Drifted away near Wrigley and honestly, accidentally walked into this place but glad we did. We were there on dollar taco night and even though small, they were mighty. SO tasty! Not only was the food great but the service was even better. The beer range was solid too. A few cleaning issues for my taste, but overall it was a great stumble.

I've only been here once, so maybe this review is unfair, but I wasn't impressed. My boyfriend had a friend coming to town, and we thought it would be fun to get the night started with some trivia before going out on a Friday night. We looked up what bars had trivia on Fridays, and there was only one -- Merkle's. We were stoked because I live in Wrigleyville, and this bar was only about a block and a half from my house. Also, the website listed an all you can drink special for $15 as well as a sweet deal on wings. It couldn't have been more perfect if we planned it! Why the negative review then? Well, we show up and ask the bouncer when trivia starts. He says it's been cancelled. Disappointing, but what can you do? We decided to stay anyway. There was a band, and the guys were hungry, so why not? Our waitress comes by and while screaming over the super loud music we ask "What specials do you have tonight?". She says, a little rudely I might add, "None". No explanation, or elaboration or anything. Here is the thing, I'm not super high maintenance or nit-picky when it comes to bars (especially not Wrigley bars) but if you say you are going to have something -- be it an event, a special, or whatever, is it really so hard to just to have it? My boyfriend ordered the tacos, they were all right. His friend ordered a grilled cheese and fries, which he says were pretty spectacular. The fries and the band (which was loud, but played good songs) are why they get two stars. However, we left feeling disappointed and frankly a little cheated. I'm not saying I'll never go back, or that this is the worst bar around, I'm just saying it wasn't a good experience and when there are thousands of other bars to pick from, ones that actually deliver on what they promise, Merkle's will never be the top of my list.

This was the first wrigley bar I have ever been to and love it. It's narrow but cozy. We would always come on a Friday night because they have $15 all you can drink wells and beers wristbands that also include free food ( usually pizza and wings). The deal last as long as their trivia does and it's a lot of fun! We usually try to get a group of 6. Of course, there's always a bunch of people cheating but one one really takes the trivia too seriously so it's a good time. I really suggest this place as a bar to start out at.

Generic Wrigleville bar. Cheap beer, loud music and typical bar food. Nothing memorable - more of a place you stumble upon if you're coming or going to a Cubs game.

The least offensive bar in Wrigleyville. We went on a Wednesday for the rock 'n roll Bingo, which was pretty fun. You get a Bingo card with a bunch of songs on it, and when they play one (assuming you can recognize it, as they don't tell you the song title), then you cross it off until someone gets Bingo. Although I wouldn't plan my week around this event, it's something different to do on a Wednesday. The bartenders were knowledgeable about the beer (good-not-great selection), and much friendlier and more patient than the typical Wrigleyville bartenders. I liked them a lot. I got the "award-winning" wings because I live for wings. They were very good, but nothing extraordinary. The beers ran about $5-$7 per pint. All in all, this place is the fastest runner in the one-legged race that is the Wrigleyville bar scene. Also, they do not appear to have air conditioning. It was 90 degrees outside...and 90 degrees inside. We were baking. The ceiling fans do nothing. Nothing, I tell you.

All local beer on tap! Excellent staff in a great location with good simple food. Get the El Pastor... This is not a typical Wrigleyville bar....This is a neighborhood joint mashed between douche bag haven bars. This is the place to hangout before a Cubs game, enjoy local beer and eat.

Horrible bar with TERRIBLE management. Asked the manager to turn on SEC network (mind you, there were about 10 people in the bar) - he refused to try and was extremely rude. Won't be back.

Merkle's is my kind of bar! GO HAWKEYES! It is a great atmosphere for Iowa games and gets packed with alumni. Even on days when Iowa does not have a game, I always enjoy Merkle's. The staff is friendly and the food is pretty good. The wings are a favorite of many of my friends. I have enjoyed many Iowa games here as well as Blackhawks games. When we won the cup - I was in Merkle's as Wrigleyville went crazy. Great memories - great bar.

This is the only place in Wrigley I will ever step foot into because of their beer selection and the tall blonde bartender named Anastasia. She's so cute!

I loved this bar so much, until last night. I tried to go to Merkle's with a group of 15 last night and one of our friends was turned away because he was wearing "gym shoes"- black basketball shoes with black jeans, a nice shirt and a vest. The door man then preceded to let a group of 3 guys in wearing the same style of shoes. When I protested this, I was told to "get the fuck out of the doorway". I typically really enjoy this bar and chatting with Russ. My friends Megan and Christie and I have watched many hockey games here. However, I don't know if I can handle coming back to a bar that clearly has some type of racist agenda. The three guys that were turned away were black, the group that was let in was white. Really disappointing to see this bar perpetuating the negative things mentioned in your Yelp Reviews. We went across the street to Red Ivy and the Deuces and had no problem getting in. Just thought I'd let you know in case you didn't already that your dress code policy is randomly enforced, and it seemed racist to me.

Merkles!!!! It's the start of the Bears season and I thought I was going to my favorite bar that has Bears brunch. Nope. I am so disappointed. I had to go to Dueces. I hate Dueces! But it doesn't suck as much as Merkles without Bears brunch.

What was a five star... Favorite bar in Wrigley is 1 star after some insane treatment yesterday. After the Cubs game, being a hawkeye, this is where I take visitors. Lower chad factor than most Wrigley bars; reasonable drink prices; and usually a good guy playing music. That coupled with the 50+ Iowa games I have watched here makes it my go to. Never again. I am 31, I was with my cousin 25 and her boyfriend 26 from Ireland We get to the door they hand their passports to the door guy who says.. And I quote... We don't let people from Ireland in. I thought he was kidding. Is that even legal?!? Needless to say not a place for foreign visitors- was a completely embarrassing experience and I will never set foot in Merkles. Jack & Gingers / Four Shadows for all Iowa games.

The type of place I would take a date I didn't want to take on another date. The food is greasy and hit or miss. They like to talk about their wings "best in show bla bla" ...sort of like giving yourself a nickname nobody else in the world calls you by. The drinks come often and cheap. Most importantly as far as the date goes it's loud and full of the same guy that walked out of the Wrigleyville clone factory--model cargo shorts and sandals. Yet I've been here...

Went there for an Iowa Basketball game. Every single person that came into the bar was an Iowa fan so it was a great atmosphere. They've embraced the Iowa crowd and it is a wonderful place to watch a game for any Hawkeye. The beer was great, service was great, and the food was good, as well. I really enjoyed the wings and the mac and cheese bites.

