I really wish there were Pret A Manger's in California! I love love love their food and drinks. I don't remember which sandwiches and wraps I've tried but the most recent and most memorable one is the hoisin duck salad wrap. Everything tastes super fresh and they definitely don't skimp on the meat! I also love their sodas! I think my favorites are the pure pret orange and the pure pret grape and elderflower. I only get to go to Pret when I'm on vacation so I didn't get to try their soups and hot foods but want to try those eventually!

Stop by every once in awhile for breakfast or lunch. For breakfast I usually get a coffee and/or croissant. I've seen breakfast sandwiches with egg and bacon/sausage and oatmeal. Coffee is pretty good. Lunch offers more food options from sandwiches, wraps, salads and soups. Every once in awhile they introduce new menu items like the new salad with lobster and avocado. They also have a ton of small snacks ranging from fruit, nuts, bars and sweets. Every time I visit I can count on fresh consistent food choices and more importantly friendly service. This location gets pretty busy in the AM and PM. At the same time, I've never seen this location in bad shape. It is always stocked and cleaned.

I will keep this brief- This was my go-to lunch place as it is very close to my office....until I found a live critter crawl out of my Maine Lobster salad. Sorry Pret, I didn't want that extra protein.

Yet another place I'm suckered into. I visited for breakfast today, and enjoyed it! Everything from the organic coffee to the bacon and egg sandwich was fresh! I'm pretty particular about my breakfast foods so I was a little leery buying a sandwich from here. I also tried their double chocolate croissant after a coworker raved relentlessly about their almond butter croissant. Both desserts were great pick-me-ups for a midday snack. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough. Needless to say, I would go back but this time for a heavier entree for lunch/dinner.

I've been a Pret fan since living in London nearly 15 years ago, and frequent this location because it's a hop and a skip out of my office door. Sandwiches, soups, and salads are always fresh and inventive. The problem? Value seems to have diminished overtime. Pret is able to charge a premium thanks to the convenience it offers patrons, but I've noticed that sandwich and salad fillings have gotten slimmer and smaller, which is disappointing. Even still, try the wraps. The falafel and salmon are my favs, and are just enough to get you through to dinner time.

I forgot my lunch today and went to Pret a Manger next door, because I knew they had low calorie, healthy salads and wraps. I found a sandwich that looked really good, but I couldn't have the bread that it came on. I asked the manager if he could make it into a wrap. He said no, that they weren't allowed to change recipes. I asked if he could give me a tortilla so I could do it myself. He said no. I asked if he could sell me a tortilla. He said no. He said he could lose his job if he changed anything. So he let me leave to go buy my lunch somewhere else, instead of making one small change so I could have a lunch that fit into my dietary restrictions. Don't know that I want to go back there now.

I so wish I could give half stars. This place is about a 2.5. It's very close to my office and I've stopped in a number of times for something to drink or an afternoon crunchy snack. Today I stopped in for lunch. I got a veggie sandwich with avocado. I wasn't blown away. The bread was probably less then Pepperidge Farm quality and there really wasn't much flavor to the somewhat skimpy fillings. I know a veggie sandwich can be flavorful and piled high with goodness, but this one just wasn't. I still like the place for that afternoon crunchy snack because it's super convenient and the people who work there are always so pleasant. I just think I'll pass on the sandwich.

I wanted to eat some soup and feel souper as advertised. I went in and bought a regular chipotle black bean soup. The description sounded like the perfect, flavorful and fulfilling soup. Got back to my desk. Not really a soup. More like a puree. Very few actual beans present. Oh, I almost forgot. I wanted it to taste like something and have some texture, so I put some fritos in there. I then had black puree that sometimes had the taste and crunch of fritos if dug them out with my spoon. After 3 really unsatisfying bites, I tossed it. UPDATE. I had to get the bowl out of my desk trash because its fragrance was disturbing to others. Upon inspection, I found that perhaps the texture of the soup was more a result of over cooking under the warmer in the store than just a complete and utter failure. I do remember the bowl being particularly warm when I picked it up. Why it is completely deficient in flavor I can not explain.

I love this place because it is convenient, fresh & delicious food, in healthy portions for a fair price. This is a place I frequent for lunch when I do not care to blow all of my day's calories on a workday lunch. I have had several sandwiches, chili, soups, the coffee...everything is tasty and I am never disappointed. The lines at lunch move quickly and people are friendly. I'm a big fan for what it is--healthy fast food. If you want cheap unhealthy food--go to McDonalds; if you want a fancy sit down lunch, go someplace else. But if you are looking for the healthy, tasty lunch that you should have packed the night before and brought to work but were too lazy and you don't want to blow your diet, then stop at Pret A Manger

Eeh. This place really confused me. First off, I'm not a big fan of pre-packaged food. When I found this place on yelp I somehow didn't get the fact that everything was pre-made. My husband and I came here around 5:30 pm (1.5 hrs before closing) so apparently they didn't have as big a selection as normal. To eat my hubby and I both got the buffalo chicken wraps and they were not really what we were expecting. They weren't necessarily bad it was just more of marinara sauce then a buffalo sauce to us. Luckily the girl who was helping us was really nice and helpful and when she realized we didn't love the wraps helped us pick our something else. I ended up getting a ham and egg sandwich which was actually probably worse than the wrap (it was pretty plan) but I felt bad so I stuck it out. Overall, Would I come back? Maybe, but probably not. I guess I would if I was in a super hurry.

