The service is awful like send out an S.O.S for customer service. Every time I go in here to get a large Sweet Tea, they are always out and refuse to make any as they are way too lazy. They charge you though and after you pay the are like, "Oh you want a refund?" The place is filthy and it is not a mccafe so you can't get the coffee drinks. They never have fresh food. it is the worst mcdonalds in the entire city so I recommend walking to the location on Wrightwood and Clark a few blocks away.... better service, cleaner and has the mccafe.

This Mickey D's is nothing if not perfectly located near all of the LP watering holes. I wouldn't go here sober. Hell, I wouldn't eat fast-food sober. But when it's 2am and you've decided that Big Mac is now a food group? Oh yes. I'll take three, please. It's McDonald's. It's dirty. It's cheap. But it doesn't pretend to be anything but.

I am sure this is probably one of the shittier McDonald's of all time. But when you are drunk out of your MIND? It is amazing. Those Big Macs and their 38763486 calories and their corresponding 876234 grams of fat will taste like heaven. And it is perfectly situated between the bars on Lincoln Ave and the Fullerton stop (the love of my life). Furthermore, when your drunk ass is parked somewhere in this place (it's dirty as hell, but this is not important when you can't keep your head upright), every single other person in your line of sight becomes your new best friend. Magic! I will only come here when I am unsober, and for the purposes of drunk food, it does a fantastic job.

This McDonald's is such a joke. Most McDonald's have a Dollar Menu, right? Right. Well, this McDonald's Dollar Menu ends before it closes! When dining there late night, you basically have no choice besides ordering an Extra Value Meal. They get your order right about 75% of the time -- not bad, but far from perfect. And the staff BARELY speaks English -- if you have a problem with your order, I wish you the best of luck in getting the situation corrected. One reader responded, "a McDonald's that gets your order correct 75% of the time, that's amazing." Perhaps, I have very high standards for a fast food restaurant. This McDonald's is consistently packed with high school-aged kids around lunchtime (and they're always incredibly loud and obnoxious). You can usually spot a homeless person in there, as well. I've been approached on occasion for spare change here -- this should not happen in Lincoln Park -- especially in a restaurant.

If you have a ton of time to kill, don't stop here. Well, according to a posted sign you're only allowed to stay 30 minutes. It a pretty tiny McDonalds but it is always busy.

    (2)
  • Jenni F.

Um, it's McDonald's, and it tastes like McDonald's. The service is lacking and the staff is often confused. But the real reason for only three stars.... No McChicken on the dollar menu. The end.

I remember the neighborhood uproar years ago when it was announced that a McDonalds was going to open at this location, so many people complained that an establishment like McDonalds would be out of character and have no real value to local area residents. This prophecy seems to have come true, the times I've visited, the dining room has been populated mostly with down & out street folk rather than upscale Lincoln Parkers. Funny how the patrons you see in most in-city McDonalds restaurants have absolutely no resemblence to the well-groomed, affluent, happy folks that you see in all their ads. I don't understand why anyone would want to dine here when there are so many other food options in this area.

I came here the weekend before Halloween. I was dressed up as Soulja Boy and a group of people said that I was OC. I thought I was cool and knew most terms today but I hadn't heard of OC. I proceeded to ask them what OC meant and they told me, outta control. Dang it, not only did I not know what they were talking about but I think they were making fun of me. I guess I'm not that cool. The other part of the review can be dedicated to the use of the washroom and an order of large fries. The bathroom requires a code from the cashier. If I remember it maybe I'll post it here later. vinebox.co/u/woWwQRGrJPv…

    1) Super salty fries wtf? 2) never was informed that there's a 'medium' and 'large' option for meals. Ergo, I ordered a #13 for $5.49(?) and my receipt ended up saying $6.79. I inquired and was told above. Problem is the cashier never asked me which size I wanted; I saw $5.49, I expect $5.49. I took the meal regardless to avoid myself the hassle, so I'm not bitching about it. I do want the manager/owner to see this review and correct it for future customers or my next visit: Please ask me what size I want because i am forcing myself to finish these fries at the moment... Pop on the other hand will be trashed. Waste of food. I've been to tons of McDonald's all over the world... Not that that's anything to harp on, but I'd definitely call myself a pro at this point.

