Originally went to this place more than four years ago, and was floored by the flavor, ingredient balance, and overall taste of their tacos. Would easily make the drive to restaurant, regardless of where I was in the city, as they had some of the best tacos in the city. Now that I live less than a mile from here, ironically I have dined here so infrequently that you would think I lived in Hyde instead of Rogers Park. The quality of their food has diminished enough to where, if I searched, I am sure I would find comparable alternatives. But since an excellent taco is rarely on my must-have list, I often settle for the good-enough options here...lesser of two evils, I suppose. [Note: this review is only about their tacos.] Their veggie tacos used to come with roasted corn and peas, an excellent vegetarian pico de gallo, and seasoned rice which was light and fresh. Likewise, their tortillas were heavy enough to support their fillings, but no more--not so dense that you could eat them by themselves for a meal. Each of their meat tacos contained an easily identifiable part of an animal, with meat lightly fried and topped with enough herbs (mostly cilantro) and veggies so that each flavor of the taco came through. Flash forward a few years. Their tortillas are chewy and often stale tasting. Their meat tacos are so laden with oil that even if I knew which critter was inside the tortillas? It would just taste like greasy meat taco #1 (smothered in onions and cilantro), #2 (smothered in "sauce" and "huh?") or #3 (you do not even care at this point, you just need something reasonably non-bleh to eat)--enough of a distinction to separate the al pastor from the beef, but is that even beef in the first place? A previous reviewer mentioned the gristled quality of the "beef" in her tacos, which was accurate. I have left several of their "beef" tacos outside for street animals to munch on, as I am sure they get a bigger kick out of it than my struggling to chew the meat. The veggie tacos are so laden with bland and soggy rice that they really just seem to be a pity option for those who cannot/choose not to eat meat. Which is a shame as their veggie tacos used to be excellent. Again, I cannot vouch for the quality of their tortas. I will note, however, that whenever I have visited this place, diners seemed consistently happy with their tortas, which appeared to be well-made but pork-heavy. Plus, there are more than 100 of them, so a batting average of all of them being ick is highly unlikely. Speaking of which, they put diced ham on top of their pico de gallo. This has remained quite delicious over the years. Fingers crossed that the meat is actually ham and not Spam--or "Mystery X."

I am sitting at work right now enjoying my lunch from Rocky's Tacos. Many times I have had some good Mexican food, but Wow! I was not expecting this. The food came earlier then was expected the price was reasonable and the food. OMG the food. Big portions, fresh, not slopped together. I am so happy that I gave this place a chance. So what did I order. Well I ordered the Quesadillas for a $1 (come on how awesome is that) and the the Flautas de Pollo for $11 (not bad for a dinner). For my drink I got a Jarritos for $2.00, and get this IT WAS STILL COLD and it's 91 degrees out today. I am just saying the last few resturants I have tried have disappointed me and took my money. This place sooooooo delivered exactly what I wanted. Great Place

This is the place to pop your torta cherry if you haven't already and you're a gringa like me. The bread-oh so soft and delicious! I work in a bakery, so that's saying something. The unbelievable combination of meats, cheese, pineapple, veggies, sauce, and spices is unmatched with any other food on this planet. There's a million options to choose from, but if you close your eyes and point to something on the menu, you will not be disappointed. The horchata is creamy and delicious and I don't care if it comes from a bag or a package-it's effing good. Also, their fries are the slightly seasoned battered kind, which is the best kind in case you were unaware. I have never had their tacos because I don't give a shit about tacos in a place that delivers a gigantic cheesy melty sandwich the size of a football.

First off, they've got a menu muy grande, but there are only two reasons to come in here--the tacos and the tortas. And oh, those tortas. They sell a large version, which is laughable because the regular size is almost enough for two people. But portion generosity is just the tip of the iceberg. These sandwiches are utterly delicious. They've got several dozen varieties, many of them just variations on a theme, but then again devil is in the details. My favorites have been La Tigre (al pastor) and La Potosina (breaded pork, chiptole sauce, and queso fundido). The bread is perfect, and they put a couple of avocado slices in each sandwich. Tacos, $1.50 apiece and damn tasty. The chicken are a little greasy and the al pastor a little fatty, but the asada and chorizo are near perfection. (I'd guess that any torta made with those two meats will be great as well...someday soon perhaps I'll find out!) Ignore the red salsa and drown your chips in the green. Good stuff--somehow tastes fresher than I know it is. I love that bright tomatillo flavor. And you know what? Their guacamole is really, really good here. You get a huge container, and they don't skimp on the ingredients. I hate it when you get guacamole which had maybe a shred of cilantro or a bit of onion per three bites. With this stuff, you get all the tomato, onion, and cilantro that you can handle, all fresh and lovely. So that's THREE reasons to come to Rocky's. All that, plus advantageous prices and service with a smile? Neighborhood favorite.

