I stopped in here when my Internet was down so I could use the free wi-fi, which worked great. My husband had to wait to use the restroom because a homeless man was, um, freshening up in there? It's not the cleanest place, but then again it's a fast food joint. It's passable. We got our food quickly and it tasted fine. The staff weren't really friendly, but they weren't rude, either. There was a mix of people here, from men and women in sharp business attire to guys wearing paint-splattered shirts and work boots. In summary, it served its purpose.

The employees are nice, considering the location, I wouldn't be nearly as pleasant. So I do feel a little bad leaving a bad review... and wierd leaving a review for a fast food join besides- but good lord sometimes they are slooooow. Seriously, I don't think I'm high maintenance, but if i can stand there with nobody else in the line for 2-3 minutes and nobody even aknowledges my existence, that's not so good.

  • Fred D.

they forgot my damn sausage egg and cheese mcgriddle!!! this mc d hole is the pits!!!!

  • Elizabeth P.

This is my go to Mickey D's because its the closest to my house. I only do drive thru and the staff is always friendly in the am. two stars because its hit or miss as to whether or not their latte machine is working, or being cleaned or what ever.

I know what you're thinking... Who reviews a mcdonalds, right? Well, this is for those nights when you and a couple of friends are having some drinks at home and craving that greasy fix that supposedly cures hangover a little. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. So I neither encourage or discourage it :P but I always go with my boyfriend and friends. I usually get a parfait or sundae with 2 cookies or small fries and he gets a mcdouble Medium fries and a mcflurry. So the first time I went was drive through. Mcflurries are pathetic. Only half full. Fries werent very warm. A little stale actually. Gave it a second shot. Walked there this time, since it's not too far. Did the same thing with the mcflurry. I mean come on, the thing was almost three bucks. It'd be nice to get our money's worth. Plus there were creeps that talked too loud everywhere. Don't plan on going back to this location.

I'm not really fast food junkie but I love McDonald's fish sandwiches and I've picking them up here whenever I get the feel for it. This McDonalds is very clean and the bathroom is very sanitary. The customer service is pretty quick and very good as well. So whenever I'm in the area and I get that itch for fish sandwich this place will be my go to spot.

    (5)
  • Chris F.

I would give it 0 starts but that is not an option. You have to pay for refills!! Wtf. If you don't mind listening to loud Chinese then this is your place

  • Timothy H.

I stopped in this McDonald's today and ordered a bottle of water. ONLY a bottle of water. No food, no other drinks, just a bottle of water. Please explain to me why I waited FIVE MINUTES for a bottle of water that was sitting in the cooler behind the cashier? Let's not talk about the real shady characters that were standing around outside asking for money......

    (2)
  • Arturo A.

If I could give a 0 start I will! The manager whatever her name is was rude(didn't wanted to give me her name, after I asked over 5 times), not caring about the customer experience. No reason for me to go back there, I know it's McDonald's but come on at 3 am tastes delicious....

This is not the type of business I usual review. I mean it's McDonald's and I do not expect much from them. However this one location is the worst! It is just a block from where I live and have lived for 9 years already, so of course I have been to this McDonald's more times then I would like to admit. If you are taking your food to go, here is a great tip, hold on to your receipt until you check your bag. And make sure to check your bag before you leave. They "forget" to put items in the bag all the time. One time I even had to argue with a manage saying I did not pay for an item because I did not order it. Thank God I had my receipt handy that showed that not only that I ordered it, but paid for it. The manager then seemed really upset to give me the item that I already paid for. I guess the business motto is "you get less then what you pay for"! Worst McDonald's that I know!

    (1)
  • Todd M.

They make you pay for refills. I've been to a McDonalds where you have to pay for a refill. Won't be back to this location.

I've been going to this McDonald's for about one and a half years and I really have no complaints with it. Yes, before the remodel it was rather dingy, but the remodel has given this McD's a whole new life! I go to this McD's quite frequently and have had no gripes with the service. It definitely depends on the time of day you go, but it's a McDonald's...it gets busy. The service is just as good as you'd expect it to be at any McD's when it's busy and even faster when it's not. I have found the staff to be quite friendly. After the remodel, it's extremely clean and it looks great. I think the Wilson red-line area is going to look great within the next couple years and McDonald's has been a great start!

    (4)
  • SCOTT G.

Fantastic service and my orders are almost always correct even thought they are always special order. I take partial blame for not double checking my order before I leave. They help is friendly and the management stands out and handles issues that come quickly and usually with positive results. This is one of my favorite McDonalds to visit. My only negative thing to say is that they don't have free refills on soda anymore. I would really like to see that come back. Makes me visit the location on Clark a little more often.

  • Steve D.

One of the worst McDonalds I've ever been to. Trying to get extra pickles on a regular hamburger is almost impossible. Not only do they charge more for each sandwich, they only do so very begrudgingly. The female supervisor working days just stared at me when I objected. They make billions in profits and she acted like extra pickles would cause their stock to plummet. Avoid this uncaring dive unless you are starving.

    (1)
  • Michael R.

For a McDonalds this place is great! Food is quick, everyone that works there is nice. Bathrooms are always really clean. There are usually a few homeless people inside, or outside that will come up to you while you're eating and ask for money, but other than that it's a solid McDonalds.

