Excellent service! The food is bursting with flavor. The service was superb. This comes highly recommended. We WILL be returning to this restaurant again and again. There are so many choices on the menu. I had the red curry it was great my wife had the Basil Chicken. If you get a chance, please stop in.

This place is right next to my house so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered for pick up and it was short only about 15-20 min wait. The inside of the restaurant looks very clean and I would definitely dine in next time. The food was very delicious. Their signature dish is the Pad Thai and that was delightful. Full bodied taste and not very spicy. The crab Rangoon was real crab which was also very good. Spring rolls were also up to my par. I work for a Japanese company so I eat a lot of Asian food. This place is definitely one of the better Thai restaurants I've been to in Chicago. Definitely recommend.

We were hunting for a new Thai place as our current fave is blocked from us by insane construction on their street. Sadly, their loss is O'Cha's gain. It's about halfway between my office and my house. I called them when i got in the car, 15 minutes later I was picking up my food, 10 minutes later, I was home. We got the Pad See Ewe for my wife and kid. We asked for very mild but there was hot spot in there. It's okay, the kid is gonna hit a hotpot now and then, right? Given the other reviews on here, I kinda expected their mild to still be spicy but they did a good job toning it down and keeping the character of the dish. I got the Drunken Noodles with Chicken. They were saucy and delicious. The vegetables tasted fresh and the texture was nice and crispy. good stuff.

Tip: check in and you can get free edamame or prawn chips. -Tom yum soup (w/ shrimp): lots of veggies in the soup. Tasted ok, I just wish it would have been a bit more spicy and sour, though. -Drunken noodles (w/ chicken): good amount of food. Taste was ok, just wasn't as flavorful as I'm used to. I'm not sure if I'm used to Thai food in California, but I thought the food here was just alright. The service here, however, is great.

I like this place. It is probably my favorite Thai place in the area. Consistently good food. Great spring rolls and curries. Pad Thai is too sweet, but still good. However, when Spicy Basil Chicken is supposed to come with green beans and their isn't one bean on the plate when the meal is delivered, I have a problem. Too bad really.

This time of year in Chicago, you just want to crawl under the covers and hibernate until Spring. But I promised myself that this winter, I wouldn't do that. So when looking for a place to eat on a cold wintry night, nothing sounded quite as warm and comforting as some Thai food. Even better, close to home Thai food. I've passed O'Cha many times and finally stopped in. It was pretty empty but it was also like 5 degrees outside. The food was awesome. We split shrimp dumplings which were tiny, steamed bites of happiness. I had the Spicy Basil Chicken. Super finely chopped chicken with peppers, basil, and onions. It was the perfect level of spicy. My friend ordered the Thai fried rice. He did ask for it to be medium spicy. Bad move. It was so spicy it blew his mind off. Which only proves my rule that you need to try how a Thai restaurant prepares something before you ask them to make it spicier. BYOB and the food is super fresh and delish!

My entire life I feel like I've never really, truly been impressed with a local Thai delivery place. This place has changed that. It's way better than anything I've ever ordered.

  • Sea P.

The restaurant is very easy to miss because the sign is small. However, the place is clean, nice, and contemporary. I ordered chicken wings and basil fried rice and they were FANTASTIC. In addition, the service was very very friendly. I will definitely come back!!!

Good food and service. We went here on Monday lunchtime. The lunch specials are cheap so we went for the green curry and basil stir fry they also come with a egg roll. The egg roll was very tasty and came out quickly. Shortly after our mains followed. The green curry was ok..nothing special. It wasn't spicy at all, so if you want spice request it. The basil stir fry was good but came with chicken mince...I would of expected it to come with chicken breast or something along those lines. The food was still good and you got lots of it! So a great deal for money indeed. Service was also good.

Best Thai food in the city. I've been twice in the last month alone and have not been disappointed by what I have ordered. The food is consistent, service is friendly and the food arrives quickly. The decor is clean and the space is small but nice. My favorite is the Drunken Noodles: Your choice of meat stir fried with wide rice noodles, garlic, chili, broccoli, tomatoes, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, and basil leaves. The dish is flavorful with the right amount of heat. I particularly love it with shrimp but the chicken is also good. My husband is a big fan of their Pad Thai: your choice of meat stir fried with thin rice noodles, bean sprouts, green onions, tofu, scrambled eggs, and crushed peanuts with chicken. Pad thai is extremely common but someone easy to mess up and O'cha has been spot on both times we have ordered it. We have also tried the Spicy Basil Chicken: Stir fried minced chicken with onions, green beans, bell peppers, mushrooms, and basil leaves with garlic chili sauce. This dish was really good but I think I prefer the strips of chicken instead of the minced and will be sure to to ask for a substitute the next time I order this dish. Last the Basil Fried Rice Fried Rice: crushed garlic, chili, bell peppers, onions, and basil leaves is excellent. The rice has a delicious a smokey flavor that I absolutely love. This dish is great with either shrimp or chicken and not to be missed if at O'Cha. Since I've been back, I know I will keep going back! O'cha would get 6 stars if the option existed!