The nastiest McDonalds in Chicago. The next thing they're going to do to make this place any more hostile to customers is to put up bulletproof glass at the tiny ordering counter. I'll write this: they're efficient. The ordering counter has one cash register and a separate pickup area. The workers here are some of the most unpleasant and unfriendly employees I've ever met at any McDonald's. No hello, no thank you. When I finished my order, the young lady slapped down the change and yelled out next. You have to ask for napkins, straws and trays. Given the area, I understand. Drunk college kids all night and homeless people that hang out all hours. OK, if it were my restaurant, I might feel the same apathy and hatred for my job, too, but this place is horrid.

  • Girard S.

Looks like a bunch of WASPy flat-arsed LP moms and elitist stuck-up Old Towners gutted this place's reputation. "Homeless people! Oh my!" Get real, pal. It's a McDonald's, not Alinea. Anyway, I've eaten here so many times, and despite the dismal atmosphere, it's my favorite Micky D's. They get the food out fast, the fries are usually fresh, and they've never screwed up my order once. It's excellent people watching too. Go on any weekend night and get a front seat to see a fight that beats the pants off of UFC.

Only good if you're drunk. The place is not the best and they don't have free refills. Service isn't very fast

This place is a joke! I only stop in on weekends when I'm on my way home from work. I work overnight so I really just want coffee. Twice on Sundays they were still closed at nearly 7a.m. A few Sundays ago I walk in along with another customer. There was no one else around...no other customers...no employees. I waited...and waited! Some girl finally came up to take my order, she spoke no English and walked away. The manager finally came from in back. Cell phone in hand and crying. Sorry if you're having a bad day, but your problems stay at the door. She walked past me without even looking. She eventually took my order, after I waited 10 minutes at the counter. Today was the last straw!! I got my coffee...$2.09...the cashier then motioned to put the change...$2.91 in the tip can! TIP CAN!!!! Are you friggin kidding me?! Now you want a tip too?! I'm a waitress and I have no problem tipping, but really at the McDonald's?! Not to mention she expected me to give her almost $3 for a cup of coffee!! Is this the new thing...do all McDonald's have this??

Not many seats & the staff is rude but I come here once a week before work because it is hands down the best chicken nuggets & fries I have ever had! Tastes so fresh & cooked just right. Most McDonald's serve their chicken nuggets a bit more crunchy & just tastes like its been sitting under the heat lamp for a while - this location has soft breaded nuggets & tastes overall better.

  • Ryan B.

Believe it or not I have not been in a Micky D's in forever. I swear. Really, I am not like that. Anyway, I stopped in to kill some time and try a smoothie late this Friday morning. This place was dead and dirty. The workers were chattin' it up around the shake machine (must be like the water cooler but they don't have one so they use the shake machine) when they probably should have been wiping tables. I have never seen a McDonalds so laid back - not even in the South. I thought McDonalds were supposed to have baristas for these specialty drinks. In this one, the barista is a computer controlled ice muncher. I wouldn't be surprised if I could link to it with my iPhone to monitor progress. The Strawberry 'Nanner smoothie it made was eh. It had zero excitement. It needs something, but I don't know what. Maybe some salt or fry grease? Like I said; I just don't know. The only redeeming thing about this place is not the food but the **spectacular people watching** since it is on a corner on a campus at an intersection of 3 very busy thoroughfares. That's where all the stars come from. Yes, superb people watching indeed!

Out of all the McDonalds i've been to, this is one of the worse ones. The service is generally rude, the food can be undercooked, and the restaurant is always dirty. I know people don't expect a lot from a McDonalds, but out of all of the locations in the super-sized chain, this one is one of the worst.

