    This is my favorite pizza place in Chicago and most certainly my go to place. They have just the right amount of crust and lots of yummy cheese. Also be sure to order the pizzaco sticks, they are wonderful!!!

    A very small pizza shop with New York-style slices. As with a New York pizzeria, you never really know how fresh the slices are. Unlike a New York pizzeria, the guys at Pizzaco's don't shove your slice in an oven... they just keep the pies in a state of suspended animation under a heat lamp. That said, the slice I had was pretty good. The crust was chewy (take that, Ian's and Bacci). That was my favorite part. There was actual flour on the bottom - a welcome sight. The sauce and cheese were so-so. The pepperoni tasted overly salty. I bet a fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza would be amazing here. There's not a ton of seating. Just a few small tables. It's designed for a one-slice sit-down, not a meal. I'll probably be back when I'm in the neighborhood. On my way out, the guy at the counter thanked me for stopping in. That was a nice touch.

    This place has one of the BEST pizza's in Chicago! The pizza is not a Chicago style pizza, more like a New York style. (I know no-one beats Chicago in making pizza but it's still great pizza) It's a small place, but CLEAN, & the staff is friendly! Great food, great prices. There's a bar maybe 2 doors down that's open until 4am, so you can walk over to this place & have some pizza after a night out drinking 2 doors down! . They are open late. YAY for all you drinkers out there! Nothing better then a bar & a pizza place next to each other on a nice Chicago summer night, or early 3am / 4am morning! They have pizza by the slice too! and it's HUGE! So you have to check out this place!

    This place hands down has the best pizza in Chicago!! I moved from NYC and craved a pizza similar to what I enjoyed there. Well thank the heavens that this place exists. Last week we shared this with newly migrated New Yorkers who were missing good pizza. They left very happy swearing it comes close enough. I recommend the margherita and the pepperoni pizzas. The crust had the right texture and the flavor is well balanced. Also must get the garlic knots...seriously it's amazing with fresh garlic. Better than the garlic knots I've had in New York! We always get delivery which comes piping hot.

    I don't get why people love the pizza from here. I have been twice for pizza slices (second chance) and am not a fan of the chewy almost stale like crust. I have had plenty of NYC style pizza but this one sadly ain't cuttin it.

    I'm not a pizza expert, so I won't (and can't) go on and on. I can only offer the bumpkin review- "the pizza's pretty good." And they serve pizza by the slice, thank goodness. As for other items: you get gargantuan portions (see eggplant parmesan photos,) enough for two meals or two people. I like. If you order fries, be sure to request them made a little bit crispier. The trend so far has been for them to be a bit on the soft side. I am a happy repeat customer.

    Worst pizza I've ever had. Not only want it delivered cold, the "New York" style slices were soggy and rubberish. This was my second time trying this place (after a horrible experience the first time) and I will not go back. Beggar's Pizza bests this place hands down.

    I was in the mood for pizza. Not being a fan of stuffed (funny thing, prior to living in Chicago, it was my favorite kind of pizza), I was on the hunt for NY-style. Forgetting the fact that I was in The West Loop, I remembered a place I saw lauded on Yelp. It was some place with a name that escaped me but an easy enough address to remember (Ashland and Addison). I drove like a bat out of Michele Bachmann's house for a very particular reason: The daily special. Between 4 and 6 (perfect for my grandpa self), you can get a slice of pizza (decent-sized), side salad, can of soda (oh, the joy of it being called SODA and not po... I can't even write it), and Italian ice FOR FIVE BUCKS! That's right! $5. No foot-long for you. You get an entire meal! It's genius! One slice of pepperoni, root beer, salad, and lemon ice later, I'm highly satisfied and very smug. Of course, I came back later that night for two more slices to drink with a frosty blonde (the beer) but that's because I'm a greedy fatazz and the pizza tastes great, not because I wasn't properly fed. Points to the guys behind the counter being laid-back and super cool. Their motto of being a 'local mom & pop shop' is highly evident. Super small, neighborhood business and enjoy great pizza while doing so!

    I had finished a 14 mile training run for my upcoming marathon the other night, and all I could think about was pizza...not Chicago style...NY Style! I don't know why. I called up Pizzaco's for the very first time. I got a 16 inch cheese pizza and an order of garlic bread. Holy amazing pizza, Batman. It was SO delicious and cheesy, and of course I burned the roof of my mouth because I couldn't wait and blow on it. I just wanted to jump on that pizza! I could also eat 50 bazillion pieces of the garlic bread...soooo buttery. Just the right amount of garlic and crunch. Cafe Luigi, you may have just been de-throned

    Meh. The search for a decent approximation to NY style pizza in Chicago continues. The crust is far too thick and chewy to even pretend to be NY style, there is a distinct lack of grease, and the cheese hardened into a plasticy mess moments after cooling off slightly, indicating low-quality cheese. Also, the sauce to cheese ratio is completely off. I'm beginning to think I should just give up on this search and save up all my pizza cravings for trips back east.

    Okay Chicagoans please don't be offended but sometimes I just don't want deep dish style pizza. Sometimes I have a need for the foldable cheesy goodness that is a New York style hand tossed pizza and Pizzaco goes above and beyond meeting that need. Their fresh ingredients and flavorful, slightly chewy crust set them apart from any other pizza experience I have had in the city. If you give them a try, be sure to sample their Cheese filled garlic breadsticks. So good!

    New York pizza pie the way it should be. Chewy, greasy, and supremely delicious. Now I love me some deep dish. But I'm not always in the mood for that this is the ultimate alternative to your Chicago style. It is just a different beast all together. Where Chicago deep dish is like Dr. Frankenstein's lasagna on acid, the New York style pie from Pizzaco's is like a chewy flat bread, with sweet tomatoe sauce, and perfectly melted mozzarella cheese, that is baked to perfection. Tastes like it was flown in fresh from NYC. The toppings are always tasty. You can't go wrong with my usual which is just pepperoni and garlic. I have only done delivery and it is usally fast and fresh. I have turned many Chicago Only people on to this pizza and they have all thanked me. If you have that itch for a pie of a different kind. Try it!