Good & fresh but a bit overpriced for being a store that sells a bunch of pre-packed sandwiches.

There service here is awesome and the food is always tasty and fresh. I'm a big fan of their soups and breakfast baguettes. Sandwiches were okay but nothing I'm raving about. I'll have to try a salad one day - they look delicious.

Was downtown with my friend and our two babies so we stopped in for some lunch. We asked if they had high chairs, just curious, no big deal, but were told they did not. Okay no worries the babes would stay in the stroller. We went to sit down to eat and the manager came up with fresh baked cookies for the "kids" aka the moms :) to apologize for not having high chairs. Their service was above and beyond which was greatly appreciated, not to mention their fresh and fast food was delicious. At the end of every day the unused food gets donated, that's a pretty epic concept. Right on Pret a Manger, right on.

Was so excited when this place opened in the States, hoping it would be a reminder of quick airport meals in Europe. Sadly, the foreign airports have tastier sandwiches than this one, plus there's something about overpaying in airports that's okay, and not quite as alright in Chicago. A tuna baguette sandwich with cucumber, a bag of chips and an iced tea for almost $11 is a bit steep.

This was my first time here! Had the Organic/Avocado Sandwich, Honey Tangerine Juice, Pomegranate Honey Yogurt...

I was trying to memorize what sandwich shop I ate at in Downtown Chicago when my cousins brought me to go sight seeing and bam here I am. This is a neat little sandwich shop, I suppose it's a franchise business considering there's a lot of them around Chicago. We came here right after we found a parking spot and were deciding quickly on where to go eat for lunch since we were all hungry after that one hour drive to the city. I like franchise businesses like these where it's all freshly made, packed and ready to go although I do like other sandwich shops that are made right to order. This place isn't bad, it's like a fast food sandwich shop where you just grab and go. They have soups packed and laid out on this heating rack so it's piping hot when you purchase it and ready to eat. Also sandwiches/salads all packaged and neatly placed out for anyone to grab. But I went to this shop when I was in Chicago over the summer of 2013 so theres probably been a lot of changes and more items added on to the menu that I haven't tried and I probably won't even be able to try anytime soon since I live so far, haha.

I love Pret! The nutrition labels are presented, the food is made fresh daily, and the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable.

  • Kristy H.

This is my favorite Pret in the loop and I've tried four of them now. I enjoy their sandwiches and the grab and go atmosphere. Minus one star for being a little pricey especially since the sandwiches are not organic. I like to eat here and people watch the fools like me walking to and from work on LaSalle :-)

Value for $. Service is always nice, pleasant and friendly. Remodeled space is warm and comfortable. The new door accommodates the in/out crowd that picks up quick meals.

Pret does a really good job of providing fresh sandwiches, pastries, salads and coffee. Everything is laid out nicely and their stores are clean and sharp looking. Nothing in hee is going to blow you away, but it is certainly better than the crap at Starbucks, or the other coffee chains. Their cookies are even freshly baked and warm. Check it out sometime, you will be pleasantly surprised. I always am.

  • Patrick J.

They make everything fresh and keep on it. Every night they take the remaining stuff too local food pantries. I had a fine cold soup-sweet pea and mint. I actually visited 4 times in 5 days. I love it. They have a fine ginger soda. Their coffee is so-so but that is the only less than stellar offering

I sometimes miss the UK. Pret A Manager reminds me of Heathrow. The manager of this location is actually from across the pond. So that helps. Their Mediterranean Lentil Soup is my favorite. Mozzarella, Roasted Tomato & Pesto sammy. With Salt & Vinegar crisps of course. I respect their business model as they donate the food every night that is not purchased.

  • Sara P.

Wow, does this place get crowded at lunch time. When you walk in, there is a crowd of people rummaging through the case usually. But the rummaging is for a reason; the food is good! I LOVE the egg salad sandwich here. I have also had the mac and cheese with sausage in it and it was good if a bit rich. The orange canned soda is alright. I also have tried the brownie bite, which tasted a bit like fudge and small enough for a nice snack. Prices are not cheap, but oh man, that egg salad sandwich. Might go for lunch today...third time this week...I have a problem. :)

MMM this is my first time here for lunch and I really like it. We came around 115ish in the afternoon and it was still packed! My fiance and I were very surprised since we thought the lunch hour rush would have been gone by now. They have some prepared food on the left side and if there isnt anything you like you can order up front. I had a buffalo chicken wrap and I am going to say it is AMAZING! I love how they have the calorie count for each food they serve. My buffalo chicken wrap was small, but it was filling for me. And I'm going to say it again, it was amazing! My fiance ordered a California club sandwich and he thought it was okay - the norm. We also had a medium size cup of New England clam chowder and that was yummy. We also had chips, and that was okay. I wish they have more variety for chips. There were only BBQ, sea salt, and salt & vinegar. They also have popcorn.