My go-to to-go place. 5 stars for consistency and just good basic Thai food. I get takeout from here frequently and have never been disappointed. I also love eating there - it's BYO, with great service, and cutely decorated. My favorites are the Crab Rangoons, Tom Yum Shrimp Fried Rice, Panang Curry, Basil Chicken, and Catfish. Seems like they recently revamped their menu items - I've always loved this place but lately it is even better and more flavorful!

  • Peggah G.

Came here on a Saturday and everything was pretty great. The restaurant is BYOB, but we were fine without. The lunch special runs every day from 11ish til 3:30 everyday. Not just weekdays, which I very much appreciated. Their egg roll was pretty delicious, and I don't really like egg rolls at all! The Pad Se Ew that I ordered was by far the best I've had at any restaurant in the city. I got take out from them again, and it was still superb. This is definitely my favorite place to get Pad Se Ew in the city now, and I love that it's within walking distance!

  • Shradha A.

We ordered lunch last Friday and it took 1hr 40m to deliver. Our massaman curry and panang curry were both good but the wait time was ridiculous!

  • Joshua M.

Decent Thai food delivery place. Love their Pad See Ew. Pad Thai is good, but lacks peanut flavor. Delivery was on-time, and the food was hot. Delivery driver was friendly. Will definitely try them for future orders. Pricing is pretty standard.

  • Sara T.

BYOB good Thai food and portion sizes extensive menu reasonable prices There were only a few diners on Tuesday - no wait! I ordered the Thai basil chicken which was perfectly seasoned and super duper flavorful. I would order it again. The Thai iced tea was also exceptional. Meanwhile, my friend enjoyed her mixed vegetables entree and her vegetable soup.

BYOB Thai with good reviews? Yes, please. Just went there on a fabulous date night and it was perfect. Ambiance: small, well-lit, trendy, yet basic, decor. Perfect for a 2-4 person gathering and it allows you to bring your own wine? Why not?! The food was pretty damn good, if you ask me. I had the chicken pad Thai and it was the best Thai experience I've ever had in Chicago so far. $8 for a generous portion! Totally worth every bite and calorie consumed. Happy Katy. For two people to dine under $20 with a great bottle by your side of YOUR favorite wine...I say this place is a must. Go! PS. Make a reso in advance for quick seating!

Very tasty and authentic food! Smaller restaurant, but my 3 kids were able to sit and eat without causing too much chaos. Very friendly owners, clean space, and excellent food. I recommend the Thai Green Papaya Salad, Drunken Noodles, Rad Na, and Panag Curry.

Boy and I came last night after a movie. I've had this place bookmarked for a while and I was excited to try their food, especially the tamarind shrimp. I've been looking for place that had a shrimp dish similar to a Thai restaurant in Paris but couldn't remember what it was. We ordered the green papaya salad (not very spicy at all but generous portion. It tasted as if it had been soaking in sauce rather than tossed in it.), lime chicken (very light and crispy skin which the boy loved), spicy basil catfish (tasty, but expected more) and tamarind shrimp (honestly, it tasted like shrimp doused in sweet sauce. I was pretty disappointed because I thought there would be a stronger tamarind flavor. However, we enjoyed the grilled pineapple). The place itself is very minimalist and you wouldn't have known this was a Thai place unless you saw the celestial figure in the back. The portions were generous. As a matter of fact, the portions got smaller and smaller as we continued to eat! Overall, the place looks nice. I'm willing to give them another try because we didn't order any noodle dishes. Plus it's BYOB!

Really solid Thai on Damen and friendly service. Had the Pad See Eew with vegetables - vegetables very fresh and plentiful. Sampled their pad thai egg roll which was excellent. Very nice portion sizes, too. Not super close to my house, but will absolutely continue to keep them on the rotation.

  • Ramona Q.

This place is fine, nothing outstanding. Very quick if you pick up/takeout.

    (2)
  • David H.

It's a decent place. I had their egg rolls. I'm not sure why, but they were crispy everywhere except the bottom. They were really soggy on the bottom. I also had the green curry. Lots of Thai basil, but the curry was missing the complexity of a good Thai curry. It was mostly milky coconut and heat. I'll have to try it again. Maybe lunch isn't the time to go.

    (3)
  • Michelle M.

Just had the Tom Kha soup, it's tasty. I'll come back and try more!

    (4)
  • Hasti K.

