I got a Groupon deal for this place and I decided to use both my Groupon Vouchers today (one for lunch and one for dinner). The Catfish Fillet was really tasty, so I went back for dinner. However, I was given the wrong sauce for both orders: they gave me the Spicy sauce instead of the Tartar sauce I asked for... This place would be much better if the service gets better.

I too bought a groupon and was disappointed. First they have kids running the place. I waited over 35 minutes just for catfish tails. i am aware that they take a little longer to cook, but really. It was taking so long that the cook came out and gave me a free piece of fish to eat while i wait for my order. That order was for my mom who said it was good. i then returned the next day to use my second groupon and there were no more catfish tails. i got a catfish dinner all steak pieces and they gave me the smallest pieces of fish i have ever seen. It tasted okay a little bland so i had to put extra lemon pepper for some seasoning. No consistency with the food and wait time is too long. I don't recommend this place to anyone, its unlike any other Sharks i have visited.

Not worth the visit. Used a Groupon wanted fried mushrooms, sorry we are out. How about some catfish? Sorry we are out. Perhaps a gyro sandwich? Don't have that either. Hmmm... Settled for the fish (perch) and there wing combo and a side of onion rings. Fish was so overcooked, chicken was tasteless and the rings are better at Burger King. I have second Groupon for this place. It's not worth the trip back to use it! The guy at the counter was nice but the food not to nice!

Harold's, JJ Fish & Shark's Fish & Chicken. The Holy Trinity of delicious, greasy and VERY unhealthy food! Come here for the perch and quarter white (hot & mild), stay for the surly dismissive service and questionable clientele. The fact that it's right next to the prison is a very nice touch! Treat yourself to a Friday fatty deliciousness, but don't come here too often or you will get fat! :p

If there was a no star, I would choose that. I ordered a large catfish fillet dinner, and when the guy said "7 minutes" I should've known right then, but I went anyway because I was desperate for fish. Well, got there, and my order was ready, BUT, there was a guy in there selling bootleg dvd's, who mind you, was also working in the back?! Ok, giving the street location and look, I can't be too surprised...I GUESS! Anyhoo, I get home, and there are 4 small, and I do mean SMALL fillet pieces with greasy fries, and hard bread, all for $12 and some change. It tasted horrible, and I felt a little queasy afterwards. NEVER EVER WILL I PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THERE, OR EAT THERE AGAIN! BTW, this was my second visit to this place. The first visit had fishy tasting catfish tails. STAY AWAY from this Sharks location. Now, even though I live in the West Loop, I drive all the way south to 111th and halsted to get my fish from that Sharks, because they are so worth every penny. I've been going there for months now, and have not been disappointed. Sharks on 420 S Clark St needs to be SHUT DOWN!

Everything is fried and a shade of brown. With that established, this place is exactly what you'd want out of it, lots of food, cheap prices, and delicious grease. Douse your plate in hot sauce, let your slice of white bread soak up the excess, and break out that Prilosec.

If there was a no star review that is what I would of selected. We ordered our lunch for delivery and guess what after two hours of waiting THEY NEVER got here. We called and cancelled and the guy said the delivery guy left a while ago well guess what you said less than an hour for delivery. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR DELIVERY or anything else.

I am typically a fan of dive restaurants (which this certainly is), but I had an all around-negative experience at this restaurant. The guys at the counter was a complete jerk. He was hard to understand and made no effort to answer any questions I had . When my food was ready I asked if there was any sauce in the bag and he rolled his eyes and said no because I didn't ask for any. I wish I would have told him "That's because you don't do your job, are rude, unfriendly, and have no customer service skills," but of course I couldn't think of that on the spot. The food is really really greasy. If you need a grease fix this is your place. Get your hot wings somewhere else for sure. There are lots of other dives on the same block with better food and people who like thier jobs.

Okay so we ordered through grubhub cause well we had meetings to go too and no time to get anything to eat, although a restaurant is on the lobby floor in our building.....we get restless of eating the same things. The GrubHub is a convenience as they can get food delievered from restaurants which normally doesn't take deliveries. However, the food order was estimated to be delievered at 12:30pm cause we put it in early for that reason alone around 10:00am.......well our delievery didn't get there until 2:00pm :( GrubHub admitted their mistake and gave us certificates for our next order but DAMN I was truly hungry! Sharks - The food was good, hot sauce wasn't hot enough (or so I am told). Enjoy

The fried chicken is awesome. This is counter service, but don't be misled, it's not fast food. Everything is cooked to order and for fried chicken that's saying something. Expect to wait--it can take longer to get your food than to eat it. You can get pretty much anything in combination, so if you can't decide between chicken and fish this is your place. The chicken is so hot it will melt your fork. Good location for the library, financial district, South Loop, etc. Underrated, I think.

sketch-a-rific. great place when you're craving fried chicken that still has a few feathers and smells like fish. no joke, every other person in line asked the cashier for a job.

Now I know the place is sketchy but if you want fried chicken go to sharks. As more Northsiders have caught on to Harold's, they just haven't eaten sharks. When getting the chicken ask for lemon pepper seasoning and it taste unbelievably good. I have had the fish and it is pretty tasty as well. If you can relax and ignore this less maintained stretch of South Clark Street, you will enjoy what you eat.