I've only ever been here on a Friday night, so I can't comment on how gross this place is on Cubs home game days or during weekend late-nights with the gross bro crowd. Friday night at Merkle's is trivia night! From 6-9 p.m., the bar offers a wristband special: $15 for domestic draft beers and wings or $25 for better beers, well drinks and wings. This is a great special to have on trivia night because I can definitely drink $15 worth of light beer and have a few wings, which makes that entire bracelet worth it. Trivia gets pretty busy, so arrive by 630 to grab a table for trivia at 7. Parking outside sucks and its terrible, so don't even plan on that as an option. Take a bus, train or cab. The bar seems to empty out around 10 since trivia is over, but I'm not sure what happens later in the evening. Come for trivia - it's worth it.

"No Pizza only Khal Kalash" is one of my favorite lines on the Simpson's. I feel like this guy should serve up a warning about the food here. Only Khal Kalash probably wasn't this bad... or maybe again it was. Appetizer Sampler ordered for a bunch of friends: the potato skins were still half frozen, the wings were soggy, the fried cheese wedges only half warm, and well at least the pretzel bites were almost decent. My burger was a soggy mess that was almost palatable, but my stomach seemed to disagree. The beer selection is paltry and I don't know why anyone would go here over the other wrigleyville choices. They really hit a boner on this one. I guess the dollar bills tacked up all over the walls should have been a sign. Oy. In short: "No bar food only Khal Kalash!" "What do you have to wash this stuff down?" "We have mountain dew and crab juice" "Yeckh thats disgusting, I'll take the crab juice" Heck the crab juice might have been a better choice then the food and drinks here. Avoid at all costs

Stopped in for a quick beer after a cubs game and it definitely did the trick. They have a pretty good beer selection on tap and regular prices. The atmosphere is very pub like with lots of signed dollar bills on the wall and sports stuff.

The best part about this bar is the open mic on Monday is in the backroom. The guy Paul and the lady Amy do a great job. This place is a lot of fun.

I wish yelp could implement a "zero star" option. I don't normally hang out in Wrigleyville, but when I do, I need to be hammered. Looking for something lowkey on a Friday night, friends and I found that Merkle's was one of the only locations around hosting trivia. So we decided to try it out, knowing it would be a younger and douchier crowd, but hey - trivia. My friends beat me there by a bit and had already ordered food when I arrived. It was about 7pm. The place was busy, but not packed to the rafters. It was at least 30 minutes before our waitress came by again - to take my order OR to bring their food. 45 minutes for bar food is excessive. For at least 10 minutes, my friends could SEE their food on the kitchen pickup window while our waitress stood by the order terminal. She would spend much of the night there...which is puzzling because if you're not visiting your tables, you're certainly not taking any orders to input. The first time she came to our table, I placed my full order, guessing I wouldn't see her again. My friend had asked for honey mustard and buffalo sauces for his chicken fingers - she gave him ranch and bbq. He waited to catch her. He also needed another soda. I finally went up to the bar with his glass to ask for more from the bartender. She saw me, and came by our table. He asked again for honey mustard and buffalo sauce to which she responded, "We don't have anything like that." Oh. Sweetheart. I gently explained to her that he wanted TWO sauces...those two sauces. Not some weird combination sauce. Rough stuff. He never got those sauces, and barely touched his food. The appetizer we ordered showed up 15 min AFTER my burger - cheese curds - and inedible. I'm not sure how one messes up cheese curds but these were the worst - more like melted goo in a bowl with some fried crap mixed in. The wayward waitress didn't return. One of my friends had finished eating at least 30 min prior - so I bussed her dishes away since no one else was. By the time I finished my burger and my other friend had completely given up on his chicken fingers, I bussed those dishes as well. She saw me do it, and said a sheepish thanks and mumbled an apology. I get it - some nights are really busy and some bars understaff. Had she come to us in the beginning and said "Hey guys, I'm really swamped, please bear with me and I promise I'll be back" I might have understood. But I saw her basically hanging around at the end of the bar, looking lost, not hustling. I've been a waitress in a bar where the only money I made was tips - you gotta hustle or just go home. She got crazy lucky my friend left a 20% tip because she was possibly the worst waitress I've ever seen and I will NEVER go back to Merkle's again. Or Wrigleyville if I can avoid it. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

They seriously have the best chicken tenders in the whole city. I don't even know why. So delicious. This place is usually not that packed which is awesome. I can always find a seat at the bar. The bartenders are cool, kinda standoffish, but good service. They have nine million beers of all kinds. The bar is big so it would be great for a big group. Their jukebox/touch tunes sucks. It has almost no good hip hop but this place is in wrigleyville so........

place is ok and fun after a cubs game but i felt compelled to write my first one star review this place mainly due to the bouncer. The last several times I've been here, the bouncers have a "holier than thou" attitude wanting to kick people out for no real reason and to not let certain people in. I got threatened for being too close to thw band (they are my friends) and then again for unbuttoning a button on my shirt as it was pretty hot (wtf?) I hope the bouncers are evaluated and certain measures taken to get rid of the bad apples. A review below mine pretty much says the same.

Decent beer specials, lots of TVs for games, quick kitchen, polite staff. We had about 6 of the appetizers to share among 7 people and it was typical bar food so I wouldn't go back for the food. But it was a great crowd for a Hawks game and we did have a great time. It wasn't too crowded so that was nice too. All too often in Wrigleyville, you're cramped in like sardines when a big game is on.

BEST wings in the City. This is a great place for any Cubs game, Iowa Game, or if you want good pub food at any point. Awesome service and drinks!

This is a great place to come early on A Friday or Saturday to grab a few drinks before you start you night!!! They usually have specials here on the weekends. Very relaxing bar where you can sit down and watch a game. It tends to get crowded at night but it's more of a mature crowd usually. They also have an upstairs where they sometimes do karaoke which is pretty fun!!! One of my favorite in wrigley!!

I can not believe you no longer have the Bears buffet. It was the only reason worth coming there for a game. Sooo disappointed.

It certainly helps that I am a big Hawkeyes fan, but going to Merkles provided a very nice happy hour experience. Drinks and food were half off last night (Tuesday Night), so that made me happily surprised when the check came. I had the Spicy Chicken Wrap, and it certainly lived up to the name - it was very spicy, and quite tasty. The waitress was attentive and very sweet. I would definitely go back - this is one of the better happy hour / Wrigleyville locations I have been to. All in all, it's really clean, the food tastes good, it has a casual and relaxed environment, and there's friendly service. Recommended!!