Not every lunch has to be an amazing, ungodly tasty, calorie-splosion special event. Like, is it great to do Slurping Turtle once in while and pig out on a giant bowl of ramen? Yes. Do I wish I had the time, money, and metabolism to scarf a giant Xoco torta every day? Of course. Would I turn down a long, lazy sushi-and-saki feast on a Friday before a holiday or long weekend? Please. But most days are just normal Tuesdays and I need to just grab something yummy that doesn't require a ton of effort, money, or time. For those days, Pret is exactly what I need. I don't have to wait in a long ass line to customize my salad or fight the throngs at Protein Bar or Hannah's. I just scan the cooler, grab whatever sounds good, and I'm out the door. And no, the food isn't "amazing." It's a damn sandwich, and I could probably make a better one at home if I had the to grocery shop and prep and do all those things no one ever had the time for. But it's fresh, it's tasty, and it's not 1,000 calories and going to put me into a food coma. I think the prices are totally fair. If you want to pay $2 for a sandwich, go to 7-11. I'll pay $5 and enjoy it. Or rather, I'll pay $9 and enjoy a half sandwich, side of quinoa salad, and chips. How is that a rip-off again?

I was sooo glad when the first Pret opened up by the Sears Tower I made a 15 minute walk over there. Now this location pops up just around the corner from my office! Pret was a staple for me when I was in London a few years ago, glad they crossed the pond. Call me crazy, but one of my favorite things is how they put the Calories on the label next to each sandwich. Such a great selection of fresh healthy eats, and a friendly staff. Cheerio!

It's finally Friday, the sun is shining bright, the winter temperatures are slowly starting to fade into {somewhat} spring, and I am slightly hungover. Oof! My hangovers always come with a big side of hunger pains that turn me into a hungry, hungry hippo. I needed food. Immediately. Because I was unable to pry myself away from the Japanese tsunami/earthquake footage this morning, I was 20 minutes late for work but my grumbly tummy pulled me into Pret a Manger as I walked past. I was craving ham and cheese on a croissant and needed it fast. The only thing I could find in their grab-n-go coolers was a hard boiled egg and ham sandwich on wheat bread. Close enough! I had eaten at Pret a few times before and always thought their food was average. It's kind of expensive, but I like that all of the food is organic and fresh. I also like that they show the calorie counts and ingredients on their signage. Still, I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get the food that I was craving. The hungry beastie cannot be denied!! The hard boiled egg and ham sandwich was phenomenal. For realsies! It was so good that I'm contemplating walking back to Pret for another. The eggs were fresh and sprinkled with pepper. The ham was just the right amount of smokey pork goodness to compliment the eggs. And just for kicks there was a spicy brown mustard on the bread. So simple. So delicious. I'm going to recreate this sandwich at home. Every day.

The sandwiches/wraps/salad/soups are well made, fresh and creative for this next-generation "Horn and Hardarts," and there are many healthful options. Yes, it is pricey, and occasionally there is some inconsistency in portion, but overall the price is justified by the quality, e. g., fresh shrimp wrapped with spinach/cilantro/red bell pepper/cucumber/spicy chili sauce; lobster roll; fresh gazpacho; Vietnamese chicken sandwich, tomto feta soup, are all excellent. My only gripe with this location is the staff. Past managers and staff were cheerful, pleasant, welcoming. Current group is dominated by people (not all) who seem like they don't like their customers much. Can't explain the shift in attitude, but it's a turnoff. Time to try other locations.

This place wins big on convenience. Diners can pick from prepackaged grab-and-go salads, sandwiches, wraps, soups, etc., which plainly display the nutrition information. Thus, even when crowded, you can get in and out in a couple minutes. The menu items are also of a higher quality and healthier nature than most downtown lunch spots. That being said, you will certainly pay more than at most downtown lunch spots and also receive less food (the portions are by no means large). To illustrate, a modestly-sized wrap and a small soup comes in at about $12, and that is while buying your food in the same way you would at a 7-11: pre-made and off the shelf. Protein Bar, in comparison, makes their wraps larger, to-order, and with fresher ingredients, and actually charges less for it.

  • Kate M.

I like. I met a fellow yelper for lunch here and was pleasantly surprised to see a very wide variety of pre-made sandwiches and salads. I have some dietary restrictions, and normally sandwiches are tough to find without cheese and/or tomato on them, but, I saw a couple that fit the bill. There are cold sandwiches and some hot that are warmed up and brought to your table after you pay. I had the Thai avocado sandwich and some pepper potato chips (I have no idea why I picked the pepper ones, I hate pepper). Surprisingly for a pre-made sandwhich is was fresh and crisp where it should have been. If you're picky and always alter your order, Pret A Manger might not be for you. Everything is pre-made. Which is great if you're in a hurry and just want to grab a quick and tasty bite. Not so great if you're uber picky. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can make the walk to Pret A Manger more often.

  • Katherine H.

I come here often because it's close to work. Overpriced for what it is, but I like that it's healthy-ish and they donate leftover to homeles.