Sounds like Amanda C. dealt with the same manager as I did. Can we start a petition to fire this guy? Shark's Fish & Chicken's manager and driver are liars. THEY NEVER DELIVERED MY FOOD. EVER. I used a 3rd party delivery service and made my order at 2pm for delivery at 4:45p. Even called to confirm, so they were aware of my order at 2pm. No excuse for a late (let alone NO SHOW) delivery. Plenty of time to prepare the food, the route, and be there on time, accounting for rush hour traffic. I needed that order to be on time, as I was taking it somewhere for a meeting. I called at 4:50p, pleasant just inquiring. The liar manager said, driver should be there any minute. Ok. 5:00pm I call again, liar manager says same thing, driver should be there any minute. At 5:10p I call delivery.com to have them intervene. They call Shark's and the liar manager again says the same thing. I complain to delivery.com that this is the same BS that they have been telling me 2 times now. I tell them, I need to leave by 5:15pm, 30 minutes after the scheduled delivery time, because I will be late for the meeting that I promised the food for. The very nice delivery.com rep relays this message back to the idiot Shark's manager, and the manager says, okay, the driver will be there no later than two minutes. I'm irate at this point. I said, tell that manager, I will not stay here a moment later than 2 minutes more, which is really 5:17pm, and it takes 15 minutes to get to my destination. I demand that due to their incompetence, that they need to deliver to where I'm going, it's their fault for being extremely late, there was plenty of time for them to arrive here on time, as I ordered at 2pm for a 4:45pm delivery, my order wasn't a huge order at all, and that they could at least from the beginning tell me the truth, whether they just started making my order at 4:45pm and the driver is stuck somewhere in traffic, or whatever the case was. Or even better, the driver should have just called us directly with his status instead of us having to talk to this idiot Shark's manager. 5:17pm rolls around, and of course, no driver, no food. I had to leave. I told the delivery.com rep that I was leaving, he understood, he then relayed my message to the idiot Shark's manager, and then told me that conveniently right after I left that the idiot Shark's manager said that the driver was in my work lobby (delivery was made for my work building), that he was not going to deliver to anywhere else, he was not going to refund this order. I didn't want the food anyway, because I was afraid they might have spit in it or done something worse. But I told the delivery.com guy, I certainly am not paying for it, and I stronly suggested that delivery.com should not pay this merchant either, for his gross incompetence and lack of customer service, extreme rudeness, and lack of honesty. That's not even the end of the story. I find out the next day, through the security guards that were on duty during the time of the alleged delivery because they were also on duty the next evening during the same time, that THEY NEVER DELIVERED ANY FOOD. NO DELIVERY WAS EVER MADE. NO DRIVER EVER CAME INTO THE LOBBY. AND GUESS WHAT? WE HAVE CAMERA SECURITY FOOTAGE IDIOTS. WE HAVE THE PROOF. Liars!!! Plus, the security guards at my work have infinitely more integrity and honesty than Shark's Fish & Chicken employees. You shouldn't even be a merchant on delivery.com . They shouldn't have to put up with you, and neither should we customers. If we can't do 0 stars, we should be allowed to do half stars.

Small dried out wings fried in old grease then seemingly refried to heat up. Utterly disgusting. I miss the Sharks on State st. Never again, I promise you that!

Wow. Can I get my money back? I don't know why I did it, but I decided to give you a try and get your buffalo wings. Ugh! These things are so bad. I am not sure what you are trying to sell but it isn't buffalo wings. These things were worst than Little Caesars. I think I could get better wings from the 7-11 down the street. Hey everyone, if you want wings...take a few more steps down the street and go to Mickey's. Now those are some wings...Of course I don't recommend getting sauce on them. So Shark's...can I get my money back? Really though. The deal is great...wings...fries...two slices of Wonder Bread...and a small serving of coleslaw that was comparable to KFC's. I would rather pay the price i did for your coleslaw than spend a red cent on those gross chicken wings. They were so bad I couldn't even finish them. Maybe these wings are left over from the prison across the street. Even they wouldn't eat them. Yuck Yuck Yuck! Bye the way your BBQ sauce is Ketchup! Gross!

I will give this 4 stars for sheer volume of delicious fried stuff. Recently went for the first time after hearing rave reviews from some, and not from others. I selected the catfish nuggets and a side of hush puppies. First off, the portions are generous. the small side of hush puppies is nearly a two person affair. Secondly, the food is awesome. Nice cornmeal batter on the catfish with fine ground salt and pepper tossed in. Tasty french fries (cause I needed more fried stuff.). The hush puppies were sweet but not too sweet, with good flavor, not too much onion. Just awesome. Other co-workers have had nothing but good to say about the fried chicken. They also have about half a dozen kinds of fish, shrimp, mussels, all manner of chicken, and lots of fried appetizers - mozzarella sticks, mushrooms, wings, jalapeño poppers, etc. You may want to call ahead, as everything is made fresh and can take a little bit to have prepared. But an added bonus - when I was in waiting for my order, Cheaters was playing on the TV hanging in the corner! Awesome!

I always forget that this place is in my neighborhood. I visited this location and had fish and shrimp. The food was so very fresh and the restaurant is very clean. I plan to visit again soon. However, a coworker ordered from here for lunch and they forgot one order. Supposedly, the owner or manager sent the dinner out but it was never received. When called, they were very rude and belligerent. The money was not refunded nor was the dinner replaced. Bad for business guys.

DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY FROM HERE.... unless you would like to wait two hours for your food but hey you have been warned! Needless to say I was very unhappy with this establishment and their lack of customer service. If you want something for your lunch hour place your order at 8 a.m. otherwise you will be promised the moon and stars but come 2 p.m. you still have no food and a lunch hour gone to waste! Hey Yelp! There should be a negative star rating... and this place would definitely fall in that category!

Couldn't really decide what to eat on a nice day so coworker and I started walking east at random.. We found Shark's and their inexpensive menu. I should have known not to expect much from my gut instinct, but in we went. The food was really greasy.. I got the catfish nuggets and fried okra. Total with the fries and drink it was around 8 dollars. Not bad for fish I would say, but it just wasn't that good.. Also, my coworker's mushrooms were nothing, but oil.. I liked the prices if the food were more decent, but the whole place just doesn't give a good vibe.
