I've been here a few times but have mostly had add-on biscuits that others brought to the Long Room. (Whoever put these places next to each other is a genius.) Excellent, fresh, hot food today and maybe the friendliest, best drive-thru worker I can ever remember talking to. She was just terrific.

This was the first time I had been at this location, I was hoping they would get the order right, but alas, they did not. I ordered at the drive-thru, and I am not sure if something was wrong with the speakers because we both had to yell at each other. I ordered 3 Tuesday specials, 2 mild and 1 spicy. One was supposed to have Cajun rice, another red beans and rice, and the other mashed potatoes with no gravy. When I got home, I had 2 spicy and 1 mild, 2 orders of mashed potatoes with no gravy, and a red beans and rice. There was no Cajun rice to speak of. Mother was pretty ticked off because she does not like spicy chicken, I was ticked off because I had been looking forward to some Cajun rice! The only one happy was my sister, her order was correct, and was free any way so she had no complaints. I don't like plain mashed potatoes, so I was forced to borrow poor mother's red beans & rice, which she loves, but she also enjoys plain mashed potatoes so I didn't feel too bad. All 3 biscuits were soft and buttery brown, too bad they had fallen apart while being put into the baskets. Why on earth would you serve biscuits that have clearly crumbled, and then smash them with the sides containers? I was going to call and complain but decided against that since I would have to bring the food back to 1600 W Irving Park Rd, and I live thisclose to 5800 W Irving Park Rd. Always check your bags! That would have fixed the sides situation, and I could have requested new biscuits, but the spicy and mild would have still been a problem. What is a person supposed to do, bite off or paw everybody's chicken to see if it is the right spice level? Sometimes spicy looks darker than mild, but sometimes it looks the same.

Long trip in from suburbs (I live in Lincoln Square) expecting to buy chicken dinner before 12 Midnight - Internet published trime this place is supposed to close. Sign on door said closed at 10 PM. Arrived at 10:15 PM. Of course I couldn't get in. Update your damn website. Oh well - falafel is better for you anyway - less grease and calories. Try Taste of Lebanon Restaurant on Foster just west of Clark (Andersonville). Mostly take out, but less expensive - more relialble - more interesting.

Spent almost 15 minutes in the drive thru to only see one car served. I had to drive off since I have a job that I stay on schedule for. Won't be back here any time soon. Hopefully some of the other fast food places in the area don't work as slowly as this place.

This place is always good. Rosa was very good natured and professional. My idea is everything they did was right.

I've been to this Popeye's location on multiple occasions, but I didn't feel like writing a review because the fare here is consistent with other Popeye's locations. I'm drawn to Popeye's for their spicy fried chicken, and to date, the chicken has always been hot and spicy, with crispy coating. However, my visit today made me reconsider my decision to not write a review. I had a sub-optimal experience. As of late, Popeye's has been promoting their customer satisfaction survey. If you take their survey at tellpopeyes.com , they will give you a free order of two pieces of chicken and a biscuit with purchase of a large drink. You can redeem the offer once every 30 days, but its a steal: For $2.18, you get a large soft drink, two pieces of fried chicken, and a biscuit. In the past, I've been asked if I want dark or white meat, and the chicken has been warm, if not hot. Today, however, the employee took my receipt and asked her manager to verify the survey code. The manager asked me when I took the survey, and I pulled my phone to show her that I had taken the survey today. She took my phone, and spent 2 minutes just scrolling the confirmation page. This verification process took her all of ten minutes, and she didn't ask me if I wanted dark or white meat, or sauce. FYI: If you want sauce, its another 27 cents. There is a very strict policy of cross-verifying every survey code here. It will eat up your time, making this a not-so-fast food joint. When I received my chicken, it was lukewarm, and the coating was sad to look at: soggy and sagging from the chicken. I was very disappointed with my visit today, and I would rate this one star if I hadn't had better experiences in the past at this location and in Texas.

Chicken is great but this place always has a crowd of obnoxious teenagers from the highschool across the street. They take away from the dining experience.

I've tried this place a few times and every time they have gotten my order wrong, I think the cashier and the servers are not working together.

