. Pricey for a donut, but great for a one time indulgence. If you're near the Magnificent Mile, then it's a decent place to check out. Also, service was nice and friendly.

National Donut Day called for a must have stop at Stan's Donut and Coffee! Free Glazed with beverage purchase couldn't be missed! Mouth watering donut selection that's always fresh along with a huge variety and my personnel favorite Lemon Pistachio! Plus they serve Intelligentsia coffee, gotta love Stan's.

Service is fine but the product is average. I had a Boston creme donut and the frosting was congealed while the filling was too thick.

Streeterville has suddenly become the donut capital of Chicago - first we got Do-rite Donuts, and now Stan's?! We already had Glazed & Infused, a 24-hour Dunkin' Donuts, and even "Wonuts" at Waffles cafe. It's like they're trying to make the students/staff of Northwestern hospital as fat as possible -- thankfully, scrubs and white-coats are very forgiving of expanding waist lines. Stan's opened up a few days ago in the soon-to-open new Northwestern Outpatient building, their second location in Chicago. I was excited after hearing so many rave reviews about their donuts - and they didn't let me down. Their Green Pistachio Old-fashioned is deeee-licious, and as you could probably have already guessed: their Nutella Banana Pocket is too (since anything with nutella = amazing). If you were to ask me which Streeterville Donut place is the best - I can't answer that yet. I may have to do a donut tour one morning to figure that out, followed by a donut-induced coma.

Great service, great beverages to accompany your treats, and most importantly great donuts! They have a great assortment all throughout the day. We went around 6pm and they still had a full breath of flavors. A must go to in Chicago!

Delicious donuts along with delicious coffee. What more could you ask for? My husband and I each got our own and split another. I had the lemon pistachio. It didn't have that punch of flavor I was expecting but still yummy. His choice was the orange old fashioned. He said it didn't disappoint on orange flavor! We shared the maple bacon pecan bar. He didn't like the sweet and savory but I LOVED it. Hands down my favorite! Really neat decor and it was cool to see the docs coming in and out as its in the bottom lobby of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Go if you can!

Their glazed donuts are rings of magic. The way it melted in my mouth reminded my now-sophisticated pallet of the Krispy Kreme donuts I would beg my parents to buy for me as a child. Only far superior, obviously. I generally prefer to go next door to Do-Rite for my donuts, but I find it necessary to splurge once in a while for one of those super premium $3 donuts (biscoff pocket omg). So unless you actually enjoy depriving yourself of great things or limit yourself for moral reasons ("if i don't exercise self control here, i can't do it anywhere"), you should probably stop making yourself feel guilty and just spoil yourself once in a while. That really is the only way to live.

Not impressed. Came here for there Stan's 86th birthday, featuring 86 cent glazed donuts, and was faced with a massive line. No problem, that's what everyone is here for. Then got halfway through the line, was ready to order, and they announced that they had run out of glazed donuts and wouldn't have another batch for another hour. And this currently at 9am. A little surprised, but again still no problem, as I decided to just order something else. Looked through the options, spotted the Maple Caramel Bacon Bar, and placed my order. The problem: The donut itself wasn't all that good. And at $3.30 a pop, it definitely was not cheap either. The donut itself was served room temperature, so that's points off for not having fresh off the press pastries in the morning. But what really got me was how overwhelmingly sweet it was. It was like, instead of focusing on making the softest and most flavorful dough, or attempting at all to balance the saltiness of the bacon with the sweetness of the maple syrup, they just loaded it all with enough sugar to last you the next 3 days. To say it was 'rich' is an understatement. The first bite tasted good, but after that I had a hard time finishing it. Eventually came back to try the glazed donut too. It was alright, for 86 cents. But with normal prices at $2.55 for specialty donuts and $3.30 for their even MORE special donuts, it's not the best value for what is essentially average at best.