    Love it! Finally I can give a pizza place 5 stars! I don't like Chicago style pizza (including Chicago style thin crust) so I am so glad I found pizzacos. Their crust is perfectly chewy and the right thickness. Just the right amount of sauce and cheese and their ingredients are high quality. Great sausage, I could actually taste the fennel and large veggies that were actually fresh!!! On a Friday night they delivered exactly when they said they would... Imagine that! I do wish they were open during the day for lunch but I guess they are open really late instead.

    I was on my way to Art of Pizza last night, when out of the corner of my eye, I see "NY Slices." A quick U-Turn on Ashland, and I pull up, feed the Daley Meter, and enter this small, but semi-packed Pizza shop. I love NY style pizza, and there are a few average places here in Chicago, but nothing that's really anything close to the real deal. Two slices of sausage for $6 bucks. Super friendly guy, who I assume was the owner, decent prices, and damn good slices, will definitely bring me back.

    Largest calzone I've ever seen. The menu calls it 12 inches, but if that was 12 inches, then I'm John Holmes. The guy who served it to me seemed confused that I wanted this "for here," all to myself. When it came out, I knew that I was in trouble. But after previously insisting that I did not want it in a box, I felt challenged and committed to finish it. And, so help me, I did. It was a goddamn good one too. Ingredient proportion is so important for a calzone, and Pizzaco gets it very close to perfect, using just a bit too much cheese. It's rare that I don't need the extra cup of sauce, but this one had enough sauce inside (big thumbs up). I really liked the crust, which was slightly crispy outside and somewhat chewy inside, not the bland, dense, cardboardy dough that I see on many local calzones. And they dust it generously with herbs and parmesan before baking. A- on flavor, A+ on size. It's a great value at about $12 and would feed two people comfortably. It took me about 45 minutes to eat the whole thing. After about 60% I was full and felt like stopping. Around 75% I really wanted to quit for the sake of health and comfort but I stubbornly pushed on. The last four bites were torturous and I nearly gave up. That was probably my most disgusting display of needless gluttony since Christmas dinner 1996. And if you think that I am exaggerating, I assure you that I am not; it was shamefully gratuitous. Take my advice to heart: if you are a dude with an average appetite, and let's say you have a girlfriend with an average appetite, get one of these calzones for dinner some night. Divide it by about two-fifths/three-fifths, and you will both be fully sated with the meal and still need to wait about 60 to 90 minutes before having sex.

    Yum Yum Yum. This place is one of our favorites, we get pizza from here every other week or so. The sausage is great (some pizza sausage is suspicious). Their ingredients are always fresh, the staff (usually the owners) are helpful and very friendly and they give reasonably accurate estimates on when things will be done or delivery will arrive. Only sad thing is that they reduced the scope of their menu. Their chicken parm was the best in the city hands down. And now with reduced salad options they might not make my special-order cheeseburger pizza -- I'll update when the craving next hits and I see if they'll make it. Hm... maybe tonight.

    I freakin' love this place! Ordered delivery a while back and it hit the spot in terms of the type of pizza I like (new-york style, but not as greasy, not quite foldable, but close, chewy crust). Went back tonight when I spotted it driving by and couldn't pass up the $5 dinner special: Large slice of pizza, side salad with a great creamy garlic dressing, a soda and a gelato or italian ice. Talk about a deal! The dough, sauce, toppings (veggies) are all so flavorful. Guy at the counter was super nice. When your choices in this city are chicago-style or cardboard-style thin crust (besides a few exceptions like Pizzaria Serio, Piece and this place), you can't go wrong with Pizzacos.

    Late night hours at Pizzaco's have returned. Or they haven't. The sign out front says they have, but it was very much closed when I tried to stop in late last Friday. I assume they're still working out the kinks of going back to their bread and butter wee hours. 4.5 up to 5 if things are coming together.

    My friend and I looked at over pizza menus for a hour and Pizzaco's variety won us over. We wanted a whole bunch of sides with 1-2 slices, which Pizzaco offered, without having to order an entire pizza. So here's what we thought of each item we got: Fried Ravioli: It was my first time trying it and I wasn't impressed. My friend told me she had better and the marinara tastes weird Pasta Salad: Nothing special, seasoning was a little weird Garlic Bread: We had 2 orders of this and good thing we did, we loved it.. It's about 6 in. which was perfect for us Fries: Regular fries, a little soggy but I don't blame em cause fries get gross when being delivered, but we were craving potatoes... Pizza: I'm not a huge fan of superr cheesy pizza, but it was good. My friend loved it cause she loves cheese! Good NY style pizza for Chicago Service was nice.. They actually called us back asking if we wanted any other condiments, like Parmasean cheese, ketchup, etc.. but I'm guessing they asked us cause we emphasized how we wanted a lot of hot red peppers and marinara sauce. Overall, it was good but nothing crazy

    I've never written a live review before, but I'm so excited I can't wait. How's it going to be? Four stars and only 50 reviews....I read so many of them I've been dreaming about this place for weeks, even though the name reminds me of tacos. I'm from New Jersey, which I am proud to represent, at least pizza-wise. Our pizza will take your pizza for a walk down by the docks. Please forgive me for that outburst. Pizzaco's largest NY style pizza is 18 inches. I like a beautiful, *round* 26 incher, so we ordered two. One plain, because I believe strongly in a control, and one sausage, mushroom, and onion. Despite the true meaning of "control," I always, and WILL always, order pizza in Chicago with extra sauce. If you're looking for that NY je ne sais quoi, there's a hint for you. The woman on the phone was friendly, and she laughed at my jokes. I don't expect that at 7 pm on a Saturday night. The pizza is a little thicker than I would have liked, and the crust a little doughy. Thick(er) and doughy, but both were delicious. The sauce reminds me of home. The crust was a little droopy, but I crisped it up on the ol' pizza stone, as I am apt to do. That made for quite an improvement. I truly enjoyed my Pizzacular experience, and I will not hesitate to devour their pizza in the future. But lo! My quest ends not here. Somewhere in Chicago lies a perfectly thin, sweetly sauced piece of pizza perfection, and by golly I'm going to find it. And eat it.