    (4)
  • Linda T.

respect their concept-no sell by dates + donate all the food that didnt sell out instead of leaving it overnight to be sold the next day... but...food wasnt that great. if you want a quick, fast bite to suppress your hunger...this will do.

  • Angela K.

Excellent quality and portioned correctly...I wish more Americans could recognize good things with food when they see it or try it. More doesn't always mean better. I grab a sandwich here and am glad that I don't have to worry about it being bad for me or that I will eat too much. I usually get the slim chicken mozzarella with arugula and balsamic. Just tried the tomato feta soup-yummo! Glad to have this as a choice for lunch in the Loop!

  • Sabrina M.

Maybe I'm the only one, but Pret a Manger always leaves me pissed off. Why? Because if I pay $7-9 for a sandwich I don't want to still be hungry when I finish eating it because it was only large enough to feed a small toddler in the first place. There's never a time I've eaten here that I didn't say to myself: "I coulda had a $5 footlong" (apologies to V-8 AND Subway...) Now, the little things that basically amount to finger sandwiches are good. But, alas, we are not in the U.K. This is lunchtime in urban America, people. Give me something that's gonna fill me up and get me through the rest of the day. Won't happen at Pret A Manger -- you'll just leave there hungry and something close to broke...

    (2)
  • Phil X.

Lots of pre-made warm / cold sandwiches ready for consumption. Great coffee / tea selection with prices cheaper than Starbucks. I picked up a Falafel wrap from the warm sandwich shelf along with a small cup of Chai. Both were great. Almost everything here looked healthy and fresh! Great place to stop by for a meal before attending a traffic court hearing at the Daley Center! (I'm just sayin')

  • Dusty K.

Pret A Manger is upscale airport food. When you have the time and a city like Chicago at your doorstep, I have no idea why people eat here. Everthing is prepacked, premade and ready to be picked up without much hassle. It's the type of place I'd love in any airport where I want a fresher option than standard fast food. I like the concept just not in Chicago. Definitely a pass.

    (2)
  • M H.

I love this place in the mornings! I stop by almost every day for an espresso drink and breakfast. This place goes for the natural/organic concept and they have a variety of pastries, sandwiches, and oatmeal to choose from. A HUGE bonus is that you can get a cappuccino, mocha, etc for way cheaper than Starbucks down the street and they don't charge extra for soy milk. The two girls in the morning are so nice and friendly, they keep me coming back so kudos to them!

I never really knew much about Pret a Manger until very recently. I'd never really heard of it until my husband told me there was one by his office that he'd sometimes go to. It was the only Pret a Manger in Chicago. Then.... then I saw that they were opening a second location on the street where I work. And one day I happened to walk past it at lunch time, so I gave it a try. I was a little iffy because when you walk in, on one side there are just shelves of food. Premade food. Just sitting there. And on the other side was seating. Usually if I can I will always ask a deli or restaurant to make something fresh for me, because I don't like food that is just sitting there. You can't do this at Pret a Manger. No custom orders. You just take what you want off the shelf. Then you take it over to the registers to check out. I took my order to go and went back to the office. I got the Chicken & Avocado Salad (Murray's grilled chicken, avocado, cranberries, walnuts, tomato, baby leaf, Pret's seasoning). Pret a Manger says "Our salads are freshly made using Earthbound Farm organic romaine lettuce and baby leaf blends (like a luxury cruise nothing ruins a salad more than running into a bunch of icebergs). The salad was tasty. I'd go back. I thought all of the ingredients were fresh tasting.. they must turn the product on those shelves over really fast. Pret a Manger is based out of London and it's name comes from the French "pret a manger," meaning "ready to eat." They use all natural ingredients and their food is made fresh the day of purchase in the location where it is sold. The company was founded in 1986 and 85% of their business is in London. They have been expanding rapidly in the past several years, though. They now have 10 stores in Hong Kong, 24 in New York, 3 in Washington, D.C., and 2 in Chicago.

Worth every penny! Pret A Manger is a British import whose claim to fame is freshly prepared organic lunch and breakfast fare. Everything I've tried here is tasty AND healthy and if this were a person I would give it a giant hug because I love Pret so! The staff is always super nice, they have vegan options as well as meat options and plenty of dairy-free in between. The rotation of soups changes daily and while it is pricier than a lot of sandwich shops, you are paying for fresh food without gross additives. Staff is always nice, and their drinks are yummy! Try the ginger beer- it's better than Reed's if you like ginger, and the strawberry lemonade tastes just like the one that Wishbone makes! Which is nice if you love their strawberry lemonade but aren't by either of their locations. Go here!

  • Heidi R.

Went to Pret for lunch the other day. I wasn't really sure what to expect but my friend said it was a place I would love. I was taken back because everything is already premade and ready to go. It's a good concept, nice and quick for people on the run. I guess I really didn't appreciate the take and go atmosphere since we were sitting down to eat. I just had the chicken cob salad, it tasted good but for the price I paid I don't think it was really worth it. The salad was small, in a cardboard box and the ingredients were skimpy. I do, however, like how they give their food away to the homeless at the end of each day. That's really giving back to society. I doubt I'd ever go back to Pret - way too many better options in this city.