Loved it! I walked here from my hotel on a Thursday morning around 7:15am and it wasn't crowded at all. I knew I wanted a biscoff pocket, and I was debating trying the old fashioned donut. However, the girl working suggested that I try her favorite, the dreamsicle bar. She described it as having a nice crust/crunch on the outside and being soft on the inside. I was intrigued, so I went with it. I was NOT disappointed! It was exactly how she described!! The middle was like a regular soft glazed yeast donut, but the crust on the outside made it so much better. The biscoff pocket was good. I read some reviews prior to going and people mentioned that the filling was a bit dry. I have to agree there. I'm not an expert, but I assume it dries out a bit during baking? Maybe if they piped in the filling after baking, it might keep it more moist? Either way, its still a good donut. Even if they are $3 a pop!

Seriously. Amazing. I indulged, because it was my birthday in the rare treat of a delicious donut. First of all, the staff is incredibly friendly. Each one looked more amazing then the next!!! I kept it simple and had the Blueberry old fashioned... Jeezuz. I will recommend a stop for the four main food groups of sugar, fat, salt and preservatives the next time you are in Chicago... I will DEFINITELY return.

Normally I like Stan's, but today's donut was really really bad. I ordered a glazed chocolate yeast donut around midday and was quickly helped, rung up, and out the door. Awesome, as I'm all about quick service. Being impatient, I went to take a bite of my treat before I even got out the front door. No such luck though, because apparently what I was handed was a melted mess with chocolate that stuck to the tissue. Trying to take the tissue off the top of the donut removed all the glaze in one quick swoop, leaving me with a plain old tasting donut that reminded me of stale white bread. I'm sad to say I'm not even joking... I get that it's hot and humid out, but that doesn't mean your donuts should be melting. That's just gross. It was so not worth the calories and I was so irritated it went straight to the garbage after one messy bite.

Delicious donuts- def not cheap though! But these babies are fresh, and if you're there early in the morning, you see em coming right out on the trays. Yum!

I've been here twice now since I work nearby. The first time I got the Cap'n Crunch bismark and it was pretty good, although aside from 3 pieces of cereal on top, it really had nothing to with Cap'n Crunch. Then last Friday I went back and decided to really go for it, as it was my birthday week, and I got a nutella banana pocket. Bad idea. One, it was expensive ($3.60 after tax). Two, it was stale, dry, and hard. Three, there was very little banana in it, and very little nutella. Mostly, it was covered in standard chocolate frosting that tasted like it came from a Betty Crocker jar. And speaking of jars, I would have much rather taken a spoon to a Nutella jar than eat this. I ate half of it and took the rest back to my office thinking it might be salvageable if I microwaved it. That helped soften it, but it didn't help the stale or dry factor. I don't think I'll be coming back here. There are too many other great gourmet donut places in the area . And truthfully, even Dunkin is better.

No matter where I am, I find myself looking up donut shops for breakfast...or dessert...or a mid-morning snack...or whenever I see one (I might be addicted). The latest to enter Chicago is Stan's, originally from LA, so it was guaranteed that I would be checking it out. Oh...my God. This spot is a MUST-EAT no matter where you are in the city. Where else will you find a donut POCKET of Biscoff, peanut butter, or Nutella? Seriously, these sinful sweet bites will make it difficult to contain yourself. Saying they're fantastic is an understatement. You are in for a real treat, Yelpers! You can't leave the store without a Banana Biscoff Pocket, the shining star in the glass case. It's a square glazed yeast donut filled with Biscoff (aka speculoos aka cookie butter) and diced bananas inside. It's the BEST surprise since a Bavarian Cream! Honorable Mentions include: pistachio glazed and chocolate-frosted peanut butter pocket. THANK YOU Stan's for bringing some delicious varieties to the Chicago Donut scene. I'm sure you'll give the competition a run for their money!

