I've been trying to get here for months, and I've finally made it!!!! I had 2 ribeye steak tacos w/lettuce, onion, & cilantro on corn shells. Food came out straight off the grill. So hot it was almost too hot to pick up, but that's exactly how I like my food!!! Service was fast & they were friendly. I'm going back for sure. I also wanna try their hamburgers. **** RED SALSA WAS THE BOMB****

Great inexpensive Mexican food joint. I'm a taco gal so I ordered the al pastor and carne asada tacos, which were the perfect amount of food to fuel me for an afternoon of sightseeing in downtown. Mind, Raymond's Tacos (I don't know if it is alternatively known as Raymond's Hamburgers hence the Yelp name?) is by no means healthy--they saturate their taco tortillas with oil, making for no-nonsense, greasy grub that hits the spot. I think each taco was $2.25, so $5 for a filling lunch is a win in my book.

Total hole in the wall Been coming here for years since some family used to live in this hood. The food is good, the service is nice and the prices are unbeatable. Two things in the menu for me: burritos de asada y tacos de asada with american cheese. And if yes that is unusual and not as authentic as many would argue, it works for me. Chopped up steak and onions on two tortillas with a slice of melted american cheese in between, topped with lettuce and tomato. Weird? yes. Good? you bet. Service always nice and chill. So don't expect them to bend backwards to serve you. Last time I was there waiter actually sat at the table with us to take the order. I thought that was super cool.

Good tacos! Left the tomato and lettuce off of one (don't know why), but overall, really good. Prices are decent too. Fast service. Oh, and the salsa is terrific.

Located in little village and by faaaar some of THE best tacos in Chicago. I swear it's the tortillas. Luckily I live on the opposite side of town, otherwise my cravings for Raymond's tacos would be infinite. I forget if it regularly comes topped with queso, lettuce and tomato. If so, ALWAYS REQUEST for your tacos to be garnished with cilantro and onion Only! That's the ONLY way to eat a real taco!

As a kid a remember my dad taking me to this place. I hated it, I wanted to go to McDonalds's near the intersection of Kedzie and 26th. But now I love it and go at least twice a month. If it's been 2 weeks and no Raymond's, I become a crab ass. I always get my usual. Steak burrito everything on it, no tomato, extra cheese (yes ladies and gentlemen 2 slices of American cheese), an RC, & a order of fries. You want to know what is the weirdest part? Now I bring my daughter just like my dad took me an yes, she hates it. I have a gut feeling that history will indeed repeat itself with my grandchildren in the distant future. The cooks know me, I always leave a tip and they hook it up with a little extra now and then.

A friend told me about this spot and I went there for the first time on 11/7/12. Ordered the steak tacos with onions, which were really good! Nice neighborhood joint for Mexican food. I will go back when I'm in the area!

All I have to say is American cheese on tacos is not for me. I have had better tacos down the street. There are the restaurants on California and Cermak that serve much better tacos. Just saying.

This is actually Raymond's Tacos and Hamburgers #1; #2 is the one on Blue Island. I was here with a friend today and we both got some tacos and double cheeseburgers. The taco shells were a tad on the greasy side, but the char grilled steak was perfection! The cheeseburgers were excellent as well. This place tends to be a little too small for comfort - there's a counter and four booths. We were lucky that we managed to get a booth just as a customer was about to leave. Service was good given the crowd size and the number of employees working. The one critique I have is regarding their beverage sizes - there seems to only be one size if you get the lemonade, fruit punch, or horchata, which seems to be somewhere between a small and a medium. You will get thirsty, so plan on ordering more beverages as your meal progresses. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely check this place out - but plan on getting your food to go on the weekends. EDIT 2/22: I stopped by here and it was a busy Friday night for them... I had to wait more than fifteen minutes for my order (there were several large orders including one guy who ordered 20 tacos for 'taco night'); still, they were efficient and moved as quickly as they could. Their hours are from 8AM to 12AM.

The food is not that good. If I wanted to eat grease then I would've gotten a spoon and ate from a grease can. There was no flavor, and they used american cheese. Where they do that at? I could've made a taco at home that tasted better than the ones at had there. But, the people were fast and friendly, and the area was comfortable.

Me and two of my coworkers have a New Years Day tradition. We hit Raymond's on Cermak for some steak tacos. If you made a New Year's resolution to eat healthy, these tacos will leave that resolution unconscious in an alley with its pants around its ankles and bleeding from its ass...they may be the most unhealthy thing on the planet. But they are ridiculously good! Plus, they have the ability to reach back thru time and erase past hangovers. Getting the cheese is a must! Putting a slice of pasteurized, processed, American cheese-like product on tacos might seem like a sacrilege to some, but they are the key to making the whole concoction work! They put the slice between the tortillas. This acts as a binding agent and holds everything in place. The only thing is, they put onions in with the meat. If you don't like onion, make sure to let them know when you order.

While the morning rapidly grew colder and colder, as if Zeus suddenly summoned a mighty wind down California Avenue, only the quest to find a restaurant -any restaurant - open early for breakfast gave me any incentive to soldier on. Was there a hashhouse hidden along this gray/black stretch near the Cook County Courthouse? Perhaps a greasy spoon could give me something I didn't have to look at, but could easily swallow to stay fortified. Maybe...just maybe, there was a friendly tacqueria that would welcome this Spanish-language-challenged stranger in his time of need. OK, this may sound like a bit much but when you fall down the rabbithole and begin a day on jury duty with no lunch in hand and undetermined hours in court ahead, you want food fast and fulfilling. After a fruitless walkdown down California, I head east on Cermak. Two guys walk out of Raymond's. It couldn't hurt for me to walk in. Great call. As I enter, I can hear the sizzle of chicken and steak strips coming from the grill behind the counter along with the words "Kobe Bryant." It is the only English I hear for a minute. Smiling guys at the counter are getting that delicious sounding meat put into taco as I wait to order. The TV is on ESPN Deportes, but sports is a universal language, right. I order. No problem, of course. Everybody's bilingual but us native born gringos. I don't know if this is Raymond behind the counter making my pollo and al pastor tacos, but it wouldn't surprise me. He knows his requlars, possibly family, and in a second my food is ready to go. Nice. I rationed those tacos over two days just in case. Raymond's came through at a time of need. I'll definitely be back to try the burgers.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