The employees were very unkind right off the bat. My only experience here was about 2 months ago and the place was empty so service was great and the bartender was nice. On this particular day, the doorman was very rude to deny me and my friend into the bar before even being able to pull out our IDs. Then the bouncer tried to convince me that my friend and I had been there earlier and started a physical fight. I had no idea what was going on and thought it might be a joke since this was only the second bar I had been to all night. I obviously knew this wasn't an actual occurrence, so I left the bar in confusion and pretty upset since a couple of our friends had to leave the bar to meet us elsewhere. Don't go here unless you want to come into contact with the rudest staff.

One of my favorite bars in wrigley! Merkles has delicious food. Every time I get the spicy chicken wrap and am never disappointed. They have really good specials too. Everything including drinks is half off on Tuesday and appetizers are five bucks on Thursday.

Wrigleyville isn't really my scene, but once or twice in the summer I will make my way up there for some good old laid back day drinking. Merkle's was our first stop on the day drinking trolley this Saturday. Pretty standard bar. It wasn't super packed and I liked that. We were able to find a table pretty fast and get drinks and food ordered. LOVED the mini corn dogs. I would come back. Staff was nice and attentive. Drinks were ok and reasonably priced.

  • Mike H.

Fred Merkle must have been a very average man and ballplayer. This is how I sum up Merkle's: it's not good, it's not bad, it's just there. There is nothing that really separates this place as being unique. I've never had an amazing time there, I've never had a bad time. The drinks aren't expensive, and they are not cheap. The food is standard bar food, some things being above average, some being below average. I do have to say I've always had great service from the bartenders and waitresses here, and it's a chill place to watch a game. The bartender on football Sundays is very friendly and attentive. If I'm walking by this place, chances are I'll stop for one, since, you know, it's there.

When my friends and I go out for a laid back, fun evening, we got to Merkle's. The food is delicious and the service is always fabulous. The potato skins are sooooooo good!

DELICIOUS chicken wings! You really can't beat the $0.65/wing specials (minimum order of a dozen). Their Asian ginger wings and BBQ are the best!

Came here for the Friday night trivia, bombed it. Though the staff was nice enough to bring out a table for my party. Very nice. The beer was cold and fast. They also had a great wristband deal going on. 15 bucks for 3 hours of draft and well drinks. The food was regular bar fare, nothing spectacular. Good bar.

It's an average "bro" bar in Wrigleyville. But I do like that they have a 'half off' everything on Tuesdays. Made my day a lot better, to be honest. They DO have fishbowls that are the size of your head and are good if you are planning on getting hammered! (I split one with three other girls, ended up drinking the majority of it because I didn't realize how much alcohol was in them-- and proceeded to get really drunk) They do have drink specials on weekends, which is nice (most bars in Wrigleyville don't on weekends.) But it's nice to see there's something going on :) It's average, not the best-- but it's aiiiiight.

    (3)
  • Kevin C.

The few times I stopped in was for the half-off Tuesday deal or to grab a few drinks before seeing a show at the iO Theater. You can't be the Tuesday deal which everything is half off except for the expensive stuff (not valid when there is a Cubs game). Nothing super special about Merkle's. A good place to catch a game and slam some beers. The burger was pretty tasty laid on a pretzel bun with crispy fries tossed with parmesan which kicks them up a notch. They did have a $6 burger basket deal during the Cubs game on a Tuesday. I've only visited this establishment before the night crowd moved in or never showed up, not sure. But overall I had a good experience with the bar tenders and wait staff. So no complaints there. I don't see myself heading out of my way for a night out at Merkle's. If you're in Wrigley and looking for a spot that's not so crowded for some sporting event this is your place.

    (4)
  • Rachel M.

Merkle's may be a bro dude attraction on the weekends but on weeknights it's really laid back and a nice place to watch a game or have a conversation. The food is above average bar food, but they do have some stand outs. The soft pretzels are by far the best app they have and come with a variety of dipping sauces. The spinach dip is also a appetizer favorite. Their Tuesday special knocks food and drink down to half price which is a great deal considering the outstanding tap they have. The craft beers are only 25% off on Tuesdays but it's still a great deal. They frequently update their page on beermenus.com and keep their own website pretty up to date as well. Service is always stellar and with a smile. Even the bouncer will take time to have a conversation with you if he gets a chance.

Great place. Cool atmosphere and a great spot to catch a game. On Mondays they have a really cool open mic with some really funny comics. Perfect way to start your night after a hard Monday at work! Come down and get on their great drink specials!

$10 for a makers on the rocks. Oh, and this place, despite being 50% full and relatively small, had a staff of 3 bouncers working. AND that's how you know you're in a bar where there are never, never nightly drunken brawls. Seriously though, it was 40 degrees out. One of the bouncers was wearing shorts, t-shirt and a ridiculous backwards hat with the brim flipped up. He was literally hunting for a fight. I'm probably just a crotchety old 26 now, but this must not be my scene anymore. I did however, see some ladies walking in who must have turned 21 the second before they walked in. So, come here if you're a happy young 21 year old that might want to fight people.

They need to change their name, stat. It reminds me too much of merkins. And not in a good way. We came for the food, which did not disappoint. I slurred to the waitress that I wanted a burger with cheese and bacon. God love her, she brought me the most magnificent burger a drunk person can feast her eyes on. Their tater tots are fucking amazing as well. I only stopped long enough to sing Cee-Lo Green at the top of my lungs, then promptly went back to stuffing my face. Good times.

Average little dive. Stopped in for a beer after a Cubs game while visiting Chicago. Nothing great, nothing bad, just kinda blends in with the rest of the bars in the area. Only difference is the name and the history of the guy, Fred Merkle. Yet another agonizing memory for Cubs fans. Oh well, a good reason for a beer I suppose...

Dear Merkle's, You are like my favorite tshirt that is always my go to when I don't know what to wear. You put me in a good mood when I am blue. You nourish me with great food and beverages. Ok, so my friends and I are loyal Merkle's brunchers...on game day or any Sunday really. Here's the deal, the owners don't know what a good deal is, drink wise. The brunch is pretty good and a decent deal. It's $10.99 for all you can eat til 3 and at half time they put out lunch type foods, where it's mostly breakfast stuff before that. However, the drink special makes no sense. It's $30 dollars for unlimited drinks during the Bears game on Sundays...so essentially it's $30 for drinks from 12-3. Ummmm, you have to have 9 beers or 7 mimosas or bloody marys for it to be even worth it. So you pay for brunch, $10.99 and if you come before noon, you buy your drinks, then you pay another $30 to have unlimited drinks...NOT A GOOD DEAL AT ALL. I have been loyal to Merkle's until today, when I realized the waitress didn't explain it correctly to us and we thought she meant it was $30 for brunch and drinks and then when we also asked the manager and he was like, did you see how much food we put out? as his response. He's a nice guy, but what does how m uch food you put out have to do with the ripoff "drink" deal you sold? Um, here's a hint, I'd suggest you go to Duffy's where it's $30 for brunch and unlimited mimosas and they have crab legs! (and I don't even like Duffy's, but at least their "deal" really is one and they don't change it from week to week so you get stuck with a $47 bill for one person for brunch and drinks during the noon Bears game!)