I've been walking by this location for several months now and I was excited to see it finally opened this past Friday. No longer do people have to go all the way to Wicker Park to try these delicious donuts! I had already picked up 2 donuts from Glazed and Infused less than 10 minutes ago when I walked by Stan's. I just had to go in and check it out. I walked out of here with an additional 2 donuts (Don't judge me!). I got the Biscoff Banana and the lemon & pistachio old fashioned. Both are super duper yummy. I especially enjoyed the Biscoff Banana one. I think most donuts will set you back about $3 each so it's definitely not cheap but a good treat to have once in awhile. It's really dangerous that I will walk past this location several times a week. Good thing winter is here and I have the need for some extra insulation. I will be back to try out more flavors. Yum!

The Chicago outpost of the infamous Westwood classic just misses the mark. I prefer the original Stan's. They also don't have the same selection of donuts as the original.

Their donuts are fantastic! Overprice for a donut but its really good so I don't mind the price. There's always a line when I come so it goes to show you how popular they are. My all time favorite donut has to be the banana nutella pocket. Best one yet!!

I went for coffee this morning and had the worst service ever from three employees. I asked the server to dump some coffee out as I had to ad cream. She did not dump enough so I said I would dump it myself. Her response was I should not as its too messy for her to clean up. Then as I paid (without tipping mind you, there is a tip field for pouring coffee into a cup) the register server said that's a lot, excuse me I said, he replied thanks a lot. I have excellent hearing and fully comprehend the difference between the two aforementioned phrases. And lastly there was no cream and I asked the other server to fill it up. With a huge sign (as though I was annoying him to do his job) the server filled the cream by using his hands to open the container (touching the area where the cream exits the spot sans gloves). I said thank you politely and he sighed yet again, in a very bothersome manner. Management work on friendlier staff, I won't buy coffee here again and I frequent this building often for meetings in which I would bring donuts.

These are yum-sauce doughnuts not to be confused with the crap sold at Dunkin' Donuts. (However, when visiting later in the day after doughnut making has ceased, it's likely to come across some that have been sitting all the day long. Much like DD's fare.) I wonder why they decided to go with a name having donuts rather than doughnuts. (There are distinctions between the two, but as it is, Stan's has been around for quite a long history.) These gluten-filled, goodness kind are grossly incomparable (to DD) and encapsulate that great feeling associated with a nice, "doughy" bite. (FYI, they also offer gluten-free options) except for the obvious; taste and offering, they are a bit pricey. Their doughnuts look to be rich and gooey filled. But once your teeth bite into that first tasty bite, you'll realize it isn't as sweet as you imagined. It's just sweet enough. Recently, I picked up a bag of five doughnuts for a little over $14 dollars. (Some were specialty. They offer three different pricing points based on type. Check their menu online.) Whenever I come across a new sweet shop or bakery, I like sharing the goodness with family / friends. The recipients of these doughnuts were pleasantly thrilled and those having curd or cream centers were happily surprised. This location is within the Northwestern hospital campus and parking is not available in front. Although metered parking is available a block away it isn't always available. So, I like to post someone in the car, light up the emergency lights and try to make a quick in and out. (This usually works best.) Since they are located within a hospital building, they don't get as busy as stand alone businesses on the street, so your wait shouldn't be too long. Fav'd doughnuts: Glazed, Boston Creme, that peanut butter filled crazy one, the dreambar, lemon curd, buttermilk and ...can't remember the last one. I think I'm gonna have to go back and have another to figure it out. (Hopefully my doctor isn't reading my reviews!)

It's modeled as an art deco nostalgic donut shop but inside, the menu and selection is full on 2015 with vegan delights and some really creative donuts!