I walked here to try some of the places in my area as I just moved here. I had never had a torta before and it turned out to be a delicious sandwich. the portion size was gigantic and i just got a regular sized one. they have an even larger size available. i got the le tigres which was pork. the sandwich also had avocado, lettuce and onions (cooked) on it. the bread was fresh. I didn't try the tacos but i will be back for more tortas because the menu is extensive and the prices are reasonable! $5 for a sandwich that lasted me for 2 meals. You cannot go wrong here seems like there is something for everyone!

I just moved to Rogers Park from the wasteland to the north (Wisconsin). There are a lot of small restaurants on Clark Street and the signage outside of this restaurant made it easy to find. I ordered the Carnitas burrito and a side order of Guacamole. The burrito was good but the carnitas were not the best I have ever had. They were inconsistently salted (toward the end one of the bites tasted like someone had accidentally spilled the salt shaker on the meat)! But it was still good. Much higher marks on the guacamole. Highest marks on the size. Most places charge you an arm and a leg for a little bit, but Rocky's guac was comparably much larger. It also tasted great! It was seasoned well and had chopped onions, cilantro, and tomatoes. While I was waiting for my food, I noticed on the wall some photos of their tacos. They looked fantastic. Definitely going to try them next time!

Can't figure out what the phrase 'Tortas Futboleras' in the window could possibly mean? Ever seen a stuffed-to-the-brim two page torta menu with every one named after a soccer player or play? That's what it means. It took the three of us awhile to settle on a torta amidst the list of tortas, all of which looked delicious. I actually don't remember what the tortas we ordered were called, but one had sausage, bacon, and pineapple; one had chorizo and egg, and one had ham and a whole bunch of other stuff. The third, with the unrememberable stuff, was the best, but really all of them were good, with fresh avocado and a few bottles of red and green salsa to spice to our tastes. The $5 regular size fed me for two meals - I ate the other half while lounging around at Lighthouse Beach later. I do not want to know how many meals the large size would feed me for. The only thing I wish they had was fresh fruit aguas frescas. They only have two flavors and they taste like fruit-flavored Sprite, not like the thick smoothie-like concoctions I'm used to.

My wife and I just order from this place and we both loved it. Not a whole lot to say, Mexican food is so similar it is tough to really differentiate one from the other, but they had fast delivery and good prices. I would order from them over all places in my area.

I decided to break from my usual place for Mexican on the far north side (La Cazuela) and try Rocky's Tacos. The interior of the restaurant is pretty basic, not nice but not super raggedy either like some of the taco spots in the far north end of Clark Street. I ordered tacos because I thought the tacos would be yummy (I based this on the name of the restaurant). Rocky's Tacos are the worst tacos I have ever had. I would rather have Taco Bell, at least I know the meat is beef and 10% "filler". I have no idea what type of meat was in my "steak tacos", it was more like gristle tacos. The tortillas were not even tasty. The cilantro and onion seemed to over power the flavor of the "meat". Basically the taco tasted like cilantro, onions, stale tortillas, with a surprising gristly texture. I was surprised that there were few taco options on the menu, about 90% of the menu has tortas in what seems like 100 different varieties. The tortas are not appealing to me because I do not eat pork. If you love obscene amounts of pork in one dish this place is for you. Most of their menu items seems to be tortas that have two or more different forms of pork in one sandwich. They should change their name to Rocky The Pig or Rocky's Tortas because their tacos are horrendous and potential customers will not go there thinking they have good tacos.