Before the rush of the post-Cubs game crowd flooded this place we had stellar service. Once the people began pouring in our service went to hell in a hand basket. I'd avoid this place during any busy time. It gets packed and the people become continually more rude. However, before the fill up, I was able to take down a fantastic burger. I think it was called the moo oink tweet burger. I love burgers with egg on it and this one (as well as the fries) were delicious.

I go to Merkle's pretty regularly for trivia on Fridays. I went tonight and my experience was much different than usual. Tonight our server was someone new. A very nice girl but had a little trouble keeping up. They do wristbands for a flat price on Fridays from 6-9. My sister got the wristband tonight and our friend did the same. when we ordered the first round, the server brought a beer to our friend who ordered a vodka soda. she felt bad and drank it anyway. Over the course of the night, we barely saw our server again. My sister was only able to get 2 beers. Eventually she gave up and just walked up to the bar to get another beer 5 minutes to 9. Russ was bar tending and very rudely told her that he would not give her another one. When my sister explained that our server only brought her 2 beers, he got a major attitude with her. I have been a bartender and i can totally understand getting an attitude with someone who is being a drunk idiot but my sister was totally sober and rational. Russ is the General Manager of this place. This is really surprising and unacceptable to me that he would rather give a loyal customer a bad experience than 1 coors light. We are also big fans of the Irish Oak which is right across the street. The Oak has live music and better TVs. Do yourself a favor and just go to The Irish Oak.

This is my hidden gem spot for pre-Cubs game sustenance. I say hidden because even though this is featured on the Clark street strip of Wrigley bars, I never have trouble finding a table. The deal you say? $6 burger and fries before Cubs games paired with $3 drafts. Say Whaaaat? My reaction exactly. The burger is just your standard burger, but the fries are crispy and the food comes out quickly. If you've ever been to a Cubs game, you know the importance of padding your stomach with a hearty meal and this is a way to do it to ensure that you do have a little money leftover for those $6.75 beers at Wrigley. PS: their wings are really really awesome.

Always a friendly face to greet you. The waitresses are super friendly and always prompt and willing to get you what you need. Love their Tuesday specials - half off your ENTIRE bill! I've learned that even though it looks packed, go inside and you're sure to find a table or enough space to comfortably stand in with friends.

This is my review for my experience on 8/11/12. So I go to the bar with the intentions of ordering a cocktail. Yes it was packed, loud and late. However, I didn't think that would be a problem. I told the bartender to make me a cocktail and just be creative. I would pay for it even if I didn't love it. I was in an open minded mood and I'm not a big drinker so I don't know many drinks. I didn't care what he would make I just wanted something new. He told me (with an attitude) he doesn't know what I want so he doesn't know what to make me. I told him just make me a fruity cocktail. He then said very rudely, "Nothing here is free!" I repeated the word "fruity!" He then told me he's been working for 14 hours, it's 1 am and that he doesn't have time for this. He then puts some type of drink from the tap in a glass and almost pushed it towards me. I asked him what was it, he told me it's a drink. I told him that's not a cocktail. I asked to speak to a manager. He said "I own this place!". I told him it's a shame. I gave him the middle finger and told him "F**k you!!" and walked out. My friends soon joined me outside because they too don't want to support a rude owner. He shouldn't be working with people. FYI my party was all Black and the majority of patrons were white. It's possible that the owner believes Black people walk into bars expecting free drinks. He needs to get his ears and reality checked.

Let me sum this place up with a few experiences and statements: Big dude gave me the I-wanna-beat-you-up-face just for existing. I can't walk in or out without doing several shots. Bartenders are cool. The KFC man is in there. You can dance after you've had all the shots and have lost your inhibitions. Other big dudes may wanna fight. Girls rub their fake ones on you. Just have fun and nobody will get hurt.

Didnt get a chance to see if they still had omlettes during brunch however the backroom setup and the food...insane! I love this place. Stopped by last week after moving away for a while and was blown away again! Plus the potatoes are insane! best brunch in town!

It's a mediocre Bro bar with average priced drinks and loud music. There wasn't much good or bad here, these just aren't my types of places. I wouldn't go back of my own accord.

Love it here! Was happy to swing back in for a drink tonight and see almost all the familiar faces I was hoping for. It was packed to the brim for March Madness but I was able to elbow my way up to the bar and grab some drinks. Service was quick, drinks were good and the vibe was energetic. I miss this place these days but fondly remember the many nights we all spent here drinking. Thanks for the trip down memory lane tonight Merkles!

Holy Jesus does this place blow. Maybe midnight on fourth of July isn't the right time to go, but judging from the other reviews, this place just kind of always sucks. The clientele is super weird- lots of late 20's to mid-30's sloppy folks awkwardly getting their groove on. It's not pretty. I mean, that's it. It's just a hole-in the wall sports bar in Wrigley. Not a place to see and be seen, just a place to drink and make bad decisions with slightly unattractive people who are past their prime. Too honest? Ouch. Sorry. We were supposed to go to Justin's. I'd suggest there over Merkle's any day.

There might as well be one of those signs similar to the ones out in Nevada or Arizona that say "last chance for gas for 110 miles" planted at the northwest corner of Clark and Addison for pedestrians on the west side of Clark heading south. Why? Because you really should think about whether you really want to cross Addison and enter the morass. That's a double entendre, and not a positive one. Whenever we venture from the north side of Addison to the south side of it on Clark post-Cubs, I know the afternoon is going to nosedive quickly. Wrigleyville between Addison and Sheffield might as well just be one long bar without any walls because all of those bars are almost the same. I've been to Merkle's probably about five times, including two recent post-Cubs visits because one friend seems to like it. Our Lady of Victory, pray for us. Merkle's is just like all the other bars on that stretch. The only thing to distinguish it from the others is the requisite guy with the acoustic guitar playing the usual boiler plate anthems. You know, Sweet Caroline, Rocky Mountain High, Livin' on a Prayer, etc. These people must all also be Dave Matthews Band fans. Geeeez!!! On a side note, why do all these solo crooners with acoustic guitars all look the same? You know, backwards hat, t-shirt, long cargo shorts and...flip flops. Oh, it's always flip flops. My goodness. I don't know why I just wasted so many keystrokes on this review of another generic Wrigleyville bar. Two stars.