Date of Visit 05.17.15 Stan's Donuts - the name makes you think of an old-time fashion bakery where you can go and grab a coffee, a donut and have a good time with friends! Well - it's not far from the truth here. I came upon this bakery by way of a friend on Sunday afternoon. The location is perfect - right into the park across the street and directly connection to Northwesten Hospital. The choices are many for what you want - and just by looking at the donuts, you know your AC1 (blood sugar) may go up a notch as these are REAL donuts - not those air-filled from Krispy Kreme - but real dough as you bite into them. Very scrumptious and dee-lish. At the time we came upon this bakery - they had a special donut in the case called "Emily's Donut." I asked if this was a employee's name and their favorite - no, I was told, it was named after Emily Beazley, a girl that was battling cancer for four years and had stolen the hearts from everyone in the city (and the nation to seems) - and the proceeds went towards a foundation set up for her battle. How could anyone say no to buying a donut like this? The staff was fun and friendly and the bakery was clean and tidy. They also have an area setup for wheelchairs. About Emily - goo.gl/TU9jHy Final Word Would I go back? Yes (but Lakeview should be getting one soon!) Do I recommend? Yes My Grade: 4 out of 5

Confession: I've had three donuts. Today. No regrets. Sweet, fried perfection. Ordered a dozen (and a few extra) for my co-workers on a Friday morning. I called ahead and they said they'd have it ready for me. When I got there it was all boxed up and ready to go. I'm glad I ordered ahead because there was so much to choose from, and I appreciate that they have a detailed menu online. The Biscoff pocket rocked my world. It was heaven. The other donuts that I sampled were also delicious. I grew up in southern CA (home of the best donut shops), and these were spot on. Sadly, I had to knock off a star because they crammed a dozen donuts into one box, and when I got them to work it was difficult for people to see them all to decide on what they wanted. Also, the frosting on one of the donuts on the bottom of the box was completely taken off when we peeled back the parchment paper that separated the donuts from one another. A travesty, if you ask me. Next time (and trust, there will be a next time), I'll make sure to ask them to put the donuts in two boxes. I'm kinda glad this isn't closer to work. It wouldn't be good for my waistline.

So light and cute and great donuts and mochas! Clean and white. Nice view of Chicago people and park.

Decent prices, good donuts, but there's a far superior option literally down the block. The donut was fluffy but had air pockets. The texture and flavors don't compete with their competitor down the block -- I would suggest going to Do-Rite Donut instead.

Ok had a horrible morning experience with customer service (see below) and did not end up getting any donuts. Well a few weeks later someone brought in a dozen fresh ones to work and ... Wow. The glazed donut was light and airy inside and perfect fried on the outside with a crispy exterior. So get the glazed donuts but not if you are in any sort of hurry (or just have someone else pick them up for you)

Picked up several donuts to take to my parent's for Memorial Day dessert and these were amazing! So much so that the next morning, I asked my fiance to go pick some more up for me. I was craving the Biscoff Banana Pocket (this is dangerous). The other winner was the Glazed Pretzel twist. I wish Stan's wasn't so convenient to our house!

Stopped in while waiting for an appointment, the atmosphere is very chill. Surprisingly i was able to stop in and relax. Much better than Starbucks in my opinion without the loud expression machines. Glad I stopped in wish I could try more donuts. I would give it five stars but I wish the place was a bit bigger it gets quite congested with a line of people and the donut deliveries trying to wiggle behind the customers. They could also use more than two cashiers.

Great donuts albeit pricey, but the lack of active management makes visiting this store hit or miss. I work in the area and have stopped by numerous times since the opening. At first I thought the problems with customer service were start-up blues but, as others have noted, there are times when some staff seem more interested in socializing with each other than with being interrupted by paying customers. This store sometimes doesn't open on time, and often there are no donuts on the rack when they do unlock the door. The credit card process is very basic, requiring a signed receipt and printing a duplicate for each transaction which clogs the service line whenever they are busy. Replenishing the coffee bar cream, etcetera seems to happen only when customers point out the carafes are empty - and then it can be a slow process. All the other donut shops I visit have staff who show up well before the customers so they are ready for business when they open for the morning rush, and they have a well crafted process to greet customers and expedite their service. Until Stan's gets their customer service act together better, I can't recommend them.