Following my disappointment at Harold's, I decided to try my luck at mexican food... Rocky's Taco's lured me in with their claim to "The Best Mexican Sandwiche in Chicago!" The menu is dauntingly extensive...I inquired if they had pollo asado, and the guy at the counter had this look on his face like "what is that?" So I ordered a carne asada burrito sans lettuce, tomato, beans and cheese (yes, here in Chicago they make it that way) add sour cream and guacamole (received another quizzical glance and he asked, "avocado?") My total came out to $6.56 Thinking- "Sh*t, in SD I could get 2 freakin carne asada burritos for that much...this better be good" It was :P Odd thing I noticed was the red hot sauce tasted like the kind they have @ Rubios and green hot sauce tasted like the one @ El Pollo Loco. Go figure *shrugs*

First visit today. Great torta, friendly service. Can't wait to give this place another try. (Another reviewer mentioned that they don't really offer any vegetarian options. I would second that; this is a meat palace.) The salsa verde was very spicy, and delicious.

Very average. I had a steak taco... dry and fatty. The chicken taco was.... fine. Red and green sauce... fine. Next time I would try another place on Clark.

To say that we like this place would be an understatement. After the first time we went there, we went again about 2 or 3 more times in about a month. Also, we ordered from them at least 2 more times. It's safe to say we love their food. Let's face it, you don't go to these types of restaurants and expect to be pampered by the service. You may have to go to the counter to ask the waitress for napkins before she comes to you. That doesn't make the experience any less enjoyable. The focus here is the food. So far all I've had are the tortas even though their called Rocky's Tacos. It doesn't mean the tacos are no good, but you can tell when you open the menu their specialty are the tortas. It's so great when you are curious about trying a new restaurant and the food turns out to be great. It's small, so if it's crowded forget about sitting to eat and at least order to go. If you get to eat there, there are an abundance of soccer photos and trophies to look at. Either way when we want mexican food this is our place of choice in rogers park.

  • Dan M.

I've eaten the food here many times and the food has never had a bad attitude with me. Last night I took the lady there for the first time for some take-out. I had the chicken burrito dinner, while she had the steak torta. As per the norm, my burrito was delicious. Towards the end though, it had the equivalent of a prolapsed rectum. Her "small" torta was the size of a cellphone from the 80's and she enjoyed the hell out of it. We were both full and happy. Now for the bad: I have tried to get delivery from them multiple times over the last few years. I would say that 4 out of 5 times they say they don't have a driver for that night. Never advertise delivery if you can't follow through.

Really excellent Mexican food. We've driven past this place on Clark countless times and I've always been intrigued by the advertised "Super Tortas Futboleras". After finally getting a chance to try these, I am a huge fan! The tortas are filled with authentic Mexican ingredients, filling out a light freshly-baked bread and come in a great variety - we've asked the waitress to come back twice before we could finally settle on a choice, they all sounded so great. I tried the Fresera - pork leg, bacon, avocado and cheese. It was great. The size was just right at "regular". All menu items have funny soccer-related names, including "F*** you, referee". In short, it was a very tasty and fun eating experience, I can't wait to go back and try their burritos.

So far, these are the best Tortas I have had in Chicago. If you like pork, this is he place to go. Almost every Torta has pork leg, ham, or el pastor. Even the pico de gallo has diced ham in it. It's so simple and so good. The bread has that fresh crackle to it when you pick it up, unlike most of the so called Taquerías around that just use store bought hamburger buns. These wonderful Tortas come in two sizes. Regular, which is a big samwitch, and large which should be ordered with a side of angioplasty. My personal favorite is the "Mohammed" Torta.

Well, our cher amigo mc quake j. (who truly has the bonafides (sp?) especially when it comes to Mexican food in Chicago) not only convinced me to try Rocky's for the very best Tortas/Mexican sandwiches at a very good price - he literally had me drooling.... And I was not disappointed. Now my "experience" differed from McQuake's - because I called ahead and ordered carry out - and was very pleased with the whole experience. When I called I didn't have a real menu (unless your trust menupages.com ...!) so I just took mc quake's advice and ordered the Seleccion Mexicana - which does sound monsterously over the top - but is utterly delicious! In anycase, I didn't get any of the pico de gallo with ham or the chips. And I have no idea whether or not I was over-charged... (It was still a bargain...) And you can usually find a parking space within a block. Since as a mutt, I can pass for just about any ethnic group - except Swedish - (which is kind of funny since I am part Swedish...) - I'm not sure what the experience would be like with my blonde Swedish/Scottish husband taggin' along... Only one problem: Rocky's is right next door to El Famous Burritos - which makes it hard to choose between Burritos (Steak is great!) and yummy Tortas...