This is solely based off of the couple times I've been there, which all happened to be Tuesdays. Everything is half off; and what do I think of when I hear half off...? I always choose rum and cokes as my poison. Top those off with a couple shots of henny and throw some fries somewhere in there. I always leave happy and satisfied with a tab no more than 25. Drunk for 25? winner winner chicken dinner.

  • Erin J.

1/2 off Tuesdays, can't beat them! Their food is amazing! Their drinks are heavy handed which is probably the best quality a bar could have if you're going to drink. Reasonable prices. Overall good experience. Oh, and having a jukebox makes it even better because you can play the music you want to hear...woo! Only critique, definitely get more social servers or encourage them to not be so cold. Definitely hit up Merkle's though...you won't be disappointed.

This place is fantastic! They've just upgraded their beer selection so they have close to a hundred different beers that are all well stocked. They will have what's on the menu! The staff really seemed to know what they were talking taking about and had excellent recommendations. They're not shy either, so they're always down for a chat. They always have live music late in the week which is a huge plus considering how good the music is. Servers are also very friendly. I know all by their first names! anyways, check them out. you'll find yourself going back.

This bar is SLIM. As in, there's not a whole lot of room to move, so maneuvering through the place when it's the weekend and it's crowded isn't particularly easy. At one point someone did manage to waste their drink...yup...all over my right foot. This would be the time to mention I was wearing open toe shoes. Anywho, it wasn't a bad experience. It's your basic Clark Street bar. The bartenders seem to enjoy chatting with me, so I take that as a plus.

Uh oh, Look what the cat dragged in (SMH). That's right, good ol' Merkle's. Unless you're a University of Iowa grad, 25 or under, 45 or older, don't even bother. Think Jersey Shore and multiply the douche factor times 1.5 and you have Merkle's. But wait, I'm a Jersey Shore fan, so maybe I should strike that from the Review. I'll get back to you all on that. Moving on..... Admittedly, I've come here willingly when every place on Clark Street is packed and I feel too important to wait in line, and Cubs days it is a much better crowd, but if you are in your late 20s or 30s, pass on Merkle's, just say no. Lots of Born and Raised in the Midwest young girls who are bombed all the way into next Tuesday, so it's always train-wreck great for people watching, but please don't show up here expecting to be productive. Define productive in anyway you see fit. As always, I think it's important to point out for college affiliated bars in Chicago: If you root for the University of Iowa, this place is a 5 star. Get in here ASAP! If you have no money and/or are 21-25, this is a 3 star on price alone, 4 star if you are two sheets to the wind..... Everyone else, come at your own risk. For me, it's a 2 star, but I can't rate it as such simply because I am NOT their target audience, so I have no one to blame for coming here but myself, and won't punish this establisment for running it the way they want to and making countless kids orgasmic over who knows what. That'd be liike me going to Hydrate and rating it a One star. Not fair. I also hate their pre-warnings/last call announcements for closing. They act like they're closing down Hip Hop night in Watts. (lights flashing violently) "Beware of Douche's gone wild, please exit in an orderly fashion with your hands out of your pockets, it could get dangerous!!!" Child Please...... Come to think of it, if you are here closing down this bar, you need to seriously re-evaluate your social life. If you fit the profile detailed above, head on in and drink yourself silly. You won't find me there (cough cough).

Oh Merkle's... I love going here for dinner/drinks during the week- esp. when they have half price appetizers- who doesn't love mini corn dogs, buffalo egg rolls and whatever else comes your way for dinner. Nothing like a little fried food on a Tuesday. They also have a great selection of bottled beer to choose from. I've had my fill of Miller, Bud and Coors so it's nice to see different choices to try. However, this isn't my scene on a weekend night- I mean it's Wrigley so I really shouldn't expect anything other than rediculousness, which is why I stick to dinner on a Tuesday :)

Probably best 'party' bar in Wrigleyville. I define party bar that can get kinda loud and has college age and post college crowd trying to have a good time. Also a No-Blazer zone. Great if you're trying to avoid the adjoining hell holes known as Mo's and Barleycorn

My favorite bar in Wrigelyville! They have a good menu and there is almost always some sort of promotion so you can really stretch your money. The pub trivia here is tons of fun. Definitely try to get here on a trivia night. Their best asset is their great staff. The bartenders are great, down to earth people and they'll make you feel right at home. Overall, a great place to come in and watch a game.

I stopped in prior to seeing the Mets play the Cubs at Wrigley. Met fan-friendly bar (although none of the bars I went into had antagonistic fans) which was appreciated. Awesome mac and cheese bites and even better tator tots-- crispy, golden brown, dusted with what seemed to be kosher salt-- they evoked fond memories of my high school cafeteria. Nice selection of beers on tap and fun atmosphere. Service at the bar was a little slow, but expected. Great place for some food prior to the game.

I am really loving their 100 beers in 100 day promo. It is a great way to sample a wide variety of beers that I may not have known about. This place is low key and totally my kind of bar!

Wrigleyville has been waiting for a brunch like this!! Highlights: fried chicken and mac and cheese sausage delicious potatoes Made to order omelets (best part here is that you order them and a server brings them to the table, you do not have to stand around and wait for the omelet while it cooks like some other places) *** Bottomless Mimosas *** Merkle's is such a laid back bar with great servers, it is easy to show up for brunch and find yourself here until the sun has long gone down!

Compared to the other bars located near Wrigely, this was cheap and low-key. They offer up $5 burger & fries during every Cubs home game. This bar has a college feel to it, which makes it perfect for watching Iowa Hawkeye football games. Looking for more Iowa Natives to review this bar, though.

This is your place if you're looking for an establishment that caters to inebriated cub fans and people looking to foolishly dance with a statue of Colonel Sanders. Ok, so I wore a sombrero, danced like a fool, and drank nasty shots. I can appreciate a bar that lets me make a bad decision sometimes.

Love Merkles in Wrigleyville. You have to go after or during a Cubs game and it is one of the funnest places in Chicago. The people are always fun and friendly and you must try the Booty Call mixed drink. Its expensive but it is literally a fishbowl full of alcohol with about 10 straws in it. Cool bar tenders, fun people, good times!

    (4)
  • Zach J.