    Like the pizza. Crust was a bit crispy although it did have air, which is a nice change. So if you like it bready and chewy not for you. Toppings are tasty and truly smothered the pizza. Not stingy at all. Overall a really good pizza. I only give a 5 star if i am like knocked out so don't let the 4 star sway you. And how many pizzas will change your life.

    We bumped into Pizzaco on a whim. And based on a quick search for Italian food in the area. It's a bit dive-y but don't let that fool you. It's a good eat! We decided to get two entrees to go. We got a couple chicken plates and a caesar salad. We waited in the restaurant part the 20 minutes it took to cook on a Friday night. It was boiling hot! Fresh made, you could tell. The staff was very attentive and had a good sense of humor. We got home and boy were we thrilled. Everything was just right. Even for takeaway, it was delicious. Everything was carefully wrapped to preserve the freshness. That might not seem a big deal, but stuffing garlic bread with steamy pasta makes it soggy. All in $30 was spent. While that seems a tad high, we easily ate for two meals. Easily. Always good for leftovers on a lazy Saturday morning.

    This place is the reason I started my Yelp account. A small local place, with GREAT customer service, and the closest to NY pizza I've found in Chicago. Being a NJ native, I've been on the hunt for THE pizza place for about 6 months. This place is it and the couple who own the place could not be nicer. They like to be on a first name basis with their customers and always make you feel wonderful. Try this place - you will love it!

    A great find while out late! They are open until 4AM!! Not that I am out that late much these days,but...I do find myself out past my bed time now and then and almost always want a slice of pizza when my tummy rumbles late at night. I had a simple slice of cheese pizza and it was delicious! The crust was very light and chewy,but not in a bad way. I generally like either thick or thin pizza and am not usually a fan of the New York Style slices, but, this was very good! The rest of the menu looked very tasty as well. I will go back and try one the Veggie Parmesan sammies...made my mouth water to read the menu!! This is a family run business and the owners both thanked us and asked how we liked the pizza.I always LOVE when owners and or employees care enough to do that. Will definitely return!!

    Great neapolitan pizza, which has anchovies. Nobody ever told me anchovies are so good on a pizza. ALSO: I can't understand why but Tapatio hot sauce is perfect for this pizza. This pizza and this sauce are unusually well made for each other.

    Great little pizza shop... And what a better combo than a late night bar (Tais til 4, adequately named...as it is open til 4am on the weekends), next to a pretty stellar pizza shop that holds the same hours!? Match made in drunken heaven, my friends. Pizza is good, sauce is sweet...they claim its NY style, though I don't know what that is exactly...so I will take their word for it. Either way, it's tasty. The owner was very helpful, polite, etc. Served me up a slice of mushroom/spinach/onion that hit the spot. Serve cans of pop for 75 cents, which is a bonus in my book :) Great stop, and I am going to add them to my "call for emergency pizza delivery" mental list. This could come in handy....

    I am originally from New York and I grew up on New York style pizza. This tastes like it! Some places say the have "New York style" pizza, but the slices were big, and you can fold them. The owner is really nice once you get to know him and talk to him a bit-he gave me some tips about the area. And they have this special for $5 I think after 4pm, you get a side salad, which is really fresh and homemade by his wife, a slice of pizza, a can of soda, and desert, a cup ice cream! All for $5! Are you kidding me? Awesome! The only down side is parking can be hard, but once you get there it's worth it! They also have delivery.

I was in the mood for a little change up in my pizza habits so I decided to check out Pizzaco's. Their NY style pizza is as delicious as everyone says it is! Even sober before midnight!     Okay so here's the thing, I'm a NYer (born and raised) and moved to Chicago about 2 years ago. Since I've lived here, I've been on a "quest" of sorts in order to find something that hits home and resembles the pizza I ate so regularly back home. Don't get me wrong; Chicago-style pizza is great, and something to be enjoyed once in a while, but there are fundamental differences between a NY slice and a Chicago slice. In NY, pizza shops are everywhere; people grab slices all the time- for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can eat it anywhere, walking down the street, with a paper plate, just fold it in half and you're good to go. Grab a pie at night for dinner, everyone's happy and life is good. Since I've lived in Chicago I've tried many of these so called NY-style pizzas, some have been decent, others okay, but none just right. That leads me to Piazzaco. This place is perfection. I was craving a calzone, and so I grubhubbed it. I came upon this place--they have calzones!--and noticed they offer "NY style pizza". Whatever, I thought, give it a shot. So I ordered the basics. Garlic knots, calzone, and a cheese pie. Let me say, this is IT folks! I don't write reviews like this often but I couldn't let this one go. The cheese on the pie, the crisp on the outside/soft on the inside garlic knots, even the pizza boxes everything came in brought me right back home. Everything arrived piping hot. I wanted to die when I took my first bite, everything was so good. The menus state this is, "Just a local mom and pop store" which makes me love them even more. Do yourself a favor and grab a cheese pie from this place, you will not be disappointed.