Horchata- was just ok, nothing too great. taste more like melted vanilla ice cream than rice water. Chips-horrible Salsas- just O.K, they need to be given in a bowl or something. Guacamole- just O.K, too much onions and cilantro (and I love cilantro) and lettuce???? It seemed that they just tried to throw a lot of things into it to make it seem like a lot. Pico de gallo with pieces of ham???? who does that???? Carne asada tacos- NO FLAVOR Chicken tacos- boiled chicken with a hint of red chili- NOT GOOD I recommend you to stick with the tortas. oh yeah and when I got the bill, it was just a piece of paper with the amount we owed, there was no prices on the items we ordered, so I have no idea what everything costed individually.

Good, but not great -- I had the Americanista torta (chorizo, carne asada, cheese) and loved it; the wife had a veggie burrito, about which she said "all the components are good but it doesn't come together." The kids split a bowl of chicken soup that came with an entire quarter of a chicken (leg & thigh) in it, along with big pieces of carrot, potato, and corn. The chips were so-so, and the pico de gallo was nicely spicy. It came with chopped ham on it, one of those rare occasions where pork was unneccesary. Prices seemed a little high to me -- my supersized torta cost $8.50, though to be fair it also served as lunch the next day.

In dire need of a ginormous burrito? Are you a soccer fan? Do you like decent and fast Mexican at a decent price? Me too. Awesome looking tortas here. The amusing benefit of coming here though, is the magical terracotta art piece sitting on the front counter. If you look closely, you'll notice the man and woman represented have UNDERWEAR DRAWN ON THEM IN BLACK SHARPIE. I guess this makes this place kid-friendly too.

  • Elvin C.

Ok...if this is your first time going to Rocky's...or if you didn't get a torta the first time...tortas are the thing here. Bread is fresh and good combination of being sturdy enough to hold all the combinations of stuffings it might have but not so hard you have to struggle on your bite (it's enough to focus to keep your sandwich together!). My current favorite is the Chivas 2000 (smoked pork chop and egg). But there's no reason to stick to just one...rotate your faves and new sandwiches are introduced every so often. We've been getting sopes to round our meal out. Admittedly we did have one bad batch once, but it wasn't enough to stop us...the sope from the other day was best ever. Al pastor is one of our top choices for topping it, but you can have your range of kinds of steak and other options such as lengua for a little more. Open late and quick on prep, always good for a last minute dinner pickup.

Rocky's tortas are the bomb! Always super-tasty, and the bread they put them on is fantastic. The regular size is HUGE - don't go for the upgrade unless you are in a serious power eating mood. The tacos, burritos, and everything else is great as well, and service is always quick. Still can't figure out why they put chopped ham in the salsa... that one's just strange...

Very tasty!! Street meat at its finest!! The sopas are divine and best when ordered the mexican way- onions and cilantro only. Save the sour cream, cheese and americanization for another time or dish.

Rocky's tacos 7043 n clark Rocky's was our 12th stop on our journey north on clark, between devon and howard. The torta (Mexican sandwich) is the specialty here. There are a million varieties, though there are several other additional offerings available. See grubhub.com/chicago/rock… for the menu. Upon sitting we were given your typical chips, along with green and red salsas, and a super spicy little serving of pico. The chips were obviously store bought. Hard and thick. Bleh. The green salsa had a good, salty, spicy flavor. The red was hot and smoky. Chipotle. Husband felt the pico was too spicy for its own good. Too much jalapeno. And he appreciates spice. I got a large horchada. It was unlike any horchada I've had on clark. It contained no discernable cinnamon. It tasted more like vanilla pudding than anything else. It wasn't bad. Just different. The interior is kind of fun. There's a cabinet displaying soccer awards. There's a huge mural on one wall with 3D soccer balls popping out from it. There are glittery tablecloths on the tables in different colors. Friendly and bright, with cheerful Spanish language music on loud, but not too loud. I ordered a torta (the americanista?) with carne asada, cheese and chorizo. Husband got a torta (la leonosa?) with ribeye and onion. The sandwiches really do look like footballs. Big and oblong. The bread is toasted. They come with lettuce, mayo, a splash of hot sauce, a little bit of avocado. Husband was hoping the ribeye would come in one piece, but no. it was chopped. He appreciated the flavor, but didn't like all of the gristle. And he's not usually sensitive about these things. There was gristle in mine too, but it was tender enough to disappear amidst the rest of the innards. And I AM usually sensitive about gristle. The chorizo was spicy, but not overwhelming. It was nice. And so big that I couldn't finish it. Husband took 1/2 of his home. That might be, in part, though, because he also tried 2 tacos. We felt we had to compare their tacos to the others we've tried on clark. Glad we did. The pastor was lovely. Not too gristly. Great nutmeg flavor. With onion and cilantro on top. Excellent. the picadillo was good too. As husband put it 'pretty much what I want when I want a taco.' Topped with lettuce and tomato. We ordered some guacamole to round out the meal. And it proved to be the star of the show. Creamy and chunky with a great flavor. We took 1/2 of it home to savor later. Overall it was a positive experience. To quote my husband once again, "if I'm ever feelin grubbin I would definitely come back here." Rocky's almost earns 4 stars, mostly on the strength of its tacos and guac. But the amount of gristle in the meat pulls it back to 3.

