Sat at a dirty bar. The bartender never cleaned it. He told me I needed to order right away because the kitchen was closing. So I ordered, got served tasteless spaghetti bolognese and was handed my bill before I was asked if I wanted anything else. Dirty, rude, and tasteless. That sums this place up in a nutshell.

Great service. Amazing bread! we were waiting to board our plan back to san diego, at ohare. ohare rocks, that's it in a nutshell. the airport has many amazing sit down restaurants, with better furniture and service than you'd find in many local city places! but i digress... i chose macaroni grill because of the seating and the room. selam served us, and she was very sweet, attentive to the kids (gave them a bucketful of crayons to draw on the paper laid on the table). i had a great house chardonnay, and the bread they served was unbelievable. it had a rosemary baked crust which was rich with olive oil. (i broke my gluten free days with this bread, that says ALOT.) i ordered off the adult menu for the kids, they wanted a spaghetti with meatballs, which was cooked perfect al dente, and the meatballs had so much italian flavor, and was soft. i ordered the spinach salad, which was lightly tossed with olive oil as the dressing. it had delicious baked prosciutto on top, and 4 large tiger shrimps that were grilled. it was scrumptious and delish. i really am not sure if another mac grill will have this delish of food, or service.. i am blown away that ohare airport had this service, and can't wait to come back, believe it or not!

***Like other airport food, Macaroni Grill's express stand (selling sandwiches and salads) is expensive, but their food is also satisfying and filling without being too heavy or greasy*** A full service Macaroni Grill sits inside Chicago O'Hare's American Airlines terminal (they also have an express stand that sells sandwiches and salads). Even though there were a fair number of nearby sit-down restaurants (like Wolfgang Puck), Macaroni Grill's restaurant was very busy. I wanted to just grab something quick and not too heavy before a flight so I picked up one of their Italian sandwiches from the express line. Like you would expect with airport food, the sandwich was pricey (I think it was around $7-$8). The sandwich was a generous portion though. It was herb and sun-dried tomato topped focaccia bread that was filled with ham, salami, prosciutto, mozzarella, pesto, tomato, lettuce, and black olives. The sandwich tasted pretty good for an airport sandwich. Like many pre-wrapped sandwiches, the sandwich was a little on the too-cold side, but it was a good combination of flavors. The sandwich also did not feel too heavy and was not greasy, which I have experienced with a lot of airport food. This sandwich was filling (and held me over on the long flight back to Los Angeles); the other good thing was that it did not make me ill or feel bad for eating it. The only problem with the sandwich was the iceberg lettuce. Parts of it were a little browned. Service was quick. Outside of the airport, I would say this Macaroni Grill express option was an average to slightly below average spot. But inside the airport where there is a lot of bad food (in terms of taste and greasiness), this Macaroni Grill sandwich was not too bad and worth considering if you need something quick and not too heavy before your next flight. This Macaroni Grill is located within the terminal (and past the security gates) so it is only available for airport travelers.

A staple. Great place for predictable food. I am always surprised how many people they have working and how they can ignore their customers. You would expect that it would be quick, attentive, and friendly with this many people wandering around. The hostess station had 3 people talking and no one helping customers get seated. The greeter acted tired and had no energy. Glad i had a 4 hour layover. However to her credit, my server was thoughtful and nice. Food was good but buried in truffle oil.

This is not a review on the food because I didn't get a sandwich, which has all ingredients that I like, for the plane ride as originally planned. Allow me to explain. The to-go register is situated right next to the kitchen. On either side of this setup (open fridge to hold the grab-and-go food) were restaurant seating and a railing. There were two Macaroni Grill people who looked me be on their break and standing by/sitting on the railing. They clearly saw me select my sandwich and walk to the register. After probably about 30 seconds, a girl walks by, acknowledges me (I couldn't understand her), and walks away. Roughly a few minutes (2 or 3), I say "excuse me" in order to capture anyone's attention. No such luck...after waiting for a few more moments, I put the sandwich back and leave. Though I do like the ingredients in that sandwich, I won't be attempting to purchase it again. And to add insult to injury, I left the water I had previously bought from Garrett Popcorn. Oh well!

I had the lasagna, which was great and a huge portion for the price. The table bread is also delicious. The service at this location, however, leaves a lot to be desired. The hostess stand is swarmed with random airport employees who want to come by to stand around and socialize with the restaurant employees. My server was somewhere between indifferent and awful. She stood behind me for a long time, just leaning against the wall and making me uncomfortable as I ate, as if she wanted me to hurry and leave. Then, when I actually was almost finished and needed a refill and my check, she was nowhere to be found for at least 10 minutes. Not the place to go to grab a quick bite because with this kind of service you'll probably miss your flight.

The food at this restaurant isn't horrible, but the service isn't great. It took us forever to be seated firstly. Second, when my husband ordered his meal the waiter said to forget the order (I cant remember what he ordered exactly) and that he'd bring him a nice big piece of chicken instead.... but my husband is a vegetarian and ordered what ordered for a reason. He'd taken our drink order which didn't arrive until we were nearly finished eating. We'd have asked for them sooner but he had disappeared. The restaurant was very busy, and I felt sorry for him. I know what it's like to serve a busy room, however when he started talking to the table directly next to us about JFK getting his brains blown out that was it. We were glad to get out of there haha.

Lunch stop on a Tuesday. Good, friendly service. Split a margherita pizza and green side salad. Enough for a decent small meal especially with the loaf of bread (a little salty). Salad decent with tomatoes, carrots and croutons. Pizza good but likely sat there for a few when came out of the oven - lukewarm. $19 for 2 decent for an airport meal.