Tried O'Cha for the first time. We ordered Drunken Noodles and Pad See Ewe with Shrimp on both. We also got a Cucumber Salad. The cucumber salad was bland and disappointing in comparison to other Thai places. The noodles seemed fresh but the flavors were very similar to each other. As a whole: this experience was nothing to "oooooh and ahhh" about; I'd say this is an average restaurant. Would I recommend this to friend? Probably not. It just didn't stand out or seem unique to me.

    (2)
  • Charles W.

Calamari - horrible, not exaggerating Crab rangoon - 90% cream cheese Pad see ewe - pretty solid actually Pad thai - too sweet, not good Drunken noodle - ight Temperature - hot as fug Only real upside here is BYOB

    (2)
  • Tracy D.

This place was great!! I went with three friends, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the pad see ew, which was quite tasty, and my friend's duck curry was awesome! Also, the dipping sauce with the veggie gyoza = YUM. Overall - delicious food, great service, very reasonably priced, AND BYOB! I will definitely be back.

  • Tina T.

I love this place. They have the nicest people working there. And there food is always light and 100% real Thai food. Every time I dine out my food is always hot and ready by the time I go and pick it up. Keep up the great work :)

  • Matthew H.

Excellent rangoon, satay, Panang curry, and Pad Thai. quiet, class dining room in great neighborhood. Highly recommended if you are in the area and want solid Thai.

    (5)
  • Neha N.

Not too many vegetarian options. They use fish sauce in their curries, which basically eliminates half the menu. I ended up getting the drunken noodle with tofu and was not impressed with the flavor. On the upside, their thai iced tea was tasty.

  • Jackson H.

I work a few doors down and love Ocha for lunch mid week. They open early at 11 so its perfect for me. I usually get the Veggie Pot Stickers, a side of peanut sauce, steamed veggies and a diet coke. Minimum order on credit card is $10 so i make sure that diet coke is added in :-) the Pad Thai is also pretty good, better than when they first opened. When i get it for take out, i have them make it with 1/2 the amount of noodles, but its always a full order anyway. I don't know how else to say, less noodles. Still a neighborhood spot that i love.

Ovreall very nice atmosphere. Service was friendly and prompt. Food portions are generous and quite tasty. Good experience, will do business again.

  • Zach E.

Ocha' thai cuisine was the first place of dining i had when i moved to Bucktown. Located at the cross of Damen & Dickens, you've got a little intimate restaurant serving cheap, but delicious thai food. Defiantly a fan, the service is spectacular. The mood at night is superb for a great date.

    (4)
  • Mara M.

Ocha is ok, but in general I think they over-season everything a bit too much. It seems like the chef loves his black pepper, and adds it excessively when get a spicy dish. Peppery and spicy are not interchangeable. The staff is very friendly, and the spring rolls are good. Thai iced tea too! I just wish they would ease up on the pepper. One other thing is they play the same annoying mix of smooth rock hits on repeat. O well.

I came here on a Friday night with a group of friends after finding a long wait at En Hakkore down the street. We were happy to see there was no wait at O'Cha and we were seated right away. The decor is surprisingly modern and the space is rather small. We ordered a variety of dishes and appetizers for the group. Everyone thought their food was very good, but I felt the service was slightly lacking. We waited a long time to put in our order, and they brought out the dishes as they were done cooking them instead of serving us all at once. This made for some awkward conversation surrounding food temperatures, hunger levels, and speculations as to when the rest of the food was arriving. I would order take-out from here, but probably wouldn't dine in again unless I had some time to kill and I wasn't starving.

  • Serious C.

Wow is this delicious. I'm very impressed and would definitely recommend to others and I will certainly eat here again. Ordered panyang curry, pad Thai, and chicken fried rice for delivery. It showed up hot and the favors are amazing. It has a terrific fresh taste and I'm looking forward to trying their dining room next time. I'm happy they're part of the neighborhood!

    (5)
  • Gracie M.

Best Thai food ever. I'd eat here every day if I could. If you don't try the Thai Iced Tea while you're there, you're doing it wrong. Service is wicked fast, too.

Fantastic food. The garlic shrimp was delicious. Great service and owners are great as well. I can't type much because I'm in a food coma. I'll be back!

The person who took the delivery order was hilariously distracted, speaking into two different phones, both apparently very close to her face, and thus I never knew if she was talking to me.

  • Todd S.

The best red curry and spring rolls in the city. O'Cha Has been open for four months now. The food is great this place will be a huge hit. The prices are very reasonable and it's BYOB.

  • Kent S.

Even though we live in the neighborhood, we didn't know about this place until one of our neighbors told us about it. We have since gone back several times and I can say we have not had a bad meal there. It's authentic Thai cuisine that is some of the best we've had in Chicago. Having recently visited Thailand, I can vouch for the quality of their menu. Look beyond the ubiquitous pad thai and fried rice and you'll find some amazing Thai treats like the green papaya salad, fried pork and various curries which are prepared exceptionally well. The cooks there are very versatile and if there is a specific Thai dish that you are looking for, but isn't on the menu, ask and I bet they will be able to make it for you. All in all, I think this is one of the top Thai restaurants in the city and I hope people check this place out

    (4)
  • Taylor O.