This place has every single type of torta you could imagine. The one I always get is the C. Blanco. The tacos are good too. The only thing that is different about this place than others is they put chopped ham on their salsa and I have never seen that before. Definitely worth trying!

Rocky Tacos is known for its variety of tortas, named after futbòl teams in Mexico, I guess. I don't know what a torta is, and I was looking for tacos. They have tacos. The tacos are decent, but not super-standout. I like their hot sauce, got a nice heat to it, but it's not tears in my eyes hot (and nobody wants that anyway). So I give it a three out of five, only because the cilantro has to be requested, which doesn't sit quite right with me.

Went here for cinco de mayo with my wife and another couple! Expecting it to be slammed. It was not surprisingly! We sat right down and ordered. I got the pork tacos. They were amazing! The food came out pretty quick but didn't get our waters refilled. After eating those spicy tacos would have loved to wash it down with some water. Overall good experience. Good food. Great prices! Will be returning soon!

Too bad they can't speak English, because it's pretty good.

The tortas were good even though they forgot to put the milanesa inside, the orchata & Jamaica were horrible water down. The servers were polite and friendly but the owner or person in charge was very rude when I gave him my comment it wAs like a slap on the face to him he said they don't make mistakes like that the so he said. He got a little loud that's when one of the server step in and told him that they did forget and the water was the last in the machine so they added some water to get my order out. Well in conclusion this will be my last time going to this location but I still the location on Montrose.

Great food! Love the Tortas..When it comes to Mexican food, there's a variety of restaurants me and my fiancé visit. But when ever we want to eat Tortas we usually order from Rocky's. So far the staff is been great and really friendly:) We have been to both locations Montrose and Clark!

Really disappointed in this place. Yes I know, I know: Mexico has a heavily meat-based culture. Why am I expecting good veggie food at a taco joint? Well, for starters, I can walk into any number of taquerias around the city and be presented with some really tasty veggie tacos, exploding with fresh ingredients. Not here. There are veggie tacos available, but they are mostly comprised of flavorless rice that manages to be dry and greasy at the same time. The salsa verde was okay, but they even put bits of ham in the pico de gallo! Sigh... However, the hubby was happy enough with his torta. Tortas are their specialty (even though they are called Rocky's TACOS). They have 100 of them on the menu, (yes, I counted), mostly pork with not a token veggie offering in the lot. Ok, fine. I understand. They don't want my kind there. I can accept that. But I do feel compelled to warn my fellow taco-loving veggies not to bother.

Just try it. They have THE MOST AWSOME sandwiches here. A selection unlike anything you have ever seen. Plus chips & ham/cilantro/onion/jalapeño salsa for your chips. Yes, I said ham. They have tacos too, but I am too busy working my way down the sandwich menu. I only came here because my favorite tamale place in the world was closed. (Tamales Lo Mejor de Guererro). You should too.

I just move literally right around the corner from this place. It's a great late night snack place. Their food is well put together and taste great. I lived there for about a month now and so far I've been there about 4 times. And I will continue going there if they continue serving me tasty good food.

I felt so bad for the waitress. It was probably her first day and it seemed that they didn't even train her. The food was not enjoyable at all. The torta my boyfriend had was not good. I couldn't even eat my meal. The chicken tacos were not seasoned and was cold. The rice and beans that they served was not authentic. I don't understand why they have good reviews. Not going back for there that's for sure!

Hola guacamole amigos and amigas! By far the best, fresh, delicious house made guac in Rogers Park. Given all the Mexican restaurants in the vicinity that's saying something very good about Rocky's. We've been loving Rocky's guac for years, taking it home, eating it in, and lugging it to Ravinia. Their good, fresh chips (sometimes so fresh they're still hot) make the experience complete. Oddly enough, we've not tried anything else. Given the exceptional reviews for their apparently sometime unique, interesting futbol tortas, we'll definitely eat a few full meals here to verify through our own experiences. Thanks Yelpers. We're looking forward to this. Hasta luego, Peter O. and S.