Nice place to stop if you have the time in he airport. Tables and bar seating. The food is quality and service is good. It's an actual sit down experience in the airport. They also have a Togo area with pre made options that are great if ur are in a rush and need something to take aboard. Nice selection of wine and beer (for the airport)

I went here yesterday after my flight got cancelled. The food was decent, but the service was horrible - from the maitre'd down to the waitress. For starters, I ordered their soup of the day. It was delivered at the same time as my entree (what was the point of it being a starter then? It's a bowl of common soup for goodness sake.) After delivering my food my waitress, Rossi, literally disappears! I had to flag down the maitre'd to get the check and then who comes walking up out of the fog in a frenzy -- you guessed it, the waitress. She gives me the check and disappears, again! I inserted my payment and waited about 5 minutes. I tried to get the attention of the maitre'd as she was walking by but she only acknowledged my attempt and kept walking by (so rude). I was eventually able to flag down another waiter; I told him I just want to pay and get on with my travels. As I'm conversing with him up walks the first waitress, back in her now usual frenzy and seemingly annoyed that I reached out to someone else for help. She then starts going on (in a voice that suggested she was annoyed) about how she didn't notice my payment and that's why she didn't come back for FIVE minutes. Smh. Next time I'll just go to the food court. Tip to management: Your wait staff should be more attentive than that, especially given that you're located inside of a busy airport with customers that often have to leave in a hurry in order to catch their flights. In fact, I'd argue that your wait staff should be triply attentive. The food was decent but your service needs some serious help.

A great place to enjoy a bite to eat on the run! They offer many delicious pastas. I enjoyed the shrimp portofino before my flight. The bar area is small and tight. I enjoyed this restaurant very much and I hope you do too. Enjoy! #SenorFood

I'd normally give it 3.5, but there are not many good options at this airport.

Wound up at this place on the way to my gate and figured "why not grab some breakfast?"... The "Eggs and Bacon" plate wasn't half bad. The breakfast potatoes were actually great. It's the service here that was absolute garbage. Not sure if it was because I was younger than the rest of the crowd and not in a blazer that screams "yeah....I'm important", but my waitress (Paoula?) gave me little attention. For every time she stopped by my table (three times from being seated to paying), she probably stopped at other tables 3 times. Little did she know I was on company dollar (heh) and would've tipped well had she not sucked at her job. Even told her to have a good day as I was leaving and no response.. Not even a smile. Maybe next time I'll have to rock a blazer and slacks to get some decent service.

I don't know why this chain has flourished. Meatballs on app was so spicy they were inedible. Chicken ranch had over cooked slight burned chicken. And goat cheese and pepper app had overpowering balsamic vinegar. Service stunk. Why pay the price??

!!! NOT UNLESS YOU HAVE TIME TO KILL !!! They should post a sign, "Come on in and spend some time with us." An airport restaurant shouldn't take 41-min to bring your food. Expect to spend at least an hour here unless you eat exceptionally quick. The food was just fine. Nothing exceptional. But definitely better than airport fast food. If you have 3 hours to kill in the airport. And if you don't mind mediocrity. I'd still pass this up. Yelp another place. You can do better.

I'm not a huge fan of the regular Macaroni Grill restaurants, in fact I think they're horrid. Unfortunately while in O'Hare this was one of the only places that had seating for food so I stopped in to give it a shot. The service was much better than the restaurants I have tried. Regrettably the food was not. I ordered a margharita pizza and while it looked nice it was soggy and undercooked, the dough was still raw in the middle. Part of the problem might have been that it was LOADED with nice big slices of dripping tomatoes. Can't complain about the service, beer selection was good, food was predictably poor.

Fast service but you are always aware of the turn over. I had the caprese salad to start, and the wild mushroom pizza with truffle oil. I also had a peach Bellini which was way too sweet and too large for one person. Very disappointing. Portions are on the large side so prepare to take away at least 1/2 of what you order. And with a bill of $50, it certainly wasn't on the affordable end.

Food was good. Healthy portions, but the customer service, from both the waitress and the hostess was lousy. Their attitude and attire could use some adjustments. Especially the purple/pink haired hostess that was irritated just to be at work. She needs to be replaced. Bad decision putting her as the face of your restaurant!

This is a charitable 2 star review. 1 for service, 2 for food.

Pretty much what you would expect for a restaurant in an airport. Food was ok. The appetizer pizza was actually really good (goat cheese and mushrooms). Service took forever, which is bad at an airport. We had to go searching for our waiter so we could make our flight. He kept disappearing. Probably wouldn't go back. 265/365

Food and service was good. Location of my seat was in the path of the garage hauler. He not only ran into me once but four times. I told the waiter and all I got was sorry.

Peppadews stuffed with goat cheese and drizzled with balsamic vinegar, really good house made lssagna, and a lemon cake moist with lemon zest and citrus syrup. After a long week of business travel, the food and attentive service almost made my three hour layover palatable! Kudos to Anna, whose service was attentive and efficient, and who knew how to make a decaf cappucino!

Penne Rustica. Over baked and drowned in garlic. I wondered about the disgusting garlic overload, until my stomach started reacting an hour later. My guess is that this plate of Penne Rustica has been waiting for a while to be eaten. When they finally found s sucker (yours truly), they tortured the dish with garlic to hide the age. My rating: a loud and clear "hell no!" Disclaimer - this a review for a restaurant I visited in June 2013. I just found out that I had never posted it.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