I really wanted to like O'cha... But I just didn't. The pad Thai is fine, but the lime chicken and crab Rangoon are just awful. Cute byob in a cool neighborhood, but I don't think I'll be returning.

    (2)
  • Justin K.

My favorite Thai restaurant in city. They actually made it spicy upon request and just generally had more flavor with some subtle and nice surprises. I love that its affordable. This area needs more semi casual, quality and affordable places like these. Also, the owner was there when we went and she was very passionate and welcoming. The rest of the service we received was also good. Will definitely be a frequent visitor.

I've been to O'Cha's about three times now and have LOVED every single meal I've had. I went with my boyfriend; he ordered the pad thai with chicken, and I ordered the Massaman curry with chicken (spelling?). Everything is delicious, fresh, warm, and O'Cha has great atmosphere and the sweetest owner! We've only met the woman owner, and she is the biggest sweetheart! They're always checking up on the customers, and although the place is a bit small, it never feels cramped or too full. We also ordered pick up once and got 3 orders of the O'Cha wings, which were also really good. I love edamame and they have it as an appetizer! So good! I really want to see this place succeed.

    (5)
  • Jimmy G.

This place is really really really good. The crab Rangoon is the best you will have anywhere and I've eaten Asian food all over the world. They have also learned the lesson that so many other thai places need to learn in Chicago. THE MEAT MATTERS. Their shrimp is first class quality while still being reasonably priced. Your first order should be Shrimp Pad Thai, Chicken Satay, and Crab Rangoon. Share all 3 between 2 people and you'll be in heaven. Delivery is great but I have to say that when you dine in, they really put a lot of beauty on the plate and because it's byob, it's a very affordable high class experience. And....like I said before, the quality of their ingredients compared to other thai places is above and beyond. You won't be disappointed.

    (5)
  • Flee Q.

Very flavorful dishes, nice staff, modern decor. Plenty of veggie options as with most Thai food restaurants. What sets them apart is really the flavor. The Drunken Noodle I had was listed as spicy and was mild spice and loaded with flavor. Inexpensive, BYOB and good location. Excellent addition to the neighborhood!

Finally a good thai place in bucktown! We came here on a Sunday at 2pm and pretty much crashed a family reunion that was taking up most of the restaurant. Before we could realize our mistake, the waitress sat us down so we figured "what the hell". The food was excellent and the right price. I got the green curry and my boyfriend the shrimp basil fried rice. Mine was awesome, spicy, super flavorful; his was good but probably could have used some sauce. For a cheap-ish thai place, the restaurant is really well decorated and has a great ambience. The owner (I think) also came over to see how the meal was, which I really appreciated given that it was 2pm on a sunday and hardly a popular time to make the table rounds. Looking forward to coming back for dinner to try more dishes and take advantage of BYOB!

I always get excited for a new Thai option, especially one that is walking distance from my house, but this place didn't impress me much on my first trip. I think I will go back to try again though. Nothing about it was bad. I went around 8pm on a Wednesday and it was deserted. Our service was good but then again it better be when you are one of only two tables eating. The food was just OK though. We had Basil Friend Rice & Pad Thai and I will try something different next time. Had to ask for sauces to try to spice both dishes up because they were seriously bland at first.

I went to this place on a whim, decided to try it because it seemed like a new establishment and I love supporting new folks. I really liked O'Cha Thai. The food was really fresh, and really good. The wait staff is excellent, really pleasant, and attentive. Its not a place do go for an "experience", but for good to-the-point food. I certainly hope they keep this level of quality throughout, because restaurants tend to slack off when they've become comfortable. Anyhow the 5 stars are for what it is, a not so fancy but very clean and comfortable Thai restaurant. I definitely will go there again.

    (5)
  • Rudy M.

So far only experienced delivery from O'Cha, but the food has been good and arrived hot. Spice levels are great, vegetables and chicken tastes fresh (no after taste) and the tofu has a nice firm texture.

  • Hugh B.

Recently had dinner there. We were a party of 4. It was a weeknight and fairly early, so not crowded. Decor is modern. Music was old jazz. Servers very pleasant. Food very high quality. Some Thai restaurants serve gloopy food. This was not. I had shrimp with garlic sauce. It had fresh broccoli and the shrimp were plump and cooked correctly. Two others at the table had a green curry - spicy and delicious. All went home happy. And--BYOB, so very reasonably priced.

Wow it been six months sin I leave review but I been coming here maybe 4-5 times a week? shame on me. yummy just got done eating and still enjoy every bits of it. I love pad thai been coming here for lunch when there is no waiting, love that there is free wifi so I could just sit and enjoy my lunch as long as I want too:)

  • Christina M.

