Very good Chinese and what makes it a great place is the service is always welcoming. This is your general fast food Chinese menu, nothings going to pop out as unique. The place has plenty of space, great for parties. Solid choice can't go wrong with this place, they have a small fast food take out place around the corner but for some reason not that tasty, maybe it's in my head. Looking for a great Chinese place in the area? Been eyeballing this place but not sure you'll regret it? It's safe trust me! I've been going here for years.

I went there last night because I had a horrible Chinese craving. I ordered Crispy Duck, Sesame Beef, Egg Rolls and crab rangoon. The entrees were absolutely delish (I loved the Sesame beef so much I may go again tonight) but the egg rolls were gross ( I think they had cinnamon in them) the crab rangoons were just ok not special. Overall a good experience though.

The food is fine - they prepare it pretty quick, and it's absolutely better than the stuff that you'd get at Panda Express. Star deducted for the service-without-a-smile.

Not great, not terrible. Probably won't go again anytime soon, but if you are nearby and looking for take out dinner after work...its "fine".

This has got to be some of the worst service I've come across, slow and unprofessional. I didn't receive a receipt for my purchase; aside from that I was one of the first to place my order and the LAST to leave. People even walked in after me and left before with similar orders. I wasn't satisfied with their service.

Ready in ten minutes even if you make a special request. Love the fact that they don't overcook the vegetables - always hot and crunchy. Plumpest potstickers I have ever seen. They appear to have a hidden menu - dishes you have to already know about that aren't printed on the menu like the spicy eggplant in hot garlic sauce. This is a killer dish with lots of eggplant, bits of crispy pork, onions, bok choy, a few stray carrots, and whole dried hot peppers. Space is completely nondescript and not designed for lingering even though there are a few small tables and chairs. Better to take your food across the street and have a picnic in the park. Great unpretentious neighborhood option.

Food is decent but I'm only giving them 2 stars because their staff is always extremely unfriendly.

I called and ordered orange chicken at 9' o clock at night. First thing I noticed about this whole experience was the guy never told me how long it would take. I showed up aprox 10 min later and it still wasn't done, no big deal. It ended up taking about 5 more min and I had my 2yr old with me so that kind of sucked. My impressions of the restaurant itself were good. Very clean and orderly. Kitchen is open so that you can see everything that is going on. Onto the food. As I said earlier I ordered the orange chicken. I posted a picture. I wasn't happy with it overall. It cost 10.25 after taxes and the portion wasn't that big. I'm kind of picky about that though. When I order Chinese I like to be able to get a couple meals out if it. You probaly could with this meal but they would be pretty small portions. The food itself? The sauce was great the chicken was horrible. Ya, I know. It's kind of odd to have that big of difference. The chicken was completely scorched. So badly that it was stringy. I ended up taking it all out and mixing the rice in the sauce and eating that. The sauce as I said was good. However, not a traditional orange sauce. Nothing orange about it except the orange they put on top. Sounds strange but I did like it. I'm probably going to back and try the Singapore noodles. Everybody seems to agree they are pretty good. Hope this helps.

when reading the reviews here, please note the high ratings of people who grew up or spent a lot of time in the neighborhood. if you eat here with any regularity (i lived up the street for four years) you get familiar with the place and appreciate its quality. the fact that Lo's has been here at least since the 1990s in a city that changes all its storefronts monthly should tell you. since i moved to the suburbs, i have been mostly unsuccessful in finding its peer. this is not foodie Szechuan -- what it is is very well done Chinese takeout. Lo's is a simple, unimpressive storefront with very limited seating for 12 or so, suited to carryout and delivery. the kitchen is pretty fast. counter service, and if you go there more than once or twice you become a friend -- these are good people. it's safe to explore the menu -- in fact i would encourage it -- but i do agree that Mongolian beef, orange beef, and potstickers are all quite good. special requests no problem. ample portions. reasonable pricing.

Love the Chicken fried rice , the Orange chicken isn't all that great and the people from there are pretty rude but food is good

It was a rainy Tuesday evening, and I didn't feel like cooking after sitting in traffic behind a bunch of idiots. I recently moved to Irving Park from spending 4 years in Logan Square. And I'm in search of a favorite Chinese joint. So, I went to Lo's and grabbed a small orange chicken and some crab rangoon. The sauce was good, but the chicken was incredibly sickening. Dry, stringy, over fried. I should have known better than to try it when I opened the container and it smelled "toasty and burned." The crab rangoon were ok, so at least it wasn't all for naught. After this experience, I'm definitely still looking for my neighborhood go-to for some decent Chinese...

Food not too bad but not great either, egg rolls were extremely salty and chicken a bit too soft. Customer service kind of rude. Don't think that I will return.

Best damn Chinese food I have ever had. I had Mongolian Beef, Chow Mein and Egg Rolls. The worst I can say was that the eggrolls were OK. Everything else was spectacular. Definitely coming here again. Worth every penny.

Consistently good, my family has lived in the neighborhood for years and we've never had a bad meal from here. I wish they delivered but, don't mind going out of my way to order pickup. Chicken is always good, never rubbery or over cooked. And super fast.