Love that chicken from Popeye's. I do, truly. I feel wistful for it now that I'm trying to eat healthier and haven't had it in a month or two. Used to go every Tuesday, taking advantage of the $3.49 Tuesday special, but no more. This location always seems well-staffed, and they're usually pretty fast and courteous. Dining room seems clean, but I've never checked out the bathrooms. Once I tried to get my delicious 2-piece dinner a sunny Tuesday morning, and the credit card machine was down. I had no cash, so I walked away empty-handed. It was a sad day indeed. But for the most part, I'm fond of Popeye's, and this is my go-to location for unhealthy but delicious food.

There's nothing like almost breaking your tooth on a piece of freaking deep fried BONE in your tenders meal!!! Be careful with the Dip 'N Chicken. It seems to contain all of the bird...

On my b-day, which fell on a Friday this year, I was asked what I wanted to eat for dinner. With it being a very long week, I really didn't want to go out to dinner especially since we were celebrating my bday the following day. After being asked numerous times what I wanted to eat, I said Popeye's. It has been a minute since having Popeye's. We ordered an 8 piece spicy (white) with fries and biscuits. Delicious!! There nothing like spicy fried chicken. Comfort food!!!!

The food is consistent with most other locations (which I can't help but indulge myself with occasionally) but what sets this location apart is the friendliness of the cashiers. They have always been so kind to me... even continuing to make eye contact as I'm eating (as if to silently inquire if I'm enjoying whatever new product I'm trying) which I generally answer with a thumbs up (since my mouth is full... chewing). :-)

As the black lady in the commercial says, "My Chicken is hmm so good. Honey come in here for some Louisiana Fried Chicken." Or something like that.... It's fast and food. People that eat here all the time are fat. So don't. Once in while can't hurt as long as your tummy likes that fried gut rot feeling.

This review is for all the Popeye's across the entire hemisphere. Not just the ones I've visited in Chicago. Popeye's- look at me. When you are properly managed, and when you strive for fresh, delicious, and spicy chicken....you are better then KFC. Its not even a competition. You blow KFC to little bitty chicken nuggets. When you come at me all mismanaged, you totally suck and I want to keep driving...or in my case walk...since I don't have a car anymore. You're like that chick in high school who didn't know how hot she was. Look at the mirror Popeye's and say "Yes I can! I'm crispy enough, I'm spicy enough, and gosh darn it, people want to eat me!"

I have a love/hate relationship with this Popeyes. Things I love: 1. The crispy chicken 2. The bumps in the gravy 3. The bumps in my dirty rice 4. The Louisiana hot sauce that owes it's business to Popeyes 5. The fact you're open past midnight when I'm draggin' my ass to the * *'s place 6. The drive through people who are no nonsense and get you in and out like greased lightning 7. The people who kept it in business long enough so I could discover it late at night 8. The fact you make the ache in my heart go away by filling it with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. What more could a girl need? THINGS I HATE: 1. The weight I put on from late night comfort food binges. Hate you. Who am I kidding? Who could I hate you? Now let's never fight again. My last standing chicken shack-never leave me.

Three awesome things happened yesterday. 1.Went smelting fishing and caught a dozen smelt! 2.Drank a dozen beers and caught a serious buzz! 3.I ate at Popeye's chicken and caught a basket of fried chicken goodness! This is the place to go when you are drunk, it is past 11pm and there is no white castle in site. The staff is probably the friendliest I've encountered at a drive-thru. They were having a party in there, I wanted to go grab a 40 and hang out. 3 pieces of fabulously spicy chicken and enough french fries to feed a football team for only 6.99. I can't wait to get drunk again and go back! Now let's sing! Hungry Hungry, want some popeyes popeyes Uh-ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Fried Chicken tonight Hungry Hungry, want some popeyes popeyes Uh-ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! it tastes right, weeze there ery'night Thanks nelly! I love that chicken from POPEYES!

In my opinion, I looovve that chicken from Popeye's. Alas, it can never get more than 4 stars because it's fast food fried chicken and sides are not "made to order" but are actually made in huge vats to be scooped out upon request. That's a little gross. But. It's still delicious. So treat this more like a 5 star review. This Popeyes' has great customer service and food that ranges from standard to above average for a Popeyes' franchise. That gets the max of 4 stars!

it's past midnight. i'm coming back from an outing and fall anywhere between slightly to extremely inebriated, and i want to give in to my junk-food-only-when-i'm-inebriated-because-that-makes-it-okay state of being. this popeye's almost always hands out fresh, piping hot food when ordered after hours through the drive-thru window. in fact, i have yet to not curse my overzealous drunken self for biting into those cajun fries too quickly. just make sure you're not the one driving, and you'll thank me in the morning. oh, and don't forget the biscuits.