  • B L.

Really? A Mickey D review, B.L.? Well, each McDonald's is like a snowflake. They are all special and different in the ways they prepare your dinner trough. The four stars is for DRIVE-THRU ONLY. I would only recommend using the DRIVE THRU. I see a lot of these other reviews talk about people-watching IN the actual restaurant but I must say these people must have stronger stomachs or weaker noses than I. Seriously, it is like bum city when you walk into this joint. I think they douse themselves in vinegar before they come in; for some reason it's always very humid inside the restaurant too. Before you say "B.L., it's a RESTAURANT, they cook stuff, duh!" It's more of like a stink-humidity that happens when all the bums link their magic rings and unite into MegaBum. I dunno. It's just not appetizing to go in there. Drive-thru, in contrast, is ALWAYS fast and the people are ALWAYS nice. It takes too damn long to order inside the restaurant! The people are nice I guess inside but it just smells too damn bad dude. Lastly I thought it was funny that the drive-thru has a sign saying they don't take walk-ups in the drive-thru. Really? People do that?

    (4)
  • Precious B.

the only thing I like about this Mcdonald's is the fresh piping hot food that's a plus but onto the negatives...everytime my son order's a happy meal and I say BOY they end up giving us girl toys and they always give toys that are outdated never up to date with the current happy meal toys which makes me think what is going on this is happening all the time today it was supposed to be BEN 10 and they gave my son KUNG FU PANDA 2 which isn't even the next listing it's OUTDATED! I also had one bad experience when my family and I were going through the drive thru and as I was placing my order a very unprofessional employee started mocking me over the intercom I pulled up to the window and didn't even follow through with my order because I thought it was immature and made this Mcdonald's look very bad for hiring people like that...my overall experiences have lead me to this conclusion HIRE more professional people to work the intercom drive-thru not a bunch of obnoxious little girls but I still continue to go here only for my son!

    (2)
  • Malana W.

This McDonald's is *ALWAYS* busy! No matter the time of day it is swarming with people. People worth watching on most nights if you are a people watcher like myself. I don't ever recall my order being messed up any time I've driven thru the drive thru although there are some nights that I have been frightened when the employee's lock their drive-thru window on me but that is to be expected with a mental hospital so close by. So if you are near Uptown drive through this McDonalds to grab a bite to eat and do a little people watching.

  • Dirt B.

I have made it my mission to find places that not only deliver quality food at an affordable price, but give you hours of entertainment as well. And I have discovered that Mickey D's in Chicago are some of the most prime locations to accomplish all three tasks. With that I give you McDonald's, located in the heart of Uptown. Hooo Lo! What an experience this joint is! Situated near tons of section 8 housing, a mental hospital, and the Night Ministry, this is a McDonald's experience not to be missed but be forewarned, you will be entertained but you WILL need to watch your back. The first sign of awesome is the flashing blue police light that signals a police camera is watching the intersection on a light pole right outside the place. If you see this light in the city you know you are in for a treat. Head inside, pick your combo order, have a seat and chill for a bit. You will eventually see the most motleiest of crues enter and exit this McDonald's and see some of the freakiest, scariest, and most rad people in Chicago. Just keep an eye on your wallet and your sanity because you may wind up loosing both on a visit to this Haven of Crazy.

  • Eliezer A.

Standard McD's with one exception: They have Powerade on tap! What more can you ask for after a long run or ride along the lakefront than an ice cold 44 oz. Powerade (similar to Gatorade) for 89 cents. (Special deal through summer 2007.) BTW, Powerade has less electrolytes (sodium and potassium) per ounce than Gatorade. Powerade is certified kosher, Gatorade is not. Beware: The customers inside and outside this location can be creeeepy! Just grab your cup, fill it up at the drink bar, find a seat in the back and chill out. Overheard at this wacky McD's: Wacky person #1: HEY! Do you eat cow? Wacky person #2: WHY? Is your mother-in-law missing?

  • Cheryl M.

With all the crazies these workers deal with, I think they do an outstanding job. I live around the corner so I come here about once or twice a month, when I get my junk food craving on. They have yet to mess up my order and the service is pretty quick, considering. As a manager of a quick-concept restaurant myself, I can't help but give these workers a kudos!

    (4)
  • Kristen F.

I love McDonald's and yes, I've seen Super Size Me and it didn't stop me from eating McD's but I try to make it for "special" occasions only. Unfortunately it's the only fast food by my new condo. I've been there a few times in the last couple months but the last time I stopped in on a Thursday evening turned me off from this location. I walked in to hear a manager and a customer in a shouting match. I was not there for the start of it and from what the manager was saying, he made it sound like the customer started it. The manager was a younger male and the customer was an elderly woman. He was yelling at her to the point that she was shaking and her voice was cracking. It left only one other register open and the employee working it flustered which made for a line that was growing longer by the minute. I even got an order of fries that I did not pay for because he was not paying attention. I ended up calling the corporate headquarters to issue a complaint which I had never done before. Hopefully it doesn't fall on deaf ears because that manager was way out of line with his attacks on this customer and he deserves to be fired or punished.