  • Allison W.

Okay, so I'm pretty sure I eat more of my meals at Pret than I do at home, and I'm pretty sure that would be true even if I didn't work approx. 10 feet away from the entrance of the store. Pret A Manger (or "ready to eat" in French) is with out a doubt the BEST fast food option I've even encountered downtown - and let me tell you I've been around the block. For those who aren't familiar with the concept, Pret pre-makes delicious, organic food items of a wide variety to be stocked on their shelves throughout the day - all you have to do is pick and pay! Their sandwiches are all unique with options like the Vietnamese Baguette or the Cheddar and Crunchy Veggies Bloomer (a personal favorite). Their salads pretty much rock my world too (I always go for the Chicken & Avocado Salad). For a hot lunch, grab a BBQ Pulled Pork Hot Wrap or a Tuna & Swiss Melt. Don't forget their soups in the winter - try the Turkey Chilli first and then go down the list. If you're like me and don't have the time (or the interest) to eat at home at 6:30am, stop into Pret for their organic steel cut oatmeal or one their incredibleee Yogurt Pots and a freakin' awesome cup of freshly brewed Organic Fair Trade coffee! (Don't be one of the suckers who walk the extra block to the Starbucks just to wait in a long line and pay far too much for an over-brewed burnt cup of coffee!) Furthermore, treat yourself to a magical warm, flaky croissant - if you're lucky you'll get there right as they come out of the oven! Pret A Manger might be one of the best fast food options, but it surely not the cheapest. To me though, I'd much rather pay a little extra for a fresh, delicious, healthy salad or sandwich instead of getting another dang Subway sandwich. Finally, I'd like to give a big shout out to the wonderful staff at Pret who now know my name, my usual order, and the lastest news of my love life - y'all make my days brighter!!

I don't understand all the hype surrounding this place. It's over priced prepackaged food with incredibly small portions for what you pay. Yeah it's good, but when I pay 6-9 dollars for a sandwich, I expect to be full afterward.

  • Susan F.

Came back and tried a the Chicken & Avocado Salad. It was excellent. I got the lemon salad dressing too which was light, sweet, and not too tart at all! The bad thing is that they charge you .75 for the dressing. Bummer! There was a whole avocado in there, plenty of cranberries, seasoned chicken, and a surprisingly deep amount of mesclun lettuce. I would suggest dumping it in a bowl if you can, kind of hard to mix it in the square box it comes in.

Cheap, fast, and a realy good selection. Positioned directly across the street from work I thought this place would be too expensive and weird. Sandwich was great (tomato, mozz, and chicken). Will be going back.

Friendliest service I've encountered downtown. Freshest foods too. Very good "toasties" that have fantastic ingredients. If you're in the loop looking for a quick lunch, give it a try.

This is a great place to grab some lunch on the run, especially since I only have a 3o minute break. I had the Balsamic Chicken and Avocado. It was tasty and filling. In addition, I like that the company donates all of the left over food of the day to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Not to mention, the other positive initiatives the company strives for in health and sustainability.

I finally got around to trying this place after wondering about the one on Adams every time I went to Union Station. I've tried a vegetable wrap and a sort of vegetable baguette sandwich. Most of the things that looked appetizing to me had stickers promoting the new lighter items for summer so I kind of wonder what I would have gotten in the winter. It seemed very vegetarian friendly though, even though one of the employees kept trying to steer me toward chicken dishes. She meant well. My boyfriend doesn't like this place because he says it's representing itself as healthy food but a lot of the items are high in sugar and blah blah blah. My opinion is that for something so quick and relatively inexpensive, it's more or less ideal for those days when you don't have a lot of time. The food is good. It's both tastier and healthier than Potbelly or something. (Sorry Potbelly, I still love you.)

  • Sarah M.

When I get homesick, coming here helps. Good, healthy and wholesome food for very reasonable prices. I especially like that they are very open with calorie counts and ingredients, plus they make most of their sandwiches in half portions - I can never eat a whole sandwich in one sitting at lunch! This is the closest branch to my work, but I have to admit, the one on Adams has a wider variety of choices. This branch however, has friendlier staff giving faster service. Guaranteed fresh food made daily with leftovers going to the Chicago Food Depository. Why don't more places do this?! The New York Times has a very good article about their business practices -worth a read if you have the time. nytimes.com/2011/08/07/b… I am always a satisfied customer.

Let's see. I can walk less than a block, and get a nice, good sized chicken Caesar salad from Corner Bakery for about 7 bucks. Or, I can walk two and a half blocks, and get a good, but small, chicken Caesar salad for about 7 bucks. I think I'll go with option #1. There's nothing wrong with Pret A Manger - its just a bit expensive for what you get.

I always pass this place getting out of the Willis Tower parking lot and finally figured I would try it. The sandwiches are made in the back and continuously brought to the front and seem mostly fresh. I asked the guy if they can make the one I wanted without the sauce and he said no, so I guess that is the standard there. Once you pick up the sandwich you want, you go to the register to pay and get some soup if you want. Today, I tried the lentil soup and it was really good. I also got the avocado wrap and it was just okay. It would have been much better without the sauce. Definitely worth going back to and trying some other of the 20+ sandwiches they have and some of their soups.