Great tasting food... great service ... and a ton of food at a great price.... way to much to eat in one meal... I will be back next time im in town for sure... I had the crispy orange chicken and there had to be at least 5 lbs of food in the to go box.

I really should give them one star.... popped in to pick up four egg rolls on the way to help a friend move to her new crib. Order up, reasonably quick.... I open the bag, no napkins. Asked for some, got ONE in return. Asked for a few more, was given another SINGLE napkin. I asked for more and got one more. Whoopie! 3 napkins total to handle a reasonably greasy finger food! Yay!! I totally get them not handing out stacks at a time, especially if you're on your way home. But I had a reason to ask for them, as I'm sure my friend hadn't yet unpacked HER napkins. Of course, at the bottom of the bag were about 8 - 10 sweet and sour packets...... maybe I should have traded some for more napkins.... Oh, and the egg rolls weren't very good, either.

I decided I wanted chinese food the other night. I went to Lo's because I see it on my way home. Pros: *generious portions *eggrolls tasted good Cons: *I could totally taste the MSG in it *although it says any item can be altered, they would not substitute a crab rangoon for an eggroll *they use peanut oil I probably will not be returning, the whole MSG thing turns me off and I feel disgusting after.

Lo's easily had the cleanest, busiest kitchen I've ever seen at a Chinese take out spot anywhere. Solid Chinese takeout- I felt like I may have have spent an extra buck or two here vs. some of the other spots around but again, the kitchen really looked clean. I once purchased some pork fried rice (not at Lo's) where the woman behind the counter alternated between peeling shrimp, taking orders and working the register. So maybe the extra bucks were worth it.

I'm sorry.... I've been in love with this place for years! My family and I have to give this place 5 stars because of how good everything we order is. Now mind you...I can't say how other dishes are...but these are a list of the things we always order....all of which are VERY YUMMY! It is so good, that I don't just crave "chinese food"...I crave Lo's chinese food. Here is an example of our usual order: ORANGE CHICKEN (major YUMM), Singapore style noodles, Mongolian Beef, Pork Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Beef, Pot Stickers, Crab Rangoon, Lemon Chicken, Beef Lo Mein....egg rolls are okay...we only order them from time to time. Food cooked fast to order. We usually hit the "take out" one on California, but I have been to the sit down version on Irving Park not more than a block away from the take out location. Only problem is that they DON'T DELIVER!!! UGh, but it is close and a quick call usually means food is ready in 15 minutes for easy pick up. This isn't some fancy shmancy place...just good old chinese food at it's best!

Other peoples shit is some other person's Chinese Alinea. That should be their slogan. Grading this is more challenging than passing out grades to a special ed class.....let me explain. The food is okay, not bad really, but not great. Service is foreign friendly. Atmosphere is the wrong word. Price is fair...makes it a B on a modified scale. Overall it's okay

ok, what the hell is wrong with the taste buds of Chicagoan's??? Holy shit this is the worst Chinese I've ever eaten - EVER. If you like this, you must have been locked up for a really long time. Egg roll looks and tastes like it was made a week ago and heated up. Dumplings are rubbery and disgusting. Black bean chicken was super thick, saucy, cheap.

This is my "go to" place for carryout Chinese. Fast, good and large portions. I have had other places that seem to serve you a lot when you're there, but the carryout portions seem smaller, here that's not the case. Good Chicken Kow, Mongolian Beef, Fried Rice and egg rolls. In addition to the standard fare, they shake it up with some of their own creative dishes and can make just about anything that you want by description. The older lady is an institution here and loves to take care of you. The dining room is not really a great place to sit and have your meal, hence my use of them primarily for carry out. There are about 5 tables, all of them that get the door wind sweep. Best I've found within a mile or so of Lincoln Square for carryout.

omg! Never ever eat here! This place is a filthy shit hole. I ordered a large combination fried rice to share with a friend so we decided to eat in the car and after having a few bites of rice I noticed the rice was sort of crispy or hard and I looked at my food and found a f*cking COCKROACH in the food. I never in my life felt so disgusted and filthy. I wanted to wash my mouth with bleach. I spit the food out all over the place and my friend screamed because she was scared and confused. Don't health inspectors check restaurants? These people need to be shut down forever. I don't think I will ever be able to eat Chinese food again in my life.

I had a Mongolian beef with fried, the rice was very good since they added shrimp to it. they have decent lunch specials. the beef tasted very good and spicy. it will be one of my to go place when I am looking for Chinese food.

i eat here at least once weekly. Only had one item on the menu that i wasn't thrilled about. The cashew shrimp, but i was just trying something new. THe Veggies are always FRESH and plentiful. My food is always hot and on time. Love the Sweet and sour Chicken, Veggie fried rice, Crab Rangoon, and General Tsos Chick. Did i mention that the veggies are wicked fresh!

Been going to Lo's since forever...and overall I'm pleased with their food, service and prices. I've tried pretty much everything on their menu, from Mongolian Beef, to Fried Rice, to their Singapore Noodles, etc. Overall they have a good selection of entrees. I've moved a little further from Lo's, but if I'm ever in the neighborhood and craving for Chinese, this is the place I will most likely order from. Overall, good food, good service, good prices.