    Sometimes you need a break from the Chicago deep dish and the cracker thin crusts that seem to be the majority of options around the city. We ordered a sausage pizza from Pizzaco the other night and not only was it HUGE, but it was full of NY pizza awesomeness. Feel free to fold it, if that's your thing, or just pick up each slice with both hands and shovel the cheesy goodness in. We'll definitely be ordering from here again, especially since we had so many leftovers (cause let's be honest, that really is the best part of ordering pizza, right?). I'm dying to try their calzones, but I don't know if I'll ever have the strength to say no to the lovely, gooey pizza.

    Very good if you're looking for NY style pizza, or just need a break from the standard crispy thin-crust squares all around Chicago. Pizza sauce was very good, not overly sweet (which was my main concern) and has a nice flavor to it. The cheese they use is obviously fresh and the have a nice balance there, just enough cheese to make me happy. Their "home made" mozzarella sticks were OK, but definitely larger than what most places provide. Delivery was very quick and the free 6 pack of diet coke / coke is a nice choice. Ordering via GrubHub was smooth as usual.

    Hallelujah!! There is NYC style pizza in Chicago an it's good. I like some Chicago deep dish (Burt's Place, Pequod, Lou Mahlnati's. Definitely not Giardano's! They stink.), but this cracker crust with the 2"x2" squares is just not my thing. Frankly it tastes like bad frozen pizzas from my youth. We read the other reviews of Pizzaco and knew we had to swing by and try it out. So this past Saturday my girlfriend and I had "test" slices. Sure did taste like the pizza we're used to if a bit doughier than my preference. But that was nothing ordering it a bit well done didn't fix. We ended up ordering a whole pie to take home that evening so we could have left overs.

    My new favorite pizza place - crust is thin and approaches a more "east coast" style and their toppings are oustanding. Upgrading from regular to fresh mozzarella is worth the extra charge. One of my favorites is the 4 cheese pizza - provolone, mozz, reg-parm, and fresh mozz...YUM! They also won my heart over with the Galaga arcade game in the restaurant...this place made me feel like I was twelve years old again and playing hooky from school. Definitely worth the money!

    How have I not reviewed a place I eat at multiple times in a month? For being located in Chicago it is the best NY style pizza. NY STYLE people. It's not 100% authentic, but if you're an expat NYer (like me), short of bringing back real NY pizza (done it) Pizzaco's is the best you're going to get in this city. Their pizza is great, their cold Italian sub is tasty, the eggplant parm is good as well. While I've never tried a calzone, my BF loves them too. The owners are always in the store; they're super friendly & just downright pleasant while helping you. It's a casual, lowkey environment, just like a pizza place should be. Walk in, grab a slice, season it appropriately, & you're good to go. Cheap, fast & delicious. Total win. Oh, and Pizzaco owners, if you're reading this, the only thing that would make you better is if you offered fried eggplant as a pizza topping & made garlic knots. It's probably the only thing that would get us in your store more often.

    They call this pizza New York style. Maybe I'm not sure exactly what that means, because it's profoundly unlike any of the good pizza I've had in NY and NJ. For Chicago, it was okay pizza. The sauce was not as sweet as most pizza places in Chicago like to do, but had a strange bitter undertone which was unpleasant. They do have a vegan pie (bonus, as my boyfriend is vegan) and were willing to make vegan bruschetta for us. The bruschetta was excellent, and if that's all we had ordered they'd probably get a better rating. I enjoyed the service, and the owners were very nice. One drawback was that the prices were fairly high, even for city food. The other was that they also don't deliver to my area. As a result, overall I don't think I'd consider it worth the drive or price to go here on a regular basis. I guess I'll have to keep looking for good New York style pizza.

    I have to be up front about this - I really don't know how their pizza actually in. My son absolutely loves it - but I have not had it. So, I don't know if you want the pizza. I always order the same thing - a calzone and the bruchetta. The bruchetta tomatoes are very fresh - and are packed separately from the bread - which is nice and toasty with the right amount of butter. The calzone is the way to go (be sure to ask for extra sauce). The crust tastes like very well toasted bread - with lots of chesse stuffed inside.

    Is this really NY style? No, of course not. There is no such thing in Chicago, hard as you may look (you may as well give up on that now). But it's tasty enough and the slices do fold in a fairly convincing way. It was surprisingly expensive--$50 for two large pizzas delivered (one specialty four-cheese, one run-of-the-mill pepperoni). Delivery was more or less as promised and pizzas were still reasonably hot. Bonus points for friendly and intelligible people over the phone.

    To anybody from NY (or anywhere along the eastern seaboard), this place will definitely give you a taste of home. Like Greg, I love my new home's deep dish with a passion, but when it comes to thin crust, I simply can't handle 99% of what Chicago has to offer: cardboard crusts with ketchup & cheese whiz sacrilegiously sliced into those ridiculous little saltine-sized squares that serve no purpose whatsoever, other than to ensure that the toppings slide off as fast and as soon as humanly possible. This is why I love Pizzaco's! They stay true to the way thin crust pizza SHOULD be done: in foldable, greasy pie slices. This is the way Pizza was meant to be. Take any negative reviews of this place with a grain of salt. I order from them 8-10 times a month and 75% of the time they are here inside 30-35 minutes, and the rest of the time they are there in under an hour. I can only remember one time over the past year when they took more than an hour. They also make a great chicken caesar salad that is refreshingly olive free, and they also have great desserts.

    New to North Center/Lakeview and looking for local pizza place? - I've found it! Pizzaco s is that little hole-in-the-wall type place everyone calls home. Since moving to North Center, this little place has been my once a week retreat for a couple slices of pepperoni (only $2.75 per slice). I haven't had anything else besides the pizza but my next visit will be for the calzones, which everyone keeps raving about.