There are a lot of specialty donuts and they are very colorful, all very different. I couldn't help but order a couple to try but who doesn't want to carry a cute pink box. We tried Dreamsicle Bar,Nutella Banana Pocket;Pistachio Glazed, Blueberry Fritter, Blueberry Bismark, and a turtle. These are in the order of my favorite and stand out. The dreamsicle of really sweet but really stood out it really felt like I was eating a dreamsicle as bit into a marshmallow cream center. The Banana pocket was unique and my hubby favorite, it has a nice caramelize banana hidden inside. I'm much of a pistachio person but this was a good surprise and it wasn't too sweet. I always love a nice fluffy apple fritter but yummy nice change to a blueberry which I think I like better now. The blueberry bismark was not remarkable as it just seem like a blueberry jelly donut and the turtle was a cakey donut and the nuts were not crunchy so it was missing the texture.

I love this place. They brew intelligentsia coffee (YES) and the donuts are amazing. My favorite? The Biscoff filled one. It's not cheap but that is because it is DELICIOUS. Management.... If you want to get a punch card for coffee, I'd be down with that.

The donuts are good - i think I prefer Do-Rite though. The service is good and lines aren't ridiculous in the morning. Good addition to the area especially for those who work at the hospital and the University.

Didn't have the coffee. The nutella/banana is amazing. Also LOVED the pistachio glazed. Excellent old-fashioned. Streeterville is now donut ground zero in Chicago. I think Stan's may be our new favorite. Nice coffee shop atmosphere with a fair number of seats.

Pretty? Yes. Service? Great. Delicious? Definitely! Would I go back? Maybe, if I'm in the city again. The pistachio lemon glaze was bit on the sweet side but there are so many other flavors to try still.

So while my child had to be at Laurie Children's everyday for two weeks I was constantly searching form some good snacks. I wish I could say that I found Stan's the first day but it was only on the last day that I stumbled across this gem. Throwback decor and delish donuts. The only drawback is that they are pricey. In my opinion you get the same quality from the bakery at Mariano's for half the price. Yes I know it's downtown and everything costs more (rent ain't cheap) but if they lowered the cost a bit I would definitely go out of my way for more of these pillows of deliciousness.

My fav is the banana nutella donut!!! and yes, its better than most of the donut places Ive been to. Its kinda expensive for a donut but comparing it w/ the taste, it wasnt bad at all! great company for your morning coffee because its pretty swewt for a donut. I love how its right in d downtown, very easy access and great neighborhood.

not the best out there (I prefer Glazed & Infused) but who can say no to a very well prepared donut? In particular the cinnamon pretzel thing is excellent. Line on free donut day was very long, but it was worth the wait in the end

I've seen this place under construction for a while, so, naturally, I was excited to finally try out the donuts when I noticed that it was finally open. Needless to say, the donut was satisfying, and I went back for more the following day. My personal favorites are the glazed with rainbow sprinkles and, of course, the biscoff banana pocket! I have yet to try out the coffee at Stan's (I usually eat my donuts with milk). For anyone who hasn't been here before: "The Standards" $1.75 each, $19 for a dozen, $9.50 for six Glazed, Chocolate Glazed, Chocolate Cake, Sprinkled "Specialties" $2.50 each, $28 for a dozen, $14 for six Glaze Old Fashioned, Chocolate Old Fashioned, Chocolate Orange Old Fashioned, Glazed Orange Old Fashioned, Blueberry Old Fashioned, Buttermilk Bar, Pistachio Glazed, Raspberry Bismark, Strawberry Bismark, Boston Cream, Coconut Cake, Coconut Cream, Cinnamon Roll, Captain Crunch Bismark, Double Chocolate Old Fashioned, Blueberry Fritter, Apple Fritter, Gluten-Free, Beingets (2 for $2.50), Cinnamon Sugar Cake, Buttercream Bismark, Lemon Curd, Toffee Cake, Dreamsicle Bar, Chocolate Buttermilk Bar, Carrot Cake. "Dough Boy's Best" $3.25 each, $38 for a dozen, $19 for six Peanut Butter Pocket, Peanut Butter Banana Pocket, Biscoff Pocket, Biscoff Banana Pocket, Nutella Pocket, Nutella Banana Pocket, Maple Caramel Bacon Bar, Lemon Pistachio Old Fashioned, Glazed Twist, Glazed Pretzel Twist, Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel, Blueberry Cheese Danish, Maple Caramel Bacon, Pecan Bar, Cherry Cheese Danish, Chocolate Drizzle Pretzel, Maple Long John I don't think all the flavors are available every single day (that would be crazy).