Excuse me. Oops. Excuse me. That's all I really remember about the lunch crowds in Pret A Manger. Running out of time and needing a quick work lunch fix, I came in here and grabbed what I think was the jalapeno chicken wrap and a Pure Pret Ginger Beer. The wrap had a decent flavor, but there was more red bell pepper than chicken or any other filling. At least it was still piping hot when I opened it. It was alright. Admittedly, I had to try the Ginger Beer because I thought the 'no nasties' tag line was kind of funny. I know. Dork. This place is good for its convenience in that stuff is ready-made. The prices are kind of on the higher end, but typical for the Loop. Come here if you are in a hurry.

While I like the whole "made fresh" deal that they have going, I'm not thrilled about the fact that everything is all pre-made. I don't like tomatoes, I never have and never will. So when I get sandwiches I always ask for them without tomatoes. This is not an option here because everything is already made. I'm forced to pic the tomatoes out and then there is inevitably still the tomato taste that has seeped into the bread. So aside from my tomato grip I like the whole principle of Pret. Good food that's fresh and readily available. The sandwich I had was good but it wasn't anything spectacular. It was just a regular sandwich. This isn't to say that I won't go back, but I probably won't find myself craving Pret either.

Looks like the fresh food option is catching on in the loop, and I'm loving the option of Pret a Manger. The name means "ready to eat" and the food is exactly that. You can scan the selection of cold or warm sandwiches/wraps that make up the left wall, see descriptions of what's in them and skip off to the register. I had an Italian Margherita wrap and it was scrumptious, filling, yet not too huge and it didn't gouge my pockets. It was only 5.99. So long Hannah's! I can appreciate that the food is good, the cost is low and love the fact that unlike most eateries, they offer the unused food to charity at the end of the day instead of being wasteful. Gold star to Pret for that alone! PS. I'm on board with the rest of the reviews about the door. What the heck? Not only does it let in the cold, but you have to be a gladiator to open them, they're so heavy!

top notch fresh food! i have bee here several times and love my "stand by" chicken bacon, avocado. This time i was able to get down there before the main lunch rush and had bee wanting to try their "toasties" whew! Awesome with a capital A! i tried the holiday favorite: turkey, cranberries, veggie stuffing, all served hot and as you might have guessed toasty.. fresh out of a panni press. I will surely be back to try some of the other options, i suggest you do so as well.

Pret a manger. From the French, meaning "ready to eat." This English retail joint has seriously got its message right. It's food is ready to eat, with little to no customization allowed. It's a quickly, easily maneuvered space, that offers fresh and healthy food in a core Loop district. While its many mix and match options can create a multitude of lunch options for the bored among us, prices quickly climb. My half sandwich, small soup, canned soft drink, and yoghurt side cost just over $13, making it a somewhat expensive option for a "quick" lunch. Is the food worth it? I should think so. My spiced pumpkin bisque was lovely. Hot. Filling. Savory. My favorite part of the meal, though, was the low-fat yoghurt with a spiced apple & ginger compote with toasted walnuts. A deliciously healthy and filling snack. The two stars that I deducted can be remedied with minimal fuss. Install some recycling bins. I peered around the premises before approaching a store attendant to inquire where I could recycle my soda can. Alas, Pret does not recycle. "Yet," the store attendant was sure to emphasize. My second complaint? See David C's review from December, 2010. His advice, for Pret to install a revolving door or a vestibule is spot on. My companion and I were seated in a corner furthest from the entryway, yet we spent our lunch hour shivering every few seconds, as a door would open to admit or disgorge yet another customer.

Started by going for breakfast and got a fresh squeezed juice (so good!) and a crescent (typical quality). Then for lunch: Delicious salad!! Quick as it was premade. Not normally a soda drinker but got their Sparkling Yoga Bunny Detox drink which was good but more flavor than I like in drinks. Then I went back for breakfast again for oatmeal but it was subpar (the toppings were strange to mix with the oats...granola). Overall, good food though and service was fantasic every visit!!

I love this place. Very easy to deal with - you walk in, grab what you want, and check out. Everything is all natural and organic "when they can." The cold sandwiches and wraps are usually what I go for. I love their rotating selection of veggie sandwiches and the Vietnamese baguette. The bread is always wonderfully fresh. The soups are actually my favorite part. I love the lentil soup and the chili (which they have some of the time). Good selection of drinks. I need to add that it's totally not cheap. A cup of soup, drink and sandwich is $12. Great quality however.

Pret a Manger is a wonderful place to grab a quick sandwich or salad. Sometimes, actually many times, all I want to do is get my lunch and get the heck out of the place so I can get back and lunch at my desk. And Pret fits the bill! I can grab and go. The food is tasty and the people who work at the LaSalle shop are quite pleasant and helpful.

Happy Camper here, i had the egg salad sandwich and loved it, not overly mayo-e. Had the corn and chicken chowder as well, the soup was full of chunky vegetables and chicken, hmmm.... yum. I like the fact they put all the calories next to the selections, definitely helped me in making my choices. Welcome to Chicago Pret A Manger, i have been waiting for you for a long time since i first had it in Hong Kong!