Never done delivery here (I live across the street), but there is nothing better than getting off the 152 at the corner and grabbing a greasy slice to cure a shitty day's woes. It's basic utility pizza-- decent cheese, modicum of sauce and thin, crisp crust. It's New York street pizza, nothing more, nothing less. Now, if I could get them to make me garlic knots, they'd get an additional star.

    I've ordered delivery from Pizzaco twice now, and while I do like the Chicago style deep dish pizza, Pizzaco fills the need for the hand tossed NY style that I was craving. It may not be the best version that I've ever had, but it's well above average, and, so far, the best I've discovered in the area. Delivery was on time, and though the price for a pizza was slightly more than I was expecting, I thought it was worth it. I did see one review mention something very odd with the cheese. I would like to add that while I didn't find anything wrong with the pizza, I also thought there was something very wrong with the cheese in the mozzarella sticks. Describing it tasting like plastic is pretty accurate. It was strange. The consistency was odd too. Consider this rating just for the pizza.

    Terrible slice. They didn't even reheat it. They took it out of the circular glass display and handed it to me. I wanted my money back at that moment. Even if they had reheated it, it would have been 3 stars at best. I couldn't see a fresh pie above 3.5 Don't go here.

    I hate to give this place 2 stars, but I need to. The staff is nice, prices are good, the place is clean, but the food ehhhhhh.... There is something WRONG VERY VERY WRONG with the cheese, it tastes like plastic, I felt sick mid slice of pizza, of course I finished 2 slices while hoping it was just the parm on top, sadly the second slice proved it was just the cheese. The crust is also lacking, it does not seem at all NY style except in shape. Maybe if I just rolled out of a bar this would be passable but I cant eat here again.

    Pizzaco's has saved my sanity. I've spent two years living in this city, trying to find a good NY style pizza. I heard great things about Luigi's, and while the pizza itself was passable, the crust was completely wrong, lacking the crispy-outside, chewy-inside that is the difference from a good NY pizza and a bad NY pizza. Pizzaco's succeeds where they failed, producing a near-perfect example of the same pizza I had growing up in the NYC suburbs. As far as toppings go, the meatball is excellent, and you can't ever go wrong with pepperoni. Prices are a bit high (possibly as I always order an extra-large pie) but still cheaper than deep-dish. Delivery is usually right-on-time. The pizza reheats perfectly, so make sure you order extra for breakfast the next day. My one complaint is that they don't open until 3pm, which is fine for weekdays, but a bit late for the weekends. Either way, it is but a small inconvenience for a little piece of NY right here in Chicago. Also, if you're expecting the coal-oven style NYC pizza of Patsy's or Grimaldi's, you won't find it here, or really anywhere other than NYC or Italy. That's not a negative, as Pizzaco's is trying to reproduce the more standard NY hand-tossed pizza, and they do it perfectly.

    I was really excited last fall to see this place open as It's right along my commute home, and they have pizza by the slice. I've tried their veggie, and cheese pizzas by the slice. Both very good. Thin, yet chewy crust, and not at all greasy (I personnally tend to like greasy, but this is good too). The service is excellent. The first time I went in there, they had just opened and the credit card machine wasn't working yet. They were very apologetic and directed me to the cash station across the street. I got cash and came back, and they threw in free slice for my trouble. Another time he gave me a free slice because it was the last slice of the pie out and must have been there a while (but it was still good). Every time I've been in there I've felt like my business was appreciated. It makes me want to go back. I'm excited to see that it's now open late on the weekends. Their pizza slices have to be the highest quality fast food available at 3am!

    Brilliant business strategy - open up a pizza place next to a late night bar, serve GOOD pizza, and keep it open late. As long as these guys keep slinging slices, there will be drunks to patronize them. Pizzaco is right next to my beloved Tai's Til 4. This is perfect. They also make significantly better pizza than D'Ags, and the guy behind the counter on Saturday night is extremely friendly.

    The Newly opened PizzaCo is actually really good. The Pizza is of the greasier fare, but I found it very delicious, plus the portions are very large. The pasta is good as well, and doesn't fall into the trap of having really sweet marinara sauce like so many Italian eateries do. Their hours right now are temporary while they wait on a new oven, so they will eventually be open later than 9pm. The service is great and very personable. I really like this eatery, and I hope it does well, too many abandoned storefronts on this corner... Dammit Ryan, I wanted to get my first, First to Review..... ;)

    I wanted to check out this place because its so close to my house. I went on a Thursday around 6 pm and we were the first people to arrive. The place just opened about a month ago and everything inside looked clean and new. The guy behind the counter seemed very eager to have customers and was VERY attentive. Somehow it was a bit confusing as to how the place works- we weren't sure whether we were supposed to go up to the counter or just go sit at a table. The answer=go to counter first. We ordered slices of pizza, ceasar salads and canolis. The pizza had the most amount of cheese I have ever seen on pizza and, therefore, was very filling. The salad was good as well as the canolis. It was a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. I will go back, for sure. Update 11/21/07: I grabbed a slice of veggie pizza to go, as well as a cannoli. The cannoli was frozen so I threw it in the oven at my house for 10 minutes and it turned out perfect. Still loving this place...

    I have been in Chicago since '95 and have only had 2 places meet my standards for a New York style pie . One a True Sicilian style at cheese shop and Bacci's at Wrigley for the "need 2 plates to hold it and catch the grease" style when your drunk. But all that has changed !!!!! Across the street from my favorite spot in Chicago ;o) I was hungry and wanted to take a shot .....Soooo Glad i did . From the start the owner is just Truly happy to have you at his shop and lets you know coming and going . The hours for the bar crowd is a long overdue idea ,especially considering the quality of the food. The Food - I found out through the owner that they were just looking to open a shop and not trying to fill the NY style niche that is half-assed attempted here. They hit it right on the nose though with a perfect NY style thin crust with the right amount of cheeses and sauce. The toppings are pretty standard fair with the exception of TRUE MEATBALLS (not just ground beef ,hint hint) ,Mortadella and Capicola . All in all I have to give this place four stars and hope they get the business they deserve to stay around

    Yummy yummy pizza! Really good stuff, this place is immaculate! You kinda have to look for this place, but its there, nestled between Addison and Waveland waiting for you. The sauce and cheese are terrific, love the foldability of the crust (which you only get with hand tossing). Love getting pizza by the slice that is fold and go! The only odd thing was the pie warmer, which is a heat bulb thingy. I can get past that though, as it doesn't seem to affect the texture of the crust.