"Just okay" thai food. We've had better pad thai and pad woonsen at less fancy thai places. The atmosphere of the restaurant is charming, even though they were playing a bizarre circa-2010 Top 40 playlist. The service was great and the meal was quick but the pad thai was way too sweet. The pad woonsen was near flavorless. We probably will try to go elsewhere next time.

    (3)
  • Michael M.

Totally fine Thai cuisine, which is definitely a welcome addition to this stretch of Damen. It's nothing fancy, but the food is pretty good and the prices are extremely fair. A great place to go if you're looking for a quick meal, and obviously BYOB if you want to kick things up a notch and / or start the weekend off.

My husband and I ordered delivery from o'cha yesterday and we were sadly disappointed. We were very hungry so you wouldn't think we would be very hard to impress but the quality of the food was definitely sub par. We ordered the Rama noodles and the Duck Soup noodles (not the most traditional choices, granted). The Rama noddles were starchy and all stuck together at the bottom of the dish and the sauce was a think kind of peanut paste on top. The duck was incredibly fatty and the noodles were bland and tasteless. We barely ate anything! Even our appetizer the chicken satay arrived soggy and cold. Will not be ordering from here again!

Found O'Cha while looking for a place in Bucktown, and was not disappointed. Stellar service and amazing thai food! I definitely recommend the beef oyster sauce. My friend's curry was also quite delicious. My neighborhood has been missing a go-to Thai restaurant, and I'm so happy I found O'cha! Next time, I will definitely do BYOB.

The best Thai food anywhere close. Really happy to have this excellent addition to the neighborhood. Great food, good service and an appealing design with clean lines and tasteful accents. They should do well once the neighborhood catches on!

I had dinner at O'Cha Thai and it was amazing! The crab rangoon was spectacular, a perfect blend of crab & cream cheese. The shrimp and vegetable tempura was lightly breaded and delicious. The shrimp pad thai was phenomenal. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. I will definitely be coming back!

    (5)
  • Zach W.

The two stars are because there was some food that was good, based on a recent delivery. The basil chicken was incredibly tasty. That said, the lack of stars was for their abysmally bland pad thai. I rank Thai places on their Pad thai, and it was just so incredibly plain. I wonder if there was even any tamarind at all? Any spices besides black pepper? For shame.

VERY happy to have found this place on Saturday night. Got lucky with some parking and there was a table to two just waiting for us when we walked in at about 9:00. The place was packed, and a little loud, but I was willing to overlook that since the food and service were both outstanding. We had the shrimp sumai appetizer - the dipping sauce was incredible! I had the Drunken Noodles and my hubs had the Panang Curry. I generally can't even stand to be near a curry dish because it smells like rotten foot - but this curry was spicy and wonderfully sweet smelling. I even tried it and liked it! My dish was fantastic - huge portion - very well cooked fresh crisp veggies and a lot of chicken. They do not skimp on the ingredients (which I find a downer at many Thai restaurants!). Also had the Thai Iced Coffee and Thai Iced Tea - both were heavenly. Will definitely go back with some liquor since it's BYOB.

In the mood for some great Thai food? O'Cha doesn't disappoint! We've done carry out several times and are always pleasantly surprised. Tonight we tried the Lime Chicken appetizer for the first time. It was GREAT and definitely enough food as an entree. It was like a sweet and sour chicken, Thai Style. In the past, we've tried the Panang Curry, Basil Chicken, Pad Thai, Crab Rangoon all very good! The service is fast and friendly, food is fresh. I think we will have to dine in sometime soon because they are also BYOB!

There are several very mediocre Thai places in the Wicker Park/Bucktown, Logan Square, Ukrainian Village area. Every time I go to order Thai, I conduct a lengthy search with the hope that some place got way better reviews than it had last time or that a brand new awesome place opened up in my neighborhood. With the reviews of O'Cha Thai, I thought the latter had finally happened. I went in to order and wait for my carryout. I ordered the vegetable pot stickers, the drunken noodles, and the Rama noodles with tofu. There was deal where you could get a free order of crab rangoon if your order was over $25, so they threw those in as well. The food was prepared and ready to go in under 10 minutes which I was pretty impressed by. I grabbed it and headed home. The appetizers were both great. However, when I opened the rama noodles, it looked like they have just thrown sauce over cold noodles and almost raw tofu without even bothering the mix it up. It was pretty disgusting. My boyfriend said the drunken noodles weren't great either. I don't think I'd give this place another try because of how bad it was the first time.

Just a solid as heck Thai place with all your usual fixings. I think they get most of their business via delivery, but my fiancée and I like coming here to dine-in. It's not expensive, and the service and ambiance is a lot better than some of the other lower-priced BYOB places on this stretch of Damen.