Pret's food swings back and forth between "a-okay" and "really tasty". I've eaten there many times and I never give up on them because nothing has ever been bad and I love the concept of nothing having a shelf life. Everything is made and sold the same day, organic when possible, so you're getting fresh food which I personally think is important in a sandwich and a wrap. No one wants a soggy sandwich that has been sitting for hours absorbing the juices and sauces, yucko! So Pret is perfect for fast and fresh. My favorite wraps are the Chicken Caesar and the Roast Beef. The Roast Beef has some kind of sauce on it that's sweet and tangy and I love it! Probably the best thing I've had from them. Great flavor, crispy peppers, and the portion size is perfect. The edamame and chick pea side is pretty great although not crazy about the bean and lentil side. I've had a few of the salads as well. They are pretty standard, none really stood out as exceptional although I have loved all the dressings I've tried. I've never actually eaten in because if you go at peak lunch times it's crazy busy and totally packed. But I've never had a problem getting in and out with something to go in under 5 minutes or less. It usually takes me longer to pick what I want than it does to check out Definitely one of my go-to places when I'm having a busy week.

Yes, Pret has tasty, cheap, and healthy sandwiches, salads, and soups with the nutritional value prominently displayed. Yes, Pret was a welcome relief for folks who visited London in 2006 when the pound was a shade over two bucks and $30 cocktails were standard. But . . . Get a revolving door or a vestibule. The people eating in your establishment don't want to get blasted with twenty degree cold every five seconds when someone opens the door. Especially when most of your food offerings are cold. Huge design flaw. This is Chicago, not London.

Very happy to have another healthy lunch option in the Loop. It's refreshing to see nutritional information in line with what you would expect for lunch options instead of the inflated calorie and fat content at Corner Bakery et al. And you can choose a full or half portion for most sandwiches--wonderful. Nicoise salad was delicious, service is friendly and fast, and community consciousness (leftovers get donated at the end of the day) is commendable.

Not bad! I came here during lunch and it was my first time. This place is self serve so you go up to a fridge and pick a sandwich. There is someone around that kind of guides you or provides some context so don't worry if you're new. They also provide nutritional facts, which is helpful if you are into that stuff. I think they also let you try the soups before you get them- which is definitely helpful as well. I had a salad, but can't remember which one...so i'm going to take it as a sign that it wasn't that amazing. I also had a cup of the clam chowder which was pretty good (hence why i can remember). I would go back and give it another try.

I go here ALL the time to get lunch as I work a block away. Seriously, do yourself a favor and spend the few extra bucks here over other sandwich chains! The ingredients are SO fresh and the different combos they have are awesome (I typically get the roast beef, shaved parmesan and arugula on a baguette...mmmm...). I used to go here years ago in London and was beyond excited when it came to the US. Their soups are always delicous as well (Turkey Chili and Tomato Feta are my 2 favs), and their unique sides like the Lentil Salad are such a nice upgrade from a normal lunch menu. They are very fairly priced based on the quality of ingredients and options. Nice to know I'm getting a great lunch without so many preservativies! AND...they have the calories and price right next to each other in the case so no surprises to my waist line or wallet! Score!!! Staff is super friendly and they always have multiple cashiers so even at the height of lunch hour I only have about a 30 second wait to get rung up. Thanks so much to everyone there, keep up the good work!

Love Love Love... I was SO excited when I learned Pret was coming to Chicago (since it was always a must-stop for me in NYC). Am a huge fan of the fresh sandwiches, lemonade and ESPECIALLY their brownies which are da bomb. Compared to other lunch spots in the Loop, this is definitely a heartfelt favorite of mine. Moderately priced. Run a tight ship. Yummy grub. Yay.

In 2004, on a weeklong trip to London, I ate Pret a Manger every day for lunch. Since then, I have been waiting for it to come to the US, and now it is one block from my office! Fantastic! Prepackaged sandwiches are gross you say? Obviously, you haven't tried Pret's sandwiches on crispy french bread with fresh veggies, meat and cheese. They're made fresh each day with really high quality ingredients. At a reasonable price, and very fast, I know this will stay part of my repertoire.

Not impressed. The place was literally chaos and they didn't have any of the shelves stocked. The items I saw on the website menu weren't even being carried that day. I got some sandwich and it was ok. It wasn't amazing.

Not worth the extra price! Why do we continue to pay more for organic food when it has been shown in numerous studies not to be any more beneficial or taste any different. Food was mediocre I had a spicy chicken wrap and a med. soup = $12. I did I break a window?

Delighted that Pret a Manger has opened so close to my apartment. I used to eat Pret a Manger a lot when I lived in England and their sandwiches are extremly fresh without the over the top prices that Hannahs Bretzel charges. I just devoured a Spicy Chicken Wrap which was still warm and fresh which cost $5.99. Hannahs Bretzel would charge $8.95 for a comparable sandwich and I would have to wait longer to be served. The big difference with Pret a Manger is that you can't really customize your sandwich as they have all been pre prepared. It is much better than Potbellys or Subway and I would strongly recommend Pret a Manger to anyone that currently goes to either of these sandwich shops.