Nothing beats the portion size, speed of preparation, delivery, and how consistently good this joint is. Great chinese delivery! Must tries - fried pot stickers, singapore noodles, scallop fried rice, and the orange beef.

overall, i totally enjoy this place. i use to live over on california and irving park so it was simple getting there (just cross the damn street) lol but now that i live on pulaski and irving, i pretty much hop on the irving straight over there once in a while and grab a bite to eat to take home. totally worth it. totally love the chicken lo mein and shrimp fried rice with some crab rangoon. mouth is watering just thinking about it. the employees there are super friendly. give it a try folks. cant go wrong with this place in my opinion.

I would agree with previous poster that Lo's food is good, but nothing to rave about. However for chinese place that is close to home, they rock! General Tso Chicken is really good, however KungPao is not exactly to my taste. Still it is better then some other places. I found staff really nice, and somehow they know as even though we went there just few times. About wheelchair accesibility I see someone checked. Well, I have baby with stroller and it does take some maneuvering to get it, otherwise it is doable.

Walked in 02/16 around 8pmish.... There was no one but myself and my gf placing an order..which was small order of vegetable fried rice and an order of orange chicken... The portions were great! My only negative was it was a small order...no one else had ordered before us...and there couldn't have been orders being placed on the phone because I didn't see the girl working the front have to answer the phone once, yet I found myself waiting 20-25 min...hmm... However the rice was delicious and orange chicken sweet with a kick of tangy spice.. I will def. be back..next time I will place an order for pickup to avoid the wait....

Close to home this is a place I hit up when I'm too lazy to make dinner. I love the chicken and broccoli, and the crab rangoon appetizers. I tell them no corn starch, so no MSG for me. They have 2 locations, both on Irving Park, one has a dining room, that's in the plaza where The Cat Hospital is. The other location for carry out is in the plaza at the corner of Irving and California where 7-11 is located.

I've been going here for years for Chinese takeout. They serve Americanized Chinese food, so don't expect anything more than that. But if you're craving Chinese fast food, this place is consistently good. I've pretty much tried everything on their menu, but my favorite is Mongolian Beef. I generally order beef dishes, so their beef & broccoli, beef & green beans, etc. are all good choices as well. This place is across the street from Horner Park and McFetridge Sports Center, which is convenient if you spent the day playing or skating and need a quick bite to go.

Lo's China Kitchen's logo might as well be a dotted white line for how middle of the road it really is. I can't point out one specific flaw about the place but in the same hand I can't think of one thing that really separates it from the pack. Their Tso's chicken is, predictably, predictable. The broccoli it's served on is a bit undercooked, the sauce coating the bawk-bawk a bit overpowering but as a dish it exudes a certain je ne sais -meh- and can't seem to decide if it wants to be outstanding or sucky. And I can't decide either. There ain't nothing in the area that's better or worse. Orange Garden is just out of reach over near Damen so if you find yourself catsitting for your friend and you have to eat Chinese, I guess Lo's can love you long time but don't expect it to remember you the next morning, I guarantee you won't remember it either.

We use to settle for this place in our neighborhood because it was convenient but now we have discovered Guey Lon and realize we deserve better. But last night Guey was closed and we decided to give Lo's another shot. I like the little chicken wing appetizers because they have a nice crunchy batter. The dumplings are good, but nothing special. Egg rolls here are big, but really really bland. In the past I have tried several different entrees from pork to shrimp and nothing has ever impressed me enough to want to try it again. My husband always gets Mongolian beef so I decided we could just split an order. It was greasy and you had to admit it was not the best quality of meat. It's not the worst chinese, but I know there is something better out there.

My favorite place outside chinatown, I been coming here for a while, the rice is fucking amazing(well everything is actually), The only bad thing is that its very small, I remember they use to have an actual restaurant like a minute away (almost like in front), but they got rid of it and it became a gross sushi bar :@ (I never been there so i don't know if its actually gross). So when i go I rather get take out, and rush home because i do live sort of far, but the trip is always worth it.

Use to love this place back in the 90's when I could barely see over the counter but now I went after being Mongolian beef starved in new York for 3 years.... & eh don't think I'll be back againn. But I do love the owners. Sorry

I've been going here since like 1995...so much that master lo and mrs lo know my family by name. I wonder if Master Lo took the picture of him and Blagojevich off the wall by now? Everything on the menu is pretty outstanding (after eating here for so long we pretty much ate everything on the menu), and the lunch specials are a sweet deal - Generous portions of fried rice, main dish, and egg roll for like 5 bucks?!? SCORE! Definitely in my top 3 for chinese food on the north side!

Keep in mind this is Chinese food. I used to frequent the sit down location across the street that is now a Japanese restaurant. This is the same place and ownership but for a quick carry out and I believe this is all that is left. I am a picky eater and the staff would always make sure to pass on the sugar and monosodium glutamate. Very good Mongolian Beef!

The egg foo young is delicious. The rest of the menu is good. I'll make no effort to say anything nice about the service as they make no effort to be nice.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