    PizzaCo's opened right around the corner from me at an intersection that is highly lacking restaurant options. It's right next to Tai's. I had a chance to chat up with the owner, who seemed to be an overall nice guy. Unfortunately, their hours are not ideal for the late night pizza eaters (they close at 9pm), but the owner said they are considering staying open later for the Tai's crowd, which would definitely be a plus! We'll see if that happens. As far as food goes, I tried a slice of the cheese pizza - it was OK. I would be willing to try it again - probably with toppings. I also had the eggplant Parmesan sandwich. The portions were very generous and they use quality ingredients. The staff was very helpful & friendly. They have that "neighborhood" vibe. I definitely think they still need to work out the "kinks," but I will definitely return and try some more of their food offerings. UPDATE: The hours have been extended at Pizzaco's. They are now open late on Fridays (1-4am) and Saturdays (1-5am). Awesome spot for late night pizza. Also, their calzones are amazing! They are huge and easily enough for two. I like mine with spinach and mushrooms - yum!

    If you're looking for NY style pizza, your search can stop right here. No, we're NOT going to find pizza that has cracker-thin crust and is cut into squares, which are features that parts of Chicago seem obsessed with. You're going to find the east coast style you've been dying to have. We're talking about chewy crust, we're talking about triangle cut, we're talking about sauce with great flavor. The cheese, the toppings, and yes, the resulting grease are all top-notch. Delivery is prompt and if the wait goes beyond the usual 35-40 minutes I'm used to (they estimate 45min-1hour), it's still worth it. I've mainly ordered only pizza from them, so I can't speak to their other menu items, but when I have a hankering for a classic NY style pizza, I pick up the phone and call Pizzaco's.

    I like this place because its soo damn cheap and tasty, not to mention a block from my apartment. I don't get why its rated at $$ though. An NY style slice of cheese pizza is $2.30, $2.50 after tax. WHAT?! Sure Ian's Pizza is extremely tasty as well, but their slices are $3.75.

    Had read on Yelp that Pizzaco's had NY style pizza, so we decided to give it a shot. Were not too impressed, but then moved even *closer* to PIzzaco's, and decided to give them another shot. ;) The second time around was much better, and I would strongly consider putting them into our regular pizza rotation. Still doesn't quite add up to NY style--maybe more like Detroit style?--but it's definitely the non-crackery type of pizza, which makes it miles ahead of thin Chicago style in my book. The only thing that was kind of off-putting is that although we live about three blocks away it still took 45 minutes to get the thing--on a Thursday. However, it didn't seem to be that we were down the delivery list or anything, since the pizza was still nice and hot when we got it. Can't complain too much, except I was super-hungry and hopeful. ;)

    This place caught my eye because it took over where Palmito's(RIP) used to reside. Has to be good then, right? Went delivery this round and had them throw a combo of basil and red onion on the pizza. Delivery driver was very pleasant and the Pie felt like it was fresh out of the oven. Certainly not what I've grown accustomed to from other delivery services.... Crust was crispy without being flimsy. Overall composition was that akin to "New York" style, and was executed flawlessly. Basil amount was just right, and the red onions were slightly caramelized. Which I certainly appreciate. Give this place a try.

    We stopped here after having to change four tires on our car down the street, so the mood may have affected this review. The counter staff was very nice, and the atmosphere was very casual and homey, the evening news was on. The pizza was alright, a bit pricey for a slice. They weren't too busy, so the pieces may have sat for a little while. If I could make the trip down to Big Daddy's on State, I'd go there first :) That's a freakin' pizza slice.

    The VERY BEST NY style pizza in Chicago (or anywhere that I've tried outside of NY/NJ). The crust is the perfect consistency with just the right amount of "chew". Their pepperoni pizza is one of my favorite pizza's in Chicago. They deliver in a hurry too, so our pizza is always piping hot when we get it. If you're tired of deep dish or pizza's cut into squares, I highly recommend Pizzaco's.

    I drove by there and saw their sign for New York pizza by the slice. Haven't had East Coast style pizza in ages. Stopped in there two weeks later and got two slices. It is definitely East Coast Pizza. I inhaled it! The owner was very nice and personable. Can't wait to order for delivery.

    Chicago does not have NY pizza. I don't know why, because although I can appreciate the deep dish pie, I cannot stand what they call thin crust around here. It is like cheese and sauce on top of a matzoh. So we have been searching for some regular pizza here, and Pizzaco is close. It's far from perfect. It just doesn't have that sine qua non. Yes, it's foldable and greasy, but it's not the same. We've ordered some of their other food - the calzone and the eggplant parm sandwich - both disgusting. But the pizza fits the bill when we just want... pizza. Not a pie; not a cracker, just some normal pizza. So it's OK.

