Value! I got a small Mongolian beef, a small combination lo mein, and a free orange chicken (because of the yelp deal) all to go. When I got home we were surprised to see huge portions of all our dishes, along with two sides of rice, chopsticks, hot sauce, forks, and two plates. All for $13. Are you kidding??? So how was the food? It doesn't matter. Ok but how was the food? The food was...fine. My wife really liked the orange chicken, it was her favorite dish out of all of them. For me, when I first took a bite I thought it was really good, then the more I ate, the more I felt it was average. The Mongolian beef in particular, tasted like the beef was frozen and then reheated, the lo mein was actually pretty good on its own, and the shrimps were jumbo, so that's a great addition. When I went to pick up the food, the staff was very friendly and courteous. Another plus. When you look at a take out Chinese place, you're not looking for fancy, gourmet food. You're looking for a place that is cheap, quick, has good service, and decent food. We ate for three days, all on $13. If that isn't five star then I don't know what is.

Good food, quick service and ninety cent can sodas. This place is budget friendly. I would label it, an Americanized Chinese fast food take out establishment. Yes, there's seating but you are served the take out containers either way. While the rating is 4 stars overall, there are several 5 star areas - reasonably priced - large portions - a 2 free egg rolls or 5pc Crab Rangoon Yelp check in offer - delivery is available Food The food was not the best I ever had, but it was pretty good and on par with most Chinese places of its size and caliber. Shrimp & Broccoli - 4 stars Egg roll - 3 stars Combination Fried rice - 3 stars Generally speaking, I prefer New Star's Chinese which is down the street but will continue to patronize this establishment from time to time too.

Have ordered take ordered take out three times and every time come away with the same impression. Best Chinese take out I've had since moving to Oak Park 19 years ago. Service is fast, and very well prepared.

I read the reviews and decided to give this place a try instead of going to my norm, New Star. I ordered the Combination Pad Thai and Crab Rangoon. The crab rangoon were huge. The order of 5 is a meal in itself. They weren't the best I've ever had, but they were tasty. The shrimp and chicken were delicious in the pad thai. The beef was close to inedible, which was extremely disappointing. I usually order beef at Chinese places because I am picky about my chicken. At Kings, I will stick with the chicken and say goodbye to the beef. The noodles and sauce were bland. I ended up adding a lot of soy and hot sauce (I've only used soy sauce a handful of times and that was for leftovers) to give them some flavor. Overall the portions were huge and food was okay. I will be back to try other menu items like the orange chicken and egg rolls.

I'm now here about once a week and I am surprised at how much I have ventured off of my usual fare (fried rice and egg foo yong) and am willing to try new things. That speaks to the quality of the food, for sure. When my friend, who is vegetarian, came to town, I ordered a bunch of options with tofu and veggies and learned that Zucchini Supreme comes with every meat on the planet (whoops!) We were calling it "zucchini surprise" as in "surprise, there is meat in here!" I liked it, so she just ate the other options. The hong sue beef is one of my favorites - I even eat the meat cold the next day (like cold pizza, but better - and the crab rangoon are also just fine cold the next morning). Next time I need to try some Mongolian beef and orange chicken.

I've been seeking a good Chinese restaurant that had an American flare and traveled all the way from downtown to this place. It was great and all the food was pretty awesome (crab Rangoon, special fried rice, chicken wings, and orange chicken). The wings were the best I've tasted in Chicago since I've moved here, 9 months ago. They remind me of The Village in Miami. The service was good. The only confusing part was that he gave us the fortune cookies as soon as we sat down, which can be a time saver but it can also send customers the wrong message. We will definitely come again!

Before King Garden Tony owned a location near Garfield ridge (harlem and archer) and sold it to his driver. I was so sad when it sold. When I found out tony owned a place by my parents I knew I had to pay him a visit and he again didn't disappoint. Ordered spicy orange chicken and Mongolian beef, both very good and again large portion. Food is always very tasty. A must try.