Merkles is a fairly low-key, no frills bar compared to the other spots in and around Wrigleyville, but gotta give them props for offering up $5 burger & fries during every Cubs home game, which is noble considering all the other bars on Clark really take you to the bank when the Cubs are in town. There's no better deal to get a bite to eat before the game than Merkle's. Also props to their wait staff for being friendly inviting folks. Oh, and try their wings...probably the best wings I've had in Wrigleyville. So ditch the hype and go to a real bar and get some real good food at a great value. Props.

My first time in here was with some of my younger friends (25-27, I'm 30). Not that I'm an old fart, but I felt like should have had a cane and a Mr. Roger's sweater. I'm willing to bet that half the clientele that evening swiped their older sibling's ID to get in, or had graduated from Iowa earlier that afternoon. This actually brought on wave after wave of memories from my 21-25 year old days, and I wondered, was I this ridiculous? But I tease the kids because I love them. Anyway, the bar, I couldn't figure out. I get confused when the decor of the bar indicates "Neighborhood Pub" but then they are blaring The Chronic 2001 over the stereo system. The food was good, however, and we got very good service considering the busy state of the place. This could have been because our waitress recognized the fact that we looked like we had been promoted out of the mail room and would actually tip her more than $4. But hey, that's how the world runs, I guess. I'd go back, but probably only for a drink or twenty.

why do i do these things to myself? *saturday around noon. i have just woken up, and am feeling optimistic about spending a sunny day being productive before plans that evening. then... text from friend: wanna play in a flip cup tournament at 2? me: yes. try to visualize what a bar in wrigleyville that hosts flip cup tournaments might look like. yep, this is pretty much just what you expected. all the same pros and cons of the wrigley scene. pro: cheap drinks, con: douche factor. $20 pp for our flip cup team of 4 did include 6 pitchers and a free app, and the specials were $4 jameson shots and $5 bombs. lesson learned: do not go to clark street trying to show up a bunch of young kids, binge drink all day while throwing back shots, and decide to afterparty. you will end up like i did: passed out in bed at 8pm on a saturday with only vague memories of how you got there.

EWW. I walked in here yesterday to meet someone, and the entire floor was coated in a sticky substance. Not sure what it was, but I'd be willing to guess it's a cocktail of jager bombs, rum & diets, vodka crans, and whatever else all the college kids are drinking (or spilling) these days. To top things off, one of the bathroom stalls was having technical difficulties - and people were still using it. I'll spare everyone the details but suffice it to say that at that point, I almost puked in my mouth. After spending exactly five minutes in this dump, I abandoned my brand new drink and got the eff out of dodge. If I ever return, I'll have to be dragged back in.

This rating is in comparison to other bars in the area, and doesn't necessarily reflect it's overall rating in the realm of Chicago. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit here as I wasn't being grinded on by 18-21 year olds who were completely drunk and obvious to the rest of the world (yes - this is why I generally avoid bars in Wrigleyville on non-game days). There were a good mix of people, a decent selection of beers on tap, and it wasn't overly crowded for a Saturday night. There were plenty of flat screen TV's, and we arrived as games were wrapping up and tables were getting taken out to make way for the "dance floor." Luckily, not too many people were partaking until about midnight, after they had a souple of rounds of liquid courageto break out some dance moves in public. I noticed all the Hawkeye memorabilia, so it's definitely an Iowa bar if that helps anyone out during sports seasons. I'll probably be back for a lower key night, or just to watch a game.

Eh, it's okay. I've been here a few other times before but it was always during the day for lunch and drinks so it was always pretty bearable. I've actually hung out during a cubs game too and it was pretty tame. Sunday night after a barbq at my friends place, we decided to head over here. Not sure if I'm just getting older or that I just can't stand the Wrigleyville crowd, but wow, I was so annoyed. It was totally packed with people and almost impossible to get a drink. The crowd was less than desirable, to say the least. Let me say, the reason for the three stars is because I know there are worse places in the area, believe me. And like I said, I've had an okay time there during the day. Still, it wasn't enjoyable at night whatsoever. I would have much rather gone somewhere where I wasn't being pushed around by drunk post-college grads and actually able to get a drink at the bar. Maybe it's better during the week, or on a weekend that isn't Memorial Day weekend, but my experience was not a fun one.

While this is a pretty decent establishment that I've frequented, I certainly do not commend staff (nor friends of staff) - in fact I think it's run by self-righteous morons who forgot that they probably came out of a vagina once (and I do mean probably), and most likely went to either ISU, DePaul, Loyola, State, IU...well ok you get my drift. ANYWAY when an existing customer comes to your door (albeit closing time) to ask for their debit card back, don't pretend you looked for their card then send your clown-faced, curly-haired cromagnons to talk to you when they don't even work there and then have them tell you to "come back because you're too busy closing." What if you're from out of state like my ID says I am? Instead, like intelligent, civilized and caring people (for cromagnons this would be tricky, but like the bouncer who actually really did help me by getting my card back after the 3rd time I asked other staff members), just take the 30 seconds out to flip through your credit cards and give the people what they ask for. Don't forget where you came from (hairy vagina covered in placenta and amniotic fluid like the rest of us) or else that's allllllll you'll be left with - and no more customers for your dispensable lil wrigleyville joint. That is ALL. (I would have given it several stars if not for this. 2nd star goes to the winner and problem solver of the night - THE BOUNCER! The rest of you - take a hint; it's called good business practices and above all, non-douchebaggery. By the way I work at a bar too, and you guys SUCK). Goodnight!

The best bar in Wrigleyville to watch a sport's game or go out on a Fri/Sat night. The staff is really friendly and the atmosphere is fun! The second you walk in, there is Colonel Sanders!

SLEAZY PLACE: I signed up for Yelp using a real e-mail address just so I could write this review. I went to Merkle's for a bachelor party and it is your typical Wrigleyville bar--nothing special. They double-charged me for 3 shots of Patron. I left my money on the bar and they said they didn't get it so they had a large barback intimidate me until I paid them (again). I had a conversation with the bartender and told him I paid him before but he did not believe me and told me he would not serve me again when I told him I would not (re)tip him. This bar is the lowest class sleazy place I have ever been.

