Went to one of the original Lalo's and greatly enjoyed my meal. The lunch specials are great. The service was very fast 7minutes from order till food on table. The complimentary soup was chicken w/ vegetable soup. Real chunks of skinned chicken. The Corn chips were fresh and the salsa was Mexican hot. I ate the skirt steak which was juicy and tender it came with a quesdilla with peppers in it. The beans were cooked whole and taste appetizing. The potatoes came with chorizo mixed in. The last part of the LUNCH SPECIAL had guacamole and 3 grilled onions plus 3 tortillas. All under 10 BUCKS!!! Parking is ample on 26 st and you will have to feed Mayor RAHMS meters. Or walk a block and park on the side street for free. If you are into mariachis and tequila head to the Lalo's on Harlem or Halsted. This place is for straight up eating...

One of the most affordably priced and solid authentic Mexican dishes served at any Mexican Restaurant I have been to. They have a really cheap and filling breakfast menu, quite a few meals for only $5. They have great Al Pastor tacos, excellent tortillas, awesome steak, and some of the best soup around. One gets a sample of that great soup complimentarily once you sit down to eat, along with tortilla chips and salsa. Friendly atmosphere and usually a lot of families go to eat. I like going here on Sundays. It can get crowded and the place is not very big, but the staff bust their ass to get you hot food pretty damn quick. There also is a tiny bar so one can get alcohol and they have solid margaritas, too. Highly recommend the Little Village location. They are a chain, but this one feels like a family-owned joint.

Roja Enchilladas were great. Cazadores and Squirt was nice as well. Public restrooms and great service. Nothing but good things to say about this place!

This place is just great! Don't be fooled by the name "Lalo's", this Lalo's is the one and only you should go to to have real "authentic" Mexican food. The other one's don't even come close. Not to mention their service is off the charts!

I have been wanting to give this place a review for the longest and finally got around to it. With that said..... I started coming here about a year and a half ago and it definitely blows all of those other fancy schmancy Lalo's restaurants off the charts! It's soo cozy and the main waiter and waitress are the best (the same 2 waiters I have always been tended by). They are super friendly and caring not to mention that this place also has a more authentic taste! (I am Mexican, I should know growing up with Mex food my entire life) My recommended favorite is the Carne Asada Zamora!

While this Lalo's is alot of smaller then the one on Harlem it still has amazing food. Regardless if you go there for breakfast or dinner it's still amazing. I've been here a few times already for both and breakfast is simple with tons of flavor and not draining your pockets. Then there is the main menu which is full of classic mexican dish favorites from tacos to mole and all in between. It's a great place to bring the family and it's also a great place to go with some co workers to grab some food and a drink, either way you can't go wrong.

I came here with friends and we had a great time! It was easy to find parking outside and we were promptly seated. We just landed from our flight and we were famished. We split a pitcher of margaritas. Each person received a small cup of soup and chips and salsa. I had the Filete de Pescado a la Veracruzana o al Mojo de Ajo. It was some good baked fish with delicious spices. I'd definitely come back here my next time in town.

Been going here for many many years and have tried several dishes. Love the comal azteca and huachinango here. The staff is great as well. The carna zamora is actually named after an uncle of mine who used to own a shop on 26th and used to order a custom plate that wasnt on the menu, so they decided to add it to the menu and named it after him! Great place!

This is the same Lalo's I've been going to since I was little. The place has gone through some slight cosmetic changes but overall has been the same place I remember. I always ordered the steak tacos and was usually never disappointed. They would serve them hot with lettuce, sliced tomato and crumbled cheese on top. The rice went through some changes from plain red, to red with veggies, and then back to plain. And if I had some room, I would get fried ice cream. And of course, there's the boy with the box of chiclets that would walk in every so often. But recently, the food has been on a downfall. Last time I ate their during the day, the taco meat tasted as if they scraped the very bottom of the tray for meat. Burnt, overly salted, and with a bunch of gristle. My girlfriend went a couple weeks later and apparently had an even worse experience. I've been going to this place since probably 1986 but I'm thinking I'm going to have to stop coming if it continues like this. I'm giving it 3 stars because of the memories.

have not been here for a year + now. so i took a friend from Australia there and the service and food was great. she loved everything there. i was happy that she was happy and my food was great as well. it was not too busy for a monday around 6pm. so the waitress tended to us perfectly. i always love the chicken soup you get as soon as you walk into the door. its great little appitizer to warm the belly since it was a little chilly out. im always happy walking out of this place. been going to this location for years, my parents have been taking my brother and i since we were kids. dont forget to get a Margarita with dinner! :)

Nice quiet place to go for Mexican. This is our own little private restaurant, when we go they immediately know what we are going to order. Ask for the Mikey special, which is the Skirt Steak and grilled shrimp. It comes with spanish rice and pinto beans. They can make the beans extra spicy or you can have them put the hot sauce on the side and mix it yourself with the beans. Love this place and hoping to go tonight.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