Favorite new Chinese spot. The prices are cheap and you get plenty of food. Huge eggrolls, orange chicken was the best&spicy wish shrimp fried rice came with it but the chicken fried rice was good also. The pepper steak is also delicious. 4 different orders of food including delivery only $28

I ordered from here once from my house and had it once at my sister's house and turned down the offer to stay for dinner the next time she had ordered from here. I just don't get the hype over it, Yes, the portions are large but what I had was just not good. So who cares if you get a lot when you don't like it? It's average chinese food. I ordered lo mein and egg foo young and pot stickers. It was just bland and the pot stickers were kind of think and gummy tasting - maybe they suffered in transport. The lady on the phone cold not get my 3 item order right and I had to repeat it 3 times. I did not ask for any changes to anything special - just right off the menu. Maybe they were busy and I hit them at a bad time. Unless the chinese place by me (which is also just so -so) closes I can't see ordering from here again.

The place is pretty small and low key, the customer service is great and the Portions are huge! There was sooooo much food, I could not finish it! They use real chicken (breast) and everything tastes really fresh the prices are reasonable as well. We had the Family Meal for Two. which include: Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, Egg Rolls, White Rice, Crab Ragoons, some noodle dish, and Hot and Sour Soup. That meal alone could feed a family of 4-5 people easily. The only negative remark that I have is that they served food on Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, so if you are looking for more of a dine in experience, this is not the place. Definitely great for carry out. The Eggs rolls were not my favorite, but I am also not a huge egg roll fan. Overall I definitely recommend and will be coming back again!

Egg drop soup and Combo fried rice were tasty! Lots of food at great price! Next time, I want to try their lo mien. :). Give this place a try!

All I can say is that this is the best place by far. Love their fried rice as well as orange chicken. Their ingredients are fresh, first place that actually uses real chicken for their orange chicken. I've eaten their food for years and will continue to do so. Highly recommend it.

Recently moved to Oak Park this is now my go to joint for Chinese carryout. I agree with everyone else. Great food, nice prices, huge portions. With some extra rice my order of General Taos chicken could easily feed 2. Look no further!

I have just found my new home for Chinese food! OMG the food is so good and fresh. I had the Orange Chicken and it was delicious it was like a party in my mouth. No one lied when they said Tony was the best! He was so nice and friendly he talked to me while I waited for my food. He is really down to earth and has great customer service skills. I'm going to try not to overdose on this place. People do yourselves and your taste buds a favor and try this place you won't regret it.

Huge portions. Excellent crab Rangoon. Not enough basil or high quality meat in basil beef. Shrimp pad Thai has poor flavor profile in sauce used - very disappointing.

First time tonight and I thought it was great food huge portions at a good price with friendly service! Some of the best fried rice I have tasted. Tony greeted us warmly and was genuinely interested in having us come back. Pot stickers are only thing not made in house, they buy the best Chinatown has to offer and they were excellent.

  • Dongxue W.

The food is authentic! We ordered big shrimp with lobster sauce, big seafood kow, big mongolian beef and got small orange chicken for free because they have a coupon on yelp. I can't believe how much food I got for $34 and it tastes amazing, same level as many more expensive Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. I will definitely come back and try other dishes when I'm in this area again!

I love Chinese food but rarely eat it. Most Chinese restaurants are full of salt and msg and my stomach feels horrible afterwards. This is the best chinese food ever. Tony, manager, super sweet and explains everything. We've ordered from there 3 times, its has not failed. Deliciousness!!!

I bought the kung pao chicken, orange chicken, 2 egg rolls and a shrimp fried rice. The food portions are huge and it was delicious. Customer service was excellent as well.

Finally! Now I can stop searching for a good Chinese spot because this is it! Very friendly people and environment. Clean establishment, roomy for groups if you want to meet up and have some great food. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Singapore noodles were awesome. Egg rolls are tasty, fresh and crispy. Combo fried rice was cooked to a perfection, light and fluffy. Wasn't over seasoned at all for me. Tasted great. Crag ragoon....yes please...may I have more? Wasn't fishy or greasy. I honestly can't wait to start trying more things on their huge menu. Reading the other reviews, I'm trying that Shrimp and Lobster next. Now stop reading and go order something!