In terms of fast food fried chicken, Popeye's gets it done. Get me some spicy chicken, red beans & rice, a biscuit, and I'm a happy guy. I picked up some chicken on the way home last night, and it hit the spot. The food is always hot and flavorful, and usually pretty fresh. This will sound strange, but I think the spicy chicken is less spicy than it was at the Popeye's I went to in Baton Rouge and New Orleans when I lived there. At this particular location, if you're getting a family meal, I suggest going inside to order instead of using the drive thru. They have a few "manager's specials" that don't appear on the drive thru menu.

I love me maaaaah fried scrimp! That's right, I said scrimp (shrimp)! They are tasty, crispy and feakin' cheap cheap! This place is great for guilty appetites, broken hearts, long days at work, or simply just to enjoy some good ol' fried chicken. yum!

Clean restaurant with a nice staff. If you eat in, you usually have to wait at least a few minutes before your food is ready, but the drive-thru is fast. They sell 10-lb. bags of ice for 99 cents.

Sometimes you just want a fast and tasty meal, and get a craving for fast food and head for the drive-thru, then go home and chow down while watching a tv show you like (ie. Golden Girls, Saved by the Bell, Sabado Gigante) (oh and it is a requirement you take a few bites before making it home... and your first attempt at a bite you grab a french fry or chicken strip and go "ah ah ouch - F*cking hot" and wait a minute more). I prefer Popeye's over burgers and KFC. Though KFC has improved some, and they have better desserts, the famous bowl is genius and not grossly ridiculous like I thought it would be, though their menu gives me headaches looking at it when I don't what I'm in the mood for. I rarely go KFC or other fast food anymore (other than Popeyes; cause I'm above that and a health vigilante - just kidding) since I prefer carry out/delivery of asian/italian/other, and KFC feels more fattening than Popeyes. Now, Popeye's has very good chicken (spicy and crispy is the way to go). With the strips you can get the sweet n sour or bbq or honey mustard, make sure ask for it or they may give none or bbq by default - why?? I ask for sweet/sour AND honeymustard. The crispy chicken sandwich is very good with big slab of lettuce. The sides are good too. Seasoned fries you won't get at burger places (go to 5 Guys for seasoned cajun fries), mac n cheese (after 4 bites though the craving feels "it's not that great... mac n cheese in general"), corn on cob, and the best Red Beans and Rice. F*cking fabulous the red beans n rice. Why nobody has mentioned it is beyond me (and my gas-stricken anus the next morning). I put some red pepper in it when I get home - bam! Bam! My poor anus.... The service at this Popeye's is very courteous and helpful. Again, ask for sauces if you get the strips. The first time I went there I drank too much and then some and as my friend pulled up to the drive thru window I thought we were at Tacos and Burritos House and they don't even have drive-thru. Anyways, the staff is very nice and do a good job. I would like to do a review of this place on the tv show Check Please! one day.

There is only one way you wouldn't like the chicken at Popeye's: you're dead. Fast food chicken meats Southern charm; at least that's what they advertise. Sans the Southern charm, I think they've got it! Chicking is juicy and hot as are the sides and biscuits. I typically only order from here on weeknights when we are too lazy to cook anything else or when I just have that crave for spicy fried chicken. Is it typical of Southern fried chicken? Absolutely not! Is it comparable to KFC or other fried chicken fast food chains? You betcha! I would gladly choose Popeye's over any other Nationwide fast food chicken joint; hand down (but only long enough to grab another thigh and shove it into my face!). I only get the fried chicken and don't mess around with the nuggets, or strips, or whatever they call the other stuff. Stick to their sweet spot and it's stick to your's! (ps: tonight is one of those nights where we are lazy and choosing to eat that deep fried spicy goodness from Popeye's... and I can't wait!)