This place is such a great addition to the neighborhood. There aren't a lot of good Thai options and O'Cha fills the void. I have dined in here once and gotten take out as well. The interior is super cute and it's BYO so it's a great option for a casual dinner with friends or family. Having only dined here twice, I've tried quite a bit on the menu. Standouts for me are the wings for an appetizer, the salmon entree, the sticky rice, and most of all the Tamarind Shrimp. I've never had a Thai dish I've loved this much. Perfectly cooked lightly tempura battered shrimp served atop huge pieces of grilled pineapple with a sweet tamarind sauce. Order it. You can thank me later. Make sure to get the iced coffee too! Even if you have wine present, the coffee is still a must!!

Pick-up price is different than whats on the online menu. Guess there's a surcharge when you pick up. Pad Thai was just ok. Go to Penny's down the street; better and cheaper.

Nice atmosphere, the food was tasty, everyone was very nice. The dish I got (cashew chicken) was fried, which I didn't know from the menu, so that was unfortunate. I'd go back tho!

Update: I am still in love with this place, and I'm usually the mayor of it on FourSquare. (claim to fame, heller!!!) Anyway, if you ask for it, they will use gluten free soy sauce for any of the dishes. Hooray!

Always great takeout (have had it twice). And always on time when I arrive for pick up. Place looks really clean too!

Yum! Ordered for delivery. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Good portion sizes, good prices, and free egg rolls with an order over $20. My fave was the beef pad see ewe followed by the crab rangoon, which were adorable little pillows of fried and creamy goodness. Great find for authentic Thai cuisine!

So, after Zen Noodles (our favorite Thai takeout place) closed, we searched far and wide for a new regular spot. We tried a bunch around the area and no one really did it for us! We were on a walk one day and stopped in here to try it. The owners/employees were soooo nice, brought us drinks while we waited for our food (were taking it to go), opened all the doors on our way out since we had our giant stroller. The pad thai was really good. It is actually lighter than a lot of the pad thai I have had. Less sauce and a tiny bit thinner noodles. I like it! Makes me feel like I am not eating so bad;) The Pad See Ew was, meh, ok. Nothing special. I really like the crab rangoon though! This has become the new place we order from. Finally we found something!

Very cute BYOB Thai restaurant in my neighborhood. place is a little small, so seating is kinda close, so unless you are whispering, make sure you don't mind your neighbors knowing your business. As a life-long Bucktown resident, I will admit that sometimes I avoid restaurants in my area because they seem to be very pretentious. This place looks it, but is definitely NOT pretentious - to the contrary, we felt completely at home eating there in our shorts and t-shirts...but you can certainly dress up and have a great night out here. Portions for entrees we ordered were HUGE. I couldn't finish mine. We had vegetable potstickers as an app - they were very good - we loved the dipping sauce and got more to have with our entrees. I was hoping to try the mango with sticky rice - but we were so stuffed. I may just get it next time, and either share the entree with my son or SO, or just get a few appetizers. Prices were very reasonable - a huge PLUS - we will definitely be returning to O'Cha.

As someone who lived in Thailand for 6 months, I generally try to avoid Thai restaurants in the U.S. because they lack authenticity. The one exception I make is O'Cha. I can't get enough of their Thai iced tea/coffee, crab rangoons (best I've ever had), wings, and lime chicken appetizer. As for entrees, they do noodle dishes really well (pad thai, pad see ewe, drunken noodles). I'm also a huge fan of their garlic shrimp and duck curry, since they are super flavorful. Their prices are reasonable, and these dishes just hit the spot! Go- you won't regret it!! P.S. BYOB ;)

What a gem-- this food is delicious, served in large portions, and very reasonably priced. My FAVORITE is the pad see ewe with tofu (and I am a meat eater, the tofu is just so well-cooked). The asparagus and shitaake , green papaya salad and basil fried rice was great as well (the fried rice was very spicy though). The pad thai is alright-- I found it a bit too ketchup-y for my tastes, but other people seem to like it so you should give it a try and decide for yourself :). O'Cha is only a few blocks away from my house, so I definitely think I've found my Sunday night go-to take out place!

Best Thai takeout in Bucktown. The owners are so friendly and even throw in a few complimentary items for frequent guests or on the rare occasion that they mess up an order. Every dish I've tried has been amazing.

We came in almost at closing time and they took us in to dine in, which made me happy because I was looking forward to having dinner there...it was amazing..food was fresh and very tasty, we ordered two appetizers which one of them was the chicken satay w/extra peanut sauce yummers, I had a shrimp pad thai it was fresh and tasty, we were the only one there, so service was quick & she was very attentive & nice, we never felt rushed out..I will go back!