    Pizzaco's is the closest thing to true NYC pizza in Chicago that I have found. Being from NY, I have tried pretty much every pizza place in Chicago that was recommended as NY Pizza. Gigio's on Broadway is a close second, yet their crust has an interesting aftertaste. Piece is alright... The crust at Pizzaco's is nearly right-on, yet the sauce isn't the salty oregano filled tomato base that NYC pizza's have and there's one spice in the sauce that sometimes stands out as bitter and somewhat ruins the flavor for me. Sometimes I get pizzas without the bitter sauce and that's good enough for me to keep trying Pizzaco's. Even with the bitter taste, Pizzaco's is the closest thing to NYC pizza and is now my go-to place for thin crust. I don't understand how people reviewing are saying this isn't NYC Pizza. I was getting so sick of the hard, cracker crust pizzas Chicago likes to serve. IN THE LEAST, Pizzaco's is an extremely far departure from the cracker thin crust mediocrity that is Chicago thin crust pizza. The prices are a tiny bit high, yet its good pizza! I also had the Caesar salad with fresh Parmesan sliced on it and fresh lettuce. The dressing came in little retail containers and was ok. If you order a salad for delivery be sure to get extra dressings on the side. If they made their own Caesar dressing I would order salad again, otherwise I'll just focus on the pizza. I will order from Pizzaco's regularly. I'm hooked.

    This place totally made my night. I moved from NY to Chicago 8 months ago and ever since I've been dying for a good slice. Don't get me wrong, I like good deep dish, but to me, that's not what I think of when I think of Pizza. Pizza to me is a thin crust slice with cheese and tomato sauce, greasy and crispy. All the places I've found serve up 'thin crust' that just generally suck, it's like an afterthought on their menu. Who wants pizza cut to tiny squares? Not me. I had passed PIE a number of times in the past few months but didn't bother because I figured it would be like all the rest. Tonight though I was hungry and my stove is broken so I figured I'd give it a shot. The place was exceptionally clean and inviting. I found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and enjoyed talking to Rich, the guy behind the counter. After having my first slice I told him about my dilemma of not finding good places and how pleased I was to find a place that served up good 'new york style'. He told me a lot of customers have been saying the same, although the NY style thing was purely unintentional, they just wanted to make good pizza but they've had so many people say the same that they decided to add the words 'New York Style' to their menu. I didn't try anything else but I went for a second slice. I'll definitely be back often. If i had to say something negative it's that i wish the slices were a little crispier and I wish they had a soda fountain... but I can live with cans.

    My friends and I got this pizza for delivery late, late one night. It was awesome to say the least. It came in the time they said it would. It was so super tasty. I remember some of the cheese fell off the pizza and I made a fallen off pizza cheese slice with this bit and it was like a pizza cheese taco. The cheese was very chewy and yummy. It hit the spot and I wanted more. We just had the cheese.

    I am SHOCKED this place gets good reviews. First of all, our delivery order was about 15 minutes late, which isn't a huge deal except in Chicago where you're already waiting an hour and a half for a delivery. I could have overlooked that if the pizza didn't suck. What is it with Chicago? It is impossible to assume that pizza will be... you know... edible. And my expectations are not that high.This pizza has very little sauce, the cheese is awful, all the toppings fell off the pizza due to the buckets of grease, the crust was tough to chew and pretty much tasteless. We will not be ordering from here again.

    Finally, someone figured it out. In the six years I've been going to Tai's til 4 I have seen a handful of different businesses try out the place next door. All have failed. I'm hoping that this place makes it because I think it's ingenious to place a pizza by the slice joint next to a bar that doesn't serve food and has tons of people there all week long late at night. My one complaint is that they do close for a couple hours during Tai's non-peak hours and then reopen late night when the crowds roll in. This is a problem because I go to Tai's early since I'm friends with their employees and a regular patron. I'd prefer (on my non-totally smashed beyond repair nights) to get my grub on before midnight.

    I love this place! Great folks working there, the cubs on the TV when they are playing and the pizza... let me tell ya, I am from the east coast and the pizza in the midwest SUCKS... chicago pizza is not pizza, its a topped biscuit but at Pizzaco's I found heaven... no more ordering frozen pizzas for delivery from NYC... its got a great sauce and the floppy fold is PERFECT... I can now stay in Chicago LOL

    I would have to say this is the best NY style pizza that I have come across in Chicago. It is thin and it is cut into Slices.....not squares!!! There are so many places that advertise themselves as making NY pizza. Not sure where they learned but they have no clue. Thanks god, I stumbled across the place one day walking home from a Cubs game...I was dying for a slice!!

    Randomly ended up at Tai's Til 4 next door and walked out at 2:30 a.m. thinking "man, a slice of pizza sure would be gr..., holy $hit, perfect, Pizzaco!" For $3 a slice, this pizza hit the spot. The pizza was so so, but the location and timing really made my night. If I happen to find myself on this corner after midnight, you will find me inside Pizzaco with a mouth full of cheese and peperoni.

    The people at pizzaco were really friendly and attentive. The food was great too. I enjoyed their simple but tasty New York style pizza . I'm new to Chicago, so the deep dish pizza can be a little intimidating. My boyfriend and I ordered a med size pizza and devoured the entire thing.

    Seriously, people -- four stars?? What is the matter with you all? My pizza was floating in so much grease that it soaked through two paper plates and left a grease puddle on the table. The cheese was bland and tasteless, and it would have been an improvement if the crust was also bland and tasteless but instead it had a weird medicinal flavor. And I've had more authentic New York pizza in Utah for heavensake. And what the hell kind of "pizza by the slice" place isn't open for lunch??? The people were really nice and I wanted to like this place, but I don't see myself ever eating here again.

    seems a little pricey for pizza, and their sides are very limited..but holy crap that's some good pizza. i'm looking forward to trying the sandwiches which seem a little more cost-effective. i guess if you divide the cost of the pizza by the number of meals it provided it's really not that bad either. this is the kind of food you enjoy - not eat while drunk and then forget having eaten it at all until you trip over the cardboard box.

    Great pizza. I'm always tired of the same ol', same ol' of Lakeview delivery and I stumbled upon Pizzaco. They offer unique toppings, the sauce and crust are just right, and delivery is very quick. What more can you ask for?