I can't give this more than three stars because, frankly, because it's in Wrigleyville. I am a die hard Sox fan (the White, not Red) and found myself in Wrigleyville prior to a crosstown classic. Walking down the strip of bars littered with inebriated Cub fans, this little establishment appealed to me the most because it looked the least crowded with drunken fools. After having our IDs checked at the door, my bf and I sat down and were promptly approached by a friendly waitress. As we waited for our drinks, my sister, and her bf, I noticed a large collection of Hawkeyes memorabilia...so I figure this is a hot spot for college football during the Cubs off season. My bf is ALWAYS eating, so he of course ordered the loaded tots while we waited even though I had taken him to Steak n' Shake on our way into the city less than two hours before, but I digress. The tots came promptly and were crispy and delicious. Our experience was limited to about an hour there but it was a comfortable enviroment, with polite and prompt service, not a lot of drunk people and good food from what I tried. If I were in Wrigleyville again and had time to kill before another classic, I'd definitely stop in for a bite and try something else. The prices were reasonable and the bathrooms were relatively clean for Wrigleyville standards, however I recall the doors to the stalls not staying shut which is always annoying. Luckily, I'm pretty stealth so I managed to MacGuyver the door shut.

I can't stand this place...I have been here on several occasions, keeping thinking, "Oh it will be better this time". NOPE! The staff is awful and always has an attitude...bouncer, server, bartender, whoever. The women's bathroom had only 1 working toliet on a Saturday night out....and the staff was pissed the line was 15 women long. The food is decent (only had the $1 burgers served with a free attitude from the staff b/c we didn't get drinks). Beer is overpriced. Good place if you are wasted and don't care what is happening around you. I will take my business elsewhere.

To escape the chaos that is Wrigley Field, Lee and I left the game a tad early to grab some food and to continue a little Monday night boozing. Walking down Clark Street always presents a plethora of options and it went a little like this, "Bar Louie? No. Goose Island? No. Mullen's? Not this time. Merkle's? Merkle's. . whaaaa?. . .OK." Besides having a geeky name, Merkle's was empty and had seats in the window. Ah, to enjoy the Wrigleyville breeze (aka stale beer and peanuts). The menu looked promising too. Seemed like a recipe for success. . . Nope. Service was horrendous. No one was THERE. I hate it when a bar/restaurant is empty and the servers seem "put out" to wait on you. Newsflash: THAT IS YOUR JOB. Firefighters don't NOT put out fires because there is no one in the house, get with it! As for food, the wings were slightly above average (I can see the appeal of 20 cent wing night, as long as someone is there to take my order). My BLT was OK but the fries left much to be desired. I'm kind of wishing I got the grilled cheese and if I'm forced to return I will try that. Still, the fact that Merkle's has poor service, mediocre food, and difficulty refilling my H2O unfortunately makes it a Wrigleyville "Don't."

I only go to Merkle's for their Fred's Friday Afterwork (still think it is called that), so this review is of that. . . 3 hour, $10 all you can drink including Bud Light? - Check Free Chicken Wings and Pizza? - Check Sport on TV's? - Check (usually) Big Buck Hunter Machine? - Check Only qualm is that they don't do this deal during Cubs afternoon games (but I can't really blame them for that, I wouldn't offer it either). I know people complain about the "return your glass to get a refill rule", but if you are nice to the waitresses they will bring you a beer while you finish the one you got (if you can't finish it while they are going to get another then don't ask for it . . in fact, just leave, you obviously can't drink a beer). I personally think the staff is cool. The first two times I went there I got too drunk and I forgot to tip the waitresses. When I returned I apologized b/c I felt like a dick and one of them said "it's cool, the way you were slamming those beers I am surprised you found your way home". Now on out me and the normal waitresses have a deal that I tip them before I get my first beer.

This place was decent - we were a bit nervous about parking but then, we got rockstar parking right outside of Merkle's. They had some live music there on Thursday night and some beer specials. Service was decent - we did have to flag down our waitress a couple times. Nachos weren't terribly impressive. Fries weren't that great either. We did get their burgers which were decent at $8 a pop - wonder if those are the same burgers that they have on special on Tuesdays? Wednesdays, I noted that they have 20 cent wings & $8 pitchers of domestics, too, so that may be worth coming back for. Overall, a decent bar experience in Wrigleyville - however, they do sponsor a couple sports teams and that may be a redeeming factor.

Typical Lincoln Park bar. But as others have written it is defiantly an Iowa bar so if you are a college student, an alcoholic, or just looking to hook up with someone this is the place to be. We went to watch the Iowa game on Saturday and although everyone had Iowa gear on only about a dozen people were watching the game. The atmosphere was more like a frat party than a sports bar. We got there over an hour early and still didn't get a seat and no one would move or even offer to share a seat with us. If you are in the mood to watch a football game go someplace else. If you want to drink twenty $4 coors lights with a bunch of 20 year olds go to Merkles.

My wife an I have been going to Merkle's for our post-game festivities since 2007. I love it not only because it celebrates two things I love, the Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes, but because of the service and the price. There are always deals going on and the food is damn good. Try the ginger-soy wings! We happened to stumble upon it after finding it difficult to even order a beer in the post-game mayhem that is the Cubby Bear. We found Merkle's and drank there all night at about half the price thanks to the special. Now, a lot of the staff remembers us when we come back every spring. How's that for hospitality? We don't even live in Illinois!

This place is amazing for being in the heart of high priced wrigleyville. They sponsored our broomball team and that night happened to be $3 you call it and $2 dollar burgers. So after a winning night on the ice we had a meal and tons of drinks for around $15 a person! Wait staff is awesome for the amount of people they tend to. Our favorite waitress covers the whole back room and she is fast and never writes anything down. I dunno how she does it! Looking forward to winning the flip cup tourney! ***Update*** The Flip Cup Tourney is off the charts awesome! You get some much free booze and food and flip cup love.. I just hope people wont be sad when I beat every single one of them! Come to Merkles on a sat and you wont be disappointed!

Narrow, narrow, narrow. This place just isn't big enough to fit a crowd in Wrigleyville. A few years ago, my softball team was sponsored by Merkle's. Did we usually have a good time? Sure...I mean, the wings are tasty. But they only have pitchers of certain, crappy beers? There is Sam Adams on tap but we couldn't get a pitcher of it. Sorry, but i don't drink Miller and Bud.

This is hands down one of my favorite places to go before the Cub's game. It's also great for hangover Sunday's, but first and foremost, before Cub's games. Why? Well, most importantly they have Magner's. ~A cider from Ireland that is more bubbly than apple juice and not as tart as Woodchuck-it's the best stuff on Earth! It's called Bulmers in Ireland. You can do an entire bar crawl on Clark going to places that serve Magners. Back to Merkle's. They have the absolute BEST grilled cheese sandwiches ever!! They are huge, really huge. Two people can split unless you are over zealous and think you can take it all down yourself:)If you want a really fatty go of it, get ranch on the side. It's the perfect start to a day game or night game and all the fun that coincides with either.