Very typical little neighborhood byob Thai place. We went for dinner and stayed way past our meal was over finishing our wine, but they were so nice and didn't say anything. Food was good - they have a lot of noodles, a couple curries, 5-6 other entrees, and lots of appetizers. It seemed like they have great take out deals too - free appetizer if you spend over $20 or free entree if you spend over $40. Overall, perfectly good option if you're in the neighborhood

And welcome to the area O'Cha. Bucktown and Logan Square are severely lacking in quality thai outside of silom 12, so O'Cha is a very very nice addition. New Thai places are always on my radar. I love thai, and I really love how it works with riesling and champagne. O'Cha being right down damen from me made it even more on my radar. I will say how happy I am that they are open at noon. My work schedule is all over the place, and their hours work with my schedule. That also makes me happy. Now, what really makes me happy is their food. There are lots of ways to go with this, but I almost always focus on noodle dishes as a control for me knowing how much I will like a Thai place. Needless to say O'Cha's noodles rock. While not on the full level of places you can find in Lincoln Square or Uptown, this is right in that slight notch below. Please let me note that that isn't a slight at all. I always hold places to that standard, so with O'Cha meeting up to that standard, we're talking some good shit. What I love most about their noodles is how quick they melt in your mouth. Even when a dish has some heat to it (also a nice thank you for not dumbing it down for us non-thais), the noodles are still savory and spot on. I have yet to dig into the curries, and that is a shame on me. But, I look forward to eating here and getting delivery from here more and more. Thai and sushi are two of my favorite things, and O'Cha has rocketed up my list of places I keep going back to.

The food was good, what I'd expect of a Thai place, but don't necessarily always get, hence the fourth star. The steamed shrimp dumplings were like shumai at Japanese restaurants on the east coast, with a thick, crushed peppery sauce that was pretty nice, although the dumplings were definitely frozen and then heated up. The curry was tasty, with a decent amount of chicken, maybe enough for 1.5 meals. the salmon was overcooked, so we should have specified that I guess, and it came swimming in a coconut milk sauce, so not a low-fat meal. The hot tea is Stash. The service was quick and I think everything was cooked fresh. The restaurant was a bit cold in February, though, with apparently just a space heater in the middle of the room, leaving everyone not in the space heater's path on their own as far as warmth went. Tons of street parking on the surrounding blocks.

We' ve been there a number or times to try different dishes. Always took friends or met up with them at O' Cha. First, you will like the ambiance, clean, modern and stylish. The food is very fresh, delish and very reasonably priced. Their appetizers are awesome: start with the Sunshine Pork, Chick Satay and o' cha wings for some real Thai flavors... Yum!! Venture to the Three Buddies entree for an authentic northeastern style offering or try any of your favorite thai dishes, shrimp Pad Thai. I also love their Thai Ice Tea (sweet, aromatic and rich!) You won' t be disappointed. The owners are the nicest couple and the service is attentive. Bon Appetit!!

I live in Wicker Park and have been looking for a go to Thai restaurant as I love Thai food. It was tough going for a while until I stumbled upon this place on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. Everything I have ordered has been excellent. Very flavorful and quality food. Currently my favorite dishes are the Pad Woonsen, Spicy basil catfish, and thee Crispy chicken wings.

My wife and I love Thai. We've tried a million places on the north side and some are really good. O'Cha isn't even close to the competition, far above the next closest competitor. The Pad See Ewe is probably the best around, the sauce is amazing. We haven't had anything bad here, everything seems to be on par. We also order for delivery and they are always consistent with their estimates.

We ordered delivery. The free crab Rangoon was ok. Pad Thai was mushy and bland. Panang curry was also extremely bland and not at all spicy. It tasted like watered down coconut milk. Pad see ew was flavorless. Nothing was "bad", but it certainly wasn't good. I guess I'm spoiled by the real Thai food at ATK.

EAT HERE TODAY!!! I came here for my niece and I birthday dinners, this place is her favorite restaurant and now it is one of my favorites (shout out to Jordan) walked in with a ten top had no problems, apps are great, loved the chicken with lime. The entrées were out of this world! The catfish was good, the curries were sublime, the drunken noodles....amazing! The manager was very friendly and accommodating service was nice, the restaurant is BYOB, any white wine, micro brewed beer and champagne pairs well with the food, dining room is comfortable. All around home run! Will be returning soon and often.

Decent Thai red curry. Nothing particularly memorable about our visit. The rama noodles are really weird and the Pad Thai isn't so great either.

This place was great! Their lunch specials are awesome! I shared a pad thai chicken that came with crab Rangoon (or choice of egg rolls) and a tom yum soup for only $13! Waitress was super-- we came in at 2:46 and she quickly came over to tell us the lunch specials would be over at 3pm to put our order in quickly. The lunch specials aren't half sized meals either they are all the regular size. She was also really good about keeping my water refilled, I didn't have to ask even once!