I Wont be coming back, thanks to your staff... I went in everything looked delectable, so I smiled and said just that to the lady behind the counter. She didnt even respond staring into space right past me. So I stopped smiling too! At this point im very angy but I went on and ordered the peanut.butter something or other and a hot chocolate. Maybe im crazy but for almost 8 bucks at least smile..then. I get the hot chocolate and it was a chocolate latte or something, and the donut was horrible... Note: when I walked in 2 staff members were having a great conversation, when I walked in no one said anything to me, and one person walked away, leaving the unhappy young lady to take care of me. Note to management: Train your staff to greet and engage the people who help keep the place open... your customers! IJS

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before: I have a major sweet tooth. Donuts are one of my weaknesses. On my first unplanned visit, I saw that Stan's sells beignets. Um, that's major points for me. I love beignets and don't really like making them at home (messy, ya know?). I decided to get some and skip out trying anything else. That's what more visits are for. Two beignets go for $2.50 (or $2.25, I forget). They're a pretty good size than I what I expected, and I loved that. And yeah, they're pretty good for sharing...if you don't inhale them both first. I sometimes like the plain glazed or a glazed old-fashioned too. I haven't really tried anything else other than those, but one day I will. For now, I know where to go for a quick beignet fix. The place can be extremely busy early weekend mornings to being not completely crowded where I can sit and enjoy a cup of mocha and an old-fashioned glazed.

Very nice experience. I now wish I had time to fully peruse the menu. What I saw looked like a donut junkies dream. Unfortunately I was in a rush and ordered two dozen vanilla and chocolate glazed donuts for my students. The donuts were a huge hit and delicious. Unlike a Krispy Kreme donut these donuts had more heft to them and were a bit chewier. I appreciated this because it made me savor the moment. In addition the glaze (chocolate) had a nice dark chocolate flavor. Very nice will have to visit on another day when I have time.

Stan, Stan the donut man. Boy, do I love your donuts. I've had coconut cream, old fashioned chocolate but the old fashioned glazed donut stole my heart. It is simple and it's delicious. I'd personally like to shake the hand of the person who invented glaze and then give Stan a big ole hug for perfecting it. Sometimes more is not better *cough* *glazed n infused". Stan's does your classic donuts extremely well but also executes their own spin on those classics deliciously. I was bummed that the old fashioned orange glaze was out for the day, but hope to try it upon my next visit. Intelligentsia coffee is offered, which is a huge plus for me. The other thing I love about Stan's? The CTA tracker app that is on the electronic menu board so you'll know if you have time to sit down for a cup or need to grab your donut to go and haul ass for the train. Either way, the trip to Stan's will be worth it.

At first I scoffed at paying $3 for a donut then I tried the bacon maple and lemon pistachio and I was hooked these are some great donuts I am glad that I live nowhere near this place because I would weigh a thousand pounds if I live close by short little walk from Northwestern Hospital and the donuts are well worth the price so they get 5 stars in my book

I am not sure what happened this weekend, but they were off. No beignets on Sunday and when you are only offering them three days a week, come on! The iced coffee was not good and my four donuts and medium coffee ran almost $15, which is insane.

For the most part, the donuts were average to good. I gave this review four stars instead of three because the staff was terrific; they were positive, engaging, and accommodating. I bought a half dozen donuts with the highlights being the peanut butter pocket and the Boston creme. The chocolate icing on the top of the donuts is rich and tastes more like dark chocolate than milk. I also got a skim latte which was solid. The environment is friendly with a lot of natural light. I would not go out of my way to return to Stan's but I would be happy to eat there again, should it be convenient.