The service is top shelf and the torta's are of matching quality! So many to choose from. I had the "Chicago Fire" and I had to come back the next day to try another!! It's my new fav local place cooking up authentic Mexican food.

So many tortas to choose from as of now I have not been disappointed . The tacos are not bad but are not as good as the tortas , the salsa that they give is really good

They have creative names for something like a Mexican scramble (sans eggs). There salsa and guacamole was goooood. I had the Flautas, which were a little overdone on the ends, but were packed full of chicken so I forgive em that. All in all, I like the soccer theme, although it would have been great to have the tv's on with some Futbol playing in the background. Next time, I'm going to try a Torta, which looked freakin amazing from the other table!

Okay, I had flautas here and was pretty unimpressed. They were so fried and greasy, and the chicken was extra bland. The salsa was on point though, so that's part of why I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 2. Staff was also so kind and courteous to us. My friend and I ran in here during a rainstorm and stayed to eat while we waited for it to pass. The gal working the counter was super friendly and knowledgeable and helped us with directions after our meal. I think it would be worth trying again, but I wouldn't recommend the flautas!

I use to be in love with this place, the vibe, food, service, the owner is amazing. Ranted and raved this place to all my friend and family until I returned back one day and had horrible service with the wrong order. But the icing on the cake is that I just had a newborn baby less than 3 weeks old and she was placed in her car seat strapped in on top of the high chair and the waitress knocked down the entire high chair with my baby in her car seat. As a first time mom, I will never return back to this place because of this experience. Food use to be great, service sucks and not to mention the safety and well being of my daughter was jeopardize because of a waitress' poor judgement and inability to pay attention.

They have about a million Tortas, each named after a Footbol team, and each one I've tried has been perfectly executed.

OMG these tortas are very delicious! I love the Maradona! My favorite!!!! Too bad I don't live in Chicago anymore or else I would be there every week! You guys should open one in California, people would love it here!!! tRUST me!!! Especially the area where I'm at, not too many good Mexican restaurants.

The quality of the meat is so bad. No flavor whatsoever. If you need something late and night and dont mind waking up sick the next day then go for it.

The absolute best tortas that you will ever eat!!! Huge selection and amazing taste. Guacamole is so tasty! They also have complimentary salsa and chips when you dine in. The salsa is amazing, it has tiny diced up ham. So good! First time I ever had a torta was here. After that I tried tortas several other places and none come even close to compare!

I used to really enjoy coming to this place for Mexican food. It seems like every time I come in to this small soccer themed restaurant my order is not as I asked. Its usually my to go stuff too. I really dislike beans or hot stuff and once I've come home to enjoy dinner, yes, they have added it to my meal EVEN though I requested it not to be on there. I keep coming back because the food is a lot better than most north side Mexican food. They have so many choices that it makes your head spin. I will try to be as patient as I could be next time I order.

With so many Mexican places on Clark alone, it is hard to pick one. Pick this place based off the yelp reviews and was not disappointed I got the steak tacos from here and my wife for the steak tostadas. Both were very good. We will definitely go back to this place again.

This place has the best tacos! You can't go wrong with the ground beef cilantro and onion combo. The seasoning is impeccable and I can't wait to order from them again.

Rocky's Tacos is one of my favorite places in Rogers Park. Everything I've had there has been delicious but I love their tortas, and they have tons of them to choose from. They have a very relaxed atmosphere and it is great for take out. Don't forget to order an horchata.

Very extensive torta menu. These are heavy duty. Lots of different combinations of meat and in big portions.

The menu is huge and a bit overwhelming with the tortas, so I played it safe with a Carne Asada based torta called A. Pavon. I live about 1/2 mile away. They said delivery would take an hour and it arrived in 25 minutes. It would be easy for the sandwich to get all messed up in transit, but it was pristine and beautiful. I ordered the large torta, and it was perfect to fill me up. There's a dozen mexican places right down the street on Clark, and this is a good choice.

I may not be able to pronounce the items on the menu, but I sure as hell want to try all of them. Generous portions all delicious. The Cubana style sandwiches are just amazing. Dine in or take out. ..either way you will be happy.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