I only ever go to Merkle's for Trivia Tuesdays (and the $2 burgers don't hurt). It's a great time - grab a few friends and you will really enjoy it. Bring a movie-buff with you though: the movie category is particularly difficult and worth double the points...

I hit up Merkle's for the $2 half-pound burgers on Tuesday. The total came out to $6 with fries and a beer. It's hard to beat that. The burger was suprisingly tasty as well. It's safe to say that I'll be back.

This is a generally average wrigleyville bar. I probably wouldn't normally come here very often, except they're sponsoring my rec soccer league team so we're obligated to. They have an average beer list, average food, and and a friendlier-than-average staff of servers. It attracts a younger crowd (less than 25, it seems). Nothing wrong with this place, just nothing exceptional!

I've been to Merkle's several times and generally I like it. The food I have to say is always great. I've never been there and been disappointment. I was however disappointed in the service. There were literally two tables (a total of 4 people) and we had the worst service. My friend I was getting up to walk the 4 feet to the bar to get our drink since our waitress was clearly not going to come over to get us another drink. I talked him out of it because I feared our waitress would get rather insulted. Well I shouldn't have talked him out of it. Sadly it took her at least 10 more minutes to come over and get our drinks and then we waited forever for our check. I will be back because I like the food, but I'll probably sit at the bar. At least the waitress was honest when we were asking her opinion on the food (we were trying to eat something different from what we normally eat.) She was dead on with her suggestions.

Light years ahead quality and price wise of the bars in the vicinity. The food is solid and the staff is really nice and attentive. A great place to go before and after games or if you are just in the neighborhood. And a jukebox with Bad Company AND .38 special how can you go wrong?

Great bar with an excellent beer selection. Our burgers were amazing and the service was quick considering how crowded it was Saturday night. The only thing is, it's very loud and close in this bar so conversations can be difficult

We go to Merkles every week after our glamorous Broomball games on Tuesdays. They have great specials, plus we always get the same waitress and she remebers what drinks we ordered the last time we were there. It makes me feel warm and special inside to be honest. And there is always some very interesting people watching....

Living near the new found "strip" in Chicago, I find Merkle's to be about the only place in Wrigleyville I can stand for a quick bite or beers pre or post Cubs games. The staff is not pretentious and always having a good time and it rubs off on the customers.

This is basically the only bar on Clark Street that I go to. The bartenders are top notch and will know your name after your 1st visit to the bar. Grab a beer before a Cubs game, eat some wings and enjoy.

Come for their cheap burgers on Tuesday and make sure you order the fries. They are thick burgers on a super yummy bun. They are amazing! Minus one star for the waitress being kinda rude and trying to rush us out. Also, their specials don't apply on cubs games, booo.

Your standard Wrigleyville bar, although I've never actually been here after a game. Friendly staff, however, the servers can be a bit slow at times. We typically get their wings, the house special ginger soy wings are fabulous. I normally love bbq but their version is definitely on the sweet side. Crowd varies, although must seem to be in their twenties.

Best place to watch a Bears game for sure! I agree with Jody C. Buckets of domestics are $12 but you can get the aluminum bottles of bud which are 16oz.....FANCY BOTTLES is what I call those. The wings are 25 cents too! Great wings...especially the honey wings which taste like PANCAKE SYRUP! Plus crazy bears fans...da bears!

Rare to get a neighborhood bar feel in a bar right down the street from Wrigley. This place gives you that feeling. Great service! Friendly and accommodating. Good pre or post game stop. Don't get me wrong they will liven it up for late night with live music on the weekends. But its not your typical Wrigley seen where you get a warm can of beer thrown at you for $6 and not even a smile. Good food. Try the cheese triangles. Nothing else like it anywhere. Mozzarella cheese hand rolled in bread crumbs and fried. That has helped me survive many of nights there!

This is such a great place to go to watch the Bears! Everyone there is a huge fan, and they sing the fight song during the commercials. Im not from Chicago, and i'd never really seen the SNL skit played out live. It was great! Get there early b/c it fills up quickly and you need a table, but well worth it. Cold beer and a bloody mary bar

This watering hole is a great place to stop by after a Cubbies game. Wooden tables and bar give Merkle's a touch of class on a street that is littered with breeder bars. The prime location is one of the window seats -- during the summer they open into the street and you can get some good people watching in while you're drinking. The music selection is pretty unique because it's everyone that works there's iPods plugged into the speakers. Have yourself a Bootie Call -- but beware, they just may kick your booty!

Do Not go here- I was disappointed with this place. It has the potential to get a 4 star, but the staff (including the owner) were brutal. We were attending a $25 drink special (which only included domestic taps and cheap booze... at Redmond's this is only $15). My biggest problem with their system is you "must" return your empty glass or else they won't give you another one. I understand the policy, but almost everyone at the bar had a bracelet. What this means is if you waded through the crowd and got to the bar, but forgot your drink you were either buying your drink or walking back to your table to get your glass. Brutual. Not to mention the special was about to end and the owner (or a guy who claimed to be the owner) walked over to our table which had 4 cocktails on it and only 2 people at the time. He made a point to say this was against the rules and before we could explain that they were in the bathroom he said "yeah right, I've never heard that one before) and proceeded to take their drinks away from the table.

I really think this place is very hit-or-miss. On the one hand, the food is REALLY good and they do have a ton of tvs to watch sports whenever. On the other hand, the staff CAN be very rude. I went here once in the middle of the day, when it was very close to empty, for some lunch and a few beers. I had the remnants of a cup of Starbucks in my hand, and because of that, the guy wouldn't even let me come in! I mean, come on. They definitely lost my business that day.

This is a completely average Wrigleyville bar/pub and yes, there are at least a dozen others just like it along the Clark St. corridor. It can get busy on the weekend nights which is fun but other than that it's nothing special. Maybe next time I'll have to try this food that everyone's raving about...

Non descript bar among the many on Clark St, south of Addison. There really isn't anything remarkable about this place; there is nothing horrid about either. An easy meeting place after a Cubs game though.

This is definitely a fun place! I love Thursdays where they have awesome live music and $2 coronas! You can't beat that on a nice summer day!

I love this place! It's great after Cub's games but also to watch Illinois play -- or any sporting event. They have plasma TV's throughout the bar and they offer great specials during the week.

This is a fun Wrigleyville bar. It's not very big but it does the job. They let you pick your own music so there is an assortment of music playing throughout the night. Their drinks are pretty reasonable, but if you're looking for a place to sit down with your friends, you'll have to go really early b/c there is limited seating.