    I agree with Lou W. and am SHOCKED about this place's reviews. Pizza was blah. I think I ordered from them when they had just opened and thought nothing other than "NEVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN". Tastless and bland and couldn't understand how they'd stay in business.

    I think this is the best pizza I've had in the Lincoln Park/Lakeview area. I wouldn't say it's exactly New York style, but definitely close enough to hit a craving. Great crust, just the right amount of cheese, and really good sauce. Big & foldable slices, too. Yum! Who can say no to that?

    Best thin crust NYC style, delivery around Lakeview. Period. Fresh, chewy but crunchy crust. Sausage had a good flavor. I had ricotta cheese put on it and it was very, very delicious. Only complaint, Italian ice wasn't homemade. Oh well... Can't win 'em all.

    So, I have to be honest here. When I moved nearby, I fully thought this place was some sort of a front... they have, in my opinion, the weirdest/worst hours ever, and when I'd walk by, literally no one was inside. I tried to come here twice & they were closed; once for lunch on a Saturday, closed! And again after being out at the bars on a Friday [and let me tell you, my "being out at the bar" ends at like 11pm, so it wasn't late], closed! (Which brings up another concern, how is a pizza-by-the-slice joint next door to a 4am bar closed by 11pm? What is this sorcery!?) So why the 4 stars? I finally paid attention to the hours on the door (4pm - 9pm most nights), and we swung by to pick up some slices for dinner. This pizza is pretty damn good. As close to a legit NY-slice that I've had, and did I mention cheap? Two people can get carry-out for under $10. Friendly service, to boot. But yes, I still find the hours mind-boggling.

    Its food it's not horrible and I believe it doesn't matter where you get your pizza as long as its not from Florida lol they use real sausage and real pepperoni it is then i slices were sitting there for a little bit Italian they can't make fresh pizza when you get it by this place all the time so I'll try to get a fresh one next time I would go back.

    The place was pretty good. We checked it out after reading the reviews. We had a half pepperoni half cheese, with garlic knots. The crust was crispy, food was fresh, and the garlic knots were awesome. The service was really nice. The only thing that I would say is to put more cheese near the crust and if they update their decor, the place would be a goldmine.

    My search for a good pie has ended!!! I love that the crust isn't super thin and that a slice folds perfectly in half for maximum eatability. Their pepperoni is sooo good. And so is the veggie slice they offer at the counter. And don't worry about cold slices! They're kept in a HOT box, trust me, I've touched it on accident several times. Pizzaco's (no, no, not Pizza Co.) is the best. I've been a customer for quite some time now and have seen all of their changes. From late night hours to vegan pizza, down to Monday's off. (which sucks because I always crave them on Monday's!) But hey, they need a day off too!!! Garlic knots have changed my life. No matter what I order, be it 2 18inch pies or just a 16inch for me and my honey, I always get knots. Customer service is outta this world! The owner (I assume) is fantastic! Always on top of his game and so ready to please. I have never met a nicer guy. I usually call ahead for pick up since I live super close. I'm almost ALWAYS quoted 35-45 minutes and it's usually right on time if not much sooner. They never disappoint. Support Local Shops! I *heart* Pizzaco's!!!

    Thank you, Pizzaco's, for being a really solid, consistently good and reliable pizza place. They recently saved our night with a fast Pizza order after a miserable delivery experience from another italian restaurant (see my other reviews to find out where). I've been ordering from Pizzaco's for a few years, and they are very reliable, no drama, and always good. They serve NY style thin crust (thin but slightly chewy crust). As you can tell from the other reviews, that is hard to find in Chicago with any quality and reliability, and they are reasonable on price and very nice to deal with. Nothing fancy. Just solid, reliable, delicious NY style pizza right in the heart of Lakeview in Chicago.

    I moved to Chicago from Queens last year, and I've been looking really hard for an authentic NYC pizza place. This is pretty darn close to my hole in the wall joint in Astoria. Granted I've never had the slices... I always order a whole pie and its been fantastic every time. I'll keep coming back. Wish they were open later!

    The best N.Y. style pizza in the city. Whenever I need a break from Chicago style pizza I order Pizzaco's. I have been a customer for quite sometime. This place is as good as it gets. I have never actually eaten at Pizzaco's, but it's one of my go to delivery spots. My only complaint would be: I wish they were open later. Other than that, great pizza and great service.

    Finally. Solid New York-style pizza in Chicago. I've been looking for good NY-style pizza for 10 years since I moved from New York to Chicago. They say that it's something in the water in New York and that therefore it can't be duplicated here in Chicago. Well then the guys at Pizzaco's must import the water from New York because this is pretty darn close. Is it exactly like a slice from Ben's Pizzeria in Washington Square Park? No. But ex-New Yorkers like me longing for that recognizable, delicious, thin-crust pizza will not be disappointed here. Seriously. The best New York-style pizza in Chicago hands-down.

    THIS PLACE is the only good NY style pizza in chicago. Friendly service and the delivery is quicker than they quote but who cares about that ITS THE PIZZA. Closed on Mondays, and doesn't open until 4. This is a go-to, given the superior and consistent quality.

    It is almost impossible to find good New York style/thin crust pizza here in Chicago. Since I'm not a fan whatsoever of Chicago Style (gotta take Jon Stewart's side on this debate) I've been on mission for years to find good thin crust pizza and my wish for foldable cheesy (slightly) greasy pizza has finally come true! Delivery was decently quick the times I didn't pick up and is always fresh and very hot! The Neapolitan (with mozzarella and anchovies) is a personal favorite, although it was VERY fishy last time I got it. Not sure if someone just over did the anchovies or if it was a bad batch or what, but I'm assuming it was just an off night and will definitely get it again. Bottom line - Say no to those forks and knives! Best New York Style pizza I've found in Chicago. YUMM!!