My experience was very good. The guy that answered the phone was very nice he was also very patient. I have a shellfish allergy and he took the time to explain about the fish they use for the sweet-and-sour fish- he even waited while I googled the fish since I've never heard of it before. He also said he would make sure that he told the guy on the grill to clean it well because of my shellfish allergy. I used my 15% off coupon with no problems and delivery was fast. I ordered vegetable fried rice, vegetable egg foo yong and a vegetable eggroll which was very good and not greasy. Will order from here again.

Really good Cantonese-American food. Good, fresh ingredients prepared with more care and better recipes than the majority of Chinese restaurants in the area. Friendly owner and quick service. Check it out!

I was a little skeptical at first about this hole in the wall restaurant. It is clean and well lit. I first tried the egg rolls. They were unusually large and tasty too. I tried the free orange chicken. It was slightly spicy but surprisingly well balanced. Next was the Mongolian beef. Slightly spicy but one of the best I had. The potions are huge and still good the next day. Service is friendly and the food came out quickly. Plenty of street parking. I would go again soon.

I was a little hesitant to order from this place because of the chinese restaurant that was here before, and i didn't know if it was the same owners or if the quality was the same. I was definitely was wrong! This is the best chinese in the area and the owner, Tony is a great guy! We've had orange chicken, Mongolian beef, sesame chicken...all were really good and the chicken is good quality and fresh(which i dont find in most chinese takeout) crab rangoons are amazing, eggrolls are huge and delicious too!

Best Chinese restaurant around. I tried the shrimp lobster sauce and never seen such big shrimps used in this dish. The fried rice and it was good but slightly on the salty side but still very tasty. The crab rangoon was crispy and slightly sweet and egg rolls are huge and done the old fashion way! Very clean but needs more decorations. Plenty of street parking. Over all a great find with quick service.

My mother Connie had some food from King Garden 2 weeks ago and it was awesome. We decided to try it yesterday and again exceeded my expectations. Tony was great and even remembered my mom's name from before. This place is a triple threat with great food, price, and customer service.

Excellent food. It's under new management and they're doing a great job. The orange chicken is delicious and not greasy, as are the veggie egg rolls. Egg drop soup and Szechuan vegetables also recommended. So glad to have them in the neighborhood!

Tony was so awesome! Very pleasant. I couldn't decide between the egg rolls or crab rangoon for an appetizer, Tony recommended the egg rolls, but while I waited for my carry out order, he let me sample 2 fresh crab rangoon. It was delicious. The beef chop suey was delicious as were the egg rolls. :) Also shook my hand, called me by name from that point on, and was patient and informative as I looked over the menu. 2 thumbs up definitely!

Tasteless food, none of our 3 spicy dishes were actually spicy. We were told the food would be here in 45 minutes but it actually took over 65 minutes, then the driver had to call and ask directions to our house. After I told him he was half a block from our house he still couldn't find it and we had to go outside to wave him in. Once finally here, he didn't have a pen for me to sign the receipt. Did I mention that the food was not good? Why is all the Chinese delivery around here terrible?

The crab Rangoon are so good! Some of the best I've ever had. They are perfectly creamy with a hint of sweetness. For my entrée, I shared the orange chicken and Mongolian combo (beef, chicken & shrimp). The orange chicken was a delicious blend of sweet and spicy and the Mongolian combo had a nice, mildly spicy flavor. Overall, I was very impressed with everything I ate and look forward to coming back for more!

Great food, reasonable price. Great selection of familiar and new dishes at an excellent price. Family run and very friendly restaurant. Not much on atmosphere but clean and simple. Staff eager to explain dishes or modify them to fit the diner's taste. This place has become the go to place for Chinese takeout for myself and a number of my friends.

Crab Rangoon is amazing! The sweet & sour chicken at most places is usually very generic. Here the chicken taste really great without the sauce.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