I placed my order and was told it would be an hour for delivery. An hour and a half later they hadn't shown so I called to check in and was told the driver left 20 minutes ago and would arrive shortly. I'm now going on over two hours and have not received an apology for the delay or my food. At this point, anything will taste good after waiting this long but needless to say this kind of service will keep me from ordering again.

Love this place. After Penny's, there really aren't a ton of Thai places in Bucktown. After Ocha opened, my wife and I were excited to try it. We were very impressed with the takeout. Once we tried it at the restaurant, we were even more impressed!! The owners are absolute sweethearts and its BYOB. Really nice place with great food at reasonable prices. Go here!

Okay, so I ordered food that came with free vegetable pot stickers. The filling looks deceptively meat-like, but Art (the owner) assured me that they are completely vegetarian. That's good to know. Everything was pretty standard Thai takeout. Curries were a little sweet but tasty none the less.

Quaint no frills Thai spot in Bucktown and BYOB! Delicious Tom Kha soup to start and a so so chicken satay. We split tofu pad see eew (sweeter sauce that was addictive) and shrimp fried rice. Unlike most Thai places with the small rock shrimp this one had large flavorful shrimp. We had a reso for a Friday night and it started to fill up but the reso wasnt necessary. They do a ton of take out and delivery business as well. I'll definitely be back.

O'Cha is my new favorite Thai place. Good food...consistently, which is nice...and good service. I feel bad cheating on my favorite Thai restaurant in Lincoln Park, but what can I say? If you're a pad thai fan, they won't disappoint you. My personal favorite is spicy chicken basil. I'm used to it being with ground chicken instead of sliced chicken but it's still good. I'm not a fan of their grab rangoon but like their fresh spring roll.

It's nice to have a new Thai restaurant in the neighborhood, I've gotten take out from here twice but dined inside last weekend with my bf. The food I've ordered had has been really tasty and consistent - red curry, massaman & panang curry, fried tofu, spring rolls. The entree portions are huge, but I always seem to put a dent in anything I order. I've seen other diners with soups, they look/smell good. You have to ask for Thai chili paste, not on the table like other Thai joints. Spicy food on the menu typically comes out as spicy, good flavor. It's BYOB, the 7-11 or Polonia Liquors are right down the street if you need to pick something up. The interior decor is nice, however the two times I've dined in the lighting and music was...off. One time they were adjusting the lighting like it was a dance party, and another time the lights were full on at 9:30p. The music they play sounds like terrible top 40/satellite radio music. Great for take out, ok for dining in. 4 stars for food. Prices are reasonable.

I start by saying Im VERY picky with Chinese/Thai food. Im a fan of O'Cha. Went with my fiance the other night for dinner. We started with the lime chicken appetizer. OH-M-G. Its a huge portion, and the chicken is so lightly fried and delicious. The lime sauce is on the side, which keeps the chicken crisp. The sauce is so good Id pay $5.99 for a bottle. Heck, Id drink it straight from the bowl if I could. Potstickers were good. Shrimp pad thai was amazing. Light and fluffy, and well balanced flavor. This is a new go-to place. Next time I may order the lime chicken app and some fried rice and be happy!

Much better than your average small Thai place. A little pricier than Penny's Noodles, but much more authentic and for most dishes better taste. For those eating in, they have a nicely remodeled dining area and are BYOB.

I picked up dinner from O'Cha last night. Really good spring rolls and cucumber salad, but the Basil Chicken that I ordered came with ground chicken. I found this a little strange, and it really affected the texture of the dish. Also, you have to order at least $15 of food for pickup or delivery, unlike the other thai places in Bucktown/Wicker park. If you're just getting dinner for one, $15 is a lot of food. I might be back to try a noodle dish, but will steer clear of chicken...

Staff is nice enough, always coming in to get the curry. And it's byob so who can complain.

Really good new option in the neighborhood! Our food was very fresh. We had the spring rolls and the spicy basil stir fry and the veggies in both were extremely fresh. Both dishes was very good, though we would have liked more shrimp in our stir fry. Our thai iced tea was good too. Service was excellent! It was pretty quiet, but it was a week day night. We will definitely be back, but would likely try carry out next time! 58/365

My boyfriend and I were sick of Penny's and Manee Thai so we tried something new. We've ordered about once a week now for the last few months and have never been disappointed! Every dish always arrives hot, tasty, and cooked to perfection. My favorite dishes are the drunken noodles and spicy basil. But we've also tried the pad Thai and curries. Not even a pad Thai fan but thought it was delicious!!! Have never dined in yet but had any problems with delivery. Definitely recommend!

They were very accommodating when we called about coming in with a larger group towards the end of the evening for a birthday dinner. The veggie dumplings & Drunken Noodles with tofu were delicious. My sister was wild for her Pad See Ewe tofu. Service was polite & efficient.Clean & modern atmosphere. BYOB, & we really took advantage of that. Will be back!