I positively hate it when I read a review which states something is "ghetto" in the first line. Being that I was born and raised in Chicago, I understand its an over used word we learned as children to use as a descriptor. However, when I read a persons review to say "ghetto" and that's it. I wish Yelp had a "user you so cray! or user you so stupid" button. So I could click that instead of Useful, Funny or cool. Rant completed. Saturday night, 3 am, seven lovely ladies ahead of me and nine gawking, drunken dudes behind me. Only one dude manning the counter. WHY?! (by the way, this is a great spot for chad / trixie watching.) A large fries and medium frappe choco something took almost twenty five minutes. No drive thru so there's a wait. The blended coffee frap choco whatever tasted disgusting. The commercials on TV say chocolate chips in every sip. My ass. Chemical, fake, syrup taste in every sip was more like it. After picking up my order I was not given a straw. I walked around the seating areas looking for condiments, napkins, straws. None of these are kept outside. I inquired with the security guard, so he went in the kitchen and grabbed them for me. Reading other reviews I see some mention ordering from the dollar menu. As of today, I'm not sure whether they still have the dollar or value menu. That was one gripe the seven lovely ladies ahead of me were wondering and complaining about as they scraped and scavenged through their wristlet's for any change they could find to purchase any sort of greasy McDonald's goodness. Note to twenty something males. The next weekend, bypass that last bar and head straight here. You were unsuccessful at meeting someone at the last couple bars but here, you'll surely meet someone. Buy a tray of large French fries and request them "fresh". As the ladies or men enter, someone will surely ask or look over in the hopes of joining you. Sharing is caring.

I have been too this McDonald's a couple of times and the staff was cool and the coffee was great, the restaurant and the restroom was clean...that's always important! I think I have only gotten the hash browns as far as food from this McDonalds and it was fresh and hot! I do see that many of the reviews are from as late as 2006 so maybe they have fixed up some issues! When I'm in the area I will be back!

i believe that this is as bad an experience as you can have at a mcdonalds. it's totally gross inside and, even if it is in the middle of the afternoon on a saturday, they act as if you are a drunken depaul student and hate your guts.

This is a great brunch spot in the Lincoln Park area, they just added new stuff to their brunch menu including a steak egg and cheese biscuit, an egg white biscuit, and their breakfast burrito here is better than the Bourgeious Pig's across the street. FYI, this place is BYOB for brunch, and you'll have to pour any liquor you bring into your coffee yourself.

On the hunt and searching for free wireless , I stopped in this McDonald's knocked a few items off the $1 menu and planted myself in a booth to try to use free wi-fi. Looking through all of the networks there were two giving full signal and I connected to both of them. Neither one of them allowed me to go to any web sites, and I was disappointed when one only allowed me to go to mcdonalds.com . On their web site I started searching for more McDonalds that might let me surf the web on their free wi-fi. I was shocked to see the Lincoln Park location I was sitting in listed as offering free wi-fi! It didn't work except to let me look at the corporate web site. DOH! Foodwise the double cheeseburger and small fries hit the spot and came out very quickly. The McDonald's was a bit dirtier than I would expect for five in the afternoon, but this ain't the Four Seasons, after all!

This McD offers poor service consistently. I know its location makes it ultraconvenient, but that convenience is offset by the long wait times.

  • Samael M.

By far the WORST fast food restaurant I have ever been to. I usually stopped going to these places when I was 18, but it was a hot day and I wanted to try the new Strawberry Lemonade. The place was nearly empty, since it was an off time, there was no one at the counter. Yet, I waited for 5 minutes without anybody serving me. There were 6 employees loafing around upfront, when I tried to get someones attention I only received blank stares. Whatever McDonald's, go back to enabling LARDASSES and raising my health care premiums.

I was disappointed in this McDonald's. On a late night walk home from the bar I stopped at McDonald's to fulfill my desire for a McChicken sandwich off the dollar menu. To my disappointment they didn't offer the dollar menu and I did not get my McChicken. I got french fries instead and gobbled them on my walk home. The appearance of this McDonald's is pretty sketchy too. For such a good location they should remodel or at least make it look a bit more friendlier.