I'm going to admit, my expectations considering it is fast food were quite low. And maybe it was the fact I was hungover from the Cubs/cards game (note the lower case 'cards'), but it was actually quite good. For 10pm I was expecting stale chicken, stale bread, stale everything. But the chicken sandwich I ordered was delightfully fresh. Amazing since the employee unlocked the door for me to leave and then locked it after I exited. Honestly, it's not the best food in town. But considering how good it was at that time of day I can't justify giving them less than four stars. I wouldn't go here again unless I get in a jam to eat something at an inopportune moment. But when I do, I won't be terribly upset it's my only option. Better than some shitty pizza like the one across the street or Dominoes. Also, not sure if it displays - but I added the "formal jacket" part as a joke. : p

Ah, yes. Tis where I bought my thanksgiving dinner. Please, refrain from laughing. That's RUDE!!!! First, cooking myself is waaaaay too much work. Second, I have no family out here and Third, intruding on friend's family get togethers like a free loader- I NO LIKE!! Things I enjoyed: greasy, all dark meat... delicious. Melt in your mouth biscuits... as always, thank you. Dirty rice... yeah, you're A OK in my book too. And mashed potatoes and gravy.. oh yeah baby. The only thing missing is delicious coleslaw that KFC makes.. KFC has popeye's beat in that category. Fast, efficient service. What is deemed spicy here is not for my asian tastebuds.. the hot sauce tastes like vinegar. Listen up: Mmmm I had some last night with my local punching bag, (my friend)- and still yum. The consistency of popeye's fried chicken is magnificent. mmmm cajun fries. aye papi. Your meal must be experienced with this as the background music: youtube.com/watch?v=E2CV…

only been to a popeye's 2-3 times in my life. last night being one of them and this location. we discovered the $2.99 "2 pc and a side" Tues special. it was awesome. the chicken was all great, as were the fries and the red beans and rice. mmmm good!

After seeing the sign for "Louisiana Nuggets for $1.99" for months, I finally gave in and HAD to try them. OMG, they are good. For a $1.99?!?!? They aren't as spicy as I would have really liked, but you can get a dipping sauce for it. I've not tried anything else because I'm hooked on their Louisiana Nuggets. Maybe someday broaden my Popeye's experience with something new...

Love the chicken and the service is always great. I live down the street from popeyes establishment, so I come quite often, and I've never had a problem! There is something seriously wrong with you if you don't like popeyes!

The Popeye's on Irving Park just ripped us off. We got home and found out we didn't have some of our order. And guess what? They didn't give us a receipt either,so there's no handy phone number to call. And the website isn't operating either, so...don't go there. They weren't busy, so I don't think it was an honest mistake. 10:30 pm Saturday Sept. 8th.

Great place to get spicy fried chicken. I actually really like their fries as well...they've gotta pretty cool seasoned flavor to them. Easy, cheap stop for a good, filling (and greasy!!) meal.

  • Dee W.

It's fried chicken with a southern twist to it - I like their spicy chicken caesar wrap and the smokin chicken wrap, too - cheap food, cheap fried chicken - what more can you ask of a fast food chicken joint?

  • Eddie L.

Far better than the newer Roscoe Village location. The quality of chicken and sides is what you expect from Popeye's. The staff is pleasant and you get your food fast. I'd have bi-weekly meals here if I didn't know doing such a thing would tax the hell out of my arteries.

  • Therron R.

The ladies behind the counter are exceptionally friendly especially if you speak Spanish. We ordered the spicy chicken strip meal, and seemed to wait a long time because they had to fry us a fresh batch. We didn't mind the wait so much after they gave us each an extra strip as a way to apologize, and thank God for food that is really spicy when you request it. I hate it when I request spicy and then it comes out not so spicy. The chicken was very good and tender too!

  • Nikkie H.

I'm a sucker for fried chicken and Popeye's has me hooked! Although KFC is tasty, I think Popeye's has them beat. I usually get a three piece meal with Cajun mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The potatoes are the best thing EVER.

Ha. Fried chicken is so gross and greasy. I love it. They also have a drive-thru. Bonus. You don't even have to step foot out of your car to get your greasy goodness.

Lov it here! : ) lov the food and lov the spicy chicken too! Get my cravings and they are always satisfied at POPEYES!! woowoo

If your craving fried chicken this is your place! They have the usual greasy chicken choices but it is good. The sides aren't as good as KFC but the chicken is better.