For a place that is relatively expensive one would expect better service. I have been there a few times and have been disappointed in the how I was treated. I have waited in the main line for coffee initially and was told that if I wasn't ordering donuts, then to step to the main counter. Fair enough, so that's what I did the next time. I waited for 5 minutes and then was told very rudely by the staff that the line starts by the donuts. I explained that I was just ordering coffee and that's what I was told to do last time. I was told that there is only 2 people here and what did I expect. I understand that sometimes they are understaffed, but they should have been nicer and they knew I was waiting there. No reason to be rude. Will never go back, as there are cheaper options that are much friendlier right next door.

I was the first to review Stan's Wicker Park location, so you know I'm a fan. Stan's is amazing at making donuts, period. This just gives people the option of getting these lovely creations closer to their respective hood or work location, and that's a good thing. I'm not clear on whether these are all made in Wicker and driven to Streeterville or if there's a bakery at the Streeterville location, but if you come really early it doesn't matter. So freakin' good!

Went here to grab some coffee and a donut. The donut was fantastic, as I had the basic chocolate glazed. My wife has the beignets, and she said they were very tasty. The coffee was average. I've had better and will probably skip it next time. The donuts are worth trying, though!

This is an A-OK donut shop. Came in at 6:30p on a Sunday night. Place was empty. Super clean. Two friendly staff members. Cute pink and white retro motif. The place is large. To the reviewer complaining that it is small, you can easily seat 40 people. How big do you want your donut shop? The donut cases were packed and plentiful with at least 20 varieties of donuts. I ordered a chocolate cake and chocolate gazed donut. The chocolate cake was meh. Actually, I did not like it at all. It just tasted over fried. Not a fan. The chocolate glazed however was AMAZING! Amazing! So very good. Yum. While I would never make a special trip to come here, I will definitely be sure to stop in anytime I find myself relatively close.

2 stars for service as they were very friendly guys. The donuts though...? :[ Maybe I've been spoiled with Firecakes and Voodoo donuts but these were, I don't know how to say it, off...? Everything was some sort of crazy flavor that was just okay. If you're looking for a plain vanilla glazed you will NOT find it here! I got the blueberry fritter which tasted of fake blueberry. I don't think it was fake? But the flavor was just so saccharine. Plus fritters are supposed to have crunchy edges, this one did not it was soft which I can't stand on a fritter. I also got the pistachio lemon old fashioned which again was just okay, the pistachio glaze was super thin so all you could taste was lemon. I also got the citrus old fashioned that was just okay again but it had these huge flecks of lemon and orange that actually had a weaker citrus flavor than the pistachio. I just didn't get it. I'm all for funky flavors but if you're going to go that far off of the path (the flavors I got were the more tame ones) then you have to do it right and blow people's socks off. And my socks are still on.... Sorry!!!! Maybe I need to try the pockets? Those seemed popular... Maybe next time...!

I've had better donuts than here. The donuts seemed like they been sitting there all day. Didn't taste fresh at all. Will not go back. It's conveniently situated but there wasn't much foot traffic there. I did sit down to eat.

    (2)
  • Kristi L.

The Citrus Old Fashioned is my absolute favorite! The perfect tang with sweet after notes- not too citrus-y but just enough to make the doughnut unique! Matched with a Caramel macchiato, this pair really offset the rainy mood outside. Great place to work too!

Great donut shop! It's brand new so it's really clean. It's a small space but that's ok. Most folks just pick up their donuts to go, right? If you do want to sit.. there's room for about 20 people to sit and enjoy. They have a wide array of donuts and serve Intelligentsia coffee. Everything is good! The employees are super friendly and helpful. I'd go back!