They've expanded this place so there is seating now and its more open. The seating area is over-crowded at lunch though. The food is made fresh everyday and is wrapped up and ready to grab and go when you get there. Healthy and tasty fast food.

Food is average but i like the concept of quick grab and go food that is still high quality and uniquely creative. Service didn't match the brand though. Lower quality attendants kind of slowed down the experience which is meant to be fast.

I was so excited to go here. I walked in today at 10am and was open to trying any kind of vegetarian sandwich. They were out of everything. There was a sign stating that they could make a sandwich if they were out of it, so I asked. They refused to make me anything. Were they out of ingredients? Were they saving a secret stash of sandwiches for the lunch crowd? I have no idea. They just shrugged and told me to order something else, so I left. What a terrible business model!

This is the newest addition to the Pret family - their latest gift to the hard workers of the Chicago plains. As with all Pret a Mangers, the food is organic, delicious, and reasonably priced. The selection of salads, sandwiches, sodas, and succulent sides that line the wall will dazzle even the most frozen of working snowman. (Hmm...I guess melting/thawing would sound better. But we don't want indoor flooding. These shoes weren't free.) The morning baguettes and croissants are heavenly, and the coffee (while not my favorite in the loop) is more than reasonable and adequate for the price. Oh, the price. The specialty coffee drinks are all probably a dollar or two cheaper than starbucks. large cappuccino for $2.50? Get out of town! Seriously, get out. ...No, please, don't leave. There is a decent amount of cafeteria style seating, allowing for a reprieve from winter/summer extremes (our fair city is fairly unbalanced). But this is more of a pick up and rush out the door setup; perfect for the Clark Kents on their way to a major disaster and the politicians being led away in handcuffs from a major disaster. (Ba-zing!) The highlight of my visit, though, would have to be the super friendly staff. I was asked not once, but five times if I needed any assistance or suggestions. And while I am sure this is occuring due primarily to the grand opening push, I didn't mind the invasion of my personal bubble by helpful strangers in red hats. (Helpful Strangers in Red Hats...sounds like some decent film noir french sci-fi cinema.)

Fresh food, open and airy atmosphere and best of all the staff is super friendly and helpful! They were so smiley and it made me smile. The turkey club sandwich is delicious and the fact that everything is organic and made daily makes it that much more enjoyable.

Had to write a 5 star update for Pret after going a second time for lunch. I had their chicken caesar salad wrap and a ginger beer to drink. First of all, that sandwich was so good, I kept talking about it after lunch. It was light and crunchy, and so fresh and flavorful. I really haven't stopped thinking about that ginger beer though! So so delicious. I am in love with this place!

great spot to grab a quick and healthy lunch. i enjoy this place since i can get my food to go and be in and out in 2 minutes or so. they also seem to have different selections every time you stop in. they make all their sandwiches daily. i usually stop in once a month or more. this last time they didnt have my go to sandwich (chicken, applice slices, cranberry) so i tried something new - chicken with avocado, cilantro. it wasnt bad - im not a huige avocado fan but know its good for your body so i enjoyed it. i have had the ham and egg in the past as well - very good. their cookies are excellent - especially if you are able to score one that was just out of the oven. i have never stayed here to eat - i would imagine it to be quite loud with the amount of foot traffic they see.

I really enjoyed the tuna melt but so shocked at the calories...over 600 for tuna, capers, and cheese on wheat bread. I really like the variety of salads, sandwiches, and drinks. Everything tastes fresh. The spicy shrimp on a baguette is yummy. If you are watching you calories the caloric value is right there to help you make the best option.

Looks like a great menu. But it's a menu without prices. Lost my vote and my penny. Same as the fancy-dancy Protein Bar. Tell me how much I'm going tp spend before I walk to your store. Buggers.

This place opened up next to my work, and me and at least 3 of my co-workers go here 3-4 days a week. Great price, great food, friendly staff. I love the orange carbonated drink, the falafel/pepper hot wrap and the pine nut/avocado wrap the best. A+ for a Loop lunch option.

All the food is organic and freshly made daily -- you can taste this. The sandwiches are tasty and healthy, the coffee is superb to any other coffee in the area, and the bagels are outstanding. This place is full of traditional homemade flavors that will leave you feeling full, satisfied and energetic. For break fast you might pay 4.25 for a large latte and a bagel with cream cheese and for a typical lunch, a sandwich and can of sparkling juice costs about 7.50. If you have add ons like chips or soup of course your cost will go up :). I highly recommend this place for lunch, especially if you have a job that requires higher thinking and tons of energy.

Everything is fresh, there is no doubt about that. I like that they donate their extra food at night to shelters too. Salads are good (a bit small for the price) and their sandwiches look good but I've never had one. My biggest complaint is the price for the size. And I with they would put some of their salad toppings on the side. They use the most pungent blue cheese on their Cobb Salad and way too much of it too.

Decent sandwiches and salads for quick a lunch. I appreciate the cleanlieness and organized displays as well as the nutritional labeling on all products.