The second high-end doughnut shop to open on the same block, so I needed to check it out. The display case is attractive, the offerings are extensive and the service is quick -- all areas in which Stan's excels above the neighborhood competition. The prices are very cleverly conveyed by the color of the tags noting the style and flavor. When all is said and done, it is pennies more than the store down the block. I opted for the mid-price citrus glazed old fashioned, a rough edged cake doughnut thickly glazed and with an orange flavor in both the dough and the glaze. There is a bit of a pleasant crunch on the exterior which has been softened by the glaze but the mouth-feel of the cake is a bit greasy and there is evidence of a slightly low cooking temperature (a risk when frying too many at once) let gives the fat time to soak into the dough. Despite the more attractive surroundings and great service, I'll stick with the other guys.

I have tried the glazed pretzel twist donut, the peanut butter pocket, the chocolate dip, and the biscoff pocket. My favorite by far was the biscoff pocket. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. I believe it is filled with speculoos cookie butter. I would skip the peanut butter pocket. The peanut butter is pretty dry on the inside. I can't wait to try the nutella pocket!

Tried the vegan doughnut here (they only had one kind). It's a basic sugar-glazed and fried donut, but very good. Definitely worth the $2.50 (it counts as a "specialty"). On par with Do-Rite down the street only without the queue, but worth a visit even if you aren't just avoiding crowds. Give them a try!

If you want to get a punch card for coffee, I'd be down with that.

not the best out there (I prefer Glazed & Infused) but who can say no to a very well prepared donut?

IJS

National Donut Day called for a must have stop at Stan's Donut and Coffee! Free Glazed with beverage purchase couldn't be missed!

  • Jonas T.

Pretty? Yes. Service? Great. Delicious? Definitely! Would I go back? Maybe, if I'm in the city again. The pistachio lemon glaze was bit on the sweet side but there are so many other flavors to try still.

Yum!

Its kinda expensive for a donut but comparing it w/ the taste, it wasnt bad at all! great company for your morning coffee because its pretty swewt for a donut. I love how its right in d downtown, very easy access and great neighborhood.

Yes I know it's downtown and everything costs more (rent ain't cheap) but if they lowered the cost a bit I would definitely go out of my way for more of these pillows of deliciousness.

not the best out there (I prefer Glazed & Infused) but who can say no to a very well prepared donut? In particular the cinnamon pretzel thing is excellent. Line on free donut day was very long, but it was worth the wait in the end

  • Alaina D.

Cute place, lots of seating and clean. Not a huge donut selection but what I got was good (blueberry cheese Danish). Would return to grab a treat and enjoy the quiet atmosphere.

    (5)
  • Yvonne O.

I am not sure what happened this weekend, but they were off. No beignets on Sunday and when you are only offering them three days a week, come on! The iced coffee was not good and my four donuts and medium coffee ran almost $15, which is insane.

  • Sam W.

Best donuts ever. I wish they had more, and they were fresh. If you want low end donuts, this isn't the place for you. Great coffee too (Intelligentsia), and friendly people working there. Also, there is a great place to sit in the Northwestern Memorial Hospital right behind Stan's (connected), if there isn't space in Stan's itself.

Great service, great beverages to accompany your treats, and most importantly great donuts! They have a great assortment all throughout the day. We went around 6pm and they still had a full breath of flavors. A must go to in Chicago!

On our trip to Chicago, I made a list of doughnut shops that I wanted to try. Stans was not one of them. Saw them as I was walking around downtown Chicago. Walked into a good looking donut shop. There was both indoor and outdoor seating available. Both areas were nice and sanitary. The display cases were filled with lovely looking delicacies. I only had room for one in my tummy. Biscoff Banana Pocket was my choice. It was expensive, but worth it. I would purchase that yummy pocket of goodness again! I'm glad that I dropped into Stan's Donut & Coffee. It was worth every calorie. Would go here quite a bit if I lived in the area because I would enjoy eating trying all of those good looking sweets!

Seriously.

Yum!

The Chicago outpost of the infamous Westwood classic just misses the mark. I prefer the original Stan's. They also don't have the same selection of donuts as the original.

Decent prices, good donuts, but there's a far superior option literally down the block. The donut was fluffy but had air pockets. The texture and flavors don't compete with their competitor down the block -- I would suggest going to Do-Rite Donut instead.
